When you see User ID this is your User ID or Login name.

This document assumes that Eudora or Netscape has been installed successfully.

  • Starting your E-Mail Program
       
    • Start Eudora or Netscape by: 
      • Double clicking the program Icon 
      • If your program asks you for your password hit Cancel

    Netscape

    • Choose Options 
    • Then Mail and News Preferences 
      • Click the Servers Tab 
      • In the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server:
        type: mail.nk.ca
      • In the Incoming Mail (POP3) Server:
        type: User ID@mail.nk.ca
      • In the POP3 User Name:
        type: User ID@mail.nk.ca
      • Next Click the Organization Tab 
      • Check to make sure the Remember Mail Password is Not checked 
      • Now Click OK

  • Eudora
    Versions 1.5.2 & 1.5.4 
    • Version 1.5.2 
      • Click Special 
      • Then Settings
    • Version 1.5.4 
      • Click Tools 
      • Then Options
    • Next make sure that Getting Started Icon is highlited in the Catagory box 
      • In the POP Account box
        type: User ID@mail.nk.ca
      • In the Real name box type your Name 
      • Version 1.5.2 
        • Make Sure Offline (no connection) is Not checked
      • Version 1.5.4 
        • Click Winsock (network, PPP, SLIP) radio button 
        • Make Sure Offline (no connection) is Not checked
    • Now click on Personal Information Icon 
      • In the POP Account box
        type: User ID@mail.nk.ca
      • In the Real name box type your Name 
      • In the Return Address box
        type: User ID@mail.nk.ca
    • Now click on Hosts Icon 
      • In the SMTP box
        type: mail.nk.ca
      • You can leave the PH & Finger box blank
    • Now click on Checking Mail Icon 
      • In the POP Account box
        type: User ID@mail.nk.ca
      • You can leave everything else Unchecked 
      • under Authentication Style: Make sure Password is checked
    • Now click on Sending Mail Icon 
      • In the Return Address box
        type: User ID@mail.nk.ca
      • In the SMTP box
        type: mail.nk.ca
      • You can check what you want on the list
    • Now click on Attachments Icon 
      • Encoding Method is up to you 
      • Click on the Attachments Directory Button and set the directory where you would like attachments put.
    Attachments 
    Anything sent with E-Mail such as Graphic Files or Word Processor Documents
    • Go through the rest of the Icons and set the settings to your Preferences. 
    • Now Ckick the OK Button and happy E-Mailing.
      P.S. You may have to shut down and restart Eudora

SETTING UP WIN95 DIALER
Please Note: 
This document assumes Windows 95 has been installed successfully.


Any Items listed that are Bold are Windows 95 Icons or Buttons.


  • Installing the TCP/IP
       
    • Click on the Start button on the tool bar (usually on the lower left of your screen). 
    • Select Settings 
    • Click on Control Panel 
    • Double-Click on Network 
    • Click on Add 
    • Click on Protocol 
    • Click on Add 
    • Click on Microsoft in the left window 
    • Click on TCP/IP in the right window 
    • You may now see a new menu with green board. (If you do not please skip the next 3 lines)
    • Click on Microsoft in the left window
    • click on Dial-Up Adaptor on the right
    • Click on OK 
    • Click on TCP/IP-> 
    • Click on Properties 
    • Click on the IP Address Tab 
    • Choose Obtain IP Address Automatically 
    • Click on the DNS Configuration Tab 
    • Choose Enable DNS 
    • Make up a name for your computer and enter it into the Host field. You can use your User ID 
    • Click on the Domain field & enter in nk.ca 
    • Click on the DNS Server Search Order field and enter in 204.209.81.1 
    • Click on Add 
    • Click on the DNS Server Search Order field and enter in 204.209.81.3 
    • Click on Add 
    • Click on the Domain Suffix Search Order field again and enter nk.ca 
    • Click on Add 
    • Click OK at the bottom 
    • Click OK at the bottom of Network 
    • Proceed to the next step...

  • Binding TCP/IP to the Dial-up Adapter
       
    • Click on Start 
    • Select Settings 
    • Click on Control Panel 
    • Click on Add/Remove Programs 
    • Click on the Windows Setup Tab at the top 
    • Click on Communications 
    • Click on Details 
    • Click on Dial-Up Networking so there is a checkmark beside it 
    • Insert the appropriate Windows 95 diskettes (or CD ROM) when prompted 
    • Click OK 
    • Double-Click on Network 
    • Click on Dial-Up Adapter 
    • Click on Properties 
    • Click on Bindings 
    • Make sure there is a checkmark next to TCP/IP 
    • Click OK 
    • Proceed to the next step...

  • Installing Dial-up Networking
       
    • Click on Start 
    • Select Programs 
    • Select Accessories 
    • Click on Dial-Up Networking 
    • Double-Click Make new connection 
    • Type Dial NetKnow for the name 
    • Make sure the proper modem is selected 
    • Click Next 
    • Press the Tab key 
    • Type in 424-6548 in the phone number box 
    • Click inside the Country Code Box 
    • Hit the "C" key 
    • Click on Canada 
    • Click on Next 
    • Click on Finish

Top of Page A new icon in your Dial-Up Networking Window called "Dial NetKnow" will appear.
     
  • Click the new "Dial NetKnow" icon with the RIGHT mouse button 
    • Click on Properties 
    • Click on Server Type 
    • Make sure Type of Server reads: PPP: Windows 95, Windows NT 3.5, Internet 
    • Make sure Log onto Network is NOT checked 
    • Make sure Enable software compression is NOT checked 
    • Make sure NETBEUI is NOT checked 
    • Make sure that IPX/SPX is NOT checked 
    • Click on the TCP/IP Settings button 
    • Click on Specify Name Server Addresses 
    • Enter 204.209.81.1 for the Primary DNS 
    • Enter 204.209.81.3 for the Secondary DNS 
    • Click OK 
    • Click OK 
    • Click on Configure 
    • Click on Options 
    • Click on Bring up terminal window after dialing 
    • Click OK 
    • Click OK
You may have to restart your computer at this point.

Top of Page   Making the Connection....
     
  1. Double-Click "Dial NetKnow" in the Dial-Up Networking Window 
  2. Enter your NetKnow Login/Username in the User Name window (all lowercase) 
  3. Enter your NetKnow Account password in the password window (without any spaces in the password) 
  4. Click Connect 
  5. Use Internet Programs as normal once connected 
  6. Enjoy & Happy Net-Surfing!
