Day 276 - 3 October 2021 reflections

Day 276, 3 October 2021

Today at https://www.calvarycommunity.ca/ we heard Pastor Bev Sisink

address What is a believer.

John 12:26

26 (Jn 14:3; 17:24) If anyone serves Me, he must follow Me. Where I am,

there will My servant be also. If anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him.

Luke 14:26

26 (Mt 10:37; Jn 12:25) If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father

and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes,

and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple.

1 John 4:20

20 (1Jn 2:4; 3:17) If anyone says, "I love God," and hates his brother,

he is a liar. For whoever does not love his brother whom he has seen,

how can he love God whom he has not seen?

John 6:31-32

31 (Ne 9:15; Ps 105:40) "Our fathers ate manna in the desert. As it is written,

'He gave them bread from heaven to eat.'

Ex 16:4, 15; Ne 9:15; Ps 78:24-25."

32 Then Jesus said, "Truly, truly I say to you, Moses did not give you

the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread from heaven."

John 15:7-8

7 (Jn 14:13; 15:16) If you remain in Me, and My words remain in you,

you will ask whatever you desire, and it shall be done for you.

8 (Mt 5:16; Jn 8:31) My Father is glorified by this, that you bear

much fruit; so you will be My disciples.

Matthew 16:24

24 (Mt 10:38; Lk 14:27) Then Jesus said to His disciples,

"If anyone will come after Me, let him deny himself,

and take up his cross, and follow Me."

Matthew 4; Luke 4-5

Matthew 4

The Temptation of Jesus

Mk 1:12-13; Lk 4:1-13

1 (Lk 4:1-13; Heb 2:18) Then Jesus was led up into the wilderness

by the Spirit to be tempted by the devil.

2 (1Ki 19:8; Ex 34:28) And He had fasted for forty days and forty nights,

and then He was hungry.

3 (1Th 3:5; Mt 3:17) And the tempter came to Him and said,

"If You are the Son of God, command that these stones be turned into bread."

4 (Dt 8:3; Lk 4:4; Mt 4:7) But He answered, "It is written,

'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds

out of the mouth of God.'Ex 20:12; Dt 5:16."

5 (Mt 27:53; Ne 11:1) Then the devil took Him up into the holy city,

and set Him on the highest point of the temple,

6 (Ps 91:11-12) and said to Him, "If You are the Son of God,

throw Yourself down. For it is written,

'He shall give His angels charge concerning you,' Ps 91:11-12.

and

'In their hands they shall lift you up,

lest at any time you dash your foot against a stone.' Ps 91:12."

7 (Dt 6:16; Mt 4:4) Jesus said to him, "It is also written,

'You shall not tempt the Lord your God.' Dt 6:16."

8 (Mt 16:26; 1Jn 2:15-16) Again, the devil took Him up on a very high

mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their grandeur,

9 and said to Him, "All these things I will give You if You will fall down

and worship me. "

10 (1Ch 21:1; Dt 10:20) Then Jesus said to him, "Get away from here, Satan!

For it is written, 'You shall worship the Lord your God,

and Him only shall you serve.'Dt 6:13. "

11 (Mt 26:53; Lk 22:43; Heb 1:14) Then the devil left Him, a

nd immediately angels came and ministered to Him.

The Beginning of the Galilean Ministry

Mk 1:14-15; Lk 4:14-15

12 (Mk 1:14; Lk 3:20; 4:14) Now when Jesus heard that John

was put in prison, He left for Galilee.

13 (Mk 1:21; Jn 4:46) And leaving Nazareth, He came and lived

in Capernaum, which is by the sea, in the regions of Zebulun and Naphtali,

14 (Mt 1:22) that what was spoken by Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled,

saying:

15 "The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali,

the way to the sea, beyond the Jordan,

Galilee of the Gentiles:

16 (Lk 2:32; Job 3:5) The people who sat in darkness

saw great light.

And on those who sat in the land of the shadow of death,

light has dawned."

17 (Mt 3:2; Mk 1:14-15) From that time Jesus began to preach, saying,

"Repent! For the kingdom of heaven is at hand."

The Calling of the First Disciples

Mk 1:16-20; Lk 5:1-11

18 (Jn 1:40-42; Mt 15:29) As Jesus walked beside the Sea of Galilee,

He saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother,

throwing a net into the sea, for they were fishermen.

19 And He said to them, "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men."

20 They immediately left their nets and followed Him.

21 (Mt 10:2) And going on from there, He saw two other brothers,

James the son of Zebedee and John his brother,

in a boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets, and He called them.

22 They immediately left the boat and their father and followed Him.

Ministering to Great Crowds

Lk 6:17-19

23 (Mt 9:35; 13:54; Mk 1:21) Jesus went throughout all Galilee teaching

in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom,

and healing all kinds of sickness and all sorts of diseases among the people.

24 (Mt 8:6; 17:15) His fame went throughout all Syria. And they brought

to Him all sick people who were taken with various diseases

and tormented with pain, those who were possessed with demons,

those who had seizures, and those who had paralysis, and He healed them.

25 (Lk 6:17; Mk 5:20) Great crowds followed Him from Galilee, the Decapolis,

Jerusalem, Judea, and from beyond the Jordan.

Luke 4

The Temptation of Jesus

Mt 4:1-11; Mk 1:12-13

1 (Mt 4:1–11; Mk 1:12-13) Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit,

returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,

2 (1Ki 19:8; Ex 34:28) being tempted by the devil for forty days.

During those days He ate nothing. And when they were ended, He was hungry.

3 The devil said to Him, "If You are the Son of God,

command this stone to become bread."

4 (Dt 8:3; Lk 4:8) Jesus answered him, "It is written,

'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.'Dt 8:3."

5 The devil, taking Him up onto a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms

of the world in a moment of time.

6 (Jn 12:31; 14:30) And the devil said to Him, "I will give You all this power

and their glory, for it has been delivered to me. And I give it to whomever

I will.

7 If You, then, will worship me, all will be Yours."

8 (Dt 6:13; Mt 4:10) And Jesus answered him,

"Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written,

'You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only shall you serve.'Dt 6:13."

9 (Mt 4:5-6; Lk 4:3) He brought Him to Jerusalem, set Him on the pinnacle

of the temple, and said to Him, "If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself

down from here.

10 (Ps 91:11-12) For it is written:

'He shall give His angels charge concerning you,

to preserve you,'

11 and

'In their hands they shall hold you up,

lest you strike your foot against a stone.'Ps 91:11–12."

12 (Dt 6:16) Jesus answered him,

"It is said, 'You shall not tempt the Lord your God.'Dt 6:16."

13 (Jn 14:30; Heb 4:15) When the devil had ended all the temptations,

he departed from Him until another time.

The Beginning of the Galilean Ministry

Mt 4:12-17; Mk 1:14-15

14 (Mt 4:12) Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee.

And His fame went throughout the surrounding region. 1

5 (Mt 4:23) He taught in their synagogues, being glorified by everyone.

The Rejection of Jesus at Nazareth

Mt 13:53-58; Mk 6:1-6

16 (Lk 2:51; 2:39) He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up.

And as His custom was, He went to the synagogue on the Sabbath day.

And He stood up to read.

17 The scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to Him. When He had unrolled

the scroll, He found the place where it was written:

18 (Mt 11:5; Ps 146:7-8; Isa 42:7) "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,

because He has anointed Me

to preach the gospel to the poor;

He has sent Me to heal the broken-hearted,

to preach deliverance to the captives

and recovery of sight to the blind,

to set at liberty those who are oppressed;

19 Isa 61:2 to preach the acceptable year of the Lord."

20 (Lk 4:17; Mt 26:55) Then He rolled up the scroll, and He gave it back

to the attendant, and sat down. The eyes of all those who were

in the synagogue were fixed on Him.

21 And He began to say to them, "Today this Scripture is fulfilled

in your hearing."

22 (Jn 6:42; Ps 45:2) All bore witness to Him, and wondered

at the gracious words which came from His mouth.

Then they said, "Is this not Joseph's son?"

23 (Mt 4:13; Mk 6:1) He said to them, "You will surely say to Me this proverb,

'Physician, heal Yourself. Whatever we have heard done in Capernaum,

do also here in Your country.' "

24 (Mt 13:57; Jn 4:44) He also said, "Truly, I say to you,

no prophet is accepted in his own country.

25 (1Ki 17:1; Jas 5:17) But I tell you truthfully, many widows were

in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heavens were closed

for three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land.

26 Yet to none of them was Elijah sent except to Zarephath, a city of Sidon,

to a woman who was a widow.

27 And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet.

But none of them was cleansed except Naaman the Syrian."

28 All those in the synagogue, when they heard these things,

were filled with wrath.

29 (Nu 15:35) They rose up and thrust Him out of the city

and led Him to the brow of the hill on which their city was built,

that they might throw Him down headlong.

30 (Jn 10:39; 8:59 ) But passing through the midst of them, He went His way.

The Man With an Unclean Spirit

Mk 1:21-28

31 (Mt 4:13) Then He went down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee,

and was teaching them on the Sabbaths.

32 (Lk 4:36; Mt 7:28-29) They were astonished at His teaching,

for His word was with authority.

33 In the synagogue there was a man who had the spirit

of an unclean demon. And he cried out with a loud voice,

34 (Mk 1:24; Mt 8:29; Jas 2:19) "Leave us alone! What have You to do with us,

Jesus of Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us?

I know who You are-the Holy One of God!"

35 (Lk 4:41; Mt 8:26) Jesus rebuked him, saying, "Be silent,

and come out of him!” When the demon had thrown him down

in their midst, he came out of him and did not hurt him.

36 (Lk 4:32) They were all amazed and said among themselves,

"What a word this is! For with authority

and power He commands the unclean spirits, and they come out."

37 (Lk 4:14; Mt 9:26) And His fame went out to every place

in the surrounding countryside.

The Healing of Many People

Mt 8:14-17; Mk 1:29-34

38 (Mt 8:14-15; Mk 1:29-31) He went out of the synagogue

and entered Simon's house. Now Simon's mother-in-law was taken

ill with a high fever, and they asked Him about her.

39 (Lk 4:35; 8:24) So He stood over her and rebuked the fever,

and it left her. And immediately she rose and served them.

40 (Mt 8:16-17; Mk 1:32-34) Now when the sun was setting,

all those who had anyone sick with various diseases brought

them to Him. And He laid His hands on every one of them

and healed them.

41 (Mk 1:34; 3:11) And demons came out of many, crying out,

"You are the Christ, the Son of God!" But He rebuked them

and did not permit them to speak, because they knew that

He was the Christ.

Preaching in the Synagogues

Mk 1:35-39

42 When it was day He departed and went into a remote place.

And searching for Him, the people came to Him and tried

to prevent Him from leaving them.

43 But He said to them, "I must preach the kingdom of God

to other cities also, for this is why I was sent."

44 (Mt 4:23; Mk 1:39) And He was preaching in the synagogues

of Galilee.

Luke 5

The Calling of the First Disciples

Mt 4:18-22; Mk 1:16-20

1 (Nu 34:11; Jos 12:3) As the people pressed upon Him to hear

the word of God, He stood by the Lake of Gennesaret

2 (Mk 1:19; Mt 4:21) and saw two boats beside the lake.

But the fishermen had gone out of them and were washing their nets.

3 He entered one of the boats, which was Simon's, and asked him

to thrust it out a little from the land.

Then He sat down and taught the people from the boat.

4 (Jn 21:6) When He had finished speaking, He said to Simon,

"Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch."

5 (Jn 21:3) Simon answered Him, "Master, we have worked all night

and have caught nothing. But at Your word I will let down the net."

6 When they had done this, they caught a great number of fish,

and their net was tearing.

7 So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come

and help them. And they came and filled both boats, so that

they began to sink.

8 (Isa 6:5) When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees,

saying, "Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord."

9 For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch

of fish which they had taken,

10 and so were James and John, the sons of Zebedee,

who were partners with Simon.

Then Jesus said to Simon, "Do not fear. From now on you will catch men."

11 (Mt 4:20; 19:27) So when they had brought their boats to land,

they left everything and followed Him.

The Cleansing of a Leper

Mt 8:1-4; Mk 1:40-45

12 (Mt 8:2-4; 9:28) When He was in a certain city, a man full of leprosy,

upon seeing Jesus, fell on his face and begged Him,

"Lord, if You will, You can make me clean."

13 He reached out His hand and touched him, saying, "I will. Be clean."

And immediately the leprosy left him.

14 (Lev 14:2-32; Mt 8:4) Then He commanded him to tell no one,

"But go and show yourself to the priest and make an offering

for your cleansing, as Moses commanded, as a testimony to them."

15 (Mt 9:26) Yet even more so His fame went everywhere.

And great crowds came together to hear and to be healed by Him

of their infirmities.

16 (Mt 14:23; Lk 6:12) But He withdrew to the wilderness and prayed.

The Healing of a Paralytic

Mt 9:1-8; Mk 2:1-12

17 (Mt 15:1; Lk 6:19) On a certain day, as He was teaching,

Pharisees and teachers of the law were sitting nearby,

who had come from every town of Galilee and Judea

and from Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was present

to heal the sick.

18 (Mt 9:2-8; Mk 2:3-12) Now some men brought in a bed

a man who was paralyzed. They searched for ways to bring him

in and lay him before Him.

19 (Mk 2:4; Dt 22:8) When they could not find a way to bring

him in, because of the crowd, they went up on the roof

and let him down through the tiles with his bed into their midst

before Jesus.

20 (Lk 7:48; Mt 9:2) When He saw their faith, He said to him,

"Man, your sins are forgiven you."

21 (Isa 43:25; Ps 32:5) The scribes and the Pharisees began

to question, "Who is He who speaks blasphemies?

Who can forgive sins but God alone?"

22 When Jesus perceived their thoughts, He answered them,

"Why question in your hearts?

23 Which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven you,' or to say,

'Rise up and walk'?

24 But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority

on earth to forgive sins," He said to the paralyzed man,

"I say to you, rise, take up your bed, and go to your house."

25 Immediately he rose before them, and took up that on which he lay,

and departed to his own house, glorifying God.

26(Mt 9:8; Lk 7:16) They were all amazed, and they glorified God

and were filled with fear, saying, "We have seen wonderful things today."

The Calling of Levi

Mt 9:9-13; Mk 2:13-17

27 After these things He went out and saw a tax collector, named Levi,

sitting at the tax collector's station. He said to him, "Follow Me."

28 (Lk 5:11) And he left everything, rose up, and followed Him.

29 (Lk 15:1) Then Levi made Him a great feast in his house.

And there was a group of many tax collectors and others who sat down

with them.

30 (Ac 23:9) But their scribes and Pharisees murmured

against His disciples, saying,

"Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?"

31 (Mt 9:12-13; Mk 2:17) Jesus answered them,

"Those who are well do not need a physician, but those who are sick.

32 (Lk 15:7; 15:10) I have not come to call the righteous,

but sinners to repentance."

The Question About Fasting

Mt 9:14-17; Mk 2:18-22

33 (Lk 11:1; 18:12) They said to Him, "Why do the disciples of John

fast often and offer prayers, and likewise the disciples

of the Pharisees, but Yours eat and drink?"

34 (Jn 3:29) He said to them, "Can you make the attendants

of the bridegroom fast while the bridegroom is with them?

35 (Lk 17:22) But the days will come when the bridegroom

will be taken away from them. Then in those days they will fast."

36 He told them a parable also: "No one sews a piece of a new material

on an old one. Otherwise the new would tear, for the new piece does not

match the old.

37 (Jos 9:4) And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise

the new wine will burst the wineskins, and it will be spilled,

and the wineskins will be destroyed.

38 But new wine must be put into new wineskins, and both are preserved.

39 And no one, having drunk old wine, immediately desires new.

For he says, 'The old is better.' "

Entitled The Dwindles

2 Corinthians 4:7–18

7 (2Co 5:1; La 4:2) But we have this treasure in earthen vessels,

the excellency of the power being from God and not from ourselves.

8 (2Co 7:5) We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed;

we are perplexed, but not in despair;

9 (Heb 13:5) persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;

10 (Ro 6:5; 2Co 1:5) and always carrying around in the body the death

of the Lord Jesus, that also the life of Jesus might be expressed

in our bodies.

11 (Ro 8:36) For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus' sake,

that also the life of Jesus might be manifested in our mortal flesh.

12 (2Co 13:9) So then, death works in us, but life in you.

13 (Ps 116:10; 1Co 12:9) We have the same spirit of faith.

As it is written, "I believed, and therefore I have spoken."

[Ps 116:10, LXX (Septuagint)]. So we also believe and therefore speak,

14 (1Th 4:14; Eph 5:27) knowing that He who raised the Lord Jesus will

also raise us through Jesus and will present us with you.

15 (2Co 1:11; Ro 8:28) All these things are for your sakes,

so that the abundant grace through the thanksgiving

of many might overflow to the glory of God.

Living by Faith

16 (Ro 7:22; Isa 40:31) For this reason we do not lose heart:

Even though our outward man is perishing, yet our inward man

is being renewed day by day.

17 (Ro 8:18; 1Pe 5:10) Our light affliction, which lasts but for a moment,

works for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory,

18 (Heb 11:1; 2Co 5:7) while we do not look at the things which are seen,

but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are

temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

It started with a tickle in my throat. Uh oh, I thought. That tickle turned

out to be influenza. And that was just the beginning of bronchial affliction.

Influenza morphed into whooping cough-yes, that whooping cough-and

that turned into pneumonia.

Eight weeks of torso-wracking coughing-it's not called whooping cough

for nothing-has left me humbled. I don't think of myself as old.

But I'm old enough to start thinking about heading in that direction.

A member of my small group at church has a funny name for the health issues

that assail us as we age: "the dwindles." But there's nothing funny about

dwindling's work "in action."

In 2 Corinthians 4, Paul too wrote-in his own way-about "the dwindles."

That chapter chronicles the persecution he and his team endured.

Fulfilling his mission had taken a heavy toll: "Outwardly we are

wasting away," he admitted. But even as his body failed-from age, persecution,

and harsh conditions-Paul held tightly to his sustaining hope:

"Inwardly we are being renewed day by day" (v. 16). These "light

and momentary troubles," he insisted, can't compare to what awaits:

"an eternal glory that far outweighs them all" (v. 17).

Even as I write tonight, the dwindles claw insistently at my chest.

But I know that in my life and that of anyone who clings to Christ,

they'll not have the last word.

Reflect & Pray

What "dwindle" are affecting you or someone you love right now?

What can help you maintain your faith and hope during seasons

of struggle or discouragement with health issues?

Father, even as our bodies "waste away,"

help me to see those physical struggles through the lens

of our hope in Jesus and the glory He promises.

Week 3 - Saved Now and Forever - Day 1 - Bought Back

Eph 1:7

7 (Ro 3:24; Ac 2:38; 20:28) In Him we have redemption through His blood

and the forgiveness of sins according to the riches of His grace

In the opening scenes of The Glenn Miller Story, Glenn Miller, then a

struggling musician trying to find an audience for his music, enters

a pawn shop. He has hocked his trombone for rent money, and has come

to redeem it. Paying the pawn broker the money, he buys back his own

instrument and leaves the shop, indicating that he will probably

be back again.

In Eph 1:7. Paul says that in Christ "we have redemption through

His blood and the forgiveness of sin according to the riches of His grace."

We belonged to God from the beginning; he made us and stamped

his image upon us. But through sin we were lost, pawned to the

world's system and the Enemy of our souls.

But God redeemed us; he "bought us back" with the most valuable

currency in the universe - the blood of his own Son, Jesus Christ.

He did not resent the bargain, or question whether we were worth

such a price. He freely gave Jesus in trade to ransom the souls

of the people he created and loved.

Sometimes in Christian circles we get so caught up in religious

jargon that we forget what redemption really means. Gog did not have

to "get us out of hock." He was not compelled to buy us back when we

had sold ourselves to sin. But because of his love, and with no

deserving on our part, he chose to pay an enormous price to set us free.

We are redeemed, bought back, by the One who owned us in the first place.

Application

a) In what ways have I been "in hock" to sin in my life?

b) What does it mean, in pratical terms, that God "redeemed" me from that sin?

4) From Prosperity Promises - Kenneth Copeland

Genesis 39:2-3 : 2 (Ge 21:22; 26:24) The Lord was with Joseph,

so that he became a prosperous man. He was in the house of his master,

the Egyptian.

3 (Ps 1:3; Ge 21:22) His master saw that the Lord was with him

and that the Lord made all that he did to prosper.

5) From a Book called God's Promises for you:

When you are anxious

Romans 8:28-30

28 (Gal 1:15; Ge 50:20) We know that all things work together

for good to those who love God,

to those who are called according to His purpose.

29 (Ro 11:2; 1Co 15:49; Eph 1:11) For those whom He foreknew,

He predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son,

so that He might be the firstborn among many brothers.

30 (1Co 6:11; Heb 9:15) And those whom He predestined, He also called;

and those whom He called, He also justified; and those whom He justified,

He also glorified.

Remember God's promises when You pray

The Lord's prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

9 "Therefore pray in this manner:

Our Father who is in heaven,

hallowed be Your name.

10 (Mt 3:2; 4:17) Your kingdom come;

Your will be done

on earth, as it is in heaven.

11 (Pr 30:8; Isa 33:16) Give us this day our daily bread.

12 (Ex 34:7; Ps 32:1) And forgive us our debts,

as we forgive our debtors.

13 (1Co 10:13; Jn 17:15) And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."

The Muslims of Charlottetown see their community as symbolically important

for this nation since this is known as the "birthplace of Canada". Yet we were

established as the "Dominion of Canada" with an appeal not only to

monarchial authority, but even more to God's higher Biblical authority as

shown in Psalm 72:8, "May he have dominion from sea to sea,

and from the River to the ends of the earth."

Let us intercede togther for:

- the growing Muslim population of Charlottetown and spreading

outward through PEI to encounter the Prince of PEace.

- believers to have faith and vision to reach out to the Muslim Community

in contextual waysto sahre the Gosepl

- churches and ministries to rise up in wisdom, knowledge and understanding,

giving and training, coaching and encouragement to believers reaching

out to Muslims locally.

- a prayer movement to be established, feeding a growing move of Yahweh's

Spirit in His churches and poeple , and an awakening an openness

and spiritual hunger in Muslims for realtionship with the Father

through the Son.

30 days of prayer for the Muslim World 24 April to 23 May 2020

Under the Keep Praying page

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month

and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days

of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that

usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,

of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be

decorated and festivals will be held.

For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the

distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of

Islam.

You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",

which means Blessed Eid!"

Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you

know, and Muslims around the world:

- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions

in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about

unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such

movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three

decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim

relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.

Acts 2:12-17 : 17 12 They were all amazed and perplexed, saying to each other,

"What does this mean?"

13 (1Co 14:23) Others mocking said, "These men are full of new wine."

Peter's Speech at Pentecost

14 (Ac 1:26) But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice

and said to them, "Men of Judea and all you who dwell in Jerusalem,

let this be known to you, and listen to my words.

15 For these are not drunk, as you suppose,

since it is the third hour of the day.

16 But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:

17 (Isa 44:3; Ac 10:45) 'In the last days it shall be,' says God,

'that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;

your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

your young men shall see visions,

and your old men shall dream dreams.'

- Pray for Christian workers an organisations focused on seeing effective

discipleship movements among Muslim people.

- Ask the Holy Spirit to continue to inspire you to have god's heart for

Muslims, to see them as He does, and to be the light that then to Jesus.

Matthew 5:14-15 : 14 "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a

hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do men light a candle and put it under

a basket, but on a candlestick. And it gives light to all who are in the

house."

Ideas for prayer

- Pray for opportunities to show the love of Christ to Muslims around you

- Pray for, and offer generous hospitality to, those you know who are serving

Christ among Muslim people -

Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."

- When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims

throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days!

My paternal side is of Muslim heritage and will offer this section to further

call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity

(Hindus, Jews, aboriginals Canadian, atheists, secular humanists, ...) .
