and the mouth of the wicked devours iniquity.

29 (Pr 26:3; 10:13 )Judgments are prepared for scorners,

Proverbs 19

1 Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity,

Than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.

2 Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good;

And he that hasteth with his feet sinneth.

3 The foolishness of man perverteth his way:

And his heart fretteth against the LORD.

4 Wealth maketh many friends;

But the poor is separated from his neighbour.

5 A false witness shall not be unpunished,

And he that speaketh lies shall not escape.

6 Many will intreat the favour of the prince:

And every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts.

7 All the brethren of the poor do hate him:

How much more do his friends go far from him?

He pursueth them with words, yet they are wanting to him.

8 He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul:

He that keepeth understanding shall find good.

9 A false witness shall not be unpunished,

And he that speaketh lies shall perish.

10 Delight is not seemly for a fool;

Much less for a servant to have rule over princes.

11 The discretion of a man deferreth his anger;

And it is his glory to pass over a transgression.

12 The king's wrath is as the roaring of a lion;

But his favour is as dew upon the grass.

13 A foolish son is the calamity of his father:

And the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.

14 House and riches are the inheritance of fathers:

And a prudent wife is from the LORD.

15 Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep;

And an idle soul shall suffer hunger.

16 He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul;

But he that despiseth his ways shall die.

17 He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD;

And that which he hath given will he pay him again.

18 Chasten thy son while there is hope,

And let not thy soul spare for his crying.

19 A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment:

For if thou deliver him, yet thou must do it again.

20 Hear counsel, and receive instruction,

That thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.

21 There are many devices in a man's heart;

Nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.

22 The desire of a man is his kindness:

And a poor man is better than a liar.

23 The fear of the LORD tendeth to life:

And he that hath it shall abide satisfied;

He shall not be visited with evil.

24 A slothful man hideth his hand in his bosom,

And will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.

25 Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware:

And reprove one that hath understanding, and he will understand knowledge.

26 He that wasteth his father, and chaseth away his mother,

Is a son that causeth shame, and bringeth reproach.

27 Cease, my son, to hear the instruction

That causeth to err from the words of knowledge.

28 An ungodly witness scorneth judgment:

And the mouth of the wicked devoureth iniquity.

29 Judgments are prepared for scorners,

And stripes for the back of fools.

but every fool will be meddling.

4 (Pr 19:15; 10:4) The sluggard will not plow because of the cold;

open your eyes, and you will be satisfied with bread.

14 "It is bad, it is bad," says the buyer;

but when he has gone his way, then he boasts.

but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.

16 (Pr 27:13) Take the garment of him who is a pledge for a stranger,

but afterwards his mouth will be filled with gravel.

18 (Pr 24:6; 15:22) Every purpose is established by counsel,

and with good advice wage war.

19 (Pr 11:13; Ro 16:18) He who goes about as a talebearer reveals secrets;

therefore do not meddle with him who flatters with his lips.

20 (Ex 21:17; Pr 30:11) Whoever curses his father or his mother,

his lamp will be put out in obscure darkness.

21 An inheritance may be gained hastily at the beginning,

but the end of it will not be blessed.

22 (Pr 24:29; 1Pe 3:9) Do not say, "I will recompense evil";

but wait on the Lord, and He will save you.

23 (Pr 20:10) Diverse weights are an abomination to the Lord,

and a false balance is not good.

24 (Pr 16:9; Jer 10:23) Man's goings are of the Lord;

how can a man then understand his own way?

25 It is a snare to the man who dedicates rashly that which is holy,

and after the vows to make inquiry.

26 (Pr 20:8) A wise king sifts out the wicked,

and drives the threshing wheel over them.

27 (1Co 2:11) The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord,

searching all the inward parts of the heart.

28 (Pr 29:14; 16:12) Mercy and truth preserve the king,

and his throne is upheld by mercy.

29 (Pr 16:31 The glory of young men is their strength,

and the beauty of old men is the gray head.

30 (Pr 22:15 ) The blows of a wound cleanse away evil,

so do stripes the inward parts of the heart.

Proverbs 20

1 Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging:

And whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.

2 The fear of a king is as the roaring of a lion:

Whoso provoketh him to anger sinneth against his own soul.

3 It is an honour for a man to cease from strife:

But every fool will be meddling.

4 The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold;

Therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing.

5 Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water;

But a man of understanding will draw it out.

6 Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness:

But a faithful man who can find?

7 The just man walketh in his integrity:

His children are blessed after him.

8 A king that sitteth in the throne of judgment

Scattereth away all evil with his eyes.

9 Who can say, I have made my heart clean,

I am pure from my sin?

10 Divers weights, and divers measures,

Both of them are alike abomination to the LORD.

11 Even a child is known by his doings,

Whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.

12 The hearing ear, and the seeing eye,

The LORD hath made even both of them.

13 Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty;

Open thine eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread.

14 It is naught, it is naught, saith the buyer:

But when he is gone his way, then he boasteth.

15 There is gold, and a multitude of rubies:

But the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.

16 Take his garment that is surety for a stranger:

And take a pledge of him for a strange woman.

17 Bread of deceit is sweet to a man;

But afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel.

18 Every purpose is established by counsel:

And with good advice make war.

But the end thereof shall not be blessed.

22 Say not thou, I will recompense evil;

But wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee.

23 Divers weights are an abomination unto the LORD;

And a false balance is not good.

24 Man's goings are of the LORD;

How can a man then understand his own way?

25 It is a snare to the man who devoureth that which is holy,

And after vows to make enquiry.

26 A wise king scattereth the wicked,

And bringeth the wheel over them.

27 The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD,

Searching all the inward parts of the belly.

28 Mercy and truth preserve the king:

And his throne is upholden by mercy.

29 The glory of young men is their strength:

And the beauty of old men is the grey head.

30 The blueness of a wound cleanseth away evil:

So do stripes the inward parts of the belly.

2) Our Daily Bread for 8 June 2024 titled House Gods

Genesis 35:1-5

1 Then God said to Jacob,"Arise, go up to Bethel, dwell there,

and there make an altar to God, who appeared to you when you

fled from the face of Esau your brother."

2 So Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him,

"Put away the foreign gods that are among you. Purify yourselves

and change your clothes.

3 Let us arise and go up to Bethel,

and there I will make an altar to God, who answered me

in the day of my distress and has been with me wherever I have gone."

4 So they gave Jacob all the foreign gods which were in their possession

and all their earrings which were in their ears, and Jacob hid them

under the oak which was near Shechem.

5 As they traveled, the terror of God

was on the cities that were around them, and they did not pursue

the sons of Jacob.

[1] And God said unto Jacob, Arise, go up to Bethel, and dwell there: and

make there an altar unto God, that appeared unto thee when thou fleddest

from the face of Esau thy brother.

[2] Then Jacob said unto his household, and to all that were with him, Put

away the strange gods that are among you, and be clean, and change your

garments:

[3] And let us arise, and go up to Bethel; and I will make there an altar

unto God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the

way which I went.

[4] And they gave unto Jacob all the strange gods which were in their hand,

and all their earrings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under

the oak which was by Shechem.

[5] And they journeyed: and the terror of God was upon the cities that were

round about them, and they did not pursue after the sons of Jacob.

Joshua 24:23

23 (Jos 24:14) "Now then," he said, "put away the foreign gods

in your midst, and stretch out your hearts to the Lord God of Israel!"

[23] Now therefore put away, said he, the strange gods which are among you,

and incline your heart unto the LORD God of Israel.

The men in the Bible study group were nearly eighty years old, so I was

surprised to learn they struggled with lust. A battle that had begun in their

youth lingered still. Each day they pledged to follow Jesus in this area

and asked forgiveness for the moments they failed.

It may surprise us that godly men still fight against base temptations

at a late stage in life, but maybe it shouldn't. An idol is anything

that threatens to take the place of God in our lives,

and such things can show up long after we assume they're gone.

In the Bible, Jacob had been rescued from his uncle Laban and his brother

Esau. He was returning to Bethel to worship God and celebrate His many

blessings, yet his family still kept foreign gods that Jacob had

to bury (Genesis 35:2-4). At the end of the book of Joshua,

after Israel had defeated their enemies and settled in Canaan,

Joshua still had to urge them to

"Now therefore put away, said he, the strange gods which are among you,

and incline your heart unto the LORD God of Israel." (Joshua 24:23).

And King David's wife Michal apparently kept idols, for she put one

in his bed to deceive the soldiers who came to kill him (1 Samuel 19:11-16).

Idols are more common than we think, and God is more patient than we deserve.

Temptations to turn to them will come, but God's forgiveness is greater.

May we be set apart for Jesus-turning from our sins and finding forgiveness

in Him.

Reflect & Pray

What sin are you most tempted by?

What steps might you take to destroy this idol?

Father, I confess my sin,

and I gratefully receive Your forgiveness through Jesus.

Words in Season Scripture Memory Tools

Week 6 Showing Grace to Others - Day 7 Our God reigns!

Is 52:7

7 How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news,

who proclaims peace, who brings good news of happiness,

who proclaims salvation, who says to Zion, "Your God reigns!"

7 How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good

tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that

publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!

A messenger has a single duty: to carry information. During World War II, many

parents dreaded the arrival of the Western Union messenger, believing that

delivery of a telegram meant that their son has been wounded or killed.

Isaiah 52:7, however, indicates that a messenger's word is not always

unwelcome. "How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring

good news ..." the prophet says. The "Good news"? Peace , salvation,

and the resultant message: "Your God reigns!"

Our God reigns - in forgiveness, in reconciliation, bringing peace and freedom

and joy. Our God reigns, controlling our lives with a loving hand, ordering

our experiences for our good, and his glory. Our God reigns in relationships,

in professional circumstances, in families, in churches. The good news is

proclaimed: Life is not unmanageable. Our God Reigns!

When we know that God reigns in our lives, we can relax, let go of the reins

of control, and live in peace. We can forgive those who have hurt us, knowing

that God will reveal to them what they need to know. We can live

with good times and bad, recognising that God uses every circumstance

of our lives to conform us to the image of his Son. We can rejoice in his

grace, free from the compulsion to earn his love and acceptance, and

we can live in the peace that comes only through his lordship in our lives.

Our God reigns - that is , indeed "Good news".

Application

a) Have I ever felt that life was "out of control"? Why?

b) What does it mean in practical terms to know that "Our God reigns"?

4) Prosperity verses from Kenneth Copeland

Deut 8:18

18 But you must remember the Lord your God,

for it is He who gives you the ability to get wealth,

so that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers,

as it is today.

18 But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth

thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant

which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.

5) From a Book called God's Promises for you:

God's Guiding Presence

Ps 119:105-112

Nun

105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

106 I have sworn, and I will perform it,

that I will keep Your righteous judgments.

107 I am greatly afflicted;

revive me, O Lord, according to Your word.

108 Accept the freewill offerings of my praise, O Lord,

and teach me Your judgments.

109 My soul is continually in my hand,

yet I do not forget Your law.

110 The wicked have laid a trap for me,

yet I do not depart from Your precepts.

111 Your testimonies are my inheritance forever,

for they are the rejoicing of my heart.

112 I have inclined my heart to perform Your statutes always,

even unto the end.

Nun

105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet,

And a light unto my path.

106 I have sworn, and I will perform it,

That I will keep thy righteous judgments.

107 I am afflicted very much:

Quicken me, O LORD, according unto thy word.

108 Accept, I beseech thee, the freewill offerings of my mouth, O LORD,

And teach me thy judgments.

109 My soul is continually in my hand:

Yet do I not forget thy law.

110 The wicked have laid a snare for me:

Yet I erred not from thy precepts.

111 Thy testimonies have I taken as an heritage for ever:

For they are the rejoicing of my heart.

112 I have inclined mine heart to perform thy statutes

Alway, even unto the end.

The Lord's prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

9 "Therefore pray in this manner:

Our Father who is in heaven,

hallowed be Your name.

10 (Mt 3:2; 4:17) Your kingdom come;

Your will be done

on earth, as it is in heaven.

11 (Pr 30:8; Isa 33:16) Give us this day our daily bread.

12 (Ex 34:7; Ps 32:1) And forgive us our debts,

as we forgive our debtors.

13 (1Co 10:13; Jn 17:15) And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."

9 After this manner therefore pray ye:

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

11 Give us this day our daily bread.

Quick facts on Muslims in Quebec

Quebec 2015 population 8214 000

est Muslim Population 418946

CNMM Networks: Montreal

There is a growing Muslim population in Quebec City and a smattering

of Muslims scattered around the rest of the province, yet the vast majority

of Muslims live in the greater Montreal area. n fact, 23% of Canada's Muslim

population live in Quebec. Why is that? It is largely because Francophone

African Muslims are attracted to La Belle Provence.

And here's an interesting, perhaps even shocking fact: There are more

Muslims in Montreal than there are evangelical Christians.

This is one demographic factor creates a challenging environment for churches

and believers here: The size of the available 'workforce' is small

by comparison to begin with. Believers are already is a host culture that

is often either indifferent to religion or resistant to it. And now

this 'new' religious community of Muslims - many of whom do not visibly

or socially conform to Quebec society - are a growing population. It might br

easy for Christians to feel overwhelm by this cultural double-whammy,

yet God has always worked miracles through the small, the few.

Agree in prayer for :

- The people of Quebec, Muslim or otherwise, to be open to the Gospel

- for Muslims who are encountering believers and responding

-for a new group of Muslim background believers who are meeting

together for worship!

- For pastors and believers to be full of passion, faith and vision for

reaching Muslims in Quebec.

30 days of prayer for the Muslim World 24 April to 23 May 2020

Under the Keep Praying page

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month

and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days

of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that

usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,

of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be

decorated and festivals will be held.

For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the

distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of

Islam.

You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",

which means Blessed Eid!"

Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you

know, and Muslims around the world:

- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions

in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about

unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such

movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three

decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim

relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.

Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,

"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;

your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.

18 Even on My menservants and maidservants

I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.

19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below:

blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,

and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes.

21 And whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."[a]

Footnotes

Acts 2:21 Joel 2:28-32.

- Pray for Christian workers an organisations focused on seeing effective

discipleship movements among Muslim people.

- Ask the Holy Spirit to continue to inspire you to have god's heart for

Muslims, to see them as He does, and to be the light that then to Jesus.

Matthew 5:14-15 : 14 "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a

hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do men light a candle and put it under

a basket, but on a candlestick. And it gives light to all who are in the

house."

Ideas for prayer

- Pray for opportunities to show the love of Christ to Muslims around you

- Pray for, and offer generous hospitality to, those you know who are serving

Christ among Muslim people -

Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."

- When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims

throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days!

And

Thank you for praying through the

5 Days of Prayer for Sikhs.

"My name is Kam. I'm 29 years of age, and I grew up Sikh. As a teenager,

I struggled with depression, brokenness, and addiction to

cannabis. I didn't know how to stop or how to get help.

Then a friend invited me to church. As I spent time with Christians

and heard the message of the Gospel, I experienced the

love of Jesus Christ, and it was like nothing I'd known before.

One night I had a dream where I saw Him - a figure surrounded by

light who I knew was Jesus, the light of the world.

As I began to understand the gospel message, I encountered a reassuring and

confident solution to the problem of sin. I knew that I needed a solution

to my sin problem, and I gave my life to Christ.

Slowly, God began to heal my broken heart and my addiction.

Nine years have passed, and I am a devoted husband and a father

to two beautiful boys. I grow deeper in love with Jesus each day.

I ask you to continue praying with me, and others around the world, for Sikhs.

God is the only one who can draw people to Himself. He works in and through

the prayers of His people. I want Sikhs to know the freedom

and healing that is only available through Jesus Christ."

13 (Ro 14:17; 12:12) Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy

and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope,

through the power of the Holy Spirit.

[13] Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that

ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

Doctor Who: The Sea Devils - A Classic Underwater Adventure with Silurians and Intrigue

Based on the information from the transcript of the website [invalid URL doctor who sea devils ON Chakoteya.net], here's a review of Doctor Who: The Sea Devils:

Story

The Doctor (Third Doctor) and companion Jo Grant find themselves caught in a confrontation between two undersea races: the Silurians, reptilian humanoids previously encountered by the Doctor, and the Sea Devils, amphibian humanoids intent on dominating the Earth. The Doctor must work to prevent war between these undersea races and protect the surface world from their conflict.

Review (Limited Scope):

Classic Who's Recurring Monsters: This serial features the return of the Silurians and introduces the Sea Devils, providing a unique undersea adventure for fans of classic Doctor Who monsters.

Environmental Allegory: The conflict between the Silurians and the Sea Devils can be interpreted as an allegory for war and competition over resources.

Limited Character Development (Based on Summary): The transcript doesn't provide details about the development of the Doctor or Jo Grant in this serial.

Possible Weaknesses (Considering Limited Information):

Classic Who's Production Values: Special effects in classic Doctor Who were limited by the era's technology. The depiction of the undersea setting and the creatures might not be as realistic by modern standards.

Slow Pacing: Classic Doctor Who sometimes featured a slower narrative pace compared to modern iterations.

Overall Thoughts (Limited Scope):

"The Sea Devils" presents a unique undersea adventure with classic Doctor Who monsters and an environmental allegory. However, the potential for dated production values, slower pacing, and limited character development are considerations.

Would I Recommend Watching It?

For Fans of Classic Doctor Who: 7/10 (Recommended for fans of the Third Doctor era who enjoy stories with classic monsters and underwater settings. Be prepared for the limitations of classic Who)

For Fans of Modern Doctor Who: 5/10 (The presence of classic monsters and the environmental message might hold some interest, but the potential for dated effects, slower pace, and less character focus could be disadvantages)

Here are some additional points to consider that might help you decide:

If possible, try to find reviews that discuss the visual representation of the underwater setting and the monsters in this serial. This can help you gauge how appealing it might be for you.

Consider watching other Third Doctor stories featuring the Silurians like "Doctor Who and the Silurians" to learn more about these creatures before diving into "The Sea Devils".

I hope this helps! While "The Sea Devils" has elements that could be interesting for classic Doctor Who fans, the production limitations of classic Who might be a factor to consider, especially for viewers more accustomed to the modern series.

And he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.

Proverbs 18

1 (Jude 1:19) He who separates himself seeks his own desire;

he seeks and quarrels against all wisdom.

2 A fool has no delight in understanding,

but in expressing his own heart.

3 When the wicked comes, then comes also contempt,

and with dishonor reproach.

4 (Pr 20:5) The words of a man's mouth are as deep waters,

and the wellspring of wisdom as a flowing brook.

5 (Lev 19:15; Pr 24:23) It is not good to favor the wicked,

or to turn aside the righteous in judgment.

6 A fool's lips enter into contention,

and his mouth calls for flogging.

7 (Pr 10:14; 12:13) A fool's mouth is his destruction,

and his lips are the snare of his soul.

8 (Pr 16:28) The words of a talebearer are as wounds,

and they go down into the innermost parts of the body.

9 (Pr 28:24; 10:4) He also who is slothful in his work

is brother to him who is a great waster.

10 (2Sa 22:3; Ps 18:2) The name of the Lord is a strong tower;

the righteous run into it and are safe.

11 (Pr 10:15) The rich man's wealth is his strong city,

and as a high wall in his own conceit.

12 (Pr 11:2; 15:33) Before destruction the heart of man is haughty,

and before honor is humility.

13 (Jn 7:51) He who answers a matter before he hearsit,

it is folly and shame to him.

14 (Pr 17:22; 15:13) The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity,

but a wounded spirit who can bear?

15 (Pr 15:14) The heart of the prudent gets knowledge,

and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.

16 (Ge 32:20; 1Sa 25:27) A man's gift makes room for him,

and brings him before great men.

17 He who is first in his own cause seems just,

but his neighbor comes and searches him.

18 (Pr 16:33) The lot causes contentions to cease,

and keeps the mighty ones apart.

19 A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city,

and their contentions are like the bars of a castle.

20 A man's stomach will be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth;

and with the increase of his lips will he be filled.

21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue,

and those who love it will eat its fruit.

22 (Pr 19:14; 12:4; 8:35) Whoever finds a wife finds a good thing,

and obtains favor of the Lord.

23 (Jas 2:3) The poor man uses entreaties,

but the rich man answers roughly.

24 (Pr 17:17) A man who has friends must show himself friendly,

and there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

Joy in Giving

Acts 20:17-24,34-35

17 (Ac 11:30; 14:23) From Miletus he sent to Ephesus for the elders

of the church.

18 (Ac 18:19; 19:1) When they came to him, he said to them,

"You know how I always lived among you from the first day that

I came to Asia,

19 (Ac 20:3; 20:31) serving the Lord with all humility

and with many tears and trials which befell me through

the plots of the Jews.

20 (Ac 20:27; 20:31) I did not keep from declaring what was beneficial

to you, and teaching you publicly and from house to house,

21 (Ac 2:38; 11:18; 20:24) testifying to both Jews and Greeks

of repentance toward God and of faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

22 "Now, compelled by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing

what shall befall me there,

23 (Ac 9:16; 21:4) except that the Holy Spirit testifies to me in every

city that imprisonment and afflictions await me.

24 (Ac 21:13; 2Co 4:1) But none of these things deter me. Nor do I count

my life of value to myself, so that I may joyfully finish my course

and the ministry which I have received from the Lord Jesus, to testify

to the gospel of the grace of God.

34 (Ac 18:3) Yes, you yourselves know that these hands have provided

for my necessities and for those who were with me.

35 (Pr 19:17; Mt 10:8) In all things I have shown you how, working like

this, you must help the weak, remembering the words of the Lord Jesus,

how He said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.' "

[17] And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called the elders of the

church.

[18] And when they were come to him, he said unto them, Ye know, from the

first day that I came into Asia, after what manner I have been with you at

all seasons,

[19] Serving the Lord with all humility of mind, and with many tears, and

temptations, which befell me by the lying in wait of the Jews:

[20] And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have

shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house,

[21] Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward

God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

[22] And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing

the things that shall befall me there:

[23] Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds

and afflictions abide me.

[24] But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto

myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I

have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

[34] Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my

necessities, and to them that were with me.

[35] I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support

the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is

more blessed to give than to receive.

When Keri's young son was going through yet another surgery related

to muscular dystrophy, she wanted to take her mind off her family's

situation by doing something for someone else. So she rounded up her son's

outgrown but gently used shoes and donated them to a ministry. Her giving

prompted friends and family members and even neighbors to join in,

and soon more than two hundred pairs of shoes were donated!

Although the shoe drive was meant to bless others, Keri feels her family

was blessed more. "The whole experience really lifted our spirits

and helped us to focus outward."

Paul understood how important it was for followers of Jesus to give

generously. On his way to Jerusalem, the apostle Paul stopped in Ephesus.

He knew it would likely be his last visit with the people of the church

he'd founded there. In his farewell address to the church elders,

he reminded them how he'd worked diligently in service to God

(Acts 20:17-20) and encouraged them to do the same. Then

he concluded with Jesus' words:

"It is more blessed to give than to receive." (v. 35).

Jesus wants us to freely and humbly give of ourselves (Luke 6:38).

When we trust Him to guide us, He'll provide opportunities for us to do so.

Like Keri's family, we may be surprised by the joy we experience as a result.

When have you been the beneficiary of someone’s generosity?

Dear Father, please help me to freely

Week 6 Showing Grace to Others - Day 6 Reconciliation

2 Cor 5:18-19

18 All this is from God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ

and has given to us the ministry of reconciliation,

19 that is, that God was

in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their sins

against them, and has entrusted to us the message of reconciliation.

18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus

Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

19 to wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself,

not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us

the word of reconciliation.

When Paul writes in 2 Cor 5:17 that we become a "new creation" in Christ

Jesus, the story does not end there. The verses following give us direction

for tht new life in Christ. "All This", Paul says, referring to the miracle of

new life in Christ, "is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ

and gave us the ministry of reconciliation."

Reconciliation means to bring back together what was once separated. Man was

separated from God by sin, and God took the initiative to reconcile man to

himself. Our "ministry of reconciliation" as Christians is twofold: to draw

others to the Lord and to work for reconciliation between individuals.

Reconciliation is the ultimate goal of forgiveness. God, through his grace ,

extends forgiveness to us when we are still sinners, unrepentant,

undeserving. When we respond, we come into reconciliation with him

and are brought back into oneness. Likewise, when we extend the grace

of forgiveness to another, we are set free by the act of forgiving, but we

hope that the ultimate outcome will be reconciliation.

God shows us the pattern: he is the wronged party, yet he does not wait for

the offender to come to him, hat in hand. He takes a bold initiative, offering

forgiveness freely with out regard to merit. The pattern applies to us;

as the new life in Christ takes hold of us, we must reach out, and reach,

and keep on reaching, breaking down the barriers, taking the risk of

rejection so that we may come to reconciliation.

Application

a) What barriers stand between me and reconciliation with another person?

b) How can I take a risk and reach out to offer forgiveness and

reconciliation to them?

c) What kind of attitude do I need to be a "minister of reconciliation"?

"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;

your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.

Doctor Who: The Curse of Peladon - A Third Doctor Story

with Space Politics and Environmentalism

Based on the information from the transcript of the website

[invalid URL doctor who curse of peladon ON Chakoteya.net],

here's a review of Doctor Who: The Curse of Peladon:

Story

The Doctor (Third Doctor) and companion Jo Grant arrive

on the galactic Federation world of Peladon,

which is embroiled in a political struggle

between a progressive queen and a conservative

councillor who appeals to superstition

to maintain the status quo.

The Doctor uncovers an ancient evil manipulating

events behind the scenes and must find a way

to resolve the conflict and defeat the threat.

Review (Limited Scope):

Political Intrigue: The serial incorporates elements

of political intrigue and social commentary,

exploring themes of environmentalism and progress vs. tradition.

Unique World-Building: The story introduces the world of Peladon

and its culture, adding variety to the Doctor Who universe.

Limited Character Development (Based on Summary): The transcript

doesn't provide details about the development of the Doctor

or Jo Grant in this serial.

Possible Weaknesses (Considering Limited Information):

Classic Who's Production Values: Special effects

in classic Doctor Who were limited by the era's technology.

The depiction of the alien world and creatures might not

be as realistic by modern standards.

Slow Pacing: Classic Doctor Who sometimes featured

a slower narrative pace compared to modern iterations.

Overall Thoughts (Limited Scope):

"The Curse of Peladon" presents a political intrigue

story with social commentary on a unique alien world.

However, the potential for dated production values,

slower pacing, and limited character development

are considerations.

Would I Recommend Watching It?

For Fans of Classic Doctor Who: 7/10

(Recommended for fans of the Third Doctor era

who enjoy stories with political themes and world-building.

Be prepared for the limitations of classic Who)

For Fans of Modern Doctor Who: 5/10 (The political intrigue

and world-building might hold some interest, but the potential

for dated effects, slower pace, and less character

focus could be disadvantages)

Here are some additional points to consider that might help you decide:

If possible, try to find reviews that discuss the visual

representation of Peladon and its creatures. This can help

you gauge how appealing it might be for you.

Consider watching other Third Doctor stories with political

themes like "The Green Death" to get a sense of his approach

to such narratives before diving into "The Curse of Peladon".

I hope this helps! While "The Curse of Peladon"

has interesting concepts for classic Doctor Who fans,

the production limitations might be a factor to consider,

especially for viewers more accustomed to the modern series.

but he who perverts his ways will be known.

10 (Ps 35:19; Pr 6:13) He who winks with the eye causes sorrow,

15 (Pr 18:11; Ps 52:7) The rich man's wealth is his strong city;

2) Our Daily Bread for 6 June 2024 Titled

Give Thanks to God

Luke 24:28-35

Dt 5:6-21

28 (Mk 6:48) They drew near the village where they were traveling,

and He seemed to be going farther.

29 But they urged Him, saying, "Stay with us. For it is nearly evening

and the day is far spent." So He went in to stay with them.

30 (Mt 14:19; Lk 24:35) As He sat at supper with them, He took the bread,

blessed it and broke it, and gave it to them.

31 (Lk 24:16; 4:30) Then their eyes were opened, and they recognized Him.

And He vanished out of their sight.

32 (Lk 24:45; Ps 39:3) They said to each other, :Did not our hearts burn

within us while He talked to us on the way and while He opened

the Scriptures to us?"

33 They rose up and returned to Jerusalem at once. And they found

the eleven and those who were with them assembled together,

34 (1Co 15:5) saying, "The Lord has risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon!"

35 Then they reported what had happened on the way, and how He was recognised

by them in the breaking of the bread.

[28] And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they went: and he made as

though he would have gone further.

[29] But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward

evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry with them.

[30] And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and

blessed it, and brake, and gave to them.

[31] And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of

their sight.

[32] And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while

he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?

[33] And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found

the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them,

[34] Saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon.

[35] And they told what things were done in the way, and how he was known of

them in breaking of bread.

My friend hurried from her stressful job at the hospital, wondering what

she would prepare for dinner before her husband returned from his equally

demanding job. She had made chicken on Sunday and served leftovers on Monday.

Then, they had yet another round of chicken-this time baked-on Tuesday.

She found two pieces of fish in the freezer, but she knew the fillets

weren't her husband's favourite. Not finding anything else she could

prepare in just a few minutes, she decided the fish would have to do.

As she placed the dish on the table, she said somewhat apologetically

to her husband who had just arrived home:

"I know this isn't your favourite." Her husband looked up and said,

"Honey, I'm just happy we have food on the table."

His attitude reminds me of the importance of being grateful

and thankful for our daily provisions from God-whatever they are.

Giving thanks for our daily bread, or meals, models Jesus' example.

When He ate with two disciples after His resurrection,

Christ "took bread, gave thanks, [and] broke it" (Luke 24:30).

He thanked His Father as He had earlier when He'd fed the five

thousand with five "loaves and two small fish" (John 6:9).

When we give thanks for our daily meals and for other provisions,

our gratitude reflects Jesus' ways and honours our heavenly Father.

Let's give thanks to God today.

By: Katara Patton

Reflect & Pray

How often do you show your thanks to Jesus? How does it honor Him to do so?

God of all, thank You for my daily bread

and all the other needs You meet for me.

Week 6 Showing Grace to Others - Day 5 When you pray

Mark 11:25

25 And when you stand praying, forgive if you have anything against anyone,

so that your Father who is in heaven may also forgive you your sins.

25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any:

that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

"My prayer don't seem to be very effective," a man told his pastor." I try

to make contact with God, but my prayers seem to hit the ceiling and bounce

back."

The pastor thought for a moment, then gently suggested,

"Is there someone in your life you haven't forgiven?"

"What do you mean?" The man's face flushed; the pastor has obviuosly struck

a nerve. "Well, I guess I've had some struggles with my mother ... and then,

my wife, and I ... ." The hidden truth came to light: the man was bound in

unforgiving relationships with five of the closest people to him.

Forgiveness is an essential element in prayer. For a very good reason,

worship services in liturgical churches place the confession of sin and the

absolution near the beginning of the service, before the reading of God's

Word, prayer, and the sermon. Forgiveness - both the Lord's forgiveness

of us and our forgiveness of others - clears the way for unhindered

communication between God and his people.

When we carry anger and bitterness, or even deeply buried, well-subliminated

unforgiveness, into the presence of God, our prayers will be affected. We can,

however, free the Holy Spirit to work in our lives and the lives of others

through forgiveness. We can choose to forgive in light of God's forgiveness

of us. And when we do, the channels are re-established;

we can pray in power and open ourselves to an awareness of his activity

in our lives.

Application

a) Have my prayers ever been affected by unforgiveness in my life?

b) Is there someone in my life whom I need to forgive,

whether or not I can work toward?

4) From Prosperity Promises - Kenneth Copeland

Deut 30:19-20

19 (Dt 4:26; 30:1) I call heaven and earth to witnesses against you this day,

that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse.

Therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live;

20 (Dt 10:20; Ps 27:1) that you may love the Lord your God,

that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him,

for He is your life and the length of your days;

and that you may dwell in the land that the Lord

swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.

19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you,

that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing:

therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

20 that thou mayest love the LORD thy God,

and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him:

for he is thy life, and the length of thy days:

that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD

sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.

A Psalm of David.

1 Bless the Lord, O my soul,

and all that is within me, bless His holy name.

2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) Bless the Lord, O my soul,

and forget not all His benefits,

3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) who forgives all your iniquities,

who heals all your diseases,

4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) who redeems your life from the pit,

who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,

5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) who satisfies your mouth with good things,

so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.

6 (2Sa 17:22; Dt 3:8-9) The Lord does righteousness

and justice for all who are oppressed.

7 (Ps 88:7; Jnh 2:3) He made known His ways to Moses,

His acts to the people of Israel.

8 (Job 35:10; Ps 63:6) The Lord is merciful and gracious,

slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.

9 (Ps 38:6; 18:2) He will not always accuse,

neither will He keep his anger forever.

10 (Ps 42:3; Joel 2:17) He does not treat us according to our sins,

nor repay us according to our iniquities.

11 (Ps 42:5; 43:5) For as the heavens are high above the earth,

so great is His mercy toward those who fear Him;

12 as far as the east is from the west,

so far has He removed our transgressions from us.

13 Like a father shows compassion to his children,

so the Lord gives compassion to those who fear Him.

14 For He knows how we are formed;

He remembers that we are dust.

Psalm 103

A Psalm of David.

1 Bless the LORD, O my soul:

And all that is within me, bless his holy name.

2 Bless the LORD, O my soul,

And forget not all his benefits:

3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities;

Who healeth all thy diseases;

4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction;

Who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;

5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things;

So that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.

6 The LORD executeth righteousness and judgment

For all that are oppressed.

7 He made known his ways unto Moses,

His acts unto the children of Israel.

8 The LORD is merciful and gracious,

Slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.

9 He will not always chide:

Neither will he keep his anger for ever.

10 He hath not dealt with us after our sins;

Nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.

11 For as the heaven is high above the earth,

So great is his mercy toward them that fear him.

12 As far as the east is from the west,

So far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

13 Like as a father pitieth his children,

So the LORD pitieth them that fear him.

14 For he knoweth our frame;

He remembereth that we are dust.

The Lord's prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

9 "Therefore pray in this manner:

Our Father who is in heaven,

hallowed be Your name.

10 (Mt 3:2; 4:17) Your kingdom come;

12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Quebec

"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;

your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.

Pray for these believers, using the words lf Philippians 3:7-10

7 (Lk 14:33) But what things were gain to me, I have counted these things

to be loss for the sake of Christ.

8 (Jn 17:3; 2Pe 1:3) Yes, certainly, I count everything as loss

for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom

I have forfeited the loss of all things and count them as rubbish that

I may gain Christ,

9 (1Co 1:30; Php 3:6; Isa 53:11) and be found in Him, not having my own

righteousness which is from the law, but that which is through faith

in Christ, (Or through the faith of Christ.) the righteousness which is of God

on the basis of faith,

10 (Ro 8:17; 8:29) to know Him, and the power of His resurrection,

and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death,

knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all

things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,

Doctor Who: Day of the Daleks - A Classic Serial Packed with Dalek Action

Based on the information from the transcript of the website [invalid URL day of the daleks ON Chakoteya.net], here's a review of Doctor Who: Day of the Daleks:

Story (Based on Summary):

The Doctor (Third Doctor) and companion Jo Grant land on Earth in the 22nd century and find themselves caught in a global crisis. The Daleks, the Doctor's most feared enemies, have infiltrated human society and are manipulating events from the shadows. The Doctor must expose the Dalek plot and unite the fragmented Earth nations to defeat them.

Review (Limited Scope):

Dalek Action Galore: This serial features the iconic Daleks as the central threat, providing a thrilling adventure for fans of these enemies.

High Stakes: The global scale of the Dalek invasion raises the stakes and creates a sense of urgency in the narrative.

The depiction of the Daleks and the futuristic Earth might not be as realistic by modern standards.

Slow Pacing: Classic Doctor Who sometimes featured a slower narrative pace compared to modern iterations.

Overall Thoughts (Limited Scope):

"Day of the Daleks" is a Dalek-centric adventure with high stakes and classic Doctor Who charm. However, the potential for dated production values, slower pacing, and limited character development are considerations.

Would I Recommend Watching It?

For Fans of Classic Doctor Who: 8/10 (Highly recommended for fans of the Third Doctor era, especially those who enjoy Dalek stories. Be prepared for the limitations of classic Who)

For Fans of Modern Doctor Who: 6/10 (The presence of the Daleks and the global conflict might hold some interest, but the potential for dated effects, slower pace, and less character focus could be disadvantages)

Here are some additional points to consider that might help you decide:

If possible, try to find reviews that discuss the visual representation of the Daleks in this serial. This can help you gauge how appealing it might be for you.

Consider watching other Third Doctor stories featuring the Daleks like "Genesis of the Daleks" to learn more about the Doctor's history with these enemies before diving into "Day of the Daleks".

I hope this helps! While "Day of the Daleks" might be a classic adventure for fans of the Third Doctor and the Daleks, the production limitations of classic Who might be a factor to consider for viewers more accustomed to the modern series.

but his wrath is against him who causes shame.

Proverbs 14

1 Every wise woman buildeth her house:

But the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.

2 He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the LORD:

But he that is perverse in his ways despiseth him.

3 In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride:

But the lips of the wise shall preserve them.

4 Where no oxen are, the crib is clean:

But much increase is by the strength of the ox.

5 A faithful witness will not lie:

But a false witness will utter lies.

6 A scorner seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not:

But knowledge is easy unto him that understandeth.

7 Go from the presence of a foolish man,

When thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.

8 The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way:

But the folly of fools is deceit.

9 Fools make a mock at sin:

But among the righteous there is favour.

10 The heart knoweth his own bitterness;

And a stranger doth not intermeddle with his joy.

11 The house of the wicked shall be overthrown:

But the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish.

12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man,

But the end thereof are the ways of death.

13 Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful;

And the end of that mirth is heaviness.

14 The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways:

And a good man shall be satisfied from himself.

15 The simple believeth every word:

But the prudent man looketh well to his going.

16 A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil:

But the fool rageth, and is confident.

17 He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly:

And a man of wicked devices is hated.

18 The simple inherit folly:

But the prudent are crowned with knowledge.

19 The evil bow before the good;

And the wicked at the gates of the righteous.

20 The poor is hated even of his own neighbour:

But the rich hath many friends.

21 He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth:

But he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he.

22 Do they not err that devise evil?

But mercy and truth shall be to them that devise good.

23 In all labour there is profit:

But the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.

24 The crown of the wise is their riches:

But the foolishness of fools is folly.

25 A true witness delivereth souls:

But a deceitful witness speaketh lies.

26 In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence:

And his children shall have a place of refuge.

27 The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life,

To depart from the snares of death.

28 In the multitude of people is the king's honour:

But in the want of people is the destruction of the prince.

29 He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding:

But he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.

30 A sound heart is the life of the flesh:

But envy the rottenness of the bones.

31 He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker:

But he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor.

32 The wicked is driven away in his wickedness:

But the righteous hath hope in his death.

33 Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding:

Jeremiah 1:1-10

The Commission of Jeremiah

1 (1Ch 6:60; 2Ch 36:21) The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah,

of the priests who were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin,

2 to whom the word of the Lord came in the days of Josiah

the son of Amon, king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign.

3 (2Ki 23:34; 2Ch 36:5-8) It came also in the days of Jehoiakim

the son of Josiah, king of Judah, to the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah

the son of Josiah, king of Judah, until the captivity of Jerusalem

in the fifth month.

4 Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

5 (Isa 49:1; Ps 71:5-6) "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you;

and before you were born I sanctified you,

and I ordained you a prophet to the nations."

6 (Ex 6:12) Then I said, "Ah, Lord God! Truly, I cannot speak,

for I am a youth."

7 (Nu 22:20) But the Lord said to me, "Do not say, 'I am a youth.'

For you shall go everywhere that I send you,

and whatever I command you, you shall speak.

8 (Ex 3:12; Jos 1:5) Do not be afraid of their faces.

For I am with you to deliver you," says the Lord.

9 (Ex 4:11-12; 4:15-16) Then the Lord put forth His hand

and touched my mouth. And the Lord said to me,

"Now, I have put My words in your mouth.

10 (Jer 31:28; 24:6) See, I have this day set you over the nations

and over the kingdoms, to root out and to pull down,

to destroy and to throw down, to build and to plant."

[1] The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah, of the priests that were in

Anathoth in the land of Benjamin:

[2] To whom the word of the LORD came in the days of Josiah the son of Amon

king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign.

[3] It came also in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah,

unto the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah the son of Josiah king of

Judah, unto the carrying away of Jerusalem captive in the fifth month.

[4] Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

[5] Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest

forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto

the nations.

[6] Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child.

[7] But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to

all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.

[8] Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith

the LORD.

[9] Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD

said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.

[10] See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms,

to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build,

and to plant.

It feels like "likes"-you know, that little thumbs-up on Facebook-have always

been with us. But it turns out that this virtual symbol of affirmation has

only been around since 2009.

The "like" designer, Justin Rosenstein, said he wanted to help create

"a world in which people uplift each other rather than tear each other down."

But Rosenstein came to lament how his invention might have enabled

users' unhealthy addiction to social media.

I think Rosenstein's creation speaks to our hardwired need

for affirmation and connection. We want to know that others know us,

notice us-and, yes, like us. The "like" is fairly new. But our hunger to know

and be known is as old as God's creation of man.

Still, the like button doesn't quite get the job done, does it?

Thankfully, we serve a God whose love goes so much deeper than a digital nod.

In Jeremiah 1:5, we witness His profoundly purposeful connection with

a prophet whom He called to Himself.

"Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest

forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto

the nations."

God knew the prophet even before conception and designed him for a life of

meaning and mission (vv. 8-10). And He invites us too into a purposeful life

as we come to know this Father who so intimately knows, loves, and likes us.

Week 6 Showing Grace to Others - Day 4 "Formula" for Forgiveness

Luke 17:3 - 4

3 (Lev 19:17; Mt 18:21)"Take heed to yourselves."

"If your brother sins against you, rebuke him. And if he repents,

forgive him.

4 (Mt 18:21-22) If he sins against you seven times in a day,

and seven times in a day turns to you, saying,

'I repent,' you must forgive him."

3 Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him;

and if he repent, forgive him.

4 And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day,

and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent;

thou shalt forgive him.

The context of these verses give us an interesting perspective of Jesus'

disciples. In a corollary passage in Matthew 18, the disciples (through

Peter, the designated mouthpiece) ask Jesus,

21 (Mt 18:15; Lk 17:3-4) Then Peter came to Him and said,

"Lord, how often shall I forgive my brother who sins against me?

Up to seven times?" (Matthew 18:21)

The disciples wanted a "formula" for forgiveness: they wanted to be able to

develop a checklist. Once, twice, maybe three times a brother could be

forgiven, but after that, you could write him off. After all, if

he keeps on offending over and over again, he doesn't deserve to be forgiven!

But Jesus says, " Rebuke him - let him know his fault; if he repents,

forgive him - even seven times in the same day!"

And the disciplines' response is predictable: "Lord, increase our faith!" They

were more comfortable with their own formula for forgiveness than with the

outrageous demands of the love that Christ imposed upon them.

We are so like the disciples. We want to draw a line and say. "This far

- no more. I'll forgive you once, but don't do it again. Now that you're

forgiven, you'd better shape up!". Yet God's love doesn't recognise "again".

He forgives, and no matter how often we come to him in repentance

for repeated offenses, his arms of forgiveness are open to us.

That is the way God wants us to forgive. He wants us to lay aside our

checklists, put away our suspicions, abandon our scoreboards, and forgive.

Seven times, or seventy times seven, as often as we have sinned against God

and been forgiven, we are to forgive.

Application

a) Have I ever kept a "scorecard" of performance on someone I

have forgiven ? Why?

b) Why do I need "increased faith" to be able to forgive as

Jesus calls me to?

Is 48:15,17

15 I, even I, have spoken, and I have called him;

I have brought him, and his way will prosper.

17 (Ps 32:8; Isa 43:14) Thus says the Lord,

your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel:

I am the Lord your God, who teaches you to profit,

who leads you in the way you should go.

15 I, even I, have spoken; yea, I have called him:

I have brought him, and he shall make his way prosperous.

17 Thus saith the LORD, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel;

I am the LORD thy God which teacheth thee to profit,

which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.

Quebec

"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;

your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.

Doctor Who: The Daemons - A Battle Against Witchcraft and Classic Who Charm

Based on the information from the transcript of the website [invalid URL doctor who the daemons classic ON Chakoteya.net], here's a review of Doctor Who:

The Daemons:

Story

The Doctor (Third Doctor) and companion Jo Grant find themselves in an English village embroiled in a conflict between superstition and science. A malevolent entity known as Master has possessed the local vicar and is using black magic to gain power. The Doctor must use his scientific knowledge to combat witchcraft and defeat Master.

Review (Limited Scope):

Classic Who Charm: "The Daemons" embodies the charm of classic Doctor Who with its blend of science fiction and supernatural elements. Fans of the era might find it enjoyable.

Unique Atmosphere: The English village setting and the Gothic horror themes create a unique atmosphere for a Doctor Who adventure.

The depiction of the supernatural elements might not be as realistic by modern standards.

Slow Pacing: Classic Doctor Who sometimes featured a slower narrative pace compared to modern iterations.

Overall Thoughts (Limited Scope):

"The Daemons" presents a unique blend of science fiction and Gothic horror with a classic Doctor Who charm. However, the potential for dated production values, slower pacing, and limited character development are considerations.

Would I Recommend Watching It?

For Fans of Classic Doctor Who: 7/10 (Recommended for fans of the Third Doctor era who enjoy atmospheric stories with a touch of supernatural horror. Be prepared for the limitations of classic Who)

For Fans of Modern Doctor Who: 5/10 (The unique atmosphere and blend of genres might hold some interest, but the potential for dated effects, slower pace, and less character focus could be disadvantages)

Here are some additional points to consider that might help you decide:

If possible, try to find reviews that discuss the visual representation of the supernatural elements in this serial. This can help you gauge how appealing it might be for you.

Classic Doctor Who had a different style than the modern series. If you're new to classic Who, consider watching earlier Third Doctor stories like "Spearhead from Space" and "Doctor Who and the Silurians" to get a feel for the era's aesthetics and storytelling before diving into "The Daemons".

I hope this helps! While "The Daemons" has unique elements that could be interesting for classic Doctor Who fans, the production limitations of classic Who might be a factor to consider, especially for viewers more accustomed to the modern series.

But she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.

5 The thoughts of the righteous are right:

But the counsels of the wicked are deceit.

6 The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood:

But the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.

7 The wicked are overthrown, and are not:

But the house of the righteous shall stand.

8 A man shall be commended according to his wisdom:

But he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised.

9 He that is despised, and hath a servant, is better

Than he that honoureth himself, and lacketh bread.

10 A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast:

But the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

11 He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread:

But he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding.

12 The wicked desireth the net of evil men:

But the root of the righteous yieldeth fruit.

13 The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips:

But the just shall come out of trouble.

14 A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth:

And the recompence of a man's hands shall be rendered unto him.

15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes:

But he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.

16 A fool's wrath is presently known:

But a prudent man covereth shame.

17 He that speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness:

But a false witness deceit.

18 There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword:

But the tongue of the wise is health.

19 The lip of truth shall be established for ever:

But a lying tongue is but for a moment.

20 Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil:

But to the counsellors of peace is joy.

21 There shall no evil happen to the just:

But the wicked shall be filled with mischief.

22 Lying lips are abomination to the LORD:

But they that deal truly are his delight.

23 A prudent man concealeth knowledge:

But the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness.

24 The hand of the diligent shall bear rule:

But the slothful shall be under tribute.

25 Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop:

But a good word maketh it glad.

26 The righteous is more excellent than his neighbour:

But the way of the wicked seduceth them.

27 The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting:

But the substance of a diligent man is precious.

28 In the way of righteousness is life;

And in the pathway thereof there is no death.

Thirsty and Thankful

Psalm 42:1-5

1 As the deer pants after the water brooks,

so my soul pants after You, O God.

2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2 ) My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.

When will I come and appear before God?

3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) My tears have been my food

day and night,

while they always say to me,

"Where is your God?"

4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) When I remember these things,

I pour out my soul within me.

For I would travel with the throng of people;

I proceeded with them to the house of God,

with the voice of joy and thanks,

with a multitude making a pilgrimage.

5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) Why are you cast down, O my soul?

And why are you disquieted in me?

Hope in God,

for I will yet thank Him

for the help of His presence.

[1] As the hart panteth after the water brooks,

So panteth my soul after thee, O God.

[2] My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God:

When shall I come and appear before God?

[3] My tears have been my meat day and night,

While they continually say unto me, Where is thy God?

[4] When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me:

For I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God,

With the voice of joy and praise,

With a multitude that kept holyday.

[5] Why art thou cast down, O my soul?

And why art thou disquieted in me?

Hope thou in God:

For I shall yet praise him For the help of his countenance.

Two friends and I were checking off a bucket list item-hiking the Grand

Canyon. We wondered if we had enough water as we started out our hike,

and it ran out fast. We were completely out of water with still a ways

to go to reach the rim. Panting, mixed with praying, set in. Then we

rounded a corner and what we maintain as a miracle happened. We spotted

three water bottles tucked in a cleft in the rock with a note:

"Knew you'd need this. Enjoy!" We looked at each other in disbelief,

whispered a thank-you to God, took a couple of much-needed sips,

and then set out on the last stretch. I've never been so

thirsty-and thankful-in my life.

The psalmist didn't have a Grand Canyon experience, but it's clear he knew

how a deer acts when thirsty and possibly scared. The deer

"pants" (Psalm 42:1), a word that brings to mind thirst and hunger,

to the point where if something doesn't change, you're afraid you might die.

The psalmist equates the deer's degree of thirst to his desire for God:

"so my soul pants for you, my God" (v. 1).

Like much-needed water, God is our ever-present help. We pant for Him because

He brings renewed strength and refreshment to our weary lives, equipping us

for whatever the day's journey holds.

Reflect & Pray

When have you been intensely thirsty or hungry, and scared?

Why should you be longing for God’s presence?

Loving God, thank You for the renewed strength

I experience as You fill my life. Forgive me for

looking to any other source but You.

Week 6 Showing Grace to Others - Day 3 The Kind Heart of Forgiveness

Ephesians 4:32

32 (2Co 2:10; Col 3:12-13; Mt 6:12) And be kind one to another,

tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ also forgave you.

32 and be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another,

even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

Don had lost his job because he stood against his boss and refused to

compromise his Christian principles. Certain friends in the company had

turned against him, choosing to save their own jobs at any cost,

and he felt very alone, abandoned when he most needed the support

of those who cared.

But Don showed no signs of bitterness or unforgiveness. He refused to

recite the details of his firing to those around him, saying simply and

honestly, " I believe my boss was wrong in what he did. But God can show

him." The kindness of Don's heart, and the tenderness with which he

extended forgiveness, became a testimony to all who knew him. Don's

boss never "saw the light", never repented, but Don lived in the freedom of

forgiving.

Comparison is a rare commodity among Christains today. We seem to be

overstocked with judgment and crammed full of condemnation, but we have

little space in the corners of our lives for tenderheartedness. We are quick

to assume that we know another person's heart and have the remedy for

the problem, rather then giving that person the benefit of the doubt,

the room to grow, the freedom to make a mistake and seek forgiveness.

Jesus demonstrated the king compassion necessary in forgiveness when he

looked down at the soldiers who has crucified him, gambling at his feet

for his cloak, and said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what

are doing."

When others hurt and betray us, they often "do not know what they are

doing." we can, in Christ, offer compassionate forgiveness to them -

not condoning their actions or excusing their wrong, but forgiving ,

in the simplicity and purity of God's love.

Application

a) What is the difference between excusing a wrong and forgiving?

b) How has God forgiven me for Christ's sake?

c) What does today's verse tell me about my attitude in forgiveness?

4) From Prosperity Promises - Kenneth Copeland

2 Chr 31:21

21 And in every deed that he undertook in the service of the house

of God and with the law and commandment to seek out his God,

he did this with all his heart, and he found success.

21 And in every work that he began in the service of the house

of God, and in the law, and in the commandments, to seek his God,

he did it with all his heart, and prospered.

5) From a Book called God's Promises for you:

God's Protection in Times of Trouble

Ps 27:1-6

PSALMS 27

A Psalm of David.

1 The Lord is my light and my salvation;

whom will I fear?

The Lord is the strength of my life;

of whom will I be afraid?

2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) When the wicked came against me

to eat my flesh -

my enemies and my foes -

they stumbled and fell.

3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) Though an army should encamp against me,

my heart will not fear;

though war should rise against me,

in this will I be confident.

4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) One thing I have asked from the Lord,

that will I seek after -

for me to dwell in the house of the Lord

all the days of my life,

to see the beauty of the Lord,

and to inquire in His temple.

5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) For in the time of trouble

He will hide me in His pavilion;

in the shelter of His tabernacle He will hide me;

He will set me up on a rock.

6 (2Sa 17:22; Dt 3:8 - 9) Now my head will be lifted up

above my enemies encircling me;

therefore I will offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle;

I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord.

1 The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?

The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

2 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes,

came upon me to eat up my flesh,

They stumbled and fell.

3 Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear:

Though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.

4 One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after;

That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life,

To behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.

5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion:

In the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me;

he shall set me up upon a rock.

6 And now shall mine head be lifted up,

Above mine enemies round about me:

Therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy;

I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD.

Remember God's promises when You pray

The Lord's prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

9 "Therefore pray in this manner:

Our Father who is in heaven,

hallowed be Your name.

10 (Mt 3:2; 4:17) Your kingdom come;

12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Quebec

Adding further

"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;

your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.

Doctor Who: Colony in Space - A Third Doctor Story

with Space Racism and Rutting Robots

Based on the information from the transcript of the website

[invalid URL doctor who colony in space wiki ON Chakoteya.net],

here's a review of Doctor Who: Colony in Space:

Story

The Doctor (Third Doctor) and companion Jo Grant arrive on

a "distant planet" in the future, where a human colony

on Mars is locked in conflict with the indigenous

Auton population. The Doctor uncovers a sinister plot

involving corporate greed, racism, and modified Autons

used as slave labour.

Review (Limited Scope):

Social Commentary: The story explores themes of racism

and exploitation through the conflict between the human

colonists and the Autons.

Classic Who's Recurring Monsters: This serial features

the return of the Autons, previously encountered

by the Third Doctor in "Terror of the Autons."

Fans familiar with these plastic enemies might

enjoy their reappearance.

Limited Character Development (Based on Summary):

The transcript doesn't provide details

about the development of the Doctor or Jo Grant in this serial.

Possible Weaknesses (Considering Limited Information):

Classic Who's Production Values: Special effects in classic

Doctor Who were limited by the era's technology. The depiction

of the future colony and the Autons might not be as realistic

by modern standards.

Slow Pacing: Classic Doctor Who sometimes featured a slower

narrative pace compared to modern iterations.

Potentially Offensive Content: The serial's depiction of

racism might be conveyed in a way that is considered insensitive

by modern standards. It's important to be aware of this context

before viewing.

Overall Thoughts (Limited Scope):

"Colony in Space" presents a return of the Autons in a story

with social commentary about racism and exploitation. However,

the potential for dated production values, slower pacing,

and potentially offensive content are considerations.

Would I Recommend Watching It?

For Fans of Classic Doctor Who: 6/10

(Recommended with caution for fans of the Third Doctor era

who enjoy stories with social themes. Be prepared for

the limitations of classic Who and be aware of potentially

offensive content)

For Fans of Modern Doctor Who: 4/10 (The return of the Autons

and the social themes might hold some interest, but the potential

for dated effects, slower pace, and offensive content could be

significant disadvantages)

Here are some additional points to consider that might help you decide:

If possible, try to find reviews that discuss the visual

representation of the future colony and the Autons in this serial.

This can help you gauge how appealing it might be for you.

Consider watching earlier Third Doctor stories like

"Spearhead from Space" and "Doctor Who and the Silurians"

to get a feel for the era's aesthetics and storytelling before

diving into "Colony in Space".

Be aware of the potentially offensive content related to the

depiction of racism in the serial and make an informed decision

before watching.

I hope this helps!

Day 155 of My 4th Bible Study Journey - 3 June 2024 reflections

Day 155, 3 June 2024

1) Proverbs 7-9

Proverbs 7

Beware of the Adulteress

1 (Pr 1:8) My son, keep my words,

and lay up my commandments within you.

2 (Dt 32:10; Ps 17:8) Keep my commandments and live,

and my teaching as the apple of your eye.

3 (Pr 3:3; 6:21) Bind them on your fingers;

write them on the tablet of your heart.

4 Say to wisdom, "You are my sister,"

and call understanding your kinswoman,

5 (Pr 2:16; 6:24) that they may keep you from the immoral woman,

from the seductress who flatters with her words.

6 For at the window of my house

I looked through my casement,

7 (Pr 6:32; 1:22) and saw among the simple ones,

I discerned among the youths,

a young man void of understanding,

8 passing through the street near her corner;

and he went the way to her house

9 in the twilight, in the evening,

in the black and dark night.

10 (Ge 38:14-15; 1Ti 2:9) And there a woman met him,

with the attire of a harlot, and subtle of heart.

11 (Pr 9:13; Titus 2:5) She is loud and stubborn;

her feet do not abide in her house.

12 (Pr 23:28; 9:14) Now she is without, now in the streets,

and lies in wait at every corner.

13 (Ge 39:12) So she caught him, and kissed him;

and with an impudent face said to him:

14 (Lev 7:11) "I have peace offerings with me;

this day have I paid my vows.

15 Therefore I came out to meet you,

diligently to seek your face, and I have found you.

16 (Isa 19:9; Eze 27:7) I have decked my bed with coverings of tapestry,

with carved works, with fine linen of Egypt.

17 (Ps 45:8) I have perfumed my bed

with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.

18 Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning;

let us solace ourselves with love.

19 (Mt 20:11) For my husband is not at home;

he has gone on a long journey;

20 he has taken a bag of money with him,

and will come home at the day appointed."

21 (Pr 5:3; Ps 12:2) With her enticing speech she caused him to yield,

with the flattering of her lips she seduced him.

22 He went after her straightway,

as an ox goes to the slaughter,

or as a fool to the correction of the stocks,

23 (Ecc 9:12) until a dart struck through his liver.

As a bird hastens to the snare,

he did not know that it would cost him his life.

24 (Pr 5:7; 4:1) Listen to me now therefore, O children,

and attend to the words of my mouth:

25 (Pr 5:8 ) do not let your heart turn aside to her ways,

do not go astray in her paths;

26 (Ne 13:26) for she has cast down many wounded,

and many strong men have been slain by her.

27 (Pr 5:5; 9:18) Her house is the way to Sheol,

going down to the chambers of death.

Proverbs 7

1 My son, keep my words,

And lay up my commandments with thee.

2 Keep my commandments, and live;

And my law as the apple of thine eye.

3 Bind them upon thy fingers,

Write them upon the table of thine heart.

4 Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister;

And call understanding thy kinswoman:

5 That they may keep thee from the strange woman,

From the stranger which flattereth with her words.

6 For at the window of my house

I looked through my casement,

7 And beheld among the simple ones,

I discerned among the youths,

A young man void of understanding,

8 Passing through the street near her corner;

And he went the way to her house,

9 In the twilight, in the evening,

In the black and dark night:

10 And, behold, there met him a woman

With the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart.

11 (She is loud and stubborn;

Her feet abide not in her house:

12 Now is she without, now in the streets,

And lieth in wait at every corner.)

13 So she caught him, and kissed him,

And with an impudent face said unto him,

14 I have peace offerings with me;

This day have I payed my vows.

15 Therefore came I forth to meet thee,

Diligently to seek thy face, and I have found thee.

16 I have decked my bed with coverings of tapestry,

With carved works, with fine linen of Egypt.

17 I have perfumed my bed

With myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.

18 Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning:

Let us solace ourselves with loves.

19 For the goodman is not at home,

He is gone a long journey:

20 He hath taken a bag of money with him,

And will come home at the day appointed.

21 With her much fair speech she caused him to yield,

With the flattering of her lips she forced him.

22 He goeth after her straightway,

As an ox goeth to the slaughter,

Or as a fool to the correction of the stocks;

23 Till a dart strike through his liver;

As a bird hasteth to the snare,

And knoweth not that it is for his life.

24 Hearken unto me now therefore, O ye children,

And attend to the words of my mouth.

25 Let not thine heart decline to her ways,

Go not astray in her paths.

26 For she hath cast down many wounded:

Yea, many strong men have been slain by her.

27 Her house is the way to hell,

Going down to the chambers of death.

Proverbs 8

The Virtue of Wisdom

1 (Pr 1:20-21) Does not wisdom cry out,

and understanding lift up her voice?

2 She stands on the top of high places,

by the way in the places of the paths.

3 (Job 29:7) She cries out at the gates,

at the entry of the city, at the entrance of the doors:

4 "To you, O men, I call,

and my voice is to the sons of men.

5 (Pr 1:22; 1:4) O you simple, understand wisdom,

and you fools, be of an understanding heart.

6 Hear, for I will speak of excellent things,

and from the opening of my lips will be right things;

7 (Jn 8:14; Ps 37:30) for my mouth will speak truth,

and wickedness is an abomination to my lips.

8 All the words of my mouth are in righteousness;

there is nothing crooked or perverse in them.

9 (Pr 14:6) They are all plain to him who understands,

and right to those who find knowledge.

10 (Ps 119:72; 119:127) Receive my instruction, and not silver,

and knowledge rather than choice gold;

11 (Job 28:15-19; Ps 19:10) for wisdom is better than rubies,

and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.

12 (Pr 1:4 ) "I, wisdom, dwell with prudence,

and find out knowledge and discretion.

13 (Pr 16:6; Ps 97:10) The fear of the Lord is to hate evil;

pride and arrogance

and the evil way and the perverse mouth I hate.

14 (Ecc 7:19; Isa 9:6) Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom;

I am understanding, I have strength.

15 (Da 2:21; Ro 13:1) By me kings reign,

and princes decree justice.

16 By me princes rule,

and nobles, even all the judges of the earth.

17 (1Sa 2:30; Jn 14:21) I love those who love me,

and those who seek me early will find me.

18 (Pr 3:16; Mt 6:33) Riches and honor are with me,

yes, enduring riches and righteousness.

19 (Pr 3:14; 8:10) My fruit is better than gold,

yes, than fine gold, and my revenue than choice silver.

20 I lead in the way of righteousness,

in the midst of the paths of justice,

21 that I may cause those who love me to inherit wealth,

and I will fill their treasuries.

22 (Pr 3:19) "The Lord possessed me in the beginning of His way,

before His works of old.

23 (Ps 2:6) I was set up from everlasting,

from the beginning, before there was ever an earth.

24 When there were no depths, I was brought forth,

when there were no fountains abounding with water.

25 (Ps 90:2) Before the mountains were settled,

before the hills I was brought forth;

26 while as yet He had not made the earth or the fields,

or the first dust of the world.

27 (Pr 3:19; Isa 40:22) When He prepared the heavens, I was there,

when He drew a circle on the face of the deep,

28 when He established the clouds above,

when He strengthened the fountains of the deep,

29 (Ps 104:9; Ge 1:9-10) when He gave to the sea His decree,

that the waters should not pass His commandment,

when He appointed the foundations of the earth,

30 (Jn 1:1-3; Mt 3:17) then I was by Him, as one brought up with Him;

and I was daily His delight,

rejoicing always before Him,

31 (Ps 16:3; Jn 13:1) rejoicing in the habitable part of His earth,

and my delights were with the sons of men.

32 (Ps 119:1-2; Lk 11:28) "Now therefore listen to me, O you children,

for blessed are those who keep my ways.

33 (Pr 4:1) Hear instruction, and be wise,

and do not refuse it.

34 (Pr 3:13) Blessed is the man who hears me,

watching daily at my gates,

waiting at the posts of my doors.

35 (Pr 12:2; 3:13-18) For whoever finds me finds life,

and will obtain favor of the Lord;

36 (Pr 1:31; 15:32) but he who sins against me wrongs his own soul;

all those who hate me love death."

Proverbs 8

Wisdom and Folly

1 Doth not wisdom cry?

And understanding put forth her voice?

2 She standeth in the top of high places, by the way

In the places of the paths.

3 She crieth at the gates, at the entry of the city,

At the coming in at the doors.

4 Unto you, O men, I call;

And my voice is to the sons of man.

5 O ye simple, understand wisdom:

And, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart.

6 Hear; for I will speak of excellent things;

And the opening of my lips shall be right things.

7 For my mouth shall speak truth;

And wickedness is an abomination to my lips.

8 All the words of my mouth are in righteousness;

There is nothing froward or perverse in them.

9 They are all plain to him that understandeth,

And right to them that find knowledge.

10 Receive my instruction, and not silver;

And knowledge rather than choice gold.

11 For wisdom is better than rubies;

And all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.

12 I wisdom dwell with prudence,

And find out knowledge of witty inventions.

13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil:

Pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way,

And the froward mouth, do I hate.

14 Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom:

I am understanding; I have strength.

15 By me kings reign,

And princes decree justice.

16 By me princes rule,

And nobles, even all the judges of the earth.

17 I love them that love me;

And those that seek me early shall find me.

18 Riches and honour are with me;

Yea, durable riches and righteousness.

19 My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold;

And my revenue than choice silver.

20 I lead in the way of righteousness,

In the midst of the paths of judgment:

21 That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance;

And I will fill their treasures.

22 The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way,

Before his works of old.

23 I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning,

Or ever the earth was.

24 When there were no depths, I was brought forth;

When there were no fountains abounding with water.

25 Before the mountains were settled,

Before the hills was I brought forth:

26 While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields,

Nor the highest part of the dust of the world.

27 When he prepared the heavens, I was there:

When he set a compass upon the face of the depth:

28 When he established the clouds above:

When he strengthened the fountains of the deep:

29 When he gave to the sea his decree,

That the waters should not pass his commandment:

When he appointed the foundations of the earth:

30 Then I was by him, as one brought up with him:

And I was daily his delight,

Rejoicing always before him;

31 Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth;

And my delights were with the sons of men.

32 Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children:

For blessed are they that keep my ways.

33 Hear instruction, and be wise,

And refuse it not.

34 Blessed is the man that heareth me,

Watching daily at my gates,

Waiting at the posts of my doors.

35 For whoso findeth me findeth life,

And shall obtain favour of the LORD.

36 But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul:

All they that hate me love death.

Proverbs 9

The Way of Wisdom

1 (Eph 2:20-22; Mt 16:18) Wisdom has built her house,

she has hewn out her seven pillars;

2 (Pr 23:30) she has killed her beasts, she has mixed her wine,

she has also furnished her table.

3 (Pr 9:14; 8:1-3) She has sent out her maidens,

she cries out from the highest places of the city,

4 (Pr 6:32; 9:16) "Whoever is simple, let him turn in here."

As for him who wants understanding, she says to him,

5 (SS 5:1; Jn 6:27) "Come, eat of my bread,

and drink of the wine which I have mixed.

6 Forsake foolishness and live,

and go in the way of understanding."

7 He who reproves a scorner gets shame for himself,

and he who rebukes a wicked man gets hurt.

8 (Ps 141:5; Mt 7:6 ) Do not reprove a scorner, lest he hate you;

rebuke a wise man, and he will love you.

9 (Pr 1:5) Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser;

teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.

10 (Pr 1:7; Job 28:28; Ps 111:10) The fear of the Lord

is the beginning of wisdom,

and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

11 (Pr 10:27; 3:16) For by me your days will be multiplied,

and the years of your life will be increased.

12 (Job 22:2-3) If you are wise, you will be wise for yourself,

but if you scorn, you alone will bear it.

1 Wisdom hath builded her house,

She hath hewn out her seven pillars:

2 She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine;

She hath also furnished her table.

3 She hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth

Upon the highest places of the city,

4 Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither:

As for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,

5 Come, eat of my bread,

And drink of the wine which I have mingled.

6 Forsake the foolish, and live;

And go in the way of understanding.

7 He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame:

And he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot.

8 Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee:

Rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.

9 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser:

Teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.

10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom:

And the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

11 For by me thy days shall be multiplied,

And the years of thy life shall be increased.

12 If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself:

But if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.

The Way of Foolishness

13 (Pr 7:11; 5:6 ) A foolish woman is clamorous;

she is simple, and knows nothing.

14 (Pr 9:3) For she sits at the door of her house,

on a seat in the high places of the city,

15 to call those who pass by

who go right on their way:

16 "Whoever is simple, let him turn in here."

And as for him who lacks understanding, she says to him,

17 (Pr 20:17; 30:20) "Stolen waters are sweet,

and bread eaten in secret is pleasant."

18 (Pr 7:27) But he does not know that the dead are there,

and that her guests are in the depths of the grave.

13 A foolish woman is clamorous:

She is simple, and knoweth nothing.

14 For she sitteth at the door of her house,

On a seat in the high places of the city,

15 To call passengers

Who go right on their ways:

16 Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither:

And as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,

17 Stolen waters are sweet,

And bread eaten in secret is pleasant.

18 But he knoweth not that the dead are there;

And that her guests are in the depths of hell.

2) Our Daily Bread for 3 June 2024 titled

Cleansed by Christ

1 John 1:5-10

God Is Light

5 (1Jn 3:11; Jas 1:17) This then is the message which we have heard from Him

and declare to you: God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all.

6 (1Jn 4:20; 1:10) If we say that we have fellowship with Him, yet walk

in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.

7 (Isa 2:5; Eph 1:7) But if we walk in the light as He is in the light,

we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ

His Son cleanses us from all sin.

8 (Jas 3:2; 1Jn 2:4) If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves,

and the truth is not in us.

9 (Ps 32:5; Pr 28:13) If we confess our sins, He is faithful

and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

10 (1Jn 5:10; 1:8) If we say that we have not sinned,

we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.

[5] This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto

you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

[6] If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we

lie, and do not the truth:

[7] But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship

one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from

all sin.

[8] If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is

not in us.

[9] If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins,

and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

[10] If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is

not in us.

My first short-term missions trip was to the Amazon jungle in Brazil to help

build a church by the river. One afternoon, we visited one of the few homes

in the area that had a water filter. When our host poured murky well water

into the top of the contraption, within minutes all the impurities were

removed, and clean, clear drinking water appeared. Right there in the man's

living room, I saw a reflection of what it means to be cleansed by Christ.

When we first come to Jesus with our guilt and shame and ask Him to forgive us

and we receive Him as our Savior, He cleanses us from our sins and makes us

new. We're purified just like the murky water was transformed into clean

drinking water. What a joy it is to know we are in right standing with God

because of Jesus' sacrifice (2 Corinthians 5:21) and to know God removes

our sins as far as the east is from the west (Psalm 103:12).

But the apostle John reminds us that this doesn't mean we'll never sin again.

When we do sin, we can be assured by the image of a water filter

and be comforted by knowing that as

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins,

and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9).

Let's live confidently knowing that we're continually

being cleansed by Christ.

Words in Season Scripture Memory Tools

Week 6 Showing Grace to Others - Day 2 - The key to the Prison Cell

Matt 6:14-15

14 For if you forgive men for their sins, your heavenly Father will

also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive men for their sins,

neither will your Father forgive your sins.

14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will

also forgive you: 15 but if ye forgive not men their trespasses,

neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Ann had been badly wounded in a relationship that had ended in anger

and accusation. For more than a year, Ann nursed her bitterness, rallying

support for her attitudes from friends and colleagues. Any time she saw

her former friend, Ann put up an icy wall of hostility. She thought she was

"getting over" the hurt, but the very mention of her friend's name brought

back a flood of negative feelings. Ann was trapped, locked in a prison of

unforgiveness , a jail built block by block by her own unwillingness to

forgive. Ann didn't "get over it"; instead, her wounds festered

and her bitterness grew worse.

Then one day - she never knew how - Ann let go of her bitterness. The barriers

of hostility and anger melted away, and when she saw her friend again, she was

able to forgive. And Ann was finally able to turn to the Lord for her own

healing and forgiveness.

"If you do not forgive," Jesus says - and the statement falls hard on

unforgiving hearts, "Neither will you be forgiven." In one sense, God's

forgiveness is unconditional - we do not have to earn or deserve it, and it is

always available to us. But we cannot experience the forgiveness God has

extended to us when we harbour unforgiveness towards others and build walls

of bitterness in our hearts.

When we refuse forgiveness toward those who have hurt or betrayed us, we do

not keep them in bondage, but ourselves. We lock ourselves away for an

awareness of God's loving presence; we imprison ourselves in a cell of

revenge. But when we reach out to forgive, we turn in the lock;

the door is open for our own sins to be forgiven and our own hearts

cleansed and purified.

a) Why is forgiving others a condition for experiencing forgiveness

in my own life?

b) How can these verses have a practical effect upon my willingness

4) From Prosperity Promises - Kenneth Copeland

Haggai 2:7-9

7 (1Ki 8:11; Isa 60:7) And I will shake all the nations,

and they will come with the wealth of all nations,

and I will fill this house with glory, says the Lord of Hosts.

8 (Isa 60:17) The silver is mine, and the gold is Mine,

says the Lord of Hosts.

9 (Isa 9:6-7) The glory of this latter house will be greater

than the former, says the Lord of Hosts. And in this place

I will give peace, says the Lord of Hosts.

7 and I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations

shall come: and I will fill this house with glory,

saith the LORD of hosts.

8 The silver is mine, and the gold is mine,

saith the LORD of hosts.

9 The glory of this latter house shall be greater

God's Help in Times of Temptation

James 1:12-18

Trial and Temptation

12 (Jas 2:5; 1Co 9:25; 2Ti 4:8) Blessed is the man who endures temptation,

for when he is tried, he will receive the crown of life,

which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.

13 Let no man say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God,"

for God cannot be tempted with evil; neither does He tempt anyone.

14 But each man is tempted when he is drawn away by his own lust and enticed.

15 (Job 15:35; Ps 7:14) Then, when lust has conceived, it brings forth sin;

and when sin is finished, it brings forth death.

16 (Jas 1:19; 2:5) Do not err, my beloved brothers.

17 (Mal 3:6; Nu 23:19; Jn 3:27) Every good gift and every perfect gift

is from above and comes down from the Father of lights,

with whom is no change or shadow of turning.

18 (1Pe 1:23; Jn 1:13; Rev 14:4) Of His own will He brought us forth with

the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of His creatures.

12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried,

he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised

to them that love him.

13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God:

for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

14 but every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust,

and enticed.

15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin:

and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.

17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above,

and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness,

neither shadow of turning.

18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth,

that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

The Lord's prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

9 "Therefore pray in this manner:

Our Father who is in heaven,

hallowed be Your name.

10 (Mt 3:2; 4:17) Your kingdom come;

12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Quebec

Adding further

"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;

your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
