Day 358 of the 2nd Bible Study Journey 28th Day of Advent - 24 December 2022 reflections
Day 357, 24 December 2022
1) Jude Revelation 1,2
Jude
The general epistle of Jude was written by Jude, a half-brother
of Jesus Christ, in the mid AD 60s. The place of authorship is unknown.
The purpose for this epistle is to exhort believers to stand firm for
the faith. Jude is filled with apocalyptic nuances and imagery.
A reading of the Old Testament is a prerequisite before delving
into this lofty letter. There are some very encouraging exhortations
as well as some sobering ones. Read this epistle with reverence
and a humble heart. Refer back to the Old Testament Scriptures
that are enveloped within its confines.
Salutation
1 Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and a brother of James,
To those who are sanctified and called by God the Father
and preserved in Jesus Christ:
2 May mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you.
[1] Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that
are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called:
[2] Mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be multiplied.
Judgment on False Teachers
2Pe 2:1-17
3 Beloved, while I diligently tried to write to you of the salvation
we have in common, I found it necessary to write and appeal
to you to contend for the faith which was once delivered to the saints.
4 For there are some men who secretly crept in, who were marked long ago
for this condemnation. They are ungodly men, who pervert the grace of our God
into immorality and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ.
5 Now I want to remind you, though you already know, that the Lord saved
the people out of the land of Egypt and afterward destroyed those
who did not believe.
6 Likewise, the angels who did not keep to their first domain, but forsook
their own dwelling, He has kept in everlasting chains under darkness
for the judgment of the great day.
7 Just as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the surrounding cities in like manner,
gave themselves to immorality and went after different flesh, they serve
as an example by suffering the punishment of eternal fire.
8 Likewise, these ungodly dreamers defile the flesh, reject authority,
and slander celestial beings.
9 Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil in a dispute
about the body of Moses, did not dare to pronounce upon him
a railing judgment. But he said, "The Lord rebuke you!"
10 But these men slander those things that they do not understand.
But they destroy themselves in those things that, like unreasoning animals,
they know by instinct.
11 Woe to them! For they have gone in the way of Cain, have run greedily after
the error of Balaam for a reward, and perished in the rebellion of Korah.
12 These are the ones who are stains on your love feasts as they feast with
you irreverently and care only for themselves. They are clouds without water,
carried along by winds; autumn trees without fruit, twice dead, uprooted;
13 raging waves of the sea, which are foaming up their own shame;
wandering stars for whom the gloom of darkness has been kept forever.
14 Enoch, the seventh generation from Adam, also prophesied of these men,
saying, "Look! The Lord is coming with ten thousand of His holy ones,
15 to execute judgment on everyone, and to convict all who are godless
of all their wicked deeds that they have committed, and of all the terrible
words that godless sinners have spoken against Him."
16 These men are grumblers, complainers, who walk after their own lusts.
Their mouths speak arrogant words, and they flatter others to gain profit.
[3] Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common
salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye
should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the
saints.
[4] For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old
ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God
into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus
Christ.
[5] I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how
that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward
destroyed them that believed not.
[6] And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own
habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the
judgment of the great day.
[7] Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner,
giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are
set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
[8] Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion,
and speak evil of dignities.
[9] Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed
about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation,
but said, The Lord rebuke thee.
[10] But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they
know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves.
[11] Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily
after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of
Core.
[12] These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you,
feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried
about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead,
plucked up by the roots;
[13] Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars,
to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.
[14] And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying,
Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,
[15] To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly
among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and
of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.
[16] These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and
their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men's persons in
admiration because of advantage.
Warnings and Exhortations
17 But, beloved, remember the words that were previously spoken
by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ.
18 They said to you, "In the last days there will be scoffers
who will walk after their own ungodly desires."
19 These are the men who cause divisions, sensual, devoid of the Spirit.
20 But you, beloved, build yourselves up in your most holy faith.
Pray in the Holy Spirit.
21 Keep yourselves in the love of God while you are waiting for the mercy
of our Lord Jesus Christ, which leads to eternal life.
22 On some have compassion, using discernment.
23 And others save with fear while pulling them out of the fire,
hating even the garment stained by the flesh.
[17] But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the
apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;
[18] How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who
should walk after their own ungodly lusts.
[19] These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.
[20] But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith,
praying in the Holy Ghost,
[21] Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord
Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
[22] And of some have compassion, making a difference:
[23] And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even
the garment spotted by the flesh.
Benediction
24 Now to Him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you
blameless before the presence of His glory with rejoicing,
25 to the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty,
dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen.
[24] Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you
faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
[25] To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and
power, both now and ever. Amen.
Revelation 1
Introduction and Salutation
1 (Rev 22:6; 22:16; Jn 8:26) The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave
to Him to show to His servants things which must soon take place. He sent
and signified it by His angel to His servant John,
2 (Rev 12:17; 1Co 1:6; Rev 6:9) who bears record of the word of God,
and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.
3 (Lk 11:28; Ro 13:11) Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words
of this prophecy and keep those things which are written in it,
for the time is near.
4 (Rev 3:1; 4:5; 5:6) John,
To the seven churches which are in Asia:
Grace to you and peace from Him who is and who was
and who is to come and from the seven Spirits who are before His throne,
5 (Rev 3:14; 17:14) and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness,
the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth.
To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood,
6 (Rev 5:10; 20:6) and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father,
to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
7 (Da 7:13; Zec 12:10) Look! He is coming with clouds,
and every eye will see Him,
even those who pierced Him.
And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him.
Even so, Amen.
8 (Rev 21:6; 22:13; Isa 41:4) "I am the Alpha and the Omega,
the Beginning and the End," says the Lord,
"who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty."
[1] The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto
his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and
signified it by his angel unto his servant John:
[2] Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus
Christ, and of all things that he saw.
[3] Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this
prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is
at hand.
[4] John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and
peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the
seven Spirits which are before his throne;
[5] And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first
begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him
that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
[6] And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be
glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
[7] Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they
also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of
him. Even so, Amen.
[8] I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord,
which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
A Vision of Christ
9 (Php 4:14; Rev 1:2) I, John, both your brother and companion
in the tribulation and kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ,
was on the isle that is called Patmos on account of the word of God
and the testimony of Jesus Christ.
10 (Ac 20:7; Rev 4:1-2) I was in the Spirit on the Lord's Day,
and I heard behind me a great voice like a trumpet,
(This must mean an out of body Divine appointment with the Lord )
11 (Rev 1:4; 3:1) saying, "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First
and the Last," and "What you see, write in a book, and send it
to the seven churches which are in Asia:
to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea."
(The order is important)
12 (Ex 25:37; Zec 4:2) I turned to see the voice that spoke with me.
And when I turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks,
13 (Da 7:13; 10:16) and in the midst of the seven candlesticks
was one like a Son of Man, clothed with a garment down to the feet
and with a golden sash wrapped around the chest.
14 (Da 7:9; 10:6; Rev 19:12) The hair on His head was white like wool,
as white as snow. His eyes were like a flame of fire.
15 (Eze 43:2; Da 10:6) His feet were like fine brass, as if refined
in a furnace, and His voice as the sound of many waters.
16 (Isa 49:2; Heb 4:12) He had in His right hand seven stars,
and out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword.
His appearance was like the sun shining brightly.
17 (Isa 44:6; Rev 22:13; Isa 41:4) When I saw Him, I fell at His feet
as though I were dead. Then He laid His right hand on me, saying to me,
"Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last.
[9] I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in
the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called
Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.
[10] I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great
voice, as of a trumpet,
[11] Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou
seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in
Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira,
and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.
[12] And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I
saw seven golden candlesticks;
[13] And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of
man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a
golden girdle.
[14] His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his
eyes were as a flame of fire;
[15] And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and
his voice as the sound of many waters.
[16] And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a
sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his
strength.
[17] And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right
hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:
18 (Ro 6:9; Heb 7:25) I am He who lives, though I was dead. Look! I am alive
forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.
[18] I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for
evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
(This is Jesus Christ talking)
19 "Write the things which you have seen, and the things which are,
and the things which will take place after this.
[19] Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and
the things which shall be hereafter;
( Jesus says will take place after this. Jesus transcends time)
20 (Rev 2:1; Zec 4:2) The mystery of the seven stars which you saw
in My right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks:
The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches,
and the seven candlesticks which you saw are the seven churches.
[20] The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and
the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven
churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven
churches.
( The order is important as it reflects Church History from
1st Century AD to the point of the Rapture of the Church)
Revelation 2
The Message to Ephesus
1 (Rev 1:16; 1:11-13) "To the angel of the church of Ephesus write:
"He who holds the seven stars in His right hand, who walks in the midst
of the seven golden candlesticks, says these things:
2 (1Jn 4:1; Rev 3:1; 3:8) I know your works, your labour and your patience,
and that you cannot bear those who are evil. And you have tested those who
say they are apostles, but are not, and have found them to be liars.
3 (Jn 15:21) You have endured, and have been patient,
and for My name's sake have laboured and have not grown weary.
4 "But I have something against you, that you have abandoned the love
you had at first.
5 (Rev 2:16; 3:19) Remember therefore from where you have fallen.
Repent, and do the works you did at first, or else I will come to you
quickly and remove your candlestick from its place, unless you repent.
6 But this you have: You hate the works of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.
7 (Rev 2:11; 2:17; Ge 2:9) "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit
says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give permission to eat
of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.
[1] Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he
that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of
the seven golden candlesticks;
[2] I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst
not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are
apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:
[3] And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured,
and hast not fainted.
[4] Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy
first love.
[5] Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the
first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy
candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.
[6] But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which
I also hate.
[7] He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the
churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life,
which is in the midst of the paradise of God.
(Remember the time you accepted Jesus Christ as Saviour?
Always relive that moment of love and do not lose that moment.
Imagine a Whole Church losing its first love?
Do not abandon the love you had at first)
The Message to Smyrna
8 (Rev 1:17-18; 1:11) "To the angel of the church in Smyrna write:
"The First and the Last, who was dead and came to life, says these things:
9 (Rev 3:9; 2Co 6:10; 8:9) I know your works and tribulation and poverty
(but you are rich). And I know the blasphemy of those who say they are Jews
and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.
(Beware the synagogue of Satan to this very day!)
10 (Mt 10:22; Jas 1:12) Do not fear any of those things which you are
about to suffer. Look, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison,
that you may be tried, and you will have tribulation for ten days.
Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.
11 (Rev 2:7; 20:6; 20:14) "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit
says to the churches. He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death.
[8] And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the
first and the last, which was dead, and is alive;
[9] I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and
I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are
the synagogue of Satan.
[10] Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil
shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have
tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a
crown of life.
[11] He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the
churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.
(Early evangelism that did succeed despite persecution of non-believers)
The Message to Pergamum
12 (Rev 1:16; 1:11) "To the angel of the church in Pergamum write:
"He who has the sharp two-edged sword says these things:
13 (Ac 22:20; 1Ti 5:8) I know your works and where you live, where Satan's
throne is. Yet you hold firmly to My name, and did not deny My faith even
in the days of Antipas, My faithful martyr, who was killed among you,
where Satan dwells.
14 (Rev 2:20; 2Pe 2:15; Nu 31:16) "But I have a few things against you:
You have there those who hold the teaching of Balaam,
who taught Balak to cast a stumbling block before the children of Israel,
to eat things sacrificed to idols and to commit sexual immorality.
15 (Rev 2:6) So you also have those who hold the teaching of the Nicolaitans.
16 (2Th 2:8; Rev 2:5) Repent, or else I will come to you quickly
and will war against them with the sword of My mouth.
17 (Rev 2:7; Isa 65:15) "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit
says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give the hidden manna
to eat. And I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name
written, which no one knows except he who receives it.
[12] And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he
which hath the sharp sword with two edges;
[13] I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan's seat is:
and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those
days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where
Satan dwelleth.
[14] But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that
hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock
before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to
commit fornication.
[15] So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which
thing I hate.
[16] Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against
them with the sword of my mouth.
[17] He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the
churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and
will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no
man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.
(Never let in false teachers IN as seen in 1,2,3 John and 1,2 Peter and Jude)
The Message to Thyatira
18 (Rev 1:11; 1:14-15) "To the angel of the church in Thyatira write:
"The Son of God, who has eyes like a flame of fire, and whose feet
are like fine brass, says these things:
19 I know your works, love, service, faith, and your patience,
and that your last works are more than the first.
20 (Rev 2:14; 1Ki 16:31; 2Ki 9:7) "But I have a few things against you:
You permit that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess,
to teach and seduce My servants to commit sexual immorality
and eat food sacrificed to idols.
21 (Ro 2:4-5; 2Pe 3:9) I gave her time to repent of her sexual immorality,
but she did not repent.
22 (Rev 17:2; 18:9) Look! I will throw her onto a sickbed, and those who
commit adultery with her into great tribulation,
unless they repent of their deeds.
23 (Ro 8:27; Ps 7:9) I will put her children to death, and all the churches
shall know that I am He who searches the hearts and minds.
I will give to each one of you according to your deeds.
24 (Ac 15:28) "Now to you I say, and to the rest in Thyatira,
as many as do not have this teaching, who have not known what
some call the 'depths of Satan,' I will put on you no other burden.
25 (Rev 3:11) But hold firmly what you have until I come.
26 (Rev 3:21; 2:7; 20:4) "To him who overcomes and keeps My works to the end,
I will give authority over the nations-
27 (Rev 12:5; 19:15) He 'shall rule them with a rod of iron;
like the vessels of a potter they shall be broken in pieces'(Ps 2:9.)-
even as I myself have received authority from My Father.
28 (Rev 22:16; 2Pe 1:19) And I will give him the morning star.
29 (Rev 2:7) He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says
to the churches.
[18] And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith
the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet
are like fine brass;
[19] I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy
patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first.
[20] Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou
sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach
and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things
sacrificed unto idols.
[21] And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented
not.
[22] Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with
her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.
[23] And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall
know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto
every one of you according to your works.
[24] But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not
this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak;
I will put upon you none other burden.
[25] But that which ye have already hold fast till I come.
[26] And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will
I give power over the nations:
[27] And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter
shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.
[28] And I will give him the morning star.

( This Church exists today. Thanks to Emperor Constantine at 4th Century,
The Church is the Modern Day Roman Catholic Church. The Idol and Mother-son
worship comes from Satanic Paganism!
From https://amazingdiscoveries.org/S-deception_end-time_paganism_Catholic_Mary
As we have already seen, Catholic customs stem from ancient pagan
practices and beliefs. Pagan priests were celibate, tonsured,
and received the power of sacrificing for the living and the dead.
The same power is given to
Roman Catholic priests.
Pagan celibate priests are dedicated to the mother goddess,
and Catholic priests to Mary the mediatrix.
{ Gaia comes to mind?}
Elevating Mary

In 1854, the Papacy declared Mary sinless, and in 1951,
they declared that she had ascended unto heaven, where she was crowned
as the
"Queen of heaven." {No human has that power!} This was called the
Assumption of Mary.
Since then, the complete system of Babylonian worship,
with Mary taking the role of the mediatrix,
has thus been established within Catholicism.
The goddess in ancient religions was worshiped as the life giver
and nurturer and, as such, this religion was full of sexual undertones.
Phallic symbols, as well as symbols of femininity and divine intercourse,
were common in ancient temples, as they are in modern temples,
particularly in India.
These symbols are equally common in Roman Catholic cathedrals.
The breasts of the goddess formed a prominent part of the goddess cult,
goddesses often being depicted with many breasts to nurture the world.
Even the sun god was depicted nurturing at the goddess' breast.
Catholicism carries the same mythology. Take for example the
Magharet Sitti Mariam, or “Milk Grotto” as it is commonly known,
where Catholic tradition has it that Mary spilt milk from her breast
while feeding Jesus. This milk supposedly squirted onto the walls
of the cave and formed white markings. The grotto has become a shrine,
revered today as a place of pilgrimage for healing and fertility.
"The sinner that ventures directly to Christ may come with dread
and apprehension of his wrath; but let him only employ the mediation
of the Virgin with her Son and she has only to show that Son
the breasts that gave him suck and his wrath will immediately be appeased."
Pope John Paul II believed that Mary
intercedes for the faithful who honour her during mass:
"As they listen to the word proclaimed in the Sunday assembly,
the faithful look to the Virgin Mary...From Sunday to Sunday,
the pilgrim people follow in the footsteps of Mary,
and her maternal intercession gives special power
and fervour to the prayer which rises from the Church
to the Most Holy Trinity."

The pagan system of sun worship had three main aspects: the father, mother,
and the son. In ancient Chaldean times, these were the god Bel or Merodach,
Ninus the son who was also worshiped as Tammuz, and the female goddess Rhea
who was also worshiped as Ishtar, Astarte, or Beltis. She was also referred
to as the “queen of heaven,” and the “wrath subduer.”
Mary has received these same names in Catholicism.

Mother and child worship was the basis of the ancient religions.
In the various religions of the world, the same system of worship
was perpetuated under different names.
In Egypt , the mother and child were worshiped as Isis and Osiris or Horus,
in India as Isi and Iswara, in China and Japan as the mother goddess
Shing-moo with child, in Greece as Ceres or Irene and Plutus,
in Rome as Fortuna and Jupitor-puer, or Venus and Adurnis,
and in Scandinavia as Frigga and Balder. The mother and child
were worshiped in Babylon as Ishtar {And that is where
the word Easter comes from} and Tammuz,
and in Phoenicia, as Ashtoreth and Baal.
Moreover, the child was worshiped as both husband
and son of the mother goddess.
The male component is a counterfeit of Jesus Christ.
The Biblical names used for Jesus were also used for the child
in ancient religions. Zoroaster was referred to as the seed,
Mithra the Persian sun god was referred to as the Saviour,
Dionysus as the sin-bearer, Bacchus as the branch,
Vishna as the victim-man, and Osiris as the king of kings.
The Legend of Nimrod
The system of worship has its origin in the legend of Nimrod
and his wife Semiramus. Nimrod (the great-grandson of Noah)
rebelled against God, like his father Cush.
Eventually Nimrod was put to death for his evil deeds,
and according to the ancient patriarchal system,
parts of his body were sent to various cities as a warning.
His wife Semiramus fled, but spread the rumour that
he had ascended to heaven, where he had become one with the sun.
When Semiramus later gave birth to a son, she claimed that
it was the reincarnation of her deified husband,
and that he had returned to save the human race.
She was later deified as the mother of the sun god,
and it was supposed she had ascended into heaven
as the queen of heaven. In the various cultures
throughout history and around the world,
the same basic deities have been worshipped under different names.

Isaiah 55:6-13
6 (Ps 32:6; Isa 45:19 ) Seek the Lord while He may be found,
call you upon Him while He is near.
7 (Isa 44:22; Pr 28:13) Let the wicked forsake his way,
and the unrighteous man his thoughts;
and let him return to the Lord, and He will have mercy upon him,
and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.
8 For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
nor are your ways My ways,
says the Lord.
9 (Ps 103:11) For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are My ways higher than your ways,
and My thoughts than your thoughts.
10 (Isa 30:23) For as the rain comes down,
and the snow from heaven,
and do not return there
but water the earth
and make it bring forth and bud
that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater,
11 (Isa 45:23; 46:10) so shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
it shall not return to Me void,
but it shall accomplish that which I please,
and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
12 (Isa 44:23; Ps 105:43) For you shall go out with joy,
and be led out with peace;
the mountains and the hills
shall break forth into singing before you,
and all the trees of the field
shall clap their hands.
13 (Isa 41:19; 60:13) Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree,
and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree;
and it shall be to the Lord for a memorial,
for an everlasting sign
that shall not be cut off.
[6] Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
[7] Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts:
and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to
our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
[8] For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,
saith the LORD.
[9] For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than
your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
[10] For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth
not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that
it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:
[11] So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not
return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it
shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
[12] For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the
mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all
the trees of the field shall clap their hands.
[13] Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the
brier shall come up the myrtle tree: and it shall be to the LORD for a name,
for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.
On Christmas Eve 1968, the Apollo 8 astronauts-Frank Borman, Jim Lovell, and
Bill Anders-became the first humans to enter lunar orbit. As they circled the
moon ten times, they shared images of the moon and the Earth. During a live
broadcast, they took turns reading from Genesis 1. At the fortieth anniversary
celebration, Borman said, "We were told that on Christmas Eve we would have
the largest audience that had ever listened to a human voice. And the only
instructions that we got from NASA was to do something appropriate." The Bible
verses spoken by the Apollo 8 astronauts still plant seeds of truth into the
listening hearts of people who hear the historical recording.
Through the prophet Isaiah, God says, "Give ear and come to me; listen, that
you may live" (Isaiah 55:3). Revealing His free offer of salvation, He invites
us to turn from our sin and receive His mercy and forgiveness (vv. 6-7). He
declares the divine authority of His thoughts and His actions, which are too
vast for us to truly understand (vv. 8-9). Still, God gives us opportunity to
share His life-transforming words of Scripture, which point to Jesus, and
affirm that He is responsible for the spiritual growth of His people
(vv. 10-13).
The Holy Spirit helps us share the gospel as the Father fulfills all
His promises according to His perfect plan and pace.

Week 2 - Saved by Grace - Day 7 - Oh, Freedom!
Rom 8:1-2
Life in the Spirit
1 (1Co 1:30; 2Co 5:17) There is therefore now no condemnation
for those who are in Christ Jesus,
who walk not according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
2 (1Co 15:45; Ro 6:18; Jn 8:32) For the law of the Spirit of life
in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and death.
The Spirit of God Within You
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus,
who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free
from the law of sin and death.
In the classic movie, I want to live! actress Susan Hayward
plays a woman convicted of murder and sentenced to be executed.
The suspense builds; the execution is delayed as the officials
wait for a word of pardon. Finally, the woman in executed;
the call comes, and the pardon has been granted, but it is too late.
When no pardon is granted, condemnation leads to death. Our sin
marks us as "guilty" before God, and we deserve the wages of sin,
which is death. But in Jesus Christ, the pardon does come - and
it comes in time. Our sin deserves condemnation by God, and yet
he forgives us because Christ paid the penalty for us,
But we face other kinds of condemnation as well - self-condemnation,
that internal accusation that we still, somehow, must pay the price
of our own sin. Others often condemn us as well, offering much less
forgiveness and mercy than God does. And the Enemy of our souls condemns
us, trying to convince us that we don't, after all, have real freedom
from sin.
Yet Paul tells us in Romans 8, "There is therefore now no condemnation
for those who are in Christ Jesus". God has forgiven us freely; he has
granted his pardon. And in light of his forgiveness, how can we live
under the condemnation of others - or even of ourselves?
We are free, Paul says - free from the "law of sin and death,"
free to live in the liberty of the Spirit. The stay of execution
has come: the pardon has been granted. Never again can we tried
for the same crimes: never again must we live under the burden
of condemnation.
Application
a) Have I ever lived under the burden of condemnation from myself
or others? Why?
b) How can Romans 8:1-2 help me live in freedom of such condemnation?
4) From Prosperity Promises - Kenneth Copeland
Luke 16:10-12
10 (Mt 25:21; Lk 19:17) "He who is faithful in what is least is faithful
also in much. And he who is dishonest in the least is dishonest also
in much.
11 So if you have not been faithful in the unrighteous wealth,
who will commit to your trust the true riches?
12 And if you have not been faithful in that which is another man's,
who will give you that which is your own?"
10 He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much:
and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.
11 If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon,
who will commit to your trust the true riches?
12 And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's,
who shall give you that which is your own?

God's Reconciling Peace
Col 3:12-17
12 (Eph 4:2; Lk 1:78) So embrace, as the elect of God, holy and beloved,
a spirit of mercy, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, and longsuffering.
13 (Eph 4:32; Mk 11:25; Eph 4:2) Bear with one another
and forgive one another. If anyone has a quarrel against anyone,
even as Christ forgave you, so you must do.
14 (Eph 4:3; 1Co 13:1-13) And above all these things, embrace love,
which is the bond of perfection.
15 (Jn 14:27; Eph 5:20) Let the peace of God,
to which also you are called in one body,
rule in your hearts. And be thankful.
16 (Eph 5:19; Col 1:28; Ro 10:17 ) Let the word of Christ dwell
in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing
one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
17 (1Co 10:31; Eph 5:20 ) And whatever you do in word or deed,
do all in the name of the Lord Jesus,
giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies,
kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
13 forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have
a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
14 And above all these things put on charity,
which is the bond of perfectness.
15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye
are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom;
teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus,
giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

The Lord's prayer
Matthew 6:9-13
9 "Therefore pray in this manner:
Our Father who is in heaven,
hallowed be Your name.
10 (Mt 3:2; 4:17) Your kingdom come;
Your will be done
on earth, as it is in heaven.
11 (Pr 30:8; Isa 33:16) Give us this day our daily bread.
12 (Ex 34:7; Ps 32:1) And forgive us our debts,
as we forgive our debtors.
13 (1Co 10:13; Jn 17:15) And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."
9 After this manner therefore pray ye:
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Under the Keep Praying page
When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.
For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.
You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"
Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you
know, and Muslims around the world:
- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.
Acts 2:12-17 : 17 12 They were all amazed and perplexed, saying to each other,
"What does this mean?"
13 (1Co 14:23) Others mocking said, "These men are full of new wine."
Peter's Speech at Pentecost

15 For these are not drunk, as you suppose,
since it is the third hour of the day.
16 But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:
17 (Isa 44:3; Ac 10:45) 'In the last days it shall be,' says God,
'that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your young men shall see visions,
and your old men shall dream dreams.'
- Pray for Christian workers an organisations focused on seeing effective
discipleship movements among Muslim people.
- Ask the Holy Spirit to continue to inspire you to have god's heart for
Muslims, to see them as He does, and to be the light that then to Jesus.
Matthew 5:14-15 : 14 "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a
hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do men light a candle and put it under

house."
Ideas for prayer
- Pray for opportunities to show the love of Christ to Muslims around you
- Pray for, and offer generous hospitality to, those you know who are serving

Christmas Eve
From C.S. Lewis A Grand Miracle by Joel Heck
Friday, Fourth Week of Advent
"Charity-giving to the poor-is an essential part of Christian morality....I do not believe one can settle how much we ought to give. I am afraid the only safe rule is to give more than we can spare," - C. S. Lewis
(Read this and more in Mere Christianity, p. 86.)
Give Because God Gave
The best giving happened on the first Christmas, when God gave his Son. He gave out of love to a world in need of love, but deserving none of it. When John writes that "God is love" (1 John 4:8), he is saying that God is a giver, who thinks outside of himself, selflessly taking care of the needs of others. Mark wrote, "For even the Son of man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many" (Mark 10:45). That is true servanthood, suffering servanthood.
Financial guru and popular radio talk show host Dave Ramsey says that Christians are closer to the nature of God when they give. "God so loved the world that he gave," and we show our love for one another when we give. Our motivation comes from the Gospel, which is the story of God's giving his Son. "We love because he first loved us" (1 John 4:19). Loving and giving are bound together like two peas in a pod.
When we give, we often ask how much we should give. This is where Lewis helps us, saying bluntly that giving is essential Christian morality. While he admits that he can't specify how much we ought to give, he suggests that comfortable giving is not the rule. Uncomfortable giving is. That is, we should give more than we can spare. Then it is a sacrifice to give, and that's how God gave. Sacrificially.
Give me a heart, Lord, that gives as you gave. Amen.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.
John 3:16

CHRISTMAS EVE
Stratchy Straw
And she gave birth to her firstborn Son,
and wrapped Him in strips of cloth, and laid Him in a manger,
because there was no room for them in the inn.
-Luke 2:7
My favorite portrayal of Christ's birth took place in a congregation's
dramatisation of the event. A mentally handicapped child had been given
the part of the innkeeper because all he had to say was "No room!"
On Christmas Eve, he repeatedly shouted "No room!" as he had been
instructed, but when the couple turned away-she obviously expecting
soon-a tear splashed on the child's face, and abruptly he blurted,
"Wait! Come back! I'll find you a place."
We all want things to have been less complicated for Mary and her child.
Giving birth in a stable, with perhaps some strange attendants
(like an ox or a donkey, as some paintings of the Nativity depict),
couldn't have been easy, but perhaps this, too, should be understood
as part of the sufferings of Christ. A manger with abrasive hay must
not have been exceedingly comfortable. Chiefly, Christ gave up his home
with the Father to humble himself in becoming flesh.
As one pastor said in a sermon forty years ago,
"Imagine if the shoemaker would become a shoe!"
prayer
Jesus, we glorify your breathtaking condescension! Amen.
Read Luke 2:1-14.
Luke 2
The Birth of Jesus
Mt 1:18-25
1 (Lk 3:1; Mt 24:14) In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus
that the entire inhabited earth should be taxed.
2 (Lk 3:1) This taxation was first made when Quirinius was governor of Syria.
3 And everyone went to his own city to be taxed.
4 (Jn 7:42; 1Sa 16:1) So Joseph also departed from the city of Nazareth
in Galilee to the City of David which is called Bethlehem, in Judea,
because he was of the house and lineage of David,
5 to be taxed with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child.
6 So while they were there, the day came for her to give birth.
7 (Mt 1:25; Lk 2:11-12) And she gave birth to her firstborn Son,
and wrapped Him in strips of cloth, and laid Him in a manger,
because there was no room for them in the inn.
The Shepherds and the Angels
8 And in the same area there were shepherds living in the fields,
keeping watch over their flock by night.
9 (2Co 3:18) And then an angel of the Lord appeared to them,
and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were very afraid.
10 (Ge 12:3; Isa 40:9) But the angel said to them, "Listen! Do not fear.
For I bring you good news of great joy, which will be to all people.
11 (Mt 1:21; Lk 1:43; Mt 16:16) For unto you is born this day
in the City of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
12 (1Sa 2:34; 2Ki 19:29) And this will be a sign to you:
You will find the Baby wrapped in strips of cloth, lying in a manger."
13 (Ge 28:12; 32:1-2) Suddenly there was with the angel a company
of the heavenly host praising God and saying,
14 (Lk 1:79; 19:38) "Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace, and good will toward men."

FOURTH FRIDAY
AH-HA! Ambassadors of Health, Hope and ANGELS!
The angel said to them, "But the angel said to them, "Listen! Do not fear.
For I bring you good news of great joy, which will be to all people. " LUKE 2:10
The AH-HAs of angels are all around us--not just at Christmas, but always
Who has been an angel to you lately? Who has brought you the good
news of Jesus' love through winsome words. assuring smiles. holy hugs?
And who have you been an angel to lately? With whom have you shared
the "Don't be afraid!" messaged Remember hearing from your mom or
dad the comforting words of "Don't be afraid"? They were not words of
judgment or despair but rather words of comfort and hope. And that's
what angels do, whether they have wings or not.
A little girl was so proud to be picked to be the Christmas angelic the
Christmas pageant. She repeated today's lesson from Luke 2 over and
over and over. But during the worship service, as she proudly started to
wiggle her wings above the holy cardboard box (aka. manger), she saw
her family and friends watching her and sine suddenly forgot the lines.
Yet. even though she couldn't recall the words. she did remember
the message. As she boldly kept fluttering about, she shouted out.
"Wow. do I have good news for you!"
That's what angels do. They did it in the shepherds' field of Bethlehem.
and they continue to share the good news of Christ's love and forgiveness
in Boston, Bloomingdale and Birmingham. Angels cannot undo the UH-OHs
of our lives, but they can point us to the One who brings us to his
embrace of grace.
"Don't be afraid," we say to each other: the AH-HA of Christmas has arrived!
Lord. Keep showing us how to be angels so that we can love and serve
you, on a "wing and a prayer" In Jesus' name. Amen ... and AH-HA!

They are clouds without water,
carried along by winds; autumn trees without fruit, twice dead, uprooted;
13 raging waves of the sea, which are foaming up their own shame;
wandering stars for whom the gloom of darkness has been kept forever.
[11] Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily
after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of
Core.
[12] These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you,
feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried
about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead,
plucked up by the roots;
[17] But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the
apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;
[3] Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this
prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is
at hand.
[4] John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and
peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the
seven Spirits which are before his throne;
And being turned, I
saw seven golden candlesticks;
[13] And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of
man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a
golden girdle.
[14] His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his
eyes were as a flame of fire;
[19] Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and
the things which shall be hereafter;
[1] Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he
that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of
the seven golden candlesticks;
[8] And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the
first and the last, which was dead, and is alive;
[12] And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he
which hath the sharp sword with two edges;
26 (Rev 3:21; 2:7; 20:4) "To him who overcomes and keeps My works to the end,
I will give authority over the nations-
27 (Rev 12:5; 19:15) He 'shall rule them with a rod of iron;
like the vessels of a potter they shall be broken in pieces'(Ps 2:9.)-
even as I myself have received authority from My Father.
28 (Rev 22:16; 2Pe 1:19) And I will give him the morning star.
29 (Rev 2:7) He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says
to the churches.
[18] And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith
the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet
are like fine brass;
[24] But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not
this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak;

{ Gaia comes to mind?}
Elevating Mary
Public Domain https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Madonna_Benois.jpg

Entitled "The Power of God's Word"
Isaiah 55:6-13
6 (Ps 32:6; Isa 45:19 ) Seek the Lord while He may be found,
call you upon Him while He is near.
7 (Isa 44:22; Pr 28:13) Let the wicked forsake his way,
and the unrighteous man his thoughts;
and let him return to the Lord, and He will have mercy upon him,
and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.
8 For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
nor are your ways My ways,
says the Lord.
9 (Ps 103:11) For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are My ways higher than your ways,
and My thoughts than your thoughts.
10 (Isa 30:23) For as the rain comes down,
and the snow from heaven,
and do not return there
but water the earth
and make it bring forth and bud
that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater,
11 (Isa 45:23; 46:10) so shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
it shall not return to Me void,
but it shall accomplish that which I please,
and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
12 (Isa 44:23; Ps 105:43) For you shall go out with joy,
and be led out with peace;
the mountains and the hills
shall break forth into singing before you,
and all the trees of the field
shall clap their hands.
13 (Isa 41:19; 60:13) Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree,
and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree;
and it shall be to the Lord for a memorial,
for an everlasting sign
that shall not be cut off.

The suspense builds; the execution is delayed as the officials
wait for a word of pardon. Finally, the woman in executed;
the call comes, and the pardon has been granted, but it is too late.
5) From a Book called God's Promises for you:
12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies,
kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom;
teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

10 (Mt 3:2; 4:17) Your kingdom come;
Your will be done
on earth, as it is in heaven.

14 (Ac 1:26) But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice
and said to them, "Men of Judea and all you who dwell in Jerusalem,
let this be known to you, and listen to my words.
15 For these are not drunk, as you suppose,
since it is the third hour of the day.
16 But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:
17 (Isa 44:3; Ac 10:45) 'In the last days it shall be,' says God,
'that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your young men shall see visions,
and your old men shall dream dreams.'
15 Neither do men light a candle and put it under
a basket, but on a candlestick. And it gives light to all who are in the
house."
Ideas for prayer
- Pray for opportunities to show the love of Christ to Muslims around you
- Pray for, and offer generous hospitality to, those you know who are serving
Christ among Muslim people -
Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."
- When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims
throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days!

Amen ... and AH-HA!
