Day 106 - 16 April 2021 Reflections

Day 106, 16 Apr 2021

Ps 56, 120, 140-142

PSALMS 56

For the Music Director.

To the melody of "Silent Dove at a Distance."

A Miktam of David, when the Philistines seized him in Gath.

1 Be gracious to me, O God, for man would crush me;

all day long he who battles oppresses me.

2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) All day long my enemies would crush me,

for there are many who arrogantly battle against me.

3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) In the day when I am afraid,

I will trust in You.

4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) In God whose word I praise,

in God I have trusted; I will not fear.

What can mere flesh do to me?

5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) Every day they twist my words;

all their thoughts are against me for evil.

6 (2Sa 17:22; Dt 3:8-9) They stir up strife, they lurk,

they watch my steps,

when they wait for my life.

7 (Ps 88:7; Jnh 2:3) Should there be deliverance for them on account of wickedness?

In Your anger cast down the peoples, O God.

8 (Job 35:10; Ps 63:6) You take account of my wandering;

put my tears in Your bottle;

are they not in Your book?

9 (Ps 38:6; 18:2) In the day I cry to You,

then my enemies will turn back;

this I know, that God is for me.

10 (Ps 42:3; Joel 2:17) In God whose word I praise,

in the Lord whose word I praise,

11 (Ps 42:5; 43:5) in God I trust, I will not fear;

what can a man do to me?

12 Your vows are on me, O God;

I will complete them with thank offerings to You;

13 for You have delivered my soul from death,

even my feet from stumbling,

to walk before God

in the light of the living.

PSALMS 120

A Song of Ascents.

1 In my distress I cried unto the Lord,

and He heard me.

2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) Deliver my soul, O Lord, from lying lips

and from a deceitful tongue.

3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) What shall be given to you,

or what shall be done to you, you false tongue?

4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) Sharp arrows of the warrior,

with coals of the broom tree!

5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) Woe is me, that I have sojourned in Meshek,

or that I have dwelled among the tents of Kedar!

6 (2Sa 17:22; Dt 3:8-9 ) My soul has long lived

with those who hate peace.

7 (Ps 88:7; Jnh 2:3) I am for peace,

but when I speak, they are for war!

PSALMS 140

For the Music Director. A Psalm of David.

1 Deliver me, O Lord, from evil men;

protect me from violent men,

2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) who plan evil deeds in their heart

and continually gather together for conflicts.

3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) They have tongues as sharp as a serpent;

adders’ poison is with their lips. Selah

4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) Keep me, O Lord, from the hands of the wicked;

preserve me from the violent men

who have planned to overthrow me.

5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) The proud have hid a snare for me,

and with cords they have spread a net;

they have set traps for me. Selah

6 (2Sa 17:22; Dt 3:8-9) I said to the Lord, "You are my God;

hear the voice of my supplications, O Lord."

7 (Ps 88:7; Jnh 2:3) O God my Lord, the strength of my salvation,

You have covered my head in the day of battle.

8 (Job 35:10; Ps 63:6) Grant not, O Lord, the desires of the wicked;

do not allow his evil plot,

lest he be raised up. Selah

9 (Ps 38:6; 18:2) As for the head of those who encompassme,

let the mischief of their own lips overwhelm them;

10 (Ps 42:3; Joel 2:17) let burning coals fall upon them;

let them be cast into the fire,

into deep pits that they do not rise up again.

11 (Ps 42:5; 43:5 ) Let not an evil speaker be established in the land;

let evil hunt the violent man to overthrow him!

12 I know that the Lord will maintain the cause of the afflicted

and will give justice to the poor.

13 Surely the righteous shall give thanks unto Your name;

the upright shall dwell in Your presence.

PSALMS 141

A Psalm of David.

1 Lord, I cry unto You; make haste to me;

give ear to my voice, when I cry unto You.

2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) Let my prayer be set forth before You as incense,

and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth;

keep watch over the door of my lips.

4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) Do not let my heart be drawn to any evil,

to practice wicked deeds

with men who do iniquity,

and do not let me eat of their delights.

5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) Let the righteous man strike me;

it shall be a kindness.

Let him rebuke me;

it shall be oil for my head;

let my head not refuse it.

For my prayer is continually against their evil deeds.

6 (2Sa 17:22; Dt 3:8-9 ) When their judges are thrown to stony places,

then they shall hear my words, for they are sweet.

7 (Ps 88:7; Jnh 2:3) As when one plows to break up the land,

so our bones are scattered at the mouth of Sheol.

8 (Job 35:10; Ps 63:6) But my eyes are unto You, O God my Lord,

in You is my trust; do not leave my soul defenseless.

9 (Ps 38:6; 18:2 Keep me from the snares that they have laid for me,

and the traps of those who do iniquity.

10 (Ps 42:3; Joel 2:17) Let the wicked fall into their own nets,

while I pass by and escape.

PSALMS 142

A Contemplative Maskil of David, when he was in the cave. A Prayer.

1 I cried unto the Lord with my voice;

with my voice I made my supplication unto the Lord.

2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) I poured out my complaint before Him;

I declared to Him my trouble.

3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) When my spirit was overwhelmed within me,

then You knew my path.

In the way where I walk,

they have laid a snare for me.

4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) I looked on my right and noticed,

but there was no one who would care for me;

there is no refuge for me;

no one cares for my soul.

5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) I cried unto You, O Lord;

I said, “You are my refuge

and my portion in the land of the living.”

6 (2Sa 17:22; Dt 3:89) Attend to my cry,

for I am brought very low;

deliver me from my persecutors,

for they are stronger than me.

7 (Ps 88:7; Jnh 2:3) Bring my soul out of prison,

that I may praise Your name;

the righteous shall surround me,

for You shall deal bountifully with me.

entitled Extending Mercy

Luke 17:1-5

LUKE 17

Some Sayings of Jesus

Mt (18:6-7, 21-22); Mk 9:42

1 (Mt 18:7; 1Co 11:19) Then He said to the disciples,

"It is impossible except that offenses will come.

But woe to him through whom they come!

2 (Mk 9:42) It would be better for him if a millstone were

hung around his neck and he was thrown into the sea,

than to offend one of these little ones.

3 (Lev 19:17; Mt 18:21) Take heed to yourselves.

"If your brother sins against you, rebuke him. And if he repents, forgive him.

4 (Mt 18:21-22) If he sins against you seven times in a day, and

seven times in a day turns to you, saying, 'I repent,' you must forgive him."

5 (Mk 6:30; 9:24) The apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith."

Reflecting on how she forgave Manasseh, the man who killed her husband

and some of her children in the Rwandan genocide, Beata said,

"My forgiving is based on what Jesus did. He took the punishment for every

evil act throughout all time. His cross is the place we find victory-

the only place!" Manasseh had written to Beata from prison more than once,

begging her-and God-for forgiveness as he detailed the regular nightmares

that plagued him. At first she could extend no mercy, saying she hated him

for killing her family. But then "Jesus intruded into her thoughts,"

and with God's help, some two years later, she forgave him.

In this, Beata followed Jesus’ instruction to His disciples to forgive

those who repent. He said that even if they "sin against you seven times

in a day and seven times come back to you saying 'I repent,'

you must forgive them" (Luke 17:4).

But to forgive can be extremely difficult, as we see

by the disciples' reaction: "Increase our faith!" (v. 5).

Beata's faith increased as she wrestled in prayer over

her inability to forgive. If, like her, we're struggling

to forgive, we can ask God through His Holy Spirit

to help us to do so. As our faith increases, He helps us to forgive.

Reflect & Pray

If someone who wronged you later repented, how did you react?

How could God help you to forgive in these situations?

Jesus, thank You for releasing me from the consequences of my

sin through Your death on the cross. I give You the glory!

Words in Season Scripture Memory Tools

Week 2 - Saved by Grace - Day 5 - It is Finished

John 5:24

24 (Jn 3:18; 1Jn 3:14; Jn 3:36) "Truly, truly I say to you, whoever hears

My word and believes in Him who sent Me has eternal life

and shall not come into condemnation, but has passed from death into life. "

"PLEASE BE PATIENT - GOD IS NOT FINISHED WITH ME YET,"

the sweatshirt read. In this case, the message was an ironic one,

for the occupant of the shirt was a snaggle-toothed, freckle-faced six year

old!

In one sense, God is not finished with the work he has to do in each of us.

Life in Christ is an ongoing process of change and growth as we become

more like him. Certainly, the more we see of ourselves, the more we hope

he isn't finished with us!

Yet whatever plans God has for making us into the men and women he created

us to be, certain aspects of our life in Christ are finisehd, finalised.

Jesus declares with absolute assurance, "whoever hears

My word and believes in Him who sent Me has eternal life

and shall not come into condemnation, but has passed from death into life. "

Because we do not have to earn or deserve God's grace, because we are not

called to prove ourselves worthy of Salvation, we can have immediate

and total assurance of the security of life in Jesus Christ. The one who

put his trust in the Lord has eternal life; he will not be condemned;

he has crossed over from death to life.

This "crossing over" into life happens in the split second when we acknowledge

our dependence upon Christ alone. And the rest of our lives is given over to

the devleopemnt of his image in us.

God is not finished with us yet. But his owkr of salvation is finished - complete,

fully dependablem an accomplished fact.

Application

a) Have I ever doubted the "accomplished fact" of my own salvation? Why?

b) How can today's verse help me realise that, although I may have a lot of

growing yet to do, my salvation in JEsus Christ is secure?

4) From Prosperity Promises - Kenneth Copeland

Joshua 1:5

5 (Dt 7:24; 31:6–8) No man will be able to stand against

you all the days of your life.

As I was with Moses, I will be with you.

I will not abandon you. I will not leave you.

5) From a Book called God's Promises for you:

God's Help in Times of Temptation

1 Cor 10:1-13

1 Corinthians 10

Warning Against Idolatry

1 (Ex 14:29; Ps 66:6) I would not want you to be unaware that

all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea,

2 and all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea;

3 (Ex 16:35; Dt 8:3) all ate the same spiritual food;

4 (Ex 17:6; Nu 20:11) and all drank the same spiritual drink,

for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them,

and that Rock was Christ.

5 (Heb 3:17; Jude 1:5) But with many of them God was not well pleased,

and they were overthrown in the wilderness.

6 (Nu 11:4; 1Co 10:11) Now these things were our examples to the intent

that we should not lust after evil things as they lusted.

7 (Ex 32:19; 32:4) Neither be idolaters as were some of them.

As it is written,

“The people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to revel.” (Ex 32:6. )

8 (Nu 25:1–9; 1Co 6:18) Neither let us commit sexual immorality as some

of them committed, when 23000 fell in one day.

9 (Nu 21:5–6; Ex 17:2) Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them

also tempted and were destroyed by serpents.

10 (Ex 12:23; Nu 16:41) Neither murmur, as some of them also murmured

and were destroyed by the destroyer.

11 (Ro 13:11) Now all these things happened to them for examples.

They are written as an admonition to us,

upon whom the end of the ages has come.

12 (Ro 11:20) Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed,

lest he fall.

13 (1Co 1:9; 2Pe 2:9) No temptation has taken you except what is common

to man. God is faithful, and He will not permit you to be tempted above

what you can endure, but will with the temptation also make a way

to escape, that you may be able to bear it.

Remember God's promises when You pray

The Lord's prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

9 "Therefore pray in this manner:

Our Father who is in heaven,

hallowed be Your name.

10 (Mt 3:2; 4:17) Your kingdom come;

Your will be done

on earth, as it is in heaven.

11 (Pr 30:8; Isa 33:16) Give us this day our daily bread.

12 (Ex 34:7; Ps 32:1) And forgive us our debts,

as we forgive our debtors.

13 (1Co 10:13; Jn 17:15) And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."

Manitoba

Quick facts on Muslims in Manitoba

Saskatchewan 2015 population 1 282 000

est Muslim Population 21 349

CNMM Networks: Winnipeg

The Muslim population of Manitoba, understandably centred in Winnipeg, is very

diverse and represents some 48 different cultural and ethinic backgrounds.

Conservative estimates put their number at 21000 , with some suggesting

it might be twice that size.

Some outreach among Muslims has started, yet in comparison to the size

of this community, there is the need and opportunity for far more engagement.

Continued influx of new immigrants and refugees continues to see the growth

of this Muslim centre in Manitoba.

We rejoice in the Arabic fellowship meeting there and the energetic workers

among Muslims in Winnipeg.

Let us intercede in unity for:

- new Christian workers among Manitoba's growing Muslim population

- new church ministries focused on prayer, equipping and reaching Muslim

communities around them, as well as training new workers

- the Arabic fellowship and their ministries of discipiling new Muslim

background believers and for effectiveness in outreach

- for the recent Somali woman who found faith in Jesus and stood her ground

in the face of opposition to her new faith.

- for current workers among Muslims to be blessed, refreshed and encouraged

with great support

30 days of prayer for the Muslim World 13 April to 12 May 2021

From https://www.30daysprayer.com/

Afghanistan has faced war and terrorism since the late 1970s,

as Russian troops, Taliban terrorists, and American forces

have fought to restore order.

Decades of war have turned displaced Afghans into one of the

world's largest diaspora populations, and many of these refugees

struggle with PTSD and other mental health issues caused

by the ongoing carnage and chaos.

The Greater Toronto Area is home to a large Afghan community.

Most are Sunni Muslims, and many have survived trauma, including Obed.

Born into a Muslim family in Afghanistan, Obed planned to become an imam,

or Muslim leader, before he began trusting Christ-a dangerous decision

in his country. He lived as a secret believer for years, but after his family

discovered his Christian faith, he fled, spending almost nine years

as a refugee in India.

During his time in India, Obed attended Bible college,

planted an Afghan church, served as the leader of the Afghan Christian

Refugees Community, and worked as a radio producer with TWR India

and an audio interpreter for ISO ministries.

He also founded a Christian charity called Dari Fellowship of India,

but New Delhi's Muslim community persecuted him and his church.

Obed resettled in Canada in 2015, joining the Jesus Network

and starting a house church in his home. His social media ministry

produces weekly teaching videos on Facebook and YouTube,

where he has hundreds of followers.

Obed's goal is to plant churches in the Toronto area and to reach Muslims

who speak Farsi, Dari, Hazaragi, Pashto, Tajiki, Urdu, Hindi,

and even English.

Please pray that:

Afghans struggling to overcome a history of oppression and violence

will find refuge in the Lord (Psalm 9:9-10).

9 (Ps 38:6; 18:2) The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed,

a refuge in times of trouble.

10 (Ps 42:3; Joel 2:17) Those who know Your name will put their trust in You,

for You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.

The Lord will raise up laborers among Afghans in the Toronto area

to evangelize disciple believers and start churches.

Christians in Canada can be instruments of peace who show the power of

Christ's love to their Afghan neighbors.
