The Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector
9 (Lk 16:15; Isa 65:5) He told this parable to some who trusted
in themselves, as though they were righteous, and despised others:
10 (Ac 3:1) "Two men went up to the temple to pray,
the one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.
11 (Mt 6:5; Mk 11:25) The Pharisee stood and prayed these things
about himself, 'God, I thank You that I am not like other men:
extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.
12 (Lk 11:42; Mt 9:14; Mal 3:8) I fast twice a week, and I tithe
of all that I earn.'
13 (Lk 23:48; Ezr 9:6) "But the tax collector, standing at a distance,
would not even lift his eyes to heaven, but struck his chest, saying,
'God, be merciful to me a sinner.'
14 (Lk 14:11; Mt 23:12) "I tell you, this man went down to his house
justified rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself
will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."
[9] And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that

Teaching About Divorce
Mt 19:1-12
1 (Jn 10:40; 11:7) He arose and went from there to the region of Judea
to the other side of the Jordan, and the people came to Him again.
And again, as was His custom, He taught them.
2 (Jn 8:6) The Pharisees came to test Him, asking,
"Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?"
3 He answered them, "What did Moses command you?"
4 (Dt 24:1-4) They said, “Moses permitted a man to write a certificate
of divorce and to divorce her.”
5 (Mt 19:8) Jesus answered them, "Due to the hardness of your heart
he wrote you this precept.
6 (Ge 1:27; 5:2) But from the beginning of the creation, God
'made them male and female.'(Ge 1:27).
7 (Ge 2:24; Eph 5:31) 'For this cause shall a man leave his father
and mother, and cleave to his wife,
8 (1Co 6:16) and the two shall be one flesh.' So then they are
no longer two, but one flesh.
9 What therefore God has joined together, let not man put asunder."
10 In the house His disciples asked Him concerning this matter again.
11 (Lk 16:18) He said to them, "Whoever divorces his wife
and marries another commits adultery against her.

her away.

and came into the region of Judea beyond the Jordan.
2 (Mt 12:15) Large crowds followed Him, and He healed them there.
3 (Jn 8:6) The Pharisees also came to Him, tempting Him and saying,
"Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any reason?"
4 (Ge 1:27; 5:2) He answered, "Have you not read that He who made them
at the beginning ;made them male and female,' (Ge 1:27; 5:2).
5 (1Co 6:16; Eph 5:31) and said, 'For this reason a man shall leave his father
and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh'
(Ge 2:24.)?
6 So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined
together, let no man put asunder."
7 (Dt 24:1-4; Mt 5:31) They said to Him, "Then why did Moses command to give
a certificate of divorce, and to send her away?" Dt 24:1-4.
8 (Ge 2:24) He said to them, "Moses, for the hardness of your hearts,
permitted you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so.

except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery.
And whoever marries her who is divorced commits adultery."
10 His disciples said to Him, "If such is the case of the man with his wife,

this precept, but only those to whom it is given.
12 For there are some eunuchs who have been so from birth, there are some
eunuchs who have been made eunuchs by men, and there are some eunuchs
who have made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven.
He who is able to receive this, let him receive it."

that He might touch them. But the disciples rebuked those who brought them.
14 But when Jesus saw it, He was very displeased and said to them,
"Allow the little children to come to Me, and do not forbid them,
for of such is the kingdom of God.
15 (Mt 18:3; Lk 18:17) Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive
the kingdom of God as a little child shall not enter it."
16 (Mk 9:36) And He took them up in His arms, put His hands on them,
and blessed them.

[14] But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come

"Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"
18 He said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one is good, except God alone.
19 (Ex 20:12-17; Lk 18:20) You know the commandments, Do not commit adultery,
Do not murder, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Do not defraud, Honor
your father and mother.(Ex 20:12-16; Dt 5:16-20.)"
20 (Mt 19:20; Php 3:6) He answered Him,
"Teacher, all these have I observed from my youth."
21 (Lk 12:33; Ac 2:45) Then Jesus, looking upon him, loved him
and said to him, "You lack one thing: Go your way, sell whatever you have
and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven.
And come, take up the cross and follow Me."
22 (Eze 33:31) He was saddened by that word, and he went away grieving.
For he had many possessions.

"How hard it will be for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God!"

25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle

"Who then can be saved?"

"With men it is impossible, but not with God.

"Good Teacher, what good deed shall I do to have eternal life?"
17 (Lev 18:5; Ro 10:5) He replied to him, "Why do you call Me good?
There is One who is good. But if you would enter life, keep the commandments."
18 He said to Him, "Which ones?"
Jesus said, "You shall not murder, You shall not commit adultery,
You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness,
(Ex 20:13-16; Dt 5:17-20).
19 (Lev 19:18; Mt 22:39; Ex 20:12) Honor your father and your mother,
(Ex 20:12; Dt 5:16) and,
You shall love your neighbor as yourself.(Lev 19:18.)"

inherit eternal life?"
19 Jesus said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one is good,

Do not bear false witness, Honor your father and your mother.

Entitled "Reasons to Rejoice"
Psalms 64
For the Music Director. A Psalm of David.
1 Hear my voice, O God, in my complaint;
guard my life from dread of the enemy.
2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked,
from the throng of the workers of iniquity;
3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) they sharpen their tongue like a sword,
and bend their bows to shoot their arrows—bitter words,
4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) that they may shoot in secret at the blameless;
suddenly they shoot at him and do not fear.
5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) They harden themselves in an evil matter;
they talk privately of laying snares;
they say, "Who will see them?"
6 (2Sa 17:22; Dt 3:8-9) They devise injustice,
saying "We have perfected a secret plot."
Both the inward thought of man and the heart are deep.
7 (Ps 88:7; Jnh 2:3) But God will suddenly shoot them with an arrow;
they will be wounded.
8 (Job 35:10; Ps 63:6) They will bring ruin on themselves
by their own tongues;
all who see them will flee away.
9 (Ps 38:6; 18:2) All people will fear,
and declare the work of God;
they will wisely consider His deeds.
10 (Ps 42:3; Joel 2:17) The righteous will be glad in the Lord,
and seek refuge in Him,
and all the upright in heart will glory.
Psalms 64

When Ms. Glenda walked into the church commons area, her infectious joy filled
the room. She had just recovered from a difficult medical procedure. As she
approached me for our usual after-church greeting, I thanked God for all the
times over the years that she's wept with me, gently corrected me, and offered
encouragement. She's even asked for forgiveness when she's thought she's hurt
my feelings. Whatever the situation, she always invites me to share my
struggles honestly and reminds me that we have many reasons to praise God.
Mama Glenda, as she lets me call her, wrapped me in a gentle hug. "Hi, Baby,"
she said. We enjoyed a short conversation and prayed together. Then she left
-humming and singing as always, looking for someone else to bless.
In Psalm 64, David boldly approached God with his complaints and concerns
(v. 1). He voiced his frustrations about the wickedness he saw around him
(vv. 2-6). He didn't lose confidence in God’s power or the reliability of His
promises (vv. 7-9). He knew that one day, "The righteous will rejoice in the
Lord and take refuge in him; all the upright in heart will glory in him!"
(v. 10).
As we wait for Jesus' return, we'll face tough times. But we'll always have reasons to rejoice in every day God has made.

What reasons has God given you to rejoice today?
How can you encourage someone who may feel discouraged?
Almighty God, thank You for giving me so many reasons
to rejoice as I celebrate who You are, what You've done,
and all You've promised to do.

When God spoke these words to Joshua, the young leader's prospects for
"prosperity" and "success" were far from promising. Upon Moses' death,
Joshua was appointed to lead Israel into the Promised Land, to claim
the territory and establish a nation under God's rule.
Joshua was afraid, and for good reason. The people were rebellious
and intractable. And "claiming the land" meant battling many strong enemies.
Yet God told Joshua that his strength would come not in preparing for battle,
but in preparing for battle, but in preparing himself by meditating
on and applying God's word to his life.
We, too, face difficult battles as we seek to enter the "Promised Land"
of God's peace and presence. But his promise is the same as it was to Joshua:
through obedience to the Word, we can find prosperity and success.
God's promise does not necessarily mean financial prosperity
or material success. These victories may come as well, but God's primary
purpose for his people is spiritual success - the victory and joy of living
in fellowship with him. We can be enriched in the knowledge of God and
find power to overcome the enemies of sin and self. The way may not be easy
- after all, there is no victory without conflict - but God promises
that we will succeed as we look to him.

c) How can meditation on the Word of God and obedience to him bring me
prosperity and success?

Pray with us for God's people to come together in reaching Muslims

More than 200 attended the Eid festival at the end of Ramadan, the Islamic
month of fasting during daylight hours and the reading of the Qur'an, at
the Dar as-Salam mosque in 2014. This second mosque established
in Charlottetown, the other being the Muslims Association of PEI.
As of mid-2014,there are between 250 to 300 families, mostly in Charlottetown.
The Muslims of Charlottetown see their community as symbolically important
for this nation since this is known as the "birthplace of Canada". Yet we were
established as the "Dominion of Canada" with an appeal not only to
monarchial authority, but even more to God's higher Biblical authority as
shown in Psalm 72:8, "May he have dominion from sea to sea,
and from the River to the ends of the earth."
Let us intercede together for:
- the growing Muslim population of Charlottetown and spreading
outward through PEI to encounter the Prince of Peace.
- believers to have faith and vision to reach out to the Muslim Community
in contextual ways to share the Gospel
- churches and ministries to rise up in wisdom, knowledge and understanding,
giving and training, coaching and encouragement to believers reaching
out to Muslims locally.
- a prayer movement to be established, feeding a growing move of Yahweh's
Spirit in His churches and people , and an awakening an openness

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.
For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.
You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"
Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you
know, and Muslims around the world:
- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.

When Ms. Glenda walked into the church commons area, her infectious joy filled
the room. She had just recovered from a difficult medical procedure. As she
approached me for our usual after-church greeting, I thanked God for all the
times over the years that she's wept with me, gently corrected me, and offered
encouragement. She's even asked for forgiveness when she's thought she's hurt
my feelings. Whatever the situation, she always invites me to share my
struggles honestly and reminds me that we have many reasons to praise God.
Mama Glenda, as she lets me call her, wrapped me in a gentle hug. "Hi, Baby,"
she said. We enjoyed a short conversation and prayed together. Then she left
-humming and singing as always, looking for someone else to bless.
In Psalm 64, David boldly approached God with his complaints and concerns
(v. 1). He voiced his frustrations about the wickedness he saw around him
(vv. 2-6). He didn't lose confidence in God’s power or the reliability of His
promises (vv. 7-9). He knew that one day, "The righteous will rejoice in the
Lord and take refuge in him; all the upright in heart will glory in him!"
(v. 10).
As we wait for Jesus' return, we'll face tough times. But we'll always have reasons to rejoice in every day God has made.

What reasons has God given you to rejoice today?
How can you encourage someone who may feel discouraged?
Almighty God, thank You for giving me so many reasons
to rejoice as I celebrate who You are, what You've done,
and all You've promised to do.

Joshua 1:8
8 (Ps 19:14; 119:15) This Book of the Law must not depart from your mouth.
Meditate on it day and night so that you may act carefully according
to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way successful,
and you will be wise.
8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt
meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according
to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous,
and then thou shalt have good success.
When God spoke these words to Joshua, the young leader's prospects for
"prosperity" and "success" were far from promising. Upon Moses' death,
Joshua was appointed to lead Israel into the Promised Land, to claim
the territory and establish a nation under God's rule.
Joshua was afraid, and for good reason. The people were rebellious
and intractable. And "claiming the land" meant battling many strong enemies.
Yet God told Joshua that his strength would come not in preparing for battle,
but in preparing for battle, but in preparing himself by meditating
on and applying God's word to his life.
We, too, face difficult battles as we seek to enter the "Promised Land"
of God's peace and presence. But his promise is the same as it was to Joshua:
through obedience to the Word, we can find prosperity and success.
God's promise does not necessarily mean financial prosperity
or material success. These victories may come as well, but God's primary
purpose for his people is spiritual success - the victory and joy of living
in fellowship with him. We can be enriched in the knowledge of God and
find power to overcome the enemies of sin and self. The way may not be easy
- after all, there is no victory without conflict - but God promises
that we will succeed as we look to him.
Application
a) What image do I have a personal "Promised Land" that I long
to enter and claim as my own?
b) What enemies will I need to battle in order to enter that land?
c) How can meditation on the Word of God and obedience to him bring me
prosperity and success?

Charlottetown does not currently (fall 2014) have a local CNMM network.
Pray with us for God's people to come together in reaching Muslims
cooperatively across denominational and organisational lines.
More than 200 attended the Eid festival at the end of Ramadan, the Islamic
month of fasting during daylight hours and the reading of the Qur'an, at
the Dar as-Salam mosque in 2014. This second mosque established
in Charlottetown, the other being the Muslims Association of PEI.
As of mid-2014,there are between 250 to 300 families, mostly in Charlottetown.
The Muslims of Charlottetown see their community as symbolically important
for this nation since this is known as the "birthplace of Canada". Yet we were
established as the "Dominion of Canada" with an appeal not only to
monarchial authority, but even more to God's higher Biblical authority as
shown in Psalm 72:8, "May he have dominion from sea to sea,
and from the River to the ends of the earth."
Let us intercede together for:
- the growing Muslim population of Charlottetown and spreading
outward through PEI to encounter the Prince of Peace.
- believers to have faith and vision to reach out to the Muslim Community
in contextual ways to share the Gospel
- churches and ministries to rise up in wisdom, knowledge and understanding,
giving and training, coaching and encouragement to believers reaching
out to Muslims locally.
- a prayer movement to be established, feeding a growing move of Yahweh's
Spirit in His churches and people , and an awakening an openness
and spiritual hunger in Muslims for relationship with the Father
through the Son.

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.
For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.
You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"
Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you
know, and Muslims around the world:
- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.
Acts 2:12-17 : 17 12 They were all amazed and perplexed, saying to each other,
"What does this mean?"
13 (1Co 14:23) Others mocking said, "These men are full of new wine."

hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do men light a candle and put it under
a basket, but on a candlestick. And it gives light to all who are in the
house."
Ideas for prayer
- Pray for opportunities to show the love of Christ to Muslims around you
- Pray for, and offer generous hospitality to, those you know who are serving
Christ among Muslim people -
Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."
- When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims
throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days!
My paternal side is of Muslim heritage and will offer this section to further
call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity
