The True Shepherd

11 (Lk 19:10) For thus says the Lord God: I, even I, will search

for My sheep and seek them out.

12 (Eze 30:3; Jer 13:16) As a shepherd seeks out his flock in the day

that he is among his sheep that are scattered, so I will seek out My sheep

and will deliver them out of all the places where they have been scattered

in a cloudy and dark day.

13 (Eze 11:17) I will bring them out from the peoples, and gather them

from the countries, and bring them to their own land, and feed them upon

the mountains of Israel by the rivers and in all the inhabited

places of the country.

14 (Jn 10:9; Jer 31:12-14) I will feed them in a good pasture,

and upon the high mountains of Israel their grazing ground shall be.

There they shall lie on good grazing ground, and in a rich pasture

they shall feed upon the mountains of Israel.

15 I will feed My flock, and I will cause them to lie down, says the Lord God.

16 (Isa 10:16; 49:26) I will seek that which was lost and bring back

that which was driven away and bind up that which was broken

and will strengthen that which was sick. But I will destroy the fat

and the strong. I will feed them with judgment.

[11] For thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I, even I, will both search my

sheep, and seek them out.

[12] As a shepherd seeketh out his flock in the day that he is among his

sheep that are scattered; so will I seek out my sheep, and will deliver them

out of all places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day.

[13] And I will bring them out from the people, and gather them from the

countries, and will bring them to their own land, and feed them upon the

mountains of Israel by the rivers, and in all the inhabited places of the

country.

[14] I will feed them in a good pasture, and upon the high mountains of

Israel shall their fold be: there shall they lie in a good fold, and in a

fat pasture shall they feed upon the mountains of Israel.

[15] I will feed my flock, and I will cause them to lie down, saith the Lord

GOD.

[16] I will seek that which was lost, and bring again that which was driven

away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which

was sick: but I will destroy the fat and the strong; I will feed them with

judgment.

When Pastor Warren heard that a man in his church had deserted his wife

and family, he asked God to help him meet the man as if by accident so they

could chat. And He did! When Warren walked into a restaurant, he spotted

the gentleman in a nearby booth. "Got some room for another hungry man?"

he asked, and soon they were sharing deeply and praying together.

As a pastor, Warren was acting as a shepherd for those in his church

community, even as God through the prophet Ezekiel said He would tend His

flock. God promised to look after His scattered sheep, rescuing them

and gathering them together (Ezekiel 34:12-13). He would "tend them

in a good pasture" and "search for the lost and bring back the strays";

He would "bind up the injured and strengthen the weak" (vv. 14-16).

God's love for His people reverberates through each of these images.

Though Ezekiel's words anticipate God’s future actions, they reflect

the eternal heart of the God and Shepherd who would one day reveal

Himself in Jesus.

No matter our situation, God reaches out to each of us, seeking to

rescue us and sheltering us in a rich pasture. He longs for us to

follow the Good Shepherd, He who lays down His life for His sheep

(see John 10:14-15).

Reflect & Pray

How does Jesus, the Good Shepherd, care for you?

How could you offer Him any wounds that need tending

or weakness you'd like strengthened?

Dear God, You love me even when I go astray and wander. Help me to

stay always in Your sheepfold, that I might receive Your love and care.

Words in Season Scripture Memory Tools

Week 1 Knowing God's Word Day 3 - Let the Word Dwell in You

Col 3:16

16 (Eph 5:19; Col 1:28; Ro 10:17) Let the word of Christ dwell

in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing

one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,

singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

16 Let the word of Christ dwell

in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing

one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,

singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

Every day, whether we are aware of it or not, our minds are

bombarded by 20th Century values: "Dress for success!" "Get ahead!"

"You deserve a break today ...." Television, radio, and the incessant

voices that surround us distract our attention and keep us from

focusing on what is really important in our lives.

Paul's instruction to the Colossian Church brings us back to God's

value system: "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly."

When we give attention to the Word of God, we put ourselves in a position

to hear a higher truth the clamour of immediate demands

and the expectations of the world around us. We can experience peace

in the midst of struggle and rest in a restless environment.

God's Word is a powerful force for good in our lives - not merely

an attractive philosophy, but true power to overcome the pressures

of daily life.

Dwelling on the Word of God, and letting it indwell us, takes many forms.

Scripture memory, music, meditation, talking with others about the

goodness of God all help us keep our attention focused on Christ rather

than on the values of the world around us.

We can choose to listen to Christian radio or tapes. We can take time

daily for quiet meditation on his Word. We can commit the Word to memory

and draw on its power during the day. And as we listen to the voice

of the Spirit rather than the noise around us, we can enter into

his peace and live in communion with him.

Application

a) What pressures do I face that tend to distract me from the reality

of Christ's presence?

b) How can I "let the word of Christ dwell richly" in me, so that I

an regain my focus on him?

c) What practical changes can I make in my life to help me focus

my attention on Jesus and his word?

4) From Prosperity Promises - Kenneth Copeland

3 John 2

2 Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be

in good health, even as your soul is well.

2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health,

even as thy soul prospereth.

5) From a Book called God's Promises for you:

God's Inexhaustible Strength

Is 40:27-31

27 Why do you say, O Jacob,

and assert, O Israel,

"My way is hidden from the Lord,

and my justice escapes the notice of my God"?

28 (Ps 147:5; Ge 21:33; Isa 57:15) Have you not known?

Have you not heard,

that the everlasting God, the Lord,

the Creator of the ends of the earth,

does not faint, nor is He weary?

His understanding is inscrutable.

29 (Isa 41:10) He gives power to the faint,

and to those who have no might He increases strength.

30 (Isa 9:17) Even the youths shall faint and be weary,

and the young men shall utterly fall,

31 (2Co 4:16; Ps 103:5; Ex 19:4) but those who wait upon the Lord

shall renew their strength;

they shall mount up with wings as eagles,

they shall run and not be weary,

and they shall walk and not faint.

27 Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, My way is hid

from the LORD, and my judgment is passed over from my God?

28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God,

the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not,

neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.

29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might

he increaseth strength.

30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall

utterly fall:

31 but they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall

mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary;

and they shall walk, and not faint.

Remember God's promises when You pray

The Lord's prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

9 "Therefore pray in this manner:

Our Father who is in heaven,

hallowed be Your name.

10 (Mt 3:2; 4:17) Your kingdom come;

Your will be done

on earth, as it is in heaven.

11 (Pr 30:8; Isa 33:16) Give us this day our daily bread.

12 (Ex 34:7; Ps 32:1) And forgive us our debts,

as we forgive our debtors.

13 (1Co 10:13; Jn 17:15) And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."

9 After this manner therefore pray ye:

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

11 Give us this day our daily bread.

12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Alberta

Quick facts on Muslims in Alberta

Alberta 2015 population 4121700

est Muslim Population 195240

CNMM Networks: Calgary and Edmonton

It is estimated that Calgary has 82000 Muslims and Edmonton another 50000 .

Alberta may have a total as high as 195240 today.

Calgary is notable as the first Canadian city with a Muslim mayor. It's

become a prominent place of Islamic fundamentalism.

Edmonton's Muslim population is very diverse, with the largest group

coming from Tanzania, followed by Somalia, and then North African countries

such as Egypt, Morocco, etc.

Muslims are coming to faith in Jesus! They overcome huge spiritual,

emotional and cultural hurdles to follow Christ. Yet their challenges still

continue, especially in growing in discipleship. They often fell lost in our

Western congregations, and equally lost trying to find a church body with whom

they can identify. some are even being lured into Christian cult groups.

Please join us in praying for:

- The church to reach out to the growing Muslim populations in Alberta.

- for Canadian churches to start contextualised discipleship ministries to

Muslim-background believers.

- for Muslm-background believers to be well grounded spiritually and socially

in their faith and the Church.

- and for Muslim-background believers to share their faith with their

not-yet-believing family and friendship networks.

- for Farsi and Arabic fellowships to grow in spiritual maturity and outreach.

- for current and new workers among Muslims in these growing Muslim

in these growing Muslim population centres.

30 days of prayer for the Muslim World 24 April to 23 May 2020

Under the Keep Praying page

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month

and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days

of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that

usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,

of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be

decorated and festivals will be held.

For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the

distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of

Islam.

You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",

which means Blessed Eid!"

Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you

know, and Muslims around the world:

- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions

in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about

unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such

movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three

decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim

relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.

Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,

"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;

your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.

18 Even on My menservants and maidservants

I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.

19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below:

blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,

and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes.

21 And whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."[a]

Footnotes

Acts 2:21 Joel 2:28-32.

- Pray for Christian workers an organisations focused on seeing effective

discipleship movements among Muslim people.

- Ask the Holy Spirit to continue to inspire you to have god's heart for

Muslims, to see them as He does, and to be the light that then to Jesus.

Matthew 5:14-15 : 14 "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a

hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do men light a candle and put it under

a basket, but on a candlestick. And it gives light to all who are in the

house."

Ideas for prayer

- Pray for opportunities to show the love of Christ to Muslims around you

- Pray for, and offer generous hospitality to, those you know who are serving

Christ among Muslim people -

Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."

- When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims

throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days!

My paternal side is of Muslim heritage and will offer this section to further

call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity

(Hindus, Jews, aboriginals Canadian, ...) .

Romans 12:4-8

4 (1Co 12:12-14)For just as we have many parts in one body,

and not all parts have the same function,

and all are parts of one another.

6(Ac 13:1; 1Co 13:2)We have diverse gifts according to the grace that

is given to us: if prophecy, according to the proportion of faith;

DAY 2: What Does My Character Reflect?

Verse of the day:

Philippians 1:27

27 (Eph 4:1; Jude 1:3) Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel

of Christ, that whether or not I come and see you, I may hear of your

activities, that you are standing fast in one spirit, with one mind,

striving together for the faith of the gospel.

[27] Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that

whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs,

that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the

faith of the gospel;

Every human life has a center that motivates alldecisions. We are either

gospel-centered or we are me-centered. Even people who seem kind and

good can be me-centered if their motivation is not to glorify God.

A gospel-centered life is an outward-looking life ready to share the good

news with others. Their feet are "shod with the preparation of the gospel

of peace;" Ephesians 6:15. The heart reveres Christ as

Lord and is " But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always

to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that

is in youwith meekness and fear:" I Peter 3:15

The word "gospel" means "good news" so a gospel-centered life is a

Jesus-centered life.

Our decisions are based on pleasing God when we live a gospel-centered

life. On the other hand, a life centered on ourselves means we base our

decisions on pleasingourselves or others.

Reflection: What kind of life have I been living? is my conduct worthy of

Christ? Does my life reflect a Christ-centered life? Does my conduct and

character reflect my faith in Christ? Do I live a gospelled life?

Prayer: Dear God, spray that my conduct will reflect who you olre in my

life. That in all I do and in all that I am given, I would give you all praise,

honour, and glory. Father, help me to extend your compassion to those

you have placed in rny life to love. Help me to remember lam not here for

myself ond not to give half-efforts in anything you have given me to do.

God, in Parenthood, friendship, my jobs, my ministries, disclpling other

people... you don't demand perfection but you expect my best effort. I pray

that I wouid be a witness to your goodness and glory in all things and

through all things. In Jesus name, amen.

Scripture reflection: 1 Corinthians 10:31,

31 (Col 3:17; 1Pe 4:11) Therefore, whether you eat, or drink,

or whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God.

Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the

glory of God.

Romans 8:8

and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

1 Thessalonians 2:4

4 (Gal 1:10; 2:7; Ro 8:27) But as we were allowed by God to be entrusted

with the gospel, even so we speak, not to please men, but God,

who examines our hearts.

[4] But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even

so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.

Conclusion:

Pray to seek the Lord's will to be a good worker

Pray to the Lord: "Dear God, You love me even when I go astray and wander.

Help me to stay always in Your sheepfold, that I might receive Your love

and care."

Pray to the Lord and pray to focus that His world will dwell in you.
