and said, "Jacob, Jacob." And he said, "Here I am."

Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt,

for I will make you into a great nation there.

4(Ge 28:15; 48:21)I will go down with you to Egypt,

and I will also surely bring you back again.

And Joseph's own hand shall close your eyes."

whom she bore to Jacob in Paddan Aram,

with his daughter Dinah.

All his sons and his daughters numbered thirty-three.

16 (Nu 26:15–17; Ge 30:11)And the sons of Gad were

Zephon, Haggi, Shuni, Ezbon, Eri, Arodi, and Areli.

17 (Ge 30:13) The sons of Asher were

Imnah, Ishvah, Ishvi, Beriah,

and Serah their sister.

18 (Ge 29:24)These were the sons of Zilpah,

whom Laban gave to Leah his daughter;

and these she bore to Jacob, sixteen in all.

19 (Ge 44:27) The sons of Rachel, Jacob's wife, were Joseph and Benjamin.

20 (Ge 41:50–52; 41:45) To Joseph in the land of Egypt

were born Manasseh and Ephraim,

whom Asenath the daughter of Potiphera, the priest of On, bore to him.

21(1Ch 7:6–12)The sons of Benjamin were

Bela, Beker, Ashbel, Gera, Naaman, Ehi, Rosh, Muppim, Huppim, and Ard.

27 (Ac 7:14; Ex 1:5) And the sons of Joseph,

who were born to him in Egypt, were two.

All those of the house of Jacob who came to Egypt were seventy.

Jacob Settles in Goshen

28 (Ge 45:10) Now he sent Judah ahead of him to Joseph to get directions

to Goshen. And they came into the land of Goshen.

29 (Lk 15:20) Joseph readied his chariot and went up to Goshen

to meet Israel his father. As soon as he appeared to him,

he fell on his neck and wept on his neck a long time.

30 (Lk 2:29–30) Israel said to Joseph, "Now let me die,

since I have seen your face, because you are still alive."

31 Joseph said to his brothers and to his father’s household,

"I will go up and tell Pharaoh and say to him, 'My brothers

and my father's household, who were in the land of Canaan, have come to me.

32 (Ge 47:3) The men are shepherds; their work has been to feed livestock,

and they have brought their flocks and their herds and all that they have.'

33 (Ge 46:32) When Pharaoh calls you and asks, 'What is your occupation?'

34 (Ge 43:32; Ex 8:26) you shall say, 'Your servants have been

keepers of livestock from our youth even until now, both we and our fathers,'

so that you may dwell in the land of Goshen,

because every shepherd is an abomination to the Egyptians"

GENESIS 47

1 (Ge 46:31; 45:10) Then Joseph went and told Pharaoh,

"My father and my brothers and their flocks and their herds

and all that they possess have come from the land of Canaan

and are now in the land of Goshen."

2 (Ac 7:13) He took five men from among his brothers

and presented them before Pharaoh.

3 (Ge 46:33–34) Pharaoh asked his brothers, "What is your occupation?"

And they said to Pharaoh, "Your servants are shepherds,

both we and also our fathers."

4 (Ge 15:13; 46:34) They said to Pharaoh, “We have come to sojourn in the land,

for your servants have no pasture for their flocks, because the famine is severe

in the land of Canaan. Now therefore, please allow your servants to dwell

in the land of Goshen.”

5 Pharaoh spoke to Joseph, saying, "Your father and your brothers have come to you.

6 (Ge 47:11; Ex 18:21) The land of Egypt is before you. Have your father

and your brothers dwell in the best of the land. Have them dwell

in the land of Goshen, and if you know any capable men among them,

then put them in charge over my livestock."

7(Ge 47:10)Then Joseph brought in Jacob his father and presented him to Pharaoh,

and Jacob blessed Pharaoh.

8 Pharaoh said to Jacob, "How old are you?"

9 (Ge 35:28; 1Ch 29:15) And Jacob said to Pharaoh,

"The days of the years of my pilgrimage are one hundred and thirty years.

My days of the years of my life have been few and evil,

and they have not attained to the days of the years of the lives of my fathers

in the days of their pilgrimage."

10 (Ge 47:7) And Jacob blessed Pharaoh and went out from his presence.

11 (Ex 1:11; 12:37) So Joseph settled his father and his brothers

and gave them a possession in the land of Egypt,

in the best part of the land, in the land of Rameses,

as Pharaoh had commanded.

12 (Ge 45:11) Joseph provided food for his father, his brothers,

and his father's entire household, according to the number of their children.

Joseph and the Famine

13(Ac 7:11) There was no food in all the land, for the famine

was very severe, so that the land of Egypt and

all the land of Canaan languished because of the famine.

14 (Ge 41:56) Joseph gathered up all the money that was found

in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan for the grain that they bought,

and Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh's house.

15 When the money was all spent in the land of Egypt

and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came to Joseph

and said, "Give us food, for why should we die in your presence?

For our money is gone."

16 Joseph said, "Give your livestock, and I will give you food

for your livestock, if your money is gone."

17 They brought their livestock to Joseph, and Joseph gave them food

in exchange for the horses, the flocks, the herds, and the donkeys;

and he fed them with food in exchange for all their livestock for that year.

18 When that year was ended, they came to him the second year

and said to him, "We will not hide it from our lord, that our money is all spent.

Our lord also has our herds of livestock. There is nothing left in the sight

of my lord but our bodies and our lands.

19 (Ne 5:2–3) Why should we die before your eyes, both we and our land?

Buy us and our land for food, and we and our land will be slaves to Pharaoh.

Also give us seed, so that we may live and not die,

so that the land will not be desolate."

20 So Joseph bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh,

for every Egyptian man sold his field

because the famine was severe on them.

So the land became Pharaoh's.

21 As for the people, he removed them to cities

from one end of the borders of Egypt to the other end.

22 (Ezr 7:24) Only the land of the priests he did not buy;

for the priests had an allotment from Pharaoh,

and they lived off their allotment that Pharaoh gave them.

Therefore they did not sell their lands.

23 Then Joseph said to the people, "I have bought you and your land today

for Pharaoh; here is seed for you so you may sow the land.

24 (Ge 41:34) At the harvest, you must give a fifth part to Pharaoh

and four parts will be your own, as seed for the field and

for your food and for those of your households

and for food for your little ones."

25 (Ge 33:15) They said, "You have saved our lives.

Let us find grace in the sight of my lord,

and we will be Pharaoh's slaves."

26 (Ge 47:22) So Joseph made it a law over the land of Egypt to this day,

that Pharaoh should have the fifth part,

except from the land of the priests, which did not become Pharaoh's.

Jacob’s Request of Joseph

27 (Ge 46:3; Ex 1:7) Israel lived in the land of Egypt,

in the land of Goshen, and they had possessions there

and grew and became very numerous.

28 And Jacob lived in the land of Egypt seventeen years,

so the years of Jacob’s life were one hundred and forty-seven years.

29 (Ge 24:2; 24:49) When the time drew near when Israel would die,

he called his son Joseph and said to him, "If now I have found grace

in your sight, please put your hand under my thigh

and deal kindly and truly with me. Please do not bury me in Egypt,

30 (Ge 49:29–32; 23:19) but let me lie with my fathers.

Carry me out of Egypt and bury me in their burial place."

And he said, "I will do as you have said."

31(1Ki 1:47; Ge 24:3)And he said, "Swear to me," and he swore to him.

Then Israel bowed himself at the head of his bed.

entitled A Mighty Stream

Amos 5:21–24

21 (Lev 26:31; Isa 1:11–16 ) I hate, I despise your festivals,

and I am not pleased by your solemn assemblies.

22 (Isa 66:3; Mic 6:6–7 )Though you offer Me burnt offerings

or your grain offerings,

I will not accept them,

nor will I regard the offerings

of your fattened animals.

23 (Am 6:5; 8:3) Take away from Me the noise of your songs;

I will not listen to the melody of your harps.

24 (Mic 6:8) But let justice roll down like water,

and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.

Among the many exhibits and artifacts exploring the harsh

reality of slavery and its aftermath in the National Museum

of African American History and Culture in Washington DC,

I was grateful to discover the Contemplative Court.

This tranquil room features translucent walls of bronze glass,

and water appears to rain down from the ceiling into a pool.

As I sat in that peaceful space, a quote on the wall

from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. caught my eye:

"We are determined . . . to work and fight until justice

rains down like water and righteousness like a mighty stream."

These powerful words are drawn from the Old Testament book of Amos.

Amos was a prophet living among a people who were involved

in religious activities, such as celebrating festivals

and offering sacrifices, but whose hearts were far from God (Amos 5:21–23).

God rejected their activities because they'd turned away from His commands,

including those regarding justice toward the needy and oppressed.

Instead of religious ceremonies devoid of love for God and others,

Amos wrote that God longed for His people to demonstrate genuine

concern for the welfare of all people—a generous way of living that

would be a mighty river bringing life wherever it flowed.

Jesus taught the same truth that loving God is connected

with loving our neighbors (Matthew 22:37–39).

As we seek to love God, may it come from hearts that also treasure justice.

Reflect & Pray

How might you love God through pursuing justice for others?

What are examples of generous living toward the needy

or oppressed that encourage you?

Heavenly Father, thank You that Your love is like a mighty

stream that brings justice to all. Help me to join You in Your healing work.

Week 7 Promises of Grace - Day 5 The Way Out

1 Cor 10:13

13 (1Co 1:9; 2Pe 2:9) No temptation has taken

you except what is common to man. God is faithful,

and He will not permit you to be tempted above

what you can endure, but will with the temptation

also make a way to escape, that you may be able to bear it.

Becky had experienced some hard knocks in the past few weeks; the stress

was beginning to show, and she wasn't sure she sould handle anything else.

"Why me?" Becky wept, covering her face. "I just can't stnad it any more!

I can't pay my bills; I just lost my job, and now my car broke down

on the highway. How much more of this can I take?"

Some people seem to have more than their share of trouble and temptation.

Within six months, one family faced finanical trouble, cancer, quadruple

bypass surgery, and leukemia; their trials brought them face to face with

anger, bitterness, and despair as well. Other peopel seem to go through

life with relatively minor stresses and few real temptations to sin.

But whether our problems are great or small, they are part of the cpmmon

thread that ties humanity together. All of us face temptation; it is ,

Paul says, "Common to man." But Pauk assures us that

"God ... will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear."

Often what we can bear is more that what we think we can bear. God will use

the troubled times in our lives for our maturity in him, but he promises

as well that he will not let temptation break us. He will provide "a way out,"

"a way of escape".

Sometimes the "way out" is true escape, being removed from what caused the

trouble. At other times, rathewr than being removed from it, we must

withstand the stress, face the temptatino, enure the pain. Whether we escape

or endure, God is faithful to provide what we need; we can trust him

not to give os more than we can bear.

Application

a) Have I ever faced more stress or temptation than I thought I could bear?

b) Under what circumstances has God provided an "escape" for me?

When have I had to walk "through" my difficulties?

c) How can today's verse encourage me when times are tough?

4) From Prosperity Promises - Kenneth Copeland

Ecclesiates 11:1

1 (Pr 19:17; Mt 10:42; Heb 6:10) Cast your bread upon the waters,

for you will find it after many days

5) From a Book called God's Promises for you:

When you are Facing Pain and Suffering

Romans 8:31-39

The Love of God

31 (Ps 118:6; Ro 4:1) What then shall we say to these things?

If God is for us, who can be against us?

32 (Jn 3:16; Ro 4:25) He who did not spare His own Son,

but delivered Him up for us all, how shall

He not with Him also freely give us all things?

33 (Rev 12:10–11; Isa 50:8–9) Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect?

It is God who justifies.

34 (Heb 7:25; Mk 16:19; Ro 8:1) Who is he who condemns?

It is Christ who died, yes, who is risen, who is also

at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.

35 (1Co 4:11) Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?

Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine,

or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

36 (Ps 44:22; 1Co 15:30)As it is written:

"For Your sake we are killed all day long;

we are counted as sheep for the slaughter." (Ps 44:22.)

37 (1Co 15:57; Gal 2:20) No, in all these things we are more

than conquerors through Him who loved us.

38 (Eph 1:21; 1Pe 3:22) For I am persuaded that neither death nor life,

neither angels nor principalities nor powers, neither things present

nor things to come,

39 (Ro 5:8) neither height nor depth, nor any other created thing,

shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Matthew 6:9-13

9 “Therefore pray in this manner:

on earth, as it is in heaven.

11 (Pr 30:8; Isa 33:16) Give us this day our daily bread.

12 (Ex 34:7; Ps 32:1) And forgive us our debts,

as we forgive our debtors.

6) This come from Praying for Muslims in Canada 2015 (Is there a 2021 edition?)

2015 Population - 4631302 Muslims about 136493

British Columbia - British Columbia's Muslim Population is growing constantly.

Every week there are immigrants ad refugees coming to the Greater Vancouver

and surrounding areas. There are also significant Muslim student populations

in our colleges and universities. Some have even suggested that there are

between 4000 and 5000 Saudi Arabian students alone, without counting all

other nationalities.

Greater Vancouver has an estimated 180000 Muslims, and there are significant

and growing communities in the Fraser Valley such as in Langley, Abbotsford,

Chilliwack, etc. Including these communities the total population for this

region is about 200000.

Of these, there are an estimated 100000 Iranians, 35000 Arabs, 15000 Ismailis,

more than 20000 Afghanis, 10000 South Asian Muslims, 3000 Turks, and small

numbers from other countries such as Sudan, Somalia, Albania, etc.

We are seeing some Muslims coming to Christ and we rejoice in that.

A few people also have some ongoing ministry to Muslims in the area,

for which we also rejoice. Let us agree in that

- the church will catch a vision to pray,

and a burden to train outreach to Muslims

- the church will press in to participate in effective

discipleship of these new Muslim background believers.

Adding further

30 days of prayer for the Muslim World 24 April to 23 May 2020

Under the Keep Praying page

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month

and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days

of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that

usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,

of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be

decorated and festivals will be held.

For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the

distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of

Islam.

You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",

which means Blessed Eid!"

Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you

know, and Muslims around the world:

- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions

in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about

unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such

movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three

decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim

relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.

Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,

"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;

your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.

18 Even on My menservants and maidservants

I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.

19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below:

blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,

and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes.

21 And whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."[a]

Footnotes

Acts 2:21 Joel 2:28-32.

- Pray for Christian workers an organisations focused on seeing effective

discipleship movements among Muslim people.

- Ask the Holy Spirit to continue to inspire you to have god's heart for

Muslims, to see them as He does, and to be the light that then to Jesus.

Matthew 5:14-15 : 14 "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a

hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do men light a candle and put it under

a basket, but on a candlestick. And it gives light to all who are in the

house."

Ideas for prayer

- Pray for opportunities to show the love of Christ to Muslims around you

- Pray for, and offer generous hospitality to, those you know who are serving

Christ among Muslim people -

Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."

- When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims

throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days!

My paternal side is of Muslim heritage and will offer this section to further

call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity

(Hindus, Jews, aboriginals Canadian, ...) .
