Day 362 of the 2nd Bible Study Journey - 28 December 2022 reflections
Day 362, 28 December 2022
1)Revelation 15-18
Revelation 15
The Angels With the Last Plagues
1 (Rev 21:9; 15:6-7) I saw another great and marvelous sign in heaven:
seven angels having the seven last plagues, for in them the wrath of God
is complete.
2 (Rev 4:6; 5:8; 12:11) And I saw what looked like a sea of glass mixed
with fire, and those who have the victory over the beast, over his image
and over his mark and over the number of his name, standing on the sea
of glass, having harps of God.
3 (Ps 111:2; 139:14) They sang the song of Moses, the servant of God,
and the song of the Lamb, saying:
"Great and marvelous are Your works,
Lord God Almighty!
Just and true are Your ways,
O King of saints!
4 (Ps 86:9; Jer 10:7) Who shall not fear You, O Lord,
and glorify Your name?
For You alone are holy.
All nations shall come
and worship before You,
for Your judgments have been revealed."(Isa 25:8.)
5 (Nu 1:50; Rev 11:19) After this I looked. And now
the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened.
6 (Rev 1:13; 15:1) The seven angels came out of the temple
with the seven plagues. They were clothed in pure, bright linen,
having their chests wrapped with golden sashes.
7 (Rev 5:8) Then one of the four living creatures gave to the seven angels
seven golden bowls full of the wrath of God, who lives forever and ever.
8 (Isa 6:4; 1Ki 8:10-11) And the temple was filled with smoke
from the glory of God and from His power. No one was able to enter
the temple until the seven plagues of the seven angels were completed.
[1] And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels
having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God.
[2] And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had
gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark,
and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps
of God.
[3] And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the
Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just
and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.
[4] Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art
holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments
are made manifest.
[5] And after that I looked, and, behold, the temple of the tabernacle of
the testimony in heaven was opened:
[6] And the seven angels came out of the temple, having the seven plagues,
clothed in pure and white linen, and having their breasts girded with golden
girdles.
[7] And one of the four beasts gave unto the seven angels seven golden vials
full of the wrath of God, who liveth for ever and ever.
[8] And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from his
power; and no man was able to enter into the temple, till the seven plagues
of the seven angels were fulfilled.
Revelation 16
The Seven Bowls of God's Wrath
1 (Rev 15:1; 16:2-12) Then I heard a loud voice from the temple saying to
the seven angels, "Go, pour out the bowls of the wrath of God on the earth."
2 (Rev 8:7) The first went and poured out his bowl on the earth, and foul
and grievous sores came on the men who had the mark of the beast
and those who worshipped his image.
3 (Ex 7:17-21; Rev 8:8-9) The second angel poured out his bowl on the sea.
It became like the blood of a dead man, and every living creature
in the sea died.
4 (Ex 7:17-20) The third angel poured out his bowl on the rivers
and springs of water, and they became blood.
5 (Rev 1:4; 11:17) Then I heard the angel of the waters saying:
"You are righteous, O Lord,
who is and was and who is to be,
because You have judged these things.
6 (Isa 49:26; Rev 18:24) For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets,
and You have given them blood to drink. It is what they deserve!"
7 (Rev 6:9; 19:2) And I heard another from the altar saying:
"Yes, Lord God Almighty,
true and righteous are Your judgments."
8 (Rev 14:18; 6:12) The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun,
and power was given to him to scorch men with fire.
(Say goodbye to the Val Ellen belts)
9 (Rev 2:21; 11:13) Men were scorched with great heat, and they blasphemed
the name of God who has power over these plagues, and they did not repent
and give Him glory.
10 (Rev 9:2) The fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast,
and his kingdom was filled with darkness. They gnawed their tongues
because of the anguish,
11 (Rev 16:9; 16:2; 16:21) and blasphemed the God of heaven because of their
pains and their sores, and did not repent of their deeds.
12 (Rev 9:14; Isa 11:15) The sixth angel poured out his bowl
on the great Euphrates River, and its water was dried up,
to prepare the way for the kings from the East.
13 (Rev 19:20; 20:10) Then I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming
out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast,
and out of the mouth of the false prophet.
14 (1Ti 4:1; Rev 17:14) For they are spirits of demons, performing signs,
who go out to the kings of the earth and of the whole world,
to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.
15 (Rev 3:18; Mt 24:42-43) "Look, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who
watches and keeps his garments on,
lest he walk naked and his shame be exposed."
16 (Jdg 5:19; Zec 12:11) They gathered them together to the place which
in Hebrew is called Armageddon.
17 (Eph 2:2; Rev 21:6) The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air,
and a loud voice came out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying,
"It is done!"
18 (Da 12:1; Rev 4:5) And there were noises and thundering and lightning
and a great earthquake, such a mighty and great earthquake, as had never
occurred since men were on the earth.
19 (Rev 18:5; 17:18) The great city was divided into three parts,
and the cities of the nations fell. Babylon the Great was remembered
before God, to give to her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of His wrath.
20 (Rev 6:14; 20:11) Every island fled away,
and the mountains were not found.
21 (Rev 11:19; 16:9) Great hail, about the weight of a hundred pounds,
(Or 45 kilograms.) fell from heaven upon man. Men blasphemed God
because of the plague of the hail, because that plague was so severe.
[1] And I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels,
Go your ways, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth.
[2] And the first went, and poured out his vial upon the earth; and there
fell a noisome and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the
beast, and upon them which worshipped his image.
[3] And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea; and it became as
the blood of a dead man: and every living soul died in the sea.
[4] And the third angel poured out his vial upon the rivers and fountains of
waters; and they became blood.
[5] And I heard the angel of the waters say, Thou art righteous, O Lord,
which art, and wast, and shalt be, because thou hast judged thus.
[6] For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and thou hast given
them blood to drink; for they are worthy.
[7] And I heard another out of the altar say, Even so, Lord God Almighty,
true and righteous are thy judgments.
[8] And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was
given unto him to scorch men with fire.
[9] And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God,
which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him
glory.
[10] And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast; and
his kingdom was full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues for pain,
[11] And blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their
sores, and repented not of their deeds.
[12] And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates;
and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east
might be prepared.
[13] And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the
dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false
prophet.
[14] For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth
unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the
battle of that great day of God Almighty.
[15] Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his
garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.
[16] And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue
Armageddon.
[17] And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came
a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is
done.
[18] And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a
great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty
an earthquake, and so great.
[19] And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the
nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto
her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.
[20] And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found.
[21] And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about
the weight of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the
hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great.

Revelation 17
The Great Harlot and the Beast
1 (Jer 51:13; Rev 19:2) One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls
came and talked with me, saying to me, "Come, I will show you the judgment
of the great prostitute who sits on many waters,
2 (Rev 14:8; 18:3) with whom the kings of the earth committed adultery,
and the inhabitants of the earth were made drunk with the wine
of her sexual immorality."
3 (Rev 12:3; 12:6; 12:14) Then he carried me away in the Spirit
into the wilderness. I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full
of blasphemous names, having seven heads and ten horns.
4 (Jer 51:7; Rev 18:16) The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet,
and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand
a golden cup full of abominations and the filth of her sexual immorality.
5 (Rev 14:8; 2Th 2:7) On her forehead a name was written:
MYSTERY,
BABYLON THE GREAT,
THE MOTHER OF PROSTITUTES
AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
6 (Rev 16:6; 2:13) I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints
and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus.
When I saw her, I marveled greatly.
7 Then the angel said to me, "Why do you marvel? I will tell you the mystery
of the woman and of the beast that carries her, which has the seven heads
and the ten horns.
8 (Rev 11:7; 17:11) The beast, which you saw, was, and is not,
and is to ascend out of the bottomless pit and go to destruction.
Those who dwell on the earth whose names are not written
in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world will marvel
when they see the beast that was, and is not, and is to come.
9 (Rev 13:18; 17:3) "Here is the mind which has wisdom: The seven heads
are seven mountains on which the woman sits.
10 They are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, the other
has not yet come; and when he comes, he must remain a little while.
11 (Rev 17:8) Concerning the beast who was, and is not, he is the eighth,
and is of the seven, and is going to destruction.
12 (Da 7:24; Rev 12:3) "The ten horns which you saw are ten kings
who have received no kingdom yet, but they will receive authority
as kings for one hour with the beast.
13 (Rev 17:17) These are of one mind and will give their power
and authority to the beast.
14 (1Ti 6:15; Rev 16:14; 1:5) These will wage war with the Lamb,
but the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings.
Those who are with Him are called and chosen and faithful."
15 (Rev 17:1) Then he said to me, "The waters which you saw, where
the prostitute sits, are peoples and multitudes and nations and tongues.
16 (Rev 18:8; 18:16-17) These ten horns and the beast which you saw will
hate the prostitute; they will make her desolate and naked,
and devour her flesh, and burn her with fire.
17 (Rev 10:7; 17:13) For God has put in their hearts to fulfill His will,
and to be of one mind, and to give their kingdom to the beast,
until the words of God are fulfilled.
18 (Rev 16:19) The woman whom you saw is that great city,
which reigns over the kings of the earth."
[1] And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and
talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the
judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters:
[2] With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the
inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her
fornication.
[3] So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a
woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having
seven heads and ten horns.
[4] And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with
gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of
abominations and filthiness of her fornication:
[5] And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT,
THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
[6] And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the
blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great
admiration.
[7] And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell
thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which
hath the seven heads and ten horns.
[8] The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the
bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth
shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the
foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not,
and yet is.
[9] And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven
mountains, on which the woman sitteth.
[10] And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other
is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.
[11] And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of
the seven, and goeth into perdition.
[12] And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received
no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.
[13] These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the
beast.
[14] These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them:
for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are
called, and chosen, and faithful.
[15] And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore
sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.
[16] And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate
the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh,
and burn her with fire.
[17] For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and
give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be
fulfilled.
[18] And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over
the kings of the earth.
Revelation 18
The Fall of Babylon
1 (Eze 43:2; Rev 17:1) After this I saw another angel coming down from heaven,
having great authority, and the earth was illuminated with his glory.
2 (Rev 14:8; Jer 51:37) He cried out mightily with a loud voice, saying:
"'Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great!'(Isa 21:9.)
She has become a dwelling place of demons,
a haunt for every unclean spirit,
and a haunt for every unclean and hateful bird.
3 (Rev 14:8; 17:2) For all the nations have drunk
of the wine of the wrath of her sexual immorality,
the kings of the earth have committed adultery with her,
and the merchants of the earth have become rich through the
abundance of her luxury."
4 (2Co 6:17; Isa 48:20) Then I heard another voice from heaven saying:
"'Come out of her, my people,'(Jer 51:45.)
lest you partake in her sins,
and lest you receive her plagues.
5 (Jer 51:9; Rev 16:19) For her sins have reached up to heaven,
and God has remembered her iniquities.
6 (Ps 137:8; Jer 50:15) Render to her as she has rendered to you,
and repay her double for her deeds;
in the cup which she has mixed, mix a double portion for her.
7 (Zep 2:15) To the extent that she glorified herself and lived luxuriously,
so give her torment and sorrow;
for in her heart she says,
'I sit as a queen, and am no widow,
and will see no sorrow.'(Isa 47:7-8.)
8 (Jer 50:31; 50:34) Therefore her plagues will come in one day-
death and mourning and famine.
And she will be utterly burned with fire,
for strong is the Lord God who judges her.
9 (Rev 17:2; 18:3) "The kings of the earth, who have committed adultery
and lived luxuriously with her, will weep and mourn over her when they
see the smoke of her burning.
10 (Rev 18:19; 18:8; 14:8) Standing far off for the fear of her torment,
they will say:
'Alas, alas for that great city,
that mighty city, Babylon!
In one hour your judgment has come.'
11 (Rev 18:3; 18:15) "The merchants of the earth will weep and mourn over her,
for no one buys their merchandise any more:
12 (Rev 17:4) the merchandise of gold, silver, precious stones and pearls,
fine linen, purple, silk and scarlet, all kinds of scented wood,
all artifacts of ivory, all merchandise of costly wood, bronze, iron,
and marble;
13 (Eze 27:13; 1Ti 1:10) and cinnamon and incense, myrrh and frankincense,
wine, oil, fine flour and wheat, cattle and sheep, horses and chariots,
and slaves and souls of men.
14 'The fruit that your soul lusted after
has departed from you,
and all the things which graceful and exquisite
have departed from you,
and you shall never find them.'
15 (Rev 18:3; Eze 27:31) "The merchants of these things, who gained wealth
by her, will stand far off for fear of her torment, weeping and wailing,
16 (Rev 17:4) and saying:
'Alas, alas, that great city,
that was arrayed in fine linen, in purple and scarlet,
and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls!
17 (Rev 17:16) In one hour such great riches came to nothing!'
"All sea captains and seafaring men, sailors and all who trade by sea,
stood far off,
18 (Rev 13:4; 18:9-10) and cried out when they saw the smoke of her burning,
saying, 'What city is like this great city?'
19 (Jos 7:6; Rev 18:10) They threw dust on their heads and cried out,
weeping and wailing, and saying:
'Alas, alas, that great city,
in which all who had ships in the sea
grew rich from her wealth!
In one hour she has been laid waste!'
20 (Lk 11:49-50; Rev 6:10) "Rejoice over her, O heaven
and saints and apostles and prophets,
for God has avenged you against her."
21 (Jer 51:63-64; Eze 26:21) Then a mighty angel took up a stone like
a great millstone and threw it into the sea, saying:
"With such violence
shall that great city Babylon be thrown down,
and shall be found no more.
22 (Jer 25:10; Eze 26:13) The sound of harpists and musicians, flute players
and trumpeters,
shall not be heard in you any more.
No craftsman of any craft
shall be found in you any more,
and the sound of a millstone
shall not be heard in you any more.
23 (Isa 23:8; Na 3:4) The light of a lamp
shall shine in you no more,
and the voice of bridegroom and of bride
shall be heard in you no more.
For your merchants were the great men of the earth,
and all nations were deceived by your sorcery.
24 (Rev 17:6; Jer 51:49) In her was found the blood of prophets and of saints
and of all who were slain on the earth."
[1] And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having
great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.
[2] And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is
fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of
every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.
[3] For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication,
and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the
merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her
delicacies.
[4] And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my
people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her
plagues.
[5] For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her
iniquities.
[6] Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double
according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double.
[7] How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much
torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and
am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.
[8] Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and
famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord
God who judgeth her.
[9] And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived
deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall
see the smoke of her burning,
[10] Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that
great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.
[11] And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no
man buyeth their merchandise any more:
[12] The merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of
pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine
wood, and all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most
precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble,
[13] And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine,
and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and
chariots, and slaves, and souls of men.
[14] And the fruits that thy soul lusted after are departed from thee, and
all things which were dainty and goodly are departed from thee, and thou
shalt find them no more at all.
[15] The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, shall stand
afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing,
[16] And saying, Alas, alas, that great city, that was clothed in fine
linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones,
and pearls!
[17] For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every
shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade
by sea, stood afar off,
[18] And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is
like unto this great city!
[19] And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing,
saying, Alas, alas, that great city, wherein were made rich all that had
ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made
desolate.
[20] Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for
God hath avenged you on her.
[21] And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it
into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be
thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.
[22] And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters,
shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft
he be, shall be found any more in thee; and the sound of a millstone shall
be heard no more at all in thee;
[23] And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the
voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in
thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy
sorceries were all nations deceived.
[24] And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all
that were slain upon the earth.
2) Our Daily Bread for 28 December 2022
Entitled "In All Our Dealings"
2 Corinthians 1:12-16
Paul's Travel Plans Change
12 (2Co 2:17; 1Co 2:13) For our rejoicing is this:
The testimony of our conscience is that we conducted
ourselves in the world, and more abundantly toward you,
in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom,
but by the grace of God.
13 For we write nothing else to you than what you read
or understand. And I trust you will understand even to the end,
14 (1Co 1:8; 2Co 2:5) as you have understood us in part,
that we are yours, boasting even as you are ours
on the day of the Lord Jesus.
15 (Ro 1:11; 1Co 4:19) In this confidence I planned
to come to you before, that you might have a second benefit:
16 (1Co 16:5-7) to visit you while going to Macedonia,
and to come again to you from Macedonia, and then be sent by you
on my way to Judea.
[12] For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in
simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of
God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to
you-ward.
[13] For we write none other things unto you, than what ye read or
acknowledge; and I trust ye shall acknowledge even to the end;
[14] As also ye have acknowledged us in part, that we are your rejoicing,
even as ye also are ours in the day of the Lord Jesus.
[15] And in this confidence I was minded to come unto you before, that ye
might have a second benefit;
[16] And to pass by you into Macedonia, and to come again out of Macedonia
unto you, and of you to be brought on my way toward Judaea.
In 1524, Martin Luther observed: "Among themselves the merchants have a common
rule which is their chief maxim. . . . I care nothing about my neighbor; so long
as I have my profit and satisfy my greed." More than two hundred years later,
John Woolman, from Mount Holly, New Jersey, let his commitment to Jesus
influence his tailor shop dealings. Out of support for the freeing of slaves,
he refused to purchase any cotton or dye supplies from companies that used
forced labour. With a clear conscience, he loved his neighbour and lived
according to integrity and sincerity in all his dealings.
The apostle Paul strived to live out "integrity and godly sincerity" (2 Corinthians 1:12). When some in Corinth tried to undermine his authority as an
apostle for Jesus, he defended his conduct among them. He wrote that his words
and actions could withstand the closest scrutiny (v. 13). He also showed that
he was dependent on God's power and grace for effectiveness, not his own
(v. 12). In short, Paul's faith in Christ permeated all his dealings.
As we live as ambassadors for Jesus, may we be careful to let the good news
ring out in all our dealings-family, business, and more. When by God's power
and grace we reveal His love to others, we honor Him and love our neighbours
well.

Reflect & Pray
How are your words and actions a representation of your faith
in Jesus? As a believer in Him, why are integrity
and sincerity vital in your dealings with others?
Dear God, help me to serve others with

Week 3 - Saved Now and Forever - Day 4 - Daddy!
Romans 8:15
'For you have not received the spirit of slavery again to fear. But you have
received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, "Abba, Father." '
15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have
received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
"I've always been a Daddy's girl," Sandi said proudly, and her relationship
with her father proved it. She was never spoiled, but even as a grown woman,
Sandi maintained a closeness with her father, sharing intimately with him the
important issues of her life. And just her use of the name "Daddy" indicated
that he was, indeed a warm, approachable, affectionate man.
Many people are not so fortunate. Some fathers are stern and harsh;
others absent or uncaring, some even abusive. Few have the king of father
who presents a picture of the loving fatherhood of God.
But whatever our concept of fatherhood, God makes clear that he is everything
we always wanted our fathers to be - loving, forgiving, approachable,
totally accepting of us as we are, encouraging us to become all he has
created us to be.
In Romans 8, Paul calls God our "Abba Father". The Aramaic word for Father,
Abba, is an intimate term that might well be translated, Daddy.
God is our "Daddy," our "Abba" - not a distant, stern patriarch ready
to strike us down at the first sign of transgression, but a gentle,
loving Father who longs for us to climb into his lap and let him comfort us.
When we commit ourselves to Christ, Paul indicates, we do not receive a
"spirit of bondage to fear" but a "spirit of adoption." We are not called
to respond to God out of fear, but out of love and reverence.
We can relax and enjoy his presence, for we are his children,
and he is our loving Daddy.
Application
a) What concept of fatherhood do I have from my own experience with my father?
How does that correspond to Paul's description of God as "Daddy"?
b) How can this verse help change my perception of what it means to have
God as my Father?
4) From Prosperity Promises - Kenneth Copeland
2 Chr 26:5
5 (2 Ch 24:2; Da 1:17) And he sought after God in the days of Zechariah,
the one who instructed him in the fear of the Lord. And in the days
that he sought after the Lord, God caused him to succeed.
5 And he sought God in the days of Zechariah,
who had understanding in the visions of God: and as long
as he sought the LORD, God made him to prosper.

PSALMS 40
1 I waited patiently for the Lord,
and He turned to me, and heard my cry.
2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) He also brought me up out of a horrible pit,
out of the miry clay,
and set my feet on a rock,
and established my steps.
3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) He has put a new song in my mouth,
even praise to our God;
many will see it, and fear,
and will trust in the Lord.
...
9 (Ps 38:6; 18:2) I have proclaimed righteousness
in the great congregation;
I have not held back my lips,
O Lord, You know.
10 (Ps 42:3; Joel 2:17) I have not hidden Your righteousness
within my heart;
I have declared Your faithfulness and Your salvation;
I have not concealed Your lovingkindness and Your truth
from the great congregation.
11 (Ps 42:5; 43:5) Do not withhold Your compassion from me, O Lord;
may Your lovingkindness and Your truth always guard me.
To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.
1 I waited patiently for the LORD;
And he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay,
And set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even
praise unto our God:
Many shall see it, and fear,
And shall trust in the LORD.
...
9 I have preached righteousness in the great congregation:
Lo, I have not refrained my lips, O LORD, thou knowest.
10 I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart;
I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation:
I have not concealed thy lovingkindness,
And thy truth from the great congregation.
11 Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O LORD:
Let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me.

30 days of prayer for the Muslim World 24 April to 23 May 2020
Under the Keep Praying page
When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.
For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.
You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"
Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you
know, and Muslims around the world:
- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.
Acts 2:12-17 : 17 12 They were all amazed and perplexed, saying to each other,
"What does this mean?"
13 (1Co 14:23) Others mocking said, "These men are full of new wine."
Peter's Speech at Pentecost
14 (Ac 1:26) But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice
and said to them, "Men of Judea and all you who dwell in Jerusalem,
let this be known to you, and listen to my words.
15 For these are not drunk, as you suppose,
since it is the third hour of the day.
16 But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:
17 (Isa 44:3; Ac 10:45) 'In the last days it shall be,' says God,
'that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your young men shall see visions,
and your old men shall dream dreams.'
- Pray for Christian workers an organisations focused on seeing effective
discipleship movements among Muslim people.
- Ask the Holy Spirit to continue to inspire you to have god's heart for
Muslims, to see them as He does, and to be the light that then to Jesus.
Matthew 5:14-15 : 14 "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a
hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do men light a candle and put it under
a basket, but on a candlestick. And it gives light to all who are in the
house."

[12] And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates;
and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east
might be prepared.
(Looks like nuclear fallout on a huge scale)
6 (Ps 137:8; Jer 50:15) Render to her as she has rendered to you,
and repay her double for her deeds;
in the cup which she has mixed, mix a double portion for her.
7 (Zep 2:15) To the extent that she glorified herself and lived luxuriously,
so give her torment and sorrow;
for in her heart she says,
'I sit as a queen, and am no widow,
and will see no sorrow.'(Isa 47:7-8.)
12 (Rev 17:4) the merchandise of gold, silver, precious stones and pearls,
fine linen, purple, silk and scarlet, all kinds of scented wood,
all artifacts of ivory, all merchandise of costly wood, bronze, iron,
and marble;
[22] And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters,
shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft
he be, shall be found any more in thee; and the sound of a millstone shall
be heard no more at all in thee;
[12] For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in
simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of
God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to
you-ward.
[13] For we write none other things unto you, than what ye read or
acknowledge; and I trust ye shall acknowledge even to the end;
[14] As also ye have acknowledged us in part, that we are your rejoicing,
even as ye also are ours in the day of the Lord Jesus.
[15] And in this confidence I was minded to come unto you before, that ye
might have a second benefit;

Dear God, help me to serve others with
such a clear conscience that my love for them is evident.

Many people are not so fortunate. Some fathers are stern and harsh;
others absent or uncaring, some even abusive.
5 And he sought God in the days of Zechariah,
who had understanding in the visions of God: and as long
as he sought the LORD, God made him to prosper.

out of the miry clay,
and set my feet on a rock,
and established my steps.

I have declared Your faithfulness and Your salvation;
I have not concealed Your lovingkindness and Your truth

And he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay,
And set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.

praise unto our God:
Many shall see it, and fear,
And shall trust in the LORD.

9 I have preached righteousness in the great congregation:
Lo, I have not refrained my lips, O LORD, thou knowest.
10 I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart;
I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation:
I have not concealed thy lovingkindness,

17 (Isa 44:3; Ac 10:45) 'In the last days it shall be,' says God,
'that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your young men shall see visions,
and your old men shall dream dreams.'
15 Neither do men light a candle and put it under

house."
