Jeremiah 32
Jeremiah Buys a Field
1 (2Ki 25:1-2; Jer 39:1-2) The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord
in the tenth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, which was the eighteenth year
of Nebuchadnezzar.
2 (Ne 3:25; Jer 37:21) For then the king of Babylon's army besieged Jerusalem,
and Jeremiah the prophet was shut up in the court of the prison,
which was in the house of the king of Judah.
3 (Jer 34:2-3; 21:4-7) For Zedekiah king of Judah had shut him up, saying,
"Why do you prophesy? You say: Thus says the Lord: I am about to give this
city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall take it,
4 (Jer 38:18; 38:23) and Zedekiah king of Judah will not escape
out of the hand of the Chaldeans, but will surely be delivered into the hand
of the king of Babylon, and will speak with him face to face and see him
eye to eye.
5 (Jer 27:22; 33:5) And he will lead Zedekiah to Babylon, and there he will be
until I visit him, says the Lord. Though you fight against the Chaldeans,
you will not succeed."
6 So Jeremiah said, The word of the Lord came to me, saying:
7 (Jer 1:1; Lev 25:25) Hanamel the son of Shallum your uncle will come to you,
saying, "Buy my field that is in Anathoth. For the right of redemption
is yours to buy it."
8 (Jer 32:2; 32:7) So Hanamel my uncle's son came to me in the court
of the prison according to the word of the Lord and said to me, "Please buy
my field, that is in Anathoth, which is in the country of Benjamin;
for the right of inheritance and the redemption is yours.
Buy it for yourself."
Then I knew that this was the word of the Lord.
9 I bought the field of Hanamel my uncle's son, that was in Anathoth,
and weighed him the money, even seventeen shekels
[About 7 ounces, or 200 grams.] of silver.
10 (Jer 32:44; 32:12; Dt 32:34) I signed and sealed the deed, and summoned
witnesses, and weighed the money from him in the balances.
11 (Lk 2:27) So I took the deed of purchase, both that which was sealed
according to the law and custom, and that which was open.
12J (Jer 32:16; 51:59) And I gave the deed of purchase to Baruch
the son of Neriah, the son of Mahseiah, in the sight of Hanamel
my uncle's son, and in the presence of the witnesses
who signed the deed of purchase, before all the Jews
who sat in the court of the prison.
13 I charged Baruch in their presence, saying,
14 Thus says the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel: Take these deeds,
this sealed deed of purchase and this deed which is open, and put them
in an earthen vessel that they may last many days.
15 (Jer 30:18; 32:43-44) For thus says the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel:
Houses and fields and vineyards shall be possessed again in this land.
Jeremiah Prays for Understanding
16 (Ge 32:9-12; Jer 12:1) Now when I had delivered the deed of purchase
to Baruch the son of Neriah, I prayed to the Lord, saying:
17 (Ge 18:14; 2Ki 19:15) Ah Lord God! Truly, You have made the heavens
and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm,
and there is nothing too hard for You.
18 (Jer 10:16; Ex 34:7) You show lovingkindness to thousands,
and recompense the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom
of their children after them, O great and mighty God.
The Lord of Hosts is His name,
19 (Isa 28:29; Jer 17:10) great in counsel and mighty in deed,
whose eyes are open to all the ways of the sons of men,
to give to everyone according to his ways
and according to the fruit of his deeds.
20 (Ne 9:10; Ex 9:16) You have set signs and wonders in the land of Egypt,
even to this day, and in Israel, and among other men, and have made Yourself
a name, as it is today.
21 (Ex 6:6; Dt 26:8) And You have brought your people Israel out of the land
of Egypt with signs, and with wonders, and with a strong hand,
and with a stretched-out arm, and with great terror.
22 (Ex 3:8; 13:5) And You have given them this land, which You swore
to their fathers to give them, a land flowing with milk and honey.
23 (Ezr 9:7; Ps 78:54-55) And they entered and possessed it.
But they did not obey Your voice or walk in Your law.
They have done nothing of all that You commanded them to do;
therefore You have caused all this calamity to come upon them.
24 (Dt 4:26; Jos 23:15-16) See, the siege ramps have come to the city
to take it. And the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans
who fight against it, because of the sword, and of the famine,
and of the pestilence, and what You have spoken has come to pass,
as You can see.
25 (Jer 32:24) O Lord God, You have said to me,
"Buy the field for money and call in witnesses,"
although the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.
God Promises the People's Return
26 Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying:
27 (Nu 16:22; 27:16) Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh.
Is anything too hard for Me?
28 (Jer 32:3; 19:7-12) Therefore thus says the Lord: I will give this city
into the hand of the Chaldeans and into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar
king of Babylon, and he shall take it.
29 (Jer 19:13; 21:10) And the Chaldeans who fight against this city
will come and set this city on fire and burn it with the houses,
upon whose roofs they have offered incense to Baal
and poured out drink offerings to other gods, to provoke Me to anger.
30 (Dt 9:7-12; Isa 63:10) Indeed the sons of Israel and the sons of Judah
have only done evil before Me from their youth.
For the sons of Israel have only provoked Me to anger with the work
of their hands, says the Lord.
31 (2Ki 23:27; 1Ki 11:7-8) Indeed this city has been to Me a provocation
of My anger and My fury from the day that they built it, even to this day,
so that I should remove it from before My face,
32 (Isa 1:4-6; Jer 2:26) because of all the evil of the sons of Israel
and of the sons of Judah which they have done to provoke Me to anger,
they, their kings, their officials, their priests, and their prophets,
and the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
33 (Jer 2:27; 7:13) They have turned their back to Me and not their face.
Though I taught them, rising up early and teaching them, yet they have
not listened nor received instruction.
34 (Jer 7:30; 2Ki 21:4-7) But they set their abominations in the house
which is called by My name, to defile it.
35 (Jer 7:31; Lev 18:21; 20:2-5) They built the high places of Baal
which are in the Valley of Ben Hinnom to cause their sons and their daughters
to pass through the fire to Molek, which I had not commanded them,
nor did it come into My mind that they should do this abomination,
to cause Judah to sin.
36 (Jer 32:24; 32:3) Now therefore, thus says the Lord, the God of Israel,
concerning this city of which you say, "It shall be delivered
into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, and by famine,
and by pestilence":
37(Jer 23:3; 23:6) See, I will gather them out of all countries wherever
I have driven them in My anger, and in My fury, and in great wrath;
and I will bring them again to this place,
and I will cause them to dwell safely.
38 (Jer 24:7; 30:22) And they shall be My people, and I will be their God.
39 (Dt 11:18-21; 2Ch 30:12) And I will give them one heart and one way,
that they may fear Me forever, for their good and for their children
after them.
40 (Isa 55:3; Jer 50:5) And I will make an everlasting covenant with them
that I will not turn away from them, to do them good. But I will put My fear
in their hearts so that they shall not depart from Me.
41 (Jer 24:6; Dt 30:9) Indeed, I will rejoice over them to do them good,
and I will plant them in this land assuredly with My whole heart
and with My whole soul.
42 (Jer 31:28; Zec 8:14-15) For thus says the Lord: Just as I have brought
all this great calamity upon this people, so I will bring upon them
all the good that I have promised them.
43 (Jer 32:15; Eze 37:11-14) Fields will be bought in this land of which you
say, It is desolate, without man or beast. It is given
into the hand of the Chaldeans.
44 (Jer 17:26; 33:7) Men will buy fields for money, sign and seal deeds,
and call in witnesses in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about
Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, and in the cities of the mountains,
and in the cities of the valley, and in the cities of the Negev;
for I will restore their fortunes, says the Lord.
Jeremiah 32
[1] The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD in the tenth year of

[2] For then the king of Babylon's army besieged Jerusalem: and Jeremiah the
prophet was shut up in the court of the prison, which was in the king of
Judah's house.
[3] For Zedekiah king of Judah had shut him up, saying, Wherefore dost thou
prophesy, and say, Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will give this city into
the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall take it;
[4] And Zedekiah king of Judah shall not escape out of the hand of the
Chaldeans, but shall surely be delivered into the hand of the king of
Babylon, and shall speak with him mouth to mouth, and his eyes shall behold
his eyes;
[5] And he shall lead Zedekiah to Babylon, and there shall he be until I
visit him, saith the LORD: though ye fight with the Chaldeans, ye shall not
prosper?
[6] And Jeremiah said, The word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
[7] Behold, Hanameel the son of Shallum thine uncle shall come unto thee,
saying, Buy thee my field that is in Anathoth: for the right of redemption
is thine to buy it.
[8] So Hanameel mine uncle's son came to me in the court of the prison
according to the word of the LORD, and said unto me, Buy my field, I pray

weighed him the money in the balances.

the son of Maaseiah, in the sight of Hanameel mine uncle's son, and in the
presence of the witnesses that subscribed the book of the purchase, before
all the Jews that sat in the court of the prison.
[13] And I charged Baruch before them, saying,
[14] Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Take these evidences,
this evidence of the purchase, both which is sealed, and this evidence which
is open; and put them in an earthen vessel, that they may continue many days.
[15] For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Houses and fields
and vineyards shall be possessed again in this land.
[16] Now when I had delivered the evidence of the purchase unto Baruch the
son of Neriah, I prayed unto the LORD, saying,
[17] Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy
great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:
[18] Thou shewest lovingkindness unto thousands, and recompensest the
iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them: the
Great, the Mighty God, the LORD of hosts, is his name,
[19] Great in counsel, and mighty in work: for thine eyes are open upon all
the ways of the sons of men: to give every one according to his ways, and
according to the fruit of his doings:
[20] Which hast set signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, even unto this
day, and in Israel, and among other men; and hast made thee a name, as at
this day;
[21] And hast brought forth thy people Israel out of the land of Egypt with
signs, and with wonders, and with a strong hand, and with a stretched out
arm, and with great terror;
[22] And hast given them this land, which thou didst swear to their fathers
to give them, a land flowing with milk and honey;
[23] And they came in, and possessed it; but they obeyed not thy voice,
neither walked in thy law; they have done nothing of all that thou
commandedst them to do: therefore thou hast caused all this evil to come
upon them:
[24] Behold the mounts, they are come unto the city to take it; and the city
is given into the hand of the Chaldeans, that fight against it, because of
the sword, and of the famine, and of the pestilence: and what thou hast
spoken is come to pass; and, behold, thou seest it.
[25] And thou hast said unto me, O Lord GOD, Buy thee the field for money,
and take witnesses; for the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.
[26] Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah, saying,
[27] Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too
hard for me?
[28] Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will give this city into the
hand of the Chaldeans, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon,
and he shall take it:
[29] And the Chaldeans, that fight against this city, shall come and set
fire on this city, and burn it with the houses, upon whose roofs they have
offered incense unto Baal, and poured out drink offerings unto other gods,
to provoke me to anger.
[30] For the children of Israel and the children of Judah have only done
evil before me from their youth: for the children of Israel have only

[44] Men shall buy fields for money, and subscribe evidences, and seal them,
and take witnesses in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about
Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, and in the cities of the mountains,
and in the cities of the valley, and in the cities of the south: for I will
cause their captivity to return, saith the LORD.
Jeremiah 33
The Promise of Restoration
1 (Jer 37:21; 38:28) Moreover the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah
the second time, while he was yet shut up in the court of the prison,
saying:
2 (Ex 6:3; 15:3) Thus says the Lord, the Maker of the earth, the Lord
who formed it to establish it; the Lord is His name:
3 (Jer 29:12; Ps 91:15) Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you
great and mighty things which you do not know.
4 (Jer 32:24; Eze 4:2) For thus says the Lord God of Israel concerning
the houses of this city, and concerning the houses of the kings of Judah,
which are thrown down to make a defense against the siege mounds
and against the sword:
5 (Isa 8:17; Jer 21:4-7) They come to fight with the Chaldeans, but it is
to fill them with the dead bodies of men whom I have slain in My anger
and in My fury, all for whose wickedness I have hidden My face from this city.
6 (Isa 30:26; 66:12) I will bring it health and healing, and I will heal them;
and I will reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth.
7 (Isa 1:26; Jer 30:3) I will restore the fortunes of Judah and the fortunes
of Israel, and will build them as at the first.
8 (Ps 51:2; Jer 31:34) I will cleanse them from all their iniquity whereby
they have sinned against Me. And I will pardon all their iniquities whereby
they have sinned and whereby they have transgressed against Me.
9 (Jer 13:11; Isa 60:5) It will be to Me a name of joy, praise,
and honor before all the nations of the earth which shall hear of all the good
that I do to them; and they will fear and tremble for all the goodness and for
all the prosperity that I procure for it.
10 (Jer 32:43) Thus says the Lord: Again there shall be heard in this place
of which you say, "It is desolate, without man and without beast,"
even in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem,
that are desolate, without man and without inhabitant, and without beast,
11 (1Ch 16:34; 16:8) the voice of joy, and the voice of gladness,
the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the voice of those
who shall say,
"Give thanks to the Lord of Hosts,
for the Lord is good;
for His mercy endures forever,"
and of those who bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the Lord.
For I will restore the fortunes of the land as at the first, says the Lord.
12 (Isa 65:10; Jer 31:24) Thus says the Lord of Hosts: Again in this place
which is desolate, without man and without beast, and in all the cities,
will be a habitation of shepherds causing their flocks to lie down.
13 (Lev 27:32; Jer 17:26) In the cities of the mountains, in the cities
of the vale, and in the cities of the Negev, and in the land of Benjamin,
and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah,
shall the flocks pass again under the hands of him who numbers them,
says the Lord.
The Davidic Covenant
14 (Jer 29:10; 23:5) Surely, the days are coming, says the Lord, when
I will perform that good word which I have promised to the house of Israel
and to the house of Judah:
15 (Isa 4:2; 11:1-5) In those days and at that time,
I will cause a righteous Branch to spring up for David;
and he shall execute justice and righteousness in the earth.
16 (Jer 23:6; Isa 45:17; 1Co 1:30) In those days Judah will be saved,
and Jerusalem will dwell safely.
And this is the name by which she will be called:
THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.
17 (1Ki 2:4; Ps 89:29-37) For thus says the Lord: David shall never lack
a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel;
18 nor shall the Levitical priests lack a man before Me to offer burnt
offerings, to kindle grain offerings, and to sacrifice continually.
19 The word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying:
20 (Ge 8:22; Ps 89:37) Thus says the Lord: If you can break
My covenant of the day and My covenant of the night so that there
should not be day and night in their season,
21 (2Ch 7:18; Ps 89:34) then also My covenant may be broken
with David My servant, that he should not have a son to reign on his throne,
and with the Levitical priests, My ministers.
22 (Ge 15:5; 22:17) As the host of heaven cannot be numbered
nor the sand of the sea measured, so I will multiply the seed of David
My servant and the Levites that minister to Me.
23 Moreover the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying:
24 (Ne 4:2-4; Ps 44:13-14) Have you not considered what this people
have spoken, saying, "The two families which the Lord has chosen,
He has cast them off"? Thus they have despised My people, that they should be
no more a nation before them.
25 (Ps 74:16-17; Jer 31:35-36) Thus says the Lord: If My covenant for day
and night does not stand, and if I have not appointed the ordinances
of heaven and earth,
26 (Isa 14:1; Jer 31:37) then I would cast away the seed of Jacob
and David My servant, so that I would not take any of his seed to be rulers
over the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Yet I will restore their fortunes
and have mercy on them.
Jeremiah 33

[2] Thus saith the LORD the maker thereof, the LORD that formed it, to

[3] Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty
things, which thou knowest not.
[4] For thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning the houses of
this city, and concerning the houses of the kings of Judah, which are thrown
down by the mounts, and by the sword;
[5] They come to fight with the Chaldeans, but it is fill them with the dead
bodies of men, whom I have slain in mine anger and in my fury, and for all
whose wickedness I have hid my face from this city.
[6] Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them, and will
reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth.
[7] And I will cause the captivity of Judah and the captivity of Israel to
return, and will build them, as at the first.
[8] And I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, whereby they have
sinned against me; and I will pardon all their iniquities, whereby they have
sinned, and whereby they have transgressed against me.
[9] And it shall be to me a name of joy, a praise and an honour before all
the nations of the earth, which shall hear all the good that I do unto them:
and they shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and for all the
prosperity that I procure unto it.
[10] Thus saith the LORD; Again there shall be heard in this place, which ye
say shall be desolate without man and without beast, even in the cities of
Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, that are desolate, without man, and
without inhabitant, and without beast,

Praise the LORD of hosts: for the LORD is good; for his mercy endureth for

[12] Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Again in this place, which is desolate
without man and without beast, and in all the cities thereof, shall be an

[13] In the cities of the mountains, in the cities of the vale, and in the
cities of the south, and in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about
Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, shall the flocks pass again under the
hands of him that telleth them, saith the LORD.
[14] Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will perform that good
thing which I have promised unto the house of Israel and to the house of
Judah.
[15] In those days, and at that time, will I cause the Branch of
righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute judgment and
righteousness in the land.
[16] In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely:
and this is the name wherewith she shall be called, The LORD our righteousness.
[17] For thus saith the LORD; David shall never want a man to sit upon the
throne of the house of Israel;
[18] Neither shall the priests the Levites want a man before me to offer
burnt offerings, and to kindle meat offerings, and to do sacrifice
continually.
[19] And the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah, saying,
[20] Thus saith the LORD; If ye can break my covenant of the day, and my
covenant of the night, and that there should not be day and night in their
season;
[21] Then may also my covenant be broken with David my servant, that he

Jeremiah 34
Zedekiah to Die in Exile
1 (Jer 1:15; 32:2) The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord
when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and all his army
and all the kingdoms of the earth of his dominion
and all the people fought against Jerusalem and against all the cities,
saying:
2 (Jer 21:10; 34:22) Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: Go and speak
to Zedekiah king of Judah and tell him: Thus says the Lord: I will give
this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he will burn it with fire.
3 (Jer 32:4; 21:7) And you will not escape out of his hand, but will surely
be taken and delivered into his hand. And you will see the king of Babylon
eye to eye, and he will speak with you face to face,
and you will go to Babylon.
4 Yet hear the word of the Lord, O Zedekiah king of Judah!
Thus says the Lord concerning you: You will not die by the sword.
5 (2Ch 16:14; Jer 22:18) But you will die in peace; and as spices
were burned for your fathers, the former kings who were before you,
so they burn spices for you. And they will lament for you, saying,
"Alas, lord!" For I have pronounced the word, says the Lord.
6 (1Sa 3:18; 15:16-24) Then Jeremiah the prophet spoke all these words
to Zedekiah king of Judah in Jerusalem,
7 (Jos 10:3; 15:35) when the king of Babylon's army fought against Jerusalem,
and against all the cities of Judah that were left,
against Lachish and Azekah,
for these fortified cities remained of the cities of Judah.
Slaves to be Free
8 (Lev 25:10; 2Ki 11:17) This is the word that came to Jeremiah
from the Lord after the king Zedekiah had made a covenant with all the people
who were in Jerusalem to proclaim liberty to them:
9 (Ge 14:13; Ex 2:6) that every man should let his male slave and every man
his female slave, being a Hebrew man or a Hebrew woman, go free so that
no one should keep them, a Jew his brother, in bondage.
10 (Jer 26:10; 26:16) Now when all the officials and all the people who had
entered into the covenant heard that everyone should let his male slave
and everyone his female slave go free, so that no one should keep them
any more in bondage, then they obeyed and let them go.
11 But afterward they turned around and caused the male slaves
and the female slaves whom they had set free to return, and brought
them into subjection for male slaves and female slaves.
12 Therefore the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying:
13 (Jos 24:17; Jdg 6:8) Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: I made
a covenant with your fathers in the day that I brought them out of the land
of Egypt, out of the house of bondage, saying:
14 (Dt 15:12; 1Sa 8:7-8) "At the end of seven years, each of you shall set
free his Hebrew brother who has been sold to you; and when he has served
you six years, you shall let him go free from you." But your fathers did not
obey Me nor incline their ear.
15 (Jer 34:8; 2Ki 23:3; Ne 10:29) You recently turned and did what was right
in My sight by proclaiming liberty, every man to his neighbour; and you made
a covenant before Me in the house that is called by My name.
16 (Lev 19:12; Ex 20:7) But then you turned around and profaned My name
when every one of you took back his male and female slaves,
whom you had set free, at their pleasure, and you brought them
into subjection to be your slaves.
17 (Mt 7:2; Dt 28:25) Therefore thus says the Lord: You have not obeyed Me
in proclaiming liberty, everyone to his brother and every man
to his neighbor. I proclaim a liberty to you, says the Lord, to the sword,
to the pestilence, and to the famine; and I will make you a terror to all
the kingdoms of the earth.
18 (Ge 15:10; Dt 17:2) I will give the men who have transgressed My covenant,
who have not performed the words of the covenant which they had made
before Me, when they cut the calf in two and passed between the parts,
19 (Zep 3:3-4; Jer 29:2) the officials of Judah
and the officials of Jerusalem,
the court officers, and the priests, and all the people of the land,
who passed between the parts of the calf,
20 (Jer 7:33; 11:21) I will even give them into the hand of their enemies
and into the hand of those who seek their life; and their dead bodies
shall be food to the fowl of heaven and to the beasts of the earth.
21 (Jer 39:6; 52:24-27) Zedekiah king of Judah and his officials I will give
into the hand of their enemies and into the hand of those who seek
their life and into the hand of the king of Babylon's army,
which has gone away from you.
22 (Jer 9:11; 39:1-2) I will command, says the Lord, and cause them
to return to this city, and they will fight against it and take it
and burn it with fire; and I will make the cities of Judah a desolation
without an inhabitant.

[5] But thou shalt die in peace: and with the burnings of thy fathers, the
former kings which were before thee, so shall they burn odours for thee; and

saith the LORD.
[6] Then Jeremiah the prophet spake all these words unto Zedekiah king of
Judah in Jerusalem,
[7] When the king of Babylon's army fought against Jerusalem, and against
all the cities of Judah that were left, against Lachish, and against Azekah:
for these defenced cities remained of the cities of Judah.
[8] This is the word that came unto Jeremiah from the LORD, after that the

8 And they said to him, "We have dreamed a dream,
and there is no interpreter for it."
Then Joseph said to them, "Do not interpretations belong to God?
Please tell them to me."
9 The chief cupbearer told his dream to Joseph and said to him,
"In my dream, a vine was in front of me.
10 And in the vine there were three branches. As it budded,
its blossoms shot forth and its clusters brought forth ripe grapes.
11 Pharaoh's cup was in my hand, and I took the grapes,
and pressed them into Pharaoh's cup, and I put the cup into Pharaoh's hand."
12 Joseph said to him, "This is the interpretation of it. The three branches
are three days.
13 Within three days Pharaoh will lift up your head
and restore you to your place, and you will deliver Pharaoh's cup
into his hand in the same way you did before when you were his cupbearer.
14 But remember me when it is well with you, and show kindness,
I pray you, to me, and make mention of me to Pharaoh,
and get me out of this house.
15 For I was indeed kidnapped
out of the land of the Hebrews, and I have done nothing
that they should put me in the dungeon."
20 It happened on the third day, which was Pharaoh's birthday,
that he made a feast for all his servants. He lifted up the heads
of the chief cupbearer and the chief baker among his servants.
21 He restored the chief cupbearer to his position again,
and he put the cup into Pharaoh's hand.
22 However, he hanged the chief baker,
just as Joseph had interpreted to them.
23 Yet, the chief cupbearer did not remember Joseph, but forgot him.
[8] And they said unto him, We have dreamed a dream, and there is no

When you listen to their stories, it becomes clear that perhaps the most
difficult part of being a prisoner is isolation and loneliness. In fact, one
study revealed that regardless of the length of their incarceration, most
prisoners receive only two visits from friends or loved ones during their
time behind bars. Loneliness is a constant reality.
It's a pain I imagine Joseph felt as he sat in prison, unjustly accused of a
crime. There had been a glimmer of hope. God helped Joseph correctly interpret
a dream from a fellow inmate who happened to be a trusted servant of Pharaoh.
Joseph told the man he would be restored to his position and asked the man to
mention him to Pharaoh so Joseph could gain his freedom (Genesis 40:14). But
the man "did not remember Joseph; he forgot him" (v. 23). For two more years,
Joseph waited. In those years of waiting, without any sign that his
circumstances would change, Joseph was never completely alone because God was
with him. Eventually, the servant of Pharaoh remembered his promise
and Joseph was released after correctly interpreting another dream (41:9-14).
Regardless of circumstances that make us feel we've been forgotten, and the
feelings of loneliness that creep in, we can cling to God's reassuring
promise to His children: "I will not forget you!" (Isaiah 49:15).

Some 50 years ago, Orson Welles's radio broadcast of The War of the Worlds
threw the nation into panic; people on the East Coast ran for their lives,
expecting at any moment to be destroyed by alien invaders from outer space.
Today, of course, we are more sophisticated about such matters.
Television and movies have educated us about alien life forms.
Star Wars and Star Trek have taught us that their appearance can be much
different than ours. Sometimes they are unable to exist in our atmosphere
with artificial life-support systems; their physical makeup is often
incompatible with our environment.
God says that we, apart from Christ, are as incompatible with his kingdom
as the 'aliens' of movies are with Earth's environment.
We are at war with God, a true "war of the worlds" that staggers
the imagination.
Yet God has 'reconciled' us to his world. He has made us fit,
made us able to exist in his kingdom. He has made us part of
his world through Christ's death and resurrection.
Now, through Christ, we are 'holy' and 'without blemish' in God's sight.
And that transformation, ironically, make us 'alien' in the world around us.
No longer do we fit in a world of selfishness and greed, a world where Self
is god and everyone does what is right in his own heart.
We belong, instead, in the kingdom of God's righteousness.

population in New Brunswick, In 2007, the building that was formerly a Baptist
church was converted into Moncton's 1st mosque. The University of Moncton
also has a Muslim student association hosting prayer services, fellowship
getherings, and outreaches on campus.
Fredericton also has one mosque and a Muslim student association serving the
campuses of the University of New Brunswick and St. Thomas University.
Fredericton's Muslim population consists in 2014 of about 50 families,
and between 300 to 400 university students.
Saint John is home to the 1st Muslim Association for the province,
which also helped foster the Islamic associations of Fredericton and Moncton.
a 'musalla', or prayer location that is not officially structured as a mosque,
has been established in the Uptown area with the intention of seeing it grow
into a 2nd official place of Muslim worship. Demand for this new location has
been primarily for university students moving into the area.

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.
For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.
You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"
Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you
know, and Muslims around the world:
- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.
Acts 2:12-17 : 17 12 They were all amazed and perplexed, saying to each other,
"What does this mean?"
13 (1Co 14:23) Others mocking said, "These men are full of new wine."

Jeremiah Buys a Field
1 (2Ki 25:1-2; Jer 39:1-2) The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord
in the tenth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, which was the eighteenth year
of Nebuchadnezzar.
2 (Ne 3:25; Jer 37:21) For then the king of Babylon's army besieged Jerusalem,
and Jeremiah the prophet was shut up in the court of the prison,
which was in the house of the king of Judah.
3 (Jer 34:2-3; 21:4-7) For Zedekiah king of Judah had shut him up, saying,
"Why do you prophesy? You say: Thus says the Lord: I am about to give this
city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall take it,

my field, that is in Anathoth, which is in the country of Benjamin;
for the right of inheritance and the redemption is yours.
Buy it for yourself."
Then I knew that this was the word of the Lord.
9 I bought the field of Hanamel my uncle's son, that was in Anathoth,
and weighed him the money, even seventeen shekels
[About 7 ounces, or 200 grams.] of silver.
10 (Jer 32:44; 32:12; Dt 32:34) I signed and sealed the deed, and summoned
witnesses, and weighed the money from him in the balances.
11 (Lk 2:27) So I took the deed of purchase, both that which was sealed
according to the law and custom, and that which was open.
12J (Jer 32:16; 51:59) And I gave the deed of purchase to Baruch
the son of Neriah, the son of Mahseiah, in the sight of Hanamel
my uncle's son, and in the presence of the witnesses
who signed the deed of purchase, before all the Jews
who sat in the court of the prison.
13 I charged Baruch in their presence, saying,
14 Thus says the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel: Take these deeds,
this sealed deed of purchase and this deed which is open, and put them
in an earthen vessel that they may last many days.
15 (Jer 30:18; 32:43-44) For thus says the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel:
Houses and fields and vineyards shall be possessed again in this land.
Jeremiah Prays for Understanding
16 (Ge 32:9-12; Jer 12:1) Now when I had delivered the deed of purchase
to Baruch the son of Neriah, I prayed to the Lord, saying:
17 (Ge 18:14; 2Ki 19:15) Ah Lord God! Truly, You have made the heavens
and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm,
and there is nothing too hard for You.
18 (Jer 10:16; Ex 34:7) You show lovingkindness to thousands,
and recompense the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom
of their children after them, O great and mighty God.
The Lord of Hosts is His name,
19 (Isa 28:29; Jer 17:10) great in counsel and mighty in deed,
whose eyes are open to all the ways of the sons of men,
to give to everyone according to his ways
and according to the fruit of his deeds.
20 (Ne 9:10; Ex 9:16) You have set signs and wonders in the land of Egypt,
even to this day, and in Israel, and among other men, and have made Yourself
a name, as it is today.
21 (Ex 6:6; Dt 26:8) And You have brought your people Israel out of the land
of Egypt with signs, and with wonders, and with a strong hand,
and with a stretched-out arm, and with great terror.
22 (Ex 3:8; 13:5) And You have given them this land, which You swore
to their fathers to give them, a land flowing with milk and honey.
23 (Ezr 9:7; Ps 78:54-55) And they entered and possessed it.
But they did not obey Your voice or walk in Your law.
They have done nothing of all that You commanded them to do;
therefore You have caused all this calamity to come upon them.
24 (Dt 4:26; Jos 23:15-16) See, the siege ramps have come to the city
to take it. And the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans
who fight against it, because of the sword, and of the famine,
and of the pestilence, and what You have spoken has come to pass,
as You can see.
25 (Jer 32:24) O Lord God, You have said to me,
"Buy the field for money and call in witnesses,"
although the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.
God Promises the People's Return
26 Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying:
27 (Nu 16:22; 27:16) Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh.
Is anything too hard for Me?
28 (Jer 32:3; 19:7-12) Therefore thus says the Lord: I will give this city
into the hand of the Chaldeans and into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar
king of Babylon, and he shall take it.
29 (Jer 19:13; 21:10) And the Chaldeans who fight against this city
will come and set this city on fire and burn it with the houses,
upon whose roofs they have offered incense to Baal
and poured out drink offerings to other gods, to provoke Me to anger.
30 (Dt 9:7-12; Isa 63:10) Indeed the sons of Israel and the sons of Judah
have only done evil before Me from their youth.
For the sons of Israel have only provoked Me to anger with the work
of their hands, says the Lord.
31 (2Ki 23:27; 1Ki 11:7-8) Indeed this city has been to Me a provocation
of My anger and My fury from the day that they built it, even to this day,
so that I should remove it from before My face,
32 (Isa 1:4-6; Jer 2:26) because of all the evil of the sons of Israel
and of the sons of Judah which they have done to provoke Me to anger,
they, their kings, their officials, their priests, and their prophets,
and the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
33 (Jer 2:27; 7:13) They have turned their back to Me and not their face.
Though I taught them, rising up early and teaching them, yet they have
not listened nor received instruction.
34 (Jer 7:30; 2Ki 21:4-7) But they set their abominations in the house
which is called by My name, to defile it.
35 (Jer 7:31; Lev 18:21; 20:2-5) They built the high places of Baal
which are in the Valley of Ben Hinnom to cause their sons and their daughters
to pass through the fire to Molek, which I had not commanded them,
nor did it come into My mind that they should do this abomination,
to cause Judah to sin.
36 (Jer 32:24; 32:3) Now therefore, thus says the Lord, the God of Israel,
concerning this city of which you say, "It shall be delivered
into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, and by famine,
and by pestilence":
37(Jer 23:3; 23:6) See, I will gather them out of all countries wherever
I have driven them in My anger, and in My fury, and in great wrath;
and I will bring them again to this place,
and I will cause them to dwell safely.
38 (Jer 24:7; 30:22) And they shall be My people, and I will be their God.
39 (Dt 11:18-21; 2Ch 30:12) And I will give them one heart and one way,
that they may fear Me forever, for their good and for their children
after them.
40 (Isa 55:3; Jer 50:5) And I will make an everlasting covenant with them
that I will not turn away from them, to do them good. But I will put My fear
in their hearts so that they shall not depart from Me.
41 (Jer 24:6; Dt 30:9) Indeed, I will rejoice over them to do them good,
and I will plant them in this land assuredly with My whole heart
and with My whole soul.
42 (Jer 31:28; Zec 8:14-15) For thus says the Lord: Just as I have brought
all this great calamity upon this people, so I will bring upon them
all the good that I have promised them.
43 (Jer 32:15; Eze 37:11-14) Fields will be bought in this land of which you
say, It is desolate, without man or beast. It is given
into the hand of the Chaldeans.
44 (Jer 17:26; 33:7) Men will buy fields for money, sign and seal deeds,
and call in witnesses in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about
Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, and in the cities of the mountains,
and in the cities of the valley, and in the cities of the Negev;
for I will restore their fortunes, says the Lord.
Jeremiah 32
[1] The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD in the tenth year of
Zedekiah king of Judah, which was the eighteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar.
[2] For then the king of Babylon's army besieged Jerusalem: and Jeremiah the
prophet was shut up in the court of the prison, which was in the king of
Judah's house.
[3] For Zedekiah king of Judah had shut him up, saying, Wherefore dost thou
prophesy, and say, Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will give this city into
the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall take it;
[4] And Zedekiah king of Judah shall not escape out of the hand of the
Chaldeans, but shall surely be delivered into the hand of the king of
Babylon, and shall speak with him mouth to mouth, and his eyes shall behold
his eyes;
[5] And he shall lead Zedekiah to Babylon, and there shall he be until I
visit him, saith the LORD: though ye fight with the Chaldeans, ye shall not
prosper?
[6] And Jeremiah said, The word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
[7] Behold, Hanameel the son of Shallum thine uncle shall come unto thee,
saying, Buy thee my field that is in Anathoth: for the right of redemption
is thine to buy it.
[8] So Hanameel mine uncle's son came to me in the court of the prison
according to the word of the LORD, and said unto me, Buy my field, I pray
thee, that is in Anathoth, which is in the country of Benjamin: for the
right of inheritance is thine, and the redemption is thine; buy it for
thyself. Then I knew that this was the word of the LORD.
[9] And I bought the field of Hanameel my uncle's son, that was in Anathoth,
and weighed him the money, even seventeen shekels of silver.
[10] And I subscribed the evidence, and sealed it, and took witnesses, and
weighed him the money in the balances.
[11] So I took the evidence of the purchase, both that which was sealed
according to the law and custom, and that which was open:
[12] And I gave the evidence of the purchase unto Baruch the son of Neriah,
the son of Maaseiah, in the sight of Hanameel mine uncle's son, and in the
presence of the witnesses that subscribed the book of the purchase, before
all the Jews that sat in the court of the prison.
[13] And I charged Baruch before them, saying,
[14] Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Take these evidences,
this evidence of the purchase, both which is sealed, and this evidence which
is open; and put them in an earthen vessel, that they may continue many days.
[15] For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Houses and fields
and vineyards shall be possessed again in this land.
[16] Now when I had delivered the evidence of the purchase unto Baruch the
son of Neriah, I prayed unto the LORD, saying,
[17] Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy
great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:
[18] Thou shewest lovingkindness unto thousands, and recompensest the
iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them: the
Great, the Mighty God, the LORD of hosts, is his name,

the sword, and of the famine, and of the pestilence: and what thou hast
spoken is come to pass; and, behold, thou seest it.
[25] And thou hast said unto me, O Lord GOD, Buy thee the field for money,
and take witnesses; for the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.
[26] Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah, saying,
[27] Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too
hard for me?
[28] Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will give this city into the
hand of the Chaldeans, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon,
and he shall take it:
[29] And the Chaldeans, that fight against this city, shall come and set
fire on this city, and burn it with the houses, upon whose roofs they have

and take witnesses in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about
Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, and in the cities of the mountains,
and in the cities of the valley, and in the cities of the south: for I will
cause their captivity to return, saith the LORD.
Jeremiah 33
The Promise of Restoration
1 (Jer 37:21; 38:28) Moreover the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah
the second time, while he was yet shut up in the court of the prison,
saying:
2 (Ex 6:3; 15:3) Thus says the Lord, the Maker of the earth, the Lord
who formed it to establish it; the Lord is His name:
3 (Jer 29:12; Ps 91:15) Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you
great and mighty things which you do not know.
4 (Jer 32:24; Eze 4:2) For thus says the Lord God of Israel concerning
the houses of this city, and concerning the houses of the kings of Judah,
which are thrown down to make a defense against the siege mounds
and against the sword:
5 (Isa 8:17; Jer 21:4-7) They come to fight with the Chaldeans, but it is
to fill them with the dead bodies of men whom I have slain in My anger
and in My fury, all for whose wickedness I have hidden My face from this city.
6 (Isa 30:26; 66:12) I will bring it health and healing, and I will heal them;
and I will reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth.
7 (Isa 1:26; Jer 30:3) I will restore the fortunes of Judah and the fortunes
of Israel, and will build them as at the first.
8 (Ps 51:2; Jer 31:34) I will cleanse them from all their iniquity whereby
they have sinned against Me. And I will pardon all their iniquities whereby
they have sinned and whereby they have transgressed against Me.
9 (Jer 13:11; Isa 60:5) It will be to Me a name of joy, praise,
and honor before all the nations of the earth which shall hear of all the good
that I do to them; and they will fear and tremble for all the goodness and for
all the prosperity that I procure for it.
10 (Jer 32:43) Thus says the Lord: Again there shall be heard in this place
of which you say, "It is desolate, without man and without beast,"
even in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem,
that are desolate, without man and without inhabitant, and without beast,
11 (1Ch 16:34; 16:8) the voice of joy, and the voice of gladness,
the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the voice of those
who shall say,
"Give thanks to the Lord of Hosts,
for the Lord is good;
for His mercy endures forever,"
and of those who bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the Lord.
For I will restore the fortunes of the land as at the first, says the Lord.
12 (Isa 65:10; Jer 31:24) Thus says the Lord of Hosts: Again in this place
which is desolate, without man and without beast, and in all the cities,
will be a habitation of shepherds causing their flocks to lie down.
13 (Lev 27:32; Jer 17:26) In the cities of the mountains, in the cities
of the vale, and in the cities of the Negev, and in the land of Benjamin,
and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah,
shall the flocks pass again under the hands of him who numbers them,
says the Lord.
The Davidic Covenant
14 (Jer 29:10; 23:5) Surely, the days are coming, says the Lord, when
I will perform that good word which I have promised to the house of Israel
and to the house of Judah:
15 (Isa 4:2; 11:1-5) In those days and at that time,
I will cause a righteous Branch to spring up for David;
and he shall execute justice and righteousness in the earth.
16 (Jer 23:6; Isa 45:17; 1Co 1:30) In those days Judah will be saved,
and Jerusalem will dwell safely.
And this is the name by which she will be called:
THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.
17 (1Ki 2:4; Ps 89:29-37) For thus says the Lord: David shall never lack
a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel;
18 nor shall the Levitical priests lack a man before Me to offer burnt
offerings, to kindle grain offerings, and to sacrifice continually.
19 The word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying:
20 (Ge 8:22; Ps 89:37) Thus says the Lord: If you can break
My covenant of the day and My covenant of the night so that there
should not be day and night in their season,
21 (2Ch 7:18; Ps 89:34) then also My covenant may be broken
with David My servant, that he should not have a son to reign on his throne,
and with the Levitical priests, My ministers.
22 (Ge 15:5; 22:17) As the host of heaven cannot be numbered
nor the sand of the sea measured, so I will multiply the seed of David
My servant and the Levites that minister to Me.
23 Moreover the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying:
24 (Ne 4:2-4; Ps 44:13-14) Have you not considered what this people
have spoken, saying, "The two families which the Lord has chosen,
He has cast them off"? Thus they have despised My people, that they should be
no more a nation before them.
25 (Ps 74:16-17; Jer 31:35-36) Thus says the Lord: If My covenant for day
and night does not stand, and if I have not appointed the ordinances
of heaven and earth,
26 (Isa 14:1; Jer 31:37) then I would cast away the seed of Jacob
and David My servant, so that I would not take any of his seed to be rulers
over the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Yet I will restore their fortunes
and have mercy on them.
Jeremiah 33

Jeremiah 34
Zedekiah to Die in Exile
1 (Jer 1:15; 32:2) The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord
when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and all his army
and all the kingdoms of the earth of his dominion
and all the people fought against Jerusalem and against all the cities,
saying:
2 (Jer 21:10; 34:22) Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: Go and speak
to Zedekiah king of Judah and tell him: Thus says the Lord: I will give
this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he will burn it with fire.
3 (Jer 32:4; 21:7) And you will not escape out of his hand, but will surely
be taken and delivered into his hand. And you will see the king of Babylon
eye to eye, and he will speak with you face to face,
and you will go to Babylon.
4 Yet hear the word of the Lord, O Zedekiah king of Judah!
Thus says the Lord concerning you: You will not die by the sword.
5 (2Ch 16:14; Jer 22:18) But you will die in peace; and as spices
were burned for your fathers, the former kings who were before you,
so they burn spices for you. And they will lament for you, saying,
"Alas, lord!" For I have pronounced the word, says the Lord.
6 (1Sa 3:18; 15:16-24) Then Jeremiah the prophet spoke all these words
to Zedekiah king of Judah in Jerusalem,
7 (Jos 10:3; 15:35) when the king of Babylon's army fought against Jerusalem,
and against all the cities of Judah that were left,
against Lachish and Azekah,
for these fortified cities remained of the cities of Judah.
Slaves to be Free
8 (Lev 25:10; 2Ki 11:17) This is the word that came to Jeremiah
from the Lord after the king Zedekiah had made a covenant with all the people
who were in Jerusalem to proclaim liberty to them:
9 (Ge 14:13; Ex 2:6) that every man should let his male slave and every man
his female slave, being a Hebrew man or a Hebrew woman, go free so that
no one should keep them, a Jew his brother, in bondage.
10 (Jer 26:10; 26:16) Now when all the officials and all the people who had
entered into the covenant heard that everyone should let his male slave
and everyone his female slave go free, so that no one should keep them
any more in bondage, then they obeyed and let them go.
11 But afterward they turned around and caused the male slaves
and the female slaves whom they had set free to return, and brought
them into subjection for male slaves and female slaves.
12 Therefore the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying:
13 (Jos 24:17; Jdg 6:8) Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: I made
a covenant with your fathers in the day that I brought them out of the land
of Egypt, out of the house of bondage, saying:
14 (Dt 15:12; 1Sa 8:7-8) "At the end of seven years, each of you shall set
free his Hebrew brother who has been sold to you; and when he has served
you six years, you shall let him go free from you." But your fathers did not
obey Me nor incline their ear.
15 (Jer 34:8; 2Ki 23:3; Ne 10:29) You recently turned and did what was right
in My sight by proclaiming liberty, every man to his neighbour; and you made
a covenant before Me in the house that is called by My name.
16 (Lev 19:12; Ex 20:7) But then you turned around and profaned My name
when every one of you took back his male and female slaves,
whom you had set free, at their pleasure, and you brought them
into subjection to be your slaves.
17 (Mt 7:2; Dt 28:25) Therefore thus says the Lord: You have not obeyed Me
in proclaiming liberty, everyone to his brother and every man
to his neighbor. I proclaim a liberty to you, says the Lord, to the sword,
to the pestilence, and to the famine; and I will make you a terror to all
the kingdoms of the earth.
18 (Ge 15:10; Dt 17:2) I will give the men who have transgressed My covenant,
who have not performed the words of the covenant which they had made
before Me, when they cut the calf in two and passed between the parts,
19 (Zep 3:3-4; Jer 29:2) the officials of Judah
and the officials of Jerusalem,
the court officers, and the priests, and all the people of the land,
who passed between the parts of the calf,
20 (Jer 7:33; 11:21) I will even give them into the hand of their enemies
and into the hand of those who seek their life; and their dead bodies
shall be food to the fowl of heaven and to the beasts of the earth.
21 (Jer 39:6; 52:24-27) Zedekiah king of Judah and his officials I will give
into the hand of their enemies and into the hand of those who seek
their life and into the hand of the king of Babylon's army,
which has gone away from you.
22 (Jer 9:11; 39:1-2) I will command, says the Lord, and cause them
to return to this city, and they will fight against it and take it
and burn it with fire; and I will make the cities of Judah a desolation
without an inhabitant.

[5] But thou shalt die in peace: and with the burnings of thy fathers, the

[6] Then Jeremiah the prophet spake all these words unto Zedekiah king of
Judah in Jerusalem,
[7] When the king of Babylon's army fought against Jerusalem, and against
all the cities of Judah that were left, against Lachish, and against Azekah:
for these defenced cities remained of the cities of Judah.

king Zedekiah had made a covenant with all the people which were at
Jerusalem, to proclaim liberty unto them;
[9] That every man should let his manservant, and every man his maidservant,
being an Hebrew or an Hebrewess, go free; that none should serve himself of
them, to wit, of a Jew his brother.
[10] Now when all the princes, and all the people, which had entered into
the covenant, heard that every one should let his manservant, and every one
his maidservant, go free, that none should serve themselves of them any
more, then they obeyed, and let them go.
[11] But afterward they turned, and caused the servants and the handmaids,
whom they had let go free, to return, and brought them into subjection for
servants and for handmaids.
[12] Therefore the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,

fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, out
of the house of bondmen, saying,

sword, to the pestilence, and to the famine; and I will make you to be
removed into all the kingdoms of the earth.
[18] And I will give the men that have transgressed my covenant, which have
not performed the words of the covenant which they had made before me, when
they cut the calf in twain, and passed between the parts thereof,
[19] The princes of Judah, and the princes of Jerusalem, the eunuchs, and
the priests, and all the people of the land, which passed between the parts
of the calf;
[20] I will even give them into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand
of them that seek their life: and their dead bodies shall be for meat unto
the fowls of the heaven, and to the beasts of the earth.
[21] And Zedekiah king of Judah and his princes will I give into the hand of
their enemies, and into the hand of them that seek their life, and into the
hand of the king of Babylon's army, which are gone up from you.
[22] Behold, I will command, saith the LORD, and cause them to return to
this city; and they shall fight against it, and take it, and burn it with

Genesis 40:8-15;20-23
8 And they said to him, "We have dreamed a dream,
and there is no interpreter for it."
Then Joseph said to them, "Do not interpretations belong to God?
Please tell them to me."
9 The chief cupbearer told his dream to Joseph and said to him,
"In my dream, a vine was in front of me.
10 And in the vine there were three branches. As it budded,
its blossoms shot forth and its clusters brought forth ripe grapes.
11 Pharaoh's cup was in my hand, and I took the grapes,
and pressed them into Pharaoh's cup, and I put the cup into Pharaoh's hand."
12 Joseph said to him, "This is the interpretation of it. The three branches
are three days.
13 Within three days Pharaoh will lift up your head
and restore you to your place, and you will deliver Pharaoh's cup
into his hand in the same way you did before when you were his cupbearer.
14 But remember me when it is well with you, and show kindness,
I pray you, to me, and make mention of me to Pharaoh,
and get me out of this house.
15 For I was indeed kidnapped
out of the land of the Hebrews, and I have done nothing
that they should put me in the dungeon."
20 It happened on the third day, which was Pharaoh's birthday,
that he made a feast for all his servants. He lifted up the heads
of the chief cupbearer and the chief baker among his servants.
21 He restored the chief cupbearer to his position again,
and he put the cup into Pharaoh's hand.
22 However, he hanged the chief baker,
just as Joseph had interpreted to them.
23 Yet, the chief cupbearer did not remember Joseph, but forgot him.
[8] And they said unto him, We have dreamed a dream, and there is no

When you listen to their stories, it becomes clear that perhaps the most
difficult part of being a prisoner is isolation and loneliness. In fact, one
study revealed that regardless of the length of their incarceration, most
prisoners receive only two visits from friends or loved ones during their
time behind bars. Loneliness is a constant reality.
It's a pain I imagine Joseph felt as he sat in prison, unjustly accused of a
crime. There had been a glimmer of hope. God helped Joseph correctly interpret
a dream from a fellow inmate who happened to be a trusted servant of Pharaoh.
Joseph told the man he would be restored to his position and asked the man to
mention him to Pharaoh so Joseph could gain his freedom (Genesis 40:14). But
the man "did not remember Joseph; he forgot him" (v. 23). For two more years,
Joseph waited. In those years of waiting, without any sign that his
circumstances would change, Joseph was never completely alone because God was
with him. Eventually, the servant of Pharaoh remembered his promise
and Joseph was released after correctly interpreting another dream (41:9-14).
Regardless of circumstances that make us feel we've been forgotten, and the
feelings of loneliness that creep in, we can cling to God's reassuring
promise to His children: "I will not forget you!" (Isaiah 49:15).

Some 50 years ago, Orson Welles's radio broadcast of The War of the Worlds
threw the nation into panic; people on the East Coast ran for their lives,
expecting at any moment to be destroyed by alien invaders from outer space.
Today, of course, we are more sophisticated about such matters.
Television and movies have educated us about alien life forms.
Star Wars and Star Trek have taught us that their appearance can be much
different than ours. Sometimes they are unable to exist in our atmosphere
with artificial life-support systems; their physical makeup is often
incompatible with our environment.
God says that we, apart from Christ, are as incompatible with his kingdom
as the 'aliens' of movies are with Earth's environment.
We are at war with God, a true "war of the worlds" that staggers
the imagination.
Yet God has 'reconciled' us to his world. He has made us fit,
made us able to exist in his kingdom. He has made us part of
his world through Christ's death and resurrection.
Now, through Christ, we are 'holy' and 'without blemish' in God's sight.
And that transformation, ironically, make us 'alien' in the world around us.
No longer do we fit in a world of selfishness and greed, a world where Self
is god and everyone does what is right in his own heart.
We belong, instead, in the kingdom of God's righteousness.

Moncton, followed by Fredericton and Saint John, each have a growing Muslim
population in New Brunswick, In 2007, the building that was formerly a Baptist
church was converted into Moncton's 1st mosque. The University of Moncton
also has a Muslim student association hosting prayer services, fellowship
getherings, and outreaches on campus.
Fredericton also has one mosque and a Muslim student association serving the
campuses of the University of New Brunswick and St. Thomas University.
Fredericton's Muslim population consists in 2014 of about 50 families,
and between 300 to 400 university students.
Saint John is home to the 1st Muslim Association for the province,
which also helped foster the Islamic associations of Fredericton and Moncton.
a 'musalla', or prayer location that is not officially structured as a mosque,
has been established in the Uptown area with the intention of seeing it grow
into a 2nd official place of Muslim worship. Demand for this new location has
been primarily for university students moving into the area.
Pray for Muslims and New Brunswick
- that the eyes of pastors, believers and entire congregations will be opened
to see this growing body of Muslims, and their hearts will be opened
to sharing God's love in Jesus Christ with them
- that intentional ministries to Muslims will grow and flourish in these
areas of concentration
- that cooperative CNNMM Networks will form to really, encourage,
and equip believers to lovingly reach Muslims in this province.

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.
For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.
You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"
Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you
know, and Muslims around the world:
- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.
Acts 2:12-17 : 17 12 They were all amazed and perplexed, saying to each other,
"What does this mean?"
13 (1Co 14:23) Others mocking said, "These men are full of new wine."
Peter's Speech at Pentecost
14 (Ac 1:26) But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice

hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do men light a candle and put it under
a basket, but on a candlestick. And it gives light to all who are in the
house."
Ideas for prayer
- Pray for opportunities to show the love of Christ to Muslims around you
- Pray for, and offer generous hospitality to, those you know who are serving
Christ among Muslim people -
Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."
