Day 79 of My 4th Bible Study Journey - 19 March 2024 reflections
Day 79, 19 March 2024
1) Deuteronomy 28,29
DEUTERONOMY 28
Blessings for Obedience
1 (Ex 15:26; Lev 26:3-13) Now it will be, if you will diligently
obey the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to do all
His commandments which I am commanding you today, t
hen the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth.
2 (Zec 1:6; Dt 28:15) And all these blessings will come on you and overtake
you if you listen to the voice of the Lord your God.
3 (Ge 39:5) You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the field.
4 (Ge 49:25; Dt 7:13) Your offspring will be blessed, and the produce
of your ground, and the offspring of your livestock, the increase
of your herd and the flocks of your sheep.
5 Your basket and your kneading bowl will be blessed.
6 (Ps 121:8) You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out.
7 (Lev 26:7-8; Dt 28:25) The Lord will cause your enemies who rise up against
you to be defeated before you; they will come out against you one way and
flee before you seven ways.
8 (Lev 25:21; Dt 15:10) The Lord will command the blessing on you in your
barns and in all that you set your hand to do, and He will bless you in the
land which the Lord your God is giving you.
9 (Ex 19:5-6; Dt 7:6; 13:17) The Lord will establish you as a holy people
to Himself, just as He swore to you, if you will keep the commandments
of the Lord your God and walk in His ways.
10 (2Ch 7:14; Nu 6:27) All people of the earth shall see that you are called
by the name of the Lord, and they shall be afraid of you.
11 (Dt 28:4; 30:9) The Lord will make you overflow in prosperity,
in the offspring of your body, in the offspring of your livestock,
and in the produce of your ground, in the land which the Lord
swore to your fathers to give you.
12 (Lev 26:4; Dt 15:6) The Lord will open up to you His good treasure,
the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season and to bless all
the work of your hand. You will lend to many nations, but you will
not borrow.
13 (Dt 28:1; Isa 9:14-15) The Lord will make you the head and not the tail;
you will only be above and you will not be beneath, if you listen to the
commandments of the Lord your God, which I am commanding you today,
to observe and to do them.
14 (Dt 5:32) Also, you shall not turn aside from any of the words which
I am commanding you today, to the right hand or to the left, to go after
other gods to serve them.
[1] And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the
voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I
command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all
nations of the earth:
[2] And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou
shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.
[3] Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the
field.
[4] Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and
the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy
sheep.
[5] Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store.
[6] Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be
when thou goest out.
[7] The LORD shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be
smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee
before thee seven ways.
[8] The LORD shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in
all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land
which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
[9] The LORD shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath
sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God,
and walk in his ways.
[10] And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name
of the LORD; and they shall be afraid of thee.
[11] And the LORD shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy
body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the
land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers to give thee.
[12] The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the
rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand:
and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.
[13] And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt
be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the
commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe
and to do them:
[14] And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee
this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve
them.
Warnings Against Disobedience
15 (Mal 2:2; Dt 28:2) But it will happen, if you will not listen to the voice
of the Lord your God, by being careful to do all His commandments and
His statutes which I am commanding you today, that all these curses will
come upon you and overtake you.
16 You will be cursed in the city and cursed in the field.
17 (Dt 28:5) Your basket and your kneading bowl will be cursed.
18 (Dt 28:4) Your offspring will be cursed along with the fruit of your land,
the produce of your herd, and the flocks of your sheep.
19 (Dt 28:6) You will be cursed when you come in and cursed when you go out.
20 (Isa 51:20; 66:15) The Lord will send cursing, vexation, and rebuke on you
in all that you set your hand to do, until you are destroyed and until
you perish quickly because of the wickedness of your doings, by which you
have forsaken Me.
21 (Lev 26:25; Jer 24:10) The Lord will make pestilence cling to you until
it has consumed you from the land, which you are going to possess.
22 (Lev 26:16; Am 4:9) The Lord will strike you with a wasting disease,
with a fever, with an inflammation, with an extreme heat, with the sword,
with blight, and with mildew, and they shall pursue you until you perish.
23 (Lev 26:19) The heavens which are over your head will be bronze,
and the earth that is under you will be iron.
24 (Dt 28:12) The Lord will make the rain of your land powder and dust.
It will come from heaven down on you until you are destroyed.
25 (Isa 30:17; Eze 23:46) The Lord will cause you to be defeated
before your enemies, and you will go out one way against them
and flee seven ways before them, and will be become an object
of terror to all the kingdoms of the earth.
26 (Jer 7:33; 16:4) Your carcass will be meat for all the fowls of the air
and beasts of the earth, and no man will frighten them away.
27 (1Sa 5:6; Ex 9:9) The Lord will strike you with the boils of Egypt
and with tumors, eczema, and with the itch, from which you cannot be healed.
28 The Lord will strike you with madness, and blindness,
and bewilderment of heart.
29 (Job 5:14; Isa 59:10) You will grope at noon, as the blind man gropes
in darkness, and you will not prosper in your ways. You will only be
oppressed and continually robbed, and no man will save you.
30 (Am 5:11; Jer 8:10; Job 31:10) You will be engaged to a woman
and another man shall rape her. You will build a house,
but you will not dwell in it. You will plant a vineyard,
but you will not gather its grapes.
31 Your ox will be killed before your eyes, and you will not eat of it.
Your donkey will be violently taken away from before you
and will not be returned to you. Your sheep will be given to your enemies,
and you will have no one to rescue them.
32 (Dt 28:41; 2Ch 29:9) Your sons and your daughters will be given to another
people. Your eyes will look and fail with longing for them all day long,
but there will be nothing you can do.
33 (Jer 5:17) A nation that you do not know will consume the produce
of your land and all your labors, and you will be nothing
but oppressed and crushed all the time.
34 You will go insane because of what your eyes will see.
35 (Dt 28:27) The Lord will strike you in the knees and legs with sore boils
that cannot be healed, from the sole of your foot to the top of your head.
36 (Dt 4:28; 2Ki 25:11) The Lord will bring you and your king, which you
will set over you, to a nation which neither you nor your fathers have known,
and there you will serve other gods, wood and stone.
37 (Jer 24:9; 1Ki 9:7-8) You will become a horror, a proverb, and an object of
ridicule among all nations where the Lord shall lead you.
38 (Joel 1:4; Mic 6:15) You will carry a lot of seed out into the field
but will gather but little in, for the locust will consume it.
39 You will plant vineyards and dress them, but will neither drink
of the wine nor gather the grapes, for worms will eat them.
40 (Mic 6:15) You will have olive trees throughout all your coasts,
but you will not anoint yourself with the oil, for your olive will drop off.
41 (Dt 28:32; La 1:5) You will give birth to sons and daughters, but you will
not enjoy them, for they will go into captivity.
42 The locust will consume all of your trees and fruit of your land.
43 (Dt 28:13) The foreigner who resides with you will get up higher
and higher, and you will go down lower and lower.
44 (Dt 28:12-13) He will lend to you, but you will not lend to him.
He will be the head, but you will be the tail.
45 (Dt 28:15) Moreover, all of these curses will come on you
and will pursue you and overtake you, until you are destroyed,
because you did not obey the voice of the Lord your God,
by keeping His commandments and His statutes which He commanded you.
46 (Isa 8:18; Eze 14:8) They will be a perpetual sign and wonder
in regard to you and your descendants,
47 because you did not serve the Lord your God with joy
and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things.
48 (Jer 28:13-14) Therefore, you will serve your enemies
whom the Lord will send against you, in hunger, thirst, nakedness,
and need of all things, and He will put a yoke of iron on your neck
until He has destroyed you.
49 (La 4:19; Hos 8:1) The Lord will bring a nation against you from
far away, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flies,
a nation whose language you will not understand,
50 (Isa 47:6; 2Ch 36:17) a nation with a fierce countenance,
which will not respect the old or show favor to the young.
51 (Dt 28:33; Isa 62:8) They will eat the offspring of your livestock
and the produce of your land, until you are destroyed.
They will leave you no grain, wine, or oil, or the offspring of your herd
or the offspring of your sheep, until they have destroyed you.
52 He will lay siege on you in all your towns until your high
and fortified walls in which you trusted come down throughout
all your land, and he will lay siege on you in all your towns
throughout all your land which the Lord your God has given you.
53 (La 2:20; Lev 26:29; 2Ki 6:28-29) You will eat the offspring of your
own body, the flesh of your sons and of your daughters, which the
Lord your God has given you, during the siege and distress
in which your enemies will persecute you.
54 (Dt 13:6; 15:9) The man who is tender among you, and very delicate,
his eye shall be hostile toward his brother and toward his beloved wife
and toward the rest of his children who remain,
55 so that he will not give to any of them any of the flesh of his children
which he will eat, because he has nothing left to him because of the siege
and the distress by which your enemies will persecute you in all your towns.
56 The tender and delicate woman among you, who would not venture
to set the sole of her foot on the ground because of her delicateness
and tenderness, will be hostile toward her beloved husband,
and toward her son and her daughter,
57 and toward her afterbirth that comes out from between her legs,
and toward her children whom she will bear. For she will secretly
eat them because of lack during the siege and distress in which
your enemy will persecute you in your towns.
58 (Isa 42:8) If you are not careful to observe all the words of this law
that are written in this book so that you may fear this glorious
and fearful name, the Lord your God,
59 then the Lord will bring extraordinary plagues on you
and your descendants, even great long-lasting plagues,
and severe and long-lasting sicknesses.
60 (Dt 7:15) Moreover, He will bring all the diseases of Egypt upon you,
which you were afraid of, and they will cling to you.
61 Also every sickness and every plague which is not written in the Book
of the Law will the Lord bring upon you until you are destroyed.
62 (Dt 4:27; 10:22) You will be left few in number, whereas you were
as numerous as the stars of heaven, because you would not obey
the voice of the Lord your God.
63 (Pr 1:26; Jer 32:41) It will be that as the Lord rejoiced over you to do
you good and to multiply you, so the Lord will take pleasure over you
to destroy you and to bring you to nothing. You will be plucked from
off the land which you go to possess.
64 (Lev 26:33; Dt 4:27-28) The Lord will scatter you among all the peoples,
from the one end of the earth to the other, and there you will serve
other gods, wood and stone, which neither you nor your fathers have known.
65 (Lev 26:36; 26:16) Among these nations you will find no ease, nor will
the sole of your foot have rest. But there the Lord will give you
a trembling heart, failing of eyes, and despair of soul.
66 Your life shall hang in doubt before you. You will be in dread day
and night and will have no assurance of your life.
67 (Dt 28:34; Job 7:3-4) In the morning you will say,
"Would to God it were evening!" And at evening you will say,
"Would to God it were morning!" because of the fear of your heart
and because of the sights your eyes will see.
68 (Dt 17:16; Jer 43:7) The Lord will bring you into Egypt again with ships,
by the way by which I spoke to you, "You will not see it ever again."
And there you will be sold to your enemies as male and female slaves,
but no one will buy you.
[15] But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of
the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes
which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee,
and overtake thee:
[16] Cursed shalt thou be in the city, and cursed shalt thou be in the
field.
[17] Cursed shall be thy basket and thy store.
[18] Cursed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy land, the
increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.
[19] Cursed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and cursed shalt thou be when
thou goest out.
[20] The LORD shall send upon thee cursing, vexation, and rebuke, in all
that thou settest thine hand unto for to do, until thou be destroyed, and
until thou perish quickly; because of the wickedness of thy doings, whereby
thou hast forsaken me.
[21] The LORD shall make the pestilence cleave unto thee, until he have
consumed thee from off the land, whither thou goest to possess it.
[22] The LORD shall smite thee with a consumption, and with a fever, and
with an inflammation, and with an extreme burning, and with the sword, and
with blasting, and with mildew; and they shall pursue thee until thou
perish.
[23] And thy heaven that is over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that
is under thee shall be iron.
[24] The LORD shall make the rain of thy land powder and dust: from heaven
shall it come down upon thee, until thou be destroyed.
[25] The LORD shall cause thee to be smitten before thine enemies: thou
shalt go out one way against them, and flee seven ways before them: and
shalt be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth.
[26] And thy carcase shall be meat unto all fowls of the air, and unto the
beasts of the earth, and no man shall fray them away.
[27] The LORD will smite thee with the botch of Egypt, and with the emerods,
and with the scab, and with the itch, whereof thou canst not be healed.
[28] The LORD shall smite thee with madness, and blindness, and astonishment
of heart:
[29] And thou shalt grope at noonday, as the blind gropeth in darkness, and
thou shalt not prosper in thy ways: and thou shalt be only oppressed and
spoiled evermore, and no man shall save thee.
[30] Thou shalt betroth a wife, and another man shall lie with her: thou
shalt build an house, and thou shalt not dwell therein: thou shalt plant a
vineyard, and shalt not gather the grapes thereof.
[31] Thine ox shall be slain before thine eyes, and thou shalt not eat
thereof: thine ass shall be violently taken away from before thy face, and
shall not be restored to thee: thy sheep shall be given unto thine enemies,
and thou shalt have none to rescue them.
[32] Thy sons and thy daughters shall be given unto another people, and
thine eyes shall look, and fail with longing for them all the day long: and
there shall be no might in thine hand.
[33] The fruit of thy land, and all thy labours, shall a nation which thou
knowest not eat up; and thou shalt be only oppressed and crushed alway:
[34] So that thou shalt be mad for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt
see.
[35] The LORD shall smite thee in the knees, and in the legs, with a sore
botch that cannot be healed, from the sole of thy foot unto the top of thy
head.
[36] The LORD shall bring thee, and thy king which thou shalt set over thee,
unto a nation which neither thou nor thy fathers have known; and there shalt
thou serve other gods, wood and stone.
[37] And thou shalt become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword, among
all nations whither the LORD shall lead thee.
[38] Thou shalt carry much seed out into the field, and shalt gather but
little in; for the locust shall consume it.
[39] Thou shalt plant vineyards, and dress them, but shalt neither drink of
the wine, nor gather the grapes; for the worms shall eat them.
[40] Thou shalt have olive trees throughout all thy coasts, but thou shalt
not anoint thyself with the oil; for thine olive shall cast his fruit.
[41] Thou shalt beget sons and daughters, but thou shalt not enjoy them; for
they shall go into captivity.
[42] All thy trees and fruit of thy land shall the locust consume.
[43] The stranger that is within thee shall get up above thee very high; and
thou shalt come down very low.
[44] He shall lend to thee, and thou shalt not lend to him: he shall be the
head, and thou shalt be the tail.
[45] Moreover all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall pursue thee,
and overtake thee, till thou be destroyed; because thou hearkenedst not unto
the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes
which he commanded thee:
[46] And they shall be upon thee for a sign and for a wonder, and upon thy
seed for ever.
[47] Because thou servedst not the LORD thy God with joyfulness, and with
gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things;
[48] Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which the LORD shall send
against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all
things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have
destroyed thee.
[49] The LORD shall bring a nation against thee from far, from the end of
the earth, as swift as the eagle flieth; a nation whose tongue thou shalt
not understand;
[50] A nation of fierce countenance, which shall not regard the person of
the old, nor shew favour to the young:
[51] And he shall eat the fruit of thy cattle, and the fruit of thy land,
until thou be destroyed: which also shall not leave thee either corn, wine,
or oil, or the increase of thy kine, or flocks of thy sheep, until he have
destroyed thee.
[52] And he shall besiege thee in all thy gates, until thy high and fenced
walls come down, wherein thou trustedst, throughout all thy land: and he
shall besiege thee in all thy gates throughout all thy land, which the LORD
thy God hath given thee.
[53] And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons
and of thy daughters, which the LORD thy God hath given thee, in the siege,
and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee:
[54] So that the man that is tender among you, and very delicate, his eye
shall be evil toward his brother, and toward the wife of his bosom, and
toward the remnant of his children which he shall leave:
[55] So that he will not give to any of them of the flesh of his children
whom he shall eat: because he hath nothing left him in the siege, and in the
straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee in all thy gates.
[56] The tender and delicate woman among you, which would not adventure to
set the sole of her foot upon the ground for delicateness and tenderness,
her eye shall be evil toward the husband of her bosom, and toward her son,
and toward her daughter,
[57] And toward her young one that cometh out from between her feet, and
toward her children which she shall bear: for she shall eat them for want of
all things secretly in the siege and straitness, wherewith thine enemy shall
distress thee in thy gates.
[58] If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are
written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name,
THE LORD THY GOD;
[59] Then the LORD will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy
seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and
of long continuance.
[60] Moreover he will bring upon thee all the diseases of Egypt, which thou
wast afraid of; and they shall cleave unto thee.
[61] Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book
of this law, them will the LORD bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed.
[62] And ye shall be left few in number, whereas ye were as the stars of
heaven for multitude; because thou wouldest not obey the voice of the LORD
thy God.
[63] And it shall come to pass, that as the LORD rejoiced over you to do you
good, and to multiply you; so the LORD will rejoice over you to destroy you,
and to bring you to nought; and ye shall be plucked from off the land
whither thou goest to possess it.
[64] And the LORD shall scatter thee among all people, from the one end of
the earth even unto the other; and there thou shalt serve other gods, which
neither thou nor thy fathers have known, even wood and stone.
[65] And among these nations shalt thou find no ease, neither shall the sole
of thy foot have rest: but the LORD shall give thee there a trembling heart,
and failing of eyes, and sorrow of mind:
[66] And thy life shall hang in doubt before thee; and thou shalt fear day
and night, and shalt have none assurance of thy life:
[67] In the morning thou shalt say, Would God it were even! and at even thou
shalt say, Would God it were morning! for the fear of thine heart wherewith
thou shalt fear, and for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.
[68] And the LORD shall bring thee into Egypt again with ships, by the way
whereof I spake unto thee, Thou shalt see it no more again: and there ye
shall be sold unto your enemies for bondmen and bondwomen, and no man shall
buy you.
DEUTERONOMY 29
Renewal of the Covenant
1 (Dt 5:2-3) These are the words of the covenant which the Lord commanded
Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab,
besides the covenant which He made with them in Horeb.
[1] These are the words of the covenant, which the LORD commanded Moses
to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, beside
the covenant which he made with them in Horeb.
2 (Ex 19:4) Moses proclaimed to all Israel, and said to them:
You have seen all that the Lord did before your eyes in the land of Egypt,
to Pharaoh and all his servants and to all his land-
3 the great temptations which your eyes have seen,
those signs and great wonders.
4 (Ac 28:26-27; Isa 6:9-10) Yet to this day the Lord has not given you
a heart to know, eyes to see, and ears to hear.
5 (Dt 8:4; 1:3) I have led you forty years in the wilderness.
Your clothes have not worn out on you, and your sandal
has not worn out on your foot.
6 (Dt 8:3; Eph 5:18) You have not eaten bread, nor have you drunk wine
or strong drink, so that you might know that I am the Lord your God.
7 When you came to this place, Sihon, the king of Heshbon,
and Og, the king of Bashan, came out against us to battle,
and we defeated them.
8 (Nu 32:33; Dt 3:12-13) We took their land and gave it as an inheritance
to the Reubenites, the Gadites, and to half of the tribe of Manasseh.
9 (Dt 4:6; Jos 1:7) Therefore, keep the words of this covenant and do them,
so that you may prosper in all you do.
10 Today all of you stand before the Lord your God, the heads of your tribes,
your elders, and your officers, with all the men of Israel,
11 (Ex 12:38) your little ones, your wives, and your foreigners who are
in your camp, from the one who chops your wood to the one who draws
your water-
12 (2Ch 15:12-15) so that you should enter into a covenant with the Lord
your God, and into His oath, which the Lord your God is making with you today.
13 (Ge 17:7; Ex 6:7) Today He will establish that you are His people
and that He is your God, just as He has said to you and He has sworn
to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.
14 It is not with you alone that I am making this covenant and this oath,
15 (Ac 2:39) but with him who stands here with us today before the Lord
our God, and with him who is not here with us today
16 (for you know that we lived in the land of Egypt and how we came
through the nations which you passed by,
17 and you have seen their abominations and their idols of wood
and stone, of silver and gold, which were among them);
18 (Heb 12:15) lest there be among you a man or woman
or family or tribe whose heart turns away today from the Lord our God
to go and serve the gods of these nations, and lest there be among you
a root bearing poisonous and bitter fruit;
19 (Nu 15:30) and it happens that, when he hears the words of this covenant,
he blesses himself in his heart, saying,
"I shall have peace, even though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart,-
thus destroying the watered ground with the dry.
20 (Ps 74:1; Dt 9:14; Ps 79:5) The Lord will not spare him;
rather the anger of the Lord and His jealousy will smolder
against that man. All the curses that are written in this book
will rest on him, and the Lord will blot out his name from under heaven.
21 The Lord will single him out for disaster out of all the tribes of Israel,
according to all the curses of the covenant that are written
in this Book of the Law.
22 The generation to come, your children who will rise up after you
and the foreigner who will come from a far land, when they see
the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses
which the Lord has laid on it, will say,
23 (Jer 17:6; Zep 2:9) "The whole land is brimstone and salt,
a burning waste, unsown and unproductive, and no grass grows there,
like the overthrow of SodÂom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboyim,
which the Lord overthrew in His anger and wrath."
24 (Jer 22:8-9; 1Ki 9:8-9) All nations will say,
"Why has the Lord done such to this land?
What does the heatedness of this great anger mean?"
25 Then men will say, "Because they have forsaken the covenant
of the Lord God of their fathers, which He made with them when
He brought them out of the land of Egypt.
26 For they went and served other gods, and worshipped them,
gods which they did not know and which He had not given to them.
27 (Dt 28:15-68; Da 9:11-14) The anger of the Lord burned against this land,
bringing on it all the curses that are written in this book.
28 (2Ch 7:20; 1Ki 14:15) The Lord rooted them out of their land in anger
and in wrath and in great indignation, and threw them into another land,
as it is today."
29 (Ac 1:7; 2Ti 3:16) The secret things belong to the Lord our God,
but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children
forever, so that we may keep all the words of this law.
[2] And Moses called unto all Israel, and said unto them, Ye have seen
all that the LORD did before your eyes in the land of Egypt unto Pharaoh,
and unto all his servants, and unto all his land;
[3] The great temptations which thine eyes have seen, the signs,
and those great miracles:
[4] Yet the LORD hath not given you an heart to perceive,
and eyes to see, and ears to hear, unto this day.
[5] And I have led you forty years in the wilderness: your clothes are not
waxen old upon you, and thy shoe is not waxen old upon thy foot.
[6] Ye have not eaten bread, neither have ye drunk wine or strong drink:
that ye might know that I am the LORD your God.
[7] And when ye came unto this place, Sihon the king of Heshbon, and Og
the king of Bashan, came out against us unto battle, and we smote them:
[8] And we took their land, and gave it for an inheritance unto the
Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half tribe of Manasseh.
[9] Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may
prosper in all that ye do.
[10] Ye stand this day all of you before the LORD your God; your captains
of your tribes, your elders, and your officers, with all the men of Israel,
[11] Your little ones, your wives, and thy stranger that is in thy camp,
from the hewer of thy wood unto the drawer of thy water:
[12] That thou shouldest enter into covenant with the LORD thy God, and into
his oath, which the LORD thy God maketh with thee this day:
[13] That he may establish thee to day for a people unto himself, and that
he may be unto thee a God, as he hath said unto thee, and as he hath sworn
unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.
[14] Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath;
[15] But with him that standeth here with us this day before the LORD our
God, and also with him that is not here with us this day:
[16] (For ye know how we have dwelt in the land of Egypt; and how we came
through the nations which ye passed by;
[17] And ye have seen their abominations, and their idols, wood and stone,
silver and gold, which were among them:)
[18] Lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe,
whose heart turneth away this day from the LORD our God, to go and serve the
gods of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that beareth
gall and wormwood;
[19] And it come to pass, when he heareth the words of this curse, that he
bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the
imagination of mine heart, to add drunkenness to thirst:
[20] The LORD will not spare him, but then the anger of the LORD and his
jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written
in this book shall lie upon him, and the LORD shall blot out his name from
under heaven.
[21] And the LORD shall separate him unto evil out of all the tribes of
Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant that are written in this
book of the law:
[22] So that the generation to come of your children that shall rise up
after you, and the stranger that shall come from a far land, shall say, when
they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses which the LORD hath
laid upon it;
[23] And that the whole land thereof is brimstone, and salt, and burning,
that it is not sown, nor beareth, nor any grass groweth therein, like the
overthrow of Sodom, and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, which the LORD
overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath:
[24] Even all nations shall say, Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this
land? what meaneth the heat of this great anger?
[25] Then men shall say, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD
God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out
of the land of Egypt:
[26] For they went and served other gods, and worshipped them, gods whom
they knew not, and whom he had not given unto them:
[27] And the anger of the LORD was kindled against this land, to bring upon
it all the curses that are written in this book:
[28] And the LORD rooted them out of their land in anger, and in wrath, and
in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as it is this day.
[29] The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which
are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all
the words of this law.

Master in Heaven
Colossians 3:22-4:1
22 (Col 3:20) Servants, obey your masters in all things according
to the flesh, serving not only when they are watching, as the servants
of men, but in singleness of heart, fearing God.
23 (Col 3:17) And whatever you do, do it heartily,
as for the Lord and not for men,
24 (1Co 7:22; Eph 6:8) knowing that from the Lord you will receive
the reward of the inheritance. For you serve the Lord Christ.
25 (Ac 10:34; Dt 10:17) But he who does wrong will receive
for the wrong which he has done, and there is no partiality.
[22] Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not
with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God:
[23] And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
[24] Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the
inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.
[25] But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done:
and there is no respect of persons.
Colossians 4
1 Masters, give to your servants that which is just and fair,
knowing that you also have a Master in heaven.
[1] Masters, give unto your servants that which is just and equal; knowing
that ye also have a Master in heaven.
Singapore's Ministry of Manpower announced in 2022 that all migrant domestic
workers must be given at least one rest day a month that employers couldn't
compensate them for instead of giving them the day off. Employers, however,
were concerned they wouldn't have someone to care for their loved ones
on those days. While the logistics of caregiving could be solved by making
alternative arrangements, their attitude in not seeing the need for rest
wasn't as easy to solve.
Treating others considerately isn't a new issue. The apostle Paul lived
in a time where servants were seen as the property of their masters. Yet,
in the last line of his instructions to the church on how Christlike
households should operate, he says that masters are to treat their servants
"justly" (Colossians 4:1 esv). Another translation says,
"Be fair with them" (the message).
Just as Paul tells the servants to work "for the Lord, not for human masters"
(3:23), he reminds the masters also of Jesus' authority over them:
"you also have a Master in heaven" (4:1). His purpose was to encourage the
Colossian believers to live as those whose ultimate authority is Christ.
In our interaction with others-whether as an employer, employee, in our homes
or communities-we can ask God to help us do what's "right and fair" (v. 1).

Reflect & Pray
When haven’t you treated someone fairly? In your work or home,
what changes will you make to treat others considerately?
Heavenly Father, please forgive me for times when I don't treat
others fairly. Help me to submit to You as the Master of my life.

Week 3 - Saved Now and Forever - Day 3 - Inseparable From God's Love
Romans 8:38-39
38 (Eph 1:21; 1Pe 3:22) For I am persuaded that neither death nor life,
neither angels nor principalities nor powers, neither things present
nor things to come,
39 (Ro 5:8) neither height nor depth, nor any other created thing,
shall be able to separate us from the love of God,
which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
[38] For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor
principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
[39] Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to
separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Separation is a fact of human life. Relationships disintegrate,
children grow up, loved ones die, husbands and wives divorce,
friends changes and drift apart. We may resist change and separation,
but we must deal with them nevertheless.
Separation sometimes is a natural result of growth and development;
sometimes it is a violent, cataclysmic shaking of an individual's life.
2 lifelong friends go separate ways to college or into future careers;
a church splits over doctrinal differences; a wife finds out a hidden
secret in her husband's past.
But with God, there is no separation, no death, no breaking of vows,
no growing beyond the relationship. Nothing, says Paul, can separate
us from the love of God. A skeleton in my closet, once revealed, may
cost me the trust of those I thought were my friends. But God knows
all my past, all my sin; he forgives, and it cannot separate me from him.
My present personal struggles may cause trouble in my job and result in
the loss of that income, but God understands what I'm going through,
and even when I'm angry at him, he can take it without drawing away
or striking back. My present problems cannot separate me from the Lord.
And God knows, too, the plan he has established for my future. I cannot
walk away from him, grow beyond my need for him, or outrun him into
tomorrow.
She may separate me from my awareness of God's presence in my life,
but it cannot set me beyond his reach. There is no power that is greater
than God's love, and no place I can go that will separate me
from that love.

Deut 8:18
18 But you must remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you
the ability to get wealth, so that He may establish His covenant which

18 But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee
power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto
thy fathers, as it is this day.

When you are lonely
PSALMS 25:15-21
15 My eyes are ever toward the Lord,
for He will lead my feet from the net.
16 Turn to me, and be gracious to me,
for I am isolated and afflicted.
17 The troubles of my heart are enlarged;
bring me out of my distresses.
18 Look on my pain and misery,
and forgive all my sins.
19 Consider my enemies, for they are many,
and they hate me with violent hatred.
20 Watch over my life, and deliver me!
Let me not suffer shame,
for I seek refuge in You.
21 Truth and integrity will preserve me
while I wait for You.
15 Mine eyes are ever toward the LORD;
For he shall pluck my feet out of the net.
16 Turn thee unto me, and have mercy upon me;
For I am desolate and afflicted.
17 The troubles of my heart are enlarged:
O bring thou me out of my distresses.
18 Look upon mine affliction and my pain;
And forgive all my sins.
19 Consider mine enemies; for they are many;
And they hate me with cruel hatred.
20 O keep my soul, and deliver me:
Let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in thee.
21 Let integrity and uprightness preserve me;
For I wait on thee.

The Lord's prayer
Matthew 6:9-13
9 "Therefore pray in this manner:
Our Father who is in heaven,
hallowed be Your name.
10 (Mt 3:2; 4:17) Your kingdom come;
Your will be done
on earth, as it is in heaven.
11 (Pr 30:8; Isa 33:16) Give us this day our daily bread.
12 (Ex 34:7; Ps 32:1) And forgive us our debts,
as we forgive our debtors.
13 (1Co 10:13; Jn 17:15) And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."
9 After this manner therefore pray ye:
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Saskatchewan
Quick facts on Muslims in Saskatchewan
Saskatchewan 2015 population 1125400
est Muslim Population 17279
CNMM Networks: Saskatoon
Saskatoon has seen quick growth in its Muslim population over the past
5 years, which maybe as high as 5000 today. Islamic leaders have
focused specifically on this city , having twice already sent cohorts
of about 70 families to start mosques. There are now 7 Islamic centres
of worship and an Islamic madrassah (school) located right next to a
Christian school.
Of particular concern recently is the number of young adults who grew up
in evangelical churches and converted to Islam. Most of these are young
women who were wooed by Muslim man and became emotionally bonded.
Both prior to and after marrying, these women are known to convert to ISlam.
Agree in prayer with us for:
- entire congregations and individual believers to catch God's heart
and passion for reaching Muslims in Saskatoon and the other growing
Muslim population centres of Saskatchewan.
- for the eyes and understanding of Canadian youth to be opened to the
spiritual reality of Islam, and not deceived nor manipulated into
converting to a religion which cannot offer assurance of salvation.
- for the few workers among Muslims now engaged there, and for many more
to be raised up into effective witness.
- for prayer and training events that are starting in Saskatoon
to spread and grow to other cities.

Pray for the Saharawi of Algeria
Isaiah 41:18
18 (Ps 107:35; Isa 30:25) I will open rivers in high places,
and fountains in the midst of the valleys;
I will make the wilderness a pool of water,
and the dry land springs of water.
[18] I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the
valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land
springs of water.
Bashir sits in the shade in front of his parents' house and prepares
traditional tea. He lives in one of the Saharawi refugee camps in the
desert of southwestern Algeria. He and his compatriots feel forgotten
by the world.
After Spain abandoned its colonial occupation of Western Sahara in 1975,
Morocco and Mauritania annexed the territory. This led to a long-lasting
war that forced thousands and thousands of Saharawis to flee their homeland
to Algeria. Around 180,000 Saharawis have been stranded there since 1991
in what has become one of the oldest refugee camps in the world. There is
little food, medical care or education. Every day is a struggle for survival.
Living in the desert, where the climate is harsh and temperatures can reach
50 degrees Celsius, refugees rely on food assistance provided by aid agencies
Living for so long without a home and without basic needs has led to much
despair. The Saharawi's spiritual situation is also tragic. Like the desert
in which they live, their hope has dried up. They have very little opportunity
to hear of the God who wants to give them living water. There are hardly any
followers of Jesus among the Saharawi and very few workers among this
unreached Muslim people group of about 1 million.
How to Pray
Pray God will call workers who are willing to work among the Saharawi
and together with Him, carry the Living Water to the desert.
Pray God will send dreams and visions among the Saharawi, showing
Himself as the giver of living water and awakening their thirst
for spiritual refreshment.
Pray that the few local followers will grow in their faith
and witness courageously despite pressure and persecution.
My paternal side is of Muslim heritage and will offer this section to further
call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity
(Hindus, Jews, aboriginals Canadian, ...) .

[47] Because thou servedst not the LORD thy God with joyfulness, and with
gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things;
[48] Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which the LORD shall send
against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all
things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have
destroyed thee.
[49] The LORD shall bring a nation against thee from far, from the end of
the earth, as swift as the eagle flieth; a nation whose tongue thou shalt
not understand;
[58] If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are
written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name,
THE LORD THY GOD;
16 (for you know that we lived in the land of Egypt and how we came
through the nations which you passed by,
17 and you have seen their abominations and their idols of wood
and stone, of silver and gold, which were among them);
18 (Heb 12:15) lest there be among you a man or woman
or family or tribe whose heart turns away today from the Lord our God
to go and serve the gods of these nations, and lest there be among you
a root bearing poisonous and bitter fruit;
19 (Nu 15:30) and it happens that, when he hears the words of this covenant,
he blesses himself in his heart, saying,
"I shall have peace, even though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart,-
thus destroying the watered ground with the dry.
20 (Ps 74:1; Dt 9:14; Ps 79:5) The Lord will not spare him;
rather the anger of the Lord and His jealousy will smolder
against that man.
[2] And Moses called unto all Israel, and said unto them, Ye have seen
all that the LORD did before your eyes in the land of Egypt unto Pharaoh,
and unto all his servants, and unto all his land;
[14] Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath;
[15] But with him that standeth here with us this day before the LORD our
God, and also with him that is not here with us this day:
[16] (For ye know how we have dwelt in the land of Egypt; and how we came
through the nations which ye passed by;
[17] And ye have seen their abominations, and their idols, wood and stone,
silver and gold, which were among them:)
[18] Lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe,
whose heart turneth away this day from the LORD our God, to go and serve the
gods of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that beareth
gall and wormwood;
[22] So that the generation to come of your children that shall rise up
after you, and the stranger that shall come from a far land, shall say, when
they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses which the LORD hath
laid upon it;
[23] And that the whole land thereof is brimstone, and salt, and burning,
that it is not sown, nor beareth, nor any grass groweth therein, like the
overthrow of Sodom, and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, which the LORD
overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath:

[23] And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
[24] Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the
inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

Separation sometimes is a natural result of growth and development;
sometimes it is a violent, cataclysmic shaking of an individual's life.
2 lifelong friends go separate ways to college or into future careers;
a church splits over doctrinal differences; a wife finds out a hidden
secret in her husband's past.

Deut 8:18
18 But you must remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you
the ability to get wealth, so that He may establish His covenant which
He swore to your fathers, as it is today.
18 But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee
power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto
thy fathers, as it is this day.
5) From a Book called God's Promises for you:
When you are lonely
PSALMS 25:15-21
15 My eyes are ever toward the Lord,
for He will lead my feet from the net.
16 Turn to me, and be gracious to me,
for I am isolated and afflicted.
17 The troubles of my heart are enlarged;
bring me out of my distresses.
18 Look on my pain and misery,
and forgive all my sins.
19 Consider my enemies, for they are many,
and they hate me with violent hatred.
20 Watch over my life, and deliver me!
Let me not suffer shame,
for I seek refuge in You.
21 Truth and integrity will preserve me
while I wait for You.
15 Mine eyes are ever toward the LORD;
For he shall pluck my feet out of the net.
16 Turn thee unto me, and have mercy upon me;
For I am desolate and afflicted.
17 The troubles of my heart are enlarged:
O bring thou me out of my distresses.
18 Look upon mine affliction and my pain;
And forgive all my sins.
19 Consider mine enemies; for they are many;
And they hate me with cruel hatred.
20 O keep my soul, and deliver me:
Let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in thee.
21 Let integrity and uprightness preserve me;
For I wait on thee.
Remember God's promises when You pray
The Lord's prayer
Matthew 6:9-13
9 "Therefore pray in this manner:
Our Father who is in heaven,
hallowed be Your name.
10 (Mt 3:2; 4:17) Your kingdom come;
Your will be done
on earth, as it is in heaven.
Amen.
6) This come from Praying for Muslims in Canada 2015 (Is there a 2021 edition?)

18 (Ps 107:35; Isa 30:25) I will open rivers in high places,
and fountains in the midst of the valleys;
