PSALMS 104



1 Bless the Lord, O my soul!

O Lord my God, You are very great!

You are clothed with honor and majesty,

2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) covering Yourself with light as a garment,

who stretches out the heavens like a tent curtain,

3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) who lays the upper beams

of His chambers on the waters above,

who makes the clouds His chariot,

who rides upon the wings of the wind,

4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) who makes His angels as winds,

His ministers a flaming fire.

5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) You laid the earth on its foundations,

so that it should never be moved.

6 (2Sa 17:22; Dt 3:8-9) You covered it with the deep as a garment;

the waters stood above the mountains.

7 (Ps 88:7; Jnh 2:3) At Your rebuke they fled;

at the sound of Your thunder they departed away.

8 (Job 35:10; Ps 63:6 ) The mountains rose up;

the valleys went down

to the place that You appointed them.

9 (Ps 38:6; 18:2) You set a boundary that they may not pass over,

that they may not again cover the earth.

10 (Ps 42:3; Joel 2:17) You send the springs to gush forth in the valleys,

which flow between the hills.

11 (Ps 42:5; 43:5) They give drink to every animal of the field;

the wild donkeys quench their thirst.

12 By them the birds of the heavens have their habitation;

they sing among the branches.

13 You water the mountains from Your lofty chamber;

the earth is satisfied with the fruit of Your works.

14 You cause the grass to grow for the cattle

and plants for the cultivation of man,

that he may bring forth food from the earth

15 and wine that makes glad the heart of man,

and oil that makes shine his face,

and bread that strengthens his heart.

16 The trees of the Lord are well watered,

the cedars of Lebanon that He has planted,

17 where the birds make their nests,

where the stork has its home in the fir trees.

18 The high mountains are for the wild goats,

and the rocks a refuge for the badgers.

19 He set the moon to mark the appointed seasons;

the sun knows its time for going down.

20 You make darkness, and it is night,

when all the animals of the forest go forth.

21 The young lions roar after their prey

and seek their food from God.

22 When the sun arises, they gather themselves together

and lay down in their dens.

23 Man goes forth to his work

and to his labor until the evening.

24 O Lord, how manifold are Your works!

With wisdom You have made them all;

the earth is full of Your creatures-

25 so is this great and wide sea,

which is full of innumerable creatures,

living animals both small and great.

26 There go the ships,

and there is Leviathan, which You have made to play in it.

27 These all wait upon You,

that You may give them their food in due season.

28 When You give it to them,

they gather it;

when You open Your hand,

they are filled with good food.

29 When You hide Your face,

they are troubled;

You take away their breath,

and they die and return to their dust.

30 When You send forth Your Spirit,

they are created,

and You renew the surface of the ground.

31 May the glory of the Lord endure forever;

may the Lord rejoice in His works.

32 He looks on the earth, and it trembles;

He touches the mountains, and they smoke.

33 I will sing unto the Lord as long as I live;

I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.

34 May my meditation be sweet to Him,

for I will be glad in the Lord.

35 Let sinners be consumed from the earth,

and let the wicked be no more.

[2] Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out

the heavens like a curtain:

[3] Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters: who maketh the

clouds his chariot: who walketh upon the wings of the wind:

[4] Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire:

[5] Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for

ever.

[6] Thou coveredst it with the deep as with a garment: the waters stood

above the mountains.

[7] At thy rebuke they fled; at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away.

[8] They go up by the mountains; they go down by the valleys unto the place

which thou hast founded for them.

[9] Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over; that they turn not

again to cover the earth.

[10] He sendeth the springs into the valleys, which run among the hills.

[11] They give drink to every beast of the field: the wild asses quench

their thirst.

[12] By them shall the fowls of the heaven have their habitation, which sing

among the branches.

[13] He watereth the hills from his chambers: the earth is satisfied with

the fruit of thy works.

[14] He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service

of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth;

[15] And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to

shine, and bread which strengtheneth man's heart.

[22] The sun ariseth, they gather themselves together, and lay them down in

their dens.

[23] Man goeth forth unto his work and to his labour until the evening.

[24] O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all:

the earth is full of thy riches.

[25] So is this great and wide sea, wherein are things creeping innumerable,

both small and great beasts.

[26] There go the ships: there is that leviathan, whom thou hast made to

play therein.

[27] These wait all upon thee; that thou mayest give them their meat in due

season.

[28] That thou givest them they gather: thou openest thine hand, they are

filled with good.

[29] Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled: thou takest away their breath,

they die, and return to their dust.

[31] The glory of the LORD shall endure for ever: the LORD shall rejoice in

Psalms 121

A Song of Ascents.

1 I will lift up my eyes to the hills,

from where does my help come?

2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) My help comes from the Lord,

who made heaven and earth.

3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) He will not let your foot slip;

He who keeps you will not slumber.

4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) Behold, He who guards Israel

shall neither slumber nor sleep.

5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) The Lord is your guardian;

the Lord is your shade at your right hand.

6 (2Sa 17:22; Dt 3:8-9) The sun shall not harm you during the day,

nor the moon during the night.

7 (Ps 88:7; Jnh 2:3) The Lord shall protect you from all evil;

He shall preserve your soul.

8 (Job 35:10; Ps 63:6) The Lord shall preserve your going out

and your coming in from now and for evermore.



Psalm 121

A Song of degrees.

[1] I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills,

From whence cometh my help.

[2] My help cometh from the LORD,

Which made heaven and earth.

[3] He will not suffer thy foot to be moved:

He that keepeth thee will not slumber.

[4] Behold, he that keepeth Israel

Shall neither slumber nor sleep.

[5] The LORD is thy keeper:

The LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.

[6] The sun shall not smite thee by day,

Nor the moon by night.

[7] The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil:

He shall preserve thy soul.

[8] The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in

From this time forth, and even for evermore.



Trina received a free ticket to a sold-out event and tucked it into her Bible.

Later, her son saw her frantically searching through the pantry. When she

explained that she'd lost her Bible, he asked why she was looking in the food

cupboard. "Because I've looked everywhere else, and the event starts in thirty

minutes," she said. "I don't want to miss one moment." Her son chuckled.

"Breathe, Mom," he said. "I think you're suffering from FOMO, the fear of

missing out." She laughed. As her son joined the search, Trina's husband

entered. "You left this in the car," he said, holding up the Bible.



While it's not wrong to enjoy unexpected blessings, big breaks, or

once-in-a-lifetime opportunities, a desire for enjoyment can easily turn into

a fear of missing out. We can even be tempted to think God holds out on us or

loses sight of us. However, the "Maker of heaven and earth" (Psalm 121:2) is

our ever-watchful and never-sleeping provider and protector (vv. 3-7). So we

don't have to fret over detours, delays, or even missed opportunities. God

will watch over our "coming and going both now and forevermore" (v. .



During times of affliction, seasons of abundance, and in every mundane moment

God plans for us in-between, we’re always in His line of sight. We won't miss

out on anything God has planned for us to experience.
