- 	Always use manufacturer's recommended  cleaners and dressings
- 	Use interior and exterior door mats.
- 	Protect your floor from direct sun light to minimize shading variation.
- 	Keep animals nails trimmed to help minimize scratches
- 	Avoid wearing shoes, dirt and gravel is going to be tracked in and damage your hardwood.  High heeled or stiletto shoes are also known to dent floors
- 	Do not drag objects across your floors, felt pad or any number of hardwood friendly products are available for protecting your floors
- 	Appliances can also damage your floors, glide guards is one product I recommend to allow you to roll your appliances in and out.
- 	Keep the relative humidity in your home between 35% and 55% 
- 	Never use the following products on your floors: ammonia base products, vinegar, wax based products, oil soaps, detergents, bleach, polishes, bleach or any similar products.
-  Never allow water to pool and stay in place, always wipe up immediately.
- 	Do not use a mop and water, excess liquid gets trapped and will cause damage.
-  Sweep or use a dust mop to clean your floor once a week or as needed. A swivel mop with a terry cloth cover is recommended.
