Day 192 of My 3rd Bible Study Journey - 11 July 2023 reflections

Day 192, 11 July 2023

1) Amos 6,7,8,9

Amos 6

Woe to the Complacent

1 (Isa 32:9-11; Am 4:1) Woe to those who are at ease in Zion,

and to those confident on the mount of Samaria,

nobles of the first of the nations,

to whom the house of Israel comes!

2 (Na 3:8; Ge 10:10; 2Ki 18:34) Cross over to Kalneh and see,

and go from there to Hamath the great;

then go down to Gath of the Philistines-

are you better than these kingdoms?

Or is their territory greater than your territory?

3 (Am 9:10; Isa 56:12) You who brush off the day of disaster,

but bring on a session of lawlessness;

4 (Am 3:12; Jas 5:5) who lie upon beds of ivory, and lounge on their couches,

eating lambs from the flock and calves from the stall;

5 (Isa 5:12; Am 5:23) who sing to the sound of the harp

and invent musical instruments for themselves like David;

6 who drink from bowls of wine

and anoint themselves with the finest oils,

but are not grieved over the destruction of Joseph.

7 (Am 7:11; 1Ki 20:16-20) Therefore now they will go

at the head of the captives into exile,

and the revelry of those who are lounging will vanish.

8 (Ps 47:4; Jer 51:14)The Lord God hath sworn by Himself,

an oracle of the Lord the God of Hosts:

I abhor the pride of Jacob

and hate his palaces,

so I will deliver up the city

with all that is in it.

9 (Am 5:3) If there remain ten people in one house, they will die.

10 (1Sa 31:12; Am 8:3) And when a relative or one who prepares

the bodies picks them up to carry them out of the house,

and says to someone in the recesses of the house,

"Is anyone else with you?" and he says, "No," he will say,

"Hush!" not to pronounce the name of the Lord.

11 (Am 3:15; Isa 55:11) But indeed the Lord gives a command,

and He will shatter the great house to bits,

and the small house to pieces.

12 (Am 5:7; Hos 10:4) Can horses run on a rocky crag?

Can one plow the sea with oxen?

But you have turned justice into poison,

and the fruit of righteousness into wormwood,

13 (Isa 28:14-15; Lk 12:19-20) you who rejoice in Lo Debar, who say,

"Is it not by our own strength that we captured Karnaim?"

14 (1Ki 8:65; 2Ki 14:25) Watch: I will raise up against you a nation,

O house of Israel,

says the Lord, the God of Hosts,

and they will oppress you

from Lebo Hamath to the Wadi Arabah.

[1] Woe to them that are at ease in Zion, and trust in the mountain of

Samaria, which are named chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel

came!

[2] Pass ye unto Calneh, and see; and from thence go ye to Hamath the great:

then go down to Gath of the Philistines: be they better than these kingdoms?

or their border greater than your border?

[3] Ye that put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come

near;

[4] That lie upon beds of ivory, and stretch themselves upon their couches,

and eat the lambs out of the flock, and the calves out of the midst of the

stall;

[5] That chant to the sound of the viol, and invent to themselves instruments

of musick, like David;

[6] That drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the chief ointments:

but they are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph.

[7] Therefore now shall they go captive with the first that go captive, and

the banquet of them that stretched themselves shall be removed.

[8] The Lord GOD hath sworn by himself, saith the LORD the God of hosts, I

abhor the excellency of Jacob, and hate his palaces: therefore will I deliver

up the city with all that is therein.

[9] And it shall come to pass, if there remain ten men in one house, that

they shall die.

[10] And a man's uncle shall take him up, and he that burneth him, to bring

out the bones out of the house, and shall say unto him that is by the sides

of the house, Is there yet any with thee? and he shall say, No.

Then shall he say, Hold thy tongue: for we may not make mention o

f the name of the LORD.

[11] For, behold, the LORD commandeth, and he will smite the great house with

breaches, and the little house with clefts.

[12] Shall horses run upon the rock? will one plow there with oxen?

for ye have turned judgment into gall, and the fruit of righteousness

into hemlock:

[13] Ye which rejoice in a thing of nought, which say,

Have we not taken to us horns by our own strength?

[14] But, behold, I will raise up against you a nation, O house of Israel,

saith the LORD the God of hosts; and they shall afflict you from the

entering in of Hamath unto the river of the wilderness.

Amos 7

Plague of Locusts

1 (Joel 1:4; Am 8:1) This is what the Lord God showed me:

He was forming a plague of locusts when the latter growth

was beginning to sprout up, the latter growth after the king's reaping.

2 (Ex 10:15; Isa 37:4) When they had finished devouring the foliage

of the land, I said, "O Lord God, please forgive.

How can Jacob survive? For he is small."

3 (Dt 32:36; Hos 11:8) The Lord relented concerning this:

"It shall not be," said the Lord.

Fire

4 (Isa 66:15-16; Am 7:1) This is what the Lord God showed me:

The Lord God was calling for a judgment by fire. It was consuming

the great deep and was devouring the fields.

5 (Ps 85:4) I said, "O Lord God, please stop. How can Jacob survive?

For he is small."

6 The Lord relented concerning this:

"This also shall not be," said the Lord God.

Plumb Line

7 (2Ki 21:13) This is what He showed me: The Lord was standing by

a wall made using a plumb line, with a plumb line in His hand.

8 (Am 8:2; Jer 15:6; La 2:8) The Lord said to me, "Amos, what do you see?"

And I said, "A plumb line."

Then the Lord said, "See, I am putting a plumb line in the midst

of My people Israel. I will forgive them no more.

9 (2Ki 15:8-10; Ge 46:1) The high places of Isaac will be destroyed,

the sanctuaries of Israel will be laid waste,

and I will rise against the house of Jeroboam with the sword."

The Priest Tries to Banish Amos

10 (Jer 38:4; 26:8-11) Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent a message

to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, "Amos has conspired against you

at the very center of the house of Israel. The country cannot endure

all his words.

11 For this is what Amos said:

'Jeroboam will die by the sword,

and Israel will surely be exiled

away from its land.' "

12 (Mt 8:34; 1Sa 9:9) So Amaziah said to Amos, "O seer, go,

flee back to the land of Judah.

Earn your sustenance there, and prophesy there.

13 (Am 2:12; 1Ki 12:29) But do not prophesy any more at Bethel,

for it is the king's sanctuary and a royal temple."

14 (2Ki 2:5; 4:38) But Amos answered Amaziah: "I am no prophet,

and I am no prophet's disciple. Rather, I am a herdsman

and a dresser of sycamore trees.

15 (Eze 2:3-4; 2Sa 7:8) But the Lord took me away from the flock,

and the Lord said to me, 'Go, prophesy to My people Israel.'

16 (Eze 20:46; 21:2) Now therefore hear the word of the Lord: You say,

'Do not prophesy against Israel,

and do not preach against the house of Isaac.'

17 (2Ki 17:6; Eze 4:13) "Therefore thus says the Lord:

'Your wife will be a prostitute in the city,

your sons and daughters will fall by the sword,

and your land will be divided by measuring line;

you yourself will die in an unclean land;

and Israel will surely go into exile

away from its land.' "

Amos 7

[1] Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me; and, behold, he formed

grasshoppers in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter growth;

and, lo, it was the latter growth after the king's mowings.

[2] And it came to pass, that when they had made an end of eating the grass

of the land, then I said, O Lord GOD, forgive, I beseech thee: by whom shall

Jacob arise? for he is small.

[3] The LORD repented for this: It shall not be, saith the LORD.

[4] Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me: and, behold, the Lord GOD called

to contend by fire, and it devoured the great deep, and did eat up a part.

[5] Then said I, O Lord GOD, cease, I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob

arise? for he is small.

[6] The LORD repented for this: This also shall not be, saith the Lord GOD.

[7] Thus he shewed me: and, behold, the Lord stood upon a wall made by a

plumbline, with a plumbline in his hand.

[8] And the LORD said unto me, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A

plumbline. Then said the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumbline in the midst of

my people Israel: I will not again pass by them any more:

[9] And the high places of Isaac shall be desolate, and the sanctuaries of

Israel shall be laid waste; and I will rise against the house of Jeroboam

with the sword.

[10] Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent to Jeroboam king of Israel,

saying, Amos hath conspired against thee in the midst of the house

of Israel: the land is not able to bear all his words.

[11] For thus Amos saith, Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall

surely be led away captive out of their own land.

[12] Also Amaziah said unto Amos, O thou seer, go, flee thee away into the

land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there:

[13] But prophesy not again any more at Bethel: for it is the king's

chapel, and it is the king's court.

[14] Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I

a prophet's son; but I was an herdman, and a gatherer of sycomore fruit:

[15] And the LORD took me as I followed the flock, and the LORD said unto

me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel.

[16] Now therefore hear thou the word of the LORD: Thou sayest, Prophesy

not against Israel, and drop not thy word against the house of Isaac.

[17] Therefore thus saith the LORD; Thy wife shall be an harlot in the

city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land

shall be divided by line; and thou shalt die in a polluted land:

and Israel shall surely go into captivity forth of his land.

Amos 8

Basket of Fruit

1 (Am 7:1) This is what the Lord God showed me: a basket of summer fruit.

2 (Am 7:8; La 4:18; Mic 7:1) He said, "Amos, what do you see?"

And I said, "A basket of summer fruit."

Then the Lord said to me, "The end has come upon My people Israel.

I will forgive them no more.

3 (Am 5:23; 6:9-10) "The songs of the temple shall become wailings

on that day," says the Lord God.

"The corpses shall be many, cast down everywhere. Hush!"

Against the Greedy

4 (Ps 14:4; Pr 30:14) Hear this, you who trample on the needy

to make the poor of the land fail,

5 (Hos 12:7; 2Ki 4:23) saying,

"When will the New Moon be over,

so that we may sell grain?

And the Sabbath,

that we may open the wheat sales,

making the ephah

[A dry measure of about 3/5 bushel, or 22 liters.] too small,

and the shekel [About 2/5 ounce, or 12 grams.] too heavy,

cheating with dishonest scales,

6 (Am 2:6 ) that we may buy the poor for silver,

the needy for a pair of sandals,

and sell the refuse as wheat?"

7 (Hos 8:13; Am 6:8) The Lord has sworn by the pride of Jacob:

Surely I will never forget any of their deeds.

8 (Am 9:5; Hos 4:3; Ps 18:7) Will not the land tremble because of this,

and everyone mourn who lives on it?

It will all rise up like the Nile,

and be tossed around, then sink

like the Nile of Egypt.

9 (Jer 15:9; Am 5:8) On that day, says the Lord God,

I will make the sun go down at noon,

and darken the earth in mid-daylight;

10 (Jer 6:26; Zec 12:10) I will turn your feasts into mourning,

and all your songs into dirges;

I will put sackcloth upon all loins,

and baldness on every head;

I will make it like the mourning for an only child,

and its end like a bitter day.

11 (1Sa 3:1; Ps 74:9) The time is coming, says the Lord God,

when I will send a famine on the land,

not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water,

but of hearing the words of the Lord.

12 They will wander from sea to sea,

and from north to east;

they will run back and forth to seek the word of the Lord,

but they will not find it.

13 (Hos 2:3; La 1:18) On that day

the beautiful maidens and the young men

will faint with thirst.

14 (Dt 9:21; 1Ki 12:28-29) Those who swear by Ashimah of Samaria, and say,

"By the life of your god, O Dan,"

and, "By the life of the way of Beersheba"-

they shall fall

and never rise again.

Amos 8

[1] Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me: and behold a basket of summer

fruit.

[2] And he said, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A basket of summer

fruit. Then said the LORD unto me, The end is come upon my people of Israel;

I will not again pass by them any more.

[3] And the songs of the temple shall be howlings in that day,

saith the Lord GOD: there shall be many dead bodies in every place;

they shall cast them forth with silence.

[4] Hear this, O ye that swallow up the needy,

even to make the poor of the land to fail,

[5] Saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell corn? and the

sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel

great, and falsifying the balances by deceit?

[6] That we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes;

yea, and sell the refuse of the wheat?

[7] The LORD hath sworn by the excellency of Jacob, Surely I will never

forget any of their works.

[8] Shall not the land tremble for this, and every one mourn that dwelleth

therein? and it shall rise up wholly as a flood; and it shall be cast out

and drowned, as by the flood of Egypt.

[9] And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord GOD, that I will

cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear

day:

[10] And I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into

lamentation; and I will bring up sackcloth upon all loins, and baldness

upon every head; and I will make it as the mourning of an only son,

and the end thereof as a bitter day.

[11] Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in

the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the

words of the LORD:

[12] And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the

east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not

find it.

[13] In that day shall the fair virgins and young men faint for thirst.

[14] They that swear by the sin of Samaria, and say, Thy god, O Dan, liveth;

and, The manner of Beer-sheba liveth; even they shall fall, and never rise up

again.

Amos 9

Destruction of the Sanctuary

1 (Ps 68:21; Am 3:14) I saw the Lord standing upon the altar, and He said:

Strike the capitals

so that the thresholds shake;

break them off onto the heads of all of them.

Those who remain I will slay with the sword.

Not one of them will get away;

not one fugitive will survive.

2 (Jer 51:53; Ob 1:4) Though they dig down to Sheol,

from there My hand will capture them;

though they climb up to the heavens,

from there I will bring them down;

3 (Jer 16:16; Job 34:22) though they hide on the top of Carmel,

from there I will search and catch them;

though they hide from My sight on the bottom of the sea,

from there will I command the serpent to bite them;

4 (Lev 26:33; Jer 44:11) and though they go into captivity

before their enemies, from there will I command the sword to slay them.

I will set My eyes upon them

for evil and not for good.

5 (Am 8:8; Ps 46:6) The Lord God of Hosts,

He who touches the earth and it melts,

and all who live on it mourn;

it all rises up like the Nile,

and subsides like the river of Egypt;

6 (Ps 104:3; Am 5:8) who builds His chambers in the heavens,

and founds His vault over the earth;

who summons the waters of the sea,

and pours them out upon the surface of the earth—

the Lord is His name.

7 (Jer 47:4; Am 1:5) Are you not like the Ethiopians to Me,

O children of Israel?

says the Lord.

Did I not bring Israel up from the land of Egypt,

but also the Philistines from Caphtor,

and the Arameans from Kir?

8 (Jer 30:11; 44:27) The eyes of the Lord God

are upon the sinful kingdom,

and I will destroy it

from off the face of the earth,

though I will not completely destroy

the house of Jacob,

says the Lord.

9 See, I am giving the command,

and I will sift the house of Israel

among all the nations,

as one sifts with a sieve,

and not a pebble falls to the ground.

10 (Am 6:3; Isa 33:14) All the sinners of My people

will die by the sword,

those who say,

"Never will disaster reach or overtake us."

Restoration of the Davidic Kingdom

11 (Ps 80:12; Isa 16:5) On that day will I raise up

the hut of David that is fallen;

I will close up its breached walls,

raise up its ruins,

and rebuild it as in the days of old;

12 (Isa 43:7; 11:14) that they may possess the remnant of Edom,

and of all the nations called by My name,

says the Lord who will do this.

13 (Lev 26:5; Joel 3:18) Indeed, the days are coming, says the Lord,

when the plowman will overtake the one who is reaping,

and the treader of grapes the one who is sowing the seed;

the mountains will drip sweet wine,

and all the hills will flow with it.

14 (Jer 30:18; Isa 61:4; Jer 30:3) I will restore the fortunes

of My people Israel;

they will rebuild the ruined cities and inhabit them;

they will plant vineyards and drink their wine;

they will make gardens and eat their fruit.

15 (Isa 60:21; Jer 24:6) I will plant them upon their land,

and no more will they be uprooted

out of their land which I have given them.

The Lord your God has spoken.

Amos 9

[1] I saw the LORD standing upon the altar: and he said, Smite the lintel of

the door, that the posts may shake: and cut them in the head, all of them;

and I will slay the last of them with the sword: he that fleeth of them shall

not flee away, and he that escapeth of them shall not be delivered.

[2] Though they dig into hell, thence shall mine hand take them; though

they climb up to heaven, thence will I bring them down:

[3] And though they hide themselves in the top of Carmel, I will search and

take them out thence; and though they be hid from my sight in the bottom of

the sea, thence will I command the serpent, and he shall bite them:

[4] And though they go into captivity before their enemies, thence will I

command the sword, and it shall slay them: and I will set mine eyes upon

them for evil, and not for good.

[5] And the Lord GOD of hosts is he that toucheth the land, and it shall melt,

and all that dwell therein shall mourn: and it shall rise up wholly like a

flood; and shall be drowned, as by the flood of Egypt.

[6] It is he that buildeth his stories in the heaven, and hath founded his

troop in the earth; he that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth

them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD is his name.

[7] Are ye not as children of the Ethiopians unto me, O children of Israel?

saith the LORD. Have not I brought up Israel out of the land of Egypt? and

the Philistines from Caphtor, and the Syrians from Kir?

[8] Behold, the eyes of the Lord GOD are upon the sinful kingdom, and I will

destroy it from off the face of the earth; saving that I will not utterly

destroy the house of Jacob, saith the LORD.

[9] For, lo, I will command, and I will sift the house of Israel among all

nations, like as corn is sifted in a sieve, yet shall not the least grain

fall upon the earth.

[10] All the sinners of my people shall die by the sword, which say, The

evil shall not overtake nor prevent us.

[11] In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen,

and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will

build it as in the days of old:

[12] That they may possess the remnant of Edom, and of all the heathen,

which are called by my name, saith the LORD that doeth this.

[13] Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that the plowman shall overtake

the reaper, and the treader of grapes him that soweth seed; and the mountains

shall drop sweet wine, and all the hills shall melt.

[14] And I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel, and they

shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards,

and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit

of them.

[15] And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be

pulled up out of their land which I have given them, saith the LORD thy God.

Who Deserves the Praise?

Hebrews 3:1-6

Jesus Superior to Moses

1 (Php 3:14; 2Ti 1:9) Therefore, holy brothers, partakers in a heavenly

calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Jesus Christ,

2 (Nu 12:7) who was faithful to Him who appointed Him,

as Moses was faithful in all His house.

3 For the One was counted worthy of more glory than Moses,

in that He who builds the house has more honor than the house itself.

4 For every house is built by someone, but the One who builds all things

is God.

5 (Nu 12:7; Ex 14:31; Heb 3:2) Moses was faithful in all God's house

as a servant, testifying about those things that were to be spoken later.

6 (1Co 3:16; Heb 1:2) But Christ is faithful over God's house as a Son,

whose house we are if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing

of our hope firm to the end.

[1] Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider

the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;

[2] Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful

in all his house.

[3] For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he

who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house.

[4] For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is

God.

[5] And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a

testimony of those things which were to be spoken after;

[6] But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold

fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.

From the spiral staircase to the expansive bedroom, from the hardwood floors

to the plush carpeting, from the huge laundry room to the well-organised

office, the realtor showed a potential home to the young couple. At every

corner they turned, they raved about its beauty: "You've picked the best

place for us. This house is amazing!" Then the realtor responded with

something they thought a bit unusual yet true: "I'll pass along your

compliment to the builder. The one who built the house deserves the praise;

not the house itself or the one who shows it off."

The realtor's words echo the writer of Hebrews: "The builder of a house has

greater honor than the house itself" (3:3). The writer was comparing the

faithfulness of Jesus, the Son of God, with the prophet Moses (vv. 1-6).

Though Moses was privileged to speak to God face-to-face and to see His

form (Numbers 12:8), he was still only "a servant" in the house of God

(Hebrews 3:5). Christ as the Creator (1:2, 10) deserves honor as the divine

"builder of everything" and as the Son "over God's house" (3:4, 6).

God's house is His people.

When we serve God faithfully, it's Jesus the divine builder who deserves

the honour. Any praise we, God's house, receive ultimately belongs to Him.

Reflect & Pray

What has God built into you? What are unique ways you can give honour

to Jesus if you're complimented?

Jesus, You deserve all my praise.

May my life and words give You that praise on this day.

Week 7 Promises of Grace - Day 3 - All I need

Phil 4:19

19 But my God shall supply your every need according

to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

19 But my God shall supply all your need according

to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

"But Mom, I really need these!" The strident voice of a teenage girl

rose above the hum of voices in the department store. The item in question

was a pair of $80 blue Jeans, faded, bleached, and torn in the right knee.

Style . Fashion. Self-Image. The girl may not have needed the jeans to

enhance her wardrobe, but she obviously felt she needed then to

enhance her acceptability among her peers.

Phillippains 4:19 promises that God "shall supply your every need according

to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." But just what needs does this

promise cover? My need for a bigger house? A better job?

An $80 pair of Calvin Kleins?

Certainly God knows and cares about the physical, superficial need of our

lives, and he provides what we need to sustain life. But God's priority

goes much deeper than the kind of radial tires we buy or the brand name on

our back pockets. God is interested in eternal values, in spiritual needs, and

he knows what we need in our lives to draw us closer to him.

"Out of his glorious riches in Christ Jesus," God will enrich us spiritually.

The application of Phil 4:19 involves trusting God to know and care about our

real needs, the deep needs of our souls, and allowing him the freedom to

order our circumstances so that those needs are met. When we are bold

enough to pray, "Lord, do whatever is necessary to make me more like

Jesus Christ," our Father delights to answer that prayer and supply our needs.

Application

a) What is the difference between my "Needs" and my "wants"?

b) What spiritual needs can I identify in my life?

c) How can this verse help me keep my own priorities

in line with God's value system?

4) From Prosperity Promises - Kenneth Copeland

Philip 4:19

19 (Ro 2:4) But my God shall supply your every need according

to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

19 But my God shall supply all your need according

to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

5) From a Book called God's Promises for you:

God's Reconciling Peace

Ps 85:8-13

8 (Job 35:10; Ps 63:6) I will hear what God the Lord will speak,

for He will speak peace to His people and to His saints,

but let them not turn again to folly.

9 (Ps 38:6; 18:2) Surely His salvation is near to them who fear Him,

that glory may dwell in our land.

10 (Ps 42:3; Joel 2:17) Mercy and truth have met together;

righteousness and peace have kissed.

11 (Ps 42:5; 43:5) Truth springs from the ground,

and righteousness looks down from the sky.

12 Yes, the Lord gives that which is good,

and our land shall yield its increase.

13 Righteousness shall go before Him

and prepare a way for His footsteps.

8 I will hear what God the LORD will speak:

For he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints:

But let them not turn again to folly.

9 Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him;

That glory may dwell in our land.

10 Mercy and truth are met together;

Righteousness and peace have kissed each other.

11 Truth shall spring out of the earth;

And righteousness shall look down from heaven.

12 Yea, the LORD shall give that which is good;

And our land shall yield her increase.

13 Righteousness shall go before him;

And shall set us in the way of his steps.

Remember God's promises when You pray

The Lord's prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

Matthew 6:9-13

9 "Therefore pray in this manner:

Our Father who is in heaven,

hallowed be Your name.

10 (Mt 3:2; 4:17) Your kingdom come;

Your will be done

on earth, as it is in heaven.

11 (Pr 30:8; Isa 33:16) Give us this day our daily bread.

12 (Ex 34:7; Ps 32:1) And forgive us our debts,

as we forgive our debtors.

13 (1Co 10:13; Jn 17:15) And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."

9 After this manner therefore pray ye:

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

11 Give us this day our daily bread.

12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

30 days of prayer for the Muslim World 24 April to 23 May 2020

Under the Keep Praying page

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month

and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days

of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that

usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,

of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be

decorated and festivals will be held.

For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the

distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of

Islam.

You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",

which means Blessed Eid!"

Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you

know, and Muslims around the world:

- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions

in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about

unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such

movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three

decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim

relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.

Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,

"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;

your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.

18 Even on My menservants and maidservants

I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.

19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below:

blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,

and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes.

21 And whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."[a]

Footnotes

Acts 2:21 Joel 2:28-32.

- Pray for Christian workers an organisations focused on seeing effective

discipleship movements among Muslim people.

- Ask the Holy Spirit to continue to inspire you to have god's heart for

Muslims, to see them as He does, and to be the light that then to Jesus.

Matthew 5:14-15 : 14 "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a

hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do men light a candle and put it under

a basket, but on a candlestick. And it gives light to all who are in the

house."

Ideas for prayer

- Pray for opportunities to show the love of Christ to Muslims around you

- Pray for, and offer generous hospitality to, those you know who are serving

Christ among Muslim people -

Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."

- When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims

throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days!

And

Thank you for praying through the

5 Days of Prayer for Sikhs.

"My name is Kam. I'm 29 years of age, and I grew up Sikh. As a teenager,

I struggled with depression, brokenness, and addiction to

cannabis. I didn't know how to stop or how to get help.

Then a friend invited me to church. As I spent time with Christians

and heard the message of the Gospel, I experienced the

love of Jesus Christ, and it was like nothing I'd known before.

One night I had a dream where I saw Him - a figure surrounded by

light who I knew was Jesus, the light of the world.

As I began to understand the gospel message, I encountered a reassuring and

confident solution to the problem of sin. I knew that I needed a solution

to my sin problem, and I gave my life to Christ.

Slowly, God began to heal my broken heart and my addiction.

Nine years have passed, and I am a devoted husband and a father

to two beautiful boys. I grow deeper in love with Jesus each day.

I ask you to continue praying with me, and others around the world, for Sikhs.

God is the only one who can draw people to Himself. He works in and through

the prayers of His people. I want Sikhs to know the freedom

and healing that is only available through Jesus Christ."

13 (Ro 14:17; 12:12) Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy

and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope,

through the power of the Holy Spirit.

[13] Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that

ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.
