LEVITICUS 14
The Law for Cleansing Lepers
1 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
2 (Lk 17:14; Nu 6:9) This shall be the law of the leper in the day
of his cleansing: It shall be reported to the priest,
3 (Lev 13:46) and the priest shall go out of the camp, and the priest
shall examine him and see if the disease is healed in the leprous person.
4 (Nu 19:6; Lev 14:6) Then the priest shall command that two live clean birds
and cedar wood and scarlet fabric and hyssop be brought for him
who is to be cleansed.
5 The priest shall command that one of the birds be slaughtered
in a clay vessel over running water.
6 As for the living bird, he shall take it, the cedar wood,
the scarlet, and the hyssop, and shall dip them and the living bird
in the blood of the bird that was killed over the running water.
7 (2Ki 5:10; 5:14) Then he shall sprinkle it seven times on him
who is to be cleansed from leprosy, and he shall pronounce him
clean and shall let the living bird loose into the open field.
8 (Lev 11:25; Nu 8:7) He that is to be cleansed shall wash his clothes,
and shave off all his hair, and wash himself in water,
so that he may be clean. After that he shall come into the camp
and shall stay outside of his tent seven days.
9 (Nu 6:9) But it shall be on the seventh day that he shall shave
all his hair off his head and his beard and his eyebrows,
all his hair he shall shave off, and he shall wash his clothes.
Also he shall wash his body in water, and he shall be clean.
10 (Lev 2:1; 14:12) On the eighth day he shall take two male lambs
without blemish, and one ewe lamb a year old without blemish,
and three-tenths of an ephah (Or stranger.) of wheat flour mixed
with oil for a grain offering, and one log of oil.
(About 1/3 quart, or 0.3 liter; and in vv. 12, 15, 21, and 24.)
11 The priest who makes him clean shall present the man
who is to be made clean and those things before the Lord
at the entrance of the tent of meeting.
12 (Ex 29:24; Lev 6:6-7) Then the priest shall take one male lamb
and offer it for a guilt offering, along with the log of oil,
and wave them for a wave offering before the Lord.
13 (Ex 29:11; Lev 1:11) Then he shall slaughter the lamb in the place
where they kill the sin offering and the burnt offering in the holy
sanctuary. For as the sin offering is the priest's, so is the guilt offering.
It is most holy.
14 (Ex 29:20; Lev 8:23-24) And the priest shall take some of the blood
of the guilt offering, and the priest shall put it on the tip of the right
ear of him who is to be cleansed, and on the thumb of his right hand,
and on the big toe of his right foot.
15 And the priest shall take some of the log of oil and pour it into the palm
of his own left hand.
16 Then the priest shall dip his right finger in the oil that is
in his left hand, and shall sprinkle from the oil with his finger
seven times before the Lord.
17 And some of the rest of the oil that is in his hand the priest
shall put on the tip of the right ear of him who is to be cleansed,
and on the thumb of his right hand, and on the big toe of his right foot,
and on the blood of the guilt offering.
18 (Lev 4:26) And the rest of the oil that is in the priest's hand
he shall pour upon the head of him who is to be cleansed,
and the priest shall make atonement for him before the Lord.
19 (Lev 14:12) The priest shall offer the sin offering,
and make atonement for him who is to be cleansed
from his ceremonial uncleanness,
and afterward he shall kill the burnt offering.
20 (Lev 14:10) Then the priest shall offer the burnt offering
and the grain offering on the altar, and the priest shall
make atonement for him, and he shall be clean.
21 (Lev 12:8; 5:7) But if he is poor and cannot afford so much,
then he shall take one male lamb for a guilt offering to be waved
to make atonement for him, and one-tenth of an ephah
(Likely about 3 1/2 pounds, or 1.6 kilograms.)
of wheat flour mixed with oil for a grain offering, and a log of oil,
22 and two turtledoves or two pigeons, such as he is able to afford.
The one shall be a sin offering and the other a burnt offering.
23 (Lev 14:10-11) He shall bring them on the eighth day
for his cleansing to the priest at the entrance
of the tent of meeting before the Lord.
24 The priest shall take the lamb of the guilt offering,
along with the log of oil, and the priest shall wave them
for a wave offering before the Lord.
25 Then he shall kill the lamb of the guilt offering;
and the priest shall take some of the blood of the guilt offering
and put it on the tip of the right ear of him who is to be cleansed
and on the thumb of his right hand and on the big toe of his right foot.
26 Next the priest shall pour some of the oil into the palm
of his own left hand,
27 and the priest shall sprinkle with his right finger
some of the oil that is in his left hand seven times before the Lord.
28 Then the priest shall put some of the oil that is in his hand
on the tip of the right ear of him who is to be cleansed,
and on the thumb of his right hand,
and on the big toe of his right foot on the place of the blood
of the guilt offering.
29 (Lev 14:18) The rest of the oil that is in the priest's hand
he shall pour on the head of him who is to be cleansed to make
atonement for him before the Lord.
30 (Lev 14:22) He shall offer one of the turtledoves or the pigeons,
such as he can afford,
31 even such as he is able to get, one for a sin offering
and the other for a burnt offering, along with the grain offering,
and the priest shall make atonement for him who is to be cleansed
before the Lord.
32 (Lev 14:10; 14:21)This is the law for a person who has a leprous
sore who cannot afford the offerings for his cleansing.

seven times, and shall pronounce him clean, and shall let the living bird

[8] And he that is to be cleansed shall wash his clothes, and shave off all
his hair, and wash himself in water, that he may be clean: and after that he
shall come into the camp, and shall tarry abroad out of his tent seven days.
[9] But it shall be on the seventh day, that he shall shave all his hair off
his head and his beard and his eyebrows, even all his hair he shall shave
off: and he shall wash his clothes, also he shall wash his flesh in water,
and he shall be clean.
[10] And on the eighth day he shall take two he lambs without blemish, and
one ewe lamb of the first year without blemish, and three tenth deals of
fine flour for a meat offering, mingled with oil, and one log of oil.
[11] And the priest that maketh him clean shall present the man that is to
be made clean, and those things, before the LORD, at the door of the
tabernacle of the congregation:
[12] And the priest shall take one he lamb, and offer him for a trespass
offering, and the log of oil, and wave them for a wave offering before the
LORD:
[13] And he shall slay the lamb in the place where he shall kill the sin
offering and the burnt offering, in the holy place: for as the sin offering
is the priest's, so is the trespass offering: it is most holy:
[14] And the priest shall take some of the blood of the trespass offering,
and the priest shall put it upon the tip of the right ear of him that is to
be cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of
his right foot:
[15] And the priest shall take some of the log of oil, and pour it into the
palm of his own left hand:
[16] And the priest shall dip his right finger in the oil that is in his
left hand, and shall sprinkle of the oil with his finger seven times before
the LORD:
[17] And of the rest of the oil that is in his hand shall the priest put
upon the tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleansed, and upon the
thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot, upon the
blood of the trespass offering:
[18] And the remnant of the oil that is in the priest's hand he shall pour
upon the head of him that is to be cleansed: and the priest shall make an
atonement for him before the LORD.
[19] And the priest shall offer the sin offering, and make an atonement for
him that is to be cleansed from his uncleanness; and afterward he shall kill
the burnt offering:
[20] And the priest shall offer the burnt offering and the meat offering
upon the altar: and the priest shall make an atonement for him, and he shall
be clean.

[27] And the priest shall sprinkle with his right finger some of the oil
that is in his left hand seven times before the LORD:
[28] And the priest shall put of the oil that is in his hand upon the tip of
the right ear of him that is to be cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right
hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot, upon the place of the blood
of the trespass offering:
[29] And the rest of the oil that is in the priest's hand he shall put upon
the head of him that is to be cleansed, to make an atonement for him before
the LORD.
[30] And he shall offer the one of the turtledoves, or of the young pigeons,
such as he can get;
[31] Even such as he is able to get, the one for a sin offering, and the
other for a burnt offering, with the meat offering: and the priest shall
make an atonement for him that is to be cleansed before the LORD.
[32] This is the law of him in whom is the plague of leprosy, whose hand is
not able to get that which pertaineth to his cleansing.
The Law About Leprous Houses
33 The Lord spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying:
34 (Ge 17:8; Dt 32:49) When you have come into the land of Canaan,
which I am giving to you for a possession, and I put a leprous disease
in a house of the land of your possession,
35 (Ps 91:10; Zec 5:4) then he who owns the house shall come
and tell the priest, "It seems to me there is some disease in the house."
36 Then the priest shall command that they empty the house
before the priest goes into it to examine the disease,
so that all that is in the house is not made unclean.
Afterwards, the priest shall go in to examine the house.
37 He shall examine the disease and see if the disease is in the walls
of the house with greenish or reddish spots, which appear to go deeper
than the wall.
38 Then the priest shall go out to the door of the house and close off
the house seven days.
39 The priest shall return on the seventh day
and shall examine and see if the disease has spread in the walls of the house.
40 Then the priest shall command that they take away the stones in which
the disease appears and throw them into an unclean place outside the city.
41 And he shall cause the house to be scraped all around, and they shall
pour out the plaster that they scrape off
outside the city into an unclean place.
42 And they shall take other stones and put them in the place of those stones,
and he shall take other plaster and shall plaster the house.
43 If the disease comes again and breaks out in the house after he has taken
away the stones and after he has scraped the house and after it is plastered,
44 (Lev 13:51-52) then the priest shall come and examine and see if the
disease has spread in the house. If the disease has spread in the house,
it is a persistent leprosy in the house; it is unclean.
45He shall break down the house, the stones and the timber,
and all the plaster of the house, and he shall carry them
out of the city into an unclean place.
46 (Nu 19:21-22) Moreover, he who goes into the house
while it is closed off shall be unclean until the evening.
47 And he who sleeps in the house shall wash his clothes,
and he who eats in the house shall wash his clothes.
48 If the priest comes in and examines it and sees the disease
has not spread in the house after the house was plastered,
then the priest shall pronounce the house clean,
because the disease is healed.
49 (Lev 14:4) He shall take two birds, and cedar wood, and scarlet,
and hyssop to cleanse the house.
50 Then he shall kill one of the birds in a clay vessel over running water.
51 He shall take the cedar wood, and the hyssop, and the scarlet,
and the living bird, and dip them in the blood of the slain bird,
and in the running water, and sprinkle the house seven times.
52 Then he shall cleanse the house with the blood of the bird,
and with the running water, and with the living bird,
and with the cedar wood, and with the hyssop, and with the scarlet.
53 But he shall let the living bird loose outside the city
into the open fields and make atonement for the house, and it shall be clean.
54 This is the law for all manner of leprous sore and scale,
55 and for the disease of a garment, or of a house,
56 (Lev 13:2) and for a swelling, or for a scab, or for a spot,
57 (Lev 10:10) to discern when it is unclean and when it is clean.
This is the law of leprosy.
[33] And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,
[34] When ye be come into the land of Canaan, which I give to you for a

walls of the house with hollow strakes, greenish or reddish, which in sight
are lower than the wall;
[38] Then the priest shall go out of the house to the door of the house, and
shut up the house seven days:
[39] And the priest shall come again the seventh day, and shall look: and,
behold, if the plague be spread in the walls of the house;
[40] Then the priest shall command that they take away the stones in which
the plague is, and they shall cast them into an unclean place without the
city:
[41] And he shall cause the house to be scraped within round about, and they
shall pour out the dust that they scrape off without the city into an
unclean place:
[42] And they shall take other stones, and put them in the place of those
stones; and he shall take other morter, and shall plaister the house.
[43] And if the plague come again, and break out in the house, after that he
hath taken away the stones, and after he hath scraped the house, and after
it is plaistered;
[44] Then the priest shall come and look, and, behold, if the plague be
spread in the house, it is a fretting leprosy in the house: it is unclean.
[45] And he shall break down the house, the stones of it, and the timber
thereof, and all the morter of the house; and he shall carry them forth out
of the city into an unclean place.
[46] Moreover he that goeth into the house all the while that it is shut up
shall be unclean until the even.
[47] And he that lieth in the house shall wash his clothes; and he that
eateth in the house shall wash his clothes.
[48] And if the priest shall come in, and look upon it, and, behold, the
plague hath not spread in the house, after the house was plaistered: then
the priest shall pronounce the house clean, because the plague is healed.
[49] And he shall take to cleanse the house two birds, and cedar wood, and
scarlet, and hyssop:
[50] And he shall kill the one of the birds in an earthen vessel over
running water:
[51] And he shall take the cedar wood, and the hyssop, and the scarlet, and
the living bird, and dip them in the blood of the slain bird, and in the
running water, and sprinkle the house seven times:
[52] And he shall cleanse the house with the blood of the bird, and with the
running water, and with the living bird, and with the cedar wood, and with
the hyssop, and with the scarlet:
[53] But he shall let go the living bird out of the city into the open
fields, and make an atonement for the house: and it shall be clean.
[54] This is the law for all manner of plague of leprosy, and scall,
[55] And for the leprosy of a garment, and of a house,
[56] And for a rising, and for a scab, and for a bright spot:
[57] To teach when it is unclean, and when it is clean: this is the law of
leprosy.
LEVITICUS 15
The Law About Bodily Discharges
1 Then the Lord spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying:
2 (Lev 22:4; Nu 5:2) Speak to the children of Israel,
and say to them: When any man has a discharge out of his body,
his discharge is unclean.
3 This is the instruction for his uncleanness in his discharge,
whether the discharge from his body flows or his body is
stopped up by his discharge, it is his uncleanness.
4 Every bed on which the man with the discharge lies shall be unclean,
and everything on which he sits shall be unclean.
5 (Lev 11:25; 16:26) Whoever touches the bed shall wash his clothes,
and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the evening.
6 And whoever sits on anything where the man sat who has the discharge
shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water,
and be unclean until the evening.
7 And whoever touches the body of him who has the discharge shall
wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water,
and be unclean until the evening.
8 If the man with the discharge spits on someone who is clean,
then he shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water,
and be unclean until the evening.
9 Any saddle on which the man with a discharge rides shall be unclean.
10 Whoever touches anything that was under him shall be unclean
until the evening, and he who carries any of those things shall
wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water,
and be unclean until the evening.
11 Whomever he who has the discharge touches,
and has not rinsed his hands in water,
he shall wash his clothes and bathe in water,
and be unclean until evening.
12 (Lev 6:28; 11:32-33) The earthen vessel that he who has the discharge
touches shall be broken, and every vessel of wood shall be rinsed in water.
13 (Lev 8:33; 14:8) When he who has a discharge is cleansed of his issue,
then he shall count to himself seven days for his cleansing,
and wash his clothes, and bathe his body in running water, and shall be clean.
14 (Lev 12:8) On the eighth day he shall take two turtledoves or two pigeons
and come before the Lord at the entrance of the tent of meeting
and give them to the priest.
15 (Lev 4:26; 14:30-31) And the priest shall offer them,
one for a sin offering and the other for a burnt offering,
and the priest shall make atonement for him before the Lord for his discharge.

17 Every garment and all leather on which there is seminal emission

19 (Lev 12:2) If a woman has a discharge, and the discharge from her body
is blood, she shall be set apart for seven days; and whoever touches
her shall be unclean until the evening.
20 (Lev 15:4-9) Everything that she lies on in her menstrual impurity
shall be unclean. Also, everything that she sits on shall be unclean.
21 Whoever touches her bed shall wash his clothes and bathe himself
in water, and be unclean until the evening.
22 Whoever touches anything on which she sits shall wash his clothes
and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the evening.
23 Whether it is the bed or anything on which she sits,
when he touches it he shall be unclean until the evening.
24 (Lev 20:18; 18:19) If any man lies with her,
and her menstrual impurity is on him,
he shall be unclean seven days,
and every bed where he lies shall be unclean.
25 (Mt 9:20; Mk 5:25) If a woman has a discharge of blood for many days,
not at the time of her menstrual impurity, or if she has a discharge
beyond the time of her impurity, all the days of the discharge
she shall be in uncleanness, as in the days of her impurity.
She shall be unclean.
26 Every bed that she lies on all the days of her discharge shall be
for impurity, and whatever she sits on shall be unclean,
as the uncleanness of her menstrual impurity.
27 Whoever touches those things shall be unclean
and shall wash his clothes and bathe himself in water
and be unclean until the evening.
28 (Lev 15:13-15) But if she is cleansed of her discharge,
then she shall count to herself seven days,
and after that she shall be clean.
29 On the eighth day she shall take two turtledoves
or two pigeons and bring them to the priest
at the entrance of the tent of meeting.
30 The priest shall offer one for a sin offering
and the other for a burnt offering,
and the priest shall make atonement for her before the Lord
for her unclean discharge.
31 (Nu 5:3; 19:13; 19:20) Thus you shall separate
the children of Israel from their uncleanness,
so that they do not die in their uncleanness by defiling
My tabernacle that is among them.
32 This is the law for him who has a discharge and for him
who has a seminal emission and thus becomes unclean,
33 and for her who is sick from her menstruation,
and for him who has a discharge, for anyone male or female,
and for the man who lies with a woman who is unclean.

thing, whereon he sitteth, shall be unclean.
[5] And whosoever toucheth his bed shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself
in water, and be unclean until the even.
[6] And he that sitteth on any thing whereon he sat that hath the issue
shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the
even.
[7] And he that toucheth the flesh of him that hath the issue shall wash his
clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.
[8] And if he that hath the issue spit upon him that is clean; then he shall
wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.
[9] And what saddle soever he rideth upon that hath the issue shall be
unclean.
[10] And whosoever toucheth any thing that was under him shall be unclean
until the even: and he that beareth any of those things shall wash his
clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.
[11] And whomsoever he toucheth that hath the issue, and hath not rinsed his
hands in water, he shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and
be unclean until the even.
[12] And the vessel of earth, that he toucheth which hath the issue, shall
be broken: and every vessel of wood shall be rinsed in water.
[13] And when he that hath an issue is cleansed of his issue; then he shall
number to himself seven days for his cleansing, and wash his clothes, and
bathe his flesh in running water, and shall be clean.
[14] And on the eighth day he shall take to him two turtledoves, or two
young pigeons, and come before the LORD unto the door of the tabernacle of
the congregation, and give them unto the priest:
[15] And the priest shall offer them, the one for a sin offering, and the
other for a burnt offering; and the priest shall make an atonement for him
before the LORD for his issue.
[16] And if any man's seed of copulation go out from him, then he shall wash
all his flesh in water, and be unclean until the even.
[17] And every garment, and every skin, whereon is the seed of copulation,
shall be washed with water, and be unclean until the even.
[18] The woman also with whom man shall lie with seed of copulation, they
shall both bathe themselves in water, and be unclean until the even.
[19] And if a woman have an issue, and her issue in her flesh be blood, she
shall be put apart seven days: and whosoever toucheth her shall be unclean
until the even.
[20] And every thing that she lieth upon in her separation shall be unclean:
every thing also that she sitteth upon shall be unclean.
[21] And whosoever toucheth her bed shall wash his clothes, and bathe
himself in water, and be unclean until the even.
[22] And whosoever toucheth any thing that she sat upon shall wash his
clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.
[23] And if it be on her bed, or on any thing whereon she sitteth, when he
toucheth it, he shall be unclean until the even.
[24] And if any man lie with her at all, and her flowers be upon him, he
shall be unclean seven days; and all the bed whereon he lieth shall be
unclean.
[25] And if a woman have an issue of her blood many days out of the time of
her separation, or if it run beyond the time of her separation; all the days
of the issue of her uncleanness shall be as the days of her separation: she
shall be unclean.
[26] Every bed whereon she lieth all the days of her issue shall be unto her
as the bed of her separation: and whatsoever she sitteth upon shall be
unclean, as the uncleanness of her separation.
[27] And whosoever toucheth those things shall be unclean, and shall wash
his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.
[28] But if she be cleansed of her issue, then she shall number to herself
seven days, and after that she shall be clean.
[29] And on the eighth day she shall take unto her two turtles, or two young
pigeons, and bring them unto the priest, to the door of the tabernacle of
the congregation.
[30] And the priest shall offer the one for a sin offering, and the other
for a burnt offering; and the priest shall make an atonement for her before
the LORD for the issue of her uncleanness.
[31] Thus shall ye separate the children of Israel from their uncleanness;
that they die not in their uncleanness, when they defile my tabernacle that
is among them.
[32] This is the law of him that hath an issue, and of him whose seed goeth
from him, and is defiled therewith;
[33] And of her that is sick of her flowers, and of him that hath an issue,
of the man, and of the woman, and of him that lieth with her that is
unclean.

Isaiah 64:1-8
1 (Mic 1:3-4; Ps 68:8) Oh, that You would rend the heavens and come down,
that the mountains might shake at Your presence,

as the fire causes the waters to boil,
to make Your name known to Your adversaries,
that the nations may tremble at Your presence!

Recently, my wife and I were cleaning our house before having guests over.
I noticed some dark stains on our white kitchen tile floor-the kind
that required getting on my knees to scrub.
But I soon had a sinking realization: the more I scrubbed, the more I noticed
other stains. Each stain I eliminated only made the others that much more
obvious. Our kitchen floor suddenly seemed impossibly dirty. And with each
moment, I realized, No matter how hard I work, I can never get this floor
completely clean.
Scripture says something similar about self-cleansing-our best efforts at
dealing with sin on our own always fall short. Seeming to despair of God's
people, the Israelites, ever experiencing God's salvation (Isaiah 64:5), the
prophet Isaiah wrote, "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our
righteousnesses are as filthy rags;" (v. 6).
But Isaiah knew there is always hope through God's goodness. So he prayed,
"O Lord, You are our Father;
we are the clay, and You are our potter;" (v.
. He knew that God alone can
cleanse what we cannot, until the deepest stains are "white as snow" (1:18).
We can't scrub away the smudges and smears of sin on our souls. Thankfully,
we can receive salvation in the One whose sacrifice allows us to be cleansed
completely (1 John 1:7).

"PLEASE BE PATIENT - GOD IS NOT FINISHED WITH ME YET,"
the sweatshirt read. In this case, the message was an ironic one,
for the occupant of the shirt was a snaggle-toothed, freckle-faced six year
old!
In one sense, God is not finished with the work he has to do in each of us.
Life in Christ is an ongoing process of change and growth as we become
more like him. Certainly, the more we see of ourselves, the more we hope
he isn't finished with us!
Yet whatever plans God has for making us into the men and women he created
us to be, certain aspects of our life in Christ are finished, finalised.
Jesus declares with absolute assurance, "whoever hears
My word and believes in Him who sent Me has eternal life
and shall not come into condemnation, but has passed from death into life. "
Because we do not have to earn or deserve God's grace, because we are not
called to prove ourselves worthy of Salvation, we can have immediate
and total assurance of the security of life in Jesus Christ. The one who
put his trust in the Lord has eternal life; he will not be condemned;
he has crossed over from death to life.
This "crossing over" into life happens in the split second when we acknowledge
our dependence upon Christ alone. And the rest of our lives is given over to
the development of his image in us.
God is not finished with us yet.
But his work of salvation is finished - complete,
fully dependable an accomplished fact.
Application
a) Have I ever doubted the "accomplished fact" of my own salvation? Why?
b) How can today's verse help me realise that, although I may have a lot of
growing yet to do, my salvation in Jesus Christ is secure?

Alberta may have a total as high as 195240 today.
Calgary is notable as the first Canadian city with a Muslim mayor. It's
become a prominent place of Islamic fundamentalism.
Edmonton's Muslim population is very diverse, with the largest group
coming from Tanzania, followed by Somalia, and then North African countries
such as Egypt, Morocco, etc.
Muslims are coming to faith in Jesus! They overcome huge spiritual,
emotional and cultural hurdles to follow Christ. Yet their challenges still
continue, especially in growing in discipleship. They often fell lost in our
Western congregations, and equally lost trying to find a church body with whom
they can identify. some are even being lured into Christian cult groups.

- for Canadian churches to start contextualised discipleship ministries to

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.
For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.
You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"
Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you
know, and Muslims around the world:
- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.
Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,
"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
18 Even on My menservants and maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.

DAY 12: Stand Firm
Verse of the day: "1 (Php 1:8; 1:27; 1Co 16:13)
Therefore, my beloved and longed-for brothers,
my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my beloved.
[1] Therefore, my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown,
so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved. " Philippians 4:1
We all face day-to-day struggles and temptations that make it difficult to
stand firm in the Lord. Satan tries to take our eyes off the prize by
tempting us. These temptations in life cause us to take a step back in our
walk with God. But stand fast and hold firm. Be strong in the Lord, and do
not be moved by the circumstances of life or thrown by the enemy's evil
ploys.
An encouraging word is written in Deuteronomy 31:6 - "Be strong
and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for
the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee;
he will not fail thee,nor forsake thee. "
Standing firm in the Lord is keeping your focus on the right thing, Jesus
rather than our problems or difficulties in life.
Reflection: What do I do to stand firm in my faith?
Prayer: Father, teach us what it means to be solid and immovable in our
faith. When life is difficult, Father, it gets hard to remember all of the
truths of God- Remind us who You are. Foster in us a focused, forgiving,
and obedient spirit ready to get up and shore the love of Jesus with the
people You have placed around us. Lord, make us strong and immovable
and help us grow into the person of God You call us to be.
I pray that the lies and distractions of the enemy fall dead at our feet and
fly over our heads, never taking root in our thoughts or hearts. Father,
amplify Your voice and Your Truth above all other voices in our lives. Lord,
help me to be laser-focused on You, so we can withstand the arrows the
enemy shoots our way.
Father, we pray let nothing move us! In Jesus wonderful name, we pray,

The Law for Cleansing Lepers
1 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
2 (Lk 17:14; Nu 6:9) This shall be the law of the leper in the day
of his cleansing: It shall be reported to the priest,
3 (Lev 13:46) and the priest shall go out of the camp, and the priest
shall examine him and see if the disease is healed in the leprous person.
4 (Nu 19:6; Lev 14:6) Then the priest shall command that two live clean birds
and cedar wood and scarlet fabric and hyssop be brought for him
who is to be cleansed.
5 The priest shall command that one of the birds be slaughtered
in a clay vessel over running water.
6 As for the living bird, he shall take it, the cedar wood,
the scarlet, and the hyssop, and shall dip them and the living bird
in the blood of the bird that was killed over the running water.
7 (2Ki 5:10; 5:14) Then he shall sprinkle it seven times on him
who is to be cleansed from leprosy, and he shall pronounce him
clean and shall let the living bird loose into the open field.
8 (Lev 11:25; Nu 8:7) He that is to be cleansed shall wash his clothes,
and shave off all his hair, and wash himself in water,
so that he may be clean. After that he shall come into the camp
and shall stay outside of his tent seven days.
9 (Nu 6:9) But it shall be on the seventh day that he shall shave
all his hair off his head and his beard and his eyebrows,
all his hair he shall shave off, and he shall wash his clothes.
Also he shall wash his body in water, and he shall be clean.
10 (Lev 2:1; 14:12) On the eighth day he shall take two male lambs
without blemish, and one ewe lamb a year old without blemish,
and three-tenths of an ephah (Or stranger.) of wheat flour mixed
with oil for a grain offering, and one log of oil.
(About 1/3 quart, or 0.3 liter; and in vv. 12, 15, 21, and 24.)
11 The priest who makes him clean shall present the man
who is to be made clean and those things before the Lord
at the entrance of the tent of meeting.
12 (Ex 29:24; Lev 6:6-7) Then the priest shall take one male lamb
and offer it for a guilt offering, along with the log of oil,
and wave them for a wave offering before the Lord.
13 (Ex 29:11; Lev 1:11) Then he shall slaughter the lamb in the place
where they kill the sin offering and the burnt offering in the holy
sanctuary. For as the sin offering is the priest's, so is the guilt offering.
It is most holy.
14 (Ex 29:20; Lev 8:23-24) And the priest shall take some of the blood
of the guilt offering, and the priest shall put it on the tip of the right
ear of him who is to be cleansed, and on the thumb of his right hand,
and on the big toe of his right foot.
15 And the priest shall take some of the log of oil and pour it into the palm
of his own left hand.
16 Then the priest shall dip his right finger in the oil that is
in his left hand, and shall sprinkle from the oil with his finger
seven times before the Lord.
17 And some of the rest of the oil that is in his hand the priest
shall put on the tip of the right ear of him who is to be cleansed,
and on the thumb of his right hand, and on the big toe of his right foot,
and on the blood of the guilt offering.
18 (Lev 4:26) And the rest of the oil that is in the priest's hand
he shall pour upon the head of him who is to be cleansed,
and the priest shall make atonement for him before the Lord.
19 (Lev 14:12) The priest shall offer the sin offering,
and make atonement for him who is to be cleansed
from his ceremonial uncleanness,
and afterward he shall kill the burnt offering.
20 (Lev 14:10) Then the priest shall offer the burnt offering
and the grain offering on the altar, and the priest shall
make atonement for him, and he shall be clean.
21 (Lev 12:8; 5:7) But if he is poor and cannot afford so much,
then he shall take one male lamb for a guilt offering to be waved
to make atonement for him, and one-tenth of an ephah
(Likely about 3 1/2 pounds, or 1.6 kilograms.)
of wheat flour mixed with oil for a grain offering, and a log of oil,
22 and two turtledoves or two pigeons, such as he is able to afford.
The one shall be a sin offering and the other a burnt offering.
23 (Lev 14:10-11) He shall bring them on the eighth day
for his cleansing to the priest at the entrance
of the tent of meeting before the Lord.
24 The priest shall take the lamb of the guilt offering,
along with the log of oil, and the priest shall wave them
for a wave offering before the Lord.
25 Then he shall kill the lamb of the guilt offering;
and the priest shall take some of the blood of the guilt offering
and put it on the tip of the right ear of him who is to be cleansed
and on the thumb of his right hand and on the big toe of his right foot.
26 Next the priest shall pour some of the oil into the palm
of his own left hand,
27 and the priest shall sprinkle with his right finger
some of the oil that is in his left hand seven times before the Lord.
28 Then the priest shall put some of the oil that is in his hand
on the tip of the right ear of him who is to be cleansed,
and on the thumb of his right hand,
and on the big toe of his right foot on the place of the blood
of the guilt offering.
29 (Lev 14:18) The rest of the oil that is in the priest's hand
he shall pour on the head of him who is to be cleansed to make
atonement for him before the Lord.

seven times, and shall pronounce him clean, and shall let the living bird
loose into the open field.
[8] And he that is to be cleansed shall wash his clothes, and shave off all
his hair, and wash himself in water, that he may be clean: and after that he
shall come into the camp, and shall tarry abroad out of his tent seven days.

his head and his beard and his eyebrows, even all his hair he shall shave

The Law About Leprous Houses
33 The Lord spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying:
34 (Ge 17:8; Dt 32:49) When you have come into the land of Canaan,
which I am giving to you for a possession, and I put a leprous disease
in a house of the land of your possession,
35 (Ps 91:10; Zec 5:4) then he who owns the house shall come
and tell the priest, "It seems to me there is some disease in the house."
36 Then the priest shall command that they empty the house
before the priest goes into it to examine the disease,
so that all that is in the house is not made unclean.
Afterwards, the priest shall go in to examine the house.
37 He shall examine the disease and see if the disease is in the walls
of the house with greenish or reddish spots, which appear to go deeper
than the wall.
38 Then the priest shall go out to the door of the house and close off
the house seven days.
39 The priest shall return on the seventh day
and shall examine and see if the disease has spread in the walls of the house.
40 Then the priest shall command that they take away the stones in which
the disease appears and throw them into an unclean place outside the city.
41 And he shall cause the house to be scraped all around, and they shall
pour out the plaster that they scrape off
outside the city into an unclean place.
42 And they shall take other stones and put them in the place of those stones,
and he shall take other plaster and shall plaster the house.
43 If the disease comes again and breaks out in the house after he has taken
away the stones and after he has scraped the house and after it is plastered,
44 (Lev 13:51-52) then the priest shall come and examine and see if the
disease has spread in the house. If the disease has spread in the house,
it is a persistent leprosy in the house; it is unclean.
45He shall break down the house, the stones and the timber,
and all the plaster of the house, and he shall carry them
out of the city into an unclean place.
46 (Nu 19:21-22) Moreover, he who goes into the house
while it is closed off shall be unclean until the evening.
47 And he who sleeps in the house shall wash his clothes,

Recently, my wife and I were cleaning our house before having guests over.
I noticed some dark stains on our white kitchen tile floor-the kind
that required getting on my knees to scrub.
But I soon had a sinking realization: the more I scrubbed, the more I noticed
other stains. Each stain I eliminated only made the others that much more
obvious. Our kitchen floor suddenly seemed impossibly dirty. And with each
moment, I realized, No matter how hard I work, I can never get this floor
completely clean.
Scripture says something similar about self-cleansing-our best efforts at
dealing with sin on our own always fall short. Seeming to despair of God's
people, the Israelites, ever experiencing God's salvation (Isaiah 64:5), the
prophet Isaiah wrote, "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our
righteousnesses are as filthy rags;" (v. 6).
But Isaiah knew there is always hope through God's goodness. So he prayed,
"O Lord, You are our Father;
we are the clay, and You are our potter;" (v.
. He knew that God alone cancleanse what we cannot, until the deepest stains are "white as snow" (1:18).
We can't scrub away the smudges and smears of sin on our souls. Thankfully,
we can receive salvation in the One whose sacrifice allows us to be cleansed
completely (1 John 1:7).

"PLEASE BE PATIENT - GOD IS NOT FINISHED WITH ME YET,"
the sweatshirt read. In this case, the message was an ironic one,
for the occupant of the shirt was a snaggle-toothed, freckle-faced six year
old!
In one sense, God is not finished with the work he has to do in each of us.
Life in Christ is an ongoing process of change and growth as we become
more like him. Certainly, the more we see of ourselves, the more we hope
he isn't finished with us!
Yet whatever plans God has for making us into the men and women he created
us to be, certain aspects of our life in Christ are finished, finalised.
Jesus declares with absolute assurance, "whoever hears
My word and believes in Him who sent Me has eternal life
and shall not come into condemnation, but has passed from death into life. "
Because we do not have to earn or deserve God's grace, because we are not
called to prove ourselves worthy of Salvation, we can have immediate
and total assurance of the security of life in Jesus Christ. The one who
put his trust in the Lord has eternal life; he will not be condemned;
he has crossed over from death to life.
This "crossing over" into life happens in the split second when we acknowledge
our dependence upon Christ alone. And the rest of our lives is given over to
the development of his image in us.
God is not finished with us yet.
But his work of salvation is finished - complete,
fully dependable an accomplished fact.
Application
a) Have I ever doubted the "accomplished fact" of my own salvation? Why?
b) How can today's verse help me realise that, although I may have a lot of
growing yet to do, my salvation in Jesus Christ is secure?

It is estimated that Calgary has 82000 Muslims and Edmonton another 50000 .
Alberta may have a total as high as 195240 today.
Calgary is notable as the first Canadian city with a Muslim mayor. It's
become a prominent place of Islamic fundamentalism.
Edmonton's Muslim population is very diverse, with the largest group
coming from Tanzania, followed by Somalia, and then North African countries
such as Egypt, Morocco, etc.
Muslims are coming to faith in Jesus! They overcome huge spiritual,
emotional and cultural hurdles to follow Christ. Yet their challenges still
continue, especially in growing in discipleship. They often fell lost in our
Western congregations, and equally lost trying to find a church body with whom
they can identify. some are even being lured into Christian cult groups.
Please join us in praying for:
- The church to reach out to the growing Muslim populations in Alberta.
- for Canadian churches to start contextualised discipleship ministries to
Muslim-background believers.
- for Muslm-background believers to be well grounded spiritually and socially
in their faith and the Church.

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.
For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.
You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"
Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you
know, and Muslims around the world:
- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.
Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,
"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
18 Even on My menservants and maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.
19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below:
blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,

Ideas for prayer
- Pray for opportunities to show the love of Christ to Muslims around you
- Pray for, and offer generous hospitality to, those you know who are serving
Christ among Muslim people -
Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."
- When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims
throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days!
My paternal side is of Muslim heritage and will offer this section to further
call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity

DAY 12: Stand Firm
Verse of the day: "1 (Php 1:8; 1:27; 1Co 16:13)
Therefore, my beloved and longed-for brothers,
my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my beloved.
[1] Therefore, my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown,
so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved. " Philippians 4:1
We all face day-to-day struggles and temptations that make it difficult to
stand firm in the Lord. Satan tries to take our eyes off the prize by
tempting us. These temptations in life cause us to take a step back in our
walk with God. But stand fast and hold firm. Be strong in the Lord, and do
not be moved by the circumstances of life or thrown by the enemy's evil
ploys.
An encouraging word is written in Deuteronomy 31:6 - "Be strong
and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for
the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee;
he will not fail thee,nor forsake thee. "
Standing firm in the Lord is keeping your focus on the right thing, Jesus
rather than our problems or difficulties in life.
Reflection: What do I do to stand firm in my faith?
Prayer: Father, teach us what it means to be solid and immovable in our
faith. When life is difficult, Father, it gets hard to remember all of the
truths of God- Remind us who You are. Foster in us a focused, forgiving,
and obedient spirit ready to get up and shore the love of Jesus with the
people You have placed around us. Lord, make us strong and immovable
and help us grow into the person of God You call us to be.
I pray that the lies and distractions of the enemy fall dead at our feet and
fly over our heads, never taking root in our thoughts or hearts. Father,
amplify Your voice and Your Truth above all other voices in our lives. Lord,
help me to be laser-focused on You, so we can withstand the arrows the
enemy shoots our way.
Father, we pray let nothing move us! In Jesus wonderful name, we pray,
Amen.
