Ezekiel 35



A Prophecy Against Edom



1 Moreover the word of the Lord came to me, saying:

2 (Ge 32:3; Eze 6:2) Son of man, set your face against Mount Seir

and prophesy against it,

3 (Jer 6:12; 15:6) and say to it, Thus says the Lord God: I am against you,

O Mount Seir, and I will stretch out My hand against you, and I will make

you a desolation and a waste.

4 (Eze 35:9; Mal 1:3-4) I will lay your cities waste, and you shall

become a desolation. Then you shall know that I am the Lord.

5 (Ps 137:7; Eze 21:25; 21:29) Because you have had a perpetual hatred

and have delivered the sons of Israel to the power of the sword

in the time of their calamity, in the time of the punishment of the end,

6 (Isa 63:2-6) therefore, as I live, says the Lord God, I will prepare you

for bloodshed, and bloodshed shall pursue you. Since you have not hated

bloodshed, therefore blood shall pursue you.

7 (Eze 29:11; 35:3) Thus I will make Mount Seir a desolation and a waste,

and cut off from it the one who passes through and the one who returns.

8 (Eze 31:12; 32:4-5) I will fill its mountains with its slain men.

On your hills and in your valleys and in all your rivers, they shall fall

who are slain with the sword.

9 (Eze 6:7; 25:13) I will make you a perpetual desolation,

and your cities shall not be inhabited. Then you shall know that

I am the Lord.

10 (Eze 36:5; 48:35) Because you have said, "These two nations

and these two countries shall be mine, and we will possess them,"

whereas the Lord was there,

11 (Ps 9:16; Mt 7:2) therefore, as I live, says the Lord God,

I will treat you according to your anger and according to your envy,

which you have showed out of your hatred against them. And I will make

Myself known among them when I have judged you.

12 (Eze 36:2) Then you shall know that I, the Lord, have heard all

your blasphemies which you have spoken against the mountains of Israel,

saying, "They are laid desolate. They are given to us to consume."

13 (Da 11:36; 1Sa 2:3) Thus with your mouth you have boasted against Me

and have multiplied your words against Me. I have heard them.

14 Thus says the Lord God: When the whole earth rejoices,

I will make you a desolation.

15 (Isa 34:5-6; La 4:21) As you rejoiced at the inheritance

of the house of Israel because it was desolate, so I will do to you.

You shall be a desolation, O Mount Seir, and all Edom, all of it.

Then they shall know that I am the Lord.



Ezekiel 35

[1] Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

[2] Son of man, set thy face against mount Seir, and prophesy against it,

[3] And say unto it, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O mount Seir, I am

against thee, and I will stretch out mine hand against thee, and I will make

thee most desolate.

[4] I will lay thy cities waste, and thou shalt be desolate, and thou shalt

know that I am the LORD.

[5] Because thou hast had a perpetual hatred, and hast shed the blood of the

children of Israel by the force of the sword in the time of their calamity,

in the time that their iniquity had an end:

[6] Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will prepare thee unto

blood, and blood shall pursue thee: sith thou hast not hated blood, even

blood shall pursue thee.

[7] Thus will I make mount Seir most desolate, and cut off from it him that

passeth out and him that returneth.

[8] And I will fill his mountains with his slain men: in thy hills, and in

thy valleys, and in all thy rivers, shall they fall that are slain with the

sword.

[9] I will make thee perpetual desolations, and thy cities shall not return:

and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

[10] Because thou hast said, These two nations and these two countries shall

be mine, and we will possess it; whereas the LORD was there:

[11] Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will even do according to

thine anger, and according to thine envy which thou hast used out of thy

hatred against them; and I will make myself known among them, when I have

judged thee.

[12] And thou shalt know that I am the LORD, and that I have heard all thy

blasphemies which thou hast spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying,

They are laid desolate, they are given us to consume.

[13] Thus with your mouth ye have boasted against me, and have multiplied

your words against me: I have heard them.

[14] Thus saith the Lord GOD; When the whole earth rejoiceth, I will make

mount Seir, and all Idumea, even all of it: and they shall know that I am

the LORD.



Ezekiel 36



A Prophecy to the Mountains of Israel



1 As for you, son of man, prophesy to the mountains of Israel and say:

O mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord.

2 (Dt 32:13; Eze 25:3) Thus says the Lord God: Because theenemy has said

against you, "Aha! Even the ancient high places are our possession,"

3 (Ps 44:13-14; Jer 18:16) therefore, prophesy and say: Thus says the Lord

God: For good reason they have made you desolate and swallowed you up

on every side so that you might become a possession to the rest

of the nations, and you have been taken up on the lips of talkers

and are an infamy of the people.

4 (Dt 11:11; Eze 34:28) Therefore, O mountains of Israel, hear the word

of the Lord God: Thus says the Lord God to the mountains and to the hills,

to the rivers and to the valleys, to the desolate wastes and to the cities

that are forsaken, which became a prey and derision to the rest

of the nations that are all around;

5 (Eze 36:3; Dt 4:24) therefore thus says the Lord God: Surely in the fire

of My jealousy I have spoken against the rest of the nations and against

all Edom, who have arrogated My land into their possession with the joy of all

their hearts and with a spiteful soul, to cast it out for a prey.

6 (Ps 123:3-4; Eze 34:29) Prophesy therefore concerning the land of Israel

and say to the mountains and to the hills, to the rivers and to the valleys:

Thus says the Lord God: I have spoken in My jealousy and in My fury, because

you have borne the shame of the nations.

7 (Eze 20:5) Therefore, thus says the Lord God: I have lifted up My hand

that surely the nations who are about you shall themselves bear

their invectives.

8 (Isa 27:6; 4:2) But you, O mountains of Israel, you shall shoot forth

your branches and yield your fruit for My people Israel.

For they shall come soon.

9 For I am for you, and I will turn to you, and you shall be tilled and sown.

10 (Eze 36:33; Isa 27:6) And I will multiply men upon you, all the house

of Israel, all of it. And the cities shall be inhabited, and the waste places

shall be built.

11 (Mic 7:14; Jer 30:18) And I will multiply man and beast upon you. And they

shall increase and bring forth fruit. AndI will settle you as you were before

and do better to you than at the beginning. Thus you shall know that

I am the Lord.

12 (Jer 15:7) Indeed, I will cause men to walk upon you, My people Israel,

and they shall possess you, and you shall be their inheritance,

and you shall no longer bereave them of children.

13 (Nu 13:32) Thus says the Lord God: Because they say to you,

"You are a devourer of men and have bereaved your nation of children,"

14 therefore you shall devour men no more or bereave your nation of children

anymore, says the Lord God.

15 (Ps 89:50; Eze 34:29) Nor will I cause men to hear in you the invectives

of the nations anymore, nor shall you bear the reproach of the peoples

anymore, nor shall you cause your nation to fall anymore, says the Lord God.



[1] Also, thou son of man, prophesy unto the mountains of Israel, and say,

Ye mountains of Israel, hear the word of the LORD:

[2] Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because the enemy hath said against you, Aha,

even the ancient high places are ours in possession:

[3] Therefore prophesy and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because they have

made you desolate, and swallowed you up on every side, that ye might be a

possession unto the residue of the heathen, and ye are taken up in the lips

of talkers, and are an infamy of the people:

[4] Therefore, ye mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord GOD; Thus

saith the Lord GOD to the mountains, and to the hills, to the rivers, and to

the valleys, to the desolate wastes, and to the cities that are forsaken,

which became a prey and derision to the residue of the heathen that are

round about;

[5] Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Surely in the fire of my jealousy

have I spoken against the residue of the heathen, and against all Idumea,

which have appointed my land into their possession with the joy of all their

heart, with despiteful minds, to cast it out for a prey.

[6] Prophesy therefore concerning the land of Israel, and say unto the

mountains, and to the hills, to the rivers, and to the valleys, Thus saith

the Lord GOD; Behold, I have spoken in my jealousy and in my fury, because

ye have borne the shame of the heathen:

[7] Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; I have lifted up mine hand, Surely

the heathen that are about you, they shall bear their shame.

[8] But ye, O mountains of Israel, ye shall shoot forth your branches, and

yield your fruit to my people of Israel; for they are at hand to come.

[9] For, behold, I am for you, and I will turn unto you, and ye shall be

tilled and sown:

[10] And I will multiply men upon you, all the house of Israel, even all of

it: and the cities shall be inhabited, and the wastes shall be builded:

[11] And I will multiply upon you man and beast; and they shall increase and

bring fruit: and I will settle you after your old estates, and will do

better unto you than at your beginnings: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

[12] Yea, I will cause men to walk upon you, even my people Israel; and they

shall possess thee, and thou shalt be their inheritance, and thou shalt no

more henceforth bereave them of men.

[13] Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because they say unto you, Thou land devourest

up men, and hast bereaved thy nations;

[14] Therefore thou shalt devour men no more, neither bereave thy nations

any more, saith the Lord GOD.

[15] Neither will I cause men to hear in thee the shame of the heathen any

more, neither shalt thou bear the reproach of the people any more, neither

shalt thou cause thy nations to fall any more, saith the Lord GOD.



The Restoration of Israel



16 Moreover the word of the Lord came to me, saying:

17 (Jer 2:7) Son of man, when the house of Israel lived in their own land,

they defiled it by their ways and their deeds. Their way was before Me

as the uncleanness of a woman in her impurity.

18 (2Ch 34:21; La 2:4) Therefore I poured My fury upon them for the blood

that they had shed upon the land and for their idols with which they

had polluted it.

19 (Dt 28:64; Eze 39:24) And I scattered them among the nations,

and they were dispersed throughout the countries. According to their ways

and according to their deeds, I judged them.

20 (Isa 52:5; Ro 2:24) When they entered the nations, where they went,

they profaned My holy name, because they said of them,

"These are the people of the Lord and have gone out of His land."

21 (Ps 74:18; Isa 48:9) But I had pity for My holy name, which the house

of Israel had profaned among the nations where they went.

22 (Eze 36:32; Dt 7:7-8) Therefore say to the house of Israel,

Thus says the Lord God: I do not do this for your sake, O house of Israel,

but for My holy name's sake which you have profaned among the nations

where you went.

23 (Eze 20:41; Isa 5:16) I will vindicate the sanctity of My great name

which was profaned among the nations, which you have profaned in their midst.

Then the nations shall know that I am the Lord, says the Lord God,

when I shall be sanctified among you before their eyes.

24 (Eze 37:21; 34:13) For I will take you from among the nations and gather

you out of all countries and will bring you into your own land.

25 (Heb 10:22; Ps 51:7) Then I will sprinkle clean water upon you,

and you shall be clean. From all your filthiness and from all your idols,

I will cleanse you.

26 (Ps 51:10; Eze 11:19-20) Also, I will give you a new heart,

and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will take away the stony heart

out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh.

27 (Eze 37:14; Isa 59:21) I will put My Spirit within you and cause you

to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.

28 (Eze 37:27; 11:20) You will dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers.

And you will be My people, and I will be your God.

29 (Hos 2:21-23; Mt 1:21) I will also save you from all your uncleanness.

And I will call for the grain and increase it and lay no famine upon you.

30 (Eze 34:27) I will multiply the fruit of the tree and the increase

of the field so that you shall receive no more reproach of famine

among the nations.

31 (Eze 6:9; 20:43) Then you shall remember your evil ways and your deeds

that were not good, and shall loathe yourselves in your own sight

for your iniquities and your abominations.

32 (Dt 9:5; Eze 36:22) Not for your sake am I doing this, says the Lord God,

let it be known to you. Be ashamed and humiliated for your ways,

O house of Israel!

33 (Eze 36:10; Isa 58:12) Thus says the Lord God: On the day that I cleanse

you from all your iniquities, I will cause you to dwell in the cities,

and the waste places shall be built.

34 The desolate land shall be tilled, whereas it lay desolate in the sight

of all who pass by.

35 (Isa 51:3; Joel 2:3) They shall say, "This land that was desolate

has become like the garden of Eden. And the waste and desolate

and ruined cities have become fenced and inhabited."

36 (Eze 17:24; 22:14) Then the nations that are left all around you shall

know that I the Lord have built the ruined places and planted that which

was desolate. I the Lord have spoken it, and I will do it.

37 (Eze 14:3) Thus says the Lord God: This also I will let the house

of Israel ask Me to do for them: I will increase their men like a flock.

38 (Jn 10:16) As the flock for sacrifices, as the flock of Jerusalem in her

solemn feasts, so shall the waste cities be filled with flocks of men.

Then they shall know that I am the Lord.



[16] Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

[17] Son of man, when the house of Israel dwelt in their own land, they

defiled it by their own way and by their doings: their way was before me as

the uncleanness of a removed woman.

[18] Wherefore I poured my fury upon them for the blood that they had shed

upon the land, and for their idols wherewith they had polluted it:

[19] And I scattered them among the heathen, and they were dispersed through

the countries: according to their way and according to their doings I judged

them.

[20] And when they entered unto the heathen, whither they went, they

profaned my holy name, when they said to them, These are the people of the

LORD, and are gone forth out of his land.

[21] But I had pity for mine holy name, which the house of Israel had

profaned among the heathen, whither they went.

[22] Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I do

not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy name's sake,

which ye have profaned among the heathen, whither ye went.

[23] And I will sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the

heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall

know that I am the LORD, saith the Lord GOD, when I shall be sanctified in

you before their eyes.

[24] For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all

countries, and will bring you into your own land.

not good, and shall lothe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities

and for your abominations.

[32] Not for your sakes do I this, saith the Lord GOD, be it known unto you:

be ashamed and confounded for your own ways, O house of Israel.

[33] Thus saith the Lord GOD; In the day that I shall have cleansed you from

all your iniquities I will also cause you to dwell in the cities, and the

wastes shall be builded.

[34] And the desolate land shall be tilled, whereas it lay desolate in the

sight of all that passed by.

[35] And they shall say, This land that was desolate is become like the

garden of Eden; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are become

fenced, and are inhabited.

[36] Then the heathen that are left round about you shall know that I the

LORD build the ruined places, and plant that that was desolate: I the LORD

have spoken it, and I will do it.

[37] Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will yet for this be inquired of by the

house of Israel, to do it for them; I will increase them with men like a

flock.

[38] As the holy flock, as the flock of Jerusalem in her solemn feasts; so

shall the waste cities be filled with flocks of men: and they shall know

that I am the LORD.



Ezekiel 37



The Valley of Dry Bones



1 (Eze 1:3; 8:3) The hand of the Lord was upon me, and He carried me out

in the Spirit of the Lord and set me down in the midst of the valley which

was full of bones,

2 and He caused me to pass among them all around. And there were very many

in the open valley. And they were very dry.

3 (1Sa 2:6; Dt 32:39) He said to me, "Son of man, can these bones live?"

And I answered, "O Lord God, You know."

4 (Jer 22:29; Eze 36:1) Again He said to me, "Prophesy over these bones

and say to them, O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord.

5 (Ge 2:7; Ps 104:29-30) Thus says the Lord God to these bones:

I will cause breath to enter you so that you live.

6 (Eze 38:23; Joel 2:27) And I will lay sinews upon you and will grow back

flesh upon you and cover you with skin and put breath in you so that

you live. Then you shall know that I am the Lord."

7 (Jer 13:5-7) So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I prophesied,

there was a noise and a shaking. And the bones came together,

bone to its bone.

8 When I looked, the sinews and the flesh grew upon them,

and the skin covered them. But there was no breath in them.

9 Then He said to me, "Prophesy to the wind; prophesy, son of man,

and say to the wind: Thus says the Lord God: Come from the four winds,

O breath, and breathe upon these slain so that they live."

10 (Rev 11:11) So I prophesied as He commanded me, and the breath came

into them, and they lived and stood up upon their feet,

an exceeding great army.

11 (Ps 141:7; Isa 49:14) Then He said to me, "Son of man, these bones

are the whole house of Israel. They say, 'Our bones are dried up,

and our hope is lost. We are cut off completely.'

12 (Isa 26:19; Hos 13:14) Therefore prophesy and say to them,

Thus says the Lord God: Pay attention, O My people, I will open your graves

and cause you to come up out of your graves and bring you into the land

of Israel.

13 Then you shall know that I am the Lord, when I have opened your graves,

O My people, and brought you up out of your graves.

14 (Eze 36:27; Joel 2:28-29) And I shall put My Spirit in you,

and you shall live, and I shall place you in your own land.

Then you shall know that I the Lord have spoken and performed it,

says the Lord."



[Future prophecy most likely a restored Kingdom of Israel post-tribulation]



[1] The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of

Lord GOD, thou knowest.

[4] Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O

ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD.

[5] Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to

enter into you, and ye shall live:

[6] And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and

cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall

know that I am the LORD.

[7] So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a

noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone.

[8] And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and

the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them.

[9] Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and

say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O

breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.

[10] So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and

they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.

[11] Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of

Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are

cut off for our parts.

[12] Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold,

O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your

graves, and bring you into the land of Israel.

[13] And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O

my people, and brought you up out of your graves,

[14] And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place

you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it,

and performed it, saith the LORD.



Israel and Judah Unite



15 The word of the Lord came again to me, saying:

16 (2Ch 15:9; Nu 17:2-3) Moreover, son of man, take one stick and write on it:

"For Judah and for the sons of Israel his companions." Then take another stick

and write on it, "For Joseph the stick of Ephraim and for all the house

of Israel his companions."

17 (Isa 11:13; Jer 50:4) Then join them to one another into one stick

so that they become one in your hand.

18 (Eze 12:9; 24:19) When the sons of your people speak to you, saying,

"Will you not show us what you mean by these things?"

19 (Eze 37:16-17; Zec 10:6) say to them, Thus says the Lord God:

I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim,

and the tribes of Israel his companions, and will put them with it,

with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick;

and they shall be one in My hand.

20 (Eze 12:3) The sticks on which you write shall be in your hand

before their eyes.

21 (Eze 36:24; Jer 29:14) Say to them, Thus says the Lord God:

I will take the sons of Israel from among the nations where they have gone

and will gather them on every side and bring them into their own land.

22 (Jer 3:18; 50:4) And I will make them one nation in the land upon

the mountains of Israel. And one king shall be king over them all.

And they shall be two nations no more, nor shall they be divided

into two kingdoms anymore.

23 (Eze 36:28-29) Nor shall they defile themselves anymore with their idols,

nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions.

But I will save them out of all their dwelling places in which they have

sinned and will cleanse them. So they shall be My people, and I will be

their God.

24 (Isa 40:11; Hos 3:5) David My servant shall be king over them.

And they all shall have one shepherd. They shall also walk in My judgments,

and observe My statutes and do them.

25 (Eze 28:25; Am 9:15) They shall dwell in the land that I have given

to Jacob My servant, in which your fathers lived. And they shall dwell

in it, they and their sons and their son's sons forever. And My servant

David shall be their prince forever.

26 (Isa 55:3; Jer 30:19) Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them.

It shall be an everlasting covenant with them. And I will place them

and multiply them and will set My sanctuary in their midst forevermore.

27 (Eze 37:23; Jn 1:14) My tabernacle also shall be with them.

Indeed, I will be their God and they shall be My people.

28 (Eze 20:12; Ex 31:13) The nations shall know that I the Lord do sanctify

Israel when My sanctuary is in their midst forevermore.



[15] The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying,

[16] Moreover, thou son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it, For

Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another

stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the

house of Israel his companions:

[17] And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one

in thine hand.

[18] And when the children of thy people shall speak unto thee, saying, Wilt

thou not shew us what thou meanest by these?

[19] Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the stick

of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his

fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make

them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand.

[20] And the sticks whereon thou writest shall be in thine hand before

their eyes.

[21] And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the

children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone, and will

gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land:

[22] And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of

Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more

two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all:

[23] Neither shall they defile themselves any more with their idols, nor

with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions: but I

will save them out of all their dwellingplaces, wherein they have sinned,

and will cleanse them: so shall they be my people, and I will be their God.

everlasting covenant with them: and I will place them, and multiply them,

and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore.

[27] My tabernacle also shall be with them: yea, I will be their God, and

they shall be my people.

[28] And the heathen shall know that I the LORD do sanctify Israel, when my

sanctuary shall be in the midst of them for evermore.

The first grader called the number for emergency dispatch. The 9-1-1 operator

unspoken, throughout Scripture he declared that God would always be with him,

hearing and answering his prayers.



Our confidence in God's constancy allows us to process our fickle feelings,

while affirming there's no request too big or too small for the unchanging

One. He hears us, cares for us, and answers every prayer we utter.

Separation is a fact of human life. Relationships disintegrate,

children grow up, loved ones die, husbands and wives divorce,

friends changes and drift apart. We may resist change and separation,

but we must deal with them nevertheless.

Separation sometimes is a natural result of growth and development;

sometimes it is a violent, cataclysmic shaking of an individual's life.

2 lifelong friends go separate ways to college or into future careers;

a church splits over doctrinal differences; a wife finds out a hidden

secret in her husband's past.

But with God, there is no separation, no death, no breaking of vows,

no growing beyond the relationship. Nothing, says Paul, can separate

us from the love of God. A skeleton in my closet, once revealed, may

cost me the trust of those I thought were my friends. But God knows

all my past, all my sin; he forgives, and it cannot separate me from him.

My present personal struggles may cause trouble in my job and result in

the loss of that income, but God understands what I'm going through,

and even when I'm angry at him, he can take it without drawing away

or striking back. My present problems cannot separate me from the Lord.

And God knows, too, the plan he has established for my future. I cannot

walk away from him, grow beyond my need for him, or outrun him into

tomorrow.

She may separate me from my awareness of God's presence in my life,

but it cannot set me beyond his reach. There is no power that is greater

than God's love, and no place I can go that will separate me

from that love.

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month

and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days

of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that

usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,

of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be

decorated and festivals will be held.

For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the

distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of

Islam.

You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",

which means Blessed Eid!"

Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you

know, and Muslims around the world:

- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions

in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about

unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such

movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three

decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim

relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.

32 (Eze 32:27) Though I have caused a terror of him in the land

of the living, yet he shall be laid in the midst of the uncircumcised

with those who are slain with the sword, even Pharaoh and all his multitude,

says the Lord God.



[17] It came to pass also in the twelfth year, in the fifteenth day of the

month, that the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

[18] Son of man, wail for the multitude of Egypt, and cast them down, even

her, and the daughters of the famous nations, unto the nether parts of the

earth, with them that go down into the pit.

[19] Whom dost thou pass in beauty? go down, and be thou laid with the

uncircumcised.

[20] They shall fall in the midst of them that are slain by the sword: she

is delivered to the sword: draw her and all her multitudes.

[21] The strong among the mighty shall speak to him out of the midst of hell

with them that help him: they are gone down, they lie uncircumcised, slain

by the sword.

[22] Asshur is there and all her company: his graves are about him: all of

them slain, fallen by the sword:

[23] Whose graves are set in the sides of the pit, and her company is round

about her grave: all of them slain, fallen by the sword, which caused

terror in the land of the living.

[24] There is Elam and all her multitude round about her grave, all of them

slain, fallen by the sword, which are gone down uncircumcised into the

nether parts of the earth, which caused their terror in the land of the

living; yet have they borne their shame with them that go down to the pit.

[25] They have set her a bed in the midst of the slain with all her

multitude: her graves are round about him: all of them uncircumcised, slain

by the sword: though their terror was caused in the land of the living, yet

have they borne their shame with them that go down to the pit: he is put in

the midst of them that be slain.

[26] There is Meshech, Tubal, and all her multitude: her graves are round

about him: all of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword, though they

caused their terror in the land of the living.

[27] And they shall not lie with the mighty that are fallen of the

uncircumcised, which are gone down to hell with their weapons of war: and

they have laid their swords under their heads, but their iniquities shall be

upon their bones, though they were the terror of the mighty in the land of

the living.

[28] Yea, thou shalt be broken in the midst of the uncircumcised, and shalt

lie with them that are slain with the sword.

[29] There is Edom, her kings, and all her princes, which with their might

are laid by them that were slain by the sword: they shall lie with the

uncircumcised, and with them that go down to the pit.

[30] There be the princes of the north, all of them, and all the Zidonians,

which are gone down with the slain; with their terror they are ashamed of

their might; and they lie uncircumcised with them that be slain by the

sword, and bear their shame with them that go down to the pit.

[31] Pharaoh shall see them, and shall be comforted over all his multitude,

even Pharaoh and all his army slain by the sword, saith the Lord GOD.

[32] For I have caused my terror in the land of the living: and he shall be

laid in the midst of the uncircumcised with them that are slain with the

sword, even Pharaoh and all his multitude, saith the Lord GOD.



Ezekiel 33:1-20



Renewal of Ezekiel's Call



1 Again the word of the Lord came to me, saying:

2 (Eze 3:11; 33:17) Son of man, speak to the children of your people

and say to them: If I bring a sword upon a land, and the people of the land

take a man from among them and set him for their watchman,

3 (Hos 8:1; Ne 4:18) and he sees the sword come upon the land

and blows the trumpet and warns the people,

4 (Eze 18:13; 2Ch 25:16) then whoever hears the sound of the trumpet

and does not take warning, and a sword comes and takes him away,

his blood shall be upon his own head.

5 (Ex 9:19-21; Heb 11:7) He heard the sound of the trumpet yet did not

take warning. His blood shall be upon himself. But he who takes warning

delivers his soul.

6 (Eze 18:20; 18:24) But if the watchman sees the sword come

and does not blow the trumpet and the people are not warned

and a sword comes and takes a person from among them,

he is taken away in his iniquity. But his blood I will require

from the hand of the watchman.

7 (Jer 26:2; Isa 62:6) Now as for you, son of man: I have set you a watchman

to the house of Israel. Therefore you shall hear a word from My mouth

and warn them from Me.

8 (Eze 18:4; 33:14) When I say to the wicked, "O wicked man,

you shall surely die," and you do not speak to warn the wicked from his way,

that wicked man shall die in his iniquity. But his blood I will require

from your hand.

9 (Eze 3:19; 3:21) Nevertheless, if you on your part warn the wicked to turn

from his way and he does not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity.

But you have delivered your soul.

[5] He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood

shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul.

[6] But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and

the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among

them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the

watchman's hand.

[7] So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of

Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me.

[8] When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou

dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall

die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.

[9] Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he

do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast

delivered thy soul.



God's Justice and Mercy



10 (Lev 26:39; Isa 49:14) Therefore as for you, son of man, say to the house

of Israel: Thus you have spoken, saying, "Surely our transgressions

and our sins are upon us, and we pine away in them. How should we then live?"

11 (Eze 18:23; 2Pe 3:9) Say to them: As I live, says the Lord God, I have

no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that the wicked turn

from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why will you die,

O house of Israel?

12 (2Ch 7:14; Eze 18:21) Therefore you, son of man, say to the sons of your

people: The righteousness of a righteous man shall not deliver him in the day

of his transgression. As for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not fall

by it in the day that he turns from his wickedness. Nor shall the righteous

be able to live for his righteousness in the day that he sins.

13 (Eze 18:24; Heb 10:38) When I say to the righteous that he shall surely

live and he so trusts in his righteousness that he commits iniquity,

all his righteousness shall not be remembered. But for that iniquity

of his that he has committed, he shall die.

14 (Eze 18:27; Isa 55:7; Jer 18:7-8) Again, when I say to the wicked,

"You shall surely die," and he turns from his sin and does that which

is lawful and right,

15 (Eze 20:11; Lk 19:8) if the wicked man restores a pledge, gives back

what he had robbed, walks in the statutes of life without committing

iniquity, he shall surely live. He shall not die.

16 (Eze 18:22; Isa 43:25) None of his sins that he has committed shall be

remembered against him. He has done what is lawful and right.

He shall surely live.

17 (Eze 18:25; 18:29) Yet the sons of your people say, "The way of the Lord

is not right," when their way is not right.

18 (Eze 33:12-13) When the righteous turns from his righteousness

and commits iniquity, he shall die by it.

19 But if the wicked turns from his wickedness and does that which is lawful

and right, he shall live by them.

20 (Eze 18:25) Yet you say, "The way of the Lord is not right." O house

[10] Therefore, O thou son of man, speak unto the house of Israel; Thus ye

from his sin, and do that which is lawful and right;

[20] Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. O ye house of Israel, I

will judge you every one after his ways.



The Fall of Jerusalem



21 (2Ki 25:10; Eze 1:2) In the twelfth year of our captivity,

in the tenth month, on the fifth day of the month, one who had escaped

out of Jerusalem came to me, saying, "The city is taken."

22 (Eze 1:3; 3:26-27) Now the hand of the Lord was upon me in the evening,

before those who escaped came. And He opened my mouth at the time

they came to me in the morning. Therefore my mouth was opened

and I was speechless no more.

23 Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying:

24 (Isa 51:2; Eze 33:27) Son of man, those who inhabit these wastes

in the land of Israel are saying, "Abraham was one, yet he inherited the land.

But to us who are many, the land has been given for an inheritance."

25 (Ge 9:4; Dt 12:16) Therefore say to them, Thus says the Lord God:

You eat meat with the blood in it and lift up your eyes toward

your idols as you shed blood. Should you then possess the land?

26 (Ge 27:40; Mic 2:1-2) You rely upon your sword, you work abominations,

and every one of you defiles his neighbour's wife. Should you then possess

the land?

27 (1Sa 13:6; Jer 42:22) Thus you shall say to them, Thus says the Lord God:

As I live, surely those who are in the ruins shall fall by the sword,

and him who is in the open field I will give to the beasts to be devoured,

and those who are in the forts and in the caves shall die of pestilence.

28 (Eze 7:24; Jer 44:2) For I will make the land a desolation and a waste,

and the pomp of her strength shall cease. And the mountains of Israel

shall be desolate so that none shall pass through.

29 (Eze 6:7) Then shall they know that I am the Lord, when I make the land

a desolation and a waste because of all their abominations which they have

committed.

30 (Isa 29:13; 58:2) As for you, son of man, the sons of your people

are talking about you by the walls and in the doorways of the houses;

and they speak to one another, each saying to his brother,

"Come now, and hear what the word is that comes from the Lord."

before you as My people, and they hear your words; but they will not do them.

For they do the lustful desires in their mouth, and their heart goes after

their covetousness.

32 (Mk 6:20) You are to them as a sensual song of one who has a pleasant

voice and can play well on an instrument. For they hear your words,

but they do not do them.

33 (Jer 28:9; Eze 2:5) When this comes to pass, and it is coming to pass,

then shall they know that a prophet has been among them.

Ezekiel 34



A Prophecy Against Israel's Shepherds



1 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying:

2 (Jer 23:1; Ps 78:71-72) Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds

of Israel. Prophesy and say to those shepherds, Thus says the Lord God:

Woe to the shepherds of Israel who feed themselves! Should not

the shepherds feed the flock?

3 (Zec 11:16; 11:5) You eat the fat and clothe yourself with the wool;

you kill those who are fed without feeding the flock.

4 (Ex 1:13-14; Eze 34:16) The diseased you have not strengthened,

nor have you healed that which was sick, nor have you bound up

that which was broken, nor have you brought back that which was driven away,

nor have you sought that which was lost. But with force and with cruelty

you have subjugated them.

5 (Mt 9:36; 1Ki 22:17) They were scattered because there was no shepherd.

And they became meat to all the beasts of the field and were scattered.

6 (Ps 142:4; 1Pe 2:25) My sheep wandered through all the mountains

and upon every high hill. Indeed, My flock was scattered upon

all the face of the earth, and no one searched or sought after them.

7 Therefore, you shepherds, hear the word of the Lord:

8 As I live, says the Lord God, surely because My flock became a prey,

and My flock even became meat to every beast of the field, because

there was no shepherd, nor did My shepherds search for My flock;

but the shepherds fed themselves and did not feed My flock,

9 therefore, you shepherds, hear the word of the Lord.

10 (Jer 21:13; Eze 13:8) Thus says the Lord God: I am against the shepherds.

And I will require My flock from their hand and cause them to cease from

feeding the flock. Nor shall the shepherds feed themselves anymore,

for I will deliver My flock from their mouth so that they may not be

meat for them.

fed: but ye feed not the flock.

brought again that which was driven away, neither have ye sought that which

was lost; but with force and with cruelty have ye ruled them.

[5] And they were scattered, because there is no shepherd: and they became

meat to all the beasts of the field, when they were scattered.

flock; neither shall the shepherds feed themselves any more; for I will

deliver my flock from their mouth, that they may not be meat for them.



The True Shepherd



11 (Lk 19:10) For thus says the Lord God: I, even I, will search

for My sheep and seek them out.

12 (Eze 30:3; Jer 13:16) As a shepherd seeks out his flock in the day

that he is among his sheep that are scattered, so I will seek out My sheep

and will deliver them out of all the places where they have been scattered

in a cloudy and dark day.

13 (Eze 11:17) I will bring them out from the peoples, and gather them

from the countries, and bring them to their own land, and feed them upon

the mountains of Israel by the rivers and in all the inhabited

places of the country.

14 (Jn 10:9; Jer 31:12-14) I will feed them in a good pasture,

and upon the high mountains of Israel their grazing ground shall be.

There they shall lie on good grazing ground, and in a rich pasture

they shall feed upon the mountains of Israel.

15 I will feed My flock, and I will cause them to lie down, says the Lord God.

16 (Isa 10:16; 49:26) I will seek that which was lost and bring back

that which was driven away and bind up that which was broken

and will strengthen that which was sick. But I will destroy the fat

and the strong. I will feed them with judgment.

17 (Mt 25:32-33; Eze 34:20-22) As for you, O My flock, thus says

the Lord God: I will judge between sheep and cattle, between the rams

and the male goats.

18 (Nu 16:9; 16:13) Does it seem a small thing to you to have eaten up

the good pasture, that you must tread down with your feet the rest

of your pastures? Or that you should drink of the clear waters,

that you must foul the rest with your feet?

19 And as for My flock, they eat that which you have trodden with your feet,

and they drink that which you have fouled with your feet.

20 Therefore thus says the Lord God to them: I, even I, will judge between

the fat sheep and between the lean sheep.

21 (Dt 33:17; Lk 13:14-16) Because you have thrust with side

and with shoulder, and pushed all the diseased with your horns

until you have scattered them abroad,

22 (Ps 72:12-14; Jer 23:2-3) therefore I will save My flock, and they shall

no more be a prey. And I will judge between one sheep and another.

23 (Isa 40:11; Jn 10:11) I will set up one shepherd over them,

and he shall feed them, even My servant David. He shall feed

them himself and be their shepherd.

24 (Eze 36:28; 37:27) I the Lord will be their God, and My servant David

shall be prince among them. I the Lord have spoken.

25 (Isa 11:6-9; Lev 26:6) I will make with them a covenant of peace

and will cause the wild beasts to cease from the land so that they dwell

safely in the wilderness and sleep in the woods.

26 (Ge 12:2; Isa 44:3) I will make them and the places all around My hill

a blessing. And I will cause the showers to come down in their season.

They shall be showers of blessing.

27 (Jer 30:8; Lev 26:13) The tree of the field shall yield its fruit,

and the ground shall yield its increase, and they shall be safe in their land.

Then they shall know that I am the Lord, when I have broken the bands

of their yoke and delivered them out of the hand of those who enslaved them.

28 (Jer 30:10; Eze 34:25) They shall no more be a prey to the nations,

nor shall the beast of the land devour them. But they shall dwell safely

and no one shall make them afraid.

29 (Eze 36:29; Isa 4:2) I will raise up for them a planting place of renown,

and no more shall they be consumed with hunger in the land, nor shall

they bear the shame of the nations anymore.

30 (Ps 46:7; 46:11) Thus shall they know that I, the Lord their God,

am with them, and that they, the house of Israel, are My people,

says the Lord God.

you are men, and I am your God, says the Lord God.



[11] For thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I, even I, will both search my

sheep, and seek them out.

Life Among the Believers



42 (Ac 1:14; 20:7; 2:46) They continued steadfastly in the apostles'

teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread and in the prayers.

43 Fear came to every soul. And many wonders and signs were done through

the apostles.

44 (Ac 4:32) All who believed were together and had all things in common.

45 They sold their property and goods and distributed them to all,

according to their need.

46 (Ac 5:42; 20:7) And continuing daily with one mind in the temple,

and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness

and simplicity of heart,

47 (Ac 11:24; 2:41) praising God and having favor with all the people.

And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.



[42] And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship,

and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

[43] And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by

the apostles.

[44] And all that believed were together, and had all things common;

[45] And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as

every man had need.

[46] And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking

bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness

of heart,

[47] Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added

to the church daily such as should be saved.



As our party approached, my wife and I started planning. With many people

coming, should we pay a caterer to cook? If we do the cooking ourselves,

should we buy a barbeque? With a small chance of rain on the day, should we

buy a tent too? Soon our party was getting expensive, and even a little

antisocial. By trying to provide everything ourselves, we were missing an

opportunity to receive the help of others.



The Bible's vision of community is one of both giving and receiving. Even

before the fall, Adam needed help (Genesis 2:18), and we're called to seek

others' advice (Proverbs 15:22) and share our burdens (Galatians 6:2). The

early church held "everything in common," benefiting from each other's

"property and possessions" (Acts 2:44-45). Instead of living independently,

they shared, borrowed, gave, and received in beautiful interdependence.



We ended up asking guests to bring a salad or dessert to our party. Our

neighbours brought their barbeque, and a friend brought his tent. Asking for

help enabled us to forge closer relationships, and the food people made

brought variety and delight. In an age like ours, being self-sufficient can be

a source of pride. But God gives His grace "to the humble" (James 4:6),

including those who humbly ask for help.

For many who have grown up in homes where the father was absent, or when

present, abusive or silent, the scenario of Jimmy and his father may

seem unrealistic. Often we aren't given the right by our parents to ask

what we want, to communicate openly, to express our needs and desires.

But god clearly indicates that no matter what our human families have been

like, in his family there are no barriers to belonging,

to open communications. When we commit our lives to Christ and submit to his

lordship, we have the right to become the sons and daughters of God.

In Christ, we have the right to approach him, to pray, to seek wisdom,

to ask advice, to make requests, to verbalise our needs and desires. We don't

have to be afraid of sounding stupid or being rejected, because in Christ

we belong to him, and he loves us.

The KJV uses the word "power" in verse 12 - "to them gave he power to become

the sons of God." Power implies ability, that we are equipped by the Spirit

to be children of the King. We have the right and we have the power to become

who God has called us to be - his children.

Though the original community of Muslims was primarily composed of

newcomers from Turkey, Pakistan, Bangladesh and India, continued immigration

has further diversified this community. Anf it is said thay Arabic

is the second most spoken language in Halifax.



while conservative estimates place the number of Muslims at almost 15000

in 2014, the Imama of a primary Halifax mosque estimates their population

somewhere between 25000 to 30000.

and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days

of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that

usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,

of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be

decorated and festivals will be held.

For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the

distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of

Islam.

You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",

which means Blessed Eid!"

Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you

know, and Muslims around the world:

- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions

in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about

unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such

movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three

decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim

relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.



Acts 2:12-17 : 17 12 They were all amazed and perplexed, saying to each other,

"What does this mean?"

13 (1Co 14:23) Others mocking said, "These men are full of new wine."

nor any grieving thorn of all that are round about them, that despised them;

and they shall know that I am the Lord GOD.



The Future Blessing for Israel



25 (Ps 106:47; Jer 23:8) Thus says the Lord God: When I gather

the house of Israel from the peoples among whom they are scattered

and display My holiness in them in the sight of the nations,

then they shall dwell in their land that I have given to My servant Jacob.

26 (Eze 28:22; 28:24) They shall dwell safely in it and shall build houses

and plant vineyards and dwell securely when I execute judgments on all those

around them who despise them. Then they shall know that

I am the Lord their God.



[25] Thus saith the Lord GOD; When I shall have gathered the house of Israel

from the people among whom they are scattered, and shall be sanctified in

them in the sight of the heathen, then shall they dwell in their land that I

have given to my servant Jacob.

[26] And they shall dwell safely therein, and shall build houses, and plant

vineyards; yea, they shall dwell with confidence, when I have executed

judgments upon all those that despise them round about them; and they shall

know that I am the LORD their God.



Ezekiel 29:1-16



A Prophecy Against Egypt



1 (Eze 26:1; 29:17) In the tenth year, in the tenth month,

on the twelfth day of the month, the word of the Lord came to me, saying:

2 (Eze 6:2; Jer 44:30) Son of man, set your face against Pharaoh king of Egypt

and prophesy against him and against all Egypt.

3 (Isa 27:1; Eze 32:2) Speak, and say, Thus says the Lord God:

I am against you, Pharaoh king of Egypt,

the great dragon that lies in the midst of his rivers,

which has said, "My Nile is my own,

and I myself have made it."

4 (2Ki 19:28; Eze 38:4) But I will put hooks in your jaws,

and will cause the fish of your rivers to stick to your scales,

and will bring you up out of the midst of your rivers,

and all the fish of your rivers shall stick to your scales.

5 (Jer 7:33; 8:2) I will abandon you to the wilderness,

you and all the fish of your rivers;

you shall fall upon the open field;

you shall not be brought together or gathered.

I have given you for food

to the beasts of the field and to the fowl of the heavens.

6 (2Ki 18:21; Isa 36:6) All the inhabitants of Egypt shall know

that I am the Lord, because they have been

a staff of reed to the house of Israel.

7 (Eze 17:15-17) When they took hold of you by your hand,

you broke and tore all their hands. And when they leaned upon you,

you broke and made all their legs shake.

8 (Eze 14:17) Therefore thus says the Lord God: I will bring a sword

upon you, and cut off man and beast out of you.

9 (Eze 29:3; Pr 16:18) The land of Egypt shall become a desolation

and waste. Then they shall know that I am the Lord.

Because you said, "The Nile is mine, and I have made it,"

10 (Eze 30:12) therefore, I am against you and against your rivers,

and I will make the land of Egypt an utter waste and desolation,

from Migdol to Syene, as far as the border of Ethiopia.

11 (Eze 32:13; Jer 43:11-12) No foot of man shall pass through it,

nor foot of beast pass through it, nor shall it be inhabited for forty years.

12 (Jer 46:19; Eze 30:7) Thus I will make the land of Egypt desolate

in the midst of the countries that are desolate, and her cities

among the cities that are laid waste shall be desolate for forty years.

And I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations

and will disperse them among the countries.

13 (Isa 19:22; Jer 46:26) For thus says the Lord God:

At the end of forty years I will gather the Egyptians from the peoples

wherever they were scattered.

14 (Eze 30:14; Isa 11:11) And I will turn the fortunes of Egypt

and will cause them to return into the land of Pathros,

into the land of their origin, and there they shall be a debased kingdom.

15 (Eze 30:13; Zec 10:11) It shall be the basest of the kingdoms,

and it shall exalt itself no more above the nations. For I will diminish them

so that they shall rule over the nations no more.

16 (Hos 8:13; Isa 20:5) It shall be the confidence of the house of Israel

no more, bringing to mind the iniquity of their having turned to Egypt.

But they shall know that I am the Lord God.

through it, neither shall it be inhabited forty years.

[12] And I will make the land of Egypt desolate in the midst of the

countries that are desolate, and her cities among the cities that are laid

the nations, and will disperse them through the countries.

[13] Yet thus saith the Lord GOD; At the end of forty years will I gather

the Egyptians from the people whither they were scattered:

[14] And I will bring again the captivity of Egypt, and will cause them to

return into the land of Pathros, into the land of their habitation; and they

shall be there a base kingdom.

[15] It shall be the basest of the kingdoms; neither shall it exalt itself

any more above the nations: for I will diminish them, that they shall no

more rule over the nations.

[16] And it shall be no more the confidence of the house of Israel, which

bringeth their iniquity to remembrance, when they shall look after them: but

they shall know that I am the Lord GOD.



Babylonia to Plunder Egypt



17 (Eze 29:1) In the twenty-seventh year, in the first month,

on the first day of the month, the word of the Lord came to me, saying:

18 (Jer 27:6; 25:9) Son of man, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon

caused his army to labor hard against Tyre. Every head was made bald,

and every shoulder was peeled. Yet he and his army had no wages from Tyre

for the labor that he had done against it.

19 (Jer 43:10-13; Eze 30:24-25) Therefore thus says the Lord God:

I will give the land of Egypt to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon.

And he shall carry off her wealth and take her spoil and take her prey.

And it shall be wages for his army.

20 (Isa 10:6-7; Jer 25:9) I have given him the land of Egypt

for his labor with which he labored against it, because they acted for Me,

says the Lord God.

21 (Ps 132:17; Eze 24:27) On that day I will cause the horn of the house

of Israel to spring forth, and I will open your mouth in their midst.

Then they shall know that I am the Lord.



[17] And it came to pass in the seven and twentieth year, in the first

month, in the first day of the month, the word of the LORD came unto me,

saying,

[18] Son of man, Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon caused his army to serve a

great service against Tyrus: every head was made bald, and every shoulder

was peeled: yet had he no wages, nor his army, for Tyrus, for the service

that he had served against it:

[19] Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will give the land of

Egypt unto Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; and he shall take her multitude,

and take her spoil, and take her prey; and it shall be the wages for his

army.

[20] I have given him the land of Egypt for his labour wherewith he served

against it, because they wrought for me, saith the Lord GOD.

[21] In that day will I cause the horn of the house of Israel to bud forth,

and I will give thee the opening of the mouth in the midst of them; and they

shall know that I am the LORD.



Ezekiel 30:1-19

1 The word of the Lord came to me again, saying:

2 (Isa 13:6; 15:2) Son of man, prophesy and say, Thus says the Lord God:

Howl,

"Woe to the day!"

3 (Eze 7:7; 7:12) For the day is near,

even the day of the Lord is near,

a cloudy day,

it shall be the time of doom for the nations.

4 (Eze 29:19; 29:8) The sword shall come upon Egypt,

and great pain shall be in Ethiopia,

when the slain fall in Egypt,

they take away her wealth,

and her foundations are broken down.

5 (Jer 25:20; Eze 27:10) Ethiopia, and Libya, and Lydia, all Arabia,

Kub, and the men of the land that is in league shall fall with them

by the sword.

6 (Eze 29:10; Isa 20:3-6) Thus says the Lord:

Indeed, those who uphold Egypt shall fall,

and the pride of her power shall come down.

From Migdol to Syene

they shall fall in her by the sword,

says the Lord God.

7 (Eze 29:12; Jer 25:18-26) They shall be desolate

in the midst of the countries that are desolate,

and her cities shall be

in the midst of the cities that are wasted.

8 (Eze 29:6; Ps 58:11) They shall know that I am the Lord

when I have set a fire in Egypt

and when all her helpers are destroyed.

9 (Isa 18:1-2; 23:5) In that day messengers shall go forth from Me

in ships to make the careless Ethiopians afraid, and great pain shall

come upon them as in the day of Egypt. For it is coming!

10 (Eze 29:19) Thus says the Lord God:

I will also make the multitude of Egypt to cease

by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon.

11 (Eze 28:7) He and his people with him, the terrible of the nations,

shall be brought to destroy the land;

and they shall draw their swords against Egypt,

and fill the land with the slain.

12 (Eze 29:3) I will make the rivers dry,

and sell the land into the hand of the wicked;

and I will make the land waste and all that is in it,

by the hand of strangers.

I, the Lord, have spoken.

13 (Zec 10:11; Jer 2:16) Thus says the Lord God:

I will also destroy the idols,

and I will cause their images to cease from Memphis;

and no more shall there be a prince of the land of Egypt.

And I will put a fear in the land of Egypt.

14 (Jer 46:25; Eze 29:14) I will make Pathros desolate,

and will set fire in Zoan,

and will execute judgments in Thebes.

15 I will pour out My fury upon Pelusium,

the strength of Egypt;

and I will cut off the multitude of Thebes.

16 I will set fire in Egypt;

Pelusium shall have great pain,

and Thebes shall be rent asunder,

and Memphis shall have distresses daily.

17 (Ge 41:45) The young men of Heliopolis and of Bubastis

shall fall by the sword,

and the women shall go into captivity.

when I break there the yokes of Egypt.

And the pomp of her strength shall cease in her;

as for her, a cloud shall cover her,

and her daughters shall go into captivity.

and they shall know that I am the Lord.

these cities shall go into captivity.

[18] At Tehaphnehes also the day shall be darkened, when I shall break there

the yokes of Egypt: and the pomp of her strength shall cease in her: as for

her, a cloud shall cover her, and her daughters shall go into captivity.

[19] Thus will I execute judgments in Egypt: and they shall know that I am

the LORD.



A Prophecy Against Pharaoh



20 (Eze 26:1; 29:17) In the eleventh year, in the first month,

on the seventh day of the month, the word of the Lord came to me, saying:

21 (Jer 30:13; 46:11) Son of man, I have broken the arm of Pharaoh king

of Egypt. And it has not been bound up to be healed or wrapped with

a bandage to make it strong to hold the sword.

22 (2Ki 24:7; Ps 37:17) Therefore thus says the Lord God: I am against

Pharaoh king of Egypt and will break his arms, both the strong

and the broken. And I will cause the sword to fall out of his hand.

23 (Eze 30:17-18; 30:26) I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations

and disperse them among the countries.

24 (Eze 30:25; Zep 2:12) For I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon

and put My sword in his hand. But I will break the arms of Pharaoh so that

he groans before him with the groanings of a wounded man.

25 So I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, but the arms

of Pharaoh shall fall down. Then they shall know that I am the Lord

when I put My sword into the hand of the king of Babylon

and he stretches it out upon the land of Egypt.

26 (Eze 29:12) When I scatter the Egyptians among the nations

and disperse them among the countries, then they shall know

that I am the Lord.



[20] And it came to pass in the eleventh year, in the first month, in the

seventh day of the month, that the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

[21] Son of man, I have broken the arm of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and, lo, it

shall not be bound up to be healed, to put a roller to bind it, to make it

strong to hold the sword.

[22] Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against Pharaoh king of

Egypt, and will break his arms, the strong, and that which was broken; and I

will cause the sword to fall out of his hand.

[23] And I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and will disperse

them through the countries.

[24] And I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, and put my sword

in his hand: but I will break Pharaoh's arms, and he shall groan before him

with the groanings of a deadly wounded man.

[25] But I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, and the arms of

Pharaoh shall fall down; and they shall know that I am the LORD, when I

shall put my sword into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall

stretch it out upon the land of Egypt.

[26] And I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and disperse them

among the countries; and they shall know that I am the LORD.



Ezekiel 31



Pharaoh to Be Slain



1 (Eze 30:20; Jer 52:5-6) In the eleventh year, in the third month,

on the first day of the month, the word of the Lord came to me, saying:

2 (Eze 29:19; 30:10) Son of man, speak to Pharaoh king of Egypt,

and to his multitude:

Whom are you like in your greatness?

3 (Isa 10:33-34; Da 4:10) Assyria was a cedar in Lebanon,

with fair branches and shade for a forest,

and high stature;

and its top was among the clouds.

4 (Eze 17:5; 17:8) The waters made it great;

the deep set it up on high.

With its rivers it continually ran

all around its plants,

and sent out its little rivers

to all the trees of the field.

5 (Da 4:11; Eze 17:5) Therefore its height was exalted

above all the trees of the field,

and its boughs were multiplied,

and its branches became long

because of the abundance of water, as it spread them out.

6 (Eze 17:23; Da 4:12) All the fowl of heaven

made their nests in its boughs;

and under its branches

all the beasts of the field gave birth;

and under its shadow

all great nations lived.

7 Thus it was fair in its greatness,

in the length of its branches,

for its roots were

by many waters.

8 (Eze 28:13; Ge 13:10) The cedars in the garden of God

could not match it;

the fir trees

were not like its boughs,

and the chestnut trees

were not like its branches;

nor was any tree in the garden of God

like it in its beauty.

9 (Ge 13:10; Isa 51:3) I made it beautiful with an abundance of branches,

so that all the trees of Eden envied it,

that were in the garden of God.

10 (Eze 28:17; Da 5:20) Therefore, thus says the Lord God: Because

it is lifted up in height and has shot up its top among the clouds,

and its heart is arrogant in its height,

11 (Dt 18:12; Eze 32:11-12) I therefore will deliver it into the hand

of the mighty one of the nations. He shall surely deal with it.

I have driven it out for its wickedness.

12 (Eze 28:7; 35:8; 30:11) Aliens, the tyrants of the nations have

cut it off and left it. Upon the mountains and in all the valleys

its branches have fallen, and its boughs have been broken

by all the rivers of the land. And all the peoples of the earth

have gone down from its shadow and have left it.

13 (Eze 32:4; Isa 18:6) Upon its ruin all the fowl of the heavens

shall remain, and all the beasts of the field shall be

upon its fallen branches

14 (Ps 82:7; Eze 26:20) to the end that none of all the trees

by the waters exalt themselves for their height,

or shoot up their tops among the clouds, or their well-watered trees stand up

in their height. For they all have been delivered to death, to the nether

parts of the earth in the midst of the sons of men, with those who go down

to the pit.

15 Thus says the Lord God: On the day when it went down to Sheol

I caused mourning. I covered the deep over it and restrained its rivers,

and its many waters were stayed. And I caused Lebanon to mourn for it,

and all the trees of the field fainted for it.

16 (Isa 14:15; 14:8; Eze 26:15) I made the nations to shake at the sound

of its fall when I cast him down to Sheol with those who descend into the pit.

And all the well-watered trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon,

were comforted in the nether parts of the earth.

17 (Ps 9:17; Eze 31:6) They also went down into Sheol with it to those

who were slain with the sword. And those who were its power lived

under its shadow in the midst of the nations.

18 (Eze 32:19; 32:21; 28:10) To whom are you thus like in glory

and in greatness among the trees of Eden? Yet you shall be brought down

with the trees of Eden to the nether parts of the earth. You shall lie

in the midst of the uncircumcised with those who were slain by the sword.

This is Pharaoh and all his multitude, says the Lord God.

branches did all the beasts of the field bring forth their young, and under

his shadow dwelt all great nations.

new heavens and a new earth;

in that which I create;

for I create Jerusalem for rejoicing

and her people for joy.

19 (Isa 35:10; 25:8) I will rejoice in Jerusalem

and be glad in My people;

and the voice of weeping shall no longer be heard in her,

nor the voice of crying.

20 (Dt 4:40; Job 5:26) There shall no longer be

an infant who lives only a few days

For the child shall die

a hundred years old,

but the sinner being a hundred years old

"I can't believe what I'm seeing!" My wife, Cari, called me to the window and

pointed out an adult doe in the woods just outside our fence, bounding from

one end of our yard to the other. Keeping pace beside her inside the fence

were our large dogs, but they weren't barking. Back and forth they went,

for nearly an hour. When the doe paused and faced them, the dogs stopped also,

straightening their front legs and crouching back on their haunches, ready to

run again. This wasn't predator and prey behavior; the doe and the dogs were

playing together, enjoying each other's company!



To Cari and me, their morning romp provided a picture of the coming kingdom of

God. The prophet Isaiah proclaims God's promise of that kingdom with the words,

"See, I will create new heavens and a new earth" (Isaiah 65:17). He goes on to

say that "the wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat

straw like the ox" (v. 25). No more predator, no more prey. Just friends.



Isaiah’s words seem to show us that there will be animals in God's eternal

kingdom; they also point to what God is preparing for His creation, especially

"for those who love him" (1 Corinthians 2:9). What a beautiful place that will

be! As we trust in Him by faith, God lifts our eyes to the reality that's

coming: peace and safety in His presence forever!

In the opening scenes of The Glenn Miller Story, Glenn Miller, then a

struggling musician trying to find an audience for his music, enters

a pawn shop. He has hocked his trombone for rent money, and has come

to redeem it. Paying the pawn broker the money, he buys back his own

instrument and leaves the shop, indicating that he will probably

be back again.

In Eph 1:7. Paul says that in Christ "we have redemption through

His blood and the forgiveness of sin according to the riches of His grace."

We belonged to God from the beginning; he made us and stamped

his image upon us. But through sin we were lost, pawned to the

world's system and the Enemy of our souls.

But God redeemed us; he "bought us back" with the most valuable

currency in the universe - the blood of his own Son, Jesus Christ.

He did not resent the bargain, or question whether we were worth

such a price. He freely gave Jesus in trade to ransom the souls

of the people he created and loved.

Sometimes in Christian circles we get so caught up in religious

jargon that we forget what redemption really means. Gog did not have

to "get us out of hock." He was not compelled to buy us back when we

had sold ourselves to sin. But because of his love, and with no

deserving on our part, he chose to pay an enormous price to set us free.

We are redeemed, bought back, by the One who owned us in the first place.

Though the original community of Muslims was primarily composed of

newcomers from Turkey, Pakistan, Bangladesh and India, continued immigration

has further diversified this community. Anf it is said thay Arabic

is the second most spoken language in Halifax.



while conservative estimates place the number of Muslims at almost 15000

in 2014, the Imama of a primary Halifax mosque estimates their population

somewhere between 25000 to 30000.

usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,

of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be

decorated and festivals will be held.

For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the

distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of

Islam.

You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",

which means Blessed Eid!"

Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you

know, and Muslims around the world:

- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions

in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about

unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such

movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three

decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim

relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.

2 (Jer 49:1-6; Eze 6:2) Son of man, set your face against the sons of Ammon

and prophesy against them,

3 (Eze 36:2; Ps 70:2-3) and say to the sons of Ammon, Hear the word

of the Lord God. Thus says the Lord God: Because you said, "Aha!" against

My sanctuary when it was profaned, and against the land of Israel

when it was made desolate, and against the house of Judah

when they went into captivity,

4 (Dt 28:33; 28:51) therefore, I will deliver you to the men of the East

for a possession, and they shall set their camps among you

and make their dwellings among you. They shall eat your fruit

and drink your milk.

5 (Eze 21:20; 2Sa 12:26) I will make Rabbah a meadow for camels,

and the sons of Ammon a couching place for flocks. Thus you shall know

that I am the Lord.

6 (Zep 2:8; Ob 1:12) For thus says the Lord God: Because you have clapped

your hands and stamped your feet and rejoiced in heart with all your spite

against the land of Israel,

7 (Zep 1:4; Eze 25:13) therefore, I will stretch out My hand against you

and deliver you for destruction to the nations. And I will cut you off

from the peoples and cause you to perish from the countries.

I will destroy you. Then you shall know that I am the Lord.

A Prophecy Against Moab



8 (Isa 15:1-9; Jer 25:21) Thus says the Lord God: Because Moab and Seir say,

Look, the house of Judah is like all the nations,

9 (Jos 13:17; Jer 48:23) therefore, I will deprive the side of Moab

of its cities, of its cities which are on its frontiers, the glory

of the country, Beth Jeshimoth, Baal Meon, and Kiriathaim,

10 (Eze 21:32) and I will give it for a possession with the Ammonites

to the men of the East, so that the sons of Ammon may not be remembered

among the nations.

11 I will execute judgments on Moab. And they shall know

that I am the Lord.

A Prophecy Against Edom



12 (Ps 137:7; Jer 49:7-22) Thus says the Lord God: Because Edom

has acted against the house of Judah by taking vengeance

and has greatly offended and revenged themselves upon them,

13 (Jer 25:23; Eze 29:8) therefore thus says the Lord God:

I will also stretch out My hand against Edom and cut off man

and beast from it. And I will make it desolate. From Teman even

to Dedan they shall fall by the sword.

14 (Isa 11:14) I will lay My vengeance upon Edom by the hand

of My people Israel. And they shall do in Edom according to My anger

and according to My fury. And they shall know My vengeance, says the Lord God.



[12] Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because that Edom hath dealt against the house

of Judah by taking vengeance, and hath greatly offended, and revenged

himself upon them;

[13] Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also stretch out mine hand

A Prophecy Against Philistia



15 (Isa 14:29-31; Eze 25:6) Thus says the Lord God: Because the Philistines

have dealt by revenge and have taken vengeance with a spiteful heart

to destroy with everlasting hatred,

16 (1Sa 30:14; Eze 25:13) therefore thus says the Lord God:

I will stretch out My hand against the Philistines

and will cut off the Kerethites and destroy the remnant of the seacoast.

17 (Eze 25:11; Ps 9:16) I will execute great vengeance upon them

with furious rebukes. And they shall know that I am the Lord when

I lay My vengeance upon them.



[15] Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because the Philistines have dealt by revenge,

and have taken vengeance with a despiteful heart, to destroy it for the old

hatred;

[16] Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will stretch out mine hand

upon the Philistines, and I will cut off the Cherethims, and destroy the

remnant of the sea coast.

[17] And I will execute great vengeance upon them with furious rebukes; and

they shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall lay my vengeance upon them.



Ezekiel 26



A Prophecy Against Tyre



1 (Eze 20:13) In the eleventh year, on the first day of the month,

the word of the Lord came to me, saying:

2 (Isa 23:1-18; Jer 25:22) Son of man, because Tyre has said against

Jerusalem, "Aha, the gateway of the peoples is broken. It has opened to me.

I shall be filled now that she is laid waste,"

3 (Isa 5:30; Jer 51:42) therefore thus says the Lord God: I am against you,

O Tyre, and will cause many nations to come up against you, as the sea causes

its waves to come up.

4 (Isa 23:11; Am 1:10) They shall destroy the walls of Tyre

and break down her towers. I will also scrape her dust from her

and make her a bare rock.

5 (Eze 29:19; 25:7) She shall be a place for the spreading of nets

in the midst of the sea, for I have spoken, says the Lord God,

and she shall become destruction to the nations.

6 (Eze 16:46; 26:8) Her daughters who are on the mainland shall be slain

by the sword. And they shall know that I am the Lord.

7 (Ezr 7:12; Da 2:37) For thus says the Lord God: From the north I will bring

upon Tyre Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, a king of kings, with horses

and with chariots and with cavalry and a great army.

8 (Eze 21:22; Jer 6:6) He shall slay your daughters on the mainland

with the sword. And he shall set up a siege wall against you

and cast up a mound against you and lift up the roof of shields against you.

9 He shall set engines of war against your walls, and with his axes he shall

break down your towers.

10 (Jer 47:3; Eze 26:15) By reason of the abundance of his horses,

their dust shall cover you. Your walls shall shake at the noise

of the horsemen and of the wagons and of the chariots when he enters

your gates as men enter a city that has been breached.

11 (Isa 5:28; 26:5) With the hoofs of his horses he shall tread

down all your streets. He shall slay your people by the sword,

and your strong garrisons shall go down to the ground.

12 (Isa 23:8; 2Ch 32:27) They shall make a spoil of your riches,

and a prey of your merchandise. And they shall break down your walls

and destroy your pleasant houses. And they shall lay your stones

and your timber and your dust in the midst of the water.

13 (Isa 23:16; Jer 7:34) I will cause the noise of your songs to cease.

And the sound of your harps shall be heard no more.

14 (Job 12:14; Mal 1:4) I will make you a bare rock. You shall be a place

to spread nets upon. You shall be built no more, for I the Lord have spoken,

says the Lord God.

make a fort against thee, and cast a mount against thee, and lift up the

buckler against thee.

[9] And he shall set engines of war against thy walls, and with his axes he

shall break down thy towers.

[10] By reason of the abundance of his horses their dust shall cover thee:

thy walls shall shake at the noise of the horsemen, and of the wheels, and

of the chariots, when he shall enter into thy gates, as men enter into a

city wherein is made a breach.

[11] With the hoofs of his horses shall he tread down all thy streets: he

shall slay thy people by the sword, and thy strong garrisons shall go down

to the ground.

[12] And they shall make a spoil of thy riches, and make a prey of thy

merchandise: and they shall break down thy walls, and destroy thy pleasant

houses: and they shall lay thy stones and thy timber and thy dust in the

midst of the water.

[13] And I will cause the noise of thy songs to cease; and the sound of thy

harps shall be no more heard.

[14] And I will make thee like the top of a rock: thou shalt be a place to

spread nets upon; thou shalt be built no more: for I the LORD have spoken

it, saith the Lord GOD.



15 (Eze 27:35; Jer 49:21) Thus says the Lord God to Tyre:

Shall not the coastlands shake at the sound of your fall when the wounded

cry, when the slaughter is made in your midst?

16 (Eze 32:10; Job 8:22) Then all the officials of the sea shall come down

from their thrones and lay away their robes and take off their embroidered

garments. They shall clothe themselves with trembling. They shall sit

on the ground and tremble every moment and be astonished at you.

17 (Eze 19:1; Isa 14:12) They shall take up a lamentation over you and say

to you:

How you are destroyed, O inhabited one of the seas,

the renowned city,

which was strong in the sea,

she and her inhabitants,

who caused her terror

to be on all her inhabitants!

18 (Isa 23:5-7; Eze 26:15) Now the coastlands shall tremble

on the day of your fall; indeed,

the coastlands that are by the sea

shall be troubled at your departure.

19 (Isa 8:7-8; Eze 26:3) For thus says the Lord God: When I make you

a desolate city, like the cities that are not inhabited, when I bring up

the deep upon you and great waters shall cover you,

20 (Ps 27:13; Zec 2:8) then I shall bring you down with those who descend

into the pit, to the people of old, and make you dwell in the lower parts

of the earth, in places desolate of old, with those who go down to the pit

so that you will not be inhabited. But I shall set glory in the land

of the living.

21 (Eze 27:36; 28:19) I will bring terrors on you and you shall be no more.

Though you will be sought, you shall never be found again, says the Lord God.



[15] Thus saith the Lord GOD to Tyrus; Shall not the isles shake at the

sound of thy fall, when the wounded cry, when the slaughter is made in the

midst of thee?

[16] Then all the princes of the sea shall come down from their thrones, and

lay away their robes, and put off their broidered garments: they shall

clothe themselves with trembling; they shall sit upon the ground, and shall

tremble at every moment, and be astonished at thee.

[17] And they shall take up a lamentation for thee, and say to thee, How art

thou destroyed, that wast inhabited of seafaring men, the renowned city,

which wast strong in the sea, she and her inhabitants, which cause their

terror to be on all that haunt it!

[18] Now shall the isles tremble in the day of thy fall; yea, the isles that

are in the sea shall be troubled at thy departure.

[19] For thus saith the Lord GOD; When I shall make thee a desolate city,

like the cities that are not inhabited; when I shall bring up the deep upon

thee, and great waters shall cover thee;

[20] When I shall bring thee down with them that descend into the pit, with

the people of old time, and shall set thee in the low parts of the earth, in

places desolate of old, with them that go down to the pit, that thou be not

inhabited; and I shall set glory in the land of the living;

[21] I will make thee a terror, and thou shalt be no more: though thou be

sought for, yet shalt thou never be found again, saith the Lord GOD.



Ezekiel 27



A Lament for Tyre



1 The word of the Lord came again to me, saying:

2 (Jer 9:10; 9:17-20) Now you, son of man, take up a lamentation over Tyre.

3 (Eze 27:4) And say to Tyre who is situated at the entrance of the sea,

who is a merchant of the peoples for many coastlands,

Thus says the Lord God:

O Tyre, you have said,

"I am perfect in beauty."

4 Your borders are in the midst of the seas.

Your builders have perfected your beauty.

5 (Dt 3:9; SS 4:8) They have made all your ship boards

of fir trees from Senir;

they have taken cedars from Lebanon

to make a mast for you.

6 (Ge 10:4; Isa 2:13) Of the oaks of Bashan

they have made your oars;

with ivory they have inlaid your deck of boxwood

out of the coastlands of Cyprus.

7 (Ex 25:4; Jer 10:9) Fine linen with embroidered work

from Egypt was your sail,

so that it became your distinguishing sign;

blue and purple from the coastlands of Elishah

was your awning.

8 (Ge 10:18; 1Ki 9:27) The inhabitants of Sidon and Arvad were your mariners;

your wise men, O Tyre, were aboard; they were your pilots.

9 (1Ki 5:18; Jos 13:5) The elders of Byblos and her wise men

were in you repairing your seams;

all the ships of the sea with their mariners

were in you to deal in your merchandise.

10 (Eze 30:5; 38:5; SS 4:4) They of Persia and of Lydia and of Put

were in your army, your men of war;

they hung the shield and helmet in you;

they set forth your comeliness.

11 The sons of Arvad and your army

were upon your walls all around,

and the Gammad

were in your towers;

they hung their shields on your walls all around;

they have made your beauty perfect.

12 (Ge 10:4; 1Ki 10:22) Tarshish was your merchant by reason

of the multitude of all kinds of riches.

With silver, iron, tin, and lead, they traded in your wares.

13 (Ge 10:2; Isa 66:19; 1Ch 1:5) Greece, Tubal, and Meshek,

they were your merchants. They traded in your market

with the lives of men and vessels of bronze.

14 (Ge 10:3; Eze 38:6) Those of Beth Togarmah gave horses

and horsemen and mules for your wares.

15 (Ge 10:7; 1Ki 10:22) The sons of Dedan were your merchants.

Many coastlands were your merchandise. They brought you for

a payment horns of ivory and ebony.

16 (Jdg 10:6; Eze 28:13) Aram was your merchant by reason

of the multitude of your wares. They paid for your wares

with emeralds, purple, embroidered work, fine linen, coral, and agate.

17 (Jdg 11:33; 1Ki 5:9) Judah and the land of Israel,

they were your merchants. They traded in your market with the wheat

of Minnith, cakes, honey, oil, and balm.

18 (Isa 7:8) Damascus was your merchant in the multitude of your wares,

because of the multitude of all kinds of riches,

because of the wine of Helbon and white wool.

19 (Ex 30:23-24) Dan and Javan paid for your wares from Izal.

Bright iron, cassia, and sweet cane were in your market.

20 (Ge 25:3)Dedan was your merchant in saddlecloths for chariots.

21 (Isa 60:7; Ge 25:13) Arabia and all the officials of Kedar, they were

your customers in lambs, rams, and goats. For these they were your merchants.

23 (2Ki 19:12; Isa 37:12) Harran, and Kanneh, and Eden, the merchants

of Sheba, Ashur, and Kilmad, were your merchants.

24 They traded with you in choice garments, in clothes of blue

and embroidered work, and in carpets of many colors and tightly

wound cords, which were among your merchandise.

25 (Isa 2:16; Ps 48:7) The ships of Tarshish were

the carriers for your market.

And you were filled and were very glorious

in the midst of the seas.

26 (Ps 48:7; Jer 18:17) Your rowers have brought you

into great waters;

the east wind has broken you

in the midst of the seas.

27 (Pr 11:4) Your riches and your wares, your merchandise,

your mariners and your pilots, your caulkers,

and the dealers of your merchandise, and all your men of war who are in you,

with all your company which is in your midst,

shall fall into the midst of the seas

in the day of your ruin.

28 (Eze 26:10) The meadowlands shall shake

at the sound of the cry of your pilots.

29 All who handle the oar,

the mariners and all the pilots of the sea,

shall come down from their ships;

they shall stand upon the land.

to be heard against you,

and shall cry bitterly,

and shall cast up dust upon their heads;

they shall wallow in ashes.

in the depths of the waters,

your merchandise and all your company

in your midst have fallen.

shall be astonished at you,

and their kings shall be sorely afraid;

they are troubled in countenance.

forth to be thy sail; blue and purple from the isles of Elishah was that

which covered thee.

[8] The inhabitants of Zidon and Arvad were thy mariners: thy wise men, O

Tyrus, that were in thee, were thy pilots.

[9] The ancients of Gebal and the wise men thereof were in thee thy calkers:

all the ships of the sea with their mariners were in thee to occupy thy

merchandise.

[10] They of Persia and of Lud and of Phut were in thine army, thy men of

war: they hanged the shield and helmet in thee; they set forth thy

[11] The men of Arvad with thine army were upon thy walls round about, and

the Gammadims were in thy towers: they hanged their shields upon thy walls

round about; they have made thy beauty perfect.

[12] Tarshish was thy merchant by reason of the multitude of all kind of

persons of men and vessels of brass in thy market.

[14] They of the house of Togarmah traded in thy fairs with horses and

thine hand: they brought thee for a present horns of ivory and ebony.

[35] All the inhabitants of the isles shall be astonished at thee, and their

kings shall be sore afraid, they shall be troubled in their countenance.

[36] The merchants among the people shall hiss at thee; thou shalt be a

terror, and never shalt be any more.

Proverbs 22:1-5



1 (Ecc 7:1) A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches,

and loving favor rather than silver and gold.

2 (Job 31:15; Pr 14:31) The rich and poor have this in common,

the Lord is the maker of them all.

3 (Pr 14:16; 27:12) A prudent man foresees the evil and hides himself,

but the simple pass on and are punished.

4 (Pr 21:21) By humility and the fear of the Lord

are riches, and honor, and life.

5 (Pr 15:19; 1Jn 5:18) Thorns and snares are in the way of the perverse;

he who guards his soul will be far from them.

The sight was heartbreaking. A pod of 55 pilot whales had stranded themselves

on a Scottish beach. Volunteers tried to save them, but ultimately they died.

No one knows why mass strandings like this occur, but it could be due to the

whales' strong social bonds. When one gets into trouble, the rest come to

help-a caring instinct that can ironically lead to harm.



The Bible clearly calls us to help others, but to also be wise in how we do

so. For example, when we help restore someone who's caught in a sin, we're to

be careful that we're not dragged into that sin ourselves (Galatians 6:1), and

while we're to love our neighbours, we're to love ourselves too

(Matthew 22:39). Proverbs 22:3 says, "A prudent man foreseeth the evil,

and hideth himself: But the simple pass on, and are punished." This is a good

reminder when helping others starts harming us.



Some years ago, two very needy people started attending our church. Soon,

caring congregants were burning out responding to their cries. The solution

wasn't to turn the couple away but to put boundaries in place so helpers

weren't harmed. Jesus, the ultimate helper, took time for rest (Mark 4:38),

and He ensured His disciples' needs weren't displaced by others' needs (6:31).

Wise caring follows His example. By tending to our own health, we'll have

more care to give in the long term.

Rom 8:1-2



Life in the Spirit



1 (1Co 1:30; 2Co 5:17) There is therefore now no condemnation

for those who are in Christ Jesus,

who walk not according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

2 (1Co 15:45; Ro 6:18; Jn 8:32) For the law of the Spirit of life

in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and death.



The Spirit of God Within You

1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus,

who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free

from the law of sin and death.



In the classic movie, I want to live! actress Susan Hayward

plays a woman convicted of murder and sentenced to be executed.

The suspense builds; the execution is delayed as the officials

wait for a word of pardon. Finally, the woman in executed;

the call comes, and the pardon has been granted, but it is too late.

When no pardon is granted, condemnation leads to death. Our sin

marks us as "guilty" before God, and we deserve the wages of sin,

which is death. But in Jesus Christ, the pardon does come - and

it comes in time. Our sin deserves condemnation by God, and yet

he forgives us because Christ paid the penalty for us,

But we face other kinds of condemnation as well - self-condemnation,

that internal accusation that we still, somehow, must pay the price

of our own sin. Others often condemn us as well, offering much less

forgiveness and mercy than God does. And the Enemy of our souls condemns

us, trying to convince us that we don't, after all, have real freedom

from sin.

Yet Paul tells us in Romans 8, "There is therefore now no condemnation

for those who are in Christ Jesus". God has forgiven us freely; he has

granted his pardon. And in light of his forgiveness, how can we live

under the condemnation of others - or even of ourselves?

We are free, Paul says - free from the "law of sin and death,"

free to live in the liberty of the Spirit. The stay of execution

has come: the pardon has been granted. Never again can we tried

for the same crimes: never again must we live under the burden

of condemnation.



Application

Moncton, followed by Fredericton and Saint John, each have a growing Muslim

population in New Brunswick, In 2007, the building that was formerly a Baptist

church was converted into Moncton's 1st mosque. The University of Moncton

also has a Muslim student association hosting prayer services, fellowship

getherings, and outreaches on campus.

Fredericton also has one mosque and a Muslim student association serving the

campuses of the University of New Brunswick and St. Thomas University.

Fredericton's Muslim population consists in 2014 of about 50 families,

and between 300 to 400 university students.

Saint John is home to the 1st Muslim Association for the province,

which also helped foster the Islamic associations of Fredericton and Moncton.

a 'musalla', or prayer location that is not officially structured as a mosque,

has been established in the Uptown area with the intention of seeing it grow

into a 2nd official place of Muslim worship. Demand for this new location has

been primarily for university students moving into the area.



Pray for Muslims and New Brunswick

- that the eyes of pastors, believers and entire congregations will be opened

to see this growing body of Muslims, and their hearts will be opened

to sharing God's love in Jesus Christ with them



- that intentional ministries to Muslims will grow and flourish in these

areas of concentration



- that cooperative CNNMM Networks will form to really, encourage,

and equip believers to lovingly reach Muslims in this province.

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month

and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days

of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that

usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,

of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be

decorated and festivals will be held.

For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the

distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of

Islam.

You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",

which means Blessed Eid!"

Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you

know, and Muslims around the world:

- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions

in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about

unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such

movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three

decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim

relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.



Acts 2:12-17 : 17 12 They were all amazed and perplexed, saying to each other,

"What does this mean?"

13 (1Co 14:23) Others mocking said, "These men are full of new wine."



Peter's Speech at Pentecost

- Pray for Christian workers an organisations focused on seeing effective

discipleship movements among Muslim people.



- Ask the Holy Spirit to continue to inspire you to have god's heart for

Muslims, to see them as He does, and to be the light that then to Jesus.



Matthew 5:14-15 : 14 "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a

hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do men light a candle and put it under

a basket, but on a candlestick. And it gives light to all who are in the

house."



Ideas for prayer



- Pray for opportunities to show the love of Christ to Muslims around you

- Pray for, and offer generous hospitality to, those you know who are serving

Christ among Muslim people -



Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."

- When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims

throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days!

"My name is Kam. I'm 29 years of age, and I grew up Sikh. As a teenager,

I struggled with depression, brokenness, and addiction to

cannabis. I didn't know how to stop or how to get help.



Then a friend invited me to church. As I spent time with Christians

and heard the message of the Gospel, I experienced the

love of Jesus Christ, and it was like nothing I'd known before.

One night I had a dream where I saw Him - a figure surrounded by

My paternal side is of Muslim heritage and will offer this section to further

call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity



(Hindus, Jews, aboriginals Canadian, atheists, secular humanists, ...) .



Conclusion:



Pray to the Lord and pray to know that His word does not return void.



Pray to the Lord: "Holy Spirit, please empower me to serve others

in a healthy, sustainable way."



Pray to the Lord and pray to know in Jesus you are free

from condemnation of sin.



Pray to the Lord and pray to discourage highmindedness.



Pray to the Lord and praise Him for His goodness.
