Day 66 of My 4th Bible Study Journey - 6 March 2024 reflections
Day 66, 6 March 2024
1) Numbers 27-29
NUMBERS 27
Laws of Inheritance
Nu 36:1-12
1 (Nu 26:33) Then came near the daughters of Zelophehad, the son of Hepher,
the son of Gilead, the son of Makir, the son of Manasseh,
of the families of Manasseh the son of Joseph, and these are
the names of his daughters: Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milkah, and Tirzah.
2 They stood before Moses, and before Eleazar the priest,
and before the leaders and all the assembly by the door of the tent
of meeting, saying,
3 (Nu 26:64-65; 14:35) "Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not
in the company of them that gathered against the Lord, in the company
of Korah, but died in his own sin and had no sons.
4 (Jos 17:4) Why should the name of our father diminish from among
his family, because he has no son? Give to us a possession
among the brothers of our father."
5 Moses brought their case before the Lord.
6 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
7 The daughters of Zelophehad speak right.
You will certainly give them an inheritance among their father's brothers,
and you will cause the inheritance of their father to pass on to them.
8 You will speak to the children of Israel, saying, "If a man dies,
and has no son, then you will cause his inheritance
to pass on to his daughter.
9 If he has no daughter, then you will give his inheritance to his brothers.
10 If he has no brothers, then you will give his inheritance
to his father's brothers.
11 (Nu 35:29; Ru 4:3-6) If his father has no brothers, then you will give
his inheritance to his closest kinsman in his family, and he will possess it.
And it will be for the children of Israel a statute of judgment,
as the Lord commanded Moses."
[1] Then came the daughters of Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of
Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of Manasseh
the son of Joseph: and these are the names of his daughters; Mahlah, Noah,
and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah.
[2] And they stood before Moses, and before Eleazar the priest, and before
the princes and all the congregation, by the door of the tabernacle of the
congregation, saying,
[3] Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not in the company of them
that gathered themselves together against the LORD in the company of Korah;
but died in his own sin, and had no sons.
[4] Why should the name of our father be done away from among his family,
because he hath no son? Give unto us therefore a possession among the
brethren of our father.
[5] And Moses brought their cause before the LORD.
[6] And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
[7] The daughters of Zelophehad speak right: thou shalt surely give them a
possession of an inheritance among their father's brethren; and thou shalt
cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them.
[8] And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a man die,
and have no son, then ye shall cause his inheritance to pass unto his
daughter.
[9] And if he have no daughter, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his
brethren.
[10] And if he have no brethren, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his
father's brethren.
[11] And if his father have no brethren, then ye shall give his inheritance
unto his kinsman that is next to him of his family, and he shall possess it:
and it shall be unto the children of Israel a statute of judgment, as the
LORD commanded Moses.
Joshua to Succeed Moses
12 (Nu 33:47-48) The Lord said to Moses, "Go up into this mountain of Abarim,
and see the land which I have given to the children of Israel.
13 (Nu 31:2; Dt 10:6_ When you have seen it, you also will be gathered
to your people as Aaron your brother was gathered.
14 (Ex 17:7; Nu 20:24) For you rebelled against My commandment in
the Wilderness of Zin when the congregation argued against Me.
You did not show My holiness at the waters before their eyes." (
These are the waters of Meribah in Kadesh in the Wilderness of Zin.)
15 Moses spoke to the Lord, saying,
16 (Nu 16:22) "Let the Lord, the God of the spirits of all flesh,
appoint a man over the assembly
17 (Dt 31:2; 1Ki 22:17) who will go out before them,
and who will go in before them, and who will lead them out,
and who will bring them in, so the assembly of the Lord
will not be like sheep who do not have a shepherd."
18 (Dt 34:9; Ge 41:38; Nu 27:23) The Lord said to Moses,
"Take Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the Spirit,
and lay your hand on him,
19 (Dt 3:28) and cause him to stand before Eleazar the priest
and before all the assembly, and command in their sight.
20 (Jos 1:16-18) You will put some of your majesty on him,
in order that all the assembly of the children of Israel will listen.
21 (Ex 28:30; Jos 9:14) He will stand before Eleazar the priest,
who will ask for him about the judgment of the Urim before the Lord.
At his word will they go out, and at his word they will come in, both
he and all the children of Israel with him, even all the assembly."
22 Moses did as the Lord commanded him, and he took Joshua,
and he caused him to stand before Eleazar the priest
and before all the assembly.
23 (Nu 27:19) And he laid his hands on him
and commanded him as the Lord spoke by the hand of Moses.
[12] And the LORD said unto Moses, Get thee up into this mount Abarim, and
see the land which I have given unto the children of Israel.
[13] And when thou hast seen it, thou also shalt be gathered unto thy
people, as Aaron thy brother was gathered.
[14] For ye rebelled against my commandment in the desert of Zin, in the
strife of the congregation, to sanctify me at the water before their eyes:
that is the water of Meribah in Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.
[15] And Moses spake unto the LORD, saying,
[16] Let the LORD, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the
congregation,
[17] Which may go out before them, and which may go in before them, and
which may lead them out, and which may bring them in; that the congregation
of the LORD be not as sheep which have no shepherd.
[18] And the LORD said unto Moses, Take thee Joshua the son of Nun, a man in
whom is the spirit, and lay thine hand upon him;
[19] And set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation;
and give him a charge in their sight.
[20] And thou shalt put some of thine honour upon him, that all the
congregation of the children of Israel may be obedient.
[21] And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall ask counsel for
him after the judgment of Urim before the LORD: at his word shall they go
out, and at his word they shall come in, both he, and all the children of
Israel with him, even all the congregation.
[22] And Moses did as the LORD commanded him: and he took Joshua, and set
him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation:
[23] And he laid his hands upon him, and gave him a charge, as the LORD
commanded by the hand of Moses.

1 (2Ti 2:21; Ecc 10:4) Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities,
to obey them, to be ready for every good work,
2 (1Ti 3:3; 2Ti 2:24-25) to speak evil of no one, not to be contentious,
but gentle, showing all humility toward everyone.
3 (Col 3:7) We also were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving
various desires and pleasures, living in evil and envy, filled with hatred
and hating each other.
4 (Titus 2:10-11) But when the kindness and the love of God our Saviour
toward mankind appeared,
5 (Ro 12:2; 1Pe 3:21) not by works of righteousness which we have done,
but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of rebirth
and the renewal of the Holy Spirit,
6 (Ro 5:5; Joel 2:28) whom He poured out on us abundantly through
Jesus Christ our Saviour,
7 (Ro 8:17; Titus 1:2) so that, being justified by His grace, we might
become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
8 (1Ti 1:15; Titus 2:14) This is a faithful saying, and these things I want
you constantly to affirm, so that those who have believed in God might be
careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to
everyone.
[1] Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey
magistrates, to be ready to every good work,
[2] To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all
meekness unto all men.
[3] For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived,
serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and
hating one another.
[4] But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man
appeared,
[5] Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his
mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy
Ghost;
[6] Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
[7] That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to
the hope of eternal life.
[8] This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm
constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to
maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.
Though he didn't normally carry money with him, Patrick sensed God was leading
him to tuck a five-dollar bill in his pocket before leaving home. During the
lunch hour at the school where he worked, he understood how God had prepared
him to meet an urgent need. In the midst of the lunchroom buzz, he heard these
words: "Scotty [a child in need] needs $5 to put on his account so he can eat
lunch for the rest of the week." Imagine the emotions Patrick experienced as
he gave his money to help Scotty!
In Titus, Paul reminded believers in Jesus that they weren't saved
"Not by works of righteousness which we have done" (3:5), but they should
might be careful to maintain good works (v. 8; see v. 14). Life can be full,
extremely busy, and hectic. Attending to our own well-being can be
overwhelming. Yet, as believers in Jesus, we're to be "good-works ready."
Rather than being overwhelmed by what we don't have and can't do, let's think
about what we do have and can do as God helps us. In doing so, we get to help
others at the point of their needs, and God is honoured.
"Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds
and glorify your Father in heaven" (Matthew 5:16).

Reflect & Pray
What can hinder good-works readiness in your life?
How can you reorder your life to be available for
helping people who are in need?
Dear Father, please forgive me for the times I've ignored
opportunities to do good. Help me to be more available to help others.

Week 1 Knowing God's Word Day 4 - Arming for Battle
Joshua 1:8
8 (Ps 19:14; 119:15) This Book of the Law must not depart from your mouth.
Meditate on it day and night so that you may act carefully according
to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way successful,
and you will be wise.
8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt
meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according
to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous,
and then thou shalt have good success.
When God spoke these words to Joshua, the young leader's prospects for
"prosperity" and "success" were far from promising. Upon Moses' death,
Joshua was appointed to lead Israel into the Promised Land, to claim
the territory and establish a nation under God's rule.
Joshua was afraid, and for good reason. The people were rebellious
and intractable. And "claiming the land" meant battling many strong enemies.
Yet God told Joshua that his strength would come not in preparing for battle,
but in preparing for battle, but in preparing himself by meditating
on and applying God's word to his life.
We, too, face difficult battles as we seek to enter the "Promised Land"
of God's peace and presence. But his promise is the same as it was to Joshua:
through obedience to the Word, we can find prosperity and success.
God's promise does not necessarily mean financial prosperity
or material success. These victories may come as well, but God's primary
purpose for his people is spiritual success - the victory and joy of living
in fellowship with him. We can be enriched in the knowledge of God and
find power to overcome the enemies of sin and self. The way may not be easy
- after all, there is no victory without conflict - but God promises
that we will succeed as we look to him.
Application
a) What image do I have a personal "Promised Land" that I long
to enter and claim as my own?
b) What enemies will I need to battle in order to enter that land?
c) How can meditation on the Word of God and obedience to him bring me
prosperity and success?

Saskatchewan
Quick facts on Muslims in Saskatchewan
Saskatchewan 2015 population 1125400
est Muslim Population 17279
CNMM Networks: Saskatoon
Saskatoon has seen quick growth in its Muslim population over the past
5 years, which maybe as high as 5000 today. Islamic leaders have
focused specifically on this city , having twice already sent cohorts
of about 70 families to start mosques. There are now 7 Islamic centres
of worship and an ISlamic madrassah (school) located right next to a
Christian school.
Of particular concern recently is the number of young adults who grew up
in evangelical churches and converted to Islam. Most of these are young
women whowere wooed by Muslim man and became emotionally bonded.
Both prior to and after marrying, these women are known to convert to ISlam.
Agree in prayer with us for:
- entire congregations and individual believers to catch God's heart
and passion for reaching Muslims in Saskatoon and the other growing
Muslim population centres of Saskatchewan.
- for the eyes and understanding of Canadian youth to be opened to the
spiritual reality of Islam, and not deceived nor manipulated into
converting to a religion which cannot offer assurance of salvation.
- for the few workers among Muslims now engaged there, and for many more
to be raised up into effective witness.
- for prayer and training events that are starting in Saskatoon
to spread and grow to other cities.

30 days of prayer for the Muslim World 24 April to 23 May 2020
Under the Keep Praying page
When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.
For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.
You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"
Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you
know, and Muslims around the world:
- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.
Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,
"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
18 Even on My menservants and maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.
19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below:
blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,
and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes.
21 And whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."[a]
Footnotes
Acts 2:21 Joel 2:28-32.
- Pray for Christian workers an organisations focused on seeing effective
discipleship movements among Muslim people.
- Ask the Holy Spirit to continue to inspire you to have god's heart for
Muslims, to see them as He does, and to be the light that then to Jesus.
Matthew 5:14-15 : 14 "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a
hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do men light a candle and put it under
a basket, but on a candlestick. And it gives light to all who are in the
house."
Ideas for prayer
- Pray for opportunities to show the love of Christ to Muslims around you
- Pray for, and offer generous hospitality to, those you know who are serving
Christ among Muslim people -
Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."
- When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims
throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days!
My paternal side is of Muslim heritage and will offer this section to further
call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity
(Hindus, Jews, aboriginals Canadian, ...) .

[2] And they stood before Moses, and before Eleazar the priest, and before
the princes and all the congregation, by the door of the tabernacle of the
congregation, saying,
[3] Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not in the company of them
that gathered themselves together against the LORD in the company of Korah;
but died in his own sin, and had no sons.
[18] And the LORD said unto Moses, Take thee Joshua the son of Nun, a man in
whom is the spirit, and lay thine hand upon him;
[19] And set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation;
and give him a charge in their sight.
[23] And he laid his hands upon him, and gave him a charge, as the LORD
commanded by the hand of Moses.

of an ephah of flour as a grain offering, mixed with oil, for one ram;

of wine for a bull, and one-third of a hin

for a ram, and 1/4 of a hin for a lamb. This is the burnt offering
of each month throughout the months of the year.
15 (Nu 28:3; 15:24) Also one male goat as a sin offering to the Lord shall
be offered, besides the regular burnt offering and its drink offering.
[11] And in the beginnings of your months ye shall offer a burnt offering
unto the LORD; two young bullocks, and one ram, seven lambs of the first
year without spot;
[12] And three tenth deals of flour for a meat offering, mingled with oil,
for one bullock; and two tenth deals of flour for a meat offering, mingled
with oil, for one ram;
[13] And a several tenth deal of flour mingled with oil for a meat offering
unto one lamb; for a burnt offering of a sweet savour, a sacrifice made by
fire unto the LORD.
[14] And their drink offerings shall be half an hin of wine unto a bullock,
and the third part of an hin unto a ram, and a fourth part of an hin unto a
lamb: this is the burnt offering of every month throughout the months of the

is the Passover of the Lord.
17 (Lev 23:6) On the fifteenth day of this month is the feast.

18 (Ex 12:16) On the first day there will be a holy convocation.
You will not do any ordinary work,

of an ephah you will offer for a bull, and 2/10ths of an ephah for a ram.
21 1/10th of an ephah you will offer for each of the seven lambs,
22 and one goat as a sin offering, to make an atonement for you.
23 (Nu 28:3) You will offer these in addition to the burnt offering
in the morning, which is for a regular burnt offering.
24 The same way you will offer daily, throughout the seven days,
the food of the sacrifice made by fire, as a pleasing aroma to the Lord.
It will be offered in addition to the regular burnt offering and its drink offering.
25 (Lev 23:8; Ex 12:16) And on the seventh day you will have a holy assembly.
You will not do any ordinary work.
[16] And in the fourteenth day of the first month is the passover of the
LORD.
[17] And in the fifteenth day of this month is the feast: seven days shall
unleavened bread be eaten.
[18] In the first day shall be an holy convocation; ye shall do no manner of
servile work therein:
[19] But ye shall offer a sacrifice made by fire for a burnt offering unto
the LORD; two young bullocks, and one ram, and seven lambs of the first
year: they shall be unto you without blemish:

deals shall ye offer for a bullock, and two tenth deals for a ram;

seven lambs:
[22] And one goat for a sin offering, to make an atonement for you.
[23] Ye shall offer these beside the burnt offering in the morning, which is
for a continual burnt offering.
[24] After this manner ye shall offer daily, throughout the seven days, the
meat of the sacrifice made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD: it
shall be offered beside the continual burnt offering, and his drink
offering.

unto one bullock, two tenth deals unto one ram,
[29] A several tenth deal unto one lamb, throughout the seven lambs;

Doing Good for God
Titus 3:1-8
Maintain Good Deeds
Ghost;
[6] Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;

How can you reorder your life to be available for

- for prayer and training events that are starting in Saskatoon
to spread and grow to other cities.

usually lasts about 3 days.
Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,
"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.

(
Deut 4:6-7
6 (Job 28:28; Pr 1:7 ) Therefore, keep and do them, for this is your wisdom and
your understanding in the sight of the nations which shall hear all these
statutes, and say, "Surely this great nation is a wise and
understanding people."
7 (2Sa 7:23; Ps 46:1) For what nation is there so great, who has a god so near
to it as the Lord our God is in all things whenever we call on Him?
6 Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and
your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these
statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and
understanding people.
7 For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them,
as the LORD our God is in all things that we call upon him for?
Matt 5:13-16
13 (Lev 2:13; Lk 14:34-35) "You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt
loses its saltiness, how shall it be made salty? It is from then on good for
nothing but to be thrown out and to be trampled underfoot by men.
14 (Jn 8:12; Pr 4:18) "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a
hill cannot be hidden.
15 (Mk 4:21; Lk 8:16) Neither do men light a candle and put it under a basket,
but on a candlestick. And it gives light to all who are in the house.
16 (1Pe 2:12; Mt 9:8; Jn 15:8) Let your light so shine before men that they
may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour,
wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing,
but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set
on an hill cannot be hid.
15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on
a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works,
and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Acts 1:8
8 (Mt 28:19; Mk 16:15) "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes
upon you. And you shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and
Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
8 "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you:
and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem,
and in all Judæa, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."

and for all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceful life
in all godliness and honesty, 3 (1Ti 1:1; Lk 1:47) for this is good and
acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 (Eze 18:23; 18:32)who desires all
men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable
