Day 7 - 7 Jan

1)Job 17 to 20

Job 17

Job Prays for Relief

1 “My spirit is broken,

my days are extinguished,

the grave is ready for me.

2(1Sa 1:6–7; Job 12:4) Are not mockers with me?

And does not my eye dwell on their provocation?

3(Pr 11:15; Ps 119:122) “Now put down a pledge for me with Yourself.

Who is he who will shake hands with me?

4 For You have hidden their heart from understanding.

Therefore will You not exalt them.

5 (Job 11:20 )He who speaks flattery to his friends,

even the eyes of his children will fail.

6 (Job 30:9; Ps 44:14) “And He has made me a byword of the people,

someone in whose face they spit.

7 (Job 16:16; Ps 6:7) My eye also is dim because of sorrow,

and all my members are like a shadow.

8 Upright men will be astonished at this,

and the innocent will stir up himself against the hypocrite.

9 (Pr 4:18; Job 22:30) The righteous also will hold to his way,

and he who has clean hands will be stronger and stronger.

10 (Job 6:29) “But as for you all, return and come now,

for I cannot find one wise man among you.

11 (Job 7:6) My days are past, my purposes are broken off,

even the thoughts of my heart.

12 They change the night into day;

the light is short because of darkness.

13 If I wait, the grave is my house;

I have made my bed in the darkness.

14 (Ps 16:10) I have said to the pit, ‘You are my father’;

to the worm, ‘You are my mother and my sister.’

15 Where now is my hope?

As for my hope, who will see it?

16 (Job 3:17–19; Jnh 2:6) Will they go down to the gates of Sheol?

Will we descend together in the dust?”

Job 18

Bildad Speaks: God Punishes the Wicked

1 (Job 2:11; 8:1)Then Bildad the Shuhite answered:

2 “How long will it be until you put an end to words?

Gain understanding, and afterwards we will speak.

3 (Ps 73:22) Why are we counted as beasts

and regarded as stupid in your sight?

4 (Job 13:14; 14:18) You who tear yourself in anger,

will the earth be forsaken for you?

And will the rock be removed from its place?

5 (Pr 13:9; 20:20) “Yes, the light of the wicked will be put out,

and the spark of his fire will not shine.

6 The light will be dark in his tent,

and his candle beside him will be put out.

7 (Pr 4:12) The steps of his strength will be shortened,

and his own counsel will cast him down.

8 (Job 22:10; Ps 9:15) For he is cast into a net by his own feet,

and he walks upon a snare.

9 The trap will take him by the heel,

and the snare will prevail against him.

10 The snare is laid for him in the ground,

and a trap for him in the path.

11 (Job 15:21; Jer 6:25) Terrors will make him afraid on every side

and will drive him to his feet.

12 His strength will be hungry,

and destruction will be ready at his side.

13 (Isa 14:30) It will devour the parts of his skin;

the firstborn of death will devour his limbs.

14 His confidence will be rooted out of his tent,

and it will bring him to the king of terrors.

15 (Ps 11:6) They dwell in his tent who have no part with him;

brimstone will be scattered upon his habitation.

16 (Hos 9:16; Job 15:30) His roots will be dried up beneath,

and above his branch will dry up.

17 (Ps 34:16; Pr 10:7) The memory of him will perish from the earth,

and he will have no name in the street.

18 (Job 10:22; 20:8) He will be driven from light into darkness,

and chased out of the world.

19 (Jer 22:30) He has neither descendant nor posterity among his people,

nor anyone remaining in his dwellings.

20 (Ps 37:13; Jer 50:27) They who come after him will be astonished at his day,

as they who went before were seized with fright.

21 (Jer 9:3; Jdg 2:10) Surely such are the dwellings of the wicked,

and this is the place of him who does not know God.”

Job 19

Job Replies: My Redeemer Lives

1 Then Job answered:

2 “How long will you torment my soul

and break me in pieces with words?

3 (Ge 31:7) These ten times you have reproached me;

you are not ashamed that you have wronged me.

4 And if indeed I have erred,

my error remains with me.

5 (Ps 35:26; 38:16) If indeed you exalt yourselves against me

and plead against me with my disgrace,

6 (Job 18:8–10) know now that God has bent me

and has surrounded me with His net.

7 (La 3:8; Hab 1:2–3) “Look, I cry out concerning wrong, but I am not heard;

I cry aloud, but there is no justice.

8 (Job 3:23; La 3:7) He has fenced up my way that I cannot pass,

and He has set darkness in my paths.

9 (Ps 89:44; 89:39) He has stripped me of my glory

and taken the crown from my head.

10 (Job 24:20) He has destroyed me on every side, and I am gone;

my hope He has uprooted like a tree.

11 (Job 13:24; 16:9) He has also kindled His wrath against me,

and He counts me as one of His enemies.

12 (Job 30:12) His troops come together

and build up their road against me;

they set up camp all around my tent.

13 (Ps 69:8; 88:8) “He has removed my brothers far from me,

and my acquaintances are completely estranged from me.

14 (Ps 38:11) My relatives have failed,

and my close friends have forgotten me.

15 Those who dwell in my house, and my maidservants,

count me for a stranger;

I am a foreigner in their sight.

16 I called my servant, but he gave me no answer;

I begged him with my mouth.

17 My breath is offensive to my wife;

I am loathsome to the children of my own body.

18 (2Ki 2:23) Yes, young children despise me;

I arose, and they spoke against me.

19 (Ps 41:9; 55:12–14) All my close friends abhorred me,

and they whom I love are turned against me.

20 (Ps 102:5; La 4:8) My bones cling to my skin and to my flesh,

and I have escaped by the skin of my teeth.

21 (Job 1:11; Ps 38:2) “Have pity upon me, have pity upon me, O you my friends,

for the hand of God has struck me!

22 (Ps 69:26) Why do you persecute me as God does,

and are not satisfied with my flesh?

23 (Isa 30:8) “Oh, that my words were written!

Oh, that they were inscribed in a book!

24(Jer 17:1) That they were engraved with an iron pen

and lead in the rock forever!

25 (Ps 19:14; Isa 43:14) For I know that my Redeemer lives,

and He will stand at last on the earth;

26 (Ps 17:15; 1Jn 3:2; 1Co 13:12) and after my skin is destroyed,

yet in my flesh I will see God,

27 (Ps 73:26) whom I will see for myself,

and my eyes will behold, and not another.

How my heart yearns within me.

28(Job 19:22) “If you should say, ‘How shall we persecute him?’

since the root of the matter is found in me,

29 be afraid of the sword for yourselves;

for wrath brings the punishments of the sword,

that you may know there is a judgment.”

(Jesus is our Redeemer)

Job 20

Zophar Speaks: The Wicked Will Suffer

1 (Job 2:11)Then Zophar the Naamathite answered:

2 “Therefore my thoughts cause me to answer,

and for this I make haste.

3 I have heard the rebuke that disgraces me,

and the spirit of my understanding causes me to answer.

4 “Do you not know this of old,

since man was placed upon earth,

5 (Ps 37:35–36) that the triumphing of the wicked is short,

and the joy of the hypocrite is but for a moment?

6 ( Isa 14:13–14; Ob 1:3–4) Though his loftiness extends to the heavens,

and his head reaches to the clouds,

7 (1Ki 14:10; 2Ki 9:37) yet he will perish forever like his own excrement;

those who have seen him will say, ‘Where is he?’

8 (Ps 73:20; 90:5) He will fly away like a dream and will not be found;

yes, he will be chased away as a vision of the night.

9 (Job 7:8; 7:10) The eye that saw him will see him no more;

nor will his place behold him anymore.

10 (Job 20:18) His children will seek favor from the poor,

and his hands will give back his wealth.

11 (Job 13:26; 21:26) His bones are full of his youthful vigor,

but it will lie down with him in the dust.

12 (Job 15:16; Ps 10:7) “Though evil is sweet in his mouth,

and he hides it under his tongue,

13 though he spares it and does not forsake it,

but keeps it in his mouth,

14 yet his food in his stomach turns sour;

it becomes the venom of cobras within him.

15 He has swallowed down riches,

and he will vomit them up again;

God will cast them out of his belly.

16He will suck the poison of cobras;

the viper’s tongue will slay him.

17 (Dt 32:13–14; Job 29:6) He will not see the streams, the rivers,

the brooks of honey and butter.

18 (Job 20:10; 20:15) He will give back the produce of labor and will not swallow it down.

According to his wealth the restitution will be, and he will not rejoice in it;

19 (Job 35:9) because he has oppressed and has forsaken the poor.

He has violently taken away a house that he did not build.

20 (Ecc 5:13–14) “Because he knows no quietness in his belly,

he will not save anything he desired.

21 Nothing is left for him to eat;

therefore his prosperity will not endure.

22 In his self-sufficiency he will be in distress;

every hand of misery will come upon him.

23 (Ps 78:30–31; Nu 11:33) When he is about to fill his belly,

God will cast the fury of His wrath on him

and will rain it on him while he is eating.

24 (Isa 24:18; Am 5:19) He will flee from the iron weapon;

a bronze bow will pierce him through.

25 (Job 16:13; 18:11) It is drawn and comes out of the body;

yes, the glittering point comes out of his gall.

Terrors are upon him.

26 (Ps 21:9) Total darkness is stored up for his treasures.

An unfanned fire will consume him;

what is left in his tent will be consumed.

27 (Job 16:18; Isa 26:21) The heavens will reveal his iniquity,

and the earth will rise up against him.

28 The increase of his house will depart,

and his goods will flow away in the day of His wrath.

29 (Job 27:13; 31:2–3) This is the wicked man’s portion from God,

and the inheritance appointed to him by God.”

(God will punish the wicked)

2) Our Daily Bread for 7 Jan 2021 https://odb.org/CA/2021/01/07/sound-the-trumpets entitled Sound the Trumpets

Today's Scripture & Insight: Numbers 10:8-10

8 (Nu 31:6; 1Ch 15:24)The sons of Aaron, the priests, will blow the trumpets, and they will be to you as an ordinance forever throughout your generations.

9 (Ge 8:1; Jdg 2:18_ And if you go to war in your land against the enemy that oppresses you, then you will blow an alarm with the trumpets, and you will be remembered before the Lord your God, and you will be saved from your enemies.

10 (Ps 81:3; Lev 23:24 _ Also in the day of your gladness, and at your appointed days, and in the beginnings of your months, you shall blow the trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings that they may be a memorial for you before your God. I am the Lord your God.

“Taps” is a trumpet call played by the US military at the end of the day as well as at funerals. I was amazed when I read the unofficial lyrics and discovered that many of the verses end with the phrase “God is nigh” (God is near). Whether before the dark of each night settles in or while mourning the loss of a loved one, the lyrics offer soldiers the beautiful assurance that God is near.

In the Old Testament, trumpets were also a reminder to the Israelites that God was near. In the middle of celebrating the feasts and festivals that were part of the covenant agreement between God and the nation of Israel, the Jews were to “sound the trumpets” (Numbers 10:10). Blowing a trumpet was a reminder not only of God’s presence but also that He was available when they needed Him most—and He longed to help them.

Today, we still need reminders that God is near. And in our own style of worship, we too can call out to God in prayer and song. Perhaps our prayers can be thought of as trumpets asking God to help us. And the beautiful encouragement is that God always hears those calls (1 Peter 3:12). To each of our pleas, He responds with the assurance of His presence that strengthens and comforts us in the difficulties and sorrows of life.

Reflect & Pray

When have your prayers felt like calls for help? How does the reminder that God listens to our prayers encourage you?

Heavenly Father, thank You that You respond to my call for help and assure me of Your powerful presence and love.

Week 4 – The Blessings of Grace Day 5 – 1 John 1:9

9 (Ps 32:5; Pr 28:13) If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

“If God already knows everything about me, everything I’ve done, then why do I need to confess it?” Grant struggled with a common dilemma for many Christians. Indeed, God, knew all his sin – much better than Grant did himself. But Grant needed to confess, not for God’s benefit, but for his own. Grant needed to agree with God that his sin was wrong, and put himself in a position to receive god’s grace in forgiveness.

1 John 1:9 make the process quit clear. We confess, and God forgives and cleanses. Many of us, however, want to take on God’s part as well. We confess, agreeing with God that our sin is wrong. But then we proceed to try to “clean up our act,” bargaining with God, promising that if he will forgive us just this once, we won’t ever to it again.

The problem is, we can never keep such a promise. We probably will do it again, and then we are back where we started, begging for forgiveness, and trying once more to cleanse ourselves for our unrighteousness.

God offers freedom from such futile performance. He says, Just confess. Agree that you sinned. Submit yourself to me. Then I’ll take over from there.” God’s grace does not give us freedom to keep on sinning, of course – we need to cooperate with the work of his Spirit in our lives and do all we can to avoid sin. But we do not have to beg God for forgiveness – forgiveness is offered to us freely.

We do not have to clean up out act before God will accept us; God can make the necessary changes in our lives. When we confess, submit ourselves to god, and allow him to work within us, he is able both to forgive us and to cleanse us from unrighteousness.

Application

a) In what ways have I bartered with God and tried to “Clean up my act” in order to deserve his forgiveness?

b) What is my part in confession? What is God’s response? Why it is important for me to recognize God’s part in my confession and forgiveness?

4) From Prosperity Promises - Kenneth Copeland

Isaiah 1:19

19 (Dt 30:15–16) If you are willing and obedient,

you shall eat the good of the land;

5) From a Book called God's Promises for you:

When you are discouraged or Depressed

Matthew 11: 25-30

25 (Ps 8:2; Jn 11:41) At that time Jesus said, “I thank You, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and revealed them to infants.

26 Even so, Father, for it seemed good in Your sight.

27 (Jn 10:15; Mt 28:18; Jn 1:18) “All things are delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son, except the Father. And no one knows the Father, except the Son and he to whom the Son will reveal Him.

28 (Jn 7:37; 6:37) “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 (Jer 6:16; Jn 13:15) Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me. For I am meek and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.(Jer 6:16).

30 (1Jn 5:3)For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.”

6) This come from Praying for Muslims in Canada 2015 (Is there a 2021 edition?)

2015 Population - 4631302 Muslims about 136493

British Columbia - British Columbia's Muslim Population is growing constantly.

Every week there are immigrants ad refugees coming to the Greater Vancouver

and surrounding areas. There are also significant Muslim student populations

in our colleges and universities. Some have even suggested that there are

between 4000 and 5000 Saudi Arabian students alone, without counting all

other nationalities.

Greater Vancouver has an estimated 180000 Muslims, and there are significant

and growing communities in the Fraser Valley such as in Langley, Abbotsford,

Chilliwack, etc. Including these communities the total population for this

region is about 200000.

Of these, there are an estimated 100000 Iranians, 35000 Arabs, 15000 Ismailis,

more than 20000 Afghanis, 10000 South Asian Muslims, 3000 Turks, and small

numbers from other countries such as Sudan, Somalia, Albania, etc.

We are seeing some Muslims coming to Christ and we rejoice in that.

A few people also have some ongoing ministry to Muslims in the area,

for which we also rejoice. Let us agree in that

- the church will catch a vision to pray,

and a burden to train outreach to Muslims

- the church will press in to participate in effective

discipleship of these new Muslim background believers.

Adding further

30 days of prayer for the Muslim World 24 April to 23 May 2020

Under the Keep Praying page

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month

and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days

of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that

usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,

of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be

decorated and festivals will be held.

For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the

distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of

Islam.

You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",

which means Blessed Eid!"

Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you

know, and Muslims around the world:

- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions

in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about

unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such

movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three

decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim

relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.

Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,

"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;

your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.

18 Even on My menservants and maidservants

I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.

19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below:

blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,

and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes.

21 And whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."[a]

Footnotes

Acts 2:21 Joel 2:28-32.

- Pray for Christian workers an organisations focused on seeing effective

discipleship movements among Muslim people.

- Ask the Holy Spirit to continue to inspire you to have god's heart for

Muslims, to see them as He does, and to be the light that then to Jesus.

Matthew 5:14-15 : 14 "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a

hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do men light a candle and put it under

a basket, but on a candlestick. And it gives light to all who are in the

house."

Ideas for prayer

- Pray for opportunities to show the love of Christ to Muslims around you

- Pray for, and offer generous hospitality to, those you know who are serving

Christ among Muslim people -

Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."

- When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims

throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days!

My paternal side is of Muslim heritage and will offer this section to further

call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity

(Hindus, Jews, aboriginals Canadian, ...) .

5(1Co 10:17; 12:20)so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and all are parts of one another.

6(Ac 13:1; 1Co 13:2)We have diverse gifts according to the grace that is given to us: if prophecy, according to the proportion of faith;

Day 4: Not Against Flesh and Blood

• Verse of the Day:

12(Eph 1:3; 1:21)For our fight is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, and against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

Ephesians 6:12

The Bible makes it very clear that we have an enemy who is trying tosteal from us, kill us and destroy us. When we pray, we take our stand against the enemy and fight from a place of victory. Through Jesus, we are empowered by His Holy Spirit. There is power in God's Word, and every lie the enemy has told us is replaced with God's truth.

Reflection:

Ultimately, the devil has already been defeated by what Jesus did on the cross with his death and resurrection. But the enemy of our soul wants to blind people to the truth of what Jesus has done.

**adapted from a blog on Spiritual warfare Cru.org

Prayer:

Dear God, I recognize that my struggles today are not against the people or circumstances around me but against the enemy. Please help me to see how the enemy is lying to me. Help me to recognize his lies, take them captive, and make all of my thoughts obedient to the truth of Your Word (list out any specific areas God shows you where you have believed a lie that needs to be replaced with His truth).

While the enemy wants to destroy me, I know that You came to give me life to the fullest. I speak the name of Jesus over my life and declare that no weapon formed against me will prosper. I do not have to fear the enemy because the One who is in me is greater than the one who is in the world. In Jesus name, I pray Amen.

Scripture reflection:

James 4:7,

7 (Eph 4:27; 1Pe 5:8–9)Therefore submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

2 Corinthians 10:4-5,

4(Jer 1:10; 2Co 6:7)For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds,

5(Isa 2:11–12; 1Co 1:19)casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

2 Corinthians 4:4

4 (2Co 4:6; Jn 12:31; Heb 1:3) The god of this world (Satan / Lucifer) has blinded the minds of those who do not believe, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.

Conclusion:

Pray for Jesus to be your redeemer.

Pray that in need of help God will show you what to do.

Pray to Good for forgiveness of Sin and submit to him.

Pray to seek Guidance from the Lord for our battle is not a physical one; it is a spiritual one.

Pray to the Lord for all your cares.

Pray for forgiveness of sins and repentance.

Pray to accept Jesus in your life
