1) Numbers 16-18
NUMBERS 16
Opposition to Moses and Aaron
1 (Jude 1:11; Ex 6:21) Now Korah the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath,
the son of Levi, and Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab,
and On the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men,
2 (Nu 26:9) and they rose up before Moses and men of the children of Israel,
two hundred and fifty chiefs of the assembly, famous in the assembly,
well-known men.
3 (Ps 106:16; Ex 19:6) They assembled against Moses and against Aaron,
and said to them, "You take too much upon yourselves, seeing
all the congregation are holy, every one of them,
and the Lord is among them. So why do you exalt yourselves
above the assembly of the Lord?"
4 (Nu 14:5; 20:6) And when Moses heard it, he fell on his face,
5 (Lev 10:3; Nu 17:5) and he spoke to Korah and to all his company, saying,
"In the morning the Lord will show who is His and who is holy, and He will
bring him to come near to Him. Whom He has chosen He will bring near to Him.
6 (Lev 10:1) Do this: Take censers, Korah and all his company;
7 (Nu 16:3) put fire in them, and put incense in them before the Lord
tomorrow, and it will be that the man whom the Lord chooses, he will be holy.
You take too much upon yourselves, sons of Levi."
8 Moses said to Korah, "Listen, please, sons of Levi.
9 (Dt 10:8; Isa 7:13) Does it seem a small thing to you that the God of Israel
has separated you from the assembly of Israel to bring you near to Himself
to do the service of the tabernacle of the Lord, and to stand
before the assembly to minister to them?
10 And He has brought you near to Him, and all your brothers,
the sons of Levi, with you, and you also seek the priesthood?
11 (Ex 16:7-8; 1Co 3:5) Therefore both you and all your company are gathered
together against the Lord, and who is Aaron that you murmur against him?"
12 And Moses sent for Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab, who said,
"We will not come
13 (Ac 7:35; Ex 2:14) Is it a small thing that you have brought us up out
of a land that flows with milk and honey to kill us in the wilderness
because you make yourself a prince over us?
14 (Lev 20:24) Moreover you have not brought us into a land that flows
with milk and honey nor given us inheritance of fields and vineyards.
Will you put out the eyes of these men? We will not come up."
15 (Ge 4:4-5; 2Co 7:2) Moses was very angry and said to the Lord,
"Do not respect their offering. I have not taken one donkey from
them, nor have I hurt one of them."
16 (1Sa 12:3; 12:7) Moses said to Korah, "You and all your company
be before the Lord, you and them and Aaron, tomorrow.
17 Let each man take his censer and put incense in it,
and each of you bring his censer before the Lord,
two hundred and fifty censers. Also you and Aaron shall each bring his censer."
18 Every man took his censer and put fire in it, and laid incense on it,
and stood at the door of the tent of meeting with Moses and Aaron.
19 (Nu 14:10; 16:42) Korah gathered all the assembly against them to the door
of the tent of meeting, and the glory of the Lord appeared to all the assembly.
20 The Lord spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying:
21 (Ex 32:10; Nu 16:45) Separate yourselves from among this assembly,
that I may consume them in a moment.
22 (Nu 27:16; Ge 18:23-25) They fell on their faces and said,
"O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, will one man sin
and You will be angry with all the assembly?"
23 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
24 Speak to the assembly, saying: Get up from around
the tents of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram.
25 Moses rose up and went to Dathan and Abiram,
and the elders of Israel followed him.
26 (Isa 52:11; 2Co 6:17) He spoke to the assembly, saying,
"Depart now from the tents of these wicked men, and touch
nothing of theirs, lest you be swept away for all their sins."
27 So they got up from the tents of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram,
on every side, and Dathan and Abiram came out and stood
in the opening of their tents, and their wives, and their sons,
and their children.
28 (Ex 3:12; Jer 23:16) Moses said, "By this you will know that
the Lord has sent me to do all these works, because I have not
done them of my own mind.
29 (1Ki 22:28) If these men die the common death of all men,
or if they are visited after the visitation of all men,
then the Lord has not sent me.
30 (Ps 55:15; Nu 16:33) But if the Lord makes a new thing,
and the earth opens its mouth and swallows them with all that
belongs to them, and they go down alive into the pit,
then you will know that these men have despised the Lord."
31 (Nu 27:3; Dt 11:6) So it was, when he finished speaking
all these words, that the ground that was under them split open.
32 (Nu 26:11; 1Ch 6:22) And the earth opened its mouth
and swallowed them, and their houses, and all the men
that belonged to Korah, and all their goods.
33 (Jude 1:11) And they and all that belonged to them went down
alive into the pit, and the earth closed on them, and they perished
from among the assembly.
34 All Israel that was around them fled at their cry because they said,
"The earth will swallow us also."
35 (Lev 10:2; Nu 26:10) A fire went out from the Lord and consumed
the two hundred and fifty men that offered incense.
36 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
37 Tell Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest to take up the censers
out of the blaze, for they are holy. Then scatter the fire far and wide.
38 (Nu 26:10; Pr 20:2) As for the censers of these men who have sinned
at the cost of their own lives, make them into hammered plates
as a covering for the altar, for they presented them before the Lord
and they are holy. They shall be a sign to the children of Israel.
39 So Eleazar the priest took the bronze censers, which those who were
burned had offered, and they were hammered out as a covering on the altar,
40 (Nu 3:10) to be a memorial to the children of Israel, that no outsider,
who is not of the descendants of Aaron, shall approach to offer incense
before the Lord, that he might not become like Korah and his company,
as the Lord has said to him through Moses.
Numbers 16

[2] And they rose up before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel,
two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly, famous in the congregation,
men of renown:
[3] And they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron,
and said unto them, Ye take too much upon you, seeing all the congregation
are holy, every one of them, and the LORD is among them: wherefore then lift
ye up yourselves above the congregation of the LORD?
[4] And when Moses heard it, he fell upon his face:
[5] And he spake unto Korah and unto all his company, saying, Even to morrow
the LORD will shew who are his, and who is holy; and will cause him to come
near unto him: even him whom he hath chosen will he cause to come near unto
him.
[6] This do; Take you censers, Korah, and all his company;
[7] And put fire therein, and put incense in them before the LORD to morrow:
and it shall be that the man whom the LORD doth choose, he shall be holy: ye
take too much upon you, ye sons of Levi.
[8] And Moses said unto Korah, Hear, I pray you, ye sons of Levi:
[9] Seemeth it but a small thing unto you, that the God of Israel hath
separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to himself
to do the service of the tabernacle of the LORD, and to stand before the
congregation to minister unto them?
[10] And he hath brought thee near to him, and all thy brethren the sons of
Levi with thee: and seek ye the priesthood also?
[11] For which cause both thou and all thy company are gathered together
against the LORD: and what is Aaron, that ye murmur against him?
[12] And Moses sent to call Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab: which
said, We will not come up:
[13] Is it a small thing that thou hast brought us up out of a land that
floweth with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, except thou make
thyself altogether a prince over us?
[14] Moreover thou hast not brought us into a land that floweth with milk
and honey, or given us inheritance of fields and vineyards: wilt thou put
out the eyes of these men? we will not come up.
[15] And Moses was very wroth, and said unto the LORD, Respect not thou
their offering: I have not taken one ass from them, neither have I hurt one
of them.
[16] And Moses said unto Korah, Be thou and all thy company before the LORD,
thou, and they, and Aaron, to morrow:
[17] And take every man his censer, and put incense in them, and bring ye
before the LORD every man his censer, two hundred and fifty censers; thou
also, and Aaron, each of you his censer.
[18] And they took every man his censer, and put fire in them, and laid
incense thereon, and stood in the door of the tabernacle of the congregation
with Moses and Aaron.
[19] And Korah gathered all the congregation against them unto the door of
the tabernacle of the congregation: and the glory of the LORD appeared unto
all the congregation.
[20] And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,
[21] Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume
them in a moment.
[22] And they fell upon their faces, and said, O God, the God of the spirits
of all flesh, shall one man sin, and wilt thou be wroth with all the
congregation?
[23] And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
[24] Speak unto the congregation, saying, Get you up from about the
tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram.
[25] And Moses rose up and went unto Dathan and Abiram; and the elders of
Israel followed him.
[26] And he spake unto the congregation, saying, Depart, I pray you, from
the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest ye be
consumed in all their sins.
[27] So they gat up from the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram, on
every side: and Dathan and Abiram came out, and stood in the door of their
tents, and their wives, and their sons, and their little children.
[28] And Moses said, Hereby ye shall know that the LORD hath sent me to do
all these works; for I have not done them of mine own mind.
[29] If these men die the common death of all men, or if they be visited
after the visitation of all men; then the LORD hath not sent me.
[30] But if the LORD make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and
swallow them up, with all that appertain unto them, and they go down quick
into the pit; then ye shall understand that these men have provoked the
LORD.
[31] And it came to pass, as he had made an end of speaking all these words,
that the ground clave asunder that was under them:
[32] And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their
houses, and all the men that appertained unto Korah, and all their goods.
[33] They, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit,
and the earth closed upon them: and they perished from among the
congregation.
[34] And all Israel that were round about them fled at the cry of them: for
they said, Lest the earth swallow us up also.
[35] And there came out a fire from the LORD, and consumed the two hundred
and fifty men that offered incense.
[36] And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
[37] Speak unto Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, that he take up the
censers out of the burning, and scatter thou the fire yonder; for they are
hallowed.
[38] The censers of these sinners against their own souls, let them make
them broad plates for a covering of the altar: for they offered them before
the LORD, therefore they are hallowed: and they shall be a sign unto the
children of Israel.
[39] And Eleazar the priest took the brasen censers, wherewith they that
were burnt had offered; and they were made broad plates for a covering of
the altar:
[40] To be a memorial unto the children of Israel, that no stranger, which
is not of the seed of Aaron, come near to offer incense before the LORD;
that he be not as Korah, and as his company: as the LORD said to him by the
hand of Moses.
The People Complain
41 (Nu 14:2) But the next day all the assembly of the children of Israel
murmured against Moses and against Aaron, saying,
"You have killed the people of the Lord."
42 (Nu 16:19; Lev 9:23) When the assembly was gathered
against Moses and Aaron, they looked toward the tent of meeting.
The cloud covered it, and the glory of the Lord appeared.
43 Moses and Aaron went before the tent of meeting.
44 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
45 (Nu 16:24; 16:21-22) "Get up from among this assembly,
that I may destroy them in a moment." And they fell on their faces.
46 (Lev 10:6; Nu 8:19) Moses said to Aaron, "Take a censer and put fire
in it from off the altar, and put in incense, and go quickly to the assembly,
and make an atonement for them, because wrath has gone out from the Lord.
The plague has begun."
47 Aaron took it as Moses commanded and ran into the midst of the assembly,
where the plague had begun among the people. He put in incense
and made an atonement for the
48 (2Sa 24:25) He stood between the dead and the living,
and the plague was stopped.
49 (Nu 25:9) Now those who died in the plague were 14700,
besides those that died concerning the thing of Korah.
50 Aaron returned to Moses, to the door of the tent of meeting,
and the plague was stopped.
[41] But on the morrow all the congregation of the children of Israel
murmured against Moses and against Aaron, saying, Ye have killed the people
of the LORD.
[42] And it came to pass, when the congregation was gathered against Moses
and against Aaron, that they looked toward the tabernacle of the
congregation: and, behold, the cloud covered it, and the glory of the LORD
appeared.
[43] And Moses and Aaron came before the tabernacle of the congregation.
[44] And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
[45] Get you up from among this congregation, that I may consume them as in
a moment. And they fell upon their faces.
[46] And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a censer, and put fire therein from off
the altar, and put on incense, and go quickly unto the congregation, and
make an atonement for them: for there is wrath gone out from the LORD; the
plague is begun.
[47] And Aaron took as Moses commanded, and ran into the midst of the
congregation; and, behold, the plague was begun among the people: and he put
on incense, and made an atonement for the people.
[48] And he stood between the dead and the living; and the plague was
stayed.
[49] Now they that died in the plague were fourteen thousand and seven
hundred, beside them that died about the matter of Korah.
[50] And Aaron returned unto Moses unto the door of the tabernacle of the
congregation: and the plague was stayed.

NUMBERS 17
The Budding of Aaron's Rod
1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
2 Speak to the children of Israel, and take from them a rod,
a rod for the house of their fathers, from all their leaders
according to the house of their fathers, twelve rods.
Write each man's name on his rod.
3 You will write the name of Aaron on the rod of Levi,
because one rod will be for each father's house.
4 You will lay them in the tent of meeting before the testimony,
where I will meet with you.
5 (Nu 16:5; 16:11) It will be that the rod of the man
whom I choose will bud.
Thus I will rid myself of the complaints of the children of Israel,
that they have been making against you.
6 Moses spoke to the children of Israel, and each one of their leaders
gave him a rod, one for each leader, according to their fathers' houses,
even twelve rods, and the rod of Aaron was among their rods.
7 (Ex 38:21; Ac 7:44) Moses laid the rods before the Lord
in the tent of witness.
8 (Eze 17:24) When Moses went into the tent of witness the next day,
the rod of Aaron, for the house of Levi, had sprouted.
It brought forth buds, produced blossoms, and yielded almonds.
9 Moses brought out all the rods from before the Lord to
all the children of Israel, and they looked, and each man took his rod.
10 (Nu 16:38; Heb 9:4) The Lord said to Moses, "Return the rod of Aaron
before the testimony, to be kept for a warning to rebels,
that you may put an end to their complaints before Me,
or else they will die."
11 Moses did so. As the Lord commanded him, so he did.
12 The children of Israel spoke to Moses, saying, "Behold, we expire,
we perish, we all perish.
13 Anyone approaching the tabernacle of the Lord will die.
Are we all to perish?"
Numbers 17
[1] And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
[2] Speak unto the children of Israel, and take of every one of them a rod
according to the house of their fathers, of all their princes according to
the house of their fathers twelve rods: write thou every man's name upon his
rod.
[3] And thou shalt write Aaron's name upon the rod of Levi: for one rod
shall be for the head of the house of their fathers.
[4] And thou shalt lay them up in the tabernacle of the congregation before
the testimony, where I will meet with you.
[5] And it shall come to pass, that the man's rod, whom I shall choose,
shall blossom: and I will make to cease from me the murmurings of the
children of Israel, whereby they murmur against you.
[6] And Moses spake unto the children of Israel, and every one of their
princes gave him a rod apiece, for each prince one, according to their
fathers' houses, even twelve rods: and the rod of Aaron was among their
rods.
[7] And Moses laid up the rods before the LORD in the tabernacle of witness.
[8] And it came to pass, that on the morrow Moses went into the tabernacle
of witness; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded,
and brought forth buds, and bloomed blossoms, and yielded almonds.
[9] And Moses brought out all the rods from before the LORD unto all the
children of Israel: and they looked, and took every man his rod.
[10] And the LORD said unto Moses, Bring Aaron's rod again before the
testimony, to be kept for a token against the rebels; and thou shalt quite
take away their murmurings from me, that they die not.
[11] And Moses did so: as the LORD commanded him, so did he.
[12] And the children of Israel spake unto Moses, saying, Behold, we die, we
perish, we all perish.
[13] Whosoever cometh any thing near unto the tabernacle of the LORD shall
die: shall we be consumed with dying?
(Oh ye of little faith)
NUMBERS 18
Duties of Priests and Levites
1 (Ex 28:38) And the Lord said to Aaron: You and your sons and your father's
house with you will bear the iniquity of the sanctuary, and you and your sons
with you will bear the iniquity of your priesthood.
2 (Ge 29:34; Nu 18:4) Your brothers also of the tribe of Levi, the tribe of
your father, bring with you, and let them be joined with you, and minister
to you. But you and your sons with you will minister before the tent of
witness.
3 (Nu 4:15; 3:25) They will perform duties for you and for the whole tent;
but they will not come near the vessels of the sanctuary or the altar,
so that neither they nor you die.
4 They will be joined to you and perform the duties of the tent of meeting,
for all the service of the tent; no foreigner will come near you.
5 (Ex 27:21; Lev 24:3) You yourselves will perform the duties
of the sanctuary and the duties of the altar, so that wrath may never come
upon the children of Israel again.
6 (Nu 3:9; 3:12) I Myself have taken your brothers, the Levites, from among
the children of Israel; they are given to you as a gift from the Lord to perform
the service of the tent of meeting.
7 (Nu 3:10_ And you and your sons with you will attend to your priesthood
for everything at the altar, and within the veil, and you will serve. I have
given your priesthood to you as a gift service, and the foreigner that
comes near will be put to death.
[1] And the LORD said unto Aaron, Thou and thy sons and thy father's house
with thee shall bear the iniquity of the sanctuary: and thou and thy sons
with thee shall bear the iniquity of your priesthood.
[2] And thy brethren also of the tribe of Levi, the tribe of thy father,
bring thou with thee, that they may be joined unto thee, and minister unto
thee: but thou and thy sons with thee shall minister before the tabernacle
of witness.
[3] And they shall keep thy charge, and the charge of all the tabernacle:
only they shall not come nigh the vessels of the sanctuary and the altar,
that neither they, nor ye also, die.
[4] And they shall be joined unto thee, and keep the charge of the
tabernacle of the congregation, for all the service of the tabernacle: and a
stranger shall not come nigh unto you.
[5] And ye shall keep the charge of the sanctuary, and the charge of the
altar: that there be no wrath any more upon the children of Israel.
[6] And I, behold, I have taken your brethren the Levites from among the
children of Israel: to you they are given as a gift for the LORD, to do the
service of the tabernacle of the congregation.
[7] Therefore thou and thy sons with thee shall keep your priest's office
for every thing of the altar, and within the vail; and ye shall serve: I
have given your priest's office unto you as a service of gift: and the
stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.
Offerings for Priests and Levites
8 (Lev 6:16; Ex 29:29) The Lord spoke to Aaron: I have certainly given you
the charge of the offerings made to Me, all the hallowed gifts of
the children of Israel. To you and to your sons have I given them
as a portion, as an ordinance forever.
9 (Lev 7:7; 4:22) This will be yours of the most holy things,
reserved from the fire: All of their offerings, all of their grain offerings
and all of their sin offerings, and all of their guilt offerings,
which they render to Me, will be most holy for you and for your sons.
10 (Lev 6:29; 7:6) In a most holy place shall you eat it; every male
shall eat it. It shall be holy to you.
11 (Dt 18:3; Ex 29:27-28) This is yours: the offering of their gift,
with all the wave offerings
of the children of Israel. I have given them to you and to your
sons and to your daughters with you, as an eternal statute.
Everyone who is clean in your house will eat of it.
12 (Ex 23:19; Dt 18:4) All the best of the oil,
and all the best of the wine, and of the wheat, the first fruits of what
they will offer to the Lord, those have I given to you.
13 (Ex 22:29) The first ripe fruit of all which is in their land, which they
will bring to the Lord, will be yours. Everyone who is clean in your
house will eat of it.
14 (Lev 27:28) Everything devoted in Israel will be yours.
15 (Ex 34:20; 13:2) Everything that opens the womb of all flesh,
which they bring to the Lord, whether it is of men or animals,
will be yours. However, you will surely redeem the firstborn of man,
and the firstborn of unclean beasts you will redeem.
16 (Ex 30:13; Nu 3:47) Their redemption price, reckoned
from one month of age, is five shekels,
[About 2 ounces, or 58 grams. ] after the shekel of the sanctuary,
which is twenty gerahs.
17 But the firstborn of a herd animal, or the firstborn of a sheep,
or the firstborn of a goat, you will not redeem. They are holy.
You will splash their blood on the altar and will burn their fat
as a fire offering, as a pleasing aroma to the Lord.
18 Their flesh will be yours, as the wave breast
and as the right shoulder are yours.
19 (2Ch 13:5; Lev 2:13) All the offerings of the holy things which
the children of Israel offer to the Lord I have given to you,
and to your sons and your daughters with you, as an eternal statute.
It is a covenant of salt forever before the Lord, to you
and to your seed with you.
20 (Dt 10:9; 12:12) The Lord said to Aaron: You will not have an inheritance
in their land, nor will you have any territory among them. I am your
territory and your inheritance among the children of Israel.
[8] And the LORD spake unto Aaron, Behold, I also have given thee the charge
of mine heave offerings of all the hallowed things of the children of
Israel; unto thee have I given them by reason of the anointing, and to thy
sons, by an ordinance for ever.
[9] This shall be thine of the most holy things, reserved from the fire:
every oblation of theirs, every meat offering of theirs, and every sin
offering of theirs, and every trespass offering of theirs, which they shall
render unto me, shall be most holy for thee and for thy sons.
[10] In the most holy place shalt thou eat it; every male shall eat it: it
shall be holy unto thee.
[11] And this is thine; the heave offering of their gift, with all the wave
offerings of the children of Israel: I have given them unto thee, and to thy
sons and to thy daughters with thee, by a statute for ever: every one that
is clean in thy house shall eat of it.
[12] All the best of the oil, and all the best of the wine, and of the
wheat, the firstfruits of them which they shall offer unto the LORD, them
have I given thee.
[13] And whatsoever is first ripe in the land, which they shall bring unto
the LORD, shall be thine; every one that is clean in thine house shall eat
of it.
[14] Every thing devoted in Israel shall be thine.
[15] Every thing that openeth the matrix in all flesh, which they bring unto
the LORD, whether it be of men or beasts, shall be thine: nevertheless the
firstborn of man shalt thou surely redeem, and the firstling of unclean
beasts shalt thou redeem.
[16] And those that are to be redeemed from a month old shalt thou redeem,
according to thine estimation, for the money of five shekels, after the
shekel of the sanctuary, which is twenty gerahs.
[17] But the firstling of a cow, or the firstling of a sheep, or the
firstling of a goat, thou shalt not redeem; they are holy: thou shalt
sprinkle their blood upon the altar, and shalt burn their fat for an
offering made by fire, for a sweet savour unto the LORD.
[18] And the flesh of them shall be thine, as the wave breast and as the
right shoulder are thine.
[19] All the heave offerings of the holy things, which the children of
Israel offer unto the LORD, have I given thee, and thy sons and thy
daughters with thee, by a statute for ever: it is a covenant of salt for
ever before the LORD unto thee and to thy seed with thee.
[20] And the LORD spake unto Aaron, Thou shalt have no inheritance in their
land, neither shalt thou have any part among them: I am thy part and thine
inheritance among the children of Israel.
Tithes for Supporting the Levites
21 (Dt 14:22-29; Ne 10:37) I have given the children of Levi all the tithes
in Israel for an inheritance, for their service, which they serve,
even the service of the tent of meeting.
22 (Lev 22:9) Hereafter, the children of Israel shall not come
near the tent of meeting, lest they bear sin and die.
23 (Nu 3:7) But the Levites will do the service of the tent of meeting,
and they will bear their iniquity. It will be an eternal statute throughout
your generations, that among the children of Israel they have no inheritance.
24 (Nu 18:26 )But the tithes of the children of Israel, which they offer
as an offering to the Lord, I have given to the Levites to inherit.
Therefore I have said to them, among the children of Israel
they will have no inheritance.
[21] And, behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tenth in Israel
for an inheritance, for their service which they serve, even the service of
the tabernacle of the congregation.
[22] Neither must the children of Israel henceforth come nigh the tabernacle
of the congregation, lest they bear sin, and die.
[23] But the Levites shall do the service of the tabernacle of the
congregation, and they shall bear their iniquity: it shall be a statute for
ever throughout your generations, that among the children of Israel they
have no inheritance.
[24] But the tithes of the children of Israel, which they offer as an heave
offering unto the LORD, I have given to the Levites to inherit: therefore I
have said unto them, Among the children of Israel they shall have no

The Tithe of the Levites
25 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
26 (Ne 10:38) You will speak to the Levites, and say to them:
When you take from the children of Israel the tithes that I have given you
from them for your inheritance, then you will offer up an offering of
it to the Lord, even one-tenth of the tithe.
27 (Nu 18:30) And this offering will be counted to you, as though it was
the grain of the threshing floor, and as the fullness of the winepress.
28 Thus you also will set apart an offering to the Lord from all the tithes
which you receive from the children of Israel. Out of them you will give

30 You will say to them: When you have offered the best from it,
then it will be counted to the Levites as the increase of the threshing

the noise of tumult as the noise of an army camp. Whenever they stood still,
they let down their wings.

One wouldn't normally think of butterflies as being loud creatures: after all,
the flapping of a single Monarch butterfly's wings is practically inaudible.
But in the Mexican rainforest, where many of them begin their short lives,
their collective flapping is surprisingly loud. When millions of Monarchs
flap their wings at the same time, it sounds like a rushing waterfall.
The same description is made when four very different winged creatures appear
in Ezekiel's vision. Though fewer than the number of butterflies, he likens
the sound of their flapping wings to "the roar of rushing waters" (Ezekiel
1:24). When the creatures stood still and lowered their wings, Ezekiel heard
the voice of God calling him
to "speak [God's] words to [the Israelites]" (2:7).
Ezekiel, like the other Old Testament prophets, was charged with the task
of speaking truth to God's people. Today, God asks us all to share the
truth of His good work in our lives with those He puts around us
(1 Peter 3:15). Sometimes we'll be asked a direct question-an invitation
to share that's as "loud" as a waterfall. Other times, the invitation might
be more of a whisper, such as seeing an unspoken need. Whether the invitation
to share God's love is as loud as a million butterflies or as quiet as just
one, we must listen, as Ezekiel did, with ears tuned to hear what God wants
us to say.

Is 41:10
10 (Jos 1:9; Isa 41:13-14) Do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you,
yes, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.
10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God:
I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee;
yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
Beth had the same recurring nightmare: she was running along a cliff,
then she slipped, and fell headlong, into a bottomless ravine.
Falling, without control, without end, falling, falling, falling...
Beth's dream may be one many of us identify with. The sense
of losing control can be nightmarish, and we may fear falling
without end, without remedy. Financial failure may be the chasm
that we face, or professional disgrace. Personal relationships
may go out of control, and we look into a never-ending
ravine of pain and misunderstanding
But God says, "Don't be afraid; I am holding you up."
Like the father who helps his child learn to swim,
God holds us above the water. We may not feel his hands;
indeed, we may suspect that he lets us go just so we can
do it on our own. But he promises that he doesn't let go.
"I am with you." he declares. "I give you strength
and hold you up."
God's promise never to let go takes on new meaning
in a world where relationships are temporary and life is
uncertain. We do not need to fear, for he is with us.
We can relax and stop striving, for he is our God.
His strength becomes ours; amid all our sin and rebellion,
he undergirds us with his righteousness. We cannot fall,
for he holds us firm.

Saskatoon has seen quick growth in its Muslim population over the past
5 years, which maybe as high as 5000 today. Islamic leaders have
focused specifically on this city , having twice already sent cohorts
of about 70 families to start mosques. There are now 7 Islamic centres
of worship and an ISlamic madrassah (school) located right next to a
Christian school.
Of particular concern recently is the number of young adults who grew up
in evangelical churches and converted to Islam. Most of these are young
women whowere wooed by Muslim man and became emotionally bonded.
Both prior to and after marrying, these women are known to convert to ISlam.
Agree in prayer with us for:
- entire congregations and individual believers to catch God's heart
and passion for reaching Muslims in Saskatoon and the other growing
Muslim population centres of Saskatchewan.
- for the eyes and understanding of Canadian youth to be opened to the
spiritual reality of Islam, and not deceived nor manipulated into
converting to a religion which cannot offer assurance of salvation.
- for the few workers among Muslims now engaged there, and for many more
to be raised up into effective witness.
- for prayer and training events that are starting in Saskatoon
to spread and grow to other cities.

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.
For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.
You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"
Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you
know, and Muslims around the world:
- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.
Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,
"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
18 Even on My menservants and maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.
19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below:
blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,
and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes.
21 And whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."[a]

- When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims
throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days!
My paternal side is of Muslim heritage and will offer this section to further
call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity
(Hindus, Jews, aboriginals Canadian, ...) .

as a covering for the altar, for they presented them before the Lord

burned had offered, and they were hammered out as a covering on the altar,
40 (Nu 3:10) to be a memorial to the children of Israel, that no outsider,
who is not of the descendants of Aaron, shall approach to offer incense
before the Lord, that he might not become like Korah and his company,
as the Lord has said to him through Moses.

and honey, or given us inheritance of fields and vineyards: wilt thou put
out the eyes of these men? we will not come up.
[15] And Moses was very wroth, and said unto the LORD, Respect not thou
their offering: I have not taken one ass from them, neither have I hurt one
of them.
[16] And Moses said unto Korah, Be thou and all thy company before the LORD,
thou, and they, and Aaron, to morrow:
[17] And take every man his censer, and put incense in them, and bring ye
before the LORD every man his censer, two hundred and fifty censers; thou
also, and Aaron, each of you his censer.
[18] And they took every man his censer, and put fire in them, and laid
incense thereon, and stood in the door of the tabernacle of the congregation
with Moses and Aaron.
[19] And Korah gathered all the congregation against them unto the door of
the tabernacle of the congregation: and the glory of the LORD appeared unto
all the congregation.
[20] And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,
[21] Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume
them in a moment.
[22] And they fell upon their faces, and said, O God, the God of the spirits
of all flesh, shall one man sin, and wilt thou be wroth with all the
congregation?
[23] And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
[24] Speak unto the congregation, saying, Get you up from about the
tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram.
[25] And Moses rose up and went unto Dathan and Abiram; and the elders of
Israel followed him.
[26] And he spake unto the congregation, saying, Depart, I pray you, from
the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest ye be
consumed in all their sins.
[27] So they gat up from the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram, on
every side: and Dathan and Abiram came out, and stood in the door of their
tents, and their wives, and their sons, and their little children.
[28] And Moses said, Hereby ye shall know that the LORD hath sent me to do
all these works; for I have not done them of mine own mind.
[29] If these men die the common death of all men, or if they be visited
after the visitation of all men; then the LORD hath not sent me.
[30] But if the LORD make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and
swallow them up, with all that appertain unto them, and they go down quick
into the pit; then ye shall understand that these men have provoked the
LORD.
[31] And it came to pass, as he had made an end of speaking all these words,
that the ground clave asunder that was under them:
[32] And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their
houses, and all the men that appertained unto Korah, and all their goods.
[33] They, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit,
and the earth closed upon them: and they perished from among the
congregation.
[34] And all Israel that were round about them fled at the cry of them: for
they said, Lest the earth swallow us up also.
[35] And there came out a fire from the LORD, and consumed the two hundred
and fifty men that offered incense.
[36] And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
[37] Speak unto Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, that he take up the
censers out of the burning, and scatter thou the fire yonder; for they are
hallowed.
[38] The censers of these sinners against their own souls, let them make
them broad plates for a covering of the altar: for they offered them before
the LORD, therefore they are hallowed: and they shall be a sign unto the
children of Israel.
[39] And Eleazar the priest took the brasen censers, wherewith they that
were burnt had offered; and they were made broad plates for a covering of
the altar:
[40] To be a memorial unto the children of Israel, that no stranger, which
is not of the seed of Aaron, come near to offer incense before the LORD;
that he be not as Korah, and as his company: as the LORD said to him by the
hand of Moses.
The People Complain
41 (Nu 14:2) But the next day all the assembly of the children of Israel
murmured against Moses and against Aaron, saying,
"You have killed the people of the Lord."
42 (Nu 16:19; Lev 9:23) When the assembly was gathered
against Moses and Aaron, they looked toward the tent of meeting.
The cloud covered it, and the glory of the Lord appeared.
43 Moses and Aaron went before the tent of meeting.
44 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
45 (Nu 16:24; 16:21-22) "Get up from among this assembly,
that I may destroy them in a moment." And they fell on their faces.
46 (Lev 10:6; Nu 8:19) Moses said to Aaron, "Take a censer and put fire
in it from off the altar, and put in incense, and go quickly to the assembly,
and make an atonement for them, because wrath has gone out from the Lord.
The plague has begun."
47 Aaron took it as Moses commanded and ran into the midst of the assembly,
where the plague had begun among the people. He put in incense
and made an atonement for the
48 (2Sa 24:25) He stood between the dead and the living,
and the plague was stopped.
49 (Nu 25:9) Now those who died in the plague were 14700,
besides those that died concerning the thing of Korah.
50 Aaron returned to Moses, to the door of the tent of meeting,

The Budding of Aaron's Rod
1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
2 Speak to the children of Israel, and take from them a rod,
a rod for the house of their fathers, from all their leaders
according to the house of their fathers, twelve rods.
Write each man's name on his rod.
3 You will write the name of Aaron on the rod of Levi,
because one rod will be for each father's house.
4 You will lay them in the tent of meeting before the testimony,
where I will meet with you.
5 (Nu 16:5; 16:11) It will be that the rod of the man
whom I choose will bud.
Thus I will rid myself of the complaints of the children of Israel,
that they have been making against you.
6 Moses spoke to the children of Israel, and each one of their leaders
gave him a rod, one for each leader, according to their fathers' houses,
even twelve rods, and the rod of Aaron was among their rods.
7 (Ex 38:21; Ac 7:44) Moses laid the rods before the Lord
in the tent of witness.
8 (Eze 17:24) When Moses went into the tent of witness the next day,
the rod of Aaron, for the house of Levi, had sprouted.
It brought forth buds, produced blossoms, and yielded almonds.
9 Moses brought out all the rods from before the Lord to
all the children of Israel, and they looked, and each man took his rod.
10 (Nu 16:38; Heb 9:4) The Lord said to Moses, "Return the rod of Aaron
before the testimony, to be kept for a warning to rebels,
that you may put an end to their complaints before Me,
or else they will die."
11 Moses did so. As the Lord commanded him, so he did.
12 The children of Israel spoke to Moses, saying, "Behold, we expire,
we perish, we all perish.
13 Anyone approaching the tabernacle of the Lord will die.
Are we all to perish?"
Numbers 17
[1] And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
[2] Speak unto the children of Israel, and take of every one of them a rod
according to the house of their fathers, of all their princes according to
the house of their fathers twelve rods: write thou every man's name upon his
rod.
[3] And thou shalt write Aaron's name upon the rod of Levi: for one rod
shall be for the head of the house of their fathers.
[4] And thou shalt lay them up in the tabernacle of the congregation before
the testimony, where I will meet with you.

shall blossom: and I will make to cease from me the murmurings of the
children of Israel, whereby they murmur against you.

testimony, to be kept for a token against the rebels; and thou shalt quite
take away their murmurings from me, that they die not.

[12] And the children of Israel spake unto Moses, saying, Behold, we die, we
perish, we all perish.
[13] Whosoever cometh any thing near unto the tabernacle of the LORD shall
die: shall we be consumed with dying?

NUMBERS 18
Duties of Priests and Levites
1 (Ex 28:38) And the Lord said to Aaron: You and your sons and your father's
house with you will bear the iniquity of the sanctuary, and you and your sons
with you will bear the iniquity of your priesthood.
2 (Ge 29:34; Nu 18:4) Your brothers also of the tribe of Levi, the tribe of
your father, bring with you, and let them be joined with you, and minister
to you. But you and your sons with you will minister before the tent of
witness.
3 (Nu 4:15; 3:25) They will perform duties for you and for the whole tent;
but they will not come near the vessels of the sanctuary or the altar,
so that neither they nor you die.
4 They will be joined to you and perform the duties of the tent of meeting,
for all the service of the tent; no foreigner will come near you.
5 (Ex 27:21; Lev 24:3) You yourselves will perform the duties
of the sanctuary and the duties of the altar, so that wrath may never come
upon the children of Israel again.
6 (Nu 3:9; 3:12) I Myself have taken your brothers, the Levites, from among
the children of Israel; they are given to you as a gift from the Lord to perform
the service of the tent of meeting.
7 (Nu 3:10_ And you and your sons with you will attend to your priesthood
for everything at the altar, and within the veil, and you will serve. I have
given your priesthood to you as a gift service, and the foreigner that
comes near will be put to death.
[1] And the LORD said unto Aaron, Thou and thy sons and thy father's house
with thee shall bear the iniquity of the sanctuary: and thou and thy sons
with thee shall bear the iniquity of your priesthood.
[2] And thy brethren also of the tribe of Levi, the tribe of thy father,
bring thou with thee, that they may be joined unto thee, and minister unto
thee: but thou and thy sons with thee shall minister before the tabernacle
of witness.
[3] And they shall keep thy charge, and the charge of all the tabernacle:
only they shall not come nigh the vessels of the sanctuary and the altar,

[4] And they shall be joined unto thee, and keep the charge of the
tabernacle of the congregation, for all the service of the tabernacle: and a
stranger shall not come nigh unto you.
[5] And ye shall keep the charge of the sanctuary, and the charge of the
altar: that there be no wrath any more upon the children of Israel.
[6] And I, behold, I have taken your brethren the Levites from among the
children of Israel: to you they are given as a gift for the LORD, to do the
service of the tabernacle of the congregation.
[7] Therefore thou and thy sons with thee shall keep your priest's office
for every thing of the altar, and within the vail; and ye shall serve: I
have given your priest's office unto you as a service of gift: and the
stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.
Offerings for Priests and Levites
8 (Lev 6:16; Ex 29:29) The Lord spoke to Aaron: I have certainly given you
the charge of the offerings made to Me, all the hallowed gifts of
the children of Israel. To you and to your sons have I given them
as a portion, as an ordinance forever.
9 (Lev 7:7; 4:22) This will be yours of the most holy things,
reserved from the fire: All of their offerings, all of their grain offerings
and all of their sin offerings, and all of their guilt offerings,
which they render to Me, will be most holy for you and for your sons.
10 (Lev 6:29; 7:6) In a most holy place shall you eat it; every male
shall eat it. It shall be holy to you.
11 (Dt 18:3; Ex 29:27-28) This is yours: the offering of their gift,
with all the wave offerings
of the children of Israel. I have given them to you and to your
sons and to your daughters with you, as an eternal statute.
Everyone who is clean in your house will eat of it.
12 (Ex 23:19; Dt 18:4) All the best of the oil,
and all the best of the wine, and of the wheat, the first fruits of what
they will offer to the Lord, those have I given to you.
13 (Ex 22:29) The first ripe fruit of all which is in their land, which they
will bring to the Lord, will be yours. Everyone who is clean in your
house will eat of it.
14 (Lev 27:28) Everything devoted in Israel will be yours.
15 (Ex 34:20; 13:2) Everything that opens the womb of all flesh,
which they bring to the Lord, whether it is of men or animals,
will be yours. However, you will surely redeem the firstborn of man,
and the firstborn of unclean beasts you will redeem.
16 (Ex 30:13; Nu 3:47) Their redemption price, reckoned
from one month of age, is five shekels,
[About 2 ounces, or 58 grams. ] after the shekel of the sanctuary,
which is twenty gerahs.
17 But the firstborn of a herd animal, or the firstborn of a sheep,
or the firstborn of a goat, you will not redeem. They are holy.
You will splash their blood on the altar and will burn their fat
as a fire offering, as a pleasing aroma to the Lord.
18 Their flesh will be yours, as the wave breast
and as the right shoulder are yours.
19 (2Ch 13:5; Lev 2:13) All the offerings of the holy things which
the children of Israel offer to the Lord I have given to you,
and to your sons and your daughters with you, as an eternal statute.
It is a covenant of salt forever before the Lord, to you
and to your seed with you.
20 (Dt 10:9; 12:12) The Lord said to Aaron: You will not have an inheritance
in their land, nor will you have any territory among them. I am your
territory and your inheritance among the children of Israel.
[8] And the LORD spake unto Aaron, Behold, I also have given thee the charge
of mine heave offerings of all the hallowed things of the children of
Israel; unto thee have I given them by reason of the anointing, and to thy
sons, by an ordinance for ever.
[9] This shall be thine of the most holy things, reserved from the fire:
every oblation of theirs, every meat offering of theirs, and every sin
offering of theirs, and every trespass offering of theirs, which they shall
render unto me, shall be most holy for thee and for thy sons.
[10] In the most holy place shalt thou eat it; every male shall eat it: it
shall be holy unto thee.
[11] And this is thine; the heave offering of their gift, with all the wave
offerings of the children of Israel: I have given them unto thee, and to thy
sons and to thy daughters with thee, by a statute for ever: every one that
is clean in thy house shall eat of it.

wheat, the firstfruits of them which they shall offer unto the LORD, them

sprinkle their blood upon the altar, and shalt burn their fat for an
offering made by fire, for a sweet savour unto the LORD.

right shoulder are thine.
[19] All the heave offerings of the holy things, which the children of
Israel offer unto the LORD, have I given thee, and thy sons and thy
daughters with thee, by a statute for ever: it is a covenant of salt for
ever before the LORD unto thee and to thy seed with thee.
[20] And the LORD spake unto Aaron, Thou shalt have no inheritance in their
land, neither shalt thou have any part among them: I am thy part and thine
inheritance among the children of Israel.
Tithes for Supporting the Levites
21 (Dt 14:22-29; Ne 10:37) I have given the children of Levi all the tithes
in Israel for an inheritance, for their service, which they serve,
even the service of the tent of meeting.
22 (Lev 22:9) Hereafter, the children of Israel shall not come
near the tent of meeting, lest they bear sin and die.
23 (Nu 3:7) But the Levites will do the service of the tent of meeting,
and they will bear their iniquity. It will be an eternal statute throughout
your generations, that among the children of Israel they have no inheritance.
24 (Nu 18:26 )But the tithes of the children of Israel, which they offer
as an offering to the Lord, I have given to the Levites to inherit.
Therefore I have said to them, among the children of Israel
they will have no inheritance.
[21] And, behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tenth in Israel
for an inheritance, for their service which they serve, even the service of
the tabernacle of the congregation.
[22] Neither must the children of Israel henceforth come nigh the tabernacle
of the congregation, lest they bear sin, and die.
[23] But the Levites shall do the service of the tabernacle of the
congregation, and they shall bear their iniquity: it shall be a statute for
ever throughout your generations, that among the children of Israel they
have no inheritance.
[24] But the tithes of the children of Israel, which they offer as an heave
offering unto the LORD, I have given to the Levites to inherit: therefore I
have said unto them, Among the children of Israel they shall have no
inheritance.
The Tithe of the Levites
25 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
26 (Ne 10:38) You will speak to the Levites, and say to them:
When you take from the children of Israel the tithes that I have given you
from them for your inheritance, then you will offer up an offering of
it to the Lord, even one-tenth of the tithe.
27 (Nu 18:30) And this offering will be counted to you, as though it was
the grain of the threshing floor, and as the fullness of the winepress.
28 Thus you also will set apart an offering to the Lord from all the tithes
which you receive from the children of Israel. Out of them you will give
the offering of the Lord to Aaron the priest.
29 Out of all your gifts you shall present every offering due to the Lord,
from all the best of them, the consecrated part of them.
30 You will say to them: When you have offered the best from it,
then it will be counted to the Levites as the increase of the threshing
floor, and as the increase of the winepress.
31 (Mt 10:10; Lk 10:7) You will eat it in every place,
you and your households, because it is your reward
for your service in the tent of meeting.
32 (Lev 19:8; 22:2) You will bear no sin because of it,
when you have offered the best of it. The holy things of the children
of Israel you will not pollute, and you will not die.
[25] And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
[26] Thus speak unto the Levites, and say unto them, When ye take of the
children of Israel the tithes which I have given you from them for your
inheritance, then ye shall offer up an heave offering of it for the LORD,
even a tenth part of the tithe.
[27] And this your heave offering shall be reckoned unto you, as though it
were the corn of the threshingfloor, and as the fulness of the winepress.
[28] Thus ye also shall offer an heave offering unto the LORD of all your

[29] Out of all your gifts ye shall offer every heave offering of the LORD,

[30] Therefore thou shalt say unto them, When ye have heaved the best
thereof from it, then it shall be counted unto the Levites as the increase

Ezekiel 1:22-28
22 (Eze 10:1; 1:26) The likeness of the expanse over the heads of the living
creatures was as the awesome gleam of crystal, stretched out over their heads
above.
23 Under the expanse their wings were stretched out straight, the one toward
the other. Each one also had two wings which covered its body on the one side
and the other.
24 (Eze 43:2; Da 10:6) When they went, I heard the noise of their wings,
like the noise of abundant waters, as the voice of the Almighty,
the noise of tumult as the noise of an army camp. Whenever they stood still,
they let down their wings.
25 There was a voice from the expanse that was over their heads
whenever they stood still and let down their wings.
26 (Eze 10:1; Ex 24:10; Rev 1:13) Above the expanse that was over their heads
was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone.
And on the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man
on it high up.
27 (Eze 1:4; 8:2) Then I saw as glowing metal, as the appearance of fire all
around within it, from the appearance of His loins and upward;
and from the appearance of His loins and downward I saw as it were
the appearance of fire, and there was a brightness around Him.
28 (Eze 3:23; Rev 10:1; Eze 8:4) As the appearance of the rainbow that is in
the cloud on a day of rain,
so was the appearance of the brightness all around.
This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord.
And when I saw it, I fell on my face and heard a voice of one speaking.
[22] And the likeness of the firmament upon the heads of the living creature
was as the colour of the terrible crystal, stretched forth over their heads
above.
[23] And under the firmament were their wings straight, the one toward the
other: every one had two, which covered on this side, and every one had
two, which covered on that side, their bodies.
[24] And when they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of
great waters, as the voice of the Almighty, the voice of speech, as the
noise of an host: when they stood, they let down their wings.
[25] And there was a voice from the firmament that was over their heads,
when they stood, and had let down their wings.
[26] And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a
throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the
throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it.
[27] And I saw as the colour of amber, as the appearance of fire round about
within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the
appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of
fire, and it had brightness round about.
[28] As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain,
so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance
of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell upon my
face, and I heard a voice of one that spake.
One wouldn't normally think of butterflies as being loud creatures: after all,
the flapping of a single Monarch butterfly's wings is practically inaudible.
But in the Mexican rainforest, where many of them begin their short lives,
their collective flapping is surprisingly loud. When millions of Monarchs
flap their wings at the same time, it sounds like a rushing waterfall.
The same description is made when four very different winged creatures appear
in Ezekiel's vision. Though fewer than the number of butterflies, he likens
the sound of their flapping wings to "the roar of rushing waters" (Ezekiel
1:24). When the creatures stood still and lowered their wings, Ezekiel heard
the voice of God calling him
to "speak [God's] words to [the Israelites]" (2:7).
Ezekiel, like the other Old Testament prophets, was charged with the task
of speaking truth to God's people. Today, God asks us all to share the
truth of His good work in our lives with those He puts around us
(1 Peter 3:15). Sometimes we'll be asked a direct question-an invitation
to share that's as "loud" as a waterfall. Other times, the invitation might
be more of a whisper, such as seeing an unspoken need. Whether the invitation
to share God's love is as loud as a million butterflies or as quiet as just
one, we must listen, as Ezekiel did, with ears tuned to hear what God wants
us to say.

Is 41:10
10 (Jos 1:9; Isa 41:13-14) Do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you,
yes, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.
10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God:
I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee;
yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
Beth had the same recurring nightmare: she was running along a cliff,
then she slipped, and fell headlong, into a bottomless ravine.
Falling, without control, without end, falling, falling, falling...
Beth's dream may be one many of us identify with. The sense
of losing control can be nightmarish, and we may fear falling
without end, without remedy. Financial failure may be the chasm
that we face, or professional disgrace. Personal relationships
may go out of control, and we look into a never-ending
ravine of pain and misunderstanding
But God says, "Don't be afraid; I am holding you up."
Like the father who helps his child learn to swim,
God holds us above the water. We may not feel his hands;
indeed, we may suspect that he lets us go just so we can
do it on our own. But he promises that he doesn't let go.
"I am with you." he declares. "I give you strength

God's promise never to let go takes on new meaning
in a world where relationships are temporary and life is
uncertain. We do not need to fear, for he is with us.
We can relax and stop striving, for he is our God.
His strength becomes ours; amid all our sin and rebellion,
he undergirds us with his righteousness. We cannot fall,
for he holds us firm.

Saskatoon has seen quick growth in its Muslim population over the past
5 years, which maybe as high as 5000 today. Islamic leaders have
focused specifically on this city , having twice already sent cohorts
of about 70 families to start mosques. There are now 7 Islamic centres
of worship and an ISlamic madrassah (school) located right next to a
Christian school.
Of particular concern recently is the number of young adults who grew up
in evangelical churches and converted to Islam. Most of these are young
women whowere wooed by Muslim man and became emotionally bonded.
Both prior to and after marrying, these women are known to convert to ISlam.
Agree in prayer with us for:
- entire congregations and individual believers to catch God's heart
and passion for reaching Muslims in Saskatoon and the other growing
Muslim population centres of Saskatchewan.
- for the eyes and understanding of Canadian youth to be opened to the
spiritual reality of Islam, and not deceived nor manipulated into
converting to a religion which cannot offer assurance of salvation.
- for the few workers among Muslims now engaged there, and for many more
to be raised up into effective witness.
- for prayer and training events that are starting in Saskatoon
to spread and grow to other cities.

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.
For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.
You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"
Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you
know, and Muslims around the world:
- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.
Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,
"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
18 Even on My menservants and maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.
19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below:
blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,
and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes.

discipleship movements among Muslim people.
- Ask the Holy Spirit to continue to inspire you to have god's heart for
Muslims, to see them as He does, and to be the light that then to Jesus.

Ideas for prayer
- Pray for opportunities to show the love of Christ to Muslims around you
- Pray for, and offer generous hospitality to, those you know who are serving
Christ among Muslim people -
Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."
- When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims
throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days!
My paternal side is of Muslim heritage and will offer this section to further
call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity
(Hindus, Jews, aboriginals Canadian, ...) .
