Day 189, 8 July 2022

1) Psalms 107 , 111-114

Psalms 107

BOOK FIVE

Psalms 107–150

1 Oh, give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good,

for His mercy endures forever!

2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) Let the redeemed of the Lord speak out,

whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy,

3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) and gathered them from the lands,

from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south.

4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) They wandered in the wilderness on a deserted path;

they found no city to dwell in.

5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them.

6 (2Sa 17:22; Dt 3:8-9) Then they cried unto the Lord in their trouble,

and He delivered them out of their distresses.

7 (Ps 88:7; Jnh 2:3) He led them on a level road,

that they might go to a city to live in.

8 (Job 35:10; Ps 63:6) Let them praise the Lord for His goodness

and for His wonderful works to the people!

9 (Ps 38:6; 18:2) For He satisfies the longing soul

and fills the hungry soul with goodness.

10 (Ps 42:3; Joel 2:17) Some sit in darkness and in the shadow of death,

being prisoners in affliction and irons,

11 (Ps 42:5; 43:5) because they rebelled against the words of God

and rejected the counsel of the Most High.

12 Therefore He brought down their hearts with hard labor;

they fell down, and there was none to help.

13 Then they cried unto the Lord in their trouble,

and He delivered them out of their distress.

14 He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death

and broke apart their bonds.

15 Let them praise the Lord for His goodness

and for His wonderful works to the people!

16 For He has broken the gates of bronze

and cut the bars of iron in two.

17 Some were fools because of their transgressions,

and because of their iniquities they are afflicted.

18 They loathed all manner of food,

and they drew near to the gates of death.

19 Then they cried unto the Lord in their trouble,

and He saved them out of their distress.

20 He sent His word and healed them

and delivered them from their destruction.

21 Let them praise the Lord for His goodness

and for His wonderful works to the people!

22 And let them offer the sacrifices of thanksgiving

and declare His works with rejoicing.

23 Some went down to the sea in ships,

to do business in the vast waters;

24 they saw the works of the Lord

and His wonders in the deep water.

25 For He commands and raises the stormy wind,

which lifts up the sea waves.

26 The sailors went up to the sky, they came down to the depths;

their strength melted because of the great danger.

27 They reeled to and fro and staggered like drunken men,

and were completely confused.

28 Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble,

and He saved them out of their distress.

29 He made the storm calm, and the sea waves were still.

30 They were glad because the waters were quiet,

so He brought them to their desired harbour.

31 Let them praise the Lord for His goodness

and for His wonderful works to the people!

32 Let them exalt Him in the congregation of the people,

and praise him in the assembly of the elders.

33 He turns rivers into a desert,

water springs into dry ground,

34 a fruitful land into salty wasteland,

because of the wickedness of those living there.

35 He turns a wilderness into pools of water,

a parched ground into springs of water.

36 There He makes the hungry dwell, and they prepare a city to live in;

37 they sow fields and plant vineyards, and yield a fruitful harvest.

38 He blesses them, so that they are greatly multiplied,

and He does not let their livestock decrease.

39 But when they are diminished and brought down through oppression,

affliction, and sorrow,

40 He pours contempt upon princes,

and causes them to wander in a wilderness with no road;

41 yet He raises up the poor from affliction

and cares for their families like flocks of sheep.

42 The righteous shall see it and rejoice,

and all evil people shall stop their mouth.

43 Whoever is wise let him observe these things;

let them consider the lovingkindness of the Lord.

Psalm 107

[1] O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good:

For his mercy endureth for ever.

[2] Let the redeemed of the LORD say so,

Whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;

[3] And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west,

From the north, and from the south.

[4] They wandered in the wilderness in a solitary way;

They found no city to dwell in.

[5] Hungry and thirsty, Their soul fainted in them.

[6] Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble,

And he delivered them out of their distresses.

[7] And he led them forth by the right way,

That they might go to a city of habitation.

[8] Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness,

And for his wonderful works to the children of men!

[9] For he satisfieth the longing soul,

And filleth the hungry soul with goodness.

[10] Such as sit in darkness and in the shadow of death,

Being bound in affliction and iron;

[11] Because they rebelled against the words of God,

And contemned the counsel of the Most High:

[12] Therefore he brought down their heart with labour;

They fell down, and there was none to help.

[13] Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble,

And he saved them out of their distresses.

[14] He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death,

And brake their bands in sunder.

[15] Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness,

And for his wonderful works to the children of men!

[16] For he hath broken the gates of brass,

And cut the bars of iron in sunder.

[17] Fools because of their transgression,

And because of their iniquities, are afflicted.

[18] Their soul abhorreth all manner of meat;

And they draw near unto the gates of death.

[19] Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble,

And he saveth them out of their distresses.

[20] He sent his word, and healed them,

And delivered them from their destructions.

[21] Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness,

And for his wonderful works to the children of men!

[22] And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving,

And declare his works with rejoicing.

[23] They that go down to the sea in ships, That do business in great waters;

[24] These see the works of the LORD, And his wonders in the deep.

[25] For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind,

Which lifteth up the waves thereof.

[26] They mount up to the heaven, they go down again to the depths:

Their soul is melted because of trouble.

[27] They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man,

And are at their wits' end.

[28] Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble,

And he bringeth them out of their distresses.

[29] He maketh the storm a calm,

So that the waves thereof are still.

[30] Then are they glad because they be quiet;

So he bringeth them unto their desired haven.

[31] Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness,

And for his wonderful works to the children of men!

[32] Let them exalt him also in the congregation of the people,

And praise him in the assembly of the elders.

[33] He turneth rivers into a wilderness,

And the watersprings into dry ground;

[34] A fruitful land into barrenness,

For the wickedness of them that dwell therein.

[35] He turneth the wilderness into a standing water,

And dry ground into watersprings.

[36] And there he maketh the hungry

To dwell, that they may prepare a city for habitation;

[37] And sow the fields, and plant vineyards,

Which may yield fruits of increase.

[38] He blesseth them also, so that they are multiplied greatly;

And suffereth not their cattle to decrease.

[39] Again, they are minished and brought low

Through oppression, affliction, and sorrow.

[40] He poureth contempt upon princes,

And causeth them to wander in the wilderness, where there is no way.

[41] Yet setteth he the poor on high from affliction,

And maketh him families like a flock.

[42] The righteous shall see it, and rejoice:

And all iniquity shall stop her mouth.

[43] Whoso is wise, and will observe these things,

Even they shall understand the lovingkindness of the LORD.

2) Our Daily Bread for 8 July 2022

Entitled Food That Says I Love You

Luke 22:14-20

The Lord's Supper

Mt 26:26-30; Mk 14:22-26; 1Co 11:23-25

14 (Mt 26:20; Mk 14:17) When the hour had come, He and the twelve apostles

with Him sat down.

15 And He said to them, "I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover

with you before I suffer.

16 (Lk 14:15; Rev 19:9) For I tell you, I will never eat it again

until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God."

17 And He took the cup and gave thanks and said,

"Take this and divide it among yourselves.

18 (Mt 26:29; Mk 14:25) For I tell you, I will not drink of the fruit

of the vine until the kingdom of God comes."

19 (1Co 10:16; Mt 26:26-28) Then He took the bread, and when He had given

thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying,

"This is My body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of Me."

20 (Ex 24:8; Zec 9:11) In like manner, He took the cup after supper, saying,

"This cup is the new covenant in My blood which is shed for you.

[14] And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles

with him.

[15] And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover

with you before I suffer:

[16] for I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof,

until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.

[17] And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this,

and divide it among yourselves:

[18] for I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine,

until the kingdom of God shall come.

[19] And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them,

saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. [20] Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new

testament in my blood, which is shed for you.

I attended a family birthday gathering where the hostess wove the theme of

"favorite things" into the decor, the gifts, and-best of all-the food.

Because the birthday girl loved steak and salad-and white chocolate raspberry

Bundt cake-the hostess grilled steak, spun spinach, and ordered that favourite

cake. Favourite foods say, "I love you."

The Bible contains many references to banquets, feasts, and festivals, pairing

the physical act of eating with celebrations of God's faithfulness. Feasting

was a part of the sacrificial system of worship practiced by the Israelites

(see Numbers 28:11-31), with Passover, the festival of weeks, and new moon

feasts held every month. And in Psalm 23:5, God prepares a table with an

abundant meal and cups overflow with mercy and love. Perhaps the most lavish

pairing of food and wine ever expressed was when Jesus broke a piece of bread

and took a cup of wine, illustrating the gift of His death on a cross for our

salvation. He then challenged us to "do this in remembrance of me" (Luke

22:19).

As you partake of food today, take a moment to consider the God who made both

mouth and stomach and offers food to you as a language of His love in

celebration of His faithfulness. Ours is a God who feasts with the faithful,

pairing His perfect provision with our great need, saying, "I love you."

Reflect & Pray

What is a favorite food that you use in celebration?

How can you thank God as you enjoy food today?

Thank You, God, for all You faithfully provide,

including my daily bread and my very salvation.

3) Daily verses taken from Billy Graham Evangelical Organisation

Words in Season Scripture Memory Tools

Week 2 - Saved by Grace - Day 6 - It is Finished

John 5:24

24 (Jn 3:18; 1Jn 3:14; Jn 3:36) "Truly, truly I say to you, whoever hears

My word and believes in Him who sent Me has eternal life

and shall not come into condemnation, but has passed from death into life. "

[24] Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth

on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into

condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

"PLEASE BE PATIENT - GOD IS NOT FINISHED WITH ME YET,"

the sweatshirt read. In this case, the message was an ironic one,

for the occupant of the shirt was a snaggle-toothed, freckle-faced six year

old!

In one sense, God is not finished with the work he has to do in each of us.

Life in Christ is an ongoing process of change and growth as we become

more like him. Certainly, the more we see of ourselves, the more we hope

he isn't finished with us!

Yet whatever plans God has for making us into the men and women he created

us to be, certain aspects of our life in Christ are finished, finalised.

Jesus declares with absolute assurance, "whoever hears

My word and believes in Him who sent Me has eternal life

and shall not come into condemnation, but has passed from death into life. "

Because we do not have to earn or deserve God's grace, because we are not

called to prove ourselves worthy of Salvation, we can have immediate

and total assurance of the security of life in Jesus Christ. The one who

put his trust in the Lord has eternal life; he will not be condemned;

he has crossed over from death to life.

This "crossing over" into life happens in the split second when we acknowledge

our dependence upon Christ alone. And the rest of our lives is given over to

the development of his image in us.

God is not finished with us yet.

But his work of salvation is finished - complete,

fully dependable an accomplished fact.

Application

a) Have I ever doubted the "accomplished fact" of my own salvation? Why?

b) How can today's verse help me realise that, although I may have a lot of

growing yet to do, my salvation in Jesus Christ is secure?

4) From Prosperity Promises - Kenneth Copeland

Luke 12:15

15 Then He said to them, "Take heed and beware of covetousness.

For a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions."

15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's

life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.

5) From a Book called God's Promises for you:

When you are Impatient

Ps 37:3-9

3 Trust in the Lord, and do good;

dwell in the land, and practice faithfulness.

4 Delight yourself in the Lord,

and He will give you the desires of your heart.

5 Commit your way to the Lord;

trust also in Him, and He will bring it to pass.

6 He will bring forth your righteousness as the light,

and your judgment as the noonday.

7 Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him;

do not fret because of those who prosper in their way,

because of those who make wicked schemes.

8 Let go of anger, and forsake wrath;

do not fret-it surely leads to evil deeds.

9 For evildoers will be cut off,

but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the earth.

Bet

3 Trust in the LORD, and do good;

So shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.

4 Delight thyself also in the LORD;

And he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

Gimel

5 Commit thy way unto the LORD; Trust also in him;

And he shall bring it to pass.

6 And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light,

And thy judgment as the noonday.

Dalet

7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him:

Fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way,

because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

He

8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath:

Fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.

9 For evildoers shall be cut off:

But those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.

Remember God's promises when You pray

The Lord's prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

9 "Therefore pray in this manner:

Our Father who is in heaven,

hallowed be Your name.

10 (Mt 3:2; 4:17) Your kingdom come;

Your will be done

on earth, as it is in heaven.

11 (Pr 30:8; Isa 33:16) Give us this day our daily bread.

12 (Ex 34:7; Ps 32:1) And forgive us our debts,

as we forgive our debtors.

13 (1Co 10:13; Jn 17:15) And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."

9 After this manner therefore pray ye:

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

11 Give us this day our daily bread.

12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

30 days of prayer for the Muslim World 24 April to 23 May 2020

Under the Keep Praying page

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month

and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days

of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that

usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,

of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be

decorated and festivals will be held.

For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the

distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of

Islam.

You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",

which means Blessed Eid!"

Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you

know, and Muslims around the world:

- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions

in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about

unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such

movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three

decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim

relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.

Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,

"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;

your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.

18 Even on My menservants and maidservants

I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.

19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below:

blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,

and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes.

21 And whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."[a]

discipleship movements among Muslim people.

- Ask the Holy Spirit to continue to inspire you to have god's heart for

Muslims, to see them as He does, and to be the light that then to Jesus.

Matthew 5:14-15 : 14 "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a

hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do men light a candle and put it under

a basket, but on a candlestick. And it gives light to all who are in the

house."

Ideas for prayer

- Pray for opportunities to show the love of Christ to Muslims around you

Christ among Muslim people -

Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."

throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days!

And

Thank you for praying through the

5 Days of Prayer for Sikhs.

"My name is Kam. I'm 29 years of age, and I grew up Sikh. As a teenager,

I struggled with depression, brokenness, and addiction to

cannabis. I didn't know how to stop or how to get help.

Then a friend invited me to church. As I spent time with Christians

and heard the message of the Gospel, I experienced the

love of Jesus Christ, and it was like nothing I'd known before.

One night I had a dream where I saw Him - a figure surrounded by

light who I knew was Jesus, the light of the world.

As I began to understand the gospel message, I encountered a reassuring and

confident solution to the problem of sin. I knew that I needed a solution

to my sin problem, and I gave my life to Christ.

Slowly, God began to heal my broken heart and my addiction.

Nine years have passed, and I am a devoted husband and a father

to two beautiful boys. I grow deeper in love with Jesus each day.

I ask you to continue praying with me, and others around the world, for Sikhs.

God is the only one who can draw people to Himself. He works in and through

the prayers of His people. I want Sikhs to know the freedom

and healing that is only available through Jesus Christ."

13 (Ro 14:17; 12:12) Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy

and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope,

through the power of the Holy Spirit.

[13] Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that

ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.
