Day 113, 23 Apr 2021

Psalsm 43,44,45,49,84,85,87

PSALMS 43

1 Vindicate me, O God,

and plead my cause against an ungodly nation;

deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man.

2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) For You are the God of my refuge;

why have You rejected me?

Why do I walk about mourning

because of the oppression of the enemy?

3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) Send out Your light and Your truth.

Let them lead me;

let them bring me to Your holy hill,

and to Your dwelling place.

4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) Then I will go to the altar of God,

to the God of my joyful gladness;

with the harp I will give thanks to You,

O God, my God.

5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) Why are you cast down, O my soul?

And why are you disquieted withinme?

Hope in God;

for I will yet give Him thanks,

the salvation of my countenance and my God.

PSALMS 44

For the Music Director. A Contemplative Maskil of the sons of Korah.

1 We have heard with our ears, O God,

our fathers have told us

what work You did in their days,

in the days of old:

2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) how You drove out the nations with Your hand,

and planted others instead;

how You afflicted peoples,

and sent them away.

3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) For they did not take possession of the land

by their own sword,

nor did their own arm save them;

but it was Your right hand, and Your arm,

and the light of Your countenance, because You had favor on them.

4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) You are my King, O God;

command deliverances for Jacob.

5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) Through You we will push down our opponents;

through Your name we will trample those who rise up against us.

6 (2Sa 17:22; Dt 3:8-9) For I will not trust in my bow,

nor will my sword save me.

7 (Ps 88:7; Jnh 2:3) But You have saved us from our opponents,

and have put to shame those who hate us.

8 (Job 35:10; Ps 63:6) In God we boast all the day long,

and give thanks to Your name forever. Selah

9 (Ps 38:6; 18:2) But You have rejected us and put us to shame,

and do not go out with our armies.

10 (Ps 42:3; Joel 2:17) You make us to turn back from the opponent,

and those who hate us make us their spoil.

11 (Ps 42:5; 43:5) You have placed us like sheep for prey,

and have scattered us among the nations.

12 You sell Your people for nothing,

and do not increase Your wealth by their sale.

13 You make us a reproach to our neighbors,

a scorn and a derision to those who surround us.

14 You make us a byword among the nations,

a shaking of the head among the people.

15 All day long my reproach is before me,

and the shame of my face covers me,

16 from the voice of him who reproaches and reviles,

by reason of the enemy and avenger.

17 All this is come on us,

yet we have not forgotten You,

nor have we dealt falsely in Your covenant.

18 Our heart is not turned back,

nor have our steps deviated from Your way,

19 though You have crushed us in the place of jackals,

and covered us with the shadow of death.

20 If we have forgotten the name of our God,

or stretched out our hands to a strange god,

21 would not God search this out?

For He knows the secrets of the heart.

22 Yes, for Your sake we are killed all the day long;

we are considered like sheep for the slaughter.

23 Awake; why do You sleep, O Lord?

Arise; do not reject us forever.

24 Why do You hide Your face,

and forget our affliction and our oppression?

25 For our soul is bowed down to the dust;

our body cleaves to the earth.

26 Arise, be our help,

and redeem us for the sake of Your lovingkindness.

PSALMS 45

For the Music Director. To the melody of "Lilies."

A Contemplative Maskil of the sons of Korah. A love song.

1 My heart is overflowing with a good thought;

I am speaking my works for the king;

my tongue is the pen of a skilled scribe.

2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) You are fairer than all the sons of men;

favor is poured on your lips;

therefore God has blessed you forever.

3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) Gird your sword on your thigh, O mighty one,

with your splendor and your majesty.

4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) In your majesty ride prosperously

because of truth and meekness and righteousness;

and your right hand will teach you awesome things.

5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) Your arrows are sharp in the heart of the king’s enemies;

peoples will fall under you.

6 (2Sa 17:22; Dt 3:8-9) Your throne, O God, is forever and ever;

the scepter of Your kingdom is an upright scepter.

7 (Ps 88:7; Jnh 2:3) You love righteousness and hate wickedness;

therefore God, your God, anointed you

with the oil of gladness above your companions.

8 (Job 35:10; Ps 63:6) All your garments are fragrant with myrrh and aloes and cassia;

from the ivory palaces stringed instruments make you glad.

9 (Ps 38:6; 18:2 ) Kings' daughters are among your honorable women;

at your right hand stands the queen in gold of Ophir.

10 (Ps 42:3; Joel 2:17) Listen, O daughter, consider and incline your ear;

forget your own people, and your father’s house,

11 (Ps 42:5; 43:5) and the king will desire your beauty.

Since he is your lord, bow to him.

12 The daughter of Tyre will be there with a gift;

even the rich among the people will entreat your favor.

13 The royal daughter is all glorious within her chamber;

her clothing is plaited gold.

14 She shall be brought to the king in embroidered garments;

the virgins, her companions who follow her,

shall be brought to you.

15 With gladness and rejoicing they shall be brought;

they shall enter into the king’s palace.

16 Your sons shall succeed your fathers;

you will make them princes in all the land.

17 I will cause your name to be remembered in all generations;

therefore the people will praise you forever and ever.

PSALMS 49

For the Music Director. A Psalm of the sons of Korah.

1 Hear this, all you people;

give ear, all you inhabitants of the world,

2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) both low and high,

rich and poor together.

3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) My mouth will speak wisdom,

and the meditation of my heart will be understanding.

4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8 ) I will incline my ear to a parable;

I will expound my riddle with a harp.

5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) Why should I fear in the days of evil,

when the iniquity of my stalkers surrounds me?

6 (2Sa 17:22; Dt 3:8-9) Those who trust in their wealth,

and boast in the multitude of their riches,

7 (Ps 88:7; Jnh 2:3) none of them can by any means redeem the other,

nor give to God a ransom for anyone,

8 (Job 35:10; Ps 63:6) for the redemption of their souls is costly;

even so people cease to exist forever,

9 (Ps 38:6; 18:2) making efforts to live eternally,

and not see the pit.

10 (Ps 42:3; Joel 2:17) For one sees that wise men die,

together the fool and the brute perish,

and leave their wealth to others.

11 (Ps 42:5; 43:5) Their graves become their perpetual homes,

and their dwelling places to all generations,

though they call their lands after their own names.

12 But a man does not abide in honor;

mankind is like the beasts that come to ruin.

13 This is their way, it is their folly;

yet their posterity approve their sayings. Selah

14 Like sheep they are appointed for Sheol;

Death shall be their shepherd;

the upright shall rule over them in the morning,

and their form shall waste away in Sheol,

far from their dwelling.

15 But God shall redeem my soul from the power of Sheol,

for He shall receive me. Selah

16 Do not fear when one is made rich,

when the glory of his house is increased,

17 for he takes nothing away in death;

his glory does not descend after him.

18 Though while he lives he blesses his soul—

and men will praise you when you do well for yourself-

19 that soul will go to the generation of his fathers;

they will never see light.

20 A man in honor, and yet without understanding,

is like the animals that perish.

PSALMS 84

For the Music Director. According to The Gittith.

A Psalm of the sons of Korah.

1 How lovely is Your dwelling place,

O Lord of Hosts!

2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) My soul longs, yes, even faints

for the courts of the Lord;

my heart and my body cry out

for the living God.

3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) Yes, the sparrow has found a home

and the swallow a nest for herself,

where she may lay her young,

even at Your altars,

O Lord of Hosts, my King and my God.

4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) Blessed are those who dwell in Your house;

they continually praise You. Selah

5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) Blessed is the man whose strength is in You,

in whose heart are the paths to Zion.

6 (2Sa 17:22; Dt 3:8-9) As they pass through the Valley of Baca,

they makes it a spring;

the early rain also covers it with pools.

7 (Ps 88:7; Jnh 2:3) They go from strength to strength;

every one of them appears in Zion before God.

8 (Job 35:10; Ps 63:6) O Lord God of Hosts, hear my prayer,

and give ear, O God of Jacob. Selah

9 (Ps 38:6; 18:2) Behold, O God our shield,

and look upon the face of Your anointed.

10 (Ps 42:3; Joel 2:17) For a day in Your courts is better

than a thousand elsewhere.

I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God

than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

11 (Ps 42:5; 43:5) For the Lord God is a sun and shield;

the Lord will give favor and glory,

for no good thing will He withhold

from the one who walks uprightly.

12 O Lord of Hosts,

blessed is the man who trusts in You.

PSALMS 85

For the Music Director. A Psalm of the songs of Korah.

1 Lord, You have been favorable to Your land;

You have brought back the captivity of Jacob.

2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) You have forgiven the iniquity of Your people;

You have covered all their sin. Selah

3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) You have withdrawn all Your wrath;

You have turned from the fierceness of Your anger.

4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) Restore us, O God of our salvation,

and put away Your indignation towardus.

5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) Will You be angry with us forever?

Will You draw out Your anger to all generations?

6 (2Sa 17:22; Dt 3:8-9) Will You not revive us again,

that Your people may rejoice in You?

7 (Ps 88:7; Jnh 2:3) Show us Your mercy, O Lord,

and grant us Your deliverance.

8 (Job 35:10; Ps 63:6) I will hear what God the Lord will speak,

for He will speak peace to His people and to His saints,

but let them not turn again to folly.

9 (Ps 38:6; 18:2) Surely His salvation is near to them who fear Him,

that glory may dwell in our land.

10 (Ps 42:3; Joel 2:17) Mercy and truth have met together;

righteousness and peace have kissed.

11 (Ps 42:5; 43:5) Truth springs from the ground,

and righteousness looks down from the sky.

12 Yes, the Lord gives that which is good,

and our land shall yield its increase.

13 Righteousness shall go before Him

and prepare a way for His footsteps.

PSALMS 87

A Psalm of the sons of Korah. A Song.

1 The city of His foundation is on the holy mountain.

2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) The Lord loves the gates of Zion

more than all the dwelling places of Jacob.

3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) Glorious things are spoken of you,

O city of God. Selah.

4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) I will make mention of Rahab and Babylon

to those who know Me;

look, Philistia and Tyre with Ethiopia;

"This man was born there."

5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) But of Zion it shall be said,

"This one and that one were born in her,"

for the Most High shall make her secure.

6 (2Sa 17:22; Dt 3:8-9) The Lord shall count when He registers the people,

"This one was born there." Selah

7 (Ps 88:7; Jnh 2:3) As well the singers and the players of instruments say,

"All my springs are in you."

2) Our Daily Bread for 23 Apr 2021

https://odb.org/CA/2021/04/23/seeing-with-new-eyes

entitled The God of All Comfort

Philippians 2:1–5

Christian Humility and Christ's Humility

1 (2Co 13:14; Col 3:12) If there is any encouragement in Christ,

if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit,

if any compassion and mercy,

2 (Jn 3:29; Ro 12:16) then fulfill my joy and be like-minded,

having the same love, being in unity with one mind.

3 (Ro 12:10; Gal 5:26) Let nothing be done out of strife or conceit,

but in humility let each esteem the other better than himself.

4 (Ro 15:1) Let each of you look not only to your own interests,

but also to the interests of others.

5 (Mt 11:29; Ro 15:3) Let this mind be in you all, which was also

in Christ Jesus,

A video game, one that's become a cultural phenomenon,

places a hundred players on a virtual island to compete until one player

remains. Whenever a player eliminates you from the contest, you can continue

to watch through that player's vantage point. As one journalist notes,

"When you step into another player's shoes and inhabit their point of view,

the emotional register . . . shifts from self-preservation to . . . communal

solidarity. . . . You begin to feel invested in the stranger who,

not too long ago, did you in."

Transformation happens whenever we open ourselves to see another's experience,

looking beyond our own vision and encountering another's pain, fear, or hopes.

When we follow Jesus' example and "do nothing out of selfish ambition or

vain conceit" and instead "in humility value others above [our]selves," then

we notice things we would have missed otherwise (Philippians 2:3).

Our concerns broaden. We ask different questions. Rather than being

preoccupied with only our own needs or angst, we become invested

in others' well-being. Rather than looking to "[our] own interests,"

we become committed "to the interests of . . . others” (v. 4). Rather

than protecting what we assume we need to thrive, we joyfully

pursue whatever helps others flourish.

With this transformed vision, we gain compassion for other.

We discover new ways to love our family. We may even make

a friend out of an enemy!

Reflect & Pray

How can the Holy Spirit help you avoid becoming small, narrow, or selfish?

How do you think God's inviting you to see others with new eyes?

Jesus, too often what I see is only my fear, my pain, or my lack.

Help me to see my sisters and brothers. I want to truly see them and love them.

3) From The Billy Graham Evangelical Ministry Association

Words in Season - Scripture Memory Tools

Week 3 - Saved Now and forever Day 6 - Eternal Life, Beginning now

John 10:28 - I give them eternal life. They shall never perish,

nor shall anyone snatch them from My hand.

In C.S. Lewis's The Great Divorce, one of the Spirits in heaven, identifying

himself as George MacDonald, makes some startling statements on the nature of

eternal life. Depending upon the individual's choice for or against Christ,

MacDonald says, everything in life takes on the character of haven or hell.

"At the end of ALL THINGS, when the sun rises here (in heaven) and the twilight

turns to blackness down there, the Blessed will say, 'We have never lived

anywhere except in Heaven,' and the Lost, 'We were always in Hell.'

And both will speak truly" - From the Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis.

Lewis was not trying to make a theological case, but to demonstrate

a principle: eterenal life begins now.

The choices that we make for or against obedience to God, the life we live,

the patterns we establish, all move us in one direction of the other.

And when we have decided to choose obedience to God (the forsakeness of sin),

when we give ourselves fully into his hands, he is able to take the worst of

circumstances and redeem them for our good, use them to mature us in his image.

Again Jesus says in John 10:28

"I give them eternal life. They shall never perish,

nor shall anyone snatch them from My hand. "

In Christ is a very secure place to be. No experience is lost, no pain is

wasted. Everything in our lives is redeemed by God for our benefit.

Application

a) How have I experienced the truth that "eternal life begins now"?

b) How can this verse help me put life in perspective during times

of stress and anxiety?

4) From Prosperity Promises - Kenneth Copeland

Genesis 39:2-3 : 2 (Ge 21:22; 26:24) The Lord was with Joseph,

so that he became a prosperous man. He was in the house of his master,

the Egyptian.

3 (Ps 1:3; Ge 21:22) His master saw that the Lord was with him

and that the Lord made all that he did to prosper.

5) From a Book called God's Promises for you:

When you are anxious

Romans 8:28-30

28 (Gal 1:15; Ge 50:20) We know that all things work together

for good to those who love God,

to those who are called according to His purpose.

29 (Ro 11:2; 1Co 15:49; Eph 1:11) For those whom He foreknew,

He predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son,

so that He might be the firstborn among many brothers.

30 (1Co 6:11; Heb 9:15) And those whom He predestined, He also called;

and those whom He called, He also justified; and those whom He justified,

He also glorified.

The Lord's prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

9 "Therefore pray in this manner:

Our Father who is in heaven,

hallowed be Your name.

10 (Mt 3:2; 4:17) Your kingdom come;

Your will be done

on earth, as it is in heaven.

11 (Pr 30:8; Isa 33:16) Give us this day our daily bread.

12 (Ex 34:7; Ps 32:1) And forgive us our debts,

as we forgive our debtors.

13 (1Co 10:13; Jn 17:15) And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."

Manitoba

Quick facts on Muslims in Manitoba

Saskatchewan 2015 population 1 282 000

est Muslim Population 21 349

CNMM Networks: Winnipeg

The Muslim population of Manitoba, understandably centred in Winnipeg, is very

diverse and represents some 48 different cultural and ethinic backgrounds.

Conservative estimates put their number at 21000 , with some suggesting

it might be twice that size.

Some outreach among Muslims has started, yet in comparison to the size

of this community, there is the need and opportunity for far more engagement.

Continued influx of new immigrants and refugees continues to see the growth

of this Muslim centre in Manitoba.

We rejoice in the Arabic fellowship meeting there and the energetic workers

among Muslims in Winnipeg.

Let us intercede in unity for:

- new Christian workers among Manitoba's growing Muslim population

- new church ministries focused on prayer, equipping and reaching Muslim

communities around them, as well as training new workers

- the Arabic fellowship and their ministries of discipiling new Muslim

background believers and for effectiveness in outreach

- for the recent Somali woman who found faith in Jesus and stood her ground

in the face of opposition to her new faith.

- for current workers among Muslims to be blessed, refreshed and encouraged

with great support

FROM MYANMAR TO BANGLADESH TO NORTH AMERICA

ROHINGYA SEEK A SAFE PLACE TO STAY

The United Nations calls the Rohingya people the

"world's most persecuted minority." South Africa's Bishop Desmond Tutu

says they've experienced apartheid. Others call their treatment

ethnic cleansing.

A million Rohingya had lived in Myanmar for centuries,

but the government stripped them of their citizenship,

burned their villages, and killed, tortured, and raped

many individuals before forcing them out of the country in 2016-2017.

More than 600000 of them now live in squalid refugee camps in Bangladesh.

Nearly all Rohingya people are Muslims, but years of oppression

and persecution have led some to seek spiritual alternatives in the camps.

Anwar sits in a dimly lit room, where he shares the story of how Jesus rescued

him from tragedy. Two years ago he was a practicing Muslim who relied

on alcohol and drugs to numb the pain of oppression.

But he was reached by a movement in the U.S. that brought the Gospel

to Rohingya refugees. Even after angry Muslims beat him in front

of his pregnant wife, he did not back down, telling his persecutors,

"I am ready to die for my Lord. I don’t care what you do to me.

All I ask is that when you kill me you give my body to my brothers

so it can rest at the foot of the cross."

Since then, Anwar has helped plant six churches and has seen close

to 500 baptisms of Rohingya Muslims.

God is moving amidst the ravaged Rohingya as He has for other persecuted

people. "The Lord works righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed"(Psalm 103:6).

(2Sa 17:22; Dt 3:8-9) The Lord does righteousness

and justice for all who are oppressed.

Pray that the persecuted Rohingya refugees would hear the Gospel

and find their hope and identity in Christ.

Pray for Rohingya believers like Anwar to remain strong and bold

in the face of persecution.

Pray that God will work righteousness and justice for these oppressed people.
