Genesis 8
The Flood Recedes
1 God remembered Noah and every living thing and all the livestock that were
with him in the ark.
So God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the water receded.
2 Also the fountains of the deep and the floodgates of heaven were closed,
and the rain from the heavens was restrained.
3 The water receded steadily from the earth,
and after the end of one hundred and fifty days the waters decreased.
4 The ark rested in the seventh month,
on the seventeenth day of the month,
on the mountains of Ararat.
5 The water continually decreased until the tenth month.
In the tenth month, on the first day of the month,
the tops of the mountains became visible.
6 Then at the end of forty days, Noah opened the window of the
ark which he had made,
7 and he sent forth a raven, which went to and fro until the waters
were dried up on the earth.
8 Then he sent out a dove to see if the waters had subsided
from the face of the ground.
9 But the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, so she
returned to him into the ark,
for the waters were on the surface of all the earth.
Then he put forth his hand, and took her,
and brought her into the ark to himself.
10 He waited yet another seven days, and again
he sent out the dove from the ark.
11 The dove came to him in the evening, and in her mouth there was a freshly
plucked olive leaf.
So Noah knew that the waters had receded from the earth.
12 He waited another seven days and sent out the dove again,
but it did not return to him again.
13 So in the six hundred and first year, in the first month,
the first day of the month,
the waters were dried up from the earth;
and Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked,
and saw the surface of the ground was dry.
14 In the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month,
the earth was dry.
15 Then God spoke to Noah, saying,
16 "Go out of the ark, you and your wife, and your sons and your sons'
wives with you.
17 Bring out with you every living thing of all flesh that is with you,
birds and animals,
and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth,
so that they may breed abundantly on the earth and be fruitful and multiply on the earth."
18 So Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons' wives went out.
19 Every beast, every creeping thing, every bird, and everything
that moves on the earth, according to their families, went out of the ark.
20 Then Noah built an altar to the Lord and took of every clean animal
and of every clean bird and offered burnt offerings on the altar.
21 The Lord smelled a soothing aroma; and the Lord said in His heart,
"I will never again curse the ground because of man, for the inclination
of man's
heart is evil from his youth,
nor will I again destroy every living thing as I have done.
22 While the earth remains,
seedtime and harvest,
cold and heat,
summer and winter,
and day and night
will not cease."
Genesis 9
The Noahic Covenant
1 Then God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them,
"Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth.
2 Every beast of the earth and every bird of the sky and all
that moves on the earth and all the fish of the sea will fear you
and be terrified of you. They are given into your hand.
3 Every moving thing that lives will be food for you.
I give you everything, just as I gave you the green plant.
4 "Only you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood.
5 But for your own lifeblood I will surely require a reckoning;
from every animal will I require it;
of man, too, will I require a reckoning for human life,
of every man for that of his fellow man.
6 Whoever sheds the blood of man,
by man shall his blood be shed;
for God made man
in His own image.
7 And as for you, be fruitful and multiply; increase
abundantly in the earth and multiply in it."
8 Again God spoke to Noah and to his sons with him, saying,
9 "As for Me, I establish My covenant with you, and with your
descendants after you;
10 and with every living creature that is with you, the birds, the livestock,
and every beast of the earth with you; of all that comes
out of the ark, every beast of the earth.
11 I establish My covenant with you. Never again shall all
flesh be cut off by the waters of a flood.
Never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth."
12 Then God said, "This is the sign of the covenant which
I am making between Me
and you and every living creature that is with you,
for all future generations.
13 I have set My rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of a covenant
between Me and the earth.
14 When I bring a cloud over the earth, the rainbow will be seen in the cloud;
15 then I will remember My covenant,
which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh,
and the waters will never again become a flood to destroy all flesh.
16 The rainbow will appear in the cloud, and I will see it
and remember the everlasting covenant between God
and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth."
17 So God said to Noah, "This is the sign of the covenant that
I have established between Me and all flesh that is on the earth.â€
The Sons of Noah
18 The sons of Noah who went forth from the ark were Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
Ham was the father of Canaan.
19 These were the three sons of Noah,
and from them the whole earth was populated.
20 Noah began to be a man of the soil, and he planted a vineyard.
21 Then he drank some of the wine and became drunk,
and lay uncovered (naked) in his tent.
22 And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father,
and told his two brothers outside.
23 So Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders,
and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father.
Their faces were turned away, and they did not see their father's nakedness.
24 When Noah awoke from his wine and knew what his younger son had done to him,
25 he said,
“Canaan be cursed!
He will be a servant of servants
to his brothers.â€
26 He also said,
“Blessed be the Lord God of Shem,
and let Canaan be his servant.
27 May God enlarge Japheth,
and may he dwell in the tents of Shem,
and may Canaan be his servant.â€
28 Noah lived after the flood three hundred and fifty years.
29 All the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years, and then he died.

The Table of Nations
1 Now these are the generations of Shem, Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah. And sons were born to them after the flood.
The Japhethites
2The sons of Japheth were
Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshek, and Tiras.
3The sons of Gomer were
Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah. (Askenaz as in Ashkenazi)

14 Pathrusites, Kasluhites (from whom came the Philistines), and Caphtorites.
15 Canaan was the father of
Sidon his firstborn and Heth,
16 and the Jebusites, Amorites, Girgashites,
17 Hivites, Arkites, Sinites,
18 Arvadites, Zemarites, and the Hamathites.
Later the families of the Canaanites spread abroad.
19 The border of the Canaanites was from Sidon toward Gerar to Gaza,
and then to Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, Zeboyim, as far as Lasha.
20 These are the sons of Ham, according to their families,
according to their languages, in their lands and in their nations.

The Tower of Babel
1 Now the whole earth had one language and the same words.

"Let us make bricks and bake them thoroughly."
And they had brick for stone and tar for mortar.

Then they said, "Come, let us build us a city and a tower,
whose top will reach to heaven,
and let us make a name for ourselves;
otherwise we will be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth."
5But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower that
the sons of men built.
6The Lord said, "The people are one and they have one language,
and this is only the beginning of what they will do;
now nothing that they propose to do will be impossible for them.
7 Come, let us go down and there confuse their language,
so that they may not understand one another’s speech.â€
8 So the Lord scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth,
and they stopped building the city.
9 Therefore the name of it was called Babel,
because there the Lord confused the language of all the earth.
From there the Lord scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth.

Shem's Descendants

10 These are the generations of Shem.
Shem was a hundred years old,
and two years after the flood he became the father of Arphaxad.
11 Shem lived after the birth of Arphaxad five hundred years,
and had other sons and daughters.
12 Arphaxad lived thirty-five years, and became the father of Shelah.
13 Arphaxad lived after the birth of Shelah four hundred and three years,
and had other sons and daughters.
14 Shelah lived thirty years, and became the father of Eber.
15 Shelah lived after the birth of Eber four hundred and three years,
and had other sons and daughters.
16 Eber lived thirty-four years, and became the father of Peleg.
17 Eber lived after the birth of Peleg four hundred and thirty years,
and had other sons and daughters.
18 Peleg lived thirty years, and became the father of Reu.

20 Reu lived thirty-two years, and became the father of Serug.
21 Reu lived after the birth of Serug two hundred and seven years,

22 Serug lived thirty years, and became the father of Nahor.
23 Serug lived after the birth of Nahor two hundred years,
and had other sons and daughters.
24 Nahor lived twenty-nine years, and became the father of Terah.
25 Nahor lived after the birth of Terah one hundred and nineteen years,
and had other sons and daughters.
26 Now Terah lived seventy years,
and became the father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran.
Terah's Descendants
27 These are the generations of Terah.
Terah became the father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran,
and Haran became the father of Lot.
28 Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his birth,
in Ur of the Chaldeans. 29 Abram and Nahor took wives.
The name of Abram's wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahor's wife,
Milkah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milkah and the father of Iskah.
30 But Sarai was barren; she had no child.
31 Terah took his son Abram and his grandson Lot, son of Haran,
and his daughter-in-law Sarai, his son Abram’s wife,
and they went out together from Ur of the Chaldeans
to go into the land of Canaan; but when they came to Harran,
they settled there.
32 The days of Terah were two hundred and five years, and Terah died in Harran.

John 14:1-7
Jesus the Way to the Father
1 "Let not your heart be troubled. You believe in God. Believe also in Me.
2 In My Father's house are many dwelling places. If it were not so,
I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you
to Myself, that where I am, you may be also.
4 You know where I am going, and you know the way."
5 Thomas said to Him, "Lord, we do not know where You are going.
How can we know the way?"
6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through Me.
7 If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also.
From now on you do know Him and have seen Him."
"Don’t get on the expressway!" That text came from my daughter one day as
I was leaving work. The highway home had become a virtual parking lot.
I began trying alternate routes, but after experiencing
gridlock on other roads, I gave up. The trip home would have to wait
till later in the day, so I drove in the opposite direction
to an athletic event my granddaughter was involved in.
Discovering that no roads would lead me home made me
think about people who say that all roads lead
to an eternal relationship with God.
Some believe the road of kindness and good behavior
will get you there. Others choose the road of doing religious things.
Relying on those roads, however, leads to a dead end.
There's only one road to take to God's eternal presence.
Jesus clarified this when He said, "I am the way and the truth and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6).
He was revealing that He was going to die to open the way
for us to enter His Father's house—to His presence
and the real life He provides for today and eternity.
Skip the blocked highways that don't lead to God's presence.
Instead, trust Jesus as Savior, for "whoever believes in the Son has
eternal life" (3:36). And for those who already believe in Him,
rest in the way He's provided.

Week 5 Rejoice in Grace – Day 6 God Works!
Phil 2:12-13
12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not only in my presence,
but so much more in my absence, work out your own salvation
with fear and trembling.
13 For God is the One working in you, both to will and to do His good pleasure.
"I just can't di it!" Marlys, a carrer woman in her 30s, was struggling to fit
hew ner Christian pricinples into the business world. Accustomed to the
cutthroat tactics of the corporate hierarchy, she has a hard time knowing
Jesus' examples of grace and mercy applied.
Marlys was right. She couldn't do it. In our own strength, none of us is able
to "live the Christian life." Someone has said, " The Christian life isn't
difficult -- it's impossible!" Only the power ofthe Holy Spirit is
effetive to work the needed changes in our priorities and behaviour;
only god can accomplish what he calls us to do.
In Phillippians 2:12, Paul says "work it out." If we stop there,
we are likely to throw up our hands in despair.
But the good news appears in verse 13:
" For God is the One working in you, both to will and to do His good pleasure."
WE are not left on our own to figure out how to live the Christian life.
God gives us both the will and the ability to obey him, to live in a way
that will please him.
The key to a God-pleasing life is not performance, but obedience. God does not
expect us to "do great things" for him, to deserve his love and grace.
Our part in the process of salvation is to respond in obedience to the Lord,
to say "yes" to wht he asks of us. We cannot change ourselves;
we cannot even know ourselves apart from the Spirit's insight. But
as we cooperate with him, as we agree to be obedient, the Spirit changes us
within, and those changes are "worked out" into our lives.

2015 Population - 4631302 Muslims about 136493
British Columbia - British Columbia's Muslim Population is growing constantly.
Every week there are immigrants ad refugees coming to the Greater Vancouver
and surrounding areas. There are also significant Muslim student populations
in our colleges and universities. Some have even suggested that there are
between 4000 and 5000 Saudi Arabian students alone, without counting all
other nationalities.
Greater Vancouver has an estimated 180000 Muslims, and there are significant
and growing communities in the Fraser Valley such as in Langley, Abbotsford,
Chilliwack, etc. Including these communities the total population for this
region is about 200000.
Of these, there are an estimated 100000 Iranians, 35000 Arabs, 15000 Ismailis,
more than 20000 Afghanis, 10000 South Asian Muslims, 3000 Turks, and small
numbers from other countries such as Sudan, Somalia, Albania, etc.
We are seeing some Muslims coming to Christ and we rejoice in that.
A few people also have some ongoing ministry to Muslims in the area,
for which we also rejoice. Let us agree in that
- the church will catch a vision to pray,
and a burden to train outreach to Muslims
- the church will press in to participate in effective
discipleship of these new Muslim background believers.

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.
For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.
You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"
Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you
know, and Muslims around the world:
- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.
Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,
"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
18 Even on My menservants and maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.
19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below:
blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,
and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes.
21 And whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."[a]

- Pray for Christian workers an organisations focused on seeing effective
discipleship movements among Muslim people.
- Ask the Holy Spirit to continue to inspire you to have god's heart for
Muslims, to see them as He does, and to be the light that then to Jesus.
Matthew 5:14-15 : 14 "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a
hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do men light a candle and put it under
a basket, but on a candlestick. And it gives light to all who are in the
house."
Ideas for prayer
- Pray for opportunities to show the love of Christ to Muslims around you
- Pray for, and offer generous hospitality to, those you know who are serving
Christ among Muslim people -
Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."
- When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims
throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days!
My paternal side is of Muslim heritage and will offer this section to further
call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity
(Hindus, Jews, aboriginals Canadian, ...) .

a) Pray for the Lord to convict all Canadians of His Righteous

and you will see Me no more;
11 and of judgment, because the ruler of this world stands condemned."

b) Pray for the province of Nova Scotia
I) Pray for the leaders of Nova Scotia, that God’s Spirit would influence then to act justly, serve with integrity and honour high moral standards. ( 1 Tim 2:1 – 4 1 Therefore I exhort first of all that you make supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings for everyone, 2 (Ezr 6:10) for kings and for all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceful life in all godliness and honesty, 3(1Ti 1:1; Lk 1:47) for this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 (Eze 18:23; 18:32)who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
II) Pray for the churches of the province, that they would be lighthouses beaming forth the illuminating truth of God’s Word.
III) Pray that the Lord would use the Finding the Hope Campaign and booklet to turn many hearts to Jesus

Day 12: Hope
Verse of the Day: Matthew 12:21
21 "and in His name will the Gentiles trust."
We as humans have different definitions of hope than the definition of
hope God has. We may hope we will not get sick, lose our jobs or homes.
We hope that our kids grow up knowing the Lord, maybe even hope that our
favourite team wins the Stanley Cup. That is not a biblical definition of hope.
The biblical definition of hope is "an assured expectation."
Reflection:
The hope that we have in God, is it with the assured expectation?
Or are we just wishing and hoping.
Prayer:
Dear God, when I start a new day, let me have Your vision for the day ahead.
Let it be filled with hope, replenish my soul, and give me the strength
to face whatever lies before me.
Help me when I struggle with everything that is going on.
Help me remember that everything here is temporary.
Help me to focus on eternal things and fill me with faith, hope and love.
Give me the chance to share the faith and the hope and love that I have in You.
In Jesus name, I pray Amen.

Genesis 8
The Flood Recedes
1 God remembered Noah and every living thing and all the livestock that were
with him in the ark.
So God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the water receded.
2 Also the fountains of the deep and the floodgates of heaven were closed,
and the rain from the heavens was restrained.
3 The water receded steadily from the earth,
and after the end of one hundred and fifty days the waters decreased.
4 The ark rested in the seventh month,
on the seventeenth day of the month,
on the mountains of Ararat.
5 The water continually decreased until the tenth month.
In the tenth month, on the first day of the month,
the tops of the mountains became visible.
6 Then at the end of forty days, Noah opened the window of the
ark which he had made,
7 and he sent forth a raven, which went to and fro until the waters
were dried up on the earth.
8 Then he sent out a dove to see if the waters had subsided
from the face of the ground.
9 But the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, so she
returned to him into the ark,
for the waters were on the surface of all the earth.
Then he put forth his hand, and took her,
and brought her into the ark to himself.
10 He waited yet another seven days, and again
he sent out the dove from the ark.
11 The dove came to him in the evening, and in her mouth there was a freshly
plucked olive leaf.
So Noah knew that the waters had receded from the earth.
12 He waited another seven days and sent out the dove again,
but it did not return to him again.
13 So in the six hundred and first year, in the first month,
the first day of the month,
the waters were dried up from the earth;
and Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked,
and saw the surface of the ground was dry.
14 In the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month,
the earth was dry.
15 Then God spoke to Noah, saying,
16 "Go out of the ark, you and your wife, and your sons and your sons'
wives with you.
17 Bring out with you every living thing of all flesh that is with you,
birds and animals,
and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth,
so that they may breed abundantly on the earth and be fruitful and multiply on the earth."
18 So Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons' wives went out.
19 Every beast, every creeping thing, every bird, and everything
that moves on the earth, according to their families, went out of the ark.
20 Then Noah built an altar to the Lord and took of every clean animal
and of every clean bird and offered burnt offerings on the altar.
21 The Lord smelled a soothing aroma; and the Lord said in His heart,
"I will never again curse the ground because of man, for the inclination
of man's
heart is evil from his youth,
nor will I again destroy every living thing as I have done.
22 While the earth remains,
seedtime and harvest,
cold and heat,
summer and winter,
and day and night
will not cease."

The Noahic Covenant
1 Then God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them,
"Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth.
2 Every beast of the earth and every bird of the sky and all
that moves on the earth and all the fish of the sea will fear you
and be terrified of you. They are given into your hand.
3 Every moving thing that lives will be food for you.
I give you everything, just as I gave you the green plant.
4 "Only you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood.
5 But for your own lifeblood I will surely require a reckoning;
from every animal will I require it;
of man, too, will I require a reckoning for human life,
of every man for that of his fellow man.
6 Whoever sheds the blood of man,

out of the ark, every beast of the earth.
11 I establish My covenant with you. Never again shall all
flesh be cut off by the waters of a flood.
Never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth."
12 Then God said, "This is the sign of the covenant which
I am making between Me
and you and every living creature that is with you,
for all future generations.
13 I have set My rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of a covenant
between Me and the earth.
14 When I bring a cloud over the earth, the rainbow will be seen in the cloud;
15 then I will remember My covenant,
which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh,
and the waters will never again become a flood to destroy all flesh.
16 The rainbow will appear in the cloud, and I will see it
and remember the everlasting covenant between God
and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth."
17 So God said to Noah, "This is the sign of the covenant that
I have established between Me and all flesh that is on the earth.â€
The Sons of Noah
18 The sons of Noah who went forth from the ark were Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
Ham was the father of Canaan.
19 These were the three sons of Noah,
and from them the whole earth was populated.
20 Noah began to be a man of the soil, and he planted a vineyard.
21 Then he drank some of the wine and became drunk,
and lay uncovered (naked) in his tent.
22 And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father,
and told his two brothers outside.
23 So Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders,
and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father.
Their faces were turned away, and they did not see their father's nakedness.
24 When Noah awoke from his wine and knew what his younger son had done to him,
25 he said,
“Canaan be cursed!
He will be a servant of servants
to his brothers.â€
26 He also said,
“Blessed be the Lord God of Shem,
and let Canaan be his servant.
27 May God enlarge Japheth,
and may he dwell in the tents of Shem,
and may Canaan be his servant.â€
28 Noah lived after the flood three hundred and fifty years.
29 All the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years, and then he died.

Jesus the Way to the Father
1 "Let not your heart be troubled. You believe in God. Believe also in Me.
2 In My Father's house are many dwelling places. If it were not so,
I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you
to Myself, that where I am, you may be also.
4 You know where I am going, and you know the way."
5 Thomas said to Him, "Lord, we do not know where You are going.
How can we know the way?"
6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through Me.
7 If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also.
From now on you do know Him and have seen Him."
"Don’t get on the expressway!" That text came from my daughter one day as
I was leaving work. The highway home had become a virtual parking lot.
I began trying alternate routes, but after experiencing
gridlock on other roads, I gave up. The trip home would have to wait
till later in the day, so I drove in the opposite direction
to an athletic event my granddaughter was involved in.
Discovering that no roads would lead me home made me
think about people who say that all roads lead
to an eternal relationship with God.
Some believe the road of kindness and good behavior
will get you there. Others choose the road of doing religious things.
Relying on those roads, however, leads to a dead end.
There's only one road to take to God's eternal presence.
Jesus clarified this when He said, "I am the way and the truth and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6).
He was revealing that He was going to die to open the way
for us to enter His Father's house—to His presence
and the real life He provides for today and eternity.
Skip the blocked highways that don't lead to God's presence.
Instead, trust Jesus as Savior, for "whoever believes in the Son has
eternal life" (3:36). And for those who already believe in Him,
rest in the way He's provided.

Phil 2:12-13
12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not only in my presence,
but so much more in my absence, work out your own salvation
with fear and trembling.
13 For God is the One working in you, both to will and to do His good pleasure.
"I just can't di it!" Marlys, a carrer woman in her 30s, was struggling to fit
hew ner Christian pricinples into the business world. Accustomed to the
cutthroat tactics of the corporate hierarchy, she has a hard time knowing
Jesus' examples of grace and mercy applied.
Marlys was right. She couldn't do it. In our own strength, none of us is able
to "live the Christian life." Someone has said, " The Christian life isn't
difficult -- it's impossible!" Only the power ofthe Holy Spirit is
effetive to work the needed changes in our priorities and behaviour;
only god can accomplish what he calls us to do.
In Phillippians 2:12, Paul says "work it out." If we stop there,
we are likely to throw up our hands in despair.
But the good news appears in verse 13:
" For God is the One working in you, both to will and to do His good pleasure."
WE are not left on our own to figure out how to live the Christian life.
God gives us both the will and the ability to obey him, to live in a way
that will please him.
The key to a God-pleasing life is not performance, but obedience. God does not
expect us to "do great things" for him, to deserve his love and grace.
Our part in the process of salvation is to respond in obedience to the Lord,
to say "yes" to wht he asks of us. We cannot change ourselves;
we cannot even know ourselves apart from the Spirit's insight. But
as we cooperate with him, as we agree to be obedient, the Spirit changes us
within, and those changes are "worked out" into our lives.

British Columbia - British Columbia's Muslim Population is growing constantly.
Every week there are immigrants ad refugees coming to the Greater Vancouver
and surrounding areas. There are also significant Muslim student populations
in our colleges and universities. Some have even suggested that there are
between 4000 and 5000 Saudi Arabian students alone, without counting all
other nationalities.
Greater Vancouver has an estimated 180000 Muslims, and there are significant
and growing communities in the Fraser Valley such as in Langley, Abbotsford,
Chilliwack, etc. Including these communities the total population for this
region is about 200000.
Of these, there are an estimated 100000 Iranians, 35000 Arabs, 15000 Ismailis,
more than 20000 Afghanis, 10000 South Asian Muslims, 3000 Turks, and small
numbers from other countries such as Sudan, Somalia, Albania, etc.
We are seeing some Muslims coming to Christ and we rejoice in that.
A few people also have some ongoing ministry to Muslims in the area,
for which we also rejoice. Let us agree in that
- the church will catch a vision to pray,
and a burden to train outreach to Muslims
- the church will press in to participate in effective
discipleship of these new Muslim background believers.

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.
For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.
You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"
Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you
know, and Muslims around the world:
- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.
Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,
"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
18 Even on My menservants and maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.
19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below:
blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,
and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes.
21 And whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."[a]

Christ among Muslim people -
Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."
- When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims
throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days!
My paternal side is of Muslim heritage and will offer this section to further
call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity
(Hindus, Jews, aboriginals Canadian, ...) .

I) Pray for the leaders of Nova Scotia, that God’s Spirit would influence then to act justly, serve with integrity and honour high moral standards. ( 1 Tim 2:1 – 4 1 Therefore I exhort first of all that you make supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings for everyone, 2 (Ezr 6:10) for kings and for all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceful life in all godliness and honesty, 3(1Ti 1:1; Lk 1:47) for this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 (Eze 18:23; 18:32)who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
II) Pray for the churches of the province, that they would be lighthouses beaming forth the illuminating truth of God’s Word.
III) Pray that the Lord would use the Finding the Hope Campaign and booklet to turn many hearts to Jesus

Day 12: Hope
Verse of the Day: Matthew 12:21
21 "and in His name will the Gentiles trust."
We as humans have different definitions of hope than the definition of
hope God has. We may hope we will not get sick, lose our jobs or homes.
We hope that our kids grow up knowing the Lord, maybe even hope that our
favourite team wins the Stanley Cup. That is not a biblical definition of hope.
The biblical definition of hope is "an assured expectation."
Reflection:
The hope that we have in God, is it with the assured expectation?
Or are we just wishing and hoping.
Prayer:
Dear God, when I start a new day, let me have Your vision for the day ahead.
Let it be filled with hope, replenish my soul, and give me the strength
to face whatever lies before me.
Help me when I struggle with everything that is going on.
Help me remember that everything here is temporary.
Help me to focus on eternal things and fill me with faith, hope and love.
Give me the chance to share the faith and the hope and love that I have in You.
