Day 134 of the 2nd Bible Study Journey - 14 May 2022 reflections

Day 134, 14 May 2022

1)Psalm 144,145,88,89

Psalms 144

A Psalm of David.

1 Blessed be the Lord my strength,

who prepares my hands for war,

and my fingers to fight;

2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) my goodness, and my fortress;

my high tower, and my deliverer,

my shield, and in whom I trust;

who subdues nations under me.

3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) O Lord, who is man that You take notice of him

or the son of a man that You make account of him?

4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) Man is like a breath;

his days are as a shadow that passes away.

5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) Bow your heavens, O Lord, and come down;

touch the mountains, and they shall smoke.

6 (2Sa 17:22; Dt 3:8-9) Cast forth lightning, and scatter them;

shoot out Your arrows, and destroy them.

7 (Ps 88:7; Jnh 2:3 ) Send Your hand from above;

rescue me, and deliver me

out of the great waters,

from the hand of foreigners,

8 (Job 35:10; Ps 63:6) whose mouth speaks lies,

and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood.

9 (Ps 38:6; 18:2) I will sing a new song unto You, O God,

on a harp and an instrument of ten strings I will sing praises unto You;

10 (Ps 42:3; Joel 2:17 )it is He who gives victory to kings,

who delivers David His servant from the cruel sword.

11 (Ps 42:5; 43:5) Rescue me and deliver me

from the hand of foreigners,

whose mouths speak lies

and whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood.

12 May our sons in their youth

be like plants full grown,

and our daughters like cornerstones,

cut in the similitude of a palace,

13 that our granaries may be full,

providing all manner of produce,

that our sheep may bring forth

thousands and ten thousands in our fields,

14 and may our cattle may be strong in labor.

May there be no breaking in

or going out,

and no wailing in our streets.

15 Blessed are the people who have such things;

indeed, blessed are the people whose God is the Lord.

Psalms 144

[1] Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my

fingers to fight:

[2] My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my

shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me.

[3] LORD, what is man, that thou takest knowledge of him! or the son of man,

that thou makest account of him!

[4] Man is like to vanity: his days are as a shadow that passeth away.

[5] Bow thy heavens, O LORD, and come down: touch the mountains, and they

shall smoke.

[6] Cast forth lightning, and scatter them: shoot out thine arrows, and

destroy them.

[7] Send thine hand from above; rid me, and deliver me out of great waters,

from the hand of strange children;

[8] Whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of

falsehood.

[9] I will sing a new song unto thee, O God: upon a psaltery and an

instrument of ten strings will I sing praises unto thee.

[10] It is he that giveth salvation unto kings: who delivereth David his

servant from the hurtful sword.

[11] Rid me, and deliver me from the hand of strange children, whose mouth

speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood:

[12] That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our

daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a

palace:

[13] That our garners may be full, affording all manner of store: that our

sheep may bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our streets:

[14] That our oxen may be strong to labour; that there be no breaking in,

nor going out; that there be no complaining in our streets.

[15] Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that

people, whose God is the LORD.

1 I will exalt you, my God and King,

and I will bless Your name forever and ever.

and Your godly ones shall bless You.

11 (Ps 42:5; 43:5) They shall speak of the glory of Your kingdom

and talk of Your power,

12 to make known to people His mighty acts,

and the glorious majesty of His kingdom.

13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,

and Your dominion endures throughout all generations.

14 The Lord upholds all who fall,

and raises up all who are bowed down.

15 The eyes of all wait upon You,

and You give them their food in due season.

16 You open Your hand

and satisfy the desire of every living thing.

17 The Lord is righteous in all His ways

and loving in all His works.

18 The Lord is near to all those who call upon Him,

to all who call upon Him in truth.

19 He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him;

He also will hear their cry and will save them.

20 The Lord preserves all those who love Him,

but all the wicked He will destroy.

21 My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord,

and let all people bless His holy name

forever and ever.

Psalms 145

[1] I will extol thee, my God, O king; and I will bless thy name for ever

and ever.

[2] Every day will I bless thee; and I will praise thy name for ever and

ever.

[3] Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is

unsearchable.

[4] One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy

mighty acts.

[5] I will speak of the glorious honour of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous

works.

[6] And men shall speak of the might of thy terrible acts: and I will

declare thy greatness.

[7] They shall abundantly utter the memory of thy great goodness, and shall

sing of thy righteousness.

[8] The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of

great mercy.

[9] The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.

[10] All thy works shall praise thee, O LORD; and thy saints shall bless

thee.

[11] They shall speak of the glory of thy kingdom, and talk of thy power;

[12] To make known to the sons of men his mighty acts, and the glorious

majesty of his kingdom.

[13] Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endureth

throughout all generations.

[14] The LORD upholdeth all that fall, and raiseth up all those that be

bowed down.

[15] The eyes of all wait upon thee; and thou givest them their meat in due

season.

[16] Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living

thing.

[17] The LORD is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works.

[18] The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call

upon him in truth.

[19] He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear

their cry, and will save them.

[20] The LORD preserveth all them that love him: but all the wicked will he

destroy.

[21] My mouth shall speak the praise of the LORD: and let all flesh bless

his holy name for ever and ever.

PSALMS 88

For the Music Director. A Song. A Psalm of the sons of Korah. To the melody

of "Suffering of Affliction." A Contemplative Maskil of Heman the Ezrahite.

1 O Lord, God of my salvation,

I cry out day and night before You.

2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) Let my prayer come before You;

incline Your ear to my cry.

3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) For my soul is full of troubles,

and my life draws near to Sheol.

4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) I am counted with those who go down to the grave;

I am a man who has no strength,

5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) like one who is set free among the dead,

like the slain who lie in the grave,

like those whom You remember no more,

for they are cut off from Your hand.

6 (2Sa 17:22; Dt 3:8-9) You have laid me in the depths of the pit,

in dark and deep regions.

7 (Ps 88:7; Jnh 2:3) Your wrath lies heavy upon me,

and You have afflicted me with all Your waves. Selah

8 (Job 35:10; Ps 63:6) You have caused my companions to be far from me;

You have made me an abomination to them;

I am shut up, and I cannot escape;

9 (Ps 38:6; 18:2) my eye is dim from my affliction.

Lord, I call daily upon You,

and I have stretched out my hands to You.

10 (Ps 42:3; Joel 2:17) Will You show wonders to the dead?

Shall the dead rise up to praise You? Selah

11 (Ps 42:5; 43:5) Shall Your lovingkindness be declared in the grave,

or your faithfulness in Abaddon?

12 Shall Your wonders be known in the darkness

or Your righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?

13 But unto You have I cried, O Lord,

and in the morning my prayer comes before You.

14 O Lord, why do You cast away my soul?

Why do You hide Your face from me?

15 I am afflicted and close to death since my youth;

while I suffer Your terrors I am helpless.

16 Your fierce wrath sweeps over me;

Your terrors destroy me.

17 They come around me daily like a flood;

they encircle me together.

18 You have caused to be far from me my lovers and friends,

and my companion is darkness.

Psalms 88

[1] O LORD God of my salvation, I have cried day and night before thee:

[2] Let my prayer come before thee: incline thine ear unto my cry;

[3] For my soul is full of troubles: and my life draweth nigh unto the

grave.

[4] I am counted with them that go down into the pit: I am as a man that

hath no strength:

[5] Free among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave, whom thou

rememberest no more: and they are cut off from thy hand.

[6] Thou hast laid me in the lowest pit, in darkness, in the deeps.

[7] Thy wrath lieth hard upon me, and thou hast afflicted me with all thy

waves. Selah.

[8] Thou hast put away mine acquaintance far from me; thou hast made me an

abomination unto them: I am shut up, and I cannot come forth.

[9] Mine eye mourneth by reason of affliction: LORD, I have called daily

upon thee, I have stretched out my hands unto thee.

[10] Wilt thou shew wonders to the dead? shall the dead arise and praise

thee? Selah.

[11] Shall thy lovingkindness be declared in the grave? or thy faithfulness

in destruction?

[12] Shall thy wonders be known in the dark? and thy righteousness in the

land of forgetfulness?

[13] But unto thee have I cried, O LORD; and in the morning shall my prayer

prevent thee.

[14] LORD, why castest thou off my soul? why hidest thou thy face from me?

[15] I am afflicted and ready to die from my youth up: while I suffer thy

terrors I am distracted.

[16] Thy fierce wrath goeth over me; thy terrors have cut me off.

[17] They came round about me daily like water; they compassed me about

together.

[18] Lover and friend hast thou put far from me, and mine acquaintance into

darkness.

PSALMS 89

A Contemplative Maskil of Ethan the Ezrahite.

1 I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever;

with my mouth I will make known Your faithfulness to all generations.

2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2 ) For I have said, "Mercy shall be built up forever;

Your faithfulness shall be established in the heavens."

3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) You have said, "I have made a covenant with my chosen one;

I have sworn to David my servant:

4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) 'Your offspring I will establish forever,

and build up your throne for all generations.' " Selah

5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) Let the heavens praise Your wonders, OLord;

Your faithfulness also in the assembly of the holy ones.

6 (2Sa 17:22; Dt 3:8-9) For who in the skies can be compared to the Lord?

Who among the heavenly sons is like the Lord?

7 (Ps 88:7; Jnh 2:3) God is greatly to be feared

in the assembly of the holy ones

and awesome to all those who surround Him.

8 (Job 35:10; Ps 63:6) O Lord God of Hosts, who is a mighty Lord like You,

with Your faithfulness all around You?

9 (Ps 38:6; 18:2 ) You rule the raging of the sea;

when the waves arise, You still them.

10 (Ps 42:3; Joel 2:17 ) You crushed Rahab like a corpse;

You scattered Your enemies with Your strong arm.

11 (Ps 42:5; 43:5 ) The heavens are Yours; the earth also is Yours;

the world and all that is in it, You have founded them.

12 The north and the south, You have created them;

Tabor and Hermon rejoice in Your name.

13 You have a mighty arm,

and strong is Your hand, and victorious is Your right hand.

14 Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne;

mercy and truth shall go before Your presence.

15 Blessed are the people who know the joyful shout.

They walk, O Lord, in the light of Your presence.

16 In Your name they rejoice all the day,

and in Your righteousness they shall be exalted.

17 For You are the beauty of their strength;

by Your favor our horn is exalted.

18 For the Lord is our shield of defense,

and the Holy One of Israel is our king.

19 Long ago You spoke in a vision

to Your godly one and said:

"I have given help to one who is mighty;

I have exalted one chosen from the people.

20 I have found David, My servant;

with My holy oil I have anointed him:

21 By whom My hand shall be established;

My arm also shall strengthen him.

22 The enemy shall not take tribute from him,

nor the wicked humiliate him.

23 I will beat down his foes before him

and strike down those who hate him.

24 My faithfulness and My mercy shall be with him,

and in My name his horn shall be exalted.

25 I will set his hand on the sea

and his right hand on the rivers.

26 He shall cry unto Me, 'You are my Father, my God,

and the Rock of my salvation.'

27 Also I will make him my firstborn,

the highest of the kings of the earth.

28 In My mercy I will keep him forever,

and My covenant shall stand firm with him.

29 His offspring also I will establish forever

and his throne as the days of heaven.

30 "If his children forsake My law

and do not walk in My judgments,

31 if they break My statutes

and do not keep My commandments,

32 then I will punish their transgression with the rod

and their iniquity with lashes.

33 Nevertheless My lovingkindness I will not remove from him

nor be false in My faithfulness.

34 My covenant I will not violate

nor alter the word that has gone out from My lips.

35 Once and for all I have sworn by My holiness

that I will not lie to David:

36 His offspring shall endure forever,

and his throne as the sun before Me;

37 it shall be established forever as the moon

and as a faithful witness in the heavens." Selah

38 But now You have cast off and rejected him,

You have been wrathful with Your anointed king.

39 You have renounced the covenant with Your servant;

You have defiled his crown by casting it to the ground.

40 You have broken down all his walls;

You have brought his strongholds to ruin.

41 All who pass by the way plunder him;

he is a reproach to his neighbors.

42 You have set high the right hand of his adversaries;

You have made all his enemies rejoice.

43 You have also turned back the edge of his sword

and have not made him stand in battle.

44 You have made his glory cease

and cast his throne down to the ground.

45 The days of his youth You have shortened;

You have covered him with shame. Selah

46 How long, O Lord? Will You hide Yourself forever?

How long shall Your wrath burn like fire?

47 Remember how short my time is!

Why have You made all people in such emptiness?

48 What man can live and not see death?

Who can deliver his soul from the power of Sheol? Selah

49 Lord, where are Your former lovingkindnesses,

which You swore to David in Your faithfulness?

50 Remember, O Lord, the reproach of Your servants

and how I bear in my heart the insults of the many nations,

51 which Your enemies taunt, O Lord,

with which they mock the footsteps of Your anointed king.

52 Blessed be the Lord forever!

Amen and Amen.

Psalms 89

[1] I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I

make known thy faithfulness to all generations.

[2] For I have said, Mercy shall be built up for ever: thy faithfulness

shalt thou establish in the very heavens.

[3] I have made a covenant with my chosen, I have sworn unto David my

servant,

[4] Thy seed will I establish for ever, and build up thy throne to all

generations. Selah.

[5] And the heavens shall praise thy wonders, O LORD: thy faithfulness also

in the congregation of the saints.

[6] For who in the heaven can be compared unto the LORD? who among the sons

of the mighty can be likened unto the LORD?

[7] God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be had

in reverence of all them that are about him.

[8] O LORD God of hosts, who is a strong LORD like unto thee? or to thy

faithfulness round about thee?

[9] Thou rulest the raging of the sea: when the waves thereof arise, thou

stillest them.

[10] Thou hast broken Rahab in pieces, as one that is slain; thou hast

scattered thine enemies with thy strong arm.

[11] The heavens are thine, the earth also is thine: as for the world and

the fulness thereof, thou hast founded them.

[12] The north and the south thou hast created them: Tabor and Hermon shall

rejoice in thy name.

[13] Thou hast a mighty arm: strong is thy hand, and high is thy right hand.

[14] Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne: mercy and truth

shall go before thy face.

[15] Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O

LORD, in the light of thy countenance.

[16] In thy name shall they rejoice all the day: and in thy righteousness

shall they be exalted.

[17] For thou art the glory of their strength: and in thy favour our horn

shall be exalted.

[18] For the LORD is our defence; and the Holy One of Israel is our king.

[19] Then thou spakest in vision to thy holy one, and saidst, I have laid

help upon one that is mighty; I have exalted one chosen out of the people.

[20] I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him:

[21] With whom my hand shall be established: mine arm also shall strengthen

him.

[22] The enemy shall not exact upon him; nor the son of wickedness afflict

him.

[23] And I will beat down his foes before his face, and plague them that

hate him.

[24] But my faithfulness and my mercy shall be with him: and in my name

shall his horn be exalted.

[25] I will set his hand also in the sea, and his right hand in the rivers.

[26] He shall cry unto me, Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my

salvation.

[27] Also I will make him my firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth.

[28] My mercy will I keep for him for evermore, and my covenant shall stand

fast with him.

[29] His seed also will I make to endure for ever, and his throne as the

days of heaven.

[30] If his children forsake my law, and walk not in my judgments;

[31] If they break my statutes, and keep not my commandments;

[32] Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity

with stripes.

[33] Nevertheless my lovingkindness will I not utterly take from him, nor

suffer my faithfulness to fail.

[34] My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of

my lips.

[35] Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie unto David.

[36] His seed shall endure forever, and his throne as the sun before me.

[37] It shall be established for ever as the moon, and as a faithful witness

in heaven. Selah.

[38] But thou hast cast off and abhorred, thou hast been wroth with thine

anointed.

[39] Thou hast made void the covenant of thy servant: thou hast profaned his

crown by casting it to the ground.

[40] Thou hast broken down all his hedges; thou hast brought his strong

holds to ruin.

[41] All that pass by the way spoil him: he is a reproach to his neighbours.

[42] Thou hast set up the right hand of his adversaries; thou hast made all

his enemies to rejoice.

[43] Thou hast also turned the edge of his sword, and hast not made him to

stand in the battle.

[44] Thou hast made his glory to cease, and cast his throne down to the

ground.

[45] The days of his youth hast thou shortened: thou hast covered him with

shame. Selah.

[46] How long, LORD? wilt thou hide thyself for ever? shall thy wrath burn

like fire?

[47] Remember how short my time is: wherefore hast thou made all men in

vain?

[48] What man is he that liveth, and shall not see death? shall he deliver

his soul from the hand of the grave? Selah.

[49] Lord, where are thy former lovingkindnesses, which thou swarest unto

David in thy truth?

[50] Remember, Lord, the reproach of thy servants; how I do bear in my bosom

the reproach of all the mighty people;

[51] Wherewith thine enemies have reproached, O LORD; wherewith they have

reproached the footsteps of thine anointed.

[52] Blessed be the LORD for evermore. Amen, and Amen.

Entitled The Gift of Repentance

Joel 2:12-14

Return to the Lord

12 (Jer 4:1; Hos 12:6) Yet even now, declares the Lord,

return to Me with all your heart,

and with fasting and with weeping and with mourning.

13 (Ps 34:18; Jnh 4:2) Rend your heart,

and not your garments;

return to the Lord your God,

for He is gracious and merciful,

slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love;

and He relents from punishing.

14 (Joel 1:13; Hag 2:19) Who knows? He might turn aside and relent,

and He might leave behind a blessing—

a grain offering and a food offering

for the Lord your God.

12 Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all

your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning:

13 and rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD

your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great

kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.

14 Who knoweth if he will return and repent, and leave a blessing

behind him; even a meat offering and a drink offering unto the LORD your God?

"No! I didn't do it!" Jane heard her teenage son's denial with a sinking

heart, for she knew he wasn't telling the truth. She breathed a prayer

asking God for help before asking Simon again what happened. He continued

to deny he was lying, until finally she threw her hands up in exasperation.

Saying she needed a time out, she began to walk away when she felt a hand

on her shoulder and heard his apology. He responded to the convicting

of the Holy Spirit, and repented.

In the Old Testament book of Joel, God called His people to true repentance

for their sins as He welcomed them to return to Him wholeheartedly (2:12).

God didn't seek outward acts of remorse, but rather that they would soften

their hard attitudes: "Rend your heart and not your garments." Joel reminded

the Israelites that God is "gracious and compassionate, slow to anger

and abounding in love" (v. 13).

We might find confessing our wrongdoing difficult, for in our pride we don't

want to admit our sins. Perhaps we've fudged the truth, and we justify our

actions by saying it was only "a little white lie." But when we heed God's

gentle yet firm prompting to repent, He'll forgive us and cleanse us from

all our sins (1 John 1:9). We can be free of guilt and shame, knowing

we're forgiven.

By: Amy Boucher Pye

Reflect & Pray

How did you feel when you told a "little white lie?" How did the

realisation of what you did bring conviction and ultimately repentance?

Jesus, You died on the cross so I'd be able to live in harmony

with You and the Father. May I accept Your gift of love as I speak truthfully.

Week 2 - Saved by Grace - Day 7 - Oh, Freedom!

Rom 8:1-2

Life in the Spirit

1 (1Co 1:30; 2Co 5:17) There is therefore now no condemnation

for those who are in Christ Jesus,

who walk not according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

2 (1Co 15:45; Ro 6:18; Jn 8:32) For the law of the Spirit of life

in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and death.

The Spirit of God Within You

1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus,

who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free

from the law of sin and death.

In the classic movie, I want to live! actress Susan Hayward

plays a woman convicted of murder and sentenced to be executed.

The suspense builds; the execution is delayed as the officials

wait for a word of pardon. Finally, the woman in executed;

the call comes, and the pardon has been granted, but it is too late.

When no pardon is granted, condemnation leads to death. Our sin

marks us as "guilty" before God, and we deserve the wages of sin,

which is death. But in Jesus Christ, the pardon does come - and

it comes in time. Our sin deserves condemnation by God, and yet

he forgives us because Christ paid the penalty for us,

But we face other kinds of condemnation as well - self-condemnation,

that internal accusation that we still, somehow, must pay the price

of our own sin. Others often condemn us as well, offering much less

forgiveness and mercy than God does. And the Enemy of our souls condemns

us, trying to convince us that we don't, after all, have real freedom

from sin.

Yet Paul tells us in Romans 8, "There is therefore now no condemnation

for those who are in Christ Jesus". God has forgiven us freely; he has

granted his pardon. And in light of his forgiveness, how can we live

under the condemnation of others - or even of ourselves?

We are free, Paul says - free from the "law of sin and death,"

free to live in the liberty of the Spirit. The stay of execution

has come: the pardon has been granted. Never again can we tried

for the same crimes: never again must we live under the burden

of condemnation.

Application

a) Have I ever lived under the burden of condemnation from myself

or others? Why?

b) How can Romans 8:1-2 help me live in freedom of such condemnation?

Ps 37:25-26

25 I have been young, and now am old;

yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken,

nor their offspring begging bread.

26 The righteous are gracious and lend,

and their offspring are a source of blessing.

25 I have been young, and now am old;

Yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken,

nor his seed begging bread.

26 He is ever merciful, and lendeth;

And his seed is blessed.

Mk 1:29-34; Lk 4:38-41

14 When Jesus entered Peter's house, He saw his wife's mother,

lying sick with a fever.

15 He touched her hand, and the fever left her. And she rose and served them.

16 When the evening came, they brought to Him many

who were possessed with demons.

And He cast out the spirits with His word, and healed all who were sick,

17 to fulfill what was spoken by Isaiah the prophet,

"He Himself took our infirmities

and bore our sicknesses."

[14] And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother

laid, and sick of a fever.

[15] And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and

ministered unto them.

[16] When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed

with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that

were sick:

[17] That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet,

saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

Remember God's promises when You pray

The Lord's prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

9 "Therefore pray in this manner:

Our Father who is in heaven,

hallowed be Your name.

10 (Mt 3:2; 4:17) Your kingdom come;

Your will be done

on earth, as it is in heaven.

11 (Pr 30:8; Isa 33:16) Give us this day our daily bread.

12 (Ex 34:7; Ps 32:1) And forgive us our debts,

as we forgive our debtors.

13 (1Co 10:13; Jn 17:15) And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."

9 After this manner therefore pray ye:

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

11 Give us this day our daily bread.

12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Quick facts on Muslims in Ontario

Ontario 2015 population 13 687 7000

est Muslim Population 1 001 542

CNMM Networks: Ottawa, Durham, York, Toronto, Mississauga, Halton, Hamilton,

Niagara, Kitchener, London, Windsor

Ontario has 55% of all of Canada's entire Muslim population. This means that

the whole of the Muslim world is represented somewhere in this province. Most

Muslims are understandably located along the southern border stretching

from Windsor eastward all the way up to Ottawa. Yet Muslims are constantly

resettling in more and more suburban and even small towns of Ontario. Mosques

are springing up, and where there are enough gathered, Islamic schools

are starting.

And they're not complacent, either. Many Islamic leaders are energetic in their

advancement of Islam in Canadian society. Recently in the Niagara Region,

the local mosque distributed via Canada Post as many as 50000 full-colour

brochures on Islam. An that mosque's Facebook page proudly show pictures of

"reverts", or white Canadians who have converted to Islam as a result of

receiving the flier and engaging with the mosque community. Another town

reports Muslims going door-to-door evangelism.

Agree in prayer for:

- net network leaders - the need is great

- the development of network leadership teams

- good connections with local pastors, congregations and individuals

whom God is calling into this ministry.

- wisdom facilitating outreach and training activities for mobilising

believers

- new full and part-time workers among Muslims throughout all these areas

- for pastors and churches to respond not in fear, but full of faith and love

towards Muslims, sharing Jesus with them.

30 days of prayer for the Muslim World 24 April to 23 May 2020

Under the Keep Praying page

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month

and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days

of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that

usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,

of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be

decorated and festivals will be held.

For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the

distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of

Islam.

You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",

which means Blessed Eid!"

Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you

know, and Muslims around the world:

- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions

in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about

unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such

movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three

decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim

relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.

Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,

"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;

your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.

18 Even on My menservants and maidservants

I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.

19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below:

blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,

and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes.

21 And whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."[a]

Footnotes

Acts 2:21 Joel 2:28-32.

- Pray for Christian workers an organisations focused on seeing effective

discipleship movements among Muslim people.

- Ask the Holy Spirit to continue to inspire you to have god's heart for

Muslims, to see them as He does, and to be the light that then to Jesus.

Matthew 5:14-15 : 14 "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a

hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do men light a candle and put it under

a basket, but on a candlestick. And it gives light to all who are in the

house."

Ideas for prayer

- Pray for opportunities to show the love of Christ to Muslims around you

- Pray for, and offer generous hospitality to, those you know who are serving

Christ among Muslim people -

Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."

- When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims

throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days!

And

Thank you for praying through the

5 Days of Prayer for Sikhs.

"My name is Kam. I'm 29 years of age, and I grew up Sikh. As a teenager,

I struggled with depression, brokenness, and addiction to

cannabis. I didn't know how to stop or how to get help.

Then a friend invited me to church. As I spent time with Christians

and heard the message of the Gospel, I experienced the

love of Jesus Christ, and it was like nothing I'd known before.

One night I had a dream where I saw Him - a figure surrounded by

light who I knew was Jesus, the light of the world.

As I began to understand the gospel message, I encountered a reassuring and

confident solution to the problem of sin. I knew that I needed a solution

to my sin problem, and I gave my life to Christ.

Slowly, God began to heal my broken heart and my addiction.

Nine years have passed, and I am a devoted husband and a father

to two beautiful boys. I grow deeper in love with Jesus each day.

I ask you to continue praying with me, and others around the world, for Sikhs.

God is the only one who can draw people to Himself. He works in and through

the prayers of His people. I want Sikhs to know the freedom

and healing that is only available through Jesus Christ."

13 (Ro 14:17; 12:12) Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy

and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope,

through the power of the Holy Spirit.

[13] Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that

ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.
