Installation & Setup

You need a working verion of Wordpress 3.0 and above.

I'll be making lots of references to the Worpdress admin panel in this documentation. If you're totally new to Wordpress, take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with how the admin panel is laid out so you won't be lost when I instruct you to open up "Appearance > Widgets" or something like that.

Also, its higly recommended that you familiarize with Wordpress 3.0 Custom Post Types. This is the key to using this the main slider and portfolio sections.

Installing the Theme

You need to upload the theme files to your Wordpress installation's wp-content/themes/ folder. Then go to your Wordpress administration panel and activate the theme from the Appearance > Themes pane.

DO NOT install it like wp-conten/themes/themename/themename/...

DO install it like wp-content/themes/themename

Initial Steps

To set up the homepage you must create a new page, you can do so by navigating to Pages > Add New. You can give this page a title and add content as you wish. You can also import the dummy content (dummycontent.xml) from Tools > Import. Select the "Front Page" template from the Page Attributes section and click "Publish".

Once you have created your new page which uses the "Front Page" page template, navigate to Settings > Reading and configure the "Front Page Displays" setting. Select the static page option and choose the page you just created as your front page.

Your homepage is now created and can be viewed by visiting your root URL.

You can change different slider settings from the Theme admin panel. If you have selected "Static Image" Frontpage, you also need to select which slider post to get image from.

Slider Images

To add a new slider item, navigate to Slider > Add New. When you upload images, make sure you select them as featured images.

If you are using the Nivo Slider or the Acoordion Slider, you can also link the sliders to different urls. You can do so by adding your preferred url to Slide Link metabox on slider pages.

Setting up the Blog

To set up the blog, you must create a new page, you can do so by navigating to Pages > Add New. You can give this page a title of "blog" yet you do not have to include any content. Click "Publish".

Once you have created your new page, navigate to Settings > Reading and configure the "Front Page Displays" setting. Select the static page option and choose the page you just created as your posts page.

Your blog index is now created and can be viewed by visiting the page you just published.
