Doctor Who NS3 E6 - The Lazarus Experiment

Why?
Beginning: Suppose this is the farewell for Martha Jones
Until the Doctor gets involved with the 'change
in humanity'.
Body: This is twisted. Richard Lazarus has to please both the
potential invetors and the mysterious Mr. Saxon.
2 plots: Saxon gets Mrs Jones on his side saying the
Doctor is dangerous.
Saxon using supposed Time Lord Technology
suckered Lazarus into doing this.
Sounds like a masterly plot.
Easy to get into but close attention has to be paid with
to Man in Black seducing Mrs Jones.
Still Lazarus is a victim of his greed and blinded by hubris.
Mrs. Lazarus is like a Lady MacBeth and is doomed as such.
Still the Doctor's solution does work and to Saxon's credit
he covers the greater danger.
Conclusion:
Martha is off with the Doctor and Mrs Jones is
worried about Martha based on Norman Saxon's 'information'.

Doctor Who NS3 E5 - Evolution of the Daleks
8/10
Both Daleks in Manhattan and Evolution of the Daleks 8/10.
This brings back a lot of memory.
The Dalek Human factor, seen in Dalek invasion
of Earth, Evil of the Daleks and even Genesis
work well here.
Dalek Sec is one with the human he merged with.
With the Dalek survival on the line , the Doctor
decides to be a distraction and frees the captives.
They all escape. 2 Daleks from the Cult question
Sec's authority. Similar to anyone
questioning Davros in Genesis. (I love flashbacks).
Hooverville and the battle begins. First the pig slaves
then the Daleks. Solomon offers peace only to get
killed and then the Doctor is next.
Sec orders his fellow cult members not to destroy the Doctor.
Note already the Daleks are questioning Sec and this
order from Sec must be causing doubt.
This reminds me of Genesis of the Daleks.
So the Doctor is carried to Sec and MArtha has the psychic
paper. A trio makes for the Empire State Building
and Sec describes the ultimate plan to the Doctor.
So the Daleks want to infuse humans with merged cells,
or will that happen? The 3 Daleks arrest Sec
and the Doctor.
The Doctor and Laslo escapes. The Battle is on.
The Doctor did delay the development of the Daleks in Genesis.
He does so this time with the lightning strike.
The final Battle is to confront Dalek elements in Manhattan.
Again the Doctor dares the Daleks to kill him, only
to see Sec, 2 members of the cult getting killed as well as the
Dalekified humans.
The Doctor confront Dalek Khan and Khan does the
Emergency Temporal Shift.
Laslo is rescued by the Doctor
and Hoverville is back at peace.
Both Daleks in Manhattan and Evolution of the Daleks 8/10.
This brings back a lot of memory.
The Dalek Human factor, seen in Dalek invasion
of Earth, Evil of the Daleks and even Genesis
work well here.

This marries traditional Doctor Who values and
new special effects and does leave you wanting more.
Setting is New York November 1930
(When did the Nazis get seats in the Bundestag again?)
Still Depression USA.
The start, back stage at a theatre. The star and a stagehand
are making out.
The stagehand notices a weird movement. Locked
in a room he confronts a weird now hybrid menace.
Stage is set.
The Doctor and Martha turns up in 20th Century New York.
Vague historical references to New Amsterdam (comedy device)
until Martha picks up the Paper dated 1 Nov 1930 and
Notes the Headline about Hooverville.
The Doctor and Martha decides to investigate and meets Solomon
and Frank; Solomon is the leader of Hooverville, a slum city
in Manhattan's Central PArk, and asks about the Empire State
Building (ESB) being built yet many starve in the early Days of the Depression.
Meanwhile as the ESB is being build, there is a quarrel
with the boss and a lead foreman. The 'owners' are summoned
and the foreman is about to change and in the meantime
The Boss reassures the Dalek about work being completed in a timely manner.
The Doctor, MArtha, Solomon and Frank volunteer to clean
the sewers. In the sewer the group finds no blockage
and just an organic creature. Suddenly weird sounds can be heard
and the group run into pig-human pigslave hybrids!
The Daleks meantime invite the boss to meet Sec the main Dalek.
Sec and the Human merges.
The Doctor and company find a ladder out with ouly
Frank captured. Solomon, The Doctor and MArtha meets
up with Lululah, the main star looking for her friend Lazlo.
Solomon goes back to Hooverville for a call to arms.
The Doctor examines the specimen and discover its Skaran origins.
Martha comes on stage in the back and notices a pigman
not exactly completed, points it out to the troup and gives chase.
The Doctor tried to find Martha and a scream is heard as
Martha is captured .
The Doctor and Lululah gives chase.
The Doctor and Lululah finds a Dalek in the picture,
then confronts Lazlo. Despite the failure in
completion, Lazlo feels he can no longer love Lululah.
Finally the Doctor and Lazlo decides to go to the
lab and Lululah is lost.
The Doctor gets Martha to demand what is going on.
The finale and cliffhanger:
Emerge the new Dalek-human hybrid!
I cannot wait to see Evolution of the Daleks.

Summary Macra Terror millenia after the fact.
Start A family is trapped in the motorway and
simply disappear with only the comfort of Sally Calypso
to listen to. (Doesn't Mum and Dad look like
American Gothic?)
Enter the Doctor and Martha. The Doctor was describing
Gallifrey to her except doesn't this sound like Susan
describing Gallifrey to Ian and Barbara? Really!
Still The Doctor materialises just a few years after New Earth
with and Bo want to meet him (why?).
The Doctor and Martha finds themselves in pharmacy town.
MArtha is correct about mood / drugs. The daughter of the
couple purchases forgetfulness about her parents' death
and the Doctor could not get his protest in time.
Suddenly out of nowhere Martha is kidnapped
by a man and woman. The Doctor tries to give chase
but cannot catch up.
NExt the Doctor find himself onto a polluted motorway.
Luckily enough he meets a cat man and woman
(Ag you criticism is correct about catman,
woman and children - Alternative lifestyles).
So why would anyone run a highway system like this -
3 per vehicle on the fast lane with many junctions locked out
and travlleing miles per years?
The Doctor joins on as a hitchhiker and then begins his
assessment of the situation. The good Catman
tries to help at first with the lesbian couple letting the
Doctor know about the Pharmacy Town stolen vehicle
going into the fast lane.
A broadvast of sorry and the Old Rugged Cross Hymn coming
on Aitr? Excuse me RTD, but the Old Rugged Cross of
Christ's Ultimate Sacrifice and Love in this context
just does not cut it!
MArtha may have to get use to living with her kidnappers
for some years and the Doctor does not have time for this.
So the Doctor desides to descend as quick as possible.
The cat comes after the Doctor.
What an interesting meet up with car conducters.
At the end, he find an ancient enemy, the Macra!
In fact the Macra did take out one car with
2 children and a cat lady- Mean old crabs.
Martha's car is the only one ready to meet the challenge
after Martha's sermon on faith.
Finally the Cat nun captures the Doctor and brings him
to the Dying Bo.
BO and the nun example the situation as a whole
and why the Senate declared New Earth under quarantine.
With the Marca the real culprits behind this act,
the Doctor decide as quickly as possible to open
up the roads. (Hopefully the macra are done for good).
This unclutters the gridlock and let the traffic flow freely.
In the End Bo reveals his secret of not being the
only Time Lorda and Martha finally decides to
confront the Doctor as to who he really is.
On a tearjerker backdrop of Abide with Me,
The Doctor talks to MArtha about the Time Wars.
Still this is one of the low point of RTD's career
insulting and attacking established norms.
RTD repent of your sins or face the consequences!
