PSalms 65,66,67,69,70

PSALMS 65

For the Music Director. A Psalm of David. A Song.

1 Praise awaits You, O God, in Zion;

and to You a vow will be fulfilled.

2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) O You who hears prayer,

to You all flesh will come.

3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) Iniquities are stronger than me;

as for our transgressions, You atone for them.

4 ( Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) Blessed is the man You choose and allow to draw near;

he will dwell in Your courts.

We will be satisfied with the goodness of Your house,

even of Your holy temple.

5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) In righteousness You will answer us gloriously,

O God of our salvation,

You, who are the confidence of all the ends of the earth,

and of those who are afar off on the sea;

6 (2Sa 17:22; Dt 3:8-9) who established the mountains by His strength,

being clothed with might;

7 (Ps 88:7; Jnh 2:3) who stills the noise of the seas,

the noise of their waves,

and the tumult of peoples.

8 (Job 35:10; Ps 63:6) Those who dwell in the uttermost parts

are in awe because of Your signs;

You make the going out of the morning and evening rejoice.

9 (Ps 38:6; 18:2 ) You visit the earth, and water it;

You enrich it

with the river of God, which is full of water;

You prepare their grain,

for thus You have established it.

10 (Ps 42:3; Joel 2:17) You water its furrows abundantly;

You settle its ridges;

You soften it with showers;

You bless its sprouting.

11 (Ps 42:5; 43:5) You crown the year with Your goodness,

and Your paths drip abundance.

12 They drip on the pastures of the wilderness,

and the hills clothe themselves with rejoicing.

13 The pastures are clothed with flocks;

the valleys also are covered with grain;

they shout for joy, they also sing.

PSALMS 66

For the Music Director. A Song. A Psalm.

1 Shout joyfully to God, all you lands!

2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2)Sing out the glory of His name;

make His praise glorious.

3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) Say to God, "How awesome are Your works!

Through the greatness of Your power

Your enemies cringe before You.

4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8 ) All the earth will worship You

and will sing to You;

they will sing to Your name." Selah

5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) Come and see the works of God;

He is awesome in His doings toward mankind.

6 (2Sa 17:22; Dt 3:8-9) He turned the sea into dry land;

they crossed the river on foot;

there we rejoiced in Him.

7 (Ps 88:7; Jnh 2:3) He rules by His power forever;

His eyes keep watch on the nations;

do not let the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah

8 (Job 35:10; Ps 63:6) Oh, bless our God, you people,

and make the voice of His praise to be heard,

9 (Ps 38:6; 18:2) who keeps our soul among the living,

and does not allow our feet to slip.

10 (Ps 42:3; Joel 2:17) For You, O God, have proved us;

You have refined us, as silver is refined.

11 (Ps 42:5; 43:5) You brought us into the net;

You placed distress on our backs.

12 You have allowed people to ride over our heads;

we went through fire and through water;

but You brought us out into a well-watered place.

13 I will go into Your house with burnt offerings;

I will fulfill my vows to You,

14which my lips have uttered,

and my mouth spoke when I was in trouble.

15 I will offer You burnt sacrifices of fat animals,

with the incense of rams;

I will offer bulls with goats. Selah

16 Come and hear, all you who fear God,

and I will declare what He has done for my soul.

17 I cried to Him with my mouth,

and He was extolled with my tongue.

18 If I regard iniquity in my heart,

the Lord will not hear me;

19 but certainly God has heard me;

He has attended to the voice of my prayer.

20 Blessed be God,

who has not turned away my prayer,

nor His mercy from me.

PSALMS 67

For the Music Director. With stringed instruments. A Psalm. A Song.

1 May God be gracious to us, and bless us,

and cause His face to shine on us; Selah

2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) that Your way may be known on earth,

Your salvation among all nations.

3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) Let the peoples praise You, O God;

let all the peoples praise You.

4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) Oh, let the nations be glad and sing for joy;

for You will judge the people uprightly,

and lead the nations on earth. Selah

5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) Let the peoples praise You, O God;

let all the peoples praise You.

6 (2Sa 17:22; Dt 3:8-9) Then will the earth yield its produce,

and God, our God, will bless us.

7 (Ps 88:7; Jnh 2:3) God will bless us,

and all the ends of the earth will fear Him.

PSALMS 69

For the Music Director. To the melody of "Lilies." A Psalm of David.

1 Save me, O God!

For the waters have come up to my throat.

2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) I sink in deep mire;

there is no standing place;

I have come into the watery depths,

and a stream overflows me.

3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) I am weary of my crying;

my throat is parched;

my eyes fail

while I wait for my God.

4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) Those who hate me without cause

are more than the hairs of my head;

they are mighty

who would destroy me, being my wrongful enemies,

so that I must pay back

what I did not steal.

5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) O God, You know my folly,

and my sins are not hidden from You.

6 (2Sa 17:22; Dt 3:8-9) May those who wait on You,

O Lord God of Hosts,

not be ashamed because of me;

may those who seek You

not be humiliated because of me,

O God of Israel.

7 (Ps 88:7; Jnh 2:3) Because for Your sake I have endured insult;

humiliation has covered my face.

8 (Job 35:10; Ps 63:6) I have become estranged to my relatives,

and a foreigner to my mother's children;

9 (Ps 38:6; 18:2) for the zeal of Your house has consumedme,

and the insults of those who insulted You fell on me.

10 (Ps 42:3; Joel 2:17) When I wept with fasting for my soul,

it became an insult to me.

11 (Ps 42:5; 43:5) I also made sackcloth my garment,

and I became a byword to them.

12 Those who sit in the gate speak against me,

and I am the song of the drunkards.

13 But as for me, my prayer is to You, O Lord;

in an acceptable time, O God,

in the abundance of Your mercy,

answer me in the truth of Your salvation.

14 Deliver me out of the mire

that I may not sink;

may I be delivered from those who hateme,

and out of the watery depths.

15 May the stream not overflow me;

neither may the deep swallow me up,

nor the pit close its mouth on me.

16 Answer me, O Lord, for Your lovingkindness is good;

turn Your face to me according to the abundance of Your tender mercies.

17 Do not hide Your face from Your servant,

for I am in trouble; answer me quickly.

18 Draw near to my soul, and redeem it;

deliver me because of my enemies.

19 You have known how I am insulted, and my shame and my dishonor;

my adversaries are all before You.

20 Insults have broken my heart,

and I am sick;

and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none;

and for comforters, but I found none.

21 They also gave me poison for my food,

and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.

22 May their table become a snare before them,

and may security become a trap.

23 May their eyes be darkened so they do not see,

and make their sides shake continually.

24 Pour out Your indignation on them,

and may Your wrathful anger overtake them.

25 May their habitation be desolate,

and may no one dwell in their tents.

26 For they persecute him whom You have struck down,

and they recount the pain of those You have wounded.

27 Add punishment to their iniquity,

and do not let them come into Your righteousness.

28 Let them be blotted out of the book of the living,

and not be written along with the righteous.

29 But I am poor and in pain;

may Your salvation, O God, set me secure on high.

30 I will praise the name of God with a song,

and will magnify Him with thanksgiving.

31 This also will please the Lord

more than an ox or bull with horns and hoofs.

32 The humble will see this and be glad;

and you who seek God, may your heart live.

33 For the Lord hears the poor,

and does not despise His prisoners.

34 Let heaven and earth praise Him,

the seas and everything that moves in them.

35 For God will save Zion,

and will build the cities of Judah;

that they may dwell there, and take possession of it.

36 The descendants of His servants will inherit it;

and those who love His name will dwell in it.

PSALMS 70

Ps 40:13-17

For the Music Director. A Psalm of David. To bring remembrance.

1 Make haste, O God, to deliver me!

Make haste to help me, O Lord.

2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) May those who seek my life

be ashamed and confused;

may those who desire my harm

be driven back and humiliated.

3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) May they turn back as a consequence of their shame

who say "Aha! Aha!"

4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) May all those who seek You

rejoice and be glad in You;

and may those who love Your salvation continually say,

"God be magnified!"

5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) But I am poor and needy;

make haste to me, O God!

You are my help and my deliverer;

O Lord, do not delay!

2) Our Daily Bread for 11 May 2021

https://odb.org/CA/2021/05/11/listening-to-wise-advice

entitled Listening to Wise Advice

Proverbs 12:2–15

2 (Pr 8:35) A good man obtains favor of the Lord,

but a man of wicked devices will He condemn.

3 (Pr 10:25) A man will not be established by wickedness,

but the root of the righteous will not be moved.

4 (Pr 14:30; Hab 3:16) A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband,

but she who brings shame is as rottenness in his bones.

5 The thoughts of the righteous are right,

but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.

6 (Pr 14:3) The words of the wicked are, "Lie in wait for blood,"

but the mouth of the upright will deliver them.

7 (Pr 10:25; 11:21) The wicked are overthrown, and are not,

but the house of the righteous will stand.

8 A man will be commended according to his wisdom,

but he who is of a perverse heart will be despised.

9 He who is lightly esteemed and has a servant is better

than he who honors himself and lacks bread.

10 (Dt 25:4) A righteous man regards the life of his animal,

but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

11 (Pr 28:19; Jdg 9:4) He who tills his land will be satisfied with bread,

but he who follows vain persons is void of understanding.

12 (Ps 10:9) The wicked covet the plunder of evil men,

but the root of the righteous yields fruit.

13 (2Pe 2:9; Ps 64:8) The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips,

but the just will come out of trouble.

14 (Pr 13:2; Isa 3:10-11) A man will be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth,

and the recompense of a man’s hands will be rendered to him.

15 (Pr 16:2; 16:25) The way of a fool is right in his own eyes,

but he who listens to counsel is wise.

During the American Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln once found himself

wanting to please a politician, so he issued a command to transfer certain

Union Army regiments. When the secretary of war, Edwin Stanton, received

the order, he refused to carry it out. He said that the president was a fool.

Lincoln was told what Stanton had said, and he replied: "If Stanton said

I'm a fool, then I must be, for he is nearly always right.

I'll see for myself." As the two men talked, the president quickly realized

that his decision was a serious mistake, and without hesitation he withdrew

it. Though Stanton had called Lincoln a fool, the president proved wise

by not digging in his heels when Stanton disagreed with him.

Instead, Lincoln listened to advice, considered it, and changed his mind.

Have you ever encountered someone who simply wouldn't listen to wise advice?

(See 1 Kings 12:1–11.)

1 KINGS 12

Israel Rebels Against Rehoboam

2Ch 10:1-11:4

1 (2Ch 10:1-19) And Rehoboam went to Shechem, for all Israel had gone

to Shechem to make him king.

2 (1Ki 11:40) When Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who was still in Egypt,

heard of it (for he had fled from King Solomon and stayed in Egypt),

3 they called and sent for him. And Jeroboam and all the congregation

of Israel came and spoke to Rehoboam, saying,

4 (1Sa 8:11-18; 1Ki 4:7) "Your father made our yoke unbearable. Now,

therefore, make the grievous service to your father and the heavy yoke

he put upon us lighter, and we will serve you."

5 He said to them, "Depart for three days, and then come back to me."

And the people departed.

6 (Job 12:12; 32:7) King Rehoboam consulted with the old men

who advised his father Solomon while he was still alive and asked,

"How do you advise me to answer the people?"

7 (Pr 15:1) And they spoke to him, saying, "If you will be a servant

to this people this day and will serve them and answer them

and speak kind words to them, they will be your servants forever."

8 But he rejected the advice that the old men gave him and consulted

with the young men who grew up with him and who stood before him,

9 and he said to them, "What advice do you give on how we should

answer this people, who have spoken to me saying,

'Make the yoke your father put on us lighter'?"

10 And the young men who grew up with him said, "Thus shall you answer t

his people who said to you, 'Your father made our yoke heavy, but make it

lighter for us'; thus shall you say to them, 'My little finger

will be thicker than my father’' loins!

11 Whereas my father loaded you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your burden.

My father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions!' "

It can be infuriating, can't it? Or, even more personal, have you ever refused

to listen to advice? As Proverbs 12:15 says, “The way of a fool is right in

his own eyes, but he who listens to counsel is wise.” People may not always

be right, but the same goes for us! Knowing that everyone makes mistakes,

only fools assume they’re the exception. Instead, let's exercise godly wisdom

and listen to the wise advice of others-even if we initially disagree.

Sometimes that's exactly how God works for our good (v. 2).

By: Con Campbell

Reflect & Pray

Why are you sometimes reluctant to listen to the wise advice of others?

How can you be sure the advice you receive reflects true wisdom?

God of wisdom, teach me Your ways and help me to avoid folly.

Thank You for putting others in my life who are in a position to offer helpful

advice when I need it.

Week 6 Showing Grace to Others - Day 3 The Kind Heart of Forgiveness

Eph 4:32

32 (2Co 2:10; Col 3:12–13; Mt 6:12)And be kind one to another,

tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ also forgave you.

Don had lost his job because he sttod against his boss and refused to

comprimise his Christian principles. Certain friends in the company had

turned against him, choosing to save their own jobs at any cost,

and he felt very alone, abandoned when he most needed the support

of those who cared.

But Don showed no signs of bitterness or unforgiveness. He refused to

recite the details of his firing to those around him, saying simply and

honestly, " I beleive my boss was wrong in what he did. But God can show

him." The kindness of Don's heart ., and the tenderness with which he

extended forgiveness, became a testimony to all who knew him. Don's

boss never "saw the light", never repented, but Don lived in the freedom of

forgiving.

Comparison is a rare commodity among Christains today. We seem to be

overstocked with judgment and crammed fukk of condemnation, but we have

little space in the corners of our lives for tenderheartedness. We are quick

to assume that we know another person's heart and have the remedy for

the problem, rather then giving that person the benefit of the doubt,

the room to grow, the freedom to make a mistake and seek forgiveness.

Jesus demonstrated the king compassion necessary in forgivemess when he

looked down at the soldiers who has crucified him, gambling at his feet

for his cloak, and said, "Father , forgive them, for they do not know what

are doing."

When others hurt and betray us, they often "do not know what they are

doing." we can, in Christ, offer compassionate forgiveness to them -

not condoning their actions or excusing their wrong, but forgiving ,

in the simplicity and purity of God's love.

Application

a) What is the difference between excusing a wrong and forgiving?

b) How has God forgiven me for Christ's sake?

c) What does today's verse tell me about my attitude in forgiveness?

4) From Prosperity Promises - Kenneth Copeland

Mark 4:19

19 But the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches,

and the desires for other things entering in choke the word,

and it proves unfruitful.

5) From a Book called God's Promises for you:

When you are Burdened by Doubt

James 1:2 to 8

Faith and Wisdom

2 My brothers, count it all joy when you fall into diverse temptations,

3 knowing that the trying of your faith develops patience.

4 But let patience perfect its work, that you may be perfect and complete,

lacking nothing.

5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all men

liberally and without criticism, and it will be given to him.

6 But let him ask in faith, without wavering. For he who wavers

is like a wave of the sea, driven and tossed with the wind.

7 Let not that man think that he will receive anything from the Lord.

8 A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways.

The Lord's Prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

9 "Therefore pray in this manner:

Our Father who is in heaven,

hallowed be Your name.

10 (Mt 3:2; 4:17) Your kingdom come;

Your will be done

on earth, as it is in heaven.

11 (Pr 30:8; Isa 33:16) Give us this day our daily bread.

12 (Ex 34:7; Ps 32:1) And forgive us our debts,

as we forgive our debtors.

13 (1Co 10:13; Jn 17:15) And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."

Quick facts on Muslims in Ontario

Ontation 2015 population 13 687 7000

est Muslim Population 1 001 542

CNMM Networks: Ottawa, Durham, York, Toronto, Mississauga, Halton, Hamilton,

Niagara, Kitchener, London, Windsor

Ontario has 55% of all of Canada's entire Muslim population. This means that

the whole of the Muslim world is represented somewhere in this province. Most

Musslims are understandably located along the southern border stretching

from Windsor eastward all the way up to Ottawa. Yet Muslims are constantly

resettling in more and more suburban and even small towns of Ontari. Mosques

are springing up, and where there are enough gathered, Islamic schools

are starting.

And they're not comlacent, either. Many Islamic leaders are energetic in their

advancement of Islam in Canadian society. Recently in the Niagara Region,

the local mosqoe distributed via Canada Post as many as 50000 full-colour

brochures on Islam. An that mosque's Facebook page proudly show pictures of

"reverts", or white Canadians who havve converted to Islam as a result of

receiving the flier and engaging with the mosque community. Antoerh town

reports Muslims going door-to-door evangelism.

Agree in prayer for:

- net network leaders - the need is great

- the development of network leadership teams

- good connectiosn with local pastors, congregations and individuals

whom God is calling into this ministry.

- wisdom facilitating outreach and training activities for mobilising

believers

- new full and part-time workers among Muslims throughout all these areas

- for pastors and churches to respond not in fear, but full of faith and love

towards Muslims, sharing Jesus with them.

DETROIT'S BANGLATOWN

MOSQUES AND MADRASSAS PROVIDE A SLICE OF HOME

"Matt, let’s walk over and share with those kids," said Mark,

a Christian missionary, to his teenage son.

Mark and Matt were in the Banglatown district, a part of Motor City offering

a slice of home to immigrants from Bangladesh. Here, once-empty church

buildings now serve as mosques and madrassas (Islamic schools).

After visiting a mosque, Mark and Matt noticed a group of 10 Bengali

boys sitting on the stoop of a madrassa across the street.

Their young teacher was leading a study of the Qur'an.

Mark said hello to the teacher and asked the boys what they were learning.

"We spend two hours every Saturday and Sunday learning Arabic

and Islamic teaching," answered one boy.

"Wow, what dedicated little scholars," said Mark.

"Has anyone ever taught you the meaning of the Incil (gospel)?"

They shook their heads and answered no.

Many Muslim Americans have never heard Christ's message.

"Do you know what Incil means? It means good news, good news

for Judgment Day. Have you learned what that good news is?"

The teacher and the boys again shook their heads no.

"Well, can Mark share it with you?"

The teacher and the boys smiled and said yes.

Mark sat down on the stoop and talked to the boy scholars about Jesus.

They and their teacher were amazed.

As Mark was talking with the boys,

the mosque van pulled up to take them home.

As they boarded the van, some of the boys asked,

"When can you return so that we can hear more?"

Pray for madrassa boys in Banglatown and other cities.

Pray that local churches equip young people to be disciple makers

who can share Jesus with others.

Banglatown was once filled with thriving churches and parish schools.

Pray that local churches catch a vision for engaging Banglatown

with the gospel.

Pray for many more laborers to enter Banglatown, share abundantly,
