Day 191, 10 July 2022
Today at https://www.calvarycommunity.ca , Pastor Stephen Sesink
cloased the Sermon series on Counter Culture with a Sermon called
Don't Give up based on 2 Thessalonians 3
2 Thessalonians 3
The Lord is faithful; do not give up in prayer
Pray for Us
1 (1Th 5:25; 1:8) Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the word of the Lord
may quickly spread and be glorified, even as it did with you.
2 (Ro 15:31; Dt 32:20) And pray that we may be delivered from unreasonable
and wicked men, for not all men have faith.
3 (1Co 1:9; Mt 6:13) But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you
and guard you from the evil one.
4 (2Co 2:3; 1Th 4:10) We have confidence in the Lord concerning you,
that you are doing and will do the things which we command you.
5 (1Ch 29:18) May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God
and to the steadfastness of Christ.
[1] Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free
course, and be glorified, even as it is with you:
[2] And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all
men have not faith.
[3] But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from
evil.
[4] And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that ye both do and
will do the things which we **command** you.
[5] And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the
patient waiting for Christ.
2 Thessalonians 3
The Lord is faithful; do not give up in The Family of God
Warning Against Idleness
6 (1Co 5:4; Ro 16:17) Now we **command** you, brothers, in the name
of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw yourselves
from every brother who walks in idleness and not according
to the tradition that he received from us.
7 (1Co 4:16; 2Th 3:9) For you know how you should follow us.
For we were not idle among you,
8 (Ac 18:3; 1Th 2:9) neither did we eat anyone's bread without paying
for it, but we worked tirelessly and toiled night and day that
we might not be a burden to any of you.
9 (1Co 9:4-14; 2Th 3:7) We did this, not because we did not have that right,
but to make ourselves an example for you to follow.
10 (1Th 4:11; Ge 3:19) For when we were with you,
we **commanded** you that if any will not work, neither shall he eat.
11 (1Ti 5:13; 1Pe 4:15) For we hear that there are some among
you who live in idleness, mere busybodies, not working at all.
12 (1Th 4:11; Eph 4:28) Now, concerning those who are such,
we **command** and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ that they quietly
work and eat their own bread.
13 (2Co 4:1; 1Th 4:1) But you, brothers, do not be weary in doing good.
14 (2Th 3:6) If anyone does not obey our word in this letter,
note that man, and do not socialize with him, so that he may be ashamed.
15 (1Th 5:14; Gal 6:1) Still, do not count him as an enemy,
but admonish him as a brother.
[6] Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that
ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not
after the tradition which he received of us.
[7] For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not
ourselves disorderly among you;
[8] Neither did we eat any man's bread for nought; but wrought with labour
and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you:
[9] Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto
you to follow us.
[10] For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any
would not work, neither should he eat.
[11] For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly,
working not at all, but are busybodies.
[12] Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ,
that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.
[13] But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.
[14] And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and
have no company with him, that he may be ashamed.
[15] Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.
Matthew 12:46-50
The Mother and Brothers of Jesus
Mk 3:31-35; Lk 8:19-21
46 (Ac 1:14; Mt 13:55; Jn 2:12) While He was still speaking to the people,
right then His mother and His brothers stood outside asking to speak with Him.
47 Then one said to Him, "Look, Your mother and Your brothers are standing
outside asking to speak with You."
48 But He answered the man who told him, "Who is My mother,
and who are My brothers?"
49 He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said,
"Here are My mother and My brothers!
50 (Jn 15:14) For whoever does the will of My Father who is in heaven
is My brother, and sister, and mother."
[46] While he yet talked to the people, behold,
His Mother and Brethren
his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him.
[47] Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand
without, desiring to speak with thee.
[48] But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother?
and who are my brethren?
[49] And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said,
Behold my mother and my brethren!
[50] For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven,
the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.
2 Thessalonians 3
The Lord is faithful; do not give up on our Peace with the Lord
Benediction
16 (Ro 15:33; Nu 6:26) Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace
always in every way. The Lord be with you all.
17 (1Co 16:21) I, Paul, write this greeting with my own hand,
and this is the distinguishing mark in every letter: So I write.
18 (Ro 16:20) The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
[16] Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The
Lord be with you all.
[17] The salutation of Paul with mine own hand, which is the token in every
epistle: so I write.
[18] The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

they walk in His ways.
4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) You have commanded us
to keep Your precepts diligently.
5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) Oh, that my ways were established
to keep Your statutes!

when I have my focus on all Your commandments.
7 (Ps 88:7; Jnh 2:3) I will praise You with an upright heart,
when I have learned Your righteous judgments.

By keeping it according to Your word.
10 (Ps 42:3; Joel 2:17) With my whole heart I seek You;
do not allow me to wander from Your commandments.
11 (Ps 42:5; 43:5) Your word I have hidden in my heart,
that I might not sin against You.
12 Blessed are You, O Lord;
teach me Your statutes.
13 With my lips I declare
all the decrees of Your mouth.
14 I rejoice in the way of Your testimonies,
as much as in all riches.
15 I will meditate on Your precepts
and keep my eyes on Your ways.
16 I will delight in Your statutes;
I will not forget Your word.

wondrous things from Your law.
19 I am a sojourner in the land;
do not hide Your commandments fromme.
20 My soul is consumed all the time
with a longing for Your decrees.
21 You have rebuked the proud, those cursed,
who depart from Your commandments.
22 Remove from me reproach and contempt,
for I have kept Your testimonies.
23 Even if princes sit and conspire against me,
Your servant will meditate on Your statutes.
24 Your testimonies are my delight
and my counselors.

28 My soul collapses on account of grief;
strengthen me according to Your word.
29 Remove from me the way of falsehood,
and graciously grant me Your law.
30 I have chosen the way of faithfulness;
Your judgments I have laid before me.
31 I have stayed with Your testimonies, OLord;
may I not be put to shame.
32 I will run in the way of Your commandments,
when You set my heart free.

for Your judgments are good.

revive me in Your righteousness.

even Your deliverance according to Your word.
42 So I shall have an answer for him who reproaches me,
for I trust in Your word.
43 Do not take the word of truth out of my mouth,
for I have hoped in Your judgments.
44 So I shall keep Your law continually,
forever and ever.
45 I will walk in an open space,
for I seek Your precepts.
46 I will speak of Your testimonies also before kings
and will not be ashamed.
47 I will delight in Your commandments,
which I have loved.
48 My hands I will lift up unto Your commandments, which I have loved;
I will meditate on Your statutes.

on which You have caused me to hope.
50 This is my comfort in my affliction,
for Your word revives me.
51 The proud ones have derided me,
yet I have not forsaken Your law.
52 I remembered Your judgments of old, OLord,
and I have comforted myself.
53 Fury has taken hold of me because of the wicked
who forsake Your law.
54 Your statutes have been my songs
in the house of my temporary dwelling.
55 I have remembered Your name, O Lord, in the night,
and have kept Your law.
56 This is my blessing,
because I have kept Your precepts.
Heth
57 You are my portion, O Lord;
I have said that I would keep Your words.
58 I seek Your favor with my whole heart;
be merciful to me according to Your word.
59 I consider my ways,
and I turn my feet to Your testimonies.
60 I made haste, and I did not delay
to keep Your commandments.
61 The bands of the wicked have trapped me,
but I have not forgotten Your law.
62 At midnight I will rise to give thanks to You,
because of Your righteous judgments.
63 I am a companion of all who fear You,
and of those who keep Your precepts.
64 The earth, O Lord, is full of Your mercy;
teach me Your statutes.

O Lord, according to Your word.

for I have believed Your commandments.

but now I keep Your word.
68 You are good and do good;
teach me Your statutes.
69 The proud have spoken lies against me,
but I keep Your precepts with my whole heart.
70 Their heart is as thick as fat,
but I delight in Your law.
71 It is good for me that I have been afflicted,
that I might learn Your statutes.
72 The law from Your mouth is better to me
than thousands of gold and silver coins.
Yodh
73 Your hands have made me and fashionedme;
give me understanding, that I may learn Your commandments.

and that You in faithfulness have afflicted me.
76 Let Your merciful kindness comfort me,
according to Your word to Your servant.
77 Let Your compassion come to me, that I may live,
for Your law is my delight.
78 Let the proud be ashamed, for they have been wicked to me in falsehood,
but I will meditate on Your precepts.
79 Let those who fear You turn to me,
that they might know Your testimonies.
80 Let my heart be blameless in Your statutes,
that I may not be ashamed.
Kaph
81 My soul longs for Your deliverance,
but I hope in Your word.
82 My eyes are weary for Your word,
saying, “When will You comfort me?”
83 For I have become like a wineskin dried in the smoke,
yet I have not forgotten Your statutes.
84 How many days are given to Your servant?
When will You provide judgment on those who persecute me?
85 The proud have dug pits for me,
and they do not live in accordance to Your law.
86 All Your commandments are faithful;
I am persecuted without cause; help me!
87 They have almost consumed me on the earth,
but I have not abandoned Your precepts.
88 Revive me according to Your lovingkindness,
that I may keep the testimony from Your mouth.

89 Forever, O Lord, Your word
is established in heaven.
90 Your faithfulness is for all generations;
You have established the earth, and it is firm.
91 They continue this day according to Your ordinance,
for all are Your servants.
92 Unless Your law had been my delight,
I would have perished in my affliction.
93 I will never forget Your precepts,
for with them You have revived me.
94 I am Yours; deliver me,
for I have sought Your precepts.
95 The wicked have waited to destroy me,
but I will consider Your testimonies.
96 I have seen that all perfection has an end,
but Your commandment is quite broad.
Mem
97 Oh, how I love Your law!
It is my meditation all the day.
98 Your commandments have made me wiser than my enemies,
for they are continually with me.
99 I have more understanding than all my teachers,
for Your testimonies are my meditation.
100 I understand more than the elders,
because I keep Your precepts.
101 I have restrained my feet from every evil way,
that I might keep Your word.
102 I have not departed from Your judgments,
for You have taught me.
103 How sweet are Your words to the taste of my mouth!
Sweeter than honey to my mouth!
104 Through Your precepts I receive understanding;
therefore I hate every false way.
Nun
105 Your word is a lamp to my feet
and a light to my path.
106 I have sworn, and I will perform it,
that I will keep Your righteous judgments.
107 I am greatly afflicted;
revive me, O Lord, according to Your word.
108 Accept the freewill offerings of my praise, O Lord,
and teach me Your judgments.
109 My soul is continually in my hand,
yet I do not forget Your law.
110 The wicked have laid a trap for me,
yet I do not depart from Your precepts.
111 Your testimonies are my inheritance forever,
for they are the rejoicing of my heart.
112 I have inclined my heart to perform Your statutes always,
even unto the end.
Samekh
113 I hate those who are double-minded,
but I love Your law.
114 You are my hiding place and my shield,
I hope in Your word.
115 Depart from me, you who are wicked,
for I keep the commandments of my God.
116 Uphold me according to Your word, that I may live,
and let me not be ashamed with my hope.
117 Hold me up, and I shall be safe,
and I will have respect for Your statutes continually.
118 You have rejected all those who stray from Your statutes,
for their deceit is falsehood.
119 You put away all the wicked of the earth like dross;
therefore I love Your testimonies.
120 My body trembles for fear of You,
and I am afraid of Your judgments.
Ayin
121 I have done what is right and just;
do not abandon me to my oppressors.
122 Be true to Your servant for good;
let not the proud ones oppress me.
123 My eyes long for Your deliverance
and for the promise of Your righteousness.
124 Deal with Your servant according to Your mercy,
and teach me Your statutes.
125 I am Your servant; grant me understanding,
that I may know Your testimonies.
126 It is time for You, O Lord, to act,
for they have broken Your law.
127 Therefore I love Your commandments
above gold, even fine gold.
128 For I follow all Your precepts to be right,
and I hate every false way.
Pe
129 Your testimonies are wonderful;
therefore my soul keeps them.
130 The giving of Your words gives light;
it grants understanding to the simple.
131 I opened my mouth and panted,
for I long for Your commandments.
132 Look upon me, and be merciful to me,
as You are for those who love Your name.
133 Order my steps according to Your word,
and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.
134 Deliver me from the oppression of man,
so I will keep Your precepts.
135 Make Your face to shine upon Your servant,
and teach me Your statutes.
136 Rivers of waters run down my eyes,
because people do not keep Your law.
Tsadhe
137 You are righteous, O Lord,
and upright are Your judgments.
138 You have set Your testimonies in righteousness
and faithfulness.
139 My zeal has consumed me,
because my enemies have forgotten Your words.
140 Your word is pure and true;
therefore Your servant loves it.
141 I am small and despised,
yet I do not forget Your precepts.
142 Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness,
and Your law is true.
143 Trouble and anguish have discovered me,
but Your commandments are my delight.
144 The righteousness of Your testimonies is everlasting;
grant me understanding, and I shall live.
Qoph
145 I cried with my whole heart; hear me, O Lord,
I will keep Your statutes.
146 I cried unto You; deliver me,
and I shall keep Your testimonies.
147 I arose before the dawn of the morning and cried for help;
I hope in Your words.
148 My eyes are awake before the night watches,
that I might meditate on Your word.
149 Hear my voice according to Your lovingkindness, O Lord;
revive me according to Your judgment.
150 They draw close, those who persecute me with evil;
they are far from Your law.
151 But You are near, O Lord,
and all Your commandments are true.
152 I have known of old
that You have established Your testimonies forever.
Resh
153 Consider my affliction, and deliver me,
for I do not forget Your law.
154 Plead my cause, and defend me;
revive me according to Your word.
155 Salvation is far from the wicked,
for they do not seek Your statutes.
156 Great are Your compassions, O Lord;
revive me according to Your judgments.
157 Many are my persecutors and my enemies,
yet I do not turn from Your testimonies.
158 I behold the transgressors with disgust,
because they have not kept Your word.
159 Consider how I love Your precepts;
revive me, O Lord, according to Your lovingkindness.
160 Your word is true from the beginning,
and every one of Your righteous judgments endures forever.
Sin and Shin
161 Princes have persecuted me without a cause,
but my heart stands in awe of Your words.
162 I rejoice at Your word,
as one who finds great plunder.
163 I hate and abhor lying,
but I love Your law.
164 Seven times a day I praise You,
because of Your righteous judgments.
165 Those who love Your law have great peace,
and nothing shall cause them to stumble.
166 Lord, I have hoped for Your deliverance,
and I carry out Your commandments.
167 My soul has kept Your testimonies,
and I love them greatly.
168 I have kept Your precepts and Your testimonies,
for all my ways are before You.
Taw
169 Let my cry come near before You, O Lord;
give me understanding according to Your word.
170 Let my supplication come before You;
deliver me according to Your word.
171 My lips shall declare praise,
for You have taught me Your statutes.
172 My tongue shall speak of Your word,
for all Your commandments are right.
173 Let Your hand help me,
for I have chosen Your precepts.
174 I have longed for Your salvation, O Lord,
and Your law is my delight.
175 Let my soul live and praise You,
and let Your judgments come to my aid.
176 I have wandered like a lost sheep;
seek Your servant, for I do not forget Your commandments.
[1] Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD.
[2] Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the
whole heart.
[3] They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways.
[4] Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently.
[5] O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes!
[6] Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy
commandments.
[7] I will praise thee with uprightness of heart, when I shall have learned
thy righteous judgments.
[8] I will keep thy statutes: O forsake me not utterly.
[9] Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto
according to thy word.
[10] With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy
commandments.
[11] Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
[12] Blessed art thou, O LORD: teach me thy statutes.
[13] With my lips have I declared all the judgments of thy mouth.
[14] I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, as much as in all
riches.
[15] I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways.
[16] I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word.
[17] Deal bountifully with thy servant, that I may live, and keep thy word.
[18] Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.
[19] I am a stranger in the earth: hide not thy commandments from me.
[20] My soul breaketh for the longing that it hath unto thy judgments at all
times.
[21] Thou hast rebuked the proud that are cursed, which do err from thy
commandments.
[22] Remove from me reproach and contempt; for I have kept thy testimonies.
[23] Princes also did sit and speak against me: but thy servant did meditate
in thy statutes.
[24] Thy testimonies also are my delight and my counsellors.
[25] My soul cleaveth unto the dust: quicken thou me according to thy word.
[26] I have declared my ways, and thou heardest me: teach me thy statutes.
[27] Make me to understand the way of thy precepts: so shall I talk of thy
wondrous works.
[28] My soul melteth for heaviness: strengthen thou me according unto thy
word.
[29] Remove from me the way of lying: and grant me thy law graciously.
[30] I have chosen the way of truth: thy judgments have I laid before me.
[31] I have stuck unto thy testimonies: O LORD, put me not to shame.
[32] I will run the way of thy commandments, when thou shalt enlarge my
heart.
[33] Teach me, O LORD, the way of thy statutes; and I shall keep it unto the
end.
[34] Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe
it with my whole heart.
[35] Make me to go in the path of thy commandments; for therein do I
delight.
[36] Incline my heart unto thy testimonies, and not to covetousness.
[37] Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken thou me in thy
way.
[38] Stablish thy word unto thy servant, who is devoted to thy fear.
[39] Turn away my reproach which I fear: for thy judgments are good.
[40] Behold, I have longed after thy precepts: quicken me in thy
righteousness.
[41] Let thy mercies come also unto me, O LORD, even thy salvation,
according to thy word.
[42] So shall I have wherewith to answer him that reproacheth me: for I
trust in thy word.
[43] And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth; for I have
hoped in thy judgments.
[44] So shall I keep thy law continually for ever and ever.
[45] And I will walk at liberty: for I seek thy precepts.
[46] I will speak of thy testimonies also before kings, and will not be
ashamed.
[47] And I will delight myself in thy commandments, which I have loved.
[48] My hands also will I lift up unto thy commandments, which I have loved;
and I will meditate in thy statutes.
[49] Remember the word unto thy servant, upon which thou hast caused me to
hope.
[50] This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me.
[51] The proud have had me greatly in derision: yet have I not declined from
thy law.
[52] I remembered thy judgments of old, O LORD; and have comforted myself.
[53] Horror hath taken hold upon me because of the wicked that forsake thy
law.
[54] Thy statutes have been my songs in the house of my pilgrimage.
[55] I have remembered thy name, O LORD, in the night, and have kept thy
law.
[56] This I had, because I kept thy precepts.
[57] Thou art my portion, O LORD: I have said that I would keep thy words.
[58] I intreated thy favour with my whole heart: be merciful unto me
according to thy word.
[59] I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto thy testimonies.
[60] I made haste, and delayed not to keep thy commandments.
[61] The bands of the wicked have robbed me: but I have not forgotten thy
law.
[62] At midnight I will rise to give thanks unto thee because of thy
righteous judgments.
[63] I am a companion of all them that fear thee, and of them that keep thy
precepts.
[64] The earth, O LORD, is full of thy mercy: teach me thy statutes.
[65] Thou hast dealt well with thy servant, O LORD, according unto thy word.
[66] Teach me good judgment and knowledge: for I have believed thy
commandments.
[67] Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept thy word.
[68] Thou art good, and doest good; teach me thy statutes.
[69] The proud have forged a lie against me: but I will keep thy precepts
with my whole heart.
[70] Their heart is as fat as grease; but I delight in thy law.
[71] It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy
statutes.
[72] The law of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and
silver.
[73] Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I
may learn thy commandments.
[74] They that fear thee will be glad when they see me; because I have hoped
in thy word.
[75] I know, O LORD, that thy judgments are right, and that thou in
faithfulness hast afflicted me.
[76] Let, I pray thee, thy merciful kindness be for my comfort, according to
thy word unto thy servant.
[77] Let thy tender mercies come unto me, that I may live: for thy law is my
delight.
[78] Let the proud be ashamed; for they dealt perversely with me without a
cause: but I will meditate in thy precepts.
[79] Let those that fear thee turn unto me, and those that have known thy
testimonies.
[80] Let my heart be sound in thy statutes; that I be not ashamed.
[81] My soul fainteth for thy salvation: but I hope in thy word.
[82] Mine eyes fail for thy word, saying, When wilt thou comfort me?
[83] For I am become like a bottle in the smoke; yet do I not forget thy
statutes.
[84] How many are the days of thy servant? when wilt thou execute judgment
on them that persecute me?
[85] The proud have digged pits for me, which are not after thy law.
[86] All thy commandments are faithful: they persecute me wrongfully; help
thou me.
[87] They had almost consumed me upon earth; but I forsook not thy precepts.
[88] Quicken me after thy lovingkindness; so shall I keep the testimony of
thy mouth.
[89] For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.
[90] Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hast established the
earth, and it abideth.
[91] They continue this day according to thine ordinances: for all are thy
servants.
[92] Unless thy law had been my delights, I should then have perished in
mine affliction.
[93] I will never forget thy precepts: for with them thou hast quickened me.
[94] I am thine, save me; for I have sought thy precepts.
[95] The wicked have waited for me to destroy me: but I will consider thy
testimonies.
[96] I have seen an end of all perfection: but thy commandment is exceeding
broad.
[97] O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day.
[98] Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for
they are ever with me.
[99] I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are
my meditation.
[100] I understand more than the ancients, because I keep thy precepts.
[101] I have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep thy
word.
[102] I have not departed from thy judgments: for thou hast taught me.
[103] How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my
mouth!
[104] Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false
way.
[105] Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
[106] I have sworn, and I will perform it, that I will keep thy righteous
judgments.
[107] I am afflicted very much: quicken me, O LORD, according unto thy word.
[108] Accept, I beseech thee, the freewill offerings of my mouth, O LORD,
and teach me thy judgments.
[109] My soul is continually in my hand: yet do I not forget thy law.
[110] The wicked have laid a snare for me: yet I erred not from thy
precepts.
[111] Thy testimonies have I taken as an heritage for ever: for they are the
rejoicing of my heart.
[112] I have inclined mine heart to perform thy statutes alway, even unto
the end.
[113] I hate vain thoughts: but thy law do I love.
[114] Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word.
[115] Depart from me, ye evildoers: for I will keep the commandments of my
God.
[116] Uphold me according unto thy word, that I may live: and let me not be
ashamed of my hope.
[117] Hold thou me up, and I shall be safe: and I will have respect unto thy
statutes continually.
[118] Thou hast trodden down all them that err from thy statutes: for their
deceit is falsehood.
[119] Thou puttest away all the wicked of the earth like dross: therefore I
love thy testimonies.
[120] My flesh trembleth for fear of thee; and I am afraid of thy judgments.
[121] I have done judgment and justice: leave me not to mine oppressors.
[122] Be surety for thy servant for good: let not the proud oppress me.
[123] Mine eyes fail for thy salvation, and for the word of thy
righteousness.
[124] Deal with thy servant according unto thy mercy, and teach me thy
statutes.
[125] I am thy servant; give me understanding, that I may know thy
testimonies.
[126] It is time for thee, LORD, to work: for they have made void thy law.
[127] Therefore I love thy commandments above gold; yea, above fine gold.
[128] Therefore I esteem all thy precepts concerning all things to be right;
and I hate every false way.
[129] Thy testimonies are wonderful: therefore doth my soul keep them.
[130] The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto
the simple.
[131] I opened my mouth, and panted: for I longed for thy commandments.
[132] Look thou upon me, and be merciful unto me, as thou usest to do unto
those that love thy name.
[133] Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion
over me.
[134] Deliver me from the oppression of man: so will I keep thy precepts.
[135] Make thy face to shine upon thy servant; and teach me thy statutes.
[136] Rivers of waters run down mine eyes, because they keep not thy law.
[137] Righteous art thou, O LORD, and upright are thy judgments.
[138] Thy testimonies that thou hast commanded are righteous and very
faithful.
[139] My zeal hath consumed me, because mine enemies have forgotten thy
words.
[140] Thy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it.
[141] I am small and despised: yet do not I forget thy precepts.
[142] Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the
truth.
[143] Trouble and anguish have taken hold on me: yet thy commandments are my
delights.
[144] The righteousness of thy testimonies is everlasting: give me
understanding, and I shall live.
[145] I cried with my whole heart; hear me, O LORD: I will keep thy
statutes.
[146] I cried unto thee; save me, and I shall keep thy testimonies.
[147] I prevented the dawning of the morning, and cried: I hoped in thy
word.
[148] Mine eyes prevent the night watches, that I might meditate in thy
word.
[149] Hear my voice according unto thy lovingkindness: O LORD, quicken me
according to thy judgment.
[150] They draw nigh that follow after mischief: they are far from thy law.
[151] Thou art near, O LORD; and all thy commandments are truth.
[152] Concerning thy testimonies, I have known of old that thou hast founded
them for ever.
[153] Consider mine affliction, and deliver me: for I do not forget thy law.
[154] Plead my cause, and deliver me: quicken me according to thy word.
[155] Salvation is far from the wicked: for they seek not thy statutes.
[156] Great are thy tender mercies, O LORD: quicken me according to thy
judgments.
[157] Many are my persecutors and mine enemies; yet do I not decline from
thy testimonies.
[158] I beheld the transgressors, and was grieved; because they kept not thy
word.
[159] Consider how I love thy precepts: quicken me, O LORD, according to thy
lovingkindness.
[160] Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous
judgments endureth for ever.
[161] Princes have persecuted me without a cause: but my heart standeth in
awe of thy word.
[162] I rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth great spoil.
[163] I hate and abhor lying: but thy law do I love.
[164] Seven times a day do I praise thee because of thy righteous judgments.
[165] Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend
them.
[166] LORD, I have hoped for thy salvation, and done thy commandments.
[167] My soul hath kept thy testimonies; and I love them exceedingly.
[168] I have kept thy precepts and thy testimonies: for all my ways are
before thee.
[169] Let my cry come near before thee, O LORD: give me understanding
according to thy word.
[170] Let my supplication come before thee: deliver me according to thy
word.
[171] My lips shall utter praise, when thou hast taught me thy statutes.
[172] My tongue shall speak of thy word: for all thy commandments are
righteousness.
[173] Let thine hand help me; for I have chosen thy precepts.
[174] I have longed for thy salvation, O LORD; and thy law is my delight.
[175] Let my soul live, and it shall praise thee; and let thy judgments help
me.
[176] I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek thy servant; for I do not
forget thy commandments.

Entitled Watching Out for One Another
Zechariah 7:4-10
4 Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying:
5 (Zec 1:12; Isa 1:11-12) Say to all the people in the land
and to the priests: When you fasted and lamented during the fifth
and seventh months for these seventy years, did you really fast for Me?
6 (1Co 11:20-21) And when you eat and when you drink,
do you not eat and drink for yourselves?
7 (Jer 17:26; Isa 1:16-20) Were these not the very words that the former
prophets proclaimed when Jerusalem dwelled with ease along with
her surrounding cities, and when the Negev and the Lowland were inhabited?
Punishment for Rejecting God's Demands
8 And the word of the Lord came to Zechariah, saying:
9 (Mic 6:8; Jer 21:12) Thus says the Lord of Hosts: Execute true justice,
show mercy and compassion, every man to his brother.
10 (Ps 21:11; 72:4) Do not oppress the widow, orphan, sojourner, or poor.
And let none of you contemplate evil deeds in your hearts against his brother.
4 So I answered and spake to the angel that talked with me, saying,
What are these, my lord?
5 Then the angel that talked with me answered and said unto me, Knowest
thou not what these be? And I said, No, my lord.
6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD
unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit,
saith the LORD of hosts.
7 Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain:
and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace,
grace unto it.
8 Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
9 The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands
shall also finish it; and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me
unto you.
10 For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice,
and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven;
they are the eyes of the LORD, which run to and fro through the whole earth.
Jose, a seventy-seven-year-old substitute teacher, had been living out of
his car for eight years. Every night, the elderly man bunked down in his
1997 Ford Thunderbird LX, carefully monitoring the car battery as it powered
his computer for his evening's work. Instead of using the money earmarked
for rent, Jose sent it to numerous family members in Mexico who needed it
more. Early every morning, one of the teacher's former students saw Jose
rummaging through his trunk. "I just felt I needed to do something about it,"
the man said. So, he launched a fundraiser and weeks later handed Jose
a check to help him pay for a place to live.
Though Scripture repeatedly instructs us to watch out for one another,
it's sometimes difficult to see past our own concerns. The prophet
Zechariah rebuked Israel who, rather than worshiping God or serving others,
were "feasting for [them]selves" (Zechariah 7:6). Ignoring their shared
communal life, they disregarded their neighbours' need. Zechariah made
God's instructions clear: the people were to "administer true justice; show
mercy and compassion to one another . . . [and] not oppress the widow or
the fatherless, the foreigner or the poor" (vv. 9-10).
While it's easy to be consumed with our own needs, faithfulness calls us
to tend to the needs of others. In the divine economy, there's plenty for
all. And God, in His mercy, chooses to use us to give some of that plenty
to others.

Reflect & Pray
Who are some of the people that you’re responsible to care for? Where do you find yourself consumed with your own concerns?
God, please give me a greater vision to care for my neighbors.

Week 3 - Saved Now and Forever - Day 1 - Bought Back
Eph 1:7
7 (Ro 3:24; Ac 2:38; 20:28) In Him we have redemption through His blood
and the forgiveness of sins according to the riches of His grace
[7] In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins,
according to the riches of his grace;
In the opening scenes of The Glenn Miller Story, Glenn Miller, then a
struggling musician trying to find an audience for his music, enters
a pawn shop. He has hocked his trombone for rent money, and has come
to redeem it. Paying the pawn broker the money, he buys back his own
instrument and leaves the shop, indicating that he will probably
be back again.
In Eph 1:7. Paul says that in Christ "we have redemption through
His blood and the forgiveness of sin according to the riches of His grace."
We belonged to God from the beginning; he made us and stamped
his image upon us. But through sin we were lost, pawned to the
world's system and the Enemy of our souls.
But God redeemed us; he "bought us back" with the most valuable
currency in the universe - the blood of his own Son, Jesus Christ.
He did not resent the bargain, or question whether we were worth
such a price. He freely gave Jesus in trade to ransom the souls
of the people he created and loved.
Sometimes in Christian circles we get so caught up in religious
jargon that we forget what redemption really means. Gog did not have
to "get us out of hock." He was not compelled to buy us back when we
had sold ourselves to sin. But because of his love, and with no
deserving on our part, he chose to pay an enormous price to set us free.
We are redeemed, bought back, by the One who owned us in the first place.
Application
a) In what ways have I been "in hock" to sin in my life?
b) What does it mean, in practical terms, that God "redeemed" me from that sin?
4) From Prosperity Promises - Kenneth Copeland
Proverbs 28:13
13 He who covers his sins will not prosper,
but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.
13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper:
But whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.
5) From a Book called God's Promises for you:
When you are Angry or Vengeful
Prov 15:1
1 A soft answer turns away wrath,
but grievous words stir up anger.
1 A soft answer turneth away wrath:
But grievous words stir up anger.
Proverbs 25:28
28 He who has no rule over his own spirit
is like a city that is broken down and without walls.
28 He that hath no rule over his own spirit
Is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.
The Lord's prayer
Matthew 6:9-13
9 "Therefore pray in this manner:
Our Father who is in heaven,
hallowed be Your name.
10 (Mt 3:2; 4:17) Your kingdom come;
Your will be done
on earth, as it is in heaven.
11 (Pr 30:8; Isa 33:16) Give us this day our daily bread.
12 (Ex 34:7; Ps 32:1) And forgive us our debts,
as we forgive our debtors.
13 (1Co 10:13; Jn 17:15) And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."
9 After this manner therefore pray ye:
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

30 days of prayer for the Muslim World 24 April to 23 May 2020
Under the Keep Praying page
When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.
For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.
You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"
Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you
know, and Muslims around the world:
- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.
Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,
"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
18 Even on My menservants and maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.
19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below:
blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,
and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes.
21 And whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."[a]
Footnotes
Acts 2:21 Joel 2:28-32.
- Pray for Christian workers an organisations focused on seeing effective
discipleship movements among Muslim people.
- Ask the Holy Spirit to continue to inspire you to have god's heart for
Muslims, to see them as He does, and to be the light that then to Jesus.
Matthew 5:14-15 : 14 "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a
hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do men light a candle and put it under
a basket, but on a candlestick. And it gives light to all who are in the
house."
Ideas for prayer
- Pray for opportunities to show the love of Christ to Muslims around you
- Pray for, and offer generous hospitality to, those you know who are serving
Christ among Muslim people -
Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."
- When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims
throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days!
And
Thank you for praying through the
5 Days of Prayer for Sikhs.
"My name is Kam. I'm 29 years of age, and I grew up Sikh. As a teenager,
I struggled with depression, brokenness, and addiction to
cannabis. I didn't know how to stop or how to get help.
Then a friend invited me to church. As I spent time with Christians
and heard the message of the Gospel, I experienced the
love of Jesus Christ, and it was like nothing I'd known before.
One night I had a dream where I saw Him - a figure surrounded by
light who I knew was Jesus, the light of the world.
As I began to understand the gospel message, I encountered a reassuring and
confident solution to the problem of sin. I knew that I needed a solution
to my sin problem, and I gave my life to Christ.
Slowly, God began to heal my broken heart and my addiction.
Nine years have passed, and I am a devoted husband and a father
to two beautiful boys. I grow deeper in love with Jesus each day.
I ask you to continue praying with me, and others around the world, for Sikhs.
God is the only one who can draw people to Himself. He works in and through
the prayers of His people. I want Sikhs to know the freedom
and healing that is only available through Jesus Christ."
13 (Ro 14:17; 12:12) Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy

ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

[7] For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not
ourselves disorderly among you;
[8] Neither did we eat any man's bread for nought; but wrought with labour
and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you:
Amen.

8 Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
9 The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands
shall also finish it; and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me
unto you.
10 For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice,
and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven;
they are the eyes of the LORD, which run to and fro through the whole earth.

[7] In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins,
according to the riches of his grace;
10 (Mt 3:2; 4:17) Your kingdom come;
Your will be done
on earth, as it is in heaven.

Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,
"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
13 (Ro 14:17; 12:12) Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy
and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope,
through the power of the Holy Spirit.

ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.
