1) Numbers 34-36
NUMBERS 34
The Borders of Canaan
1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
2 (Ge 17:8; Ps 105:11) Command the children of Israel, and say to them:
When you are going into the land of Canaan, this is the land that will fall
to you for an inheritance, the land of Canaan with its borders.
3 (Ge 14:3; Eze 47:13) Then your south side will be from the Wilderness
of Zin along by the border of Edom, and your south border will be
the end of the Dead Sea to the east.
4 (Nu 32:8) And your border will turn from the south
to the Ascent of Akrabbim, and continue to Zin, and the end of it will be
from the south to Kadesh Barnea. Then it will continue to Hazar Addar,
and pass on to Azmon.
5 (Jos 15:4; Ge 15:18; Jos 15:47) And the border will circle around
from Azmon to the Brook of Egypt, and the end of it will be
at the Mediterranean Sea.
6 For the western border, you will have the Mediterranean Sea
and its coastline. This will be your western border.
7 (Nu 33:37) This will be your northern border:
From the Mediterranean Sea you will mark a line to Mount Hor;
8 (Nu 13:21; 2Ki 14:25) from Mount Hor you will mark a line of your border
to Lebo Hamath, and the limits of the border will be to Zedad.
9 (Eze 47:17) And the border will go on to Ziphron, and the limits of it will
be at Hazar Enan. This will be your northern border.
10 You will mark a line for your eastern border from Hazar Enan to Shepham.
11 (Dt 3:17; 2Ki 23:33) And the border will go down from Shepham to Riblah,
on the east side of Ain, and the border will go down and will reach the side
of the Sea of Kinnereth to the east.
12 (Nu 34:3) And the border will go down to the Jordan, and the limits of it
will be at the Dead Sea.
This will be your land with its borders all around.
13 Moses commanded the children of Israel, saying:
This is the land which you will possess by lot,
which the Lord commanded to give to the nine tribes, and to the half-tribe
14 (Nu 32:33) because the tribe of the children of Reuben by the house
of their fathers and the tribe of the children of Gad by the house of their
fathers have received their inheritance, and half the tribe of Manasseh
has received their inheritance.
15 The two tribes and the half-tribe have received their inheritance
on this side of the Jordan near Jericho to the east, toward the sunrise.
The Leaders to Divide the Land
16 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
17 (Jos 14:1; 19:51) These are the names of the men who will divide the land
for you: Eleazar the priest and Joshua the son of Nun.
18 You will take one leader of each tribe to divide the land by inheritance.
19 (Nu 26:65; 13:30) These are the names of the men:
of the tribe of Judah,
Caleb the son of Jephunneh;
20 of the tribe of the children of Simeon,
Shemuel the son of Ammihud;
21 of the tribe of Benjamin,
Elidad the son of Kislon;
22 the leader of the tribe of the children of Dan,
Bukki the son of Jogli;
23 the leader of the children of Joseph,
for the tribe of the children of Manasseh,
Hanniel the son of Ephod;
24 the leader of the tribe of the children of Ephraim,
Kemuel the son of Shiphtan;
25 the leader of the tribe of the children of Zebulun,
Elizaphan the son of Parnak;
26 the leader of the tribe of the children of Issachar,
Paltiel the son of Azzan;
27 the leader of the tribe of the children of Asher,
Ahihud the son of Shelomi;
28 the leader of the tribe of the children of Naphtali,
Pedahel the son of Ammihud.
29 These are the ones whom the Lord commanded to divide the inheritance
among the children of Israel in the land of Canaan.
Numbers 34
[1] And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
[2] Command the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye come into the
land of Canaan; (this is the land that shall fall unto you for an
inheritance, even the land of Canaan with the coasts thereof:)
[3] Then your south quarter shall be from the wilderness of Zin along by the
coast of Edom, and your south border shall be the outmost coast of the salt
sea eastward:
[4] And your border shall turn from the south to the ascent of Akrabbim, and
pass on to Zin: and the going forth thereof shall be from the south to
Kadesh-barnea, and shall go on to Hazar-addar, and pass on to Azmon:
[5] And the border shall fetch a compass from Azmon unto the river of Egypt,
and the goings out of it shall be at the sea.
[6] And as for the western border, ye shall even have the great sea for a
border: this shall be your west border.
[7] And this shall be your north border: from the great sea ye shall point
out for you mount Hor:
[8] From mount Hor ye shall point out your border unto the entrance of
Hamath; and the goings forth of the border shall be to Zedad:
[9] And the border shall go on to Ziphron, and the goings out of it shall be
at Hazar-enan: this shall be your north border.
[10] And ye shall point out your east border from Hazar-enan to Shepham:
[11] And the coast shall go down from Shepham to Riblah, on the east side of
Ain; and the border shall descend, and shall reach unto the side of the sea
of Chinnereth eastward:
[12] And the border shall go down to Jordan, and the goings out of it shall
be at the salt sea: this shall be your land with the coasts thereof round
about.
[13] And Moses commanded the children of Israel, saying, This is the land
which ye shall inherit by lot, which the LORD commanded to give unto the
nine tribes, and to the half tribe:

NUMBERS 35
The Levites' Cities
(Dt 4:41-43; 19:1-14; Jos 20:1-9)
1 (Nu 22:1) And the Lord spoke to Moses in the plains of Moab
by Jordan near Jericho, saying:
2 (Jos 14:3-4; Eze 48:8) Command the children of Israel,
and they will give to the Levites of the inheritance of their possession
cities to dwell in, and you will give the Levites pasturelands
around the city.
3 The cities will be for them to dwell in, and their pasturelands will be
for their livestock, and for their property, and for all their animals.
4 The pasturelands of the cities, which you will give to the Levites,
will reach from the wall of the city
and beyond one thousand cubits
(About 1,500 feet, or 450 meters.)
all around.
5 You will measure from without the city on the east side two thousand
cubits, (About 3,000 feet, or 900 meters.) and on the south side 2000 cubits,
and on the west side 2000 cubits, and on the north side 2000 cubits,
and the city will be in the middle. This will be for them
the pasturelands of the cities.
Cities of Refuge
6 (Jos 21:3; 21:13) Among the cities which you will give to the Levites
there will be six cities of refuge, which you will appoint
for the manslayer, that he may flee there,
and to them you will add 42 cities.
7 So all the cities which you will give to the Levites will be 48 cities.
You will give them with their pasturelands.
8 (Nu 26:54; 33:54) The cities which you shall give shall be from
the possession of the children of Israel. From the larger tribes
you shall give many, and from the smaller tribes you shall give few.
Each tribe, in proportion to the inheritance that it receives,
shall give of its cities to the Levites.
9 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
10 Speak to the children of Israel and say to them:
When you are crossing over the Jordan into the land of Canaan,
11 (Ex 21:13; Jos 20:2) then you shall designate cities as
your cities of refuge,
so that a manslayer who unintentionally kills a person may flee there.
12 (Dt 19:6; Jos 20:3-6) The cities will be for you a refuge from
the avenger, so that the manslayer does not die until he stands trial
before the assembly.
13 The cities which you designate shall be your six cities of refuge.
14 You will give three cities across the Jordan, and three cities you
will give in the land of Canaan, which will be cities of refuge.
15 (Nu 15:16) For the children of Israel, and for the stranger,
and for the foreign sojourner among them will be six cities.
These will be for a refuge. Everyone that unintentionally kills
any person may flee there.
16 (Lev 24:17) If he strikes him with an instrument of iron, so that he dies,
he is a murderer. The murderer shall surely be put to death.
17 If he strikes him with a stone in hand, by which hecould die,
and he dies, he is a murderer. The murderer shall surely be put to death.
18 Or if he strikes him with a weapon of wood in hand, by which
he could die, and he dies, he is a murderer. The murderer shall
surely be put to death.
19 (Nu 35:21; Dt 19:6) The avenger of blood himself will slay the murderer.
When he meets him, he will slay him.
20 (Ex 21:14; Dt 19:11) But if he pushed him out of hatred, or threw something
at him, lying in wait, so he dies,
21 or in hatred struck him with his hand, so he died, he that struck him shall
surely be put to death, because he is a murderer. The avenger of blood will
slay the murderer when he meets him.
22 (Ex 21:13; Nu 35:11) But if he pushed him suddenly without hatred,
or threw anything at him without lying in wait,
23 or used a stone that may cause death, unintentionally throwing it at him,
resulting in death, though they were not enemies,
and was not trying to harm him,
24 (Jos 20:6; Nu 35:12) then the assembly will judge between the manslayer
and the avenger of blood according to these judgments.
25 (Ex 29:7; Lev 4:3) And the assembly will deliver the manslayer out of the
hand of the avenger of blood, and the assembly will restore him to the city
of his refuge where he fled, and he will dwell in it until the death of
the high priest, who was anointed with the holy oil.
26 But if the manslayer will go out at any time beyond
the border of the city of his refuge where he fled,
27 and the avenger of blood finds him outside the borders of the city of
his refuge, and the avenger of blood kills the manslayer, he will not
be guilty of blood,
28 because the manslayer should have remained in the city of his refuge
until the death of the high priest. But after the death of the high priest
the manslayer may return to the land of his possession.
29 (Nu 27:11) So these things will be for a statute of judgment to you
throughout your generations in all your dwelling places.
30 (Dt 19:15; Mt 18:16) Whoever kills a person, the murderer will be put
to death by the testimony of witnesses, but one witness will not testify
against a person for death.
31 And you will not take a ransom for the life of a murderer who is guilty
of death, but he will surely be put to death.
32 You will not take a ransom for him who fled to the city of his refuge,
that he should come out again to dwell in the land,
until the death of the priest.
33 (Mic 4:11; Ge 9:6) So you will not defile the land which you are in,
because blood defiles the land, and the land cannot be cleansed of the
blood that is shed in it, except by the blood of him that shed it.
34 (Nu 5:3) So do not defile the land which you are dwelling in,
where I am residing, because I the Lord am residing
among the children of Israel.
Numbers 35
[1] And the LORD spake unto Moses in the plains of Moab by Jordan near
Jericho, saying,
[2] Command the children of Israel, that they give unto the Levites of the
inheritance of their possession cities to dwell in; and ye shall give also
unto the Levites suburbs for the cities round about them.
[3] And the cities shall they have to dwell in; and the suburbs of them
shall be for their cattle, and for their goods, and for all their beasts.
[4] And the suburbs of the cities, which ye shall give unto the Levites,
shall reach from the wall of the city and outward a thousand cubits round
about.
[5] And ye shall measure from without the city on the east side two thousand
cubits, and on the south side two thousand cubits, and on the west side two
thousand cubits, and on the north side two thousand cubits and the city
shall be in the midst: this shall be to them the suburbs of the cities.
[6] And among the cities which ye shall give unto the Levites there shall be
six cities for refuge, which ye shall appoint for the manslayer, that he may
flee thither: and to them ye shall add forty and two cities.
[7] So all the cities which ye shall give to the Levites shall be forty and
eight cities: them shall ye give with their suburbs.
[8] And the cities which ye shall give shall be of the possession of the
children of Israel: from them that have many ye shall give many; but from
them that have few ye shall give few: every one shall give of his cities
unto the Levites according to his inheritance which he inheriteth.
[9] And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

upon him, that he die, and was not his enemy, neither sought his harm:
[24] Then the congregation shall judge between the slayer and the revenger
of blood according to these judgments:
[25] And the congregation shall deliver the slayer out of the hand of the
revenger of blood, and the congregation shall restore him to the city of his
refuge, whither he was fled: and he shall abide in it unto the death of the
high priest, which was anointed with the holy oil.
[26] But if the slayer shall at any time come without the border of the city
of his refuge, whither he was fled;
[27] And the revenger of blood find him without the borders of the city of
his refuge, and the revenger of blood kill the slayer; he shall not be
guilty of blood:
[28] Because he should have remained in the city of his refuge until the
death of the high priest: but after the death of the high priest the slayer
shall return into the land of his possession.
[29] So these things shall be for a statute of judgment unto you throughout
your generations in all your dwellings.
[30] Whoso killeth any person, the murderer shall be put to death by the
mouth of witnesses: but one witness shall not testify against any person to
cause him to die.
[31] Moreover ye shall take no satisfaction for the life of a murderer,
which is guilty of death: but he shall be surely put to death.
[32] And ye shall take no satisfaction for him that is fled to the city of
his refuge, that he should come again to dwell in the land, until the death
of the priest.
[33] So ye shall not pollute the land wherein ye are: for blood it defileth
the land: and the land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed therein,
but by the blood of him that shed it.
[34] Defile not therefore the land which ye shall inhabit, wherein I dwell:
for I the LORD dwell among the children of Israel.
NUMBERS 36
Marriage of Female Heirs
Nu 27:1-11
1 (Nu 27:1)And the chief fathers of the families of the children of Gilead
the son of Makir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of the sons of Joseph,
came near, and spoke before Moses and before the leaders, the chief fathers
of the children of Israel.
2 (Nu 33:54) And they said, "The Lord commanded my lord to give the land
for an inheritance by lot to the children of Israel,
and my lord was commanded by the Lord to give the inheritance of Zelophehad
our brother to his daughters.
3 If they are married to any of the sons of the other tribes
of the children of Israel, then their inheritance
will be taken from the inheritance
of our fathers and will be added to the inheritance of the tribe to
which they are married, so will it be taken from the lot of our inheritance.
4 When the jubilee of the children of Israel happens, then their inheritance
will be added to the inheritance of the tribe to which they are married,
so their inheritance will be taken away from the inheritance of the tribe
of our fathers."
5 (Nu 27:7) Moses commanded the children of Israel according to the word
of the Lord, saying: "The tribe of the sons of Joseph has spoken right.
6 (Nu 36:12) This is the thing which the Lord commands concerning
the daughters of Zelophehad, saying, 'Let them marry whom they think best.
But they may marry only within a clan of their father's tribe.
7 (1Ki 21:3) So the inheritance of the children of Israel will not turn
from tribe to tribe, because every one of the children of Israel will keep
the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers.
8 (1Ch 23:22) Every daughter that possesses an inheritance in any tribe
of the children of Israel will be wife to one of the families of the tribe
of her father, so every man of the children of Israel may enjoy
the inheritance of his fathers.
9 Thus no inheritance will turn from one tribe to another tribe,
but every tribe of the children of Israel will keep its own inheritance.' "
10 Just as the Lord commanded Moses, thus the daughters of Zelophehad did,
11 (Nu 27:1_for Mahlah, Tirzah, Hoglah, Milkah, and Noah,
the daughters of Zelophehad, were married to their uncles' sons.
12 And they were married into the families of the sons of Manasseh
the son of Joseph, and their inheritance remained in the tribe of the
family of their father.
13 (Lev 27:34; Nu 22:1) These are the commandments and the judgments
which the Lord commanded by the hand of Moses to the children of Israel
in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho.
Numbers 36

daughters.
[3] And if they be married to any of the sons of the other tribes of the
children of Israel, then shall their inheritance be taken from the
inheritance of our fathers, and shall be put to the inheritance of the tribe
whereunto they are received: so shall it be taken from the lot of our
inheritance.
[4] And when the jubile of the children of Israel shall be, then shall their
inheritance be put unto the inheritance of the tribe whereunto they are
received: so shall their inheritance be taken away from the inheritance of
the tribe of our fathers.

Michelle Grant trained a baby beaver named Timber to return to the wild.
When she took him for swims in a pond, he'd come back to her kayak to snuggle
and rub noses. One morning Timber didn't return. Michelle scoured the pond
for six hours before giving up. Weeks later she found a beaver skull.
Assuming it was Timber, she began to cry.
My soul ached for Michelle and Timber. I told myself, "Snap out of it.
He's just a large, aquatic rodent." But the truth is, I cared-and
so does God. His love reaches high to the heavens and down to the smallest
creature, part of the creation He calls us to steward well (Genesis 1:28).
He preserves "both people and animals" (Psalm 36:6),
providing "food for the cattle and for the young ravens" (147:9).
One day Michelle was kayaking in a neighbor's pond and—surprise—there
was Timber! He'd found a beaver family and was helping them raise two kits.
He surfaced beside Michelle's kayak. She smiled, "You look well.
You have a beautiful family." He cooed, splashed his tail,
and swam to his new mom.
I love happy endings, especially my own! Jesus promised that as His Father
feeds the birds, so He will supply whatever we need (Matthew 6:25-26).
Not one sparrow falls "to the ground outside your Father's care. . . .
So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows" (10:29-31).

Joshua 1:8
8 (Ps 19:14; 119:15) This Book of the Law must not depart from your mouth.
Meditate on it day and night so that you may act carefully according
to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way successful,
and you will be wise.
8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt
meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according
to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous,
and then thou shalt have good success.
When God spoke these words to Joshua, the young leader's prospects for
"prosperity" and "success" were far from promising. Upon Moses' death,
Joshua was appointed to lead Israel into the Promised Land, to claim
the territory and establish a nation under God's rule.
Joshua was afraid, and for good reason. The people were rebellious
and intractable. And "claiming the land" meant battling many strong enemies.
Yet God told Joshua that his strength would come not in preparing for battle,
but in preparing for battle, but in preparing himself by meditating
on and applying God's word to his life.
We, too, face difficult battles as we seek to enter the "Promised Land"
of God's peace and presence. But his promise is the same as it was to Joshua:
through obedience to the Word, we can find prosperity and success.
God's promise does not necessarily mean financial prosperity
or material success. These victories may come as well, but God's primary
purpose for his people is spiritual success - the victory and joy of living
in fellowship with him. We can be enriched in the knowledge of God and
find power to overcome the enemies of sin and self. The way may not be easy
- after all, there is no victory without conflict - but God promises
that we will succeed as we look to him.

Saskatoon has seen quick growth in its Muslim population over the past
5 years, which maybe as high as 5000 today. Islamic leaders have
focused specifically on this city , having twice already sent cohorts
of about 70 families to start mosques. There are now 7 Islamic centres
of worship and an ISlamic madrassah (school) located right next to a
Christian school.
Of particular concern recently is the number of young adults who grew up
in evangelical churches and converted to Islam. Most of these are young
women whowere wooed by Muslim man and became emotionally bonded.
Both prior to and after marrying, these women are known to convert to ISlam.
Agree in prayer with us for:
- entire congregations and individual believers to catch God's heart
and passion for reaching Muslims in Saskatoon and the other growing
Muslim population centres of Saskatchewan.
- for the eyes and understanding of Canadian youth to be opened to the
spiritual reality of Islam, and not deceived nor manipulated into
converting to a religion which cannot offer assurance of salvation.
- for the few workers among Muslims now engaged there, and for many more
to be raised up into effective witness.

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.
For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.
You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"
Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you
know, and Muslims around the world:
- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.
Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,
"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
18 Even on My menservants and maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.
19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below:
blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,

The Borders of Canaan
1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:

When you are going into the land of Canaan, this is the land that will fall
to you for an inheritance, the land of Canaan with its borders.
3 (Ge 14:3; Eze 47:13) Then your south side will be from the Wilderness
of Zin along by the border of Edom, and your south border will be
the end of the Dead Sea to the east.
4 (Nu 32:8) And your border will turn from the south
to the Ascent of Akrabbim, and continue to Zin, and the end of it will be
from the south to Kadesh Barnea. Then it will continue to Hazar Addar,
and pass on to Azmon.
5 (Jos 15:4; Ge 15:18; Jos 15:47) And the border will circle around
from Azmon to the Brook of Egypt, and the end of it will be
at the Mediterranean Sea.

The Levites' Cities
(Dt 4:41-43; 19:1-14; Jos 20:1-9)
1 (Nu 22:1) And the Lord spoke to Moses in the plains of Moab
by Jordan near Jericho, saying:
2 (Jos 14:3-4; Eze 48:8) Command the children of Israel,
and they will give to the Levites of the inheritance of their possession
cities to dwell in, and you will give the Levites pasturelands
around the city.
3 The cities will be for them to dwell in, and their pasturelands will be
for their livestock, and for their property, and for all their animals.
4 The pasturelands of the cities, which you will give to the Levites,
will reach from the wall of the city
and beyond one thousand cubits
(About 1,500 feet, or 450 meters.)
all around.
5 You will measure from without the city on the east side two thousand
cubits, (About 3,000 feet, or 900 meters.) and on the south side 2000 cubits,
and on the west side 2000 cubits, and on the north side 2000 cubits,
and the city will be in the middle. This will be for them
the pasturelands of the cities.
Cities of Refuge
6 (Jos 21:3; 21:13) Among the cities which you will give to the Levites
there will be six cities of refuge, which you will appoint
for the manslayer, that he may flee there,
and to them you will add 42 cities.
7 So all the cities which you will give to the Levites will be 48 cities.
You will give them with their pasturelands.
8 (Nu 26:54; 33:54) The cities which you shall give shall be from
the possession of the children of Israel. From the larger tribes
you shall give many, and from the smaller tribes you shall give few.
Each tribe, in proportion to the inheritance that it receives,
shall give of its cities to the Levites.
9 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
10 Speak to the children of Israel and say to them:
When you are crossing over the Jordan into the land of Canaan,
11 (Ex 21:13; Jos 20:2) then you shall designate cities as
your cities of refuge,
so that a manslayer who unintentionally kills a person may flee there.
12 (Dt 19:6; Jos 20:3-6) The cities will be for you a refuge from
the avenger, so that the manslayer does not die until he stands trial
before the assembly.
13 The cities which you designate shall be your six cities of refuge.
14 You will give three cities across the Jordan, and three cities you
will give in the land of Canaan, which will be cities of refuge.
15 (Nu 15:16) For the children of Israel, and for the stranger,
and for the foreign sojourner among them will be six cities.
These will be for a refuge. Everyone that unintentionally kills
any person may flee there.
16 (Lev 24:17) If he strikes him with an instrument of iron, so that he dies,
he is a murderer. The murderer shall surely be put to death.
17 If he strikes him with a stone in hand, by which hecould die,
and he dies, he is a murderer. The murderer shall surely be put to death.
18 Or if he strikes him with a weapon of wood in hand, by which
he could die, and he dies, he is a murderer. The murderer shall
surely be put to death.
19 (Nu 35:21; Dt 19:6) The avenger of blood himself will slay the murderer.
When he meets him, he will slay him.
20 (Ex 21:14; Dt 19:11) But if he pushed him out of hatred, or threw something
at him, lying in wait, so he dies,
21 or in hatred struck him with his hand, so he died, he that struck him shall
surely be put to death, because he is a murderer. The avenger of blood will
slay the murderer when he meets him.
22 (Ex 21:13; Nu 35:11) But if he pushed him suddenly without hatred,
or threw anything at him without lying in wait,
23 or used a stone that may cause death, unintentionally throwing it at him,
resulting in death, though they were not enemies,
and was not trying to harm him,
24 (Jos 20:6; Nu 35:12) then the assembly will judge between the manslayer
and the avenger of blood according to these judgments.
25 (Ex 29:7; Lev 4:3) And the assembly will deliver the manslayer out of the
hand of the avenger of blood, and the assembly will restore him to the city
of his refuge where he fled, and he will dwell in it until the death of
the high priest, who was anointed with the holy oil.
26 But if the manslayer will go out at any time beyond
the border of the city of his refuge where he fled,
27 and the avenger of blood finds him outside the borders of the city of
his refuge, and the avenger of blood kills the manslayer, he will not
be guilty of blood,
28 because the manslayer should have remained in the city of his refuge
until the death of the high priest. But after the death of the high priest
the manslayer may return to the land of his possession.
29 (Nu 27:11) So these things will be for a statute of judgment to you
throughout your generations in all your dwelling places.
30 (Dt 19:15; Mt 18:16) Whoever kills a person, the murderer will be put
to death by the testimony of witnesses, but one witness will not testify
against a person for death.
31 And you will not take a ransom for the life of a murderer who is guilty
of death, but he will surely be put to death.
32 You will not take a ransom for him who fled to the city of his refuge,
that he should come out again to dwell in the land,
until the death of the priest.
33 (Mic 4:11; Ge 9:6) So you will not defile the land which you are in,
because blood defiles the land, and the land cannot be cleansed of the
blood that is shed in it, except by the blood of him that shed it.
34 (Nu 5:3) So do not defile the land which you are dwelling in,
where I am residing, because I the Lord am residing

Nu 27:1-11
1 (Nu 27:1)And the chief fathers of the families of the children of Gilead

of the children of Israel.
2 (Nu 33:54) And they said, "The Lord commanded my lord to give the land
for an inheritance by lot to the children of Israel,
and my lord was commanded by the Lord to give the inheritance of Zelophehad
our brother to his daughters.
3 If they are married to any of the sons of the other tribes
of the children of Israel, then their inheritance

Michelle Grant trained a baby beaver named Timber to return to the wild.
When she took him for swims in a pond, he'd come back to her kayak to snuggle
and rub noses. One morning Timber didn't return. Michelle scoured the pond
for six hours before giving up. Weeks later she found a beaver skull.
Assuming it was Timber, she began to cry.
My soul ached for Michelle and Timber. I told myself, "Snap out of it.
He's just a large, aquatic rodent." But the truth is, I cared-and
so does God. His love reaches high to the heavens and down to the smallest
creature, part of the creation He calls us to steward well (Genesis 1:28).
He preserves "both people and animals" (Psalm 36:6),
providing "food for the cattle and for the young ravens" (147:9).
One day Michelle was kayaking in a neighbor's pond and—surprise—there
was Timber! He'd found a beaver family and was helping them raise two kits.
He surfaced beside Michelle's kayak. She smiled, "You look well.
You have a beautiful family." He cooed, splashed his tail,
and swam to his new mom.
I love happy endings, especially my own! Jesus promised that as His Father
feeds the birds, so He will supply whatever we need (Matthew 6:25-26).
Not one sparrow falls "to the ground outside your Father's care. . . .
So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows" (10:29-31).

Joshua 1:8
8 (Ps 19:14; 119:15) This Book of the Law must not depart from your mouth.
Meditate on it day and night so that you may act carefully according
to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way successful,
and you will be wise.
8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt
meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according
to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous,
and then thou shalt have good success.
When God spoke these words to Joshua, the young leader's prospects for
"prosperity" and "success" were far from promising. Upon Moses' death,
Joshua was appointed to lead Israel into the Promised Land, to claim
the territory and establish a nation under God's rule.
Joshua was afraid, and for good reason. The people were rebellious
and intractable. And "claiming the land" meant battling many strong enemies.
Yet God told Joshua that his strength would come not in preparing for battle,
but in preparing for battle, but in preparing himself by meditating
on and applying God's word to his life.
We, too, face difficult battles as we seek to enter the "Promised Land"
of God's peace and presence. But his promise is the same as it was to Joshua:
through obedience to the Word, we can find prosperity and success.
God's promise does not necessarily mean financial prosperity
or material success. These victories may come as well, but God's primary
purpose for his people is spiritual success - the victory and joy of living
in fellowship with him. We can be enriched in the knowledge of God and
find power to overcome the enemies of sin and self. The way may not be easy
- after all, there is no victory without conflict - but God promises
that we will succeed as we look to him.
Application
a) What image do I have a personal "Promised Land" that I long
to enter and claim as my own?
b) What enemies will I need to battle in order to enter that land?
c) How can meditation on the Word of God and obedience to him bring me
prosperity and success?

Saskatoon has seen quick growth in its Muslim population over the past
5 years, which maybe as high as 5000 today. Islamic leaders have
focused specifically on this city , having twice already sent cohorts
of about 70 families to start mosques. There are now 7 Islamic centres
of worship and an ISlamic madrassah (school) located right next to a
Christian school.
Of particular concern recently is the number of young adults who grew up
in evangelical churches and converted to Islam. Most of these are young
women whowere wooed by Muslim man and became emotionally bonded.
Both prior to and after marrying, these women are known to convert to ISlam.
Agree in prayer with us for:
- entire congregations and individual believers to catch God's heart
and passion for reaching Muslims in Saskatoon and the other growing
Muslim population centres of Saskatchewan.
- for the eyes and understanding of Canadian youth to be opened to the
spiritual reality of Islam, and not deceived nor manipulated into
converting to a religion which cannot offer assurance of salvation.
- for the few workers among Muslims now engaged there, and for many more
to be raised up into effective witness.
- for prayer and training events that are starting in Saskatoon
to spread and grow to other cities.

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.
For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.
You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"
Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you
know, and Muslims around the world:
- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.
Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,
"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
18 Even on My menservants and maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.
19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below:
blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,
and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes.
21 And whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."[a]

Christ among Muslim people -
Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."
- When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims
throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days!
My paternal side is of Muslim heritage and will offer this section to further
call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity
(Hindus, Jews, aboriginals Canadian, ...) .
