Please remember that you are dealing with live things and eventualities can occur. Some eggs do not hatch, some chrysalis do not emerge, and some butterflies do not thrive. Although this does not occur often we ship extra butterflies just in case.
Because the butterflies are newborn some meconium may still be present in the boxes. Meconium is the fluid that the butterflies use to build tissue and pump up their wings. Extra meconium is shed for up to a week after emergence.
