PSALMS 1

BOOK ONE

Psalms 1-41

1 Blessed is the man

who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,

nor stands in the path of sinners,

nor sits in the seat of scoffers;

2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) but his delight is in the law of the Lord,

and in His law he meditates day and night.

3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) He will be like a tree planted by the rivers of water,

that brings forth its fruit in its season;

its leaf will not wither,

and whatever he does will prosper.

4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) The ungodly are not so,

but are like the chaff

which the wind drives away.

PSALMS 2

PSALMS 15

A Psalm of David.

1 Lord, who will abide in Your tabernacle?

Who will dwell in Your holy hill?

2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2 )He who walks uprightly,

and does righteousness,

and speaks truth in his heart;

and does no evil to his neighbor,

1 My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?

Why are You so far from deliveringme,

and from my roaring words of distress?

my only life from the power of the dog.

and from the horns of the wild ox, answer me!

22 I will declare Your name to my community;

in the midst of the congregation I will praise You.

23 You who fear the Lord, praise Him;

all you descendants of Jacob, glorify Him,

and stand in awe of Him, all you descendants of Israel.

24 For He has not despised nor abhorred

the affliction of the afflicted;

nor has He hid His face from him;

but when he cried to Him, He heard.

25 From You my praise will be in the great congregation;

I will pay my vows before those who fear Him.

26 The meek will eat and be satisfied;

those who seek Him will praise the Lord.

May your hearts live forever.

27 All the ends of the world

will remember and turn to the Lord,

and all the families of the nations

will worship before You.

28 For kingship belongs to the Lord,

and He rules among the nations.

29 All the prosperous ones of the earth will eat and worship;

all who go down to the dust will bow before Him,

even he who cannot keep his own soul alive.

30 Posterity will serve Him;

it will be told to generations about the Lord;

31 they will come and declare His righteousness

to a people yet to be born,

that He has acted.



PSALMS 24

A Psalm of David.

1 The earth belongs to the Lord, and its fullness,

the world, and those who dwell in it.

2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) For He has founded it on the seas,

and established it on the floods.

3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) Who may ascend the hill of the Lord?

Who may stand in His holy place?

4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) He who has clean hands and a pure heart;

who has not lifted up his soul unto vanity,

nor sworn deceitfully.

5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) He will receive the blessing from the Lord,

and righteousness from the God of his salvation.

6 (2Sa 17:22; Dt 3:8-9) This is Jacob, the generation of those who seek Him,

1 Let God arise, let His enemies be scattered;

let those who hate Him flee before Him.

2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2 ) As smoke is driven away,

You drive them away;

as wax melts before the fire,

so may the wicked perish before God.

3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) But let the righteous be glad;

let them rejoice before God;

let them rejoice exceedingly.

4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) Sing to God, sing praises to His name;

raise a song to Him who rides through the deserts—

His name is the Lord;

16 Why are you envious, you mountains of many peaks?

This is the mountain which God desires to dwell in;

yes, the Lord will dwell in it forever.

17 The chariots of God are twice ten thousand, even thousands of thousands;

the Lord is among them, as in Sinai, in the holy place.

18 You have ascended on high,

You have led captivity captive;

You have received gifts from people,

yes, even from the rebellious,

that the Lord God might dwell among them.

19 Blessed be the Lord, who daily loads us with benefits,

even the God who is our salvation. Selah

20 That God is for us, the God of saving acts;

and to God the Lord belongs escape from death.

21 But God will shatter the head of His enemies,

and the scalp of one who walks in his trespasses.

I will bring my people again from the depths of the sea,

23 that your foot may stomp in the blood of your enemies,

and the tongue of your dogs may have a portion in it."

24 They have seen Your processions, O God,

26 Bless God in the congregations,

the Lord, from the fountain of Israel.

27 There is little Benjamin leading them,

the princes of Judah and their throng of people,

28 Your God has commanded your strength;

strengthen, O God, what You have done for us.

29 From Your temple above Jerusalem,

kings will bring gifts to You.

30 Rebuke the animals that live among the reeds,

the herd of bulls, with the calves of the people,

until everyone submits himself with pieces of silver;

scatter peoples who delight in war.

31 Ambassadors will come out of Egypt;

Ethiopia will stretch out its hands to God.

Daniel 3:13-18,25-27



13 (Da 2:12; 3:19) Then Nebuchadnezzar in his rage

and fury commanded Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego be brought.

Then they brought these men before the king.

14 (Isa 46:1; Jer 50:2) Nebuchadnezzar spoke and said to them,

"Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, that you do not serve

my gods or worship the golden image which I have set up?

15 (Ex 5:2; 2Ki 18:35) Now if you are ready at the time you hear the sound

of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer,

and all kinds of music to fall down and worship the image

which I have made, very well. But if you do not worship,

you shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.

And who is that god who can deliver you out of my hands?"

16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered and said to the king,

"O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to give you an answer in this matter.

17 (Job 5:19; Ps 27:1-2) If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver

us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us out of your hand,

O king.

18 (Isa 51:12-13) But even if He does not, be it known to you, O king,

that we will not serve your gods, nor worship the golden image

which you have set up."

25 (Isa 43:2; Job 1:6) He answered and said, "But I see four men loose

and walking in the midst of the fire, and they are unharmed.

And the form of the fourth is like the Son of God!"



Nebuchadnezzar Praises God



26 (Da 3:17; 4:2) Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning

fiery furnace, and spoke, and said,

"Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, you servants of the Most High God,

come out and come here!"

Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego came out of the midst of the fire.

27 (Heb 11:34; Isa 43:2) The officials, governors, and captains,

and the king's counselors, being gathered together, saw these men

upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was a hair of their head singed,

neither were their coats changed, nor had the smell of fire even come upon them.



When two firefighters, weary and sooty, stopped at a restaurant for breakfast,

the waitress recognized the men from the news and realized they'd

spent the night battling a warehouse fire. To show her appreciation,

she wrote a note on their bill, "Your breakfast is on me today.

Thank you . . . for serving others and for running into the places everyone

else runs away from. . . . Fueled by fire and driven by courage,

what an example you are."



In the Old Testament, we see an example of courage in the actions

of three young men: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego (Daniel 3).

Instead of obeying the mandate to bow down to a statue of the Babylonian king,

these young men courageously showed their love for God through their refusal.

Their penalty was to be thrown into a blazing furnace. Yet the men didn't

back down: "If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve

is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty's

hand. But even if he does not . . . we will not serve your gods or worship

the image of gold" (vv. 17-18).



God did rescue them and even walked with them in the fire (vv. 25-27).

In our fiery trials and troubles today, we too have the assurance

that God is with us. He is able.

Week 5 Rejoice in Grace - Day 3 The song of Exaltation



Exodus 15:2



2 The Lord is my strength and song,

and He has become my salvation.

He is my God, and I will praise Him;

my father's God, and I will exalt Him.



The world is full of music that communicates human emotion: love, joy, sadness, separation.

A love song makes us misty-eyed; a song of protest arouses anger; a song

describing loss stimulates feelings of hurt and abandonment. Music is a powerful force to sway

the human spirit.

Exodus 15:2 indicates that God should be the source of the songs in our hearts.

Human emotions vacillate; human relationships disappoint, but God is our "strenght" and our "song".

To exalt the Lord includes many different type of "songs".

"I can't carry a tune in a bucket," one woman complained. "How can I sing to the Lord

anything that will be pleasing to him?" But the Lord does not delight in the

professionalisn of our songs, but in the motivation of our hearts.

We can "sing to the Lord" when we enjoy a Bach organ piece played for his glory.

We can exalt him in the words of Scripture - either remembered or sung.

We can worship him by enjoying the songs of others.

The key to making the Lord our song is exaltation. When our thoughts lift him up in

praise, we are singing a song of exaltation to the Lord.

When God is exlted in our songs, in our hearts, and in our thoughts, that focus gives

strength to our lives. We can face the difficulties that are an inevitable

part of experience, because God is our "strengh and our song".

Ontario has 55% of all of Canada's entire Muslim population. This means that

the whole of the Muslim world is represented somewhere in this province. Most

Musslims are understandably located along the southern border stretching

from Windsor eastward all the way up to Ottawa. Yet Muslims are constantly

resettling in more and more suburban and even small towns of Ontari. Mosques

are springing up, and where there are enough gathered, Islamic schools

are starting.

And they're not comlacent, either. Many Islamic leaders are energetic in their

advancement of Islam in Canadian society. Recently in the Niagara Region,

the local mosqoe distributed via Canada Post as many as 50000 full-colour

brochures on Islam. An that mosque's Facebook page proudly show pictures of

"reverts", or white Canadians who havve converted to Islam as a result of

receiving the flier and engaging with the mosque community. Antoerh town

reports Muslims going door-to-door evangelism.

Agree in prayer for:



- net network leaders - the need is great

- the development of network leadership teams

- good connectiosn with local pastors, congregations and individuals

whom God is calling into this ministry.

- wisdom facilitating outreach and training activities for mobilising

believers

- new full and part-time workers among Muslims throughout all these areas

- for pastors and churches to respond not in fear, but full of faith and love

towards Muslims, sharing Jesus with them.

THE BANTU PEOPLES OF AFRICA

SOMALI BANTU IN THE BUCKEYE STATE



The Bantu peoples of Africa-more than 350 million of them-

speak hundreds of different versions of Bantu languages

in Zimbabwe, South Africa, Tanzania, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.



Among the many challenges the Somali Bantu living in Ohio face is the lack of

a Bible in their language. But that doesn’' stop Christians from serving them.



"We started laboring to share Jesus Christ with the Somali Bantu refugees

15 years ago," said one believer. "As a minority group from remote villages

in Somalia, they had never been to school. They resettled

in the United States and struggled with basic literacy, finding jobs, and more.



"Night and day, we lived out the incarnational Word of God by helping

them and praying with them in the name of Jesus at every opportunity.

Hundreds of them had watched the Jesus video and listened to our message."



Some Bantu responded, saying "God answered your prayers," or

"Jesus healed me," or “I saw Jesus in my dream. He's so beautiful."

But only a few actually believed and prayed to Jesus, bravely f

acing threats from family members.



"I cannot say the name Jesus, or Allah will punish me,"

said one young adult. "It feels like something will choke me."



The slowness of the work caused many volunteers to leave,

while the remaining workers felt alone and weary. But Luke told believers to

"Pray to the Lord of the harvest to send more workers" (Luke 10:2).



"That's what we did, and boom! In 2020, our struggling local prayer team

of three grew beyond 10. God raised up more young, passionate workers

who are fasting and prayer walking weekly, teaching leadership skills

to Bantu youth and leading discovery Bible studies.



Some of the Bantu have experienced divine dreams and visions,

and another young man accepted Jesus. Now, there are three followers

of Christ from a Muslim background.”



Pray to the Lord of the harvest to send even more workers!



Ask God to strengthen the secret believers' faith and to give them courage

and wisdom to share Jesus with their people (Eph. 6:18-19).

18 (Col 4:2; 1Ti 2:1; Eph 1:16)Pray in the Spirit always with

all kinds of prayer and supplication. To that end be alert

with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.

19 (1Th 5:25; Ac 4:29) Pray for me, that the power to speak

may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly

to make known the mystery of the gospel,



Pray that the Somali Bantu can read or hear the Word of God

in their own language and believe (Romans 10:14).

14 (Titus 1:3) How then shall they call on Him in whom they

have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom

they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?



Ask God to open the hearts of Bantu men and women

so they respond to the message of Jesus (Acts 16:14).

14 (Lk 24:45; Ac 18:7) A woman named Lydia, a seller of purple fabric

of the city of Thyatira, who worshipped God, heard us.

The Lord opened her heart to acknowledge what Paul said.

Pray to the Lord not to walk not in the counsel of the ungodly,



Pray to the Lord tothank Him for being with me in the fire

and for comforting me with His presence.



Pray to the Lord to exalt Him in your singing .



Pray to the Lord to treat the poor well .



Pray to the Lord to be in comfort with those who mourn .



Pray for Muslims in Ontario to receive Christ as Saviour

and that chirstian outreach will be strong.



Pray to the Lord of the harvest to send even more workers!



Ask God to strengthen the secret believers' faith and to give them courage

and wisdom to share Jesus with their people .

Pray that the Somali Bantu can read or hear the Word of God

in their own language and believe .

Ask God to open the hearts of Bantu men and women

so they respond to the message of Jesus .



Pray for the Holy Spirit to bring conviction of sin

and Canadian to faith in Christ.



Pray to the Lord that to know the Holy Spirit.

and Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness
