LEVITICUS 26
Rewards for Obedience
1 (Lev 19:4; Ex 23:24; 20:4 - 5) You shall not make for yourselves idols;
neither set up a carved image nor a standing stone, nor shall you set up
any sculpted stone in your land to bow down to it, for I am the Lord your God.
2 (Lev 19:30) You shall keep My Sabbaths and reverence My sanctuary:
I am the Lord.
3 (Dt 28:1-14; 11:13-15) If you walk in My statutes and keep My commandments
and do them,
4 (Ps 67:6; 85:12) then I will give you rain in due season,
and the land shall yield its increase, and the trees of the field shall yield
their fruit.
5 (Am 9:13; Lev 25:18-19) Your threshing shall last till the grape harvest,
and the grape harvest shall last till the time for sowing, and you shall eat
your bread till you are full and dwell in your land safely.
6 (Isa 35:9; Jer 30:10) I will give peace in the land, and you shall lie down
for sleep, and none shall make you afraid; I will remove harmful beasts from
the land, and the sword shall not go through your land.
7 You shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword.
8 (Dt 32:30; Jos 23:10) Five of you shall chase a hundred,
and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight,
and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword.
9 (Ge 17:6-7; Ne 9:23) I will turn toward you and make you fruitful
and multiply you, and I will confirm My covenant with you.
10 (Lev 25:22) You shall eat the old harvest long stored,
and clear out the old to make way for the new.
11 (Ex 25:8; 29:45) I will set My tabernacle among you,
and I shall not abhor you.
12 (2Co 6:16; Ge 3:8) I will walk among you, and I will be your God,
and you shall be My people.
13 (Eze 34:27; Ex 20:2) I am the Lord your God, who brought you
out of the land of Egypt, that you should not be their slaves,
and I have broken the bars of your yoke and made you walk upright.
Punishment for Disobedience
14 (Dt 28:15-68; Mal 2:2) But if you will not listen to Me,
and will not do all these commandments,
15 (2Ki 17:15) if you despise My statutes, or if you abhor My judgments,
so that you will not do all My commandments, but you break My covenant,
16 (Job 31:8; 1Sa 2:33) then I will do this to you: I will visit you
with terror, with wasting disease, and with a fever that shall consume
the eyes and cause sorrow of heart, and you shall sow your seed in vain,
for your enemies shall eat it.
17 (Ps 53:5; Lev 17:10) I will set My face against you, and you shall be
slain before your enemies. They that hate you shall reign over you,
and you shall flee when none pursues you.
18 (Lev 26:21; 26:24) If you will not yet listen to Me after all this,
then I will punish you seven times more for your sins.
19 (Dt 28:23; Isa 25:11) I will break the pride of your power,
and I will make your heaven as iron and your land as bronze.
20 (Ps 127:1; Isa 49:4) Your strength shall be spent in vain,
for your land shall not yield her increase,
nor shall the trees of the land yield their fruits.
21 If you continue to walk contrary to Me and will not listen to Me,
I will bring seven times more plagues upon you according to your sins.
22 (Dt 32:24; Jdg 5:6) I will also send wild beasts among you,
which shall rob you of your children, destroy your livestock,
and make you few in number. And your roads shall be desolate.
23 (Jer 5:3; 2:30) And if by these things you are not turned to Me,
but walk contrary to Me,
24 (2Sa 22:27; Ps 18:26) then I will also walk contrary to you
and will punish you yet seven times for your sins.
25 (Nu 14:12; Eze 5:17) I will bring a sword upon you that shall
extract vengeance for My covenant. And when you are gathered together
within your cities, I will send pestilence among you, and you shall
be delivered into the hand of the enemy.

ten women shall bake your bread in one oven,
and they shall ration your bread again by weight,
and you shall eat and not be satisfied.

but walk contrary to Me,
28 (Isa 59:18; 63:3) then I will walk contrary to you also in fury,
and I Myself will chastise you seven times for your sins.
29 (La 4:10; Eze 5:10) You shall eat the flesh of your sons
and the flesh of your daughters.
30 (2Ki 23:20; Isa 27:9) I will destroy your high places,
and cut down your images, and cast your funeral offerings
on the lifeless forms of your idols, and I shall abhor you.
31 (Ne 2:3; 2Ki 25:4-10) I will make your cities a waste
and bring your sanctuaries to desolation, and I will not smell
the savor of your fragrant offerings.
32 (Jer 9:11; 18:16) I will bring the land into desolation,
and your enemies that dwell there shall be astonished at it.
33 (Dt 4:27; Eze 20:23) I will scatter you among the nations
and I will draw out a sword after you. And your land shall
be desolate and your cities a waste.
34 (2Ch 36:21) Then the land shall enjoy its sabbaths
as long as it lies desolate, while you are in your enemies' land;
then the land shall rest and enjoy its sabbaths.
35 As long as it lies desolate it shall rest
because it did not rest during your sabbaths when you lived upon it.
36 (Eze 21:7; Lev 26:17) And on those who are left alive of you
I will send faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies;
and the sound of a shaken leaf shall make them flee,
and they shall flee as from a sword, and they shall fall when no one pursues.
37 (Jos 7:12-13; Jdg 2:14) They shall fall one upon one another,
as to escape before the sword,
though no one pursues,
and you shall have no power to stand before your enemies.
38 You shall perish among the nations,
and the land of your enemies shall consume you.
39 (Eze 4:17; 33:10) And those who are left of you shall rot away
in their iniquity in your enemies' lands, and also because of the
iniquities of their fathers, they shall rot away with them.
40 (1Ki 8:33-36; Pr 28:13) But if they confess their iniquity,
and the iniquity of their fathers, with their treachery that
they committed against Me, and also that they have walked contrary to Me,
41 (Eze 44:7; Ac 7:51) and that I also have walked contrary to them
and have brought them into the land of their enemies;
if then their uncircumcised hearts are humbled,
and they then accept the punishment of their iniquity,
42 (Ex 2:24; 6:5) then will I remember My covenant with Jacob,
and also My covenant with Isaac, and also My covenant with Abraham,
and I will remember the land.
43 (Lev 26:15) But the land shall be abandoned by them, and enjoy
its sabbaths while it lies desolate without them. They shall make amends
for their iniquity, because they despised My
and because they abhorred My statutes.
44 (Ro 11:2; 2Ki 13:23) Yet for all that, when they are in the land of
their enemies, I will not cast them away, nor will I abhor them
to destroy them utterly and to break My covenant with them,
for I am the Lord their God.
45 (Lev 22:33; 25:38) But for their sake I will remember the covenant
with their fathers, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt in the sight
of the nations, that I might be their God: I am the Lord.
46 (Lev 27:34; 25:1) These are the statutes and judgments
and laws that the Lord made between Himself
and the children of Israel on Mount Sinai by the hand of Moses.
Leviticus 26
[1] Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither rear you up a
standing image, neither shall ye set up any image of stone in your land, to
bow down unto it: for I am the LORD your God.
[2] Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am the LORD.
[3] If ye walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments, and do them;
[4] Then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her
increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.
[5] And your threshing shall reach unto the vintage, and the vintage shall
reach unto the sowing time: and ye shall eat your bread to the full, and
dwell in your land safely.
[6] And I will give peace in the land, and ye shall lie down, and none shall
make you afraid: and I will rid evil beasts out of the land, neither shall
the sword go through your land.
[7] And ye shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the
sword.
[8] And five of you shall chase an hundred, and an hundred of you shall put
ten thousand to flight: and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword.
[9] For I will have respect unto you, and make you fruitful, and multiply
you, and establish my covenant with you.
[10] And ye shall eat old store, and bring forth the old because of the new.
[11] And I will set my tabernacle among you: and my soul shall not abhor
you.
[12] And I will walk among you, and will be your God, and ye shall be my
people.
[13] I am the LORD your God, which brought you forth out of the land of
Egypt, that ye should not be their bondmen; and I have broken the bands of
your yoke, and made you go upright.
[14] But if ye will not hearken unto me, and will not do all these
commandments;
[15] And if ye shall despise my statutes, or if your soul abhor my
judgments, so that ye will not do all my commandments, but that ye break my
covenant:
[16] I also will do this unto you; I will even appoint over you terror,
consumption, and the burning ague, that shall consume the eyes, and cause
sorrow of heart: and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall
eat it.
[17] And I will set my face against you, and ye shall be slain before your
enemies: they that hate you shall reign over you; and ye shall flee when
none pursueth you.
[18] And if ye will not yet for all this hearken unto me, then I will punish

highways shall be desolate.
[23] And if ye will not be reformed by me by these things, but will walk
contrary unto me;
[24] Then will I also walk contrary unto you, and will punish you yet seven
times for your sins.
[25] And I will bring a sword upon you, that shall avenge the quarrel of my
covenant: and when ye are gathered together within your cities, I will send
the pestilence among you; and ye shall be delivered into the hand of the
enemy.
[26] And when I have broken the staff of your bread, ten women shall bake
your bread in one oven, and they shall deliver you your bread again by
weight: and ye shall eat, and not be satisfied.
[27] And if ye will not for all this hearken unto me, but walk contrary unto
me;
[28] Then I will walk contrary unto you also in fury; and I, even I, will
chastise you seven times for your sins.
[29] And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your
daughters shall ye eat.

your carcases upon the carcases of your idols, and my soul shall abhor you.

[33] And I will scatter you among the heathen, and will draw out a sword
after you: and your land shall be desolate, and your cities waste.
[34] Then shall the land enjoy her sabbaths, as long as it lieth desolate,
and ye be in your enemies' land; even then shall the land rest, and enjoy
her sabbaths.
[35] As long as it lieth desolate it shall rest; because it did not rest in
your sabbaths, when ye dwelt upon it.
[36] And upon them that are left alive of you I will send a faintness into
their hearts in the lands of their enemies; and the sound of a shaken leaf
shall chase them; and they shall flee, as fleeing from a sword; and they
shall fall when none pursueth.
[37] And they shall fall one upon another, as it were before a sword, when
none pursueth: and ye shall have no power to stand before your enemies.
[38] And ye shall perish among the heathen, and the land of your enemies
shall eat you up.
[39] And they that are left of you shall pine away in their iniquity in your
enemies' lands; and also in the iniquities of their fathers shall they pine
away with them.
[40] If they shall confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their
fathers, with their trespass which they trespassed against me, and that also
they have walked contrary unto me;
[41] And that I also have walked contrary unto them, and have brought them
into the land of their enemies; if then their uncircumcised hearts be

[42] Then will I remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with

punishment of their iniquity: because, even because they despised my
judgments, and because their soul abhorred my statutes.
[44] And yet for all that, when they be in the land of their enemies, I will
not cast them away, neither will I abhor them, to destroy them utterly, and
to break my covenant with them: for I am the LORD their God.
[45] But I will for their sakes remember the covenant of their ancestors,
whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the heathen,
that I might be their God: I am the LORD.
[46] These are the statutes and judgments and laws, which the LORD made
between him and the children of Israel in mount Sinai by the hand of Moses.
LEVITICUS 27
Laws About Vows
1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
2 (Nu 6:2; Dt 23:21-23) Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them:
When a man makes a special vow to the Lord based on the equivalent value
(Shorthand for the formula in Lev 5:15.) of persons,
3 (Ex 30:13; Lev 27:25) then the equivalent value of a male
from twenty to sixty years old shall be fifty shekels
(About 11/4 pounds, or 575 grams; and in v. 16.) of silver,
according to the sanctuary shekel. (About 2/5 ounce, or 12 grams;
and in v. 25.)
4 If the person is a female, then the equivalent value shall be
thirty shekels. (About 12 ounces, or 345 grams.)
5 If the person is five to twenty years old, then the equivalent value
shall be twenty shekels (About 8 ounces, or 230 grams.) for a male
and ten shekels (About 4 ounces, or 115 grams; and in v. 7.) for a female.
6 If the person is one month to five years old,
then the equivalent value shall be five shekels
(About 2 ounces, or 58 grams.)
for a male and three shekels (About 1 1/4 ounces, or 35 grams.)
of silver for a female.
7 If the person is sixty years old or older, then the equivalent
value shall be fifteen shekels (About 6 ounces, or 175 grams.)
for a male and ten shekels for a female.
8 (Lev 14:21-22) But if he is too poor to afford the equivalent value,
then he shall present himself before the priest and the priest shall
set his value. According to what the person making the vow can afford,
so the priest shall set his value.
9 And if it be an animal, of which men bring an offering to the Lord,
all that any man gives of such to the Lord shall be holy.
10 He shall not exchange it nor substitute it, good for bad or bad for good.
If he in fact substitutes an animal for another, then both it
and its substitute shall be holy.
11 If it is any sort of unclean animal that is not permitted as an offering
to the Lord, then he shall present the animal before the priest.
12 And the priest shall set its value, whether good or bad;
according to the equivalent value set by the priest, so shall it be.
13 (Lev 27:15; 27:19) But if he plans on redeeming it,
then he shall add one-fifth to the equivalent value.
14 When a man consecrates his house as holy to the Lord, then the priest
shall set its value, whether good or bad, according to the equivalent value
set by the priest, so shall it be established.
15 (Lev 27:13) If he who consecrates the house should redeem it,
then he shall add one-fifth to its equivalent value, and it shall be his.
16 If a man shall consecrate to the Lord some of his land,
then the equivalent value shall be according to the seed
needed to sow it: fifty shekels of silver per homer
(Likely about 300 pounds, or 135 kilograms. of barley seed.
17 If he consecrates his field from the Year of Jubilee,
the equivalent value shall stay fixed,
18 (Lev 25:15-16) but if he consecrates his field after the Jubilee,
then the priest shall calculate for him the price according to the years
that remain until the next Year of Jubilee, and the equivalent value
shall be reduced.
19 And if he who consecrated the field plans on redeeming it,
then he shall add one-fifth to the equivalent value,
and it will be established as his.
20 If he does not redeem the field,
but rather sells the field to another man,
it may not be redeemed again.
21 (Eze 44:29; Nu 18:14; Lev 25:10) But when the field is released
in the Jubilee, it shall be holy to the Lord as a devoted field;
it shall become the possession of the priest.
22 (Lev 25:10; 25:25) If a man consecrates to the Lord a field
that he purchased, which is not part of his land property,
23 (Lev 27:18) then the priest shall calculate for him
the amount of the valuation, up to the Year of Jubilee,
and he shall give your valuation on that day as a holy thing to the Lord.
24 (Lev 25:28) In the Year of Jubilee the field shall return
to the one from whom it was bought,
to him to whom the property of land belongs.
25 (Ex 30:13; Nu 3:47) All your estimations shall be according to the shekel
of the sanctuary: Twenty gerahs (About 1/50 ounce or 0.6 gram.)
shall be one shekel.
26 (Ex 13:2; 13:12-13) A firstborn of animals, which as firstborn belongs
to the Lord, no man may consecrate; whether ox or sheep, it is the Lord's.
27 If it is among the unclean animals, then he shall ransom it
at the equivalent value and shall add one-fifth to it,
but if it is not redeemed, then it shall be sold at the equivalent value.
28 (Jos 6:17-19; Ex 22:20) Anything that a man shall devote to the Lord
from all that he has, whether human, animal, or land, shall not be sold
or redeemed. Every devoted thing is most holy to the Lord.
29 No one devoted of men, who shall be doomed to death,
shall be redeemed; he shall surely be put to death.
30 (Ge 28:22; 14:20) Any tithe of the land, whether seed of the land
or fruit of the trees, belongs to the Lord. It is holy to the Lord.
31 If a man plans on redeeming some of his tithe,
he shall add one-fifth to it.
32 (Jer 33:13; Eze 20:37) Any tithe of herd or flock, all that passes
under the counting staff, the tenth one shall be holy to the Lord.
33 (Lev 27:10) A person shall not differentiate between good or bad,
nor shall he make a substitute for it, but if he does,
then both it and its substitute shall be holy. It shall not be redeemed.
34 (Lev 26:46) These are the commandments that the Lord commanded
Moses for the children of Israel on Mount Sinai.
Leviticus 27
[1] And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
[2] Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When a man shall
make a singular vow, the persons shall be for the LORD by thy estimation.
[3] And thy estimation shall be of the male from twenty years old even unto
sixty years old, even thy estimation shall be fifty shekels of silver, after
the shekel of the sanctuary.
[4] And if it be a female, then thy estimation shall be thirty shekels.
[5] And if it be from five years old even unto twenty years old, then thy
estimation shall be of the male twenty shekels, and for the female ten
shekels.
[6] And if it be from a month old even unto five years old, then thy
estimation shall be of the male five shekels of silver, and for the female
thy estimation shall be three shekels of silver.
[7] And if it be from sixty years old and above; if it be a male, then thy
estimation shall be fifteen shekels, and for the female ten shekels.
[8] But if he be poorer than thy estimation, then he shall present himself
before the priest, and the priest shall value him; according to his ability
that vowed shall the priest value him.
[9] And if it be a beast, whereof men bring an offering unto the LORD, all
that any man giveth of such unto the LORD shall be holy.
[10] He shall not alter it, nor change it, a good for a bad, or a bad for a
good: and if he shall at all change beast for beast, then it and the
exchange thereof shall be holy.
[11] And if it be any unclean beast, of which they do not offer a sacrifice
unto the LORD, then he shall present the beast before the priest:
[12] And the priest shall value it, whether it be good or bad: as thou
valuest it, who art the priest, so shall it be.
[13] But if he will at all redeem it, then he shall add a fifth part thereof
unto thy estimation.
[14] And when a man shall sanctify his house to be holy unto the LORD, then
the priest shall estimate it, whether it be good or bad: as the priest shall
estimate it, so shall it stand.
[15] And if he that sanctified it will redeem his house, then he shall add
the fifth part of the money of thy estimation unto it, and it shall be his.
[16] And if a man shall sanctify unto the LORD some part of a field of his
possession, then thy estimation shall be according to the seed thereof: an
homer of barley seed shall be valued at fifty shekels of silver.
[17] If he sanctify his field from the year of jubile, according to thy
estimation it shall stand.
[18] But if he sanctify his field after the jubile, then the priest shall
reckon unto him the money according to the years that remain, even unto the
year of the jubile, and it shall be abated from thy estimation.
[19] And if he that sanctified the field will in any wise redeem it, then he
shall add the fifth part of the money of thy estimation unto it, and it
shall be assured to him.
[20] And if he will not redeem the field, or if he have sold the field to
another man, it shall not be redeemed any more.
[21] But the field, when it goeth out in the jubile, shall be holy unto the
LORD, as a field devoted; the possession thereof shall be the priest's.
[22] And if a man sanctify unto the LORD a field which he hath bought, which
is not of the fields of his possession;
[23] Then the priest shall reckon unto him the worth of thy estimation, even
unto the year of the jubile: and he shall give thine estimation in that day,
as a holy thing unto the LORD.
[24] In the year of the jubile the field shall return unto him of whom it
was bought, even to him to whom the possession of the land did belong.
[25] And all thy estimations shall be according to the shekel of the
sanctuary: twenty gerahs shall be the shekel.
[26] Only the firstling of the beasts, which should be the LORD's firstling,
no man shall sanctify it; whether it be ox, or sheep: it is the LORD's.
[27] And if it be of an unclean beast, then he shall redeem it according to
thine estimation, and shall add a fifth part of it thereto: or if it be not
redeemed, then it shall be sold according to thy estimation.
[28] Notwithstanding no devoted thing, that a man shall devote unto the LORD
of all that he hath, both of man and beast, and of the field of his
possession, shall be sold or redeemed: every devoted thing is most holy unto
the LORD.
[29] None devoted, which shall be devoted of men, shall be redeemed; but
shall surely be put to death.
[30] And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of
the fruit of the tree, is the LORD's: it is holy unto the LORD.
[31] And if a man will at all redeem ought of his tithes, he shall add
thereto the fifth part thereof.
[32] And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of
whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the LORD.
[33] He shall not search whether it be good or bad, neither shall he change
it: and if he change it at all, then both it and the change thereof shall be
holy; it shall not be redeemed.
[34] These are the commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses for the
children of Israel in mount Sinai.

Experiential - experiencing what is true
Experiential knowledge wins out over cognitive knowledge

The sensing of the presence of God.
Tenderness/mercy is something created by the Holy
Spirit at the core of who we are.
Compassion toward others is what spills over from the reality of tenderness.
How do you experience the Spirit of the Lord?
Our experience with God inspires us to:

Christian Humility and Christ's Humility

I’m often amused by the unofficial holidays people come up with. February
alone has a Sticky Bun Day, a Sword Swallowers Day, even a Dog Biscuit
Appreciation Day! Today has been labeled Be Humble Day. Universally recognised
as a virtue, humility is certainly worth celebrating. But interestingly, this
hasn't always been the case.
Humility was considered a weakness, not a virtue, in the ancient world, which
prized honour instead. Boasting about one's achievements was expected,
and you sought to raise your status, never lower it. Humility meant
inferiority, like a servant to a master. But all this changed, historians
say, at Jesus' crucifixion. There, the One who was "in very nature God" gave
up His divine status to become "a servant" and "humbled himself" to die for
others (Philippians 2:6-8). Such a praiseworthy act forced humility to be
redefined. By the end of the first century, even secular writers were
calling humility a virtue because of what Christ had done.
Every time someone is praised for being humble today, the gospel is being
subtly preached. For without Jesus, humility wouldn't be "good," or a Be
Humble Day even thinkable. Christ relinquished His status for us,
revealing through all history the humble nature of God.

Romans 8:15
'For you have not received the spirit of slavery again to fear. But you have
received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, "Abba, Father." '

received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
"I've always been a Daddy's girl," Sandi said proudly, and her relationship
with her father proved it. She was never spoiled, but even as a grown woman,
Sandi maintained a closeness with her father, sharing intimately with him the
important issues of her life. And just her use of the name "Daddy" indicated
that he was, indeed a warm, approachable, affectionate man.
Many people are not so fortunate. Some fathers are stern and harsh;
others absent or uncaring, some even abusive. Few have the king of father
who presents a picture of the loving fatherhood of God.
But whatever our concept of fatherhood, God makes clear that he is everything
we always wanted our fathers to be - loving, forgiving, approachable,
totally accepting of us as we are, encouraging us to become all he has
created us to be.
In Romans 8, Paul calls God our "Abba Father". The Aramaic word for Father,
Abba, is an intimate term that might well be translated, Daddy.
God is our "Daddy," our "Abba" - not a distant, stern patriarch ready
to strike us down at the first sign of transgression, but a gentle,
loving Father who longs for us to climb into his lap and let him comfort us.
When we commit ourselves to Christ, Paul indicates, we do not receive a
"spirit of bondage to fear" but a "spirit of adoption." We are not called
to respond to God out of fear, but out of love and reverence.
We can relax and enjoy his presence, for we are his children,
and he is our loving Daddy.

Alberta may have a total as high as 195240 today.
Calgary is notable as the first Canadian city with a Muslim mayor. It's
become a prominent place of Islamic fundamentalism.
Edmonton's Muslim population is very diverse, with the largest group
coming from Tanzania, followed by Somalia, and then North African countries
such as Egypt, Morocco, etc.
Muslims are coming to faith in Jesus! They overcome huge spiritual,
emotional and cultural hurdles to follow Christ. Yet their challenges still
continue, especially in growing in discipleship. They often fell lost in our
Western congregations, and equally lost trying to find a church body with whom
they can identify. some are even being lured into Christian cult groups.

- for Canadian churches to start contextualised discipleship ministries to

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.
For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.
You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"
Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you
know, and Muslims around the world:
- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.
Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,
"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
18 Even on My menservants and maidservants

DAY 17: Thanksgiving Not the Day, But a Lifestyle
Verse of the day:

Every October, most of us celebrate Thanksgiving Day. This particular day
can remind us of the value of being thankfulfor what we have in our lives
But what would our lives look like if we lived daily with gratitude and
appreciation?
We are encouraged to be thankfulin the Bible. Psalm 118:1 says,
"Oh, give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good,
because His mercy endures forever."

Because his mercy endureth for ever.
I Thessalonians 5:16-18 says,

Thankfulness can help us to see outside of our present circumstances.
When we give thanks regularly, God changes our hearts, The more you
thank God the more you willbegin to see allthe reasons to thank Him.
As you move from thanking God just for the good things to thanking him
in al circumstances, you will feel more and more satisfied and happy with
life. Soon you willtrust Him more than ever as you see His hand in
everything.
Reflection: How can I learn to be thankful in all circumstances?
Prayer: Lord God, let me never forget all You do and how You bless me in
countless ways that maintain Your continuous presence in my life. Lord,
teach me to offer You a heart of thanksgiving and praise in all my daily life

Laws About Vows
1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:

When a man makes a special vow to the Lord based on the equivalent value
(Shorthand for the formula in Lev 5:15.) of persons,
3 (Ex 30:13; Lev 27:25) then the equivalent value of a male
from twenty to sixty years old shall be fifty shekels
(About 11/4 pounds, or 575 grams; and in v. 16.) of silver,
according to the sanctuary shekel. (About 2/5 ounce, or 12 grams;
and in v. 25.)
4 If the person is a female, then the equivalent value shall be
thirty shekels. (About 12 ounces, or 345 grams.)
5 If the person is five to twenty years old, then the equivalent value
shall be twenty shekels (About 8 ounces, or 230 grams.) for a male
and ten shekels (About 4 ounces, or 115 grams; and in v. 7.) for a female.
6 If the person is one month to five years old,
then the equivalent value shall be five shekels
(About 2 ounces, or 58 grams.)
for a male and three shekels (About 1 1/4 ounces, or 35 grams.)
of silver for a female.
7 If the person is sixty years old or older, then the equivalent
value shall be fifteen shekels (About 6 ounces, or 175 grams.)

8 (Lev 14:21-22) But if he is too poor to afford the equivalent value,
then he shall present himself before the priest and the priest shall
set his value. According to what the person making the vow can afford,
so the priest shall set his value.
9 And if it be an animal, of which men bring an offering to the Lord,
all that any man gives of such to the Lord shall be holy.
10 He shall not exchange it nor substitute it, good for bad or bad for good.
If he in fact substitutes an animal for another, then both it
and its substitute shall be holy.
11 If it is any sort of unclean animal that is not permitted as an offering
to the Lord, then he shall present the animal before the priest.
12 And the priest shall set its value, whether good or bad;
according to the equivalent value set by the priest, so shall it be.
13 (Lev 27:15; 27:19) But if he plans on redeeming it,
then he shall add one-fifth to the equivalent value.
14 When a man consecrates his house as holy to the Lord, then the priest
shall set its value, whether good or bad, according to the equivalent value
set by the priest, so shall it be established.
15 (Lev 27:13) If he who consecrates the house should redeem it,
then he shall add one-fifth to its equivalent value, and it shall be his.
16 If a man shall consecrate to the Lord some of his land,
then the equivalent value shall be according to the seed
needed to sow it: fifty shekels of silver per homer
(Likely about 300 pounds, or 135 kilograms. of barley seed.
17 If he consecrates his field from the Year of Jubilee,
the equivalent value shall stay fixed,
18 (Lev 25:15-16) but if he consecrates his field after the Jubilee,
then the priest shall calculate for him the price according to the years
that remain until the next Year of Jubilee, and the equivalent value
shall be reduced.
19 And if he who consecrated the field plans on redeeming it,
then he shall add one-fifth to the equivalent value,
and it will be established as his.
20 If he does not redeem the field,
but rather sells the field to another man,
it may not be redeemed again.

in the Jubilee, it shall be holy to the Lord as a devoted field;
it shall become the possession of the priest.

I’m often amused by the unofficial holidays people come up with. February
alone has a Sticky Bun Day, a Sword Swallowers Day, even a Dog Biscuit
Appreciation Day! Today has been labeled Be Humble Day. Universally recognised
as a virtue, humility is certainly worth celebrating. But interestingly, this
hasn't always been the case.
Humility was considered a weakness, not a virtue, in the ancient world, which
prized honour instead. Boasting about one's achievements was expected,
and you sought to raise your status, never lower it. Humility meant
inferiority, like a servant to a master. But all this changed, historians
say, at Jesus' crucifixion. There, the One who was "in very nature God" gave
up His divine status to become "a servant" and "humbled himself" to die for
others (Philippians 2:6-8). Such a praiseworthy act forced humility to be
redefined. By the end of the first century, even secular writers were
calling humility a virtue because of what Christ had done.
Every time someone is praised for being humble today, the gospel is being
subtly preached. For without Jesus, humility wouldn't be "good," or a Be
Humble Day even thinkable. Christ relinquished His status for us,
revealing through all history the humble nature of God.

Romans 8:15
'For you have not received the spirit of slavery again to fear. But you have
received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, "Abba, Father." '
15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have
received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
"I've always been a Daddy's girl," Sandi said proudly, and her relationship
with her father proved it. She was never spoiled, but even as a grown woman,
Sandi maintained a closeness with her father, sharing intimately with him the
important issues of her life. And just her use of the name "Daddy" indicated
that he was, indeed a warm, approachable, affectionate man.
Many people are not so fortunate. Some fathers are stern and harsh;
others absent or uncaring, some even abusive. Few have the king of father
who presents a picture of the loving fatherhood of God.
But whatever our concept of fatherhood, God makes clear that he is everything
we always wanted our fathers to be - loving, forgiving, approachable,
totally accepting of us as we are, encouraging us to become all he has
created us to be.
In Romans 8, Paul calls God our "Abba Father". The Aramaic word for Father,
Abba, is an intimate term that might well be translated, Daddy.
God is our "Daddy," our "Abba" - not a distant, stern patriarch ready
to strike us down at the first sign of transgression, but a gentle,
loving Father who longs for us to climb into his lap and let him comfort us.
When we commit ourselves to Christ, Paul indicates, we do not receive a
"spirit of bondage to fear" but a "spirit of adoption." We are not called
to respond to God out of fear, but out of love and reverence.
We can relax and enjoy his presence, for we are his children,
and he is our loving Daddy.

Alberta may have a total as high as 195240 today.
Calgary is notable as the first Canadian city with a Muslim mayor. It's
become a prominent place of Islamic fundamentalism.
Edmonton's Muslim population is very diverse, with the largest group
coming from Tanzania, followed by Somalia, and then North African countries
such as Egypt, Morocco, etc.
Muslims are coming to faith in Jesus! They overcome huge spiritual,
emotional and cultural hurdles to follow Christ. Yet their challenges still
continue, especially in growing in discipleship. They often fell lost in our
Western congregations, and equally lost trying to find a church body with whom
they can identify. some are even being lured into Christian cult groups.
Please join us in praying for:
- The church to reach out to the growing Muslim populations in Alberta.
- for Canadian churches to start contextualised discipleship ministries to
Muslim-background believers.
- for Muslm-background believers to be well grounded spiritually and socially
in their faith and the Church.
- and for Muslim-background believers to share their faith with their
not-yet-believing family and friendship networks.
- for Farsi and Arabic fellowships to grow in spiritual maturity and outreach.
- for current and new workers among Muslims in these growing Muslim
in these growing Muslim population centres.

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.
For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.
You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"
Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you
know, and Muslims around the world:
- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.
Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,
"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
18 Even on My menservants and maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.
19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below:
blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,
and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes.

- Pray for Christian workers an organisations focused on seeing effective
discipleship movements among Muslim people.
- Ask the Holy Spirit to continue to inspire you to have god's heart for

Ideas for prayer
- Pray for opportunities to show the love of Christ to Muslims around you
- Pray for, and offer generous hospitality to, those you know who are serving
Christ among Muslim people -
Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."
- When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims
throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days!
My paternal side is of Muslim heritage and will offer this section to further
call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity
(Hindus, Jews, aboriginals Canadian, ...) .

a) Pray for the Province of Quebec
I) Pray for the leaders of Quebec,
that God's Spirit would influence
then to act justly,

DAY 17: Thanksgiving Not the Day, But a Lifestyle
Verse of the day:
"6 (Eph 6:18; Mt 6:25-33) Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer
and supplication with gratitude, make your requests known to God.
7 (Jn 14:27; Col 3:15; Isa 26:3) And the peace of God, which surpasses all
understanding, will protect your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
[6] Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication
with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
[7] And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your
hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. " Philippians 4:6-7
Every October, most of us celebrate Thanksgiving Day. This particular day
can remind us of the value of being thankfulfor what we have in our lives
But what would our lives look like if we lived daily with gratitude and
appreciation?
We are encouraged to be thankfulin the Bible. Psalm 118:1 says,
"Oh, give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good,
because His mercy endures forever."
[1] O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good:
Because his mercy endureth for ever.
I Thessalonians 5:16-18 says,
"16 (Php 4:4) Rejoice always.
17 (Eph 6:18; Lk 18:1) Pray without ceasing.
18 (Eph 5:20; Heb 13:15) In everything give thanks,
for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
[16] Rejoice evermore.

Thankfulness can help us to see outside of our present circumstances.
When we give thanks regularly, God changes our hearts, The more you
thank God the more you willbegin to see allthe reasons to thank Him.
As you move from thanking God just for the good things to thanking him
in al circumstances, you will feel more and more satisfied and happy with
life. Soon you willtrust Him more than ever as you see His hand in
everything.
Reflection: How can I learn to be thankful in all circumstances?
Prayer: Lord God, let me never forget all You do and how You bless me in
countless ways that maintain Your continuous presence in my life. Lord,
teach me to offer You a heart of thanksgiving and praise in all my daily life
experiences. Teach me always to be joyful, pray and give thanks in all my
circumstances. Lead me to live my life in testimony ta Your incredible
blessings and that Yourlove may be known and experienced by all O
interact with. In Jesus mighty name I pray, amen.

Pray to the Lord and pray to know about the rewards of obedience
and disobedience and understand vows.

Pray to the Lord and pray to remember we have the right of Sons and daughters.
Pray to the Lord and pray not to be an offence in the eyes of the Lord.
Pray to the Lord and pray to bring people to the Lord.

experiences. Teach me always to be joyful, pray and give thanks in all my
