Day 130 of my 6th bible study journey part 3

2) Our Daily Bread for 10 May 2026 titled

Jesus Revealed in Us
by Amy Boucher Pye

2 Corinthians 4:7-12

7 (2Co 5:1; La 4:2) But we have this treasure in earthen vessels,

the excellency of the power being from God and not from ourselves.

8 (2Co 7:5) We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed;

we are perplexed, but not in despair;

9 (Heb 13:5) persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;

10 (Ro 6:5; 2Co 1:5) and always carrying around in the body the death

of the Lord Jesus, that also the life of Jesus might be expressed

in our bodies.

11 (Ro 8:36) For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus' sake,

that also the life of Jesus might be manifested in our mortal flesh.

12 (2Co 13:9) So then, death works in us, but life in you.

[7] But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the

power may be of God, and not of us.

[8] We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but

not in despair;

[9] Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;

[10] Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the

life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.

[11] For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that

the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.

[12] So then death worketh in us, but life in you.

After Joni Eareckson Tada's mother died, Joni thought about how our bodies are

like "jars of clay" that hold the treasure of Christ's presence. She mused

about a modern equivalent to describe our earthly bodies—a cardboard box. She

knew her mother's "box," with its worn-out corners and bends, was now empty.

But, she reflected, it was a box they'd treasured,

"the vessel in which the treasure of the Spirit of Christ had dwelt."

As Joni notes, those who follow Jesus let Him shine through them, often in

spectacular ways through the creases and holes as their boxes collapse with

age. In this she followed Paul's words about the treasure appearing in

"jars of clay" because it would reveal that "this all-surpassing power is

from God and not from us" (2 Corinthians 4:7). Although Paul was "hard

pressed" and "perplexed" with what he suffered, he was not "crushed"

or "destroyed" (vv. 8-9). Through his sufferings in his body, he knew

that Christ's life would be revealed.

How's your cardboard "box"? You might feel the creases grow larger as you

groan under the weight of pain or disease. Know, however, that Jesus is being

revealed in your body (v. 10). As you submit to Him, He'll shine His light

through you, so that those who are in darkness may receive His love and His life.

Reflect & Pray

How have you seen Jesus revealed in others?

Why do you think God encloses His presence in these "jars of clay"?

Spirit of the living God, please live in me,

that I might shine with Your love and presence.

Week 3 - Saved Now and Forever - Day 1 - Bought Back

Eph 1:7

7 (Ro 3:24; Ac 2:38; 20:28) In Him we have redemption through His blood

and the forgiveness of sins according to the riches of His grace

[7] In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins,

according to the riches of his grace;

In the opening scenes of The Glenn Miller Story, Glenn Miller, then a

struggling musician trying to find an audience for his music, enters

a pawn shop. He has hocked his trombone for rent money, and has come

to redeem it. Paying the pawn broker the money, he buys back his own

instrument and leaves the shop, indicating that he will probably

be back again.

In Eph 1:7. Paul says that in Christ "we have redemption through

His blood and the forgiveness of sin according to the riches of His grace."

We belonged to God from the beginning; he made us and stamped

his image upon us. But through sin we were lost, pawned to the

world's system and the Enemy of our souls.

But God redeemed us; he "bought us back" with the most valuable

currency in the universe - the blood of his own Son, Jesus Christ.

He did not resent the bargain, or question whether we were worth

such a price. He freely gave Jesus in trade to ransom the souls

of the people he created and loved.

Sometimes in Christian circles we get so caught up in religious

jargon that we forget what redemption really means. Gog did not have

to "get us out of hock." He was not compelled to buy us back when we

had sold ourselves to sin. But because of his love, and with no

deserving on our part, he chose to pay an enormous price to set us free.

We are redeemed, bought back, by the One who owned us in the first place.

Application

a) In what ways have I been "in hock" to sin in my life?

b) What does it mean, in practical terms, that God "redeemed" me

from that sin?

4) From Prosperity Promises - Kenneth Copeland

3 John 2

2 Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be

in good health, even as your soul is well.

2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health,

even as thy soul prospereth.

5) From a Book called God's Promises for you:

God's Inexhaustible Strength

Is 40:27-31

27 Why do you say, O Jacob,

and assert, O Israel,

"My way is hidden from the Lord,

and my justice escapes the notice of my God"?

28 (Ps 147:5; Ge 21:33; Isa 57:15) Have you not known?

Have you not heard,

that the everlasting God, the Lord,

the Creator of the ends of the earth,

does not faint, nor is He weary?

His understanding is inscrutable.

29 (Isa 41:10) He gives power to the faint,

and to those who have no might He increases strength.

30 (Isa 9:17) Even the youths shall faint and be weary,

and the young men shall utterly fall,

31 (2Co 4:16; Ps 103:5; Ex 19:4) but those who wait upon the Lord

shall renew their strength;

they shall mount up with wings as eagles,

they shall run and not be weary,

and they shall walk and not faint.

27 Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, My way is hid

from the LORD, and my judgment is passed over from my God?

28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God,

the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not,

neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.

29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might

he increaseth strength.

30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall

utterly fall:

31 but they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall

mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary;

and they shall walk, and not faint.

Remember God's promises when You pray

The Lord's prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

9 "Therefore pray in this manner:

Our Father who is in heaven,

hallowed be Your name.

10 (Mt 3:2; 4:17) Your kingdom come;

Your will be done

on earth, as it is in heaven.

11 (Pr 30:8; Isa 33:16) Give us this day our daily bread.

12 (Ex 34:7; Ps 32:1) And forgive us our debts,

as we forgive our debtors.

13 (1Co 10:13; Jn 17:15) And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."

9 After this manner therefore pray ye:

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

11 Give us this day our daily bread.

12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
