Gen 12 - 15
The Call of Abram
1 Now the Lord said to Abram, "Go from your country,
your family, and your father's house to the land that I will show you.
2 I will make of you a great nation;
I will bless you
and make your name great,
so that you will be a blessing.
3 I will bless them who bless you
and curse him who curses you,
and in you all families of the earth
will be blessed."
4 So Abram departed, as the Lord had spoken to him,
and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old
when he departed from Harran.
5 Abram took Sarai his wife, Lot his brother's son, and all their possessions
that they had accumulated, and the people that they had acquired in Harran,
and they set out for the land of Canaan. They came to the land of Canaan.
6 Then Abram passed through the land to the place of Shechem, to the oak of Moreh.
The Canaanites were in the land at that time.
7 The Lord appeared to Abram and said, "To your descendants I will give this land."
So he built an altar to the Lord, who had appeared to him.
8 From there he continued on to a mountain to the east of Bethel and pitched his tent,
having Bethel on the west and Ai on the east. There he built an altar to the Lord
and called on the name of the Lord.
9 Then Abram continued his journey toward the Negev.
Abram in Egypt
(Ge 20:1–18; 26:1–11)
10 Now there was a famine in the land, so Abram went down to Egypt to live there,
for the famine was severe in the land.
11 When he was getting near to Egypt, he said to Sarai his wife,
"I know you are a beautiful woman. 12 Therefore, when the Egyptians see you,
they will say, 'This is his wife.' They will then kill me,
but they will let you live.
13 Say you are my sister so that I may be treated well for your sake.
Then my life will be spared because of you."
14 So when Abram entered Egypt, the Egyptians saw that Sarai was very beautiful.
15 The princes of Pharaoh saw her and commended her to Pharaoh,
and she was taken into Pharaoh's house.
16 He treated Abram well for her sake and he had sheep and livestock,
male and female donkeys, male and female servants, and camels.
17 But the Lord afflicted Pharaoh and his house with great plagues
because of Abram's wife, Sarai.
18 So Pharaoh called Abram, and said, "What have you done to me?
Why did you not tell me that she was your wife?
19 Why did you say, 'She is my sister'?
I might have taken her as my wife.
Now here is your wife; take her and leave."
20 Pharaoh commanded his men concerning him,
and they sent him away with his wife and all that he had.
GENESIS 13
Abram and Lot
1 So Abram went up from Egypt to the Negev,
he and his wife and all that he had, and Lot with him.
2 Abram was very wealthy in livestock, in silver and in gold.
3 He continued on his journey from the Negev and came to Bethel,
to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai,
4 to the place where he first made an altar.
There Abram called on the name of the Lord.
5 Now Lot, who went with Abram, also had flocks and herds and tents.
6 But the land was not able to support them both dwelling together
because their possessions were so great.
7 And there was strife between the herdsmen of
Abram’s livestock and the herdsmen of Lot’s livestock.
The Canaanites and the Perizzites dwelled in the land at that time.
8 So Abram said to Lot, "Let there be no strife, I ask you,
between me and you, and between my herdsmen and your herdsmen,
for we are close relatives.
9 Is not the whole land before you? Please separate from me.
If you will go to the left, then I will go to the right,
or if you take the right, then I will go to the left."
10 Lot lifted up his eyes, and looked at all the valley of the Jordan,
that it was well watered everywhere like the garden of the Lord,
like the land of Egypt as you go to Zoar.
This was before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.
11 Then Lot chose for himself the entire valley of the Jordan
and journeyed east, and the two of them separated from each other.
12 Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan,
and Lot dwelled in the cities of the valley
and pitched his tent as far as Sodom.
13 Now the men of Sodom were exceedingly wicked and sinners against the Lord.
14 After Lot had departed from him, the Lord said to Abram,
"Lift up now your eyes, and look from the place where you are,
northward and southward and eastward and westward.
15 All the land that you see I will give to you and to your descendants forever.
16 I will make your descendants like the dust of the earth,
so that if a man could number the dust of the earth,
then your descendants could also be numbered.
17 Arise, and walk throughout the land across
its length and its width, for I will give it to you."
18 So Abram moved his tent and came and settled by the oaks of Mamre,
which are in Hebron, and built an altar to the Lord there.
GENESIS 14
Abram Rescues Lot
1 In the days that Amraphel was king of Shinar,
Arioch king of Ellasar, KedÂorlaomer king of Elam,
and Tidal king of Goyim,
2 they made war with Bera king of Sodom, Birsha king of Gomorrah,
Shinab king of Admah, Shemeber king of Zeboyim,
and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar).
3 All these were joined together in
the Valley of Siddim (that is, the Dead Sea).
4 For twelve years they had served Kedorlaomer,
but in the thirteenth year they rebelled.
5 In the fourteenth year, Kedorlaomer and the kings
who were with him came and defeated the Rephaites
in Ashteroth Karnaim, the Zuzites in Ham,
and the Emites in Shaveh Kiriathaim,
6 and the Horites in their hill country of Seir,
as far as El Paran, which is by the wilderness.
7 Then they turned back and came to En Mishpat
(that is, Kadesh) and conquered all the country
of the Amalekites and also the Amorites
who lived in Hazezon Tamar.
8 Then the king of Sodom, the king of Gomorrah, the king of Admah,
the king of Zeboyim, and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar) came out,
and they joined together in battle in the Valley of Siddim
9 against Kedorlaomer, the king of Elam, Tidal king of Goyim,
Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar—four
kings against five.
10 Now the Valley of Siddim was full of tar pits,
and as the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled,
some fell in them, and the rest fled to the hill country.
11 Then they took all the possessions of Sodom and Gomorrah,
and all their provisions, and departed.
12 They also took Lot, Abram’s brother’s son,
who lived in Sodom, and his possessions,
and went their way.
13 Then one who had escaped came and told Abram the Hebrew,
who was living near the oaks of Mamre the Amorite,
brother of Eshkol and Aner,
and these were allies with Abram.
14 When Abram heard that his relative was taken captive,
he armed his three hundred and eighteen trained servants
born in his own house, and pursued them as far as Dan.
15 During the night he divided his men to attack them
and defeated them, and pursued them as far as Hobah,
which is north of Damascus.
16 He brought back all the possessions,
along with his relative Lot and his possessions,
and also the women and the people.
Melchizedek Blesses Abram
17 After his return from the defeat of Kedorlaomer
and the kings who had joined with him,
the king of Sodom went out to meet him
in the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the King’s Valley).
18 Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine.
He was the priest of God Most High.
19 And he blessed him and said,
"Blessed be Abram by God Most High,
Creator of heaven and earth;
20 and blessed be God Most High,
who has delivered your enemies into your hand."
Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything.
21 The king of Sodom said to Abram,
"Give me the people and take the goods for yourself."
22 But Abram said to the king of Sodom,
"I have lifted up my hand to the Lord, God Most High,
the Possessor of heaven and earth,
23 that I will take nothing that is yours, not a thread or a sandal strap;
lest you say, 'I have made Abram rich.'
24 I will accept only that which my men have eaten
and the portion that belongs to the men who went
with me, Aner, Eshkol, and Mamre. Let them take their portion."
GENESIS 15
The Abrahamic Covenant
1 After this the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, saying,
"Do not fear, Abram.
I am your shield,
your exceedingly great reward."
2 But Abram said, "Lord God, what will You give me,
seeing I am childless and
the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?"
3 Abram said, "Since You have not given me any children,
my heir is a servant born in my house."
4 Then the word of the Lord came to him, saying,
"This man will not be your heir,
but a son that is from your own body will be your heir."
5 He brought him outside and said,
"Look up toward heaven and count the stars, if you are able to count them."
And He said to him, "So will your descendants be."
6 Abram believed the Lord, and He credited it to him as righteousness.
7 He also said to him, "I am the Lord who brought you out of
Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land to possess it."
8 But Abram said, "Lord God, how may I know that I will possess it?"
9 So He said to him, "Bring Me a three-year-old heifer,
a three-year-old female goat, a three-year-old ram,
a turtledove, and a young pigeon."
10 Then Abram brought all of these to Him and cut them
in two and laid each piece opposite the other,
but he did not cut the birds in half.
11 When the birds of prey came down on the carcasses,
Abram drove them away.
12 As the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell on Abram,
and terror and a great darkness fell on him.
13 Then He said to Abram, "Know for certain that your descendants
will live as strangers in a land that is not theirs,
and they will be enslaved and mistreated for four hundred years.
14 But I will judge the nation that they serve,
and afterward they will come out with great possessions.
15 As for you, you will go to your fathers in peace
and you will be buried at a good old age.
16 In the fourth generation, your descendants will return here,
for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete."
17 When the sun went down and it was dark,
a smoking fire pot with a flaming torch passed between these pieces.
18 On that same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying,
"To your descendants I have given this land,
from the river of Egypt to the great Euphrates River—
19 the land of the Kenites, the Kenizzites, the Kadmonites,
20 the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Rephaites,
21 the Amorites, the Canaanites,
the GirgaÂshites, and the Jebusites."
Believe the Lord will bless you and seek his will for success.

and the man bearing the shield went before him.
42 When the Philistine looked and saw David, he despised him.
For he was a youth and ruddy with a handsome appearance.
43 The Philistine said to David,
"Am I a dog, that you come to me with sticks?"
Then the Philistine cursed David by his gods.
44 The Philistine said to David, "Come to me,
and I will give your flesh to the birds of
the heavens and to the beasts of the field."
45 Then David said to the Philistine,
"You come to me with a sword, a spear,
and a shield, but I come to you
in the name of the Lord of Hosts,
the God of the armies of Israel,
whom you have reviled.
46 This day will the Lord deliver you into my hand.
And I will strike you down and cut off your head.
Then I will give the corpses of the Philistine camp
this day to the birds of the air
and to the beasts of the earth
so that all the earth may know
that there is a God in Israel.
47 And then all this assembly will know that it is not
by sword and spear that the Lord saves.
For the battle belongs to the Lord,
and He will give you into our hands."
Baby Saybie, born as a "micro-preemie" at 23 weeks,
weighed only 8.6 ounces.
Doctors doubted Saybie would live
nd told her parents they'd likely have only
an hour with their daughter.
However, Saybie kept fighting.
A pink card near her crib declared "Tiny but Mighty."
After five months in the hospital,
Saybie miraculously went home
as a healthy five-pound baby.
And she took a world record with her:
the world's tiniest surviving baby.
It's powerful to hear stories
of those who beat the odds.
The Bible tells one of these stories.
David, a shepherd boy, volunteered to fight Goliath
— a mammoth warrior who defamed God and threatened Israel.
King Saul thought David was ridiculous:
"You are not able to go out against
this Philistine and fight him;
you are only a young man,
and he has been a warrior from his youth" (1 Samuel 17:33).
And when the boy David stepped onto the battlefield,
Goliath "looked David over
and saw that he was little more than a boy" (v. 42).
However, David didn't step into battle alone.
He came "in the name of the Lord Almighty,
the God of the armies of Israel" (v. 45).
And when the day was done, a victorious David stood above a dead Goliath.
No matter how enormous the problem,
when God is with us there's nothing
that we need to fear.
With His strength, we're also mighty.

How can you see God present with you

God, I feel tiny today.
Left to myself, there’s no way forward.

Week 5 Rejoice in Grace – Day 7 Break up Your Fallow Ground
Hosea 10:12
12 Sow to yourselves righteousness,
reap mercy,
break up your fallow ground;
for it is time to seek the Lord,
until He comes
and rains righteousness upon you.
When a farmer prepares to plant his crop, a great deal od preparation
is necessary before the seen can be sown. He has to plow up the ground,
turning under the stubble from the previous harvest, harrow the field to
break up the clods, and fertilise- readying the soil for optimum growht.
A fallow field, one that was not planted the previous season, must be
broken and worked so that the seed can find root in the ground.
The bible likens spiritual growth to raising crops. God is the one
who brings rain and gives growth, but the success or failure
of the seed - both in initial salvation and in ongoing maturity -
is often linked to how well the soil has been prepared.
That preparation isn't always a pleasant or rewarding process.
We may resist the plowing or harrowing that comes through
the Holy Spirit's convictoin of sin. We may need to dig up boulders
of bitterness and thistles of anger; we may have to plow under the
stubble of the last crop of lessons, working that mulch deep into our lives.
But the final outcome is worth the effort - even the pain - that
preparation brings. Broken up, harrowed, readied for the seed of God's Word,
we are rich and fertile ground, and the seed of righteousness produces
an abundant crop in us.
Application
a) In what ways have I been "broken up" and "harrowed" by the Holy
Spirit to prepare me for God's work in me?
b) How can I apply these verses to myself? How can I
"sow in righteousness," "reap in mercy,"
"break up my fallow ground"?

2015 Population - 4631302 Muslims about 136493
British Columbia - British Columbia's Muslim Population is growing constantly.
Every week there are immigrants ad refugees coming to the Greater Vancouver
and surrounding areas. There are also significant Muslim student populations
in our colleges and universities. Some have even suggested that there are
between 4000 and 5000 Saudi Arabian students alone, without counting all
other nationalities.
Greater Vancouver has an estimated 180000 Muslims, and there are significant
and growing communities in the Fraser Valley such as in Langley, Abbotsford,
Chilliwack, etc. Including these communities the total population for this
region is about 200000.
Of these, there are an estimated 100000 Iranians, 35000 Arabs, 15000 Ismailis,
more than 20000 Afghanis, 10000 South Asian Muslims, 3000 Turks, and small
numbers from other countries such as Sudan, Somalia, Albania, etc.
We are seeing some Muslims coming to Christ and we rejoice in that.
A few people also have some ongoing ministry to Muslims in the area,
for which we also rejoice. Let us agree in that
- the church will catch a vision to pray,
and a burden to train outreach to Muslims
- the church will press in to participate in effective
discipleship of these new Muslim background believers.

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.
For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.
You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"
Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you
know, and Muslims around the world:
- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.
Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,
"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
18 Even on My menservants and maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.
19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below:
blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,
and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes.
21 And whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."[a]

- Ask the Holy Spirit to continue to inspire you to have god's heart for
Muslims, to see them as He does, and to be the light that then to Jesus.

Ideas for prayer
- Pray for opportunities to show the love of Christ to Muslims around you
- Pray for, and offer generous hospitality to, those you know who are serving
Christ among Muslim people -
Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."
- When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims
throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days!
My paternal side is of Muslim heritage and will offer this section to further
call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity
(Hindus, Jews, aboriginals Canadian, ...) .

Day 13: Whom Shall I Fear?
Verse of the Day: Psalm 46:1-2
For the Music Director. A Psalm of the sons of Korah.
According to Alamoth. A Song.
1 God is our refuge and strength,
a well-proven help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear,
though the earth be removed,
and though the mountains
be carried into the midst of the sea
Who Is My Neighbor?
For many of us it can come too easily to allow fear and anxiety to grip us
and cause us to forget who is in control. God is in control when we listen,
we can hear Him reminding us to "take courage and do not be afraid".
Whatever His will, we need to know that it is the best for us.
We shall not fear!
Reflection:
While we might still feel afraid from time to time, we can
believe that God is with us no matter what. We may not be in control,
but we can trust the One who is. We may not know the future,
but we can know the God who does.
It's not always easy, and it often comes down to a choice:
• Choosing not to allow fear and anxiety to control our lives.
• Choosing to guard our hearts.
• Choosing to focus our minds on what is true in the midst of uncertain times.
Prayer:
Lord God, be our strength and help us to trust in You.
Lord, it feels like we live in a crazy and chaotic world more now than ever.
You also know the struggles of our daily lives; you know when it all gets to be too much.
Calm our thoughts and emotions and help us focus on You on Your peace, comfort, and wisdom.
Help us not to give in to fear and to continue to lay our cares and concerns at Your feet.
In Jesus name, Amen.

King Og Defeated

and his land into your hand; and you shall do to him
as you did to Sihon, king of the Amorites, who lived at Heshbon."

4 We took all his cities at that time. There was not a city which we did not take from them:
sixty cities, all the region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan.
5 All these cities were fortified with high walls, gates, and bars,

6 We utterly destroyed them, as we did to Sihon, king of Heshbon,
utterly destroying the men, women, and children of every city.
7 But we took all the livestock and the spoil of the cities as plunder for ourselves.
8 So at that time we took from the hand of the two kings of the Amorites the land
that was across the Jordan, from the River Arnon to Mount Hermon
9(the Sidonians call Hermon Sirion, and the Amorites call it Senir),
10 all the cities of the plain, and all Gilead, and all Bashan,
as far as Salekah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan.
11 For only Og, king of Bashan, remained of the remnant of the giants.
(Notably, his bedstead was a bedstead of iron.
Is it not in Rabbah of the children of Ammon?
It is nine cubits long and four cubits wide,
according to the cubit of a man.)
Division of the Land
12 This is the land which we possessed at that time from Aroer, which is by the River Arnon,
and half the hill country of Gilead and its cities I gave to the Reubenites and to the Gadites.
13 The rest of Gilead, and all Bashan, the kingdom of Og, I gave to the half-tribe of Manasseh.
(All the region of Argob, with all Bashan, was called the land of giants.
14 Jair, the son of Manasseh, took all the region of Argob,
that is, Bashan, as far as the border of the Geshurites and the Maakathites,
and called the villages after his own name, Havvoth Jair, as it is to this day.)
15 I gave Gilead to Makir.
16 To the Reubenites and to the Gadites I gave the territory from Gilead
even as far as the stream bed of the River Arnon,
half the valley as the border to the River Jabbok,
which is the border of the Ammonites;
17 the plain also, with the Jordan as the border, from Kinnereth
as far as the east side of the Sea of the Arabah
(that is, the Dead Sea), below the slopes of Pisgah.
18 Then I commanded you at that time, saying,
"The Lord your God has given you this land to possess it.
All you men of valor shall pass over armed before your brothers,
the children of Israel.
19 But your wives and your little ones, and your livestock
(for I know that you have much livestock) shall remain in your cities
which I have given you
20 until the Lord has given rest to your brothers, as well as to you,
and until they also possess the land
which the Lord your God has given them beyond the Jordan.
Then each of you shall return to
his possession which I have given you."
Moses Forbidden to Cross the Jordan
21 I commanded Joshua at that time, saying,
"Your eyes have seen all that the Lord your God has done to these two kings.
So shall the Lord do to all the kingdoms where you pass.
22 Do not fear them, for the Lord your God, He shall fight for you."

26 But the Lord was angry with me because of you and would not listen to me,
and the Lord said to me, "Enough of that! Speak to Me no more of this matter.

to the west and north and south and east,
and see it with your eyes, for you shall not cross over this Jordan.
28 But charge Joshua and encourage him and strengthen him,
for he shall cross over before this people,
and he shall cause them to inherit the land which you will see."
29 So we remained in the valley over against Beth Peor.
Conclusion:
Pray not to squander the blessings of the Lord

The Call of Abram
1 Now the Lord said to Abram, "Go from your country,
your family, and your father's house to the land that I will show you.
2 I will make of you a great nation;
I will bless you
and make your name great,
so that you will be a blessing.
3 I will bless them who bless you
and curse him who curses you,
and in you all families of the earth
will be blessed."
4 So Abram departed, as the Lord had spoken to him,
and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old
when he departed from Harran.
5 Abram took Sarai his wife, Lot his brother's son, and all their possessions
that they had accumulated, and the people that they had acquired in Harran,
and they set out for the land of Canaan. They came to the land of Canaan.
6 Then Abram passed through the land to the place of Shechem, to the oak of Moreh.
The Canaanites were in the land at that time.
7 The Lord appeared to Abram and said, "To your descendants I will give this land."
So he built an altar to the Lord, who had appeared to him.
8 From there he continued on to a mountain to the east of Bethel and pitched his tent,
having Bethel on the west and Ai on the east. There he built an altar to the Lord
and called on the name of the Lord.
9 Then Abram continued his journey toward the Negev.
Abram in Egypt
(Ge 20:1–18; 26:1–11)
10 Now there was a famine in the land, so Abram went down to Egypt to live there,
for the famine was severe in the land.
11 When he was getting near to Egypt, he said to Sarai his wife,
"I know you are a beautiful woman. 12 Therefore, when the Egyptians see you,
they will say, 'This is his wife.' They will then kill me,
but they will let you live.
13 Say you are my sister so that I may be treated well for your sake.
Then my life will be spared because of you."
14 So when Abram entered Egypt, the Egyptians saw that Sarai was very beautiful.
15 The princes of Pharaoh saw her and commended her to Pharaoh,
and she was taken into Pharaoh's house.
16 He treated Abram well for her sake and he had sheep and livestock,
male and female donkeys, male and female servants, and camels.
17 But the Lord afflicted Pharaoh and his house with great plagues
because of Abram's wife, Sarai.
18 So Pharaoh called Abram, and said, "What have you done to me?
Why did you not tell me that she was your wife?
19 Why did you say, 'She is my sister'?
I might have taken her as my wife.
Now here is your wife; take her and leave."
20 Pharaoh commanded his men concerning him,
and they sent him away with his wife and all that he had.
GENESIS 13
Abram and Lot
1 So Abram went up from Egypt to the Negev,
he and his wife and all that he had, and Lot with him.
2 Abram was very wealthy in livestock, in silver and in gold.
3 He continued on his journey from the Negev and came to Bethel,
to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai,
4 to the place where he first made an altar.

like the land of Egypt as you go to Zoar.
This was before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.
11 Then Lot chose for himself the entire valley of the Jordan
and journeyed east, and the two of them separated from each other.
12 Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan,
and Lot dwelled in the cities of the valley
and pitched his tent as far as Sodom.
13 Now the men of Sodom were exceedingly wicked and sinners against the Lord.
14 After Lot had departed from him, the Lord said to Abram,
"Lift up now your eyes, and look from the place where you are,
northward and southward and eastward and westward.
15 All the land that you see I will give to you and to your descendants forever.
16 I will make your descendants like the dust of the earth,
so that if a man could number the dust of the earth,
then your descendants could also be numbered.
17 Arise, and walk throughout the land across
its length and its width, for I will give it to you."
18 So Abram moved his tent and came and settled by the oaks of Mamre,
which are in Hebron, and built an altar to the Lord there.
GENESIS 14
Abram Rescues Lot
1 In the days that Amraphel was king of Shinar,
Arioch king of Ellasar, KedÂorlaomer king of Elam,
and Tidal king of Goyim,
2 they made war with Bera king of Sodom, Birsha king of Gomorrah,
Shinab king of Admah, Shemeber king of Zeboyim,
and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar).
3 All these were joined together in
the Valley of Siddim (that is, the Dead Sea).
4 For twelve years they had served Kedorlaomer,
but in the thirteenth year they rebelled.
5 In the fourteenth year, Kedorlaomer and the kings
who were with him came and defeated the Rephaites

and as the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled,

and all their provisions, and departed.
12 They also took Lot, Abram’s brother’s son,
who lived in Sodom, and his possessions,

brother of Eshkol and Aner,
and these were allies with Abram.
14 When Abram heard that his relative was taken captive,
he armed his three hundred and eighteen trained servants
born in his own house, and pursued them as far as Dan.
15 During the night he divided his men to attack them
and defeated them, and pursued them as far as Hobah,
which is north of Damascus.

along with his relative Lot and his possessions,
and also the women and the people.
Melchizedek Blesses Abram
17 After his return from the defeat of Kedorlaomer
and the kings who had joined with him,
the king of Sodom went out to meet him
in the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the King’s Valley).
18 Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine.
He was the priest of God Most High.
19 And he blessed him and said,
"Blessed be Abram by God Most High,
Creator of heaven and earth;
20 and blessed be God Most High,
who has delivered your enemies into your hand."
Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything.
21 The king of Sodom said to Abram,
"Give me the people and take the goods for yourself."

The Abrahamic Covenant
1 After this the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, saying,
"Do not fear, Abram.
I am your shield,

2 But Abram said, "Lord God, what will You give me,
seeing I am childless and
the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?"
3 Abram said, "Since You have not given me any children,

11 When the birds of prey came down on the carcasses,
Abram drove them away.
12 As the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell on Abram,
and terror and a great darkness fell on him.
13 Then He said to Abram, "Know for certain that your descendants
will live as strangers in a land that is not theirs,
and they will be enslaved and mistreated for four hundred years.
14 But I will judge the nation that they serve,
and afterward they will come out with great possessions.
15 As for you, you will go to your fathers in peace
and you will be buried at a good old age.
16 In the fourth generation, your descendants will return here,
for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete."
17 When the sun went down and it was dark,
a smoking fire pot with a flaming torch passed between these pieces.
18 On that same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying,
"To your descendants I have given this land,
from the river of Egypt to the great Euphrates River—
19 the land of the Kenites, the Kenizzites, the Kadmonites,
20 the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Rephaites,
21 the Amorites, the Canaanites,
the GirgaÂshites, and the Jebusites."

Baby Saybie, born as a "micro-preemie" at 23 weeks,
weighed only 8.6 ounces.
Doctors doubted Saybie would live
nd told her parents they'd likely have only
an hour with their daughter.
However, Saybie kept fighting.
A pink card near her crib declared "Tiny but Mighty."
After five months in the hospital,
Saybie miraculously went home
as a healthy five-pound baby.
And she took a world record with her:
the world's tiniest surviving baby.
It's powerful to hear stories
of those who beat the odds.
The Bible tells one of these stories.
David, a shepherd boy, volunteered to fight Goliath
— a mammoth warrior who defamed God and threatened Israel.
King Saul thought David was ridiculous:
"You are not able to go out against
this Philistine and fight him;
you are only a young man,
and he has been a warrior from his youth" (1 Samuel 17:33).
And when the boy David stepped onto the battlefield,
Goliath "looked David over
and saw that he was little more than a boy" (v. 42).
However, David didn't step into battle alone.
He came "in the name of the Lord Almighty,
the God of the armies of Israel" (v. 45).
And when the day was done, a victorious David stood above a dead Goliath.
No matter how enormous the problem,
when God is with us there's nothing
that we need to fear.
With His strength, we're also mighty.

Week 5 Rejoice in Grace – Day 7 Break up Your Fallow Ground
Hosea 10:12
12 Sow to yourselves righteousness,
reap mercy,
break up your fallow ground;
for it is time to seek the Lord,
until He comes
and rains righteousness upon you.
When a farmer prepares to plant his crop, a great deal od preparation
is necessary before the seen can be sown. He has to plow up the ground,
turning under the stubble from the previous harvest, harrow the field to
break up the clods, and fertilise- readying the soil for optimum growht.
A fallow field, one that was not planted the previous season, must be
broken and worked so that the seed can find root in the ground.
The bible likens spiritual growth to raising crops. God is the one
who brings rain and gives growth, but the success or failure
of the seed - both in initial salvation and in ongoing maturity -
is often linked to how well the soil has been prepared.
That preparation isn't always a pleasant or rewarding process.
We may resist the plowing or harrowing that comes through
the Holy Spirit's convictoin of sin. We may need to dig up boulders
of bitterness and thistles of anger; we may have to plow under the
stubble of the last crop of lessons, working that mulch deep into our lives.
But the final outcome is worth the effort - even the pain - that
preparation brings. Broken up, harrowed, readied for the seed of God's Word,
we are rich and fertile ground, and the seed of righteousness produces
an abundant crop in us.
Application
a) In what ways have I been "broken up" and "harrowed" by the Holy
Spirit to prepare me for God's work in me?
b) How can I apply these verses to myself? How can I
"sow in righteousness," "reap in mercy,"
"break up my fallow ground"?

2015 Population - 4631302 Muslims about 136493
British Columbia - British Columbia's Muslim Population is growing constantly.
Every week there are immigrants ad refugees coming to the Greater Vancouver
and surrounding areas. There are also significant Muslim student populations
in our colleges and universities. Some have even suggested that there are
between 4000 and 5000 Saudi Arabian students alone, without counting all
other nationalities.
Greater Vancouver has an estimated 180000 Muslims, and there are significant
and growing communities in the Fraser Valley such as in Langley, Abbotsford,
Chilliwack, etc. Including these communities the total population for this
region is about 200000.
Of these, there are an estimated 100000 Iranians, 35000 Arabs, 15000 Ismailis,
more than 20000 Afghanis, 10000 South Asian Muslims, 3000 Turks, and small
numbers from other countries such as Sudan, Somalia, Albania, etc.
We are seeing some Muslims coming to Christ and we rejoice in that.
A few people also have some ongoing ministry to Muslims in the area,
for which we also rejoice. Let us agree in that
- the church will catch a vision to pray,
and a burden to train outreach to Muslims
- the church will press in to participate in effective
discipleship of these new Muslim background believers.

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.
For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.
You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"
Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you
know, and Muslims around the world:
- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.
Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,
"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
18 Even on My menservants and maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.
19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below:
blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,
and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes.
21 And whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."[a]

- When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims
throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days!
My paternal side is of Muslim heritage and will offer this section to further
call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity
(Hindus, Jews, aboriginals Canadian, ...) .

Day 13: Whom Shall I Fear?
Verse of the Day: Psalm 46:1-2

1 God is our refuge and strength,
a well-proven help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear,
though the earth be removed,
and though the mountains
be carried into the midst of the sea
Who Is My Neighbor?
For many of us it can come too easily to allow fear and anxiety to grip us
and cause us to forget who is in control. God is in control when we listen,
we can hear Him reminding us to "take courage and do not be afraid".
Whatever His will, we need to know that it is the best for us.
We shall not fear!
Reflection:
While we might still feel afraid from time to time, we can
believe that God is with us no matter what. We may not be in control,
but we can trust the One who is. We may not know the future,
but we can know the God who does.
It's not always easy, and it often comes down to a choice:
• Choosing not to allow fear and anxiety to control our lives.
• Choosing to guard our hearts.
• Choosing to focus our minds on what is true in the midst of uncertain times.
Prayer:
Lord God, be our strength and help us to trust in You.
Lord, it feels like we live in a crazy and chaotic world more now than ever.
You also know the struggles of our daily lives; you know when it all gets to be too much.
Calm our thoughts and emotions and help us focus on You on Your peace, comfort, and wisdom.
Help us not to give in to fear and to continue to lay our cares and concerns at Your feet.
In Jesus name, Amen.

King Og Defeated

Division of the Land
12 This is the land which we possessed at that time from Aroer, which is by the River Arnon,
and half the hill country of Gilead and its cities I gave to the Reubenites and to the Gadites.
13 The rest of Gilead, and all Bashan, the kingdom of Og, I gave to the half-tribe of Manasseh.
(All the region of Argob, with all Bashan, was called the land of giants.
14 Jair, the son of Manasseh, took all the region of Argob,
that is, Bashan, as far as the border of the Geshurites and the Maakathites,
and called the villages after his own name, Havvoth Jair, as it is to this day.)
15 I gave Gilead to Makir.
16 To the Reubenites and to the Gadites I gave the territory from Gilead

half the valley as the border to the River Jabbok,
which is the border of the Ammonites;
17 the plain also, with the Jordan as the border, from Kinnereth
as far as the east side of the Sea of the Arabah
(that is, the Dead Sea), below the slopes of Pisgah.
18 Then I commanded you at that time, saying,
"The Lord your God has given you this land to possess it.
All you men of valor shall pass over armed before your brothers,
the children of Israel.
19 But your wives and your little ones, and your livestock
(for I know that you have much livestock) shall remain in your cities
which I have given you
20 until the Lord has given rest to your brothers, as well as to you,
and until they also possess the land
which the Lord your God has given them beyond the Jordan.
Then each of you shall return to
his possession which I have given you."
Moses Forbidden to Cross the Jordan
21 I commanded Joshua at that time, saying,
"Your eyes have seen all that the Lord your God has done to these two kings.
So shall the Lord do to all the kingdoms where you pass.
22 Do not fear them, for the Lord your God, He shall fight for you."
23 I pleaded with the Lord at that time, saying,
24 "O Lord God, You have begun to show Your servant Your greatness,
and Your mighty hand, for what god is there in heaven or in earth
that can do according to Your works and according to Your might?
25 Let me, I pray, go over and see the good land
that is beyond the Jordan, that good hill country, and Lebanon."
26 But the Lord was angry with me because of you and would not listen to me,
and the Lord said to me, "Enough of that! Speak to Me no more of this matter.
27 Get up to the top of Pisgah and lift up your eyes
to the west and north and south and east,
and see it with your eyes, for you shall not cross over this Jordan.
28 But charge Joshua and encourage him and strengthen him,
for he shall cross over before this people,
and he shall cause them to inherit the land which you will see."
29 So we remained in the valley over against Beth Peor.
Conclusion:
Pray not to squander the blessings of the Lord
Pray to give your burdens to the Lord
Pray for forgiveness of sins and repentance.
Pray to accept Jesus in your life
