1 Sing aloud unto God our strength;
make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob.

at the full moon on our feast day.

ECCLESIASTES 10
1 A dead fly causes a stench in mixed anointing oil,
so a little folly is more weighty than wisdom and honor.
2 The heart of the wise inclines to the right,
but the heart of a fool to the left.
3 (Pr 13:16; 18:2) Even when a fool walks on the road,
he lacks sense,
and he shows everyone that he is a fool.
4 (Pr 25:15; Ecc 8:3) If the anger of a ruler rises against you,
do not leave your post;
for calmness pacifies great offenses.
5 There is an evil that I have seen under the sun
like an error that goes out from a ruler:
6 (Est 3:1; Pr 28:12) Folly is set in many high places,
but the rich sit in a low place.
7 (Pr 19:10; 30:22) I have seen slaves riding on horses,
and officials walking along the ground like slaves.
8 (Am 5:19; Pr 26:27) He who digs a pit will fall into it,
and whoever breaks through a wall will be bitten by a serpent.
9 He who quarries stones is injured by them,
and he who splits wood is in danger from them.
10 If an iron piece is blunt
and there is no one to sharpen it,
then he must prevail with more strength;
but wisdom is a benefit to succeed.

there is no advantage to the charmer.
12 (Lk 4:22; Pr 15:2) The words of a wise man’s mouth bring favor,
but the speech of a fool consumes him;
13 the beginning of the words of his mouth is foolishness,
and the end of his talk is evil madness.
14 (Pr 15:2; Ecc 3:22) A fool multiplies words,
though no man knows what is to be;
who can tell him what will be after him?
A man walked into a convenience store in Wollongong,
Australia, put a $20 bill on the counter and asked for change.
When the clerk opened the cash drawer, the man pulled a gun
and asked for all the cash in the register,
which the clerk promptly provided. The man took the cash
from the clerk and fled, leaving the $20 bill on the counter.
The total amount of cash he got from the drawer? Fifteen dollars.
We all act foolishly at times-even if, unlike this thief, we're trying
to do the right thing. The key is how we learn from our foolish behavior.
Without correction, our poor choices can become habits,
which will negatively shape our character.
We’ll become "fools . . . [who] lack sense" (Ecclesiastes 10:3).
Sometimes it's hard to admit our foolishness because of the extra work
it requires. Perhaps we need to reflect on a particular character flaw,
and that's painful. Or maybe we need to admit that a decision was made
hastily and next time we should take more care. Whatever the reason,
it never pays to ignore our foolish ways.
Thankfully, God can use our foolishness to discipline and shape us. Discipline
isn't "pleasant at the time," but its training yields good fruit in the long
run (Hebrews 12:11). Let’s accept our Father's discipline for our foolish
behavior and ask Him to make us more like the sons and daughters
He intends us to be.

Col 1:13-14
13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and has transferred us
into the kingdom of His dear Son,
14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.
Most of us have no real concept of darkness. We live in a world illuminated
not only by sun, moon and start, bit by streetlights and electric lamps and,
when the power goes off, flashlights and candles. We resist the darkness
For the sighted, being in absolute darkness is a frightening experience.
The dark blots out everything; we can see nothing, not even our own bodies,
and we may become disoriented. The dark seems to press in upon us,
with an almost physical weight that oppresses.
Spiritual darkness is like that. Spiritual darkness,
the absence of light in Christ, is oppressive, weighing us down,
distorting our perceptions of realty.
We cannot judge clearly, for we cannot see at all.
Yet God breaks into our darkness, bringing his light - Jesus Christ,
The Light of the World. When the awareness of Christ invades our lives,
our eyes are opened and we can see for the first time. We see our sin,
God's grace, and the Way he has provided for escape from the dark.
And as we continue to walk in his light, we see even more - the need
for changes in our lives, and God's power to work those changes.
Discernment and wisdom come through his light,
and we understand spiritual truths we could never see before.
Paul says that God has 'rescued' us from darkness and brought us
into the light. We cannot, on our own, accomplish this rescue,
but god through Christ's sacrifice brings it about in us.
He is the light who illuminates our darkness.
Application
a) Many different kinds of spiritual darkness invade our lives
and keep us blind to the truth - sin, lack of understanding,
resistance to the Holy Spirit. What kinds of spiritual darkness
have I experienced?
b) What changes took place in me when I first 'came into the light'?
c) What spiritual truths can I see now that I could not see
when I lived in darkness?

The Muslim population of Manitoba, understandably centred in Winnipeg, is very
diverse and represents some 48 different cultural and ethinic backgrounds.
Conservative estimates put their number at 21000 , with some suggesting
it might be twice that size.
Some outreach among Muslims has started, yet in comparison to the size
of this community, there is the need and opportunity for far more engagement.
Continued influx of new immigrants and refugees continues to see the growth
of this Muslim centre in Manitoba.
We rejoice in the Arabic fellowship meeting there and the energetic workers
among Muslims in Winnipeg.
Let us intercede in unity for:
- new Christian workers among Manitoba's growing Muslim population
- new church ministries focused on prayer, equipping and reaching Muslim
communities around them, as well as training new workers
- the Arabic fellowship and their ministries of discipiling new Muslim
background believers and for effectiveness in outreach
- for the recent Somali woman who found faith in Jesus and stood her ground
in the face of opposition to her new faith.
- for current workers among Muslims to be blessed, refreshed and encouraged
with great support

CONNECTED MUSLIMS ENCOUNTER GOOD NEWS
Sabrina is a Muslim from South Asia who lives with her husband
and two young children in Queens, New York. After taking care of her kids
and preparing meals, she has little time or energy for venturing out,
except for her regular visits to the mosque and produce stores.
But she can always find time to browse Facebook and other social media sites
throughout the day, and she regularly connects with her American friends
and her family back home.
One day, a video caught her eye. The audio featured a voice speaking
her native language and praying for New York City in the name of Jesus.
Intrigued, Sabrina clicked the "Message Us" button and was soon engaged
in online dialogue with a ministry team member who graciously told her
about Christ's ministry and message.
The dialogue softened her heart, but she remained skeptical,
largely because of the anti-Christian sermons she heard from imams.
Later, when Sabrina’s family faced a crisis, she used social media
to request prayer. The woman who prayed for her over the phone told Sabrina
that she too had been a Muslim but had found true peace in Jesus Christ.
Social media is empowering Muslims around the world, giving some their
first freedoms to express themselves and discover new ideas.
Christians are using digital resources to make the truth of Jesus readily
available to all who seek it, fulfilling the prophecy of Jeremiah:
"You shall seek Me and find Me, when you shall search for Me
with all your heart.I will be found by you, " (Jeremiah 29:13-14).
Pray that more Muslims will find the Lord through social media.
Pray for believers worldwide as they develop social media engagement
strategies to share Jesus and find seekers throughout the Muslim world.
Pray for Muslims online to encounter content about Jesus and see
"the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ" (2 Corinthians 4:4).
4 (2Co 4:6; Jn 12:31; Heb 1:3)The god of this world has blinded
the minds of those who do not believe,
lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God,
should shine on them.
Ask the Holy Spirit to give Muslim-background believers boldness
to share their faith through social media.

A man walked into a convenience store in Wollongong,
Australia, put a $20 bill on the counter and asked for change.
When the clerk opened the cash drawer, the man pulled a gun
and asked for all the cash in the register,
which the clerk promptly provided. The man took the cash
from the clerk and fled, leaving the $20 bill on the counter.
The total amount of cash he got from the drawer? Fifteen dollars.
We all act foolishly at times-even if, unlike this thief, we're trying
to do the right thing. The key is how we learn from our foolish behavior.
Without correction, our poor choices can become habits,
which will negatively shape our character.
We’ll become "fools . . . [who] lack sense" (Ecclesiastes 10:3).
Sometimes it's hard to admit our foolishness because of the extra work
it requires. Perhaps we need to reflect on a particular character flaw,
and that's painful. Or maybe we need to admit that a decision was made
hastily and next time we should take more care. Whatever the reason,
it never pays to ignore our foolish ways.
Thankfully, God can use our foolishness to discipline and shape us. Discipline
isn't "pleasant at the time," but its training yields good fruit in the long
run (Hebrews 12:11). Let’s accept our Father's discipline for our foolish
behavior and ask Him to make us more like the sons and daughters
He intends us to be.

Col 1:13-14
13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and has transferred us
into the kingdom of His dear Son,
14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.
Most of us have no real concept of darkness. We live in a world illuminated
not only by sun, moon and start, bit by streetlights and electric lamps and,
when the power goes off, flashlights and candles. We resist the darkness
For the sighted, being in absolute darkness is a frightening experience.
The dark blots out everything; we can see nothing, not even our own bodies,
and we may become disoriented. The dark seems to press in upon us,
with an almost physical weight that oppresses.
Spiritual darkness is like that. Spiritual darkness,
the absence of light in Christ, is oppressive, weighing us down,
distorting our perceptions of realty.
We cannot judge clearly, for we cannot see at all.
Yet God breaks into our darkness, bringing his light - Jesus Christ,
The Light of the World. When the awareness of Christ invades our lives,
our eyes are opened and we can see for the first time. We see our sin,
God's grace, and the Way he has provided for escape from the dark.
And as we continue to walk in his light, we see even more - the need
for changes in our lives, and God's power to work those changes.
Discernment and wisdom come through his light,
and we understand spiritual truths we could never see before.
Paul says that God has 'rescued' us from darkness and brought us
into the light. We cannot, on our own, accomplish this rescue,
but god through Christ's sacrifice brings it about in us.
He is the light who illuminates our darkness.
Application
a) Many different kinds of spiritual darkness invade our lives
and keep us blind to the truth - sin, lack of understanding,
resistance to the Holy Spirit. What kinds of spiritual darkness
have I experienced?
b) What changes took place in me when I first 'came into the light'?
c) What spiritual truths can I see now that I could not see
when I lived in darkness?

The Muslim population of Manitoba, understandably centred in Winnipeg, is very
diverse and represents some 48 different cultural and ethinic backgrounds.
Conservative estimates put their number at 21000 , with some suggesting
it might be twice that size.
Some outreach among Muslims has started, yet in comparison to the size
of this community, there is the need and opportunity for far more engagement.
Continued influx of new immigrants and refugees continues to see the growth
of this Muslim centre in Manitoba.
We rejoice in the Arabic fellowship meeting there and the energetic workers
among Muslims in Winnipeg.
Let us intercede in unity for:
- new Christian workers among Manitoba's growing Muslim population
- new church ministries focused on prayer, equipping and reaching Muslim
communities around them, as well as training new workers
- the Arabic fellowship and their ministries of discipiling new Muslim
background believers and for effectiveness in outreach
- for the recent Somali woman who found faith in Jesus and stood her ground
in the face of opposition to her new faith.
- for current workers among Muslims to be blessed, refreshed and encouraged
with great support

CONNECTED MUSLIMS ENCOUNTER GOOD NEWS
Sabrina is a Muslim from South Asia who lives with her husband
and two young children in Queens, New York. After taking care of her kids
and preparing meals, she has little time or energy for venturing out,
except for her regular visits to the mosque and produce stores.
But she can always find time to browse Facebook and other social media sites
throughout the day, and she regularly connects with her American friends
and her family back home.
One day, a video caught her eye. The audio featured a voice speaking
her native language and praying for New York City in the name of Jesus.
Intrigued, Sabrina clicked the "Message Us" button and was soon engaged
in online dialogue with a ministry team member who graciously told her
about Christ's ministry and message.
The dialogue softened her heart, but she remained skeptical,
largely because of the anti-Christian sermons she heard from imams.
Later, when Sabrina’s family faced a crisis, she used social media
to request prayer. The woman who prayed for her over the phone told Sabrina
that she too had been a Muslim but had found true peace in Jesus Christ.
Social media is empowering Muslims around the world, giving some their
first freedoms to express themselves and discover new ideas.
Christians are using digital resources to make the truth of Jesus readily
available to all who seek it, fulfilling the prophecy of Jeremiah:
"You shall seek Me and find Me, when you shall search for Me
with all your heart.I will be found by you, " (Jeremiah 29:13-14).
Pray that more Muslims will find the Lord through social media.
Pray for believers worldwide as they develop social media engagement
strategies to share Jesus and find seekers throughout the Muslim world.
Pray for Muslims online to encounter content about Jesus and see
"the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ" (2 Corinthians 4:4).
4 (2Co 4:6; Jn 12:31; Heb 1:3)The god of this world has blinded
the minds of those who do not believe,
lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God,
should shine on them.
Ask the Holy Spirit to give Muslim-background believers boldness
