Psalm 146

1 Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, O my soul!

2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) While I live I will praise the Lord;

I will sing praises unto my God while Ihave my life.

3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) Do not put your trust in princes,

nor in a son of man, in whom there is no help.

4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) His breath leaves him, and he returns to the earth;

on that very day his plans perish.

5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) Blessed is he who has the God of Jacob for his help,

whose hope is in the Lord his God,

6 (2Sa 17:22; Dt 3:8-9) who made heaven, and earth,

the sea, and all that is in them,

who keeps faithfulness forever,

7 (Ps 88:7; Jnh 2:3) who executes justice for the oppressed,

who gives food to the hungry. The Lord releases the prisoners.

8 (Job 35:10; Ps 63:6) The Lord opens the eyes of the blind;

the Lord raises those who are brought down; the Lord loves the righteous.

9 (Ps 38:6; 18:2) The Lord preserves the sojourners;

He lifts up the fatherless and widow,

but on the way of the wicked He brings disaster.

10 (Ps 42:3; Joel 2:17) The Lord shall reign forever,

your God, O Zion, unto all generations. Praise you the Lord!

Psalms 146

[2] While I live will I praise the LORD: I will sing praises unto my God

while I have any being.

[3] Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is

no help.

[4] His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his

thoughts perish.

[5] Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in

the LORD his God:

[6] Which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that therein is: which

keepeth truth for ever:

[7] Which executeth judgment for the oppressed: which giveth food to the

hungry. The LORD looseth the prisoners:

[8] The LORD openeth the eyes of the blind: the LORD raiseth them that are

bowed down: the LORD loveth the righteous:

[9] The LORD preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and

widow: but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down.

generations. Praise ye the LORD.

and to the young ravens that chirp.

10 (Ps 42:3; Joel 2:17) He delights not in the strength of the horse,

in those who hope in His mercy.

12 Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem;

praise your God, O Zion.

13 For He has strengthened the bars of your gates;

He has blessed your children within you.

14 He makes peace in your borders,

and fills you with the finest of the wheat.

15 He sends forth His commandment on the earth;

His word goes out swiftly.

16 He gives snow like wool;

He scatters the frost like ashes;

17 He casts forth His ice like morsels;

who can stand before His cold?

18 He sends out His word and melts them;

He causes His wind to blow and the waters flow.

wheat.

swiftly.

2) Our Daily Bread for 13 July 2022

https://odb.org/CA/2022/07/13/who-is-jesus

Entitled Who Is Jesus?

Mark 8:27-30

Peter's Declaration About Jesus

Mt 16:13-20; Lk 9:18-21

27 (Lk 9:18-20) Jesus and His disciples went out into the towns of Caesarea

Philippi. On the way He asked His disciples, "Who do men say that I am?"

28 (Mal 4:5; Mt 14:2) They answered, "John the Baptist, but some say, Elijah;

and others, one of the prophets."

29 (Jn 6:69; 11:27) He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?"

Peter answered Him, "You are the Christ."

30 (Mt 16:20; Lk 9:21) He warned them that they should tell no one about Him.

Caesarea Philippi

27 And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Cæsarea Philippi:

and by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them,

Whom do men say that I am?

28 And they answered, John the Baptist: but some say, Elias; and others,

One of the prophets.

29 And he saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Peter answereth

and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ.

30 And he charged them that they should tell no man of him.

Who do people believe Jesus is? Some say He was a good teacher, but just a

man. Author C. S. Lewis wrote, "Either this man was, and is, the Son of God,

or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool, you can

spit at him and kill him as a demon or you can fall at his feet and call him

Lord and God, but let us not come with any patronising nonsense about his being

a great human teacher." These now-famous words from Mere Christianity propound

that Jesus would not have been a great prophet if He falsely claimed to be

God. That would be the ultimate heresy.

While talking with His disciples as they walked between villages, Jesus asked

them, "Who do people say I am?" (Mark 8:27). Their answers included John the

Baptist, Elijah, and one of the prophets (v. 28). But Jesus wanted to know

what they believed: "Who do you say I am?" Peter got it right. “You are the

Messiah” (v. 29), the Saviour.

But who do we say Jesus is? Jesus could not have been a good teacher

or prophet if what He said about Himself—that He and the Father (God) are

"one" (John 10:30)-wasn't true. His followers and even the demons declared

His divinity as the Son of God (Matthew 8:29; 16:16; 1 John 5:20). Today,

may we spread the word about who Christ is as He provides what we need.

Reflect & Pray

Who do you say Jesus is? If you believe He's the Son of God,

then how can you share who He is with others?

Dear Jesus, thank You for being the way, the truth,

and the life. I’m glad I can cling to You. Help me to share

with others the good news of who You are.

Week 3 - Saved Now and Forever - Day 4 - Daddy!

Romans 8:15

'For you have not received the spirit of slavery again to fear. But you have

received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, "Abba, Father." '

15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have

received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

"I've always been a Daddy's girl," Sandi said proudly, and her relationship

with her father proved it. She was never spoiled, but even as a grown woman,

Sandi maintained a closeness with her father, sharing intimately with him the

important issues of her life. And just her use of the name "Daddy" indicated

that he was, indeed a warm, approachable, affectionate man.

Many people are not so fortunate. Some fathers are stern and harsh;

others absent or uncaring, some even abusive. Few have the king of father

who presents a picture of the loving fatherhood of God.

But whatever our concept of fatherhood, God makes clear that he is everything

we always wanted our fathers to be - loving, forgiving, approachable,

totally accepting of us as we are, encouraging us to become all he has

created us to be.

In Romans 8, Paul calls God our "Abba Father". The Aramaic word for Father,

Abba, is an intimate term that might well be translated, Daddy.

God is our "Daddy," our "Abba" - not a distant, stern patriarch ready

to strike us down at the first sign of transgression, but a gentle,

loving Father who longs for us to climb into his lap and let him comfort us.

When we commit ourselves to Christ, Paul indicates, we do not receive a

"spirit of bondage to fear" but a "spirit of adoption." We are not called

to respond to God out of fear, but out of love and reverence.

We can relax and enjoy his presence, for we are his children,

and he is our loving Daddy.

Application

a) What concept of fatherhood do I have from my own experience with my father?

How does that correspond to Paul's description of God as "Daddy"?

b) How can this verse help change my perception of what it means to have

God as my Father?

4) From Prosperity Promises - Kenneth Copeland

Mark 4:19

19 But the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches,

and the desires for other things entering in choke the word,

and it proves unfruitful.

19 and the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches,

and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word,

and it becometh unfruitful.

5) From a Book called God's Promises for you:

When you are Burdened by Doubt

James 1:2 to 8

Faith and Wisdom

2 My brothers, count it all joy when you fall into diverse temptations,

3 knowing that the trying of your faith develops patience.

4 But let patience perfect its work, that you may be perfect and complete,

lacking nothing.

5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all men

liberally and without criticism, and it will be given to him.

6 But let him ask in faith, without wavering. For he who wavers

is like a wave of the sea, driven and tossed with the wind.

7 Let not that man think that he will receive anything from the Lord.

8 A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways.

2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;

3 knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect

and entire, wanting nothing.

5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men

liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth

is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

Remember God's promises when You pray

The Lord's prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

9 "Therefore pray in this manner:

Our Father who is in heaven,

hallowed be Your name.

10 (Mt 3:2; 4:17) Your kingdom come;

Your will be done

on earth, as it is in heaven.

11 (Pr 30:8; Isa 33:16) Give us this day our daily bread.

12 (Ex 34:7; Ps 32:1) And forgive us our debts,

as we forgive our debtors.

13 (1Co 10:13; Jn 17:15) And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."

9 After this manner therefore pray ye:

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

11 Give us this day our daily bread.

12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

30 days of prayer for the Muslim World 24 April to 23 May 2020

Under the Keep Praying page

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month

and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days

of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that

usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,

of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be

decorated and festivals will be held.

For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the

distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of

Islam.

You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",

which means Blessed Eid!"

Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you

know, and Muslims around the world:

- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions

in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about

unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such

movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three

decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim

relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.

Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,

"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;

your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.

18 Even on My menservants and maidservants

I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.

19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below:

blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,

and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes.

21 And whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."[a]

And

Thank you for praying through the

5 Days of Prayer for Sikhs.

"My name is Kam. I'm 29 years of age, and I grew up Sikh. As a teenager,

I struggled with depression, brokenness, and addiction to

cannabis. I didn't know how to stop or how to get help.

Then a friend invited me to church. As I spent time with Christians

and heard the message of the Gospel, I experienced the

love of Jesus Christ, and it was like nothing I'd known before.

One night I had a dream where I saw Him - a figure surrounded by

light who I knew was Jesus, the light of the world.

As I began to understand the gospel message, I encountered a reassuring and

confident solution to the problem of sin. I knew that I needed a solution

to my sin problem, and I gave my life to Christ.

Slowly, God began to heal my broken heart and my addiction.

Nine years have passed, and I am a devoted husband and a father

to two beautiful boys. I grow deeper in love with Jesus each day.

I ask you to continue praying with me, and others around the world, for Sikhs.

God is the only one who can draw people to Himself. He works in and through

the prayers of His people. I want Sikhs to know the freedom

and healing that is only available through Jesus Christ."

13 (Ro 14:17; 12:12) Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy

and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope,

through the power of the Holy Spirit.
