GENESIS 43
Joseph's Brothers Return With Benjamin
1 Now the famine was severe in the land.
2 When they had eaten up the grain which
they had brought out of Egypt, their father said to them,
"Go back and buy us a little food."
3 Judah spoke to him, saying, "The man solemnly warned us, saying,
'You will not see my face unless your brother is with you.'
4 If you will send our brother with us, we will go down and buy food for you.
5 But if you will not send him, we will not go down.
For the man said to us, 'You will not see my face
unless your brother is with you.' "
6 Israel said, "Why did you treat me so badly as
to tell the man that you had another brother?"
7 And they said, "The man asked us directly about ourselves and our family,
saying, 'Is your father still alive? Do you have another brother?'
So we answered his questions. How could we even know that he would say,
'Bring your brother down'?"
8 And Judah said to Israel his father, "Send the boy with me,
and we will arise and go, so that we may live and not die,
both we and you, and also our little ones.
9 I will be a surety for him. You may hold me personally
responsible for him. If I fail to bring him back to you and set him before you,
then let me bear the blame forever. 10 For if we had not delayed,
we could have returned twice."
11 Their father Israel said to them, "If it must be so, do this.
Take some of the best fruits in the land in your bags,
and carry down a present for the man: a little balm
and a little honey, spices, and myrrh, pistachio nuts and almonds.
12 Take double the money with you, along with the money
that was brought back in the mouths of your sacks.
Carry it with you again. Perhaps it was a mistake.
13 Also, take your brother and arise, return to the man.
14 And may God Almighty give you mercy before the man,
so that he may send away your other brother, along with Benjamin.
As for me, if I am bereaved, I am bereaved."
15 The men took the gift, and they took double the money with them,
along with Benjamin. Then they went on their way down to Egypt
and stood before Joseph. 16 When Joseph saw Benjamin with them,
he said to the house steward,
"Bring these men home, slaughter an animal and prepare it,
for these men will dine with me at noon."
17 The man did as Joseph ordered,
so the man brought the men into Joseph's house.
18 The men were afraid because they were brought into Joseph's house.
They said, "We have been brought in because of the money
that was returned in our sacks the first time,
so that he may seek occasion against us and fall upon us
and take us for slaves with our donkeys."

[6] And Israel said, Wherefore dealt ye so ill with me, as to tell the man
whether ye had yet a brother?
[7] And they said, The man asked us straitly of our state, and of our
kindred, saying, Is your father yet alive? have ye another brother? and we
told him according to the tenor of these words: could we certainly know that
he would say, Bring your brother down?
[8] And Judah said unto Israel his father, Send the lad with me, and we will
arise and go; that we may live, and not die, both we, and thou, and also our
little ones.
[9] I will be surety for him; of my hand shalt thou require him: if I bring
him not unto thee, and set him before thee, then let me bear the blame for
ever:
[10] For except we had lingered, surely now we had returned this second
time.
[11] And their father Israel said unto them, If it must be so now, do this;
take of the best fruits in the land in your vessels, and carry down the man

hand, and Benjamin; and rose up, and went down to Egypt, and stood before
Joseph.
[16] And when Joseph saw Benjamin with them, he said to the ruler of his
house, Bring these men home, and slay, and make ready; for these men shall
dine with me at noon.
[17] And the man did as Joseph bade; and the man brought the men into
Joseph's house.
[18] And the men were afraid, because they were brought into Joseph's house;
and they said, Because of the money that was returned in our sacks at the
first time are we brought in; that he may seek occasion against us, and fall
upon us, and take us for bondmen, and our asses.
The Feast With Joseph
19 They approached the steward of Joseph's house,
and they spoke with him at the entrance of the house.
20 They said, "My lord, we indeed came down the first time to buy food.
21 When we came to the lodging place, we opened our sacks and realized
every man's money was in the mouth of his sack, our money in full weight.
So we have brought it again with us.
22 We have also brought additional money with us to buy food.
We cannot tell who put our money in our sacks."
23 He said, "Be at peace; do not be afraid.
Your God and the God of your father has given you treasure in your sacks.
I had your money." Then he brought Simeon out to them.
24 The man brought the men into Joseph's house
and gave them water to wash their feet and gave feed to their donkeys.
25 Then they made ready the gift for Joseph's coming at noon,
for they heard that they would be eating a meal there.
26 When Joseph came home, they brought into the house
to him the present that they had with them
and bowed themselves to him to the ground.
27 He asked them about their well-being and said,
"Is your father well, the old man of whom you spoke? Is he still alive?"
28 And they answered, "Your servant our father is in good health.
He is still alive." And they bowed down their heads and prostrated themselves.
29 He lifted up his eyes and saw his brother Benjamin, his mother's son,
and said, "Is this your younger brother of whom you spoke to me?"
And he said, "God be gracious to you, my son."
30 Joseph hurried out, for he was deeply moved over his brother
and sought a place to weep. So he entered into his chamber and wept there.
31 Then he washed his face and came out. Controlling himself,
he said, "Serve the food."
32 They served him by himself and them by themselves and the Egyptians
who ate with him by themselves, because the Egyptians could not eat a meal
with the Hebrews, for that is an abomination to the Egyptians.
33 They sat before him, the firstborn according to his birthright
and the youngest according to his youth, and the men looked
at one another in astonishment.
34 He gave them portions from his own table, but Benjamin's serving
was five times more than any of theirs. So they drank and feasted with him.
[19] And they came near to the steward of Joseph's house, and they communed
with him at the door of the house,
[20] And said, O sir, we came indeed down at the first time to buy food:
[21] And it came to pass, when we came to the inn, that we opened our sacks,
and, behold, every man's money was in the mouth of his sack, our money in
full weight: and we have brought it again in our hand.
[22] And other money have we brought down in our hands to buy food: we
cannot tell who put our money in our sacks.
[23] And he said, Peace be to you, fear not: your God, and the God of your
father, hath given you treasure in your sacks: I had your money. And he
brought Simeon out unto them.
[24] And the man brought the men into Joseph's house, and gave them water,
and they washed their feet; and he gave their asses provender.
[25] And they made ready the present against Joseph came at noon: for they
heard that they should eat bread there.
[26] And when Joseph came home, they brought him the present which was in
their hand into the house, and bowed themselves to him to the earth.
[27] And he asked them of their welfare, and said, Is your father well, the
old man of whom ye spake? Is he yet alive?
[28] And they answered, Thy servant our father is in good health, he is yet
alive. And they bowed down their heads, and made obeisance.
[29] And he lifted up his eyes, and saw his brother Benjamin, his mother's

he said, God be gracious unto thee, my son.
[30] And Joseph made haste; for his bowels did yearn upon his brother: and
he sought where to weep; and he entered into his chamber, and wept there.
[31] And he washed his face, and went out, and refrained himself, and said,
Set on bread.
[32] And they set on for him by himself, and for them by themselves, and for
the Egyptians, which did eat with him, by themselves: because the Egyptians
might not eat bread with the Hebrews; for that is an abomination unto the
Egyptians.
[33] And they sat before him, the firstborn according to his birthright, and
the youngest according to his youth: and the men marvelled one at another.
[34] And he took and sent messes unto them from before him: but Benjamin's
mess was five times so much as any of theirs. And they drank, and were merry
with him.

Genesis 42
[1] Now when Jacob saw that there was corn in Egypt, Jacob said unto his
sons, Why do ye look one upon another?
[2] And he said, Behold, I have heard that there is corn in Egypt: get you
down thither, and buy for us from thence; that we may live, and not die.
[3] And Joseph's ten brethren went down to buy corn in Egypt.
[4] But Benjamin, Joseph's brother, Jacob sent not with his brethren; for he
said, Lest peradventure mischief befall him.
[5] And the sons of Israel came to buy corn among those that came: for the
famine was in the land of Canaan.
[6] And Joseph was the governor over the land, and he it was that sold to
all the people of the land: and Joseph's brethren came, and bowed down
themselves before him with their faces to the earth.
[7] And Joseph saw his brethren, and he knew them, but made himself strange
unto them, and spake roughly unto them; and he said unto them, Whence come
ye? And they said, From the land of Canaan to buy food.
[8] And Joseph knew his brethren, but they knew not him.
[9] And Joseph remembered the dreams which he dreamed of them, and said unto
them, Ye are spies; to see the nakedness of the land ye are come.
[10] And they said unto him, Nay, my lord, but to buy food are thy servants
come.
[11] We are all one man's sons; we are true men, thy servants are no spies.
[12] And he said unto them, Nay, but to see the nakedness of the land ye are
come.
[13] And they said, Thy servants are twelve brethren, the sons of one man in
the land of Canaan; and, behold, the youngest is this day with our father,
and one is not.
[14] And Joseph said unto them, That is it that I spake unto you, saying, Ye
are spies:
[15] Hereby ye shall be proved: By the life of Pharaoh ye shall not go forth
hence, except your youngest brother come hither.
[16] Send one of you, and let him fetch your brother, and ye shall be kept
in prison, that your words may be proved, whether there be any truth in you:
or else by the life of Pharaoh surely ye are spies.
[17] And he put them all together into ward three days.
[18] And Joseph said unto them the third day, This do, and live; for I fear
God:
[19] If ye be true men, let one of your brethren be bound in the house of
your prison: go ye, carry corn for the famine of your houses:
[20] But bring your youngest brother unto me; so shall your words be
verified, and ye shall not die. And they did so.
[21] And they said one to another, We are verily guilty concerning our
brother, in that we saw the anguish of his soul, when he besought us, and we
would not hear; therefore is this distress come upon us.
[22] And Reuben answered them, saying, Spake I not unto you, saying, Do not
sin against the child; and ye would not hear? therefore, behold, also his
blood is required.
[23] And they knew not that Joseph understood them; for he spake unto them
by an interpreter.
[24] And he turned himself about from them, and wept; and returned to them
again, and communed with them, and took from them Simeon, and bound him
before their eyes.
[25] Then Joseph commanded to fill their sacks with corn, and to restore
every man's money into his sack, and to give them provision for the way: and
thus did he unto them.
[26] And they laded their asses with the corn, and departed thence.
[27] And as one of them opened his sack to give his ass provender in the
inn, he espied his money; for, behold, it was in his sack's mouth.
[28] And he said unto his brethren, My money is restored; and, lo, it is
even in my sack: and their heart failed them, and they were afraid, saying
one to another, What is this that God hath done unto us?
[29] And they came unto Jacob their father unto the land of Canaan, and told
him all that befell unto them; saying,
[30] The man, who is the lord of the land, spake roughly to us, and took us
for spies of the country.
[31] And we said unto him, We are true men; we are no spies:
[32] We be twelve brethren, sons of our father; one is not, and the youngest
is this day with our father in the land of Canaan.
[33] And the man, the lord of the country, said unto us, Hereby shall I know
that ye are true men; leave one of your brethren here with me, and take food
for the famine of your households, and be gone:
[34] And bring your youngest brother unto me: then shall I know that ye are
no spies, but that ye are true men: so will I deliver you your brother, and
ye shall traffick in the land.
[35] And it came to pass as they emptied their sacks, that, behold, every
man's bundle of money was in his sack: and when both they and their father
saw the bundles of money, they were afraid.
[36] And Jacob their father said unto them, Me have ye bereaved of my
children: Joseph is not, and Simeon is not, and ye will take Benjamin away:
all these things are against me.
[37] And Reuben spake unto his father, saying, Slay my two sons, if I bring
him not to thee: deliver him into my hand, and I will bring him to thee
again.
[38] And he said, My son shall not go down with you; for his brother is
dead, and he is left alone: if mischief befall him by the way in the which
ye go, then shall ye bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave.

7 "When my life was ebbing away,
I remembered the Lord;
and my prayer came to You,
into Your holy temple.
8 "Those who follow vain idols
forsake their true loyalty.
9 But I will sacrifice to You
with the voice of thanksgiving;
I will pay what I have vowed.
Salvation is of the Lord!"
10 Then the Lord spoke to the fish, and it vomited Jonah out upon dry land.

Jonah 3
Jonah Preaches at Nineveh
1 The word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time, saying,
2 "Get up, go to Nineveh, the great city,
and proclaim to it the message that I tell you."
3 So Jonah got up and went to Nineveh, according to the word of the Lord.
Now Nineveh was an exceedingly large city, a three-day journey across.
4 Jonah began to enter the city, going a day's walk.
And he cried out, "In forty days' time, Nineveh will be overthrown!"
5 So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast.
And everyone, great and small, put on sackcloth.
[1] And the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the second time, saying,
[2] Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the
preaching that I bid thee.
[3] So Jonah arose, and went unto Nineveh, according to the word of the
LORD. Now Nineveh was an exceeding great city of three days' journey.
[4] And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried,
and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown.
[5] So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and
put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them.
During Sunday school, my patience with three-year-old Peter was wearing thin.
He was unhappy, unkind to the other kids, and absolutely refused to be
content, even when we offered him the most coveted toys. My pity turned to
annoyance. If he stubbornly persisted in being difficult, then fine, I'd
send him back to his parents and he would miss out on all the fun.
Too often I find my compassion has conditions. If someone ignores my advice or
refuses my help, then they don’t deserve it anymore. Fortunately, God doesn't
act that way toward us. The prophet Jonah experienced His great mercy after a
time of stubborn disobedience when God commanded him to travel and preach to
Nineveh (Jonah 1:2). Defiantly choosing the opposite direction, Jonah was
caught in a terrible storm, set adrift at sea, and then swallowed by a great
fish - a self-made disaster (vv. 4, 15-17). When Jonah finally "prayed to
the Lord his God" (2:1), God was still listening to him, ready to forgive
His reluctant prophet. Jonah was delivered from the fish and graciously given
a second chance to go to Nineveh (3:1).
In little Peter's case, a trip to the playground consoled him - a brilliant
idea by a helper with more patience than I had shown. How beautiful is mercy
that continually seeks us out, even in the middle of our own mess.
Reflect & Pray
Why do you sometimes struggle to offer mercy to others? When have you seen
God's love seek out even the most difficult recipients?
Dear Jesus, thank You for loving me with such
long-suffering love. Teach me, please, to do the same.
God loves us, even when we tend to rebel.

Some 50 years ago, Orson Welles's radio broadcast of The War of the Worlds
threw the nation into panic; people on the East Coast ran for their lives,
expecting at any moment to be destroyed by alien invaders from outer space.
Today, of course, we are more sophisticated about such matters.
Television and movies have educated us about alien life forms.
Star Wars and Star Trek have taught us that their appearance can be much
different than ours. Sometimes they are unable to exist in our atmosphere
with artificial life-support systems; their physical makeup is often
incompatible with our environment.
God says that we, apart from Christ, are as incompatible with his kingdom
as the 'aliens' of movies are with Earth's environment.
We are at war with God, a true "war of the worlds" that staggers
the imagination.
Yet God has 'reconciled' us to his world. He has made us fit,
made us able to exist in his kingdom. He has made us part of
his world through Christ's death and resurrection.
Now, through Christ, we are 'holy' and 'without blemish' in God's sight.
And that transformation, ironically, make us 'alien' in the world around us.
No longer do we fit in a world of selfishness and greed, a world where Self
is god and everyone does what is right in his own heart.
We belong, instead, in the kingdom of God's righteousness.

2015 Population - 4631302 Muslims about 136493
British Columbia - British Columbia's Muslim Population is growing constantly.
Every week there are immigrants ad refugees coming to the Greater Vancouver
and surrounding areas. There are also significant Muslim student populations
in our colleges and universities. Some have even suggested that there are
between 4000 and 5000 Saudi Arabian students alone, without counting all
other nationalities.
Greater Vancouver has an estimated 180000 Muslims, and there are significant
and growing communities in the Fraser Valley such as in Langley, Abbotsford,
Chilliwack, etc. Including these communities the total population for this
region is about 200000.
Of these, there are an estimated 100000 Iranians, 35000 Arabs, 15000 Ismailis,
more than 20000 Afghanis, 10000 South Asian Muslims, 3000 Turks, and small
numbers from other countries such as Sudan, Somalia, Albania, etc.
We are seeing some Muslims coming to Christ and we rejoice in that.
A few people also have some ongoing ministry to Muslims in the area,
for which we also rejoice. Let us agree in that
- the church will catch a vision to pray,
and a burden to train outreach to Muslims
- the church will press in to participate in effective
discipleship of these new Muslim background believers.

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.
For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.
You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"
Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you
know, and Muslims around the world:
- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.
Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,
"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
18 Even on My menservants and maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.
19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below:
blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,
and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes.
21 And whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."[a]

discipleship movements among Muslim people.
- Ask the Holy Spirit to continue to inspire you to have god's heart for
Muslims, to see them as He does, and to be the light that then to Jesus.

Ideas for prayer
- Pray for opportunities to show the love of Christ to Muslims around you
- Pray for, and offer generous hospitality to, those you know who are serving
Christ among Muslim people -
Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."
- When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims
throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days!
My paternal side is of Muslim heritage and will offer this section to further
call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity
(Hindus, Jews, aboriginals Canadian, ...) .

I) Pray for the leaders of Northwest Territories, Yukon and Nunavut,
that God's Spirit would influence then to act justly,
serve with integrity
and honour high moral standards. ( 1 Tim 2:1 - 4
1 Therefore I exhort first of all that you make supplications,
prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings for everyone,
2 (Ezr 6:10) for kings and for all who are in authority,
that we may lead a quiet and peaceful life in all godliness and honesty,
3(1Ti 1:1; Lk 1:47) for this is good
and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,
4 (Eze 18:23; 18:32)who desires all men to be saved
and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
2 for kings, and for all that are in authority;

Conclusion:
Pray to the Lord and Pray to Him to show you what the future holds.
Pray to the Lord that Leaders in government will heed the Will of the Lord
like Joseph did.
Pray to the Lord : "Dear Jesus, thank You for loving me with such
long-suffering love. Teach me, please, to do the same."
Pray to the Lord and pray to know that you fit into the God's
Kingdom when you accept His gift of Salvation.
Pray to the Lord and pray to be neither borrower nor lender.
Pray to the Lord and pray to know the Lord is
preparing a place for you in Heaven.
Pray the church in BC will catch a vision to pray,
and a burden to train outreach to Muslims
Pray the church in BC will press in to participate in effective
discipleship of these new Muslim background believers.
Pray that Christians in the marketplace will demonstrate exemplary
work ethics and shine as witnesses of Christ .
May the Lord bless Christian leaders with joy and strength
as they faithfully minister in their communities in VENEZUELA.
Pray to the Lord that to know the Holy Spirit.

Pharaoh's Dreams
1 After two whole years, Pharaoh had a dream that he was standing by the Nile.
2 Seven fine-looking and fattened cows suddenly came up out of the river,
and they grazed in the meadow.
3 Then seven other cows came up after them out of the river, ugly and gaunt,
and stood by the other cows on the riverbank.
4 The ugly and gaunt cows ate up the seven fine-looking and fattened cows.
Then Pharaoh awoke.
5 He slept and dreamed a second time. Seven ears of grain suddenly came up
on one stalk, plump and good.
6 Then seven thin ears, scorched by the east
wind, sprang up after them.
7 The seven thin ears devoured the seven plump
and full ears. Then Pharaoh awoke and realized it was a dream.
8 In the morning his spirit was troubled, and he sent and called
for all the magicians of Egypt and all its wise men.
Pharaoh told them his dreams, but there was
no one who could interpret them to Pharaoh.
9 Then the chief cupbearer spoke to Pharaoh, saying,
"Today I remember my offenses.
10 Pharaoh was angry with his servants
and put me in confinement in the captain of the guard's house,
both me and the chief baker.
11 And we had a dream in the same night,
he and I. We, each of us, dreamed according to the interpretation
of his own dream.
12 A young Hebrew man was with us there,
a servant to the captain of the guard. We told him and he interpreted
our dreams for us. To each man he interpreted according to his own dream.
13 It happened just as he interpreted. He restored me to my position,
and the baker was hanged." (Joseph remembered)
14 So Pharaoh sent and called for Joseph, and they brought him hastily
out of the dungeon. He shaved himself, changed his clothes,
and came to Pharaoh.
15 Pharaoh said to Joseph, "I have dreamed a dream,
and there is no one who can interpret it.
I have heard it said of you that you can understand a dream to interpret it."
16 Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, "It is not in me.
God will give Pharaoh a favorable answer."
17 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, "In my dream, I stood on the bank of the Nile.
18 And suddenly there came up out of the river seven cows, fattened
and fine-looking, and they grazed in the reeds.
19 Then seven other cows
came up after them, poor and very ugly and gaunt. I have never seen
such ugliness in all the land of Egypt.
20 And the gaunt and ugly cows ate up the first seven fat cows.
21 And when they had eaten them up,
no one would have known that they had eaten them, for they were still
as ugly as before. Then I awoke.
22 "I also saw in my dreams seven ears of grain, full and good,
suddenly come up on one stalk.
23 Then seven ears, thin and scorched
by the east wind, sprang up after them.
24 And the thin ears swallowed
the seven good ears. So I told this to the magicians,
but there was no one who could explain it to me."
25 Then Joseph said to Pharaoh, "The dreams of Pharaoh are one and the same.
God has shown Pharaoh what He is about to do.
26 The seven good cows
are seven years, and the seven good ears are seven years. The dreams are one.
27 The seven gaunt and ugly cows that came up after them are seven years,
and the seven empty ears scorched by the east wind will be
seven years of famine.
28 "It is as I have spoken to Pharaoh. God has shown Pharaoh
what He is about to do.
29 Seven years of great abundance
will come throughout all the land of Egypt.
30 However, there will arise after them seven years of famine.
All the abundance will be forgotten in the land of Egypt,
and the famine will consume the land.
31 The abundance will be unknown
in the land because of the famine following, for it will be very severe.
32 The reason the dream was repeated to Pharaoh twice is because
the matter is established by God, and God will soon bring it to pass.
33 "Now, therefore, let Pharaoh seek out a man who is discerning
and wise and set him over the land of Egypt.
34 Let Pharaoh do this,
and let him appoint officials over the land and collect the fifth part of
the produce of the land of Egypt in the seven abundant years.
35 Let them gather all the food from those good years that come
and lay up grain under the authority of Pharaoh, and let them keep
food in the cities.
36 This food will be for a reserve for the land
for the seven years of famine which will be in the land of Egypt,
so that the land does not perish during the famine."
Genesis 41
[1] And it came to pass at the end of two full years, that Pharaoh dreamed:
and, behold, he stood by the river.
[2] And, behold, there came up out of the river seven well favoured kine and
fatfleshed; and they fed in a meadow.
[3] And, behold, seven other kine came up after them out of the river, ill
favoured and leanfleshed; and stood by the other kine upon the brink of the
river.
[4] And the ill favoured and leanfleshed kine did eat up the seven well
favoured and fat kine. So Pharaoh awoke.
[5] And he slept and dreamed the second time: and, behold, seven ears of
corn came up upon one stalk, rank and good.
[6] And, behold, seven thin ears and blasted with the east wind sprung up
after them.
[7] And the seven thin ears devoured the seven rank and full ears. And
Pharaoh awoke, and, behold, it was a dream.

according to the interpretation of his dream.
[12] And there was there with us a young man, an Hebrew, servant to the
captain of the guard; and we told him, and he interpreted to us our dreams;
to each man according to his dream he did interpret.
[13] And it came to pass, as he interpreted to us, so it was; me he restored
unto mine office, and him he hanged.
[14] Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out

[25] And Joseph said unto Pharaoh, The dream of Pharaoh is one: God hath
shewed Pharaoh what he is about to do.
[26] The seven good kine are seven years; and the seven good ears are seven
years: the dream is one.
[27] And the seven thin and ill favoured kine that came up after them are
seven years; and the seven empty ears blasted with the east wind shall be
seven years of famine.
[28] This is the thing which I have spoken unto Pharaoh: What God is about
to do he sheweth unto Pharaoh.
[29] Behold, there come seven years of great plenty throughout all the land
of Egypt:
[30] And there shall arise after them seven years of famine; and all the
plenty shall be forgotten in the land of Egypt; and the famine shall consume
the land;
[31] And the plenty shall not be known in the land by reason of that famine
following; for it shall be very grievous.
[32] And for that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice; it is because

Joseph Rises to Power
37 The counsel seemed good to Pharaoh and to all of his servants.
38 Pharaoh said to his servants, "Can we find anyone like this man,
in whom is the Spirit of God?"
39 And Pharaoh said to Joseph, "Since God has shown you all this,
there is no one as discerning and wise as you.
40 You will be over my house, and according to your word all my
people will be ruled.
Only in regard to the throne will I be greater than you."
41 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, "See, I have set you over all the land of Egypt."
42 Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand and put it on Joseph's hand
and arrayed him in clothes of fine linen and put a gold chain around his neck.
43 Then he had him ride in the second chariot which was his,
and they cried out before him, "Bow the knee!"
So he set him over all the land of Egypt.
44 Pharaoh said to Joseph, "I am Pharaoh, and without your consent
no man will lift up his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt."
45 Pharaoh called Joseph's name Zaphenath-Paneah,
and he gave him a wife, Asenath the daughter of Potiphera priest of On.
And Joseph went out over all the land of Egypt.
46 Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh,
the king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh
and went throughout all the land of Egypt.
47 In the seven abundant years the earth brought forth plentifully.
48 So he gathered up all the food of the seven years which was in
the land of Egypt and laid up the food in the cities.
He put in every city the food of the fields which surrounded the city.
49 Joseph gathered great quantities of grain as the sand of the sea
until he stopped measuring it, for it was beyond measure.
50 Before the years of famine came, two sons were born to Joseph,
whom Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera priest of On, bore to him.
51 Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh,
"For God," he said, "has made me forget all my trouble
and all my father's house."
52 The name of the second he called Ephraim, saying,
"For God has caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction."

53 The seven years of abundance that were in the land of Egypt ended.
54 The seven years of famine began to come, just as Joseph had said.
The famine was in all lands, but there was food in all the land of Egypt.
55 When all the land of Egypt was hungry,
the people cried to Pharaoh for food,
and Pharaoh said to all the Egyptians,
"Go to Joseph. Do whatever he says to you."
56 The famine was over all the face of the earth,
so Joseph opened all the storehouses and sold to the Egyptians,
and the famine was severe throughout the land of Egypt.
57 Moreover, all countries came to Egypt to Joseph to buy grain,
because the famine was so severe in all the lands.

GENESIS 42
Joseph's Brothers Go to Egypt
1 Now when Jacob saw that there was grain in Egypt,
Jacob said to his sons, "Why do you look at one another?"
2 And he said, "I have heard that there is grain in Egypt.
Go down there and buy some for us, so that we may live and not die."
3 Joseph's ten brothers went down to buy grain in Egypt.
4 But Jacob did not send Benjamin, Joseph's brother, with his brothers
for he said, "Perhaps some harm might happen to him."
5 Thus the sons of Israel came to buy grain among those who came,
for the famine was in the land of Canaan.
6 Now Joseph was the governor over the land,
and it was he who sold to all the people of the land.
So Joseph's brothers came and bowed themselves
down before him with their faces to the ground.
7 Joseph saw his brothers, and he recognized them,
but he pretended to be a stranger to them
and spoke harshly to them. He said to them, "From where do you come?"
And they said, "From the land of Canaan to buy food."
8 Joseph knew his brothers, but they did not know him.
9 Joseph also remembered the dreams that he had dreamed of them.
He said to them, "You are spies! You came to see the nakedness of the land!"
10 They said to him, "No, my lord, your servants have come only to buy food.
11 We are all one man's sons. We are honest men. Your servants are not spies."
12 But he said to them, "No, you have come to see the nakedness of the land!"
13 They said, "Your servants are twelve brothers,
the sons of one man in the land of Canaan.
The youngest is with our father today, and one is no longer living."
14 Joseph said to them, "It is as I said to you, 'You are spies!'
15 Here is how you will be tested. By the life of Pharaoh,
you will not leave here unless your youngest brother comes here.
16 Send one of you, and let him get your brother,
and you will be kept in prison, so that your words may be tested,
whether there be any truth in you.
Or else, by the life of Pharaoh, you are surely spies."
17 He put them all together in custody for three days.
18 Joseph said to them the third day, "Do this and live, for I fear God.
19 If you are honest men, let one of your brothers be confined
in your prison house. The rest of you go and carry grain for the famine
of your households.
20 Nevertheless, bring your youngest brother to me so that your words
may be verified and you shall not die." And they did so.
21 Then they said one to another, "We are guilty concerning our brother,
because we saw the anguish of his soul when he pleaded with us,
but we would not listen. Therefore, this distress has come upon us."
22 Reuben answered them, saying, "Did I not speak to you, saying,
'Do not sin against the boy';
and you would not listen? Therefore, his blood is now required of us."
23 They did not know that Joseph understood them,
for he spoke to them through an interpreter.
24 He turned himself away from them and wept,
but then turned back to them again and spoke with them.
Then he took Simeon from them and bound him before their eyes.
25 Joseph then gave the command to fill their sacks with grain
and to restore every man's money to his sack
and to give them provisions for the way. And it was done for them.
Joseph's Brothers Return Home
26 They loaded their donkeys with the grain and departed from there.
27 As one of them opened his sack to give
his donkey feed in the lodging place,
he saw his money. It was in the mouth of his sack.
28 And he said to his brothers, "My money has been returned.
Here it is in my sack!"
Then their hearts sank, and they were afraid, saying to one another,
"What is this that God has done to us?"
29 They came to Jacob their father in the land of Canaan
and told him all that had happened to them, saying,
30 "The man, the lord of the land, spoke harshly to us
and took us for spies of the country.
31 And we said to him, 'We are honest men. We are not spies.
32 We are twelve brothers, all sons of our father.
One is no longer living, and the youngest is with our father today
in the land of Canaan.'
33 "The man, the lord of the country, said to us,
'Here is how I may know that you are honest men.
Leave one of your brothers here with me,
take food for the famine of your households, and be gone.
34 But bring your youngest brother back to me.
Then I will know that you are not spies, but that you are honest men.
Then I will deliver your brother to you, and you may trade in the land.' "
35 As they emptied their sacks, every man's bundle of money was in his sack.
When both they and their father saw the bundles of money, they were afraid.
36 Then Jacob their father said to them,
"You have bereaved me of my children! Joseph is no more, Simeon is no more,
and you will take Benjamin away. All these things are against me."
37 Reuben spoke to his father, saying,
"Kill my two sons if I fail to bring him to you. Put him in my hands, a
nd I will bring him back to you."
38 But Jacob said, "My son must not go down with you, for his brother is dead,
and he alone is left. If harm should happen to him on the journey
you are to make, then you will bring down my gray hairs
with sorrow to the grave.

Genesis 40
[1] And it came to pass after these things, that the butler of the king of
Egypt and his baker had offended their lord the king of Egypt.
[2] And Pharaoh was wroth against two of his officers, against the chief of
the butlers, and against the chief of the bakers.
[3] And he put them in ward in the house of the captain of the guard, into
the prison, the place where Joseph was bound.
[4] And the captain of the guard charged Joseph with them, and he served
them: and they continued a season in ward.
[5] And they dreamed a dream both of them, each man his dream in one night,
each man according to the interpretation of his dream, the butler and the
baker of the king of Egypt, which were bound in the prison.
[6] And Joseph came in unto them in the morning, and looked upon them, and,
behold, they were sad.
[7] And he asked Pharaoh's officers that were with him in the ward of his
lord's house, saying, Wherefore look ye so sadly to day?
[8] And they said unto him, We have dreamed a dream, and there is no
interpreter of it. And Joseph said unto them, Do not interpretations belong
to God? tell me them, I pray you.
[9] And the chief butler told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, In my
dream, behold, a vine was before me;
[10] And in the vine were three branches: and it was as though it budded,
and her blossoms shot forth; and the clusters thereof brought forth ripe
grapes:
[11] And Pharaoh's cup was in my hand: and I took the grapes, and pressed
them into Pharaoh's cup, and I gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand.
[12] And Joseph said unto him, This is the interpretation of it: The three
branches are three days:
[13] Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thine head, and restore
thee unto thy place: and thou shalt deliver Pharaoh's cup into his hand,
after the former manner when thou wast his butler.
[14] But think on me when it shall be well with thee, and shew kindness, I
pray thee, unto me, and make mention of me unto Pharaoh, and bring me out of
this house:
[15] For indeed I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews: and here
also have I done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon.
[16] When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said unto
Joseph, I also was in my dream, and, behold, I had three white baskets on my
head:
[17] And in the uppermost basket there was of all manner of bakemeats for
Pharaoh; and the birds did eat them out of the basket upon my head.
[18] And Joseph answered and said, This is the interpretation thereof: The
three baskets are three days:
[19] Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thy head from off thee, and
shall hang thee on a tree; and the birds shall eat thy flesh from off thee.
[20] And it came to pass the third day, which was Pharaoh's birthday, that
he made a feast unto all his servants: and he lifted up the head of the
chief butler and of the chief baker among his servants.
[21] And he restored the chief butler unto his butlership again; and he gave
the cup into Pharaoh's hand:
[22] But he hanged the chief baker: as Joseph had interpreted to them.
[23] Yet did not the chief butler remember Joseph, but forgat him.

1 John 3:1-3
1 (Jn 1:12; 3:16) Consider how much love the Father has given to us,
that we should be called children of God. Therefore the world does not know
us, because it did not know Him.

revealed what we shall be. But we know that when He appears, we shall be

The tall passenger seemed to unfold as he stood up in the aisle of the small
regional jet. Then I noticed the title of his boldly displayed book: Be Like
Jesus. A few minutes later, I saw that same man push others aside to grab his
bag off the waiting trolley. Be like Jesus? I didn't know if he was truly a
"brother" who knew Christ, but I was dismayed by this display of selfishness
that misrepresented Jesus.
As my feet hit the escalator, I saw the man again, book cover still visible.
The words then elbowed my own heart. Be like Jesus, Elisa. Don't judge.
I wondered, was my presence emanating anything of Jesus?
Becoming like Jesus is a transformational process - a metamorphosis - of God
growing His character in us as we yield to His ways. Paul wrote that
believers in Jesus "are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing
glory, which comes from the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18). John marvels at how
hard this is for us to understand - much less achieve: "Now we are children
of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when
Christ appears, we shall be like him [in purity],
for we shall see him as he is" (1 John 3:2-3).
As the escalator spilled us out, I glanced again at the book. Be Like
Jesus - the words took on new meaning for me and redirected my gaze
to my own heart and life.

Teena, a college freshman, has just committed her life to Christ,
but she was apprehensive about telling anyone - until Bill appeared
on the scene. He plunked his coffee cup down on the table and smiled.
"I heard something exciting happened to you yesterday, Teena"
"Yeah", Teena paused and looked around, as if seeking an escape route.
"I , uh, well, I did it"
"Did what?"
"Well, I, ah, gave my life to God."
"That's wonderful!" Bill exclaimed.
He was still talking with Teena and encouraging he in her decision
when Maria walked by.
"Maria!" Bill called. "Teena wants to tell you something!"
Teena gasped , open-mouthed, then stammered,
" I - I committed my life to Christ."
Maria , similarly enthuasiatic, encouraged Teena in her commitment,
and within half an hour Teena was stopping her friends to tell them,
"Guess what? I've become a Christian! I belng to Jesus now!"
Teena had already surrendered her heart to Christ.
But when she confessed her decision aloud to others,
the truth of that transformation was confirmed by her.
Many of us have been raised to believe that 'faith is a private matter',
not to be discussed in polite company. Yet Paul makes clear the connection
between heart commitment and verbal confession. Just as my love for family
and friends deepens as I tell them I love them, so a person's love
for Christ is confirmed and stabilised
by speaking of that commitment to others.
Application
a) Have I been reluctant to tell others of my faith in Christ? Why?
b) What happens within me when I do tell others of my love for the Lord?

British Columbia - British Columbia's Muslim Population is growing constantly.
Every week there are immigrants ad refugees coming to the Greater Vancouver
and surrounding areas. There are also significant Muslim student populations
in our colleges and universities. Some have even suggested that there are
between 4000 and 5000 Saudi Arabian students alone, without counting all
other nationalities.
Greater Vancouver has an estimated 180000 Muslims, and there are significant
and growing communities in the Fraser Valley such as in Langley, Abbotsford,
Chilliwack, etc. Including these communities the total population for this
region is about 200000.
Of these, there are an estimated 100000 Iranians, 35000 Arabs, 15000 Ismailis,
more than 20000 Afghanis, 10000 South Asian Muslims, 3000 Turks, and small
numbers from other countries such as Sudan, Somalia, Albania, etc.
We are seeing some Muslims coming to Christ and we rejoice in that.
A few people also have some ongoing ministry to Muslims in the area,
for which we also rejoice. Let us agree in that
- the church will catch a vision to pray,
and a burden to train outreach to Muslims
- the church will press in to participate in effective
discipleship of these new Muslim background believers.

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.
For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.
You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"
Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you
know, and Muslims around the world:
- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.
Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,
"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
18 Even on My menservants and maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.
19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below:
blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,
and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes.
21 And whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."[a]

- When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims
throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days!
My paternal side is of Muslim heritage and will offer this section to further
call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity
(Hindus, Jews, aboriginals Canadian, ...) .

GENESIS 39
Joseph and Potiphar's Wife
1 Now Joseph was brought down to Egypt, and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh,
captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him from the Ishmaelites
who had brought him down there.
2 The Lord was with Joseph, so that he became a prosperous man.
He was in the house of his master, the Egyptian.
3 His master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord made all
that he did to prosper.
4 Joseph found favor in his sight and served him.
So he made him overseer over his house,
and all that he had he put under his charge.
5 From the time that he had made him overseer in his house
and over all that he had, the Lord blessed the Egyptian's house
on account of Joseph. So the blessing of the Lord was on all that
he had in the house and in the field.
6 So he left all that he had in Joseph's charge, and he had
no concerns regarding anything except the food he ate.
Now Joseph was handsome and well-built.
7 After a time, his master's wife took notice of Joseph and said,
"Lie with me."
8 But he refused and said to his master's wife, "My master does not
concern himself with anything concerning me in the house,
and he has committed all that he has to my charge.
9 There is none greater in this house than I.
He has kept nothing back from me but you, because you are his wife.
How then can I do this great wickedness and sin against God?"
10 She spoke to Joseph every day, but he did not listen to her
about lying with her or being with her.
11 But it happened one day that Joseph went into the house to do his work,
and none of the men of the house was there.
12 She caught him by his clothing, saying, "Lie with me."
But he left his clothing in her hand and fled and got outside.
13 When she saw that he had left his clothing in her hand
and had fled outside,
14 she called to the men of her house and spoke to them, saying,
"See, he has brought in a Hebrew among us to humiliate us.
He came in to me to lie with me, and I cried out with a loud voice.

19 When his master heard the words of his wife, which she spoke to him,

a place where the king's prisoners were confined.
So he was there in the prison. 21 But the Lord was with Joseph
and showed him mercy and gave him favor in
the sight of the keeper of the prison.
22 The keeper of the prison committed all the prisoners
that were in the prison to the charge of Joseph. So whatever
they did there, he was the one responsible for it.
23 The keeper of the prison did not concern himself with anything
that was under Joseph's charge because the Lord was with him.
And whatever he did, the Lord made it to prosper.

Joseph Interprets Dreams

3 So he put them in confinement in the house of the captain of the guard,
in the prison, the place where Joseph was confined.
4 The captain of the guard charged Joseph with them,
and he attended to them.
They continued to be in confinement for some time.
5 Then the cupbearer and the baker for the king of Egypt,
who were confined in the prison, both had a dream the same night,
each man with his own dream
and each dream with its own interpretation.
6 Joseph came in to them in the morning and looked at them
and realized they were sad.
7 So he asked Pharaoh's officials who were with him in the care of his lord's house,
saying, "Why do you look so sad today?"
8 And they said to him, "We have dreamed a dream,
and there is no interpreter for it."
Then Joseph said to them, "Do not interpretations belong to God?
Please tell them to me."
9 The chief cupbearer told his dream to Joseph and said to him,
"In my dream, a vine was in front of me.
10 And in the vine there were three branches. As it budded,
its blossoms shot forth and its clusters brought forth ripe grapes.
11 Pharaoh's cup was in my hand, and I took the grapes,
and pressed them into Pharaoh's cup, and I put the cup into Pharaoh's hand."
12 Joseph said to him, "This is the interpretation of it. The three branches
are three days.
13 Within three days Pharaoh will lift up your head
and restore you to your place, and you will deliver Pharaoh's cup
into his hand in the same way you did before when you were his cupbearer.
14 But remember me when it is well with you, and show kindness,
I pray you, to me, and make mention of me to Pharaoh,
and get me out of this house.
15 For I was indeed kidnapped
out of the land of the Hebrews, and I have done nothing
that they should put me in the dungeon."
16 When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good,
he said to Joseph, "I also was in my dream,
and I had three white baskets on my head.
17 In the uppermost basket there was all manner of baked goods
for Pharaoh, and the birds ate them out of the basket on my head."
18 Joseph answered and said, "This is the interpretation: The three baskets
are three days. 19 Within three days Pharaoh will lift your head from off you
and will hang you on a tree, and the birds will eat your flesh from you."
20 It happened on the third day, which was Pharaoh's birthday,
that he made a feast for all his servants. He lifted up the heads
of the chief cupbearer and the chief baker among his servants.
21 He restored the chief cupbearer to his position again,
and he put the cup into Pharaoh's hand.
22 However, he hanged the chief baker,
just as Joseph had interpreted to them.
23 Yet, the chief cupbearer did not remember Joseph, but forgot him.

and sat in an open place, which is by the road to Timnah.

"Come now, let me have relations with you"

or we shall be laughed at. I sent this young goat, and you did not find her."

has turned to prostitution, and what is more,
as a result of prostitution she is pregnant."

British Columbia - British Columbia's Muslim Population is growing constantly.
Every week there are immigrants ad refugees coming to the Greater Vancouver
and surrounding areas. There are also significant Muslim student populations
in our colleges and universities. Some have even suggested that there are
between 4000 and 5000 Saudi Arabian students alone, without counting all
other nationalities.
Greater Vancouver has an estimated 180000 Muslims, and there are significant
and growing communities in the Fraser Valley such as in Langley, Abbotsford,
Chilliwack, etc. Including these communities the total population for this
region is about 200000.
Of these, there are an estimated 100000 Iranians, 35000 Arabs, 15000 Ismailis,
more than 20000 Afghanis, 10000 South Asian Muslims, 3000 Turks, and small
numbers from other countries such as Sudan, Somalia, Albania, etc.
We are seeing some Muslims coming to Christ and we rejoice in that.
A few people also have some ongoing ministry to Muslims in the area,
for which we also rejoice. Let us agree in that
- the church will catch a vision to pray,
and a burden to train outreach to Muslims
- the church will press in to participate in effective
discipleship of these new Muslim background believers.

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.
For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.
You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"
Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you
know, and Muslims around the world:
- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.
Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,
"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
18 Even on My menservants and maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.
19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below:
blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,
and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes.
21 And whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."[a]

call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity
(Hindus, Jews, aboriginals Canadian, ...) .

Sentenced to fifty years in a maximum-security prison, a sixteen-year-old girl
sat in solitary confinement. Due to her age, she remained separated from the
other inmates. For nearly a year, she had no outside visitors. During an
outreach and baptism held at the facility, the guards let a ministry leader
enter the girl's cell. She heard the gospel, surrendered her life to Jesus,
and asked to be baptised. At first, the team considered using water bottles,
but then the prison staff shut down the entire facility and led her to
a portable baptismal pool. As God's people prayed, she wept.
Though God promises to judge those who reject Him, He also extends mercy to
those who repent. He restores and protects those who trust in His name
(Zephaniah 3:10-12). Repentance leads to redemption, because God Himself
"has taken away" the punishment we deserve (v. 15). Hope resounds in the
prophet Zephaniah's words about God: "He will take great delight in you; in
his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with
singing" (v. 17).
So we can share the gospel with compassion and confidence, especially with
those who may feel they're too far from God. No matter where we are, what
we've done, or how alone, forgotten, or unworthy we may feel, God loves
and pursues us. Every person is within God's reach.

Week 3 - Saved Now and forever Day 7 - The Great Exchange
2 Cor 5:21 - God made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us,
that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin;
that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
People were talking ; the gossip lines were busy day and night.
Andrea, a Bible study leader and pillar of the church, had been
accused of indiscretion with a married man, another member
of the congregation. The rumours were proven untrue,
but that hardly mattered anymore. The damage was done.
"It's just not far," Andrea said. " It was all so unnecessary.
And now, even though I've done nothing wrong, my relationship
with that church will never be the same again."
We all know what pain is caused by undeserved accusation,
rejection, and misunderstanding. Sometimes, when the smoke clears,
irreparable damage has been done, even when no sin has occurred.
We can understand the torment that comes when we've sinned,
but when we've done nothing wrong, the injustice seem unbearable.
Jesus knew what it was to suffer unjustly. He had never sinned at all,
yet he 'became sin' for us. He gave himself in an outrageous exchange:
he took our sin and gave us his righteousness.
Living in this exchange does not mean, of course, that we will be exempt
from pain, that we will never again suffer unjustly or be subject
to rejection. But in Christ, we are declared righteous before God,
just as Jesus himself is righteous. And as we submit
to the Holy Spirit's work in us, we become righteous ,
obeying him and growing in grace. Christ endured rejection
for us so that we might live in him.
Application
a) Have I ever suffered unjustly or been rejected by someone without cause?
b) How can this verse, coupled with my own experience give me a greater
depth of appreciation of what Christ suffered for me?

Joseph Sold Into Slavery

in Shechem? Come, and I will send you to them."
He answered, "Here I am."
14 Israel said to him, "Please go and see if it is well with your brothers
and well with the flocks, and bring back word to me."
So he sent him out of the Valley of Hebron, and he came to Shechem.
15 A certain man found him wandering in the field.
The man asked him, "What are you looking for?"

their flocks.
[17] And the man said, They are departed hence; for I heard them say, Let us
go to Dothan. And Joseph went after his brethren, and found them in Dothan.
[18] And when they saw him afar off, even before he came near unto them,
they conspired against him to slay him.
[19] And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer cometh.
[20] Come now therefore, and let us slay him, and cast him into some pit,
and we will say, Some evil beast hath devoured him: and we shall see what
will become of his dreams.
[21] And Reuben heard it, and he delivered him out of their hands; and said,
Let us not kill him.
[22] And Reuben said unto them, Shed no blood, but cast him into this pit
that is in the wilderness, and lay no hand upon him; that he might rid him
out of their hands, to deliver him to his father again.
[23] And it came to pass, when Joseph was come unto his brethren, that they
stript Joseph out of his coat, his coat of many colours that was on him;
[24] And they took him, and cast him into a pit: and the pit was empty,
there was no water in it.
[25] And they sat down to eat bread: and they lifted up their eyes and
looked, and, behold, a company of Ishmeelites came from Gilead with their
camels bearing spicery and balm and myrrh, going to carry it down to Egypt.
[26] And Judah said unto his brethren, What profit is it if we slay our
brother, and conceal his blood?
[27] Come, and let us sell him to the Ishmeelites, and let not our hand be
upon him; for he is our brother and our flesh. And his brethren were
content.
[28] Then there passed by Midianites merchantmen; and they drew and lifted
up Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the Ishmeelites for twenty
pieces of silver: and they brought Joseph into Egypt.

father; and said, This have we found: know now whether it be thy son's coat
or no.
[33] And he knew it, and said, It is my son's coat; an evil beast hath

Jacob Returns to Bethel
1 Then God said to Jacob,"Arise, go up to Bethel, dwell there,

"Put away the foreign gods that are among you. Purify yourselves
and change your clothes.
3 Let us arise and go up to Bethel,
and there I will make an altar to God, who answered me
in the day of my distress and has been with me wherever I have gone."
4 So they gave Jacob all the foreign gods which were in their possession
and all their earrings which were in their ears, and Jacob hid them
under the oak which was near Shechem.

was on the cities that were around them, and they did not pursue
the sons of Jacob.
6 So Jacob came to Luz (that is, Bethel), which is in the land of Canaan,
he and all the people who were with him.
7 There he built an altar
and called the place El Bethel, because God had appeared to him
there when he fled from his brother.
8 Now Deborah, Rebekah's nurse, died and was buried beneath

Greater Vancouver has an estimated 180000 Muslims, and there are significant
and growing communities in the Fraser Valley such as in Langley, Abbotsford,
Chilliwack, etc. Including these communities the total population for this
region is about 200000.
Of these, there are an estimated 100000 Iranians, 35000 Arabs, 15000 Ismailis,
more than 20000 Afghanis, 10000 South Asian Muslims, 3000 Turks, and small
numbers from other countries such as Sudan, Somalia, Albania, etc.
We are seeing some Muslims coming to Christ and we rejoice in that.
A few people also have some ongoing ministry to Muslims in the area,
for which we also rejoice. Let us agree in that
- the church will catch a vision to pray,
and a burden to train outreach to Muslims
- the church will press in to participate in effective
discipleship of these new Muslim background believers.

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.
For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.
You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"
Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you
know, and Muslims around the world:
- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.
Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,
"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
18 Even on My menservants and maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.
19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below:
blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,
and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes.
21 And whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."[a]

- Pray for Christian workers an organisations focused on seeing effective
discipleship movements among Muslim people.
- Ask the Holy Spirit to continue to inspire you to have god's heart for
Muslims, to see them as He does, and to be the light that then to Jesus.

Ideas for prayer
- Pray for opportunities to show the love of Christ to Muslims around you
- Pray for, and offer generous hospitality to, those you know who are serving
Christ among Muslim people -
Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."
- When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims
throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days!
My paternal side is of Muslim heritage and will offer this section to further
call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity
(Hindus, Jews, aboriginals Canadian, ...) .
