LEVITICUS 5



The Guilt Offering



1 (Lev 5:17; Pr 29:24; Lev 7:18 )When a person sins in hearing the spoken

oath, and he is a witness, whether he saw or knew about the incident,

if he does not report it, he bears guilt.

2 (Lev 5:17; Dt 14:8) Or when a person touches any ceremonially unclean

thing, whether it is a carcass of unclean wildlife, or a carcass of

an unclean domesticated animal, or the carcass of an unclean crawling thing,

and he did not realize it, then he has become unclean and guilty.

3 (Lev 12:1-8; 15:1-33) Or when he touches human uncleanness,

any uncleanness by which he may become ceremonially unclean,

and he did not realize it, when he realizes it, then he shall be guilty.

4 (Jdg 11:31; 1Sa 25:22) Or when a person swears by speaking rashly

with his lips to do evil or to do good, anything that a man may speak

rashly by oath, and he did not realize it, but when he realizes it,

then he has become guilty of any of these things.

5 (Nu 5:7; Lev 16:21; 26:40) When he becomes guilty of one of these things,

he shall confess that he has sinned in that thing.

6 (Lev 4:28; 4:32) And he shall bring his guilt offering to the Lord

for his sin which he has committed, a female from the flock, a lamb or goat,

for a sin offering. And the priest shall make atonement

for him concerning his sin.

7 (Lev 12:8; 14:21-22) If he cannot afford an animal, then he shall

bring for his guilt offering, on account of the sin that he committed,

two turtledoves or two pigeons to the Lord, one for a sin offering

and one for a burnt offering.

8 (Lev 1:15; 1:17) He shall bring them to the priest who shall offer

the one for the sin offering first. He will wring off its head at

its neck, but he shall not sever it.

9 (Lev 4:7; 4:18) Then he shall sprinkle some of the blood of the sin

offering on the side of the altar, and the rest of the blood shall be

poured out at the base of the altar. It is a sin offering.

10 (Lev 1:14-17; 4:26; 4:20) But the second he shall treat as a burnt

offering according to the regulation. The priest shall make atonement

for him for his sin that he committed, and he shall be forgiven.

11 (Nu 5:15; Lev 2:1-2) But if he cannot afford to bring two turtledoves

or two pigeons, he shall bring for his offering for the sin that

he committed one-tenth of an ephah

(Likely about 3 1/2 pounds, or 1.6 kilograms.)

of wheat flour for a sin offering. He shall not place olive oil on it,

nor shall he put frankincense on it, for it is a sin offering.

12 (Lev 2:9; 2:2) Then he shall bring it to the priest,

and the priest shall scoop out a handful from it as a memorial portion

and burn it on the altar as a food offering to the Lord made by fire.

It is a sin offering.

13 (Lev 2:3; 4:26) The priest shall make atonement for him concerning

his sin that he committed from any of these offenses, and he shall be

forgiven. The remainder will belong to the priest, like the grain offering.



[1] And if a soul sin, and hear the voice of swearing, and is a witness,

whether he hath seen or known of it; if he do not utter it, then he shall

bear his iniquity.

[2] Or if a soul touch any unclean thing, whether it be a carcase of an

unclean beast, or a carcase of unclean cattle, or the carcase of unclean

creeping things, and if it be hidden from him; he also shall be unclean, and

guilty.

[3] Or if he touch the uncleanness of man, whatsoever uncleanness it be that

a man shall be defiled withal, and it be hid from him; when he knoweth of

it, then he shall be guilty.

[4] Or if a soul swear, pronouncing with his lips to do evil, or to do good,

whatsoever it be that a man shall pronounce with an oath, and it be hid from

him; when he knoweth of it, then he shall be guilty in one of these.

[5] And it shall be, when he shall be guilty in one of these things, that he

shall confess that he hath sinned in that thing:

[6] And he shall bring his trespass offering unto the LORD for his sin which

he hath sinned, a female from the flock, a lamb or a kid of the goats, for a

sin offering; and the priest shall make an atonement for him concerning his

sin.

[7] And if he be not able to bring a lamb, then he shall bring for his

trespass, which he hath committed, two turtledoves, or two young pigeons,

unto the LORD; one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering.

[8] And he shall bring them unto the priest, who shall offer that which is

for the sin offering first, and wring off his head from his neck, but shall

not divide it asunder:

[9] And he shall sprinkle of the blood of the sin offering upon the side of

the altar; and the rest of the blood shall be wrung out at the bottom of the

altar: it is a sin offering.

[10] And he shall offer the second for a burnt offering, according to the

manner: and the priest shall make an atonement for him for his sin which he

hath sinned, and it shall be forgiven him.

[11] But if he be not able to bring two turtledoves, or two young pigeons,

then he that sinned shall bring for his offering the tenth part of an ephah

of fine flour for a sin offering; he shall put no oil upon it, neither shall

he put any frankincense thereon: for it is a sin offering.

[12] Then shall he bring it to the priest, and the priest shall take his

handful of it, even a memorial thereof, and burn it on the altar, according

to the offerings made by fire unto the LORD: it is a sin offering.

[13] And the priest shall make an atonement for him as touching his sin that

he hath sinned in one of these, and it shall be forgiven him: and the

remnant shall be the priest's, as a meat offering.



Offerings With Restitution



14 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying:

15 (Ex 30:13; Lev 4:2) When a person acts unfaithfully and sins

unintentionally in regard to the holy things of the Lord,

then for his restitution offering to the Lord he shall bring a ram

without blemish from the flock - or its equivalent, in your estimation,

in silver shekels (using the sanctuary shekel

(About 2/5 ounce, or 12 grams.))

-for a guilt offering.

16 (Lev 22:14; Nu 5:7) And he shall repay the sin that he committed

with regard to the holy thing and shall add a fifth to it and give

it to the priest. The priest shall make atonement for him with the ram

of the guilt offering, and he shall be forgiven.

17 (Lev 4:13; 4:27) If a person sins unintentionally

and does any one of the things that by commandments

of the Lord should not be done and he is found guilty,

he shall bear his iniquity.

18 (Lev 5:15-16) He shall bring to the priest a ram without blemish

from the flock - or its equivalent value

(This is a shorthand version of the full formula found in Lev 5:15.)

-for a guilt offering. The priest shall make atonement for him concerning

his error that he made unintentionally, and he shall be forgiven.

19 It is a guilt offering: He has indeed incurred guilt before the Lord.



[14] And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

[15] If a soul commit a trespass, and sin through ignorance, in the holy

things of the LORD; then he shall bring for his trespass unto the LORD a ram

without blemish out of the flocks, with thy estimation by shekels of silver,

after the shekel of the sanctuary, for a trespass offering:

[16] And he shall make amends for the harm that he hath done in the holy

thing, and shall add the fifth part thereto, and give it unto the priest:

and the priest shall make an atonement for him with the ram of the trespass

offering, and it shall be forgiven him.

[17] And if a soul sin, and commit any of these things which are forbidden

to be done by the commandments of the LORD; though he wist it not, yet is he

guilty, and shall bear his iniquity.

[18] And he shall bring a ram without blemish out of the flock, with thy

estimation, for a trespass offering, unto the priest: and the priest shall

make an atonement for him concerning his ignorance wherein he erred and wist

it not, and it shall be forgiven him.

[19] It is a trespass offering: he hath certainly trespassed against the

LORD.



LEVITICUS 6



1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:

2 (Ex 22:7 - 10; Lev 19:11) When a person sins and acts unfaithfully against

the Lord by lying to another concerning something left in storage,

or entrusted to him, or theft, or by extorting his neighbor,

3 (Ex 23:4; Lev 19:12) or by finding a lost item and lying about it,

and he swears falsely concerning one of all the things that a man

may do to sin in these things,

4 when he sins and he is found guilty, he shall return whatever he stole,

or whatever he extorted, or whatever was left in storage with him,

or the lost item which he found,

5 (Lev 5:16; Nu 5:7-8) or about which he swore falsely, then he shall

repay it in full and shall add one-fifth to it. He shall give it to

whom it belongs on the day that he is found guilty.

6 (Lev 5:15; 5:18) And he shall bring his guilt offering to the Lord,

a ram without blemish from the flock -

(or its equivalent value (Shorthand version of the

full formula found in Lev 5:15.))

- for a guilt offering to the priest.

7 (Lev 4:26) And the priest shall make atonement for him before the Lord, and

he shall be forgiven for anything he may have done to incur guilt.



[1] And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

[2] If a soul sin, and commit a trespass against the LORD, and lie unto his

neighbour in that which was delivered him to keep, or in fellowship, or in a

thing taken away by violence, or hath deceived his neighbour;

[3] Or have found that which was lost, and lieth concerning it, and sweareth

falsely; in any of all these that a man doeth, sinning therein:

[4] Then it shall be, because he hath sinned, and is guilty, that he shall

restore that which he took violently away, or the thing which he hath

deceitfully gotten, or that which was delivered him to keep, or the lost

thing which he found,

[5] Or all that about which he hath sworn falsely; he shall even restore it

in the principal, and shall add the fifth part more thereto, and give it

unto him to whom it appertaineth, in the day of his trespass offering.

[6] And he shall bring his trespass offering unto the LORD, a ram without

blemish out of the flock, with thy estimation, for a trespass offering, unto

the priest:

[7] And the priest shall make an atonement for him before the LORD: and it

shall be forgiven him for any thing of all that he hath done in trespassing

therein.



The Law of the Burnt Offering



8 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying:

9 (Nu 28:3; Ex 29:38-42) Command Aaron and his sons, saying:

This is the law for the burnt offering.

The burnt offering shall be on the hearth upon the altar all night

until the morning, and the fire of the altar shall be kept burning on it.

10 (Ex 28:39-43; Lev 16:4) The priest shall put on his linen robe,

and his linen undergarments on his body.

Then he shall remove the ashes from the fire

of the burnt offering on the altar,

and he shall put them beside the altar.

11 (Lev 4:12; Eze 44:19) Then he shall take off his garments

and put on other garments, and he shall bring the ashes outside

the camp to a clean place.

12 The fire on the altar shall be kept burning on it. It shall not go out.

The priest shall feed it with wood every morning. He will arrange

the burnt offering on it, and he shall burn the fat of

the peace offerings on it.

13 A perpetual fire shall be kept burning on the altar.

It shall never go out.



[8] And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

[9] Command Aaron and his sons, saying, This is the law of the burnt

offering: It is the burnt offering, because of the burning upon the altar

all night unto the morning, and the fire of the altar shall be burning in

it.

[10] And the priest shall put on his linen garment, and his linen breeches

shall he put upon his flesh, and take up the ashes which the fire hath

consumed with the burnt offering on the altar, and he shall put them beside

the altar.

[11] And he shall put off his garments, and put on other garments, and carry

forth the ashes without the camp unto a clean place.

[12] And the fire upon the altar shall be burning in it; it shall not be put

out: and the priest shall burn wood on it every morning, and lay the burnt

offering in order upon it; and he shall burn thereon the fat of the peace

offerings.

[13] The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar; it shall never go out.



The Law of the Grain Offering



14 (Nu 15:4) This is the law of the grain offering. The sons of Aaron

shall offer it before the Lord on the altar.

15 (Lev 2:2; 2:9) He shall take from it a handful of the flour

of the grain offering, and of the oil and all the frankincense

which is on the grain offering, and shall burn it on the altar

for a pleasing aroma as a memorial to the Lord.

16 (Lev 2:3; Eze 44:29) Aaron and his sons shall eat the remainder of it;

it shall be eaten without leaven in a holy place.

They shall eat it in the court of the tent of meeting.

17 (Lev 2:11; 6:25) It shall not be baked with leaven.

I have given it to them for their portion of My food offerings made by fire.

It is most holy, as is the sin offering and as is the guilt offering.

18 (Lev 6:29; Nu 18:10) All the males among the children of Aaron shall

eat of it. It shall be a perpetual statute in your generations concerning

the food offerings of the Lord made by fire.

Everyone who touches them shall become holy.

19 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying:

20 (Ex 16:36; 29:2) This is the offering of Aaron and of his sons which

they shall offer to the Lord in the day when he is anointed:

a tenth part of an ephah

(Likely about 3 1/2 pounds, or 1.6 kilograms.)

of wheat flour for a regular grain offering, half of it in the morning

and half at night.

21 (Lev 2:5; 7:9) It shall be made on a griddle with olive oil.

When it is well mixed, you shall bring it; and the baked pieces

of the grain offering you shall offer as a pleasing aroma to the Lord.

22 The priest from among the sons of Aaron who is anointed to succeed

him shall offer it. It is a perpetual statute to the Lord.

It shall be completely burned up.

23 For every grain offering for the priest shall be completely burned up.

It shall not be eaten.



[14] And this is the law of the meat offering: the sons of Aaron shall offer

it before the LORD, before the altar.

[15] And he shall take of it his handful, of the flour of the meat offering,

and of the oil thereof, and all the frankincense which is upon the meat

offering, and shall burn it upon the altar for a sweet savour, even the

memorial of it, unto the LORD.

[16] And the remainder thereof shall Aaron and his sons eat: with unleavened

bread shall it be eaten in the holy place; in the court of the tabernacle of

the congregation they shall eat it.

[17] It shall not be baken with leaven. I have given it unto them for their

portion of my offerings made by fire; it is most holy, as is the sin

offering, and as the trespass offering.

[18] All the males among the children of Aaron shall eat of it. It shall be

a statute for ever in your generations concerning the offerings of the LORD

made by fire: every one that toucheth them shall be holy.

[19] And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

[20] This is the offering of Aaron and of his sons, which they shall offer

unto the LORD in the day when he is anointed; the tenth part of an ephah of

half thereof at night.

[21] In a pan it shall be made with oil; and when it is baken, thou shalt

bring it in: and the baken pieces of the meat offering shalt thou offer for

[22] And the priest of his sons that is anointed in his stead shall offer

it: it is a statute for ever unto the LORD, it shall be wholly burnt.

[23] For every meat offering for the priest shall be wholly burnt: it shall

not be eaten.



The Law of the Sin Offering



24 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying:

25 (Lev 4:24; 1:11; 1:3) Speak to Aaron and to his sons, saying:

This is the law of the sin offering: In the place where the burnt

offering is killed shall the sin offering also be killed

before the Lord. It is most holy.

26 (Lev 10:17-18; Eze 44:28-29) The priest who offers it

for sin shall eat it. In a holy place it shall be eaten

in the court of the tent of meeting.

27 (Ex 29:37) Whatever touches its flesh shall be holy,

and when blood is sprinkled on any garment,

you shall wash it in a holy place.

28 (Lev 11:33; 15:12) And the clay vessel where it is boiled

shall be broken, and if it is boiled in a bronze pot,

it shall be both scoured and rinsed in water.

29 All the males among the priests shall eat from this offering.

It is most holy.

30 (Lev 4:3-21; 10:18) Any sin offering where blood is brought

into the tent of meeting to make atonement in the holy place

shall not be eaten. It shall be burned up in the fire.



[24] And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

[25] Speak unto Aaron and to his sons, saying, This is the law of the sin

offering: In the place where the burnt offering is killed shall the sin

offering be killed before the LORD: it is most holy.

[26] The priest that offereth it for sin shall eat it: in the holy place

shall it be eaten, in the court of the tabernacle of the congregation.

[27] Whatsoever shall touch the flesh thereof shall be holy: and when there

is sprinkled of the blood thereof upon any garment, thou shalt wash that

whereon it was sprinkled in the holy place.

[28] But the earthen vessel wherein it is sodden shall be broken: and if it

be sodden in a brasen pot, it shall be both scoured, and rinsed in water.

[29] All the males among the priests shall eat thereof: it is most holy.

[30] And no sin offering, whereof any of the blood is brought into the

tabernacle of the congregation to reconcile withal in the holy place, shall

be eaten: it shall be burnt in the fire.



LEVITICUS 7



The Law of the Guilt Offering



1 (Lev 5:1-6; 5:14-6:7) Likewise this is the law of the guilt offering.

It is most holy.

2 (Lev 1:5; 1:11) In the place where they kill the burnt offering

they shall kill the guilt offering, and its blood shall he sprinkle

on the sides of the altar.

3 (Ex 29:13; Lev 3:15-16) He shall offer all the fat.

The fatty tail and the fat that covers the entrails,

4 and the two kidneys and the fat that is on them, which is on the loins,

and the appendage that is above the liver, along with the kidneys,

he shall take away.

5 And the priest shall burn them on the altar for a food offering made

by fire to the Lord. It is a guilt offering.

6 (Lev 6:29; 2:3) Every male among the priests shall eat from it.

It shall be eaten in a holy place. It is most holy.

7 (Lev 6:25-26; 14:13) As the sin offering, so is the guilt offering;

there is one law for them: the priest who makes atonement shall have it.

8 The priest who offers anyone's burnt offering shall have for himself

the skin of the burnt offering that he has offered.

9 (Lev 2:10; Nu 18:9) Every grain offering that is baked in the oven

and all that is prepared in a pan or griddle shall be for the priest

who offers it.

10 And every grain offering, whether mixed with oil or dry,

shall be equally shared among all the sons of Aaron.



[1] Likewise this is the law of the trespass offering: it is most holy.

[2] In the place where they kill the burnt offering shall they kill the

trespass offering: and the blood thereof shall he sprinkle round about upon

the altar.

[3] And he shall offer of it all the fat thereof; the rump, and the fat that

covereth the inwards,

[4] And the two kidneys, and the fat that is on them, which is by the

flanks, and the caul that is above the liver, with the kidneys, it shall he

take away:

[5] And the priest shall burn them upon the altar for an offering made by

fire unto the LORD: it is a trespass offering.

[6] Every male among the priests shall eat thereof: it shall be eaten in the

holy place: it is most holy.

[7] As the sin offering is, so is the trespass offering: there is one law

for them: the priest that maketh atonement therewith shall have it.

[8] And the priest that offereth any man's burnt offering, even the priest

shall have to himself the skin of the burnt offering which he hath offered.

[9] And all the meat offering that is baken in the oven, and all that is

dressed in the fryingpan, and in the pan, shall be the priest's that

offereth it.

[10] And every meat offering, mingled with oil, and dry, shall all the sons

of Aaron have, one as much as another.



The Law of Peace Offerings



11 This is the law of the sacrifice of peace offerings

that a person shall offer to the Lord.

12 (Lev 2:4; Nu 6:15) If he gives it as a thanksgiving offering,

then he shall offer with the thanksgiving sacrifice unleavened cakes

mixed with oil, and unleavened wafers smeared with oil,

and cakes of wheat flour mixed with olive oil.

13 (Am 4:5; Lev 23:17) Besides the cakes, he shall offer for his offering

leavened bread with the sacrifice of his thanksgiving peace offerings.

14 (Nu 18:19; Ex 29:27-28) From this he shall offer one loaf

from each offering, as a gift to the Lord. It shall be

for the priest who sprinkles the blood of the peace offerings.

15 The flesh of the sacrifice of his peace offerings

for thanksgiving shall be eaten the same day that it is offered;

he shall not leave any of it until the morning.

16 (Lev 19:5-8; Dt 12:6) But if the sacrifice of his offering

is a vow or a voluntary offering, it shall be eaten the same day

that he offers his sacrifice, and on the next day

also the remainder of it can be eaten.

17 (Ex 12:10) But the remainder of the flesh of the sacrifice

on the third day shall be burned up with fire.

18 (Lev 19:7-8; 11:41) If any of the flesh of the sacrifice

of his peace offerings is eaten at all on the third day,

the one eating shall not be accepted,

nor shall it be imputed to him who offers it.

It shall be contaminated,

and the one who eats of it shall bear his iniquity.

19 The flesh that touches any unclean thing shall not be eaten.

It shall be burned up with fire. And as for the other flesh,

all who are ritually clean can eat of it.

20 But the person who eats of the flesh of the sacrifice of peace offerings

that belong to the Lord, and who has any uncleanness on him,

that individual shall be cut off from his people.

21 (Lev 5:2-3; 11:10-13) Moreover the person who shall touch any unclean

thing, whether the uncleanness of man or any unclean beast or any

detestable unclean creature, and then eats of the flesh

of the sacrifice of the peace offering that belongs to the Lord,

that individual shall be cut off from his people.



[11] And this is the law of the sacrifice of peace offerings, which he shall

offer unto the LORD.

[12] If he offer it for a thanksgiving, then he shall offer with the

sacrifice of thanksgiving unleavened cakes mingled with oil, and unleavened

wafers anointed with oil, and cakes mingled with oil, of fine flour, fried.

[13] Besides the cakes, he shall offer for his offering leavened bread with

the sacrifice of thanksgiving of his peace offerings.

[14] And of it he shall offer one out of the whole oblation for an heave

offering unto the LORD, and it shall be the priest's that sprinkleth the

blood of the peace offerings.

[15] And the flesh of the sacrifice of his peace offerings for thanksgiving

shall be eaten the same day that it is offered; he shall not leave any of it

until the morning.

[16] But if the sacrifice of his offering be a vow, or a voluntary offering,

it shall be eaten the same day that he offereth his sacrifice: and on the

morrow also the remainder of it shall be eaten:

[17] But the remainder of the flesh of the sacrifice on the third day shall

be burnt with fire.

[18] And if any of the flesh of the sacrifice of his peace offerings be

eaten at all on the third day, it shall not be accepted, neither shall it be

imputed unto him that offereth it: it shall be an abomination, and the soul

that eateth of it shall bear his iniquity.

[19] And the flesh that toucheth any unclean thing shall not be eaten; it

shall be burnt with fire: and as for the flesh, all that be clean shall eat

thereof.

[20] But the soul that eateth of the flesh of the sacrifice of peace

offerings, that pertain unto the LORD, having his uncleanness upon him, even

that soul shall be cut off from his people.

[21] Moreover the soul that shall touch any unclean thing, as the

uncleanness of man, or any unclean beast, or any abominable unclean thing,

and eat of the flesh of the sacrifice of peace offerings, which pertain unto

the LORD, even that soul shall be cut off from his people.



Eating Fat and Blood Forbidden



22 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying:

23 (Lev 3:16-17) Speak to the children of Israel, saying:

You shall not eat any fat of an ox, a sheep, or a goat.

24 (Ex 22:31; Lev 17:15) The fat of an animal that dies

of itself and the fat of that which is torn by beasts

may be used in any other way, but you shall certainly not eat of it.

25 For whoever eats the fat of an animal that is a food offering made

by fire to the Lord, that individual shall be cut off from his people.

26 (Ge 9:4; Lev 3:17) Moreover you shall not eat any manner of blood,

whether from a fowl or animal, in any of your dwellings.

27 Whoever eats any manner of blood, that individual

shall be cut off from his people.



[22] And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

[23] Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, Ye shall eat no manner of

fat, of ox, or of sheep, or of goat.

[24] And the fat of the beast that dieth of itself, and the fat of that

which is torn with beasts, may be used in any other use: but ye shall in no

wise eat of it.

[25] For whosoever eateth the fat of the beast, of which men offer an

offering made by fire unto the LORD, even the soul that eateth it shall be

cut off from his people.

[26] Moreover ye shall eat no manner of blood, whether it be of fowl or of

beast, in any of your dwellings.

[27] Whatsoever soul it be that eateth any manner of blood, even that soul

shall be cut off from his people.



The Priests' Share



28 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying:

29 Speak to the children of Israel, saying: He who offers the sacrifice

of his peace offerings to the Lord shall bring his sacrifice to the Lord

from his peace offerings.

30 (Nu 6:20; Lev 3:3-4) His own hands shall bring the food offerings

of the Lord made by fire, the fat with the breast that the breast

may be waved for a wave offering before the Lord.

31 (Lev 3:5; 3:11) The priest shall burn the fat on the altar,

but the breast shall be for Aaron and his sons.

32 (Lev 7:34; 9:21) The right thigh you shall give to the priest

for a contribution offering for the sacrifice of your peace offerings.

33 The one among the sons of Aaron who offers the blood

of the peace offerings and the fat shall have

the right thigh for his portion.

34 (Nu 18:18-19; Lev 10:14-15) For the breast that is waved

and the thigh that is contributed I have taken from the children of Israel,

from the sacrifices of their peace offerings, and have given them to

Aaron the priest and to his sons as a perpetual portion

from the children of Israel.

At Meredith's wedding, her mother read a beautiful Scripture

from 1 Corinthians. Often called "the love chapter" of the Bible, the 13th

chapter sounded perfect for the occasion.

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast,

it is not proud" (v. 4). Listening, I wondered if modern brides and grooms

knew what prompted the apostle's stirring words. Paul wasn't writing a love

poem. The apostle penned a plea to a divided church in an effort to heal

its raging divisions.



Simply put, the church at Corinth "was a mess," says scholar Douglas A.

Campbell. Seething problems included incest, prostitution, and rivalry among

leaders. Lawsuits between members weren't uncommon. Worship was often

chaotic-with those speaking in tongues competing to be heard first, and others

prophesying to look impressive (see 1 Corinthians 14).



Underlying this chaos, says Campbell, was "a basic failure in relating to one

another in love." To show the more excellent way, Paul preached love because

"love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where

there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge,

it will pass away" (13:8).



Paul's loving reminders can certainly encourage a wedding party.

May they also inspire all of us to live out love and kindness too.

the sweatshirt read. In this case, the message was an ironic one,

for the occupant of the shirt was a snaggle-toothed, freckle-faced six year

old!

In one sense, God is not finished with the work he has to do in each of us.

Life in Christ is an ongoing process of change and growth as we become

more like him. Certainly, the more we see of ourselves, the more we hope

he isn't finished with us!

Yet whatever plans God has for making us into the men and women he created

us to be, certain aspects of our life in Christ are finished, finalised.

Jesus declares with absolute assurance, "whoever hears

My word and believes in Him who sent Me has eternal life

and shall not come into condemnation, but has passed from death into life. "

Because we do not have to earn or deserve God's grace, because we are not

called to prove ourselves worthy of Salvation, we can have immediate

and total assurance of the security of life in Jesus Christ. The one who

put his trust in the Lord has eternal life; he will not be condemned;

he has crossed over from death to life.

This "crossing over" into life happens in the split second when we acknowledge

our dependence upon Christ alone. And the rest of our lives is given over to

the development of his image in us.

God is not finished with us yet.

But his work of salvation is finished - complete,

fully dependable an accomplished fact.

growing yet to do, my salvation in Jesus Christ is secure?

Edmonton's Muslim population is very diverse, with the largest group

coming from Tanzania, followed by Somalia, and then North African countries

such as Egypt, Morocco, etc.

Muslims are coming to faith in Jesus! They overcome huge spiritual,

emotional and cultural hurdles to follow Christ. Yet their challenges still

continue, especially in growing in discipleship. They often fell lost in our

Western congregations, and equally lost trying to find a church body with whom

they can identify. some are even being lured into Christian cult groups.

- for Canadian churches to start contextualised discipleship ministries to

Muslim-background believers.

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month

and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days

of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that

usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,

of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be

decorated and festivals will be held.



For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the

distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of

Islam.



You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",

which means Blessed Eid!"



Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you

know, and Muslims around the world:



- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions

in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about

unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such

movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three

decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim

relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.

Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,

"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;

your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.

18 Even on My menservants and maidservants

I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.

Just as we have found peace in Christ, they too can discover the profound

peace that comes from surrendering their worries to Him. Let our hearts cry

out with Matthew 11:28 "Come unto me, all ye that labour

and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. ".

3 (Lev 10:12-13; 6:16-17) And the remainder of the grain offering

shall belong to Aaron and to his sons, which is a most holy part

of the food offerings to the Lord made by fire.

4 (Ex 29:2) When you bring an oven-baked grain offering, it shall be

unleavened cakes of fine flour mixed with oil or unleavened wafers

spread with oil.

5 If your offering is grain on a griddle, it shall be of unleavened

wheat flour mixed with olive oil.

6 Break it into pieces and pour oil on it. It is a grain offering.

7 If your offering is grain in a skillet, it shall be made of wheat flour

in olive oil.

8 You shall bring the grain offering that is made of these things

to the Lord, and when it is presented to the priest,

he shall take it to the altar.

9 (Lev 2:2; Ex 29:18; Lev 6:15) The priest shall remove a memorial

portion from the grain offering and burn it on the altar, a food offering

made by fire, which is a pleasing aroma for the Lord.

10 (Lev 2:3) The remainder of the grain offering shall belong to Aaron

and to his sons, which is a most holy part of the food offerings

to the Lord made by fire.

11 (Ex 12:19-20; 23:18) No grain offering that you bring to the Lord

shall be made with leaven, for you shall not burn leaven nor any honey

as a food offering by fire to the Lord.

12 (Ex 23:19) As an offering of first fruits,

you may offer them to the Lord,

but they shall not be offered on the altar for a pleasing aroma.

13 (Eze 43:24; Nu 18:19; 2Ch 13:5) You shall season all your grain offerings

with salt. You shall not fail to use the salt of the covenant of your God

on your grain offering. With all your offerings you shall offer salt.

14 (Lev 23:10) If you offer a grain offering of your first fruits

to the Lord, you shall offer for the grain offering of your first fruits

fresh ripe grain roasted by fire, coarsely ground new grain.

15 You shall put olive oil on it and frankincense on it.

It is a grain offering

16 The priest shall burn its memorial portion

and some of its coarsely ground new grain and oil,

along with all its frankincense as a food

offering made by fire to the Lord.



Leviticus 2

[1] And when any will offer a meat offering unto the LORD, his offering

thereout his handful of the flour thereof, and of the oil thereof, with all

thereof, and part of the oil thereof, with all the frankincense thereof: it

is an offering made by fire unto the LORD.



LEVITICUS 3



The Peace Offering



1 (Lev 1:3; Nu 6:14) If his offering is a peace sacrifice,

and if he is offering from the herd,

whether male or female, then he shall offer it

without blemish before the Lord.

2 (Ex 29:10; Lev 1:4-5) He shall lay his hand on the head of his offering

and slaughter it at the door of the tent of meeting, and the sons of Aaron,

the priests, shall sprinkle the blood on the sides of the altar.

3 (Ex 29:13; 29:22) He shall offer from the peace sacrifice,

as a food offering made by fire to the Lord, the fat that covers

the entrails and all the fat that is on the entrails,

4 (Lev 3:10) and the two kidneys with the fat that is above them,

which is on the loins, and the appendage on the liver

which he shall remove with the kidneys.

5 (Lev 6:12; Ex 29:13) Then the sons of Aaron shall burn it on the altar

on the burnt sacrifice that is on the wood that is on the fire,

as a food offering made by fire, which is a pleasing aroma for the Lord.

6 If his offering for a peace sacrifice to the Lord is from the flock,

male or female, he shall offer it without blemish.

7 (1Ki 8:62) If he is offering a sheep for his offering,

he shall offer it before the Lord.

8 (Lev 1:5) He shall lay his hand upon the head of his offering

and slaughter it before the tent of meeting,

and the sons of Aaron shall sprinkle its blood on the sides of the altar.

9 (Ex 29:22; Lev 9:19) He shall offer from the peace sacrifice,

a food offering made by fire for the Lord, its fat,

and the whole fatty tail which he shall remove close to the backbone,

and the fat that covers the entrails,

and all the fat that is on the entrails,

which is on the loins, and the appendage on the liver which he shall

remove with the kidneys.

11 (Lev 21:6; 21:17) The priest shall burn it on the altar

as a food offering made by fire for the Lord.

12 If his offering is a goat, he shall offer it before the Lord.

13 (Lev 3:8) He shall lay his hand on its head and slaughter it

before the tent of meeting, and the sons of Aaron shall sprinkle

its blood on the sides of the altar.

14 He shall offer from it as his offering,

an offering made by fire for the Lord, the fat that covers the entrails

and all the fat that is on the entrails,

which is on the loins, and the appendage on the liver

16 (Lev 7:23-25; 1Sa 2:15-16) The priest shall burn them

All the fat belongs to the Lord.

17 (Ge 9:4; Lev 6:18) As a continual statute for your generations

in all your settlements, you shall not eat any fat or any blood..

LEVITICUS 4



The Sin Offering



1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:

2 (Lev 4:27; Ps 19:12) Speak to the children of Israel, saying:

When a person sins unintentionally against any of the commandments

of the Lord that should not be done, and he violates one of them,

3 (Lev 4:14; 9:2) if the anointed priest sins, so as to bring guilt

on the people, he shall bring for his sin that he has committed

a bull without blemish to the Lord for a sin offering.

4 (Lev 1:3-4) He shall bring the bull to the opening of the tent

of meeting before the Lord, and he shall lay his hand on the bull's head

and slaughter the bull before the Lord.

5 (Lev 16:14; 4:16-17) The anointed priest shall take some

of the bull's blood and bring it into the tent of meeting.

6 The priest shall dip his finger in the blood and sprinkle

some of the blood seven times before the Lord in front of the veil

of the sanctuary.

7 (Lev 8:15; 9:9; 16:18) Then the priest shall put some of the blood

on the horns of the altar of fragrant incense before the Lord

which is in the tent of meeting, and shall pour the rest of the blood

of the bull at the base of the altar of the burnt offering which is

at the door of the tent of meeting.

8 (Lev 3:3-5) Then he shall remove all the fat of the bull that is

for the sin offering - the fat that covers the entrails - and all the fat

that is on the entrails,

9 (Lev 3:4) and the two kidneys with the fat that is above them,

which is on the loins, and the appendage on the liver

which he shall remove with the kidneys,

10 just as these are removed from the bull of the peace sacrifice,

and the priest shall burn them on the altar of the burnt offering.

11 (Nu 19:5; Ex 29:14) The skin of the bull, and all its flesh,

with its head, its legs, its entrails, and its dung,

12 (Heb 13:11; Ex 29:14) all the rest of the bull,

he shall bring outside the camp to a ritually clean

("Clean: and "unclean" refer to ceremonial aspects of places,

objects, or people.) place at the ash pile and burn it on wood

with fire. It shall be burned on the ash heap.

13 (Lev 5:17; 5:2-5) If the whole congregation of Israel

commits an unintentional sin, and the matter is hidden

from the eyes of the assembly, and they do any one of the things

that by the commandments of the Lord should not be done,

and they are found guilty,

14 (Lev 4:3; 4:23) and the sin that they committed

against the commandment becomes known,

the congregation shall offer a bull for a sin offering,

and they will bring it before the tent of meeting.

15 (Lev 1:4) The elders of the congregation shall lay

their hands on the head of the bull before the Lord,

and the bull will be slaughtered before the Lord.

16 (Lev 4:5-12) The anointed priest shall bring

some of the bull's blood to the tent of meeting.

17 And the priest shall dip his finger in some of the blood

and sprinkle it seven times before the Lord in front of the veil.

18 He shall put some of the blood on the horns of the altar that is before

the Lord, which is in the tent of meeting, and he shall pour all the rest

of the blood at the base of the altar of the burnt offering that is

at the opening of the tent of meeting.

19 He shall remove all the fat from it and burn it on the altar.

20 (Nu 15:25; Heb 10:10-12) He shall do to this bull just

as he did to the bull of the sin offering;

this is what he will do to it.

And the priest shall make atonement for them, and they shall be forgiven.

21 (Lev 16:15) He shall bring the bull outside the camp,

and he shall burn it just as he burned the first bull.

It is the sin offering of the congregation.

22 (Lev 4:2; 4:13) Whenever a leader sins,

and he does unintentionally any one of the things that

by the commandments of the Lord his God should not be done

and is found guilty,

23 (Lev 4:14) or his sin that he committed was made known to him,

he shall bring as his offering a male goat without blemish,

24 and he shall lay his hand on the head of the goat,

and he shall slaughter it in the place where they slaughter

the burnt offering before the Lord. It is a sin offering.

25 (Lev 4:7; 4:18) The priest shall take some of the blood

of the sin offering on his finger and put it on the horns

of the altar of the burnt offering, and he shall pour out its blood

at the base of the altar of the burnt offering.

26 (Lev 4:20; 3:5) And he shall burn all its fat on the altar,

like the fat of the peace sacrifice, and the priest shall make

atonement for him for his sin, and he shall be forgiven.

27 (Lev 4:2; Nu 15:27; Lev 4:13) If any one of the common people

should sin unintentionally by doing one of the things

that by the commandments of the Lord should not be done,

and is found guilty,

28 (Lev 4:23; 4:3; 4:32) or his sin that he committed

was made known to him, he shall bring as his offering

a female goat without blemish, for his sin that he committed.

29 (Lev 4:4; 4:24) He shall lay his hand on the head of the sin offering,

and he shall slaughter the sin offering in the place of the burnt offering.

30 (Lev 4:7; 4:25) The priest shall take some of its blood on his finger

and put it on the horns of the altar of the burnt offering,

and he shall pour out the rest of its blood at the base of the altar.

31 (Lev 4:26; 4:35; 1:9) And he shall remove all its fat,

just as the fat is removed from the peace sacrifice,

and the priest shall burn it on the altar for a pleasing aroma to the Lord,

and the priest shall make atonement for him, and he shall be forgiven.

32 (Lev 4:28; 1Pe 2:22; 3:18) And if he brings a sheep for a sin offering,

he shall bring a female without blemish,

33 and lay his hand on the head of the sin offering, and he shall

slaughter it for a sin offering in the place where they slaughter

the burnt offering.

34 (Lev 4:7; 4:25) The priest shall take some of the blood

of the sin offering on his finger and put it on the horns

of the altar of the burnt offering, and all the rest of its blood

he shall pour out at the base of the altar.

35 (Lev 4:26; 4:20) And he shall remove all the fat, just as

the fat of the sheep is removed from the peace sacrifice,

and the priest shall burn it on the altar as a food offering

to the Lord made by fire. And the priest shall make atonement

for his sin that he committed, and he shall be forgiven.

blood seven times before the LORD, before the vail of the sanctuary.

of sweet incense before the LORD, which is in the tabernacle of the

the altar of the burnt offering, which is at the door of the tabernacle of

the congregation.

offering; the fat that covereth the inwards, and all the fat that is upon

the inwards,

[9] And the two kidneys, and the fat that is upon them, which is by the

flanks, and the caul above the liver, with the kidneys, it shall he take

[10] As it was taken off from the bullock of the sacrifice of peace

offerings: and the priest shall burn them upon the altar of the burnt

offering.

the tabernacle of the congregation:

place where they kill the burnt offering before the LORD: it is a sin

offering.

[25] And the priest shall take of the blood of the sin offering with his

finger, and put it upon the horns of the altar of burnt offering, and shall

pour out his blood at the bottom of the altar of burnt offering.

[26] And he shall burn all his fat upon the altar, as the fat of the

sacrifice of peace offerings: and the priest shall make an atonement for him

as concerning his sin, and it shall be forgiven him.

[27] And if any one of the common people sin through ignorance, while he

doeth somewhat against any of the commandments of the LORD concerning things

which ought not to be done, and be guilty;

[28] Or if his sin, which he hath sinned, come to his knowledge: then he

the altar for a sweet savour unto the LORD; and the priest shall make an

atonement for him, and it shall be forgiven him.

[32] And if he bring a lamb for a sin offering, he shall bring it a female

without blemish.

[33] And he shall lay his hand upon the head of the sin offering, and slay

it for a sin offering in the place where they kill the burnt offering

[34] And the priest shall take of the blood of the sin offering with his

finger, and put it upon the horns of the altar of burnt offering, and shall

pour out all the blood thereof at the bottom of the altar:

[35] And he shall take away all the fat thereof, as the fat of the lamb is

taken away from the sacrifice of the peace offerings; and the priest shall

burn them upon the altar, according to the offerings made by fire unto the

LORD: and the priest shall make an atonement for his sin that he hath

committed, and it shall be forgiven him.

and give you peace.

27 (2Ch 7:14; Dt 28:10) They will put My name upon the children

of Israel, and I will bless them.

"Sometimes I just feel so . . . invisible." The word hung in the air as Joanie

talked to her friend. Her husband had left for another woman, leaving Joanie

with young children still at home. "I gave him my best years," she confided.

"And now I don't know if anyone would really see me or take the time

to actually know me."



"I'm so sorry," her friend responded. "My dad walked out when I was six,

and it was hard for us, especially Mom. But she said this thing when she

tucked me in at night that I never forgot: 'God never closes His eyes.'

When I was older, she explained she was trying to teach me that God

loved me and watched over me always, even while I slept."



The Bible presents words God gave Moses to share with His people during

a challenging time, when they were wandering in Sinai's desert:

"The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you

and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace"

(Numbers 6:24-26). The blessing was to be spoken by the priests over

the people.



Even in life's wildernesses - those places where we wonder if anyone

sees us or truly understands - God is faithful. God's favour - His

shining face and enduring love - is always turned toward those who

love Him, even when we can't feel Him because of our pain.

No one is invisible to God.

Week 2 - Saved by Grace - Day 5 - Starting Over



2 Cor 5:17



17 (Jn 3:3; Ro 16:7) Therefore, if any man is in Christ,

he is a new creature. Old things have passed away.

Look, all things have become new.



17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature:

old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.



"The trouble with turning over a new leaf," Gordon sighed,

"is that once you've done it twice, you're right back where

you started." Gordon, in his mid-fifties, had his job

"canceled" by a company wanting to cut back on retirement payments.

Out of work, with few prospects, he said wistfully,

"I wish I had the chance to start over again."

Many of us would echo Gordon's sentiments. Whether we have lost a job,

gone through a divorce, moved to another part of the country, or

experienced some lesser crisis, we often long for the chance to

begin again, fresh, without the shadow of past mistakes following us.

God's word offers just such an opportunity. Anyone who is in Christ,

Paul says in 2 Cor 5:17, is a "new creation". For the Christian, the past

is truly past - "all things are become new". In the forgiveness

and restoration of God's grace we can leave the past behind,

with all its mistakes, and enter into new life.

And the promise is not just for the newly saved. Those of us who

have been Christians for years need to hear the truth of 2 Cor 5:17 again,

for we accumulated some "new mistakes" since we came to Christ. Anyone who

is in Christ is a new creation; the freedom of forgiveness, of

"starting over" is available to all who call upon the name of the Lord.

We cannot every really "start over" simply by establishing New Year's

resolutions or turning over a new leaf. Only God gives us that opportunity;

his grace allows us to clear away the rubble of the past and begin again.

Everything becomes new in God's loving forgiveness.

Calgary is notable as the first Canadian city with a Muslim mayor. It's

become a prominent place of Islamic fundamentalism.

Edmonton's Muslim population is very diverse, with the largest group

coming from Tanzania, followed by Somalia, and then North African countries

such as Egypt, Morocco, etc.

Muslims are coming to faith in Jesus! They overcome huge spiritual,

emotional and cultural hurdles to follow Christ. Yet their challenges still

continue, especially in growing in discipleship. They often fell lost in our

Western congregations, and equally lost trying to find a church body with whom

they can identify. some are even being lured into Christian cult groups.

- for Canadian churches to start contextualised discipleship ministries to

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month

and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days

of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that

usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,

of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be

decorated and festivals will be held.



For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the

distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of

Islam.



You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",

which means Blessed Eid!"



Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you

know, and Muslims around the world:



- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions

in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about

unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such

movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three

decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim

relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.

Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,

"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;

your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.

18 Even on My menservants and maidservants

I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.

Christ's love.

"The Giggle" is a divisive episode of Doctor Who that marks the end of the

Thirteenth Doctor's era and the beginning of the Fourteenth. It's a bold

and ambitious episode, but it also has some significant flaws.



**Strengths:**



**Ncuti Gatwa's Debut:** Ncuti Gatwa makes a strong debut as the Fourteenth

Doctor, instantly capturing the essence of the character with his charisma

and energy.



**Visual Spectacle:** The episode boasts impressive visuals, with stunning

CGI and imaginative set pieces.



**Nostalgia Factor:** The episode is packed with nostalgic nods to classic

Doctor Who, including the return of the Toymaker and cameos

from past companions.



**Exploration of the Doctor's Legacy:** The episode explores the Doctor's

impact on history and the complexities of his legacy.



**Weaknesses:**



**Overstuffed and Disjointed:** The episode feels overstuffed with ideas,

trying to cram in too many elements and fan service moments. This leads

to a disjointed and somewhat chaotic narrative.



**Underwhelming Villain:** The Toymaker, despite being a classic villain,

Making the Priestly Garments

they made woven garments for serving in the holy place and made

the holy garments for Aaron, just as the Lord commanded Moses.





[1] And of the blue, and purple, and scarlet, they made cloths of service,

to do service in the holy place, and made the holy garments for Aaron; as

the LORD commanded Moses.



Making the Ephod

Ex 28:6-14



2 (Ex 28:6-12 ) He made the ephod of gold, blue, purple, and scarlet,

and fine twisted linen.

3 Then they hammered the gold into thin sheets and cut it into threads

to work them into the blue, the purple, the scarlet, and the fine linen,

with skillful work.

4 They made shoulder pieces for it, in order to attach it together.

It was joined by the two edges together.

5 The skillfully woven waistband of his ephod that was on it was like it,

of the same material, of gold, blue, purple, and scarlet,

and fine twisted linen, just as the Lord commanded Moses.

6 (Ex 28:9) They set the onyx stones enclosed in gold filigree settings;

Making the Breastplate

Ex 28:15-28



8 He made the breastplate, the work of a skillful workman,

like the workmanship of the ephod: of gold, blue, purple, and scarlet,

and fine twisted linen.

9 It was square. They made the breastplate folded double, a span

(About 9 inches, or 23 centimeters.)

long and a span wide when doubled.

10 They set in it four rows of stones. A row of sardius, topaz,

and carbuncle was the first row;

11 the second row, an emerald, a sapphire, and a diamond;

12 the third row, a jacinth, an agate, and an amethyst;

13 and the fourth row, a beryl, an onyx, and a jasper.

[8] And he made the breastplate of cunning work, like the work of the ephod;

of gold, blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen.

length thereof, and a span the breadth thereof, being doubled.

Ex 28:31 - 43



22 Then he made the robe of the ephod of woven work, all of blue.

23 There was an opening in the middle of the robe,

like the opening of a coat of mail,

with a band all around the opening so that it should not be torn.

24 They made on the hems of the robe pomegranates of blue, purple,

and scarlet, and twisted linen.

25 They made bells of pure gold and put the bells between

the pomegranates all around on the hem of the robe.

26 There was a bell and a pomegranate, a bell and a pomegranate,

all around about the hem of the robe to be used in service,

just as the Lord commanded Moses.

27 (Eze 44:18) They made tunics of finely woven linen

for Aaron and his sons,

28 (Ex 28:4) and the turban of fine linen,

The Glory of the Lord



34 (Nu 9:15 - 23; Rev 15:8) Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting,

and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.

Many years ago, my husband decided to take a trip to Africa with a group of

people from his church. At the last minute, the group was prevented from going

on its journey. Everyone was disappointed, but the money they'd collected for

airfare, lodging, and food was donated to the people they'd tried to visit.

The people used it to construct a building

that would shelter victims of abuse.



Recently, at a prayer breakfast, my husband met someone

who lived in the village he'd almost traveled to so many years ago.

This person was a teacher who said he walked by the building every day.

He confirmed that God had used it to provide for the most vulnerable people

in the area.



Our plans and desires don't always match what God has in mind.

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,

saith the LORD." (Isaiah 55:8). God's ways aren't just different from ours;

His ways are "higher" and better because what He does is consistent

with who He is (v. 9). This truth gives us hope when our efforts to serve

Him don't turn out the way we'd planned.



It might be years before we're able to look back and trace God's influence

through certain situations. For now, though, as we continue to reach out to

the world in His name, we can remember that God is always powerfully

at work (v. 11).

At age 17 Mary, a cross-country runner, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

She went on to college, faced with the prospect of gradual physical decline

and, ultimately, life in a wheelchair. "The worst part," Mary admitted "is

not the pain or the inability to do what I once did. The worst part is

the hopelessness, the emotional struggle. There is no cure, no real

treatment - only insurance."

In our fallen world, there are many incurable circumstances we have to endure.

But the guilt of our sin is not one of them. Yet despite the declaration

of the Scripture that Jesus' sacrificial death paid the price for our sins,

many of us carry a load of guilt - as if we ourselves had tp pay the price.

Paul, a man who know the grace of God and the depth of his own sin,

emphasises the source and the completeness of our forgiveness.

Through Jesus - not through my good behaviour, not through my determination to

change, not through my reputation, my family's faith, or my religious duties.

Forgiveness of sins come through Christ alone, a gift we do not deserve,

a gift which places all of us on equal ground at the foot of the cross.

To acknowledge our sin without knowing the source of forgiveness only

results in hopelessness and despair - we see ourselves, yet we are powerless

to change the sin we see. But when we realise that Christ has provided

complete forgiveness of sin, we can face our sin honestly, knowing

the freedom of confession and the restoration of forgiveness.

Calgary is notable as the first Canadian city with a Muslim mayor. It's

become a prominent place of Islamic fundamentalism.

Edmonton's Muslim population is very diverse, with the largest group

coming from Tanzania, followed by Somalia, and then North African countries

such as Egypt, Morocco, etc.

Muslims are coming to faith in Jesus! They overcome huge spiritual,

emotional and cultural hurdles to follow Christ. Yet their challenges still

continue, especially in growing in discipleship. They often fell lost in our

Western congregations, and equally lost trying to find a church body with whom

they can identify. some are even being lured into Christian cult groups.



Please join us in praying for:

- for Canadian churches to start contextualised discipleship ministries to

Muslim-background believers.

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month

and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days

of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that

usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,

of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be

decorated and festivals will be held.



For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the

distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of

Islam.



You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",

which means Blessed Eid!"



Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you

know, and Muslims around the world:



- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions

in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about

unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such

movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three

decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim

relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.

Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,

"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;

your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.

18 Even on My menservants and maidservants

I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.

19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below:

blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,

prayer is that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ will penetrate

the darkness and reveal the Father's love to them.

EXODUS 36



1 (Ex 28:3; 25:8) So Bezalel and Oholiab, and every skilled person,

in whom the Lord has put skill and understanding to know how to do

all manner of work for the service of the sanctuary, are to do the work

according to all that the Lord has commanded.

2 (Ex 31:6; 1Ch 29:5 ) Moses called Bezalel and Oholiab and every skilled

person in whom the Lord had put wisdom, everyone whose heart stirred him

to come to the work to do it.

3 (Ex 35:29) They received from Moses all the offerings which the children

of Israel had brought to do the work of the service of the sanctuary,

and they continued to bring to him freewill offerings every morning.

4 And all the skilled men who were doing all the work of the sanctuary

came from the work they were doing,

5 (2Ch 24:14; 2Co 8:2-3) and they said to Moses,

"The people are bringing much more than is needed

for the service of the work which the Lord commanded us to do."

6 So Moses issued a command, and they circulated a proclamation

throughout the camp, saying, "Let no man or woman do any more work

for the offering of the sanctuary.- So the people were restrained

from bringing any more.

7 For the material they had was sufficient for all the work

and more than enough to do it.

Construction of the Tabernacle



Ex 26:1-37



8 Every skilled man among those who were doing the work made

the tabernacle with ten curtains of fine twisted linen,

and blue, and purple, and scarlet,

with cherubim that were the work of skillful workmen.

9 The length of each curtain was twenty-eight cubits,

and the width of each curtain four cubits.

(About 9 inches, or 23 centimeters.)

All of the curtains were the same size.

10 He joined the five curtains to one another,

and the other five curtains he joined to one to another.

11 He made loops of blue on the edge of the outermost

curtain in the first set. He did likewise along the edge

of the outermost curtain in the second set.

12 (Ex 26:5) He made fifty loops in the one curtain

and made fifty loops on the edge of the curtain

which was in the second set. The loops were opposite one another.

13 He made fifty gold clasps and joined the curtains

to one another with the clasps, so that the tabernacle was a unit.

14 (Ex 26:7-13) He made curtains of goats' hair for a tent

over the tabernacle. He made eleven curtains in all.

15 The length of each curtain was thirty cubits,

and the width of each curtain was four cubits.

(About 45 feet long and 6 feet wide, or 14 meters long and 1.8 meters wide.)

The eleven curtains were all the same size.

16 He joined five curtains by themselves and six curtains by themselves.

17 He made fifty loops on the outermost edge of the curtain in the first

set, and he made fifty loops on the edge of the curtain which joined

the second set.

18 He made fifty bronze clasps to join the tent together,

so that it would be one unit.

19 He made a covering for the tent out of rams' skins

dyed red and a covering of porpoise skins above.

20 (Ex 25:5) Then he made boards for the tabernacle out of acacia wood,

standing upright.

21 The length of each board was ten cubits, and the width of each board

was one and a half cubits.

(About 15 feet long and 2 1/4 feet wide, or 4.5 meters long

and 68 centimeters wide.)

22 Each board had two tenons, equally distant from each other.

He did this for all the boards of the tabernacle.

23 He made boards for the tabernacle: twenty boards for the south side.

24 He made forty sockets of silver under the twenty boards;

two sockets under one board for its two tenons

and two sockets under another board for its two tenons.

25 For the other side of the tabernacle,

which is toward the north corner,

he made twenty boards,

26 and their forty sockets of silver: two sockets under one board,

and two sockets under another board.

27 For the back of the tabernacle westward he made six boards.

28 He made two boards for the corners of the tabernacle at the back.

29 They were doubled beneath and joined together at the top in one ring.

He did this with both of them in both the corners.

30 There were eight boards with their sockets of silver, sixteen sockets,

two under every board.

31 (Ex 26:26-29) He made bars of acacia wood,

five for the boards of one side of the tabernacle,

32 and five bars for the boards of the other side of the tabernacle,

and five bars for the boards of the tabernacle for the back to the west.

33 He made the middle bar to pass through

the boards from the one end to the other.

34 He overlaid the boards with gold,

and made their rings of gold to be places for the bars,

and overlaid the bars with gold.

35 (Mt 27:51) He made a veil of blue, and purple,

and scarlet, and fine twined linen. He made cherubim,

the work of a skillful designer.

36 He made four pillars of acacia wood and overlaid them

with gold with their hooks of gold,

and he cast four sockets of silver for them.

37 He made a hanging for the tabernacle

entrance of blue, purple, scarlet, and fine twisted linen,

the work of an embroiderer.

38 And he made its five pillars with their hooks,

and he overlaid their tops and their bands with gold,

but their five sockets were of bronze.



[8] And every wise hearted man among them that wrought the work of the

tabernacle made ten curtains of fine twined linen, and blue, and purple, and

scarlet: with cherubims of cunning work made he them.

[9] The length of one curtain was twenty and eight cubits, and the breadth

of one curtain four cubits: the curtains were all of one size.

[10] And he coupled the five curtains one unto another: and the other five

curtains he coupled one unto another.

[11] And he made loops of blue on the edge of one curtain from the selvedge

in the coupling: likewise he made in the uttermost side of another curtain,

in the coupling of the second.

[12] Fifty loops made he in one curtain, and fifty loops made he in the edge

of the curtain which was in the coupling of the second: the loops held one

curtain to another.

[13] And he made fifty taches of gold, and coupled the curtains one unto

another with the taches: so it became one tabernacle.

[14] And he made curtains of goats' hair for the tent over the tabernacle:

eleven curtains he made them.

[15] The length of one curtain was thirty cubits, and four cubits was the

breadth of one curtain: the eleven curtains were of one size.

EXODUS 37



Making the Ark of the Covenant



Ex 25:10-20



1 Now Bezalel made the ark of acacia wood.

Its length was two and a half cubits,

and its width a cubit and a half,

and its height a cubit and a half.

(About 3 3/4 feet long and 2 1/4 feet wide and high,

or 1.1 meters long and 68 centimeters wide and high; similarly in v. 6.)

2 He overlaid it with pure gold, inside and out,

and made a gold molding for it all around.

3 He cast four rings of gold for it on its four feet,

with two rings on one side and two rings on the other side of it.

4 He made poles of acacia wood and overlaid them with gold.

5 He put the poles into the rings on the sides of the ark to carry the ark.

6 (Heb 9:5) He made the mercy seat of pure gold, two and a half cubits long

and one and a half cubits wide.

7 He made two cherubim of gold. He made them of hammered metal

on the two ends of the mercy seat:

8 one cherub on one end, and one cherub on the other end.

Of one piece with the mercy seat he made the cherubim on its two ends.

9 The cherubim spread out their wings upward, covering the mercy seat

with their wings, with their faces toward each other.

The faces of the cherubim were looking toward the mercy seat.



[1] And Bezaleel made the ark of shittim wood: two cubits and a half was the

length of it, and a cubit and a half the breadth of it, and a cubit and a

half the height of it:

[2] And he overlaid it with pure gold within and without, and made a crown

of gold to it round about.

[3] And he cast for it four rings of gold, to be set by the four corners of

it; even two rings upon the one side of it, and two rings upon the other

side of it.

[4] And he made staves of shittim wood, and overlaid them with gold.

[5] And he put the staves into the rings by the sides of the ark, to bear

the ark.

[6] And he made the mercy seat of pure gold: two cubits and a half was the

length thereof, and one cubit and a half the breadth thereof.

[7] And he made two cherubims of gold, beaten out of one piece made he them,

on the two ends of the mercy seat;

[8] One cherub on the end on this side, and another cherub on the other end

on that side: out of the mercy seat made he the cherubims on the two ends

thereof.

[9] And the cherubims spread out their wings on high, and covered with their

wings over the mercy seat, with their faces one to another; even to the

mercy seatward were the faces of the cherubims.



Making the Table for the Showbread



Ex 25:23-29



10 He made the table of acacia wood, two cubits long and a cubit wide

and a cubit and a half high. (About 3 feet long, 1 1/2 feet wide,

and 2 1/4 feet high, or 90 centimeters long, 45 centimeters wide,

and 68 centimeters high.

11 And he overlaid it with pure gold and made a gold molding for

it all around.

12 Also he made a rim for it of a handbreadth

(About 75 feet, or 23 meters.) all around, and he made a gold molding

for the rim all around.

13 He cast four rings of gold for it and put the rings on the four corners

that were on its four feet.

14 Close by the rim were the rings,

the holders for the poles to carry the table.

15 He made the poles of acacia wood and overlaid them with gold,

to carry the table.

16 He made the utensils which were on the table,

its dishes and its pans and its bowls and its jars,

to be used in pouring out offerings, of pure gold.





[10] And he made the table of shittim wood: two cubits was the length

thereof, and a cubit the breadth thereof, and a cubit and a half the height

thereof:

[11] And he overlaid it with pure gold, and made thereunto a crown of gold

round about.

[12] Also he made thereunto a border of an handbreadth round about; and made

a crown of gold for the border thereof round about.

[13] And he cast for it four rings of gold, and put the rings upon the four

corners that were in the four feet thereof.

[14] Over against the border were the rings, the places for the staves to

bear the table.

[15] And he made the staves of shittim wood, and overlaid them with gold, to

bear the table.

[16] And he made the vessels which were upon the table, his dishes, and his

spoons, and his bowls, and his covers to cover withal, of pure gold.



Making the Lampstand



Ex 25:31-39



17 (Ex 25:31-39; Heb 9:2) Then he made the lampstand of pure gold.

He made it of hammered work, its base and its shaft.

Its cups, its buds, and its blossoms were of the same piece.

18 Six branches were extending from its sides,

three branches of the lampstand from one side of it,

and three branches of the lampstand from the other side of it.

19 Three cups shaped like almond flowers,

a bulb and a flower were on the first branch,

and three cups shaped like almond flowers,

a bulb and a flower were on the next branch,

and the same for the six branches going out of the lampstand.

20 In the lampstand there were four cups made like almond flowers,

its bulbs and its flowers.

21 And a bulb was under the first two branches from it,

and a bulb under the next two branches from it,

and a bulb under the third two branches from it,

according to the six branches coming out of it.

22 Their bulbs and their branches were of the same piece.

All of it was one hammered work of pure gold.

23 He made its seven lamps with its snuffers and its trays of pure gold.

24 He made it and all of its utensils from a talent (About 75 pounds,

or 34 kilograms.) of pure gold.



[17] And he made the candlestick of pure gold: of beaten work made he the

candlestick; his shaft, and his branch, his bowls, his knops, and his

flowers, were of the same:

[18] And six branches going out of the sides thereof; three branches of the

candlestick out of the one side thereof, and three branches of the

candlestick out of the other side thereof:

[19] Three bowls made after the fashion of almonds in one branch, a knop and

a flower; and three bowls made like almonds in another branch, a knop and a

flower: so throughout the six branches going out of the candlestick.

[20] And in the candlestick were four bowls made like almonds, his knops,

and his flowers:

[21] And a knop under two branches of the same, and a knop under two

branches of the same, and a knop under two branches of the same, according

to the six branches going out of it.

[22] Their knops and their branches were of the same: all of it was one

beaten work of pure gold.

[23] And he made his seven lamps, and his snuffers, and his snuffdishes, of

pure gold.

[24] Of a talent of pure gold made he it, and all the vessels thereof.

Making the Altar of Incense

25 (Ex 30:1-5) He made the incense altar of acacia wood.

Its length was a cubit, and the width a cubit, a square,

Its horns were of the same piece.

26 He overlaid it with pure gold, its top, its sides all around,

and its horns. He also made a gold molding for it all around.

on its two sides, on opposite sides, to be places for the poles to carry it.

Making the Altar of Burnt Offering



Ex 27:1-8



1 (Ex 27:1-8) He made the altar of burnt offering of acacia wood.

It was five cubits (About 71/2 feet, or 2.3 meters long and wide.)

long and five cubits wide. It was square, and it was three cubits high.

(About 4 1/2 feet, or 1.4 meters.)

2 He made its horns on its four corners.

The horns were part of the same piece,

and he overlaid it with bronze.

3 He made all the utensils of the altar, the pots, and the shovels,

and the basins, the flesh hooks, and the fire pans.

He made all its utensils of bronze.

4 He made for the altar a bronze grating, a network beneath,

under its ledge, reaching halfway up.

5 He cast four rings for the four ends of the bronze grating

to provide places for the poles.

6 He made the poles of acacia wood and overlaid them with bronze.

7 He put the poles into the rings on the sides of the altar with

which to carry it. He made the altar hollow, out of boards.

Making the Bronze Basin



8 (Ex 40:7) He made the basin of bronze with its base of bronze

from the mirrors of the women who served

at the entrance of the tent of meeting.



[8] And he made the laver of brass, and the foot of it of brass, of the

lookingglasses of the women assembling, which assembled at the door of the

tabernacle of the congregation.



Making the Court of the Tabernacle

9 (Ex 27:9-19) He made the courtyard: On the south side southward

the hangings of the courtyard were of fine twisted linen,

one hundred cubits; (About 9 inches, or 23 centimeters.)

10 their twenty pillars and their twenty bases were of bronze.

The hooks of the pillars and their bands were of silver.

11 For the north side the hangings were one hundred cubits;

their twenty pillars and their twenty sockets were of bronze.

12 For the west side the hangings were fifty cubits

and all the pillars of the courtyard were furnished with silver bands.

18 The screen for the gate of the courtyard was embroidered of

blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twisted linen.

Its length was twenty cubits, (About 30 feet, or 9 meters.)

and its height was five cubits, (About 7 1/2 feet, or 2.3 meters.)

corresponding to the hangings of the courtyard.

19 Their four pillars and their four sockets were of bronze.

Their hooks and their bands were of silver,

and the overlaying of their tops and their bands were of silver.

20 All the tent pegs of the tabernacle

and of the courtyard all around were bronze.



[9] And he made the court: on the south side southward the hangings of the

court were of fine twined linen, an hundred cubits:

[10] Their pillars were twenty, and their brasen sockets twenty; the hooks

of the pillars and their fillets were of silver.

[11] And for the north side the hangings were an hundred cubits, their

pillars were twenty, and their sockets of brass twenty; the hooks of the

pillars and their fillets of silver.

[12] And for the west side were hangings of fifty cubits, their pillars ten,

and their sockets ten; the hooks of the pillars and their fillets of silver.

[13] And for the east side eastward fifty cubits.

[14] The hangings of the one side of the gate were fifteen cubits; their

pillars three, and their sockets three.

[15] And for the other side of the court gate, on this hand and that hand,

[18] And the hanging for the gate of the court was needlework, of blue, and

purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen: and twenty cubits was the

length, and the height in the breadth was five cubits, answerable to the

hangings of the court.

[19] And their pillars were four, and their sockets of brass four; their

hooks of silver, and the overlaying of their chapiters and their fillets of

silver.

[20] And all the pins of the tabernacle, and of the court round about, were

of brass.

The Inventory of the Tabernacle



21 (Nu 1:50; 1:53) This is the inventory of the tabernacle,

the tabernacle of testimony, as it was counted according

to the commandment of Moses for the service of the Levites

by the hand of Ithamar, son of Aaron the priest.

22 Bezalel, the son of Uri the son of Hur of the tribe of Judah,

made all that the Lord commanded Moses.

23 (Ex 35:34) With him was Oholiab the son of Ahisamak,

of the tribe of Dan, an engraver and designer,

an embroiderer in blue and purple and scarlet yarns, and fine linen.

24 (Lev 27:25; Nu 3:47) All the gold that was used for the work,

in all the work of the sanctuary, even the gold of the wave offering,

was twenty-nine talents,

and seven hundred and thirty shekels, (A little over a ton, or 1 metric ton.)

according to the shekel of the sanctuary.

25 The silver of those who were numbered of the congregation was

one hundred talents, (About 3 3/4 tons, or 3.4 metric tons; and in v. 27.)

and a thousand, seven hundred and seventy-five shekels,

(About 44 pounds, or 20 kilograms; and in v. 28.)

according to the shekel of the sanctuary;

26 (Nu 1:46; Ex 12:37; 30:13) a bekah for every man, that is, half a shekel,

(About 1/5 ounce, or 5.7 grams.) according to the shekel of the sanctuary,

for everyone who was numbered, from twenty years old and upward,

for six hundred and three thousand, five hundred and fifty men.

27 (Ex 26:19; 26:21) The hundred talents of silver were for casting

the sockets of the sanctuary and the sockets of the veil — a hundred

sockets ofthe hundred talents, a talent for a socket.

28 Of the one thousand seven hundred seventy-five shekels,

he made hooks for the pillars and overlaid their tops

and made bands for them.

29 The bronze of the wave offering was seventy talents

and two thousand four hundred shekels.

(About 2 1/2 tons, or 2.4 metric tons.)

30 (Ex 26:37) With it he made the sockets

for the door of the tent of meeting,

and the bronze altar and its bronze grating,

and all theutensils of the altar,

31 and the sockets of the courtyard all around,

and the sockets of the courtyard gate,

and all the tent pegs of the tabernacle,

and all the tent pegs of the courtyard all around.



[21] This is the sum of the tabernacle, even of the tabernacle of testimony,

as it was counted, according to the commandment of Moses, for the service of

sanctuary, and the sockets of the vail; an hundred sockets of the hundred

talents, a talent for a socket.

[28] And of the thousand seven hundred seventy and five shekels he made

hooks for the pillars, and overlaid their chapiters, and filleted them.

[29] And the brass of the offering was seventy talents, and two thousand and

four hundred shekels.

[30] And therewith he made the sockets to the door of the tabernacle of the

congregation, and the brasen altar, and the brasen grate for it, and all the

vessels of the altar,

For years, Evan struggled with an addiction that kept him from drawing close

to God. How can I be worthy of His love? he wondered. So, while he kept going

to church, he felt that there was an unbridgeable chasm that kept him

separated from God.



Yet, whenever Evan prayed earnestly for something, God seemed to answer him.

God also sent people to encourage and comfort him in difficult times. After

some years, Evan realised God was constantly pursuing him and showing that

He'd always loved and cared for him, and that's when he began to trust in

God's forgiveness and love. "Now, I know that I'm forgiven and can let God

draw me close to Him, even though I'm still struggling with my addiction,"

he said.



Ezekiel 34:11-16 tells us of a God who pursued His people.

"Behold, I, even I, will both search my sheep, and seek them out." He said,

vowing to rescue them and provide for them abundantly (v. 11). This was

after their human leaders abandoned them, and they themselves disobeyed

their true shepherd (vv.1-6). Whether we're helpless victims of circumstances

or struggling with the consequences of our own sin, God pursues us in love.

In His mercy and grace, He draws us back to Himself. If you've forgotten God,

turn back to Him. Then, as He leads, continue to walk with Him each day.

Acts 4:12

"You have cancer", the doctor told his patient. "We need to operate

- as soon as possible. It's the only remedy." The patient, not wanting

to undergo surgery unless it was absolutely necessary, sought out a second

opinion, then a third. When the third round of testing came up with the same

results, she returned to the doctor and submitted herself to the treatment.

Often the remedy for the problems in our lives seems worst than the problems

themselves. We don't want to endure the pain of self-examination, of honest

confrontation with our sin and selfishness. We'd rather live in "blissful

ignorance" than face up to ourselves.

But the Bible tells us there is only one remedy for sin: casting ourselves

upon the saving grace of God in Jesus Christ. Submitting ourselves to God's

"treatment" for sin is not an easy matter or a simple decision. We have to

give up on ourselves, on our own striving for self-salvation. We have to come

to the agonising realisation of our sin, the depths to which we have fallen.

Acknowledging sin is not a duty simply for "bad" people who have lived in

rebellion against God. "Good" people - Sunday-school kids, moral parents,

and sweet little grandmothers - may have more difficulty coming to Christ

than swindlers and prostitutes, precisely because their sin is not as

visible - sometimes it is even applauded by church and society.

"Good" or "bad", we all have the same problem: sin. And, because

of the Lord's grace, we all have the same remedy: salvation through Christ.

As we look to him, not to others, and see ourselves in light of his holiness,

we can glimpse the seriousness of our own resistance to him and call upon

his name.

Edmonton's Muslim population is very diverse, with the largest group

coming from Tanzania, followed by Somalia, and then North African countries

such as Egypt, Morocco, etc.

Muslims are coming to faith in Jesus! They overcome huge spiritual,

emotional and cultural hurdles to follow Christ. Yet their challenges still

continue, especially in growing in discipleship. They often fell lost in our

Western congregations, and equally lost trying to find a church body with whom

they can identify. some are even being lured into Christian cult groups.

- The church to reach out to the growing Muslim populations in Alberta.

- for Canadian churches to start contextualised discipleship ministries to

Muslim-background believers.

- for Muslm-background believers to be well grounded spiritually and socially

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month

and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days

of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that

usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,

of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be

decorated and festivals will be held.



For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the

distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of

Islam.



You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",

which means Blessed Eid!"



Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you

know, and Muslims around the world:



- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions

in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about

unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such

movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three

decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim

relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.

"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;

your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.

DAY SIXTEEN:



PRAY FOR THE CONSEQUENCES OF THEIR SIN TO BECOME CLEAR TO THEM



It can be heartbreaking to watch a loved one make choices that lead them

further into sin and separation from God. As believers, we know that true

freedom and healing come from repentance, yet our prayers and efforts can

sometimes feel unnoticed. We must trust God’s power to open their eyes to

the truth.



In Luke 15, the story of the prodigal son illustrates that there often comes a

moment when the wayward realize the consequences of their actions. Verse 17

states, "When he came to his senses...". This moment of clarity-when the

prodigal recognises their sin and its impact-serves as a turning point. It's

not something we can force but something we can earnestly pray for.



As we continue to lift them up in prayer, we should ask God to soften their

hearts and reveal the truth of their actions. Our words may not always reach

them, but the Holy Spirit can convict in ways we cannot. Trust that God's

Spirit is at work even when we can't see it and continue asking for their

hearts to be opened to come to their senses and return to the Father's

loving arms.

"The Star Beast" is a bit of a mixed bag for many Doctor Who fans. It's a celebratory special for the show's 60th anniversary, but it struggles to find its footing and lacks the emotional resonance of some previous specials.



**Strengths:**



**Nostalgia:** The episode is packed with nostalgic nods to classic Doctor Who, from the return of familiar monsters to cameos from past companions. This will undoubtedly appeal to long-time fans.

**Visual Spectacle:** The episode boasts impressive visuals, with stunning CGI and a cinematic scope.

**David Tennant and Catherine Tate's Chemistry:** The chemistry between David Tennant and Catherine Tate is undeniable, and their return as the Tenth Doctor and Donna Noble is a highlight for many viewers.



**Weaknesses:**



**Overstuffed and Disjointed:** The episode feels overstuffed with ideas, trying to cram in too many elements and fan service moments. This leads to a disjointed and somewhat chaotic narrative.

pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before you.

I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious

and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy."

20 (Isa 6:5; Ge 32:30; Ex 24:10) He said, "You cannot see My face,

for no man can see Me and live."

21 Then the Lord said, "Indeed, there is a place by Me.

You must stand on the rock.

22 (Ps 91:4; 91:1) While My glory passes by,

I will put you in a cleft of the rock

and will cover you with My hand while I pass by.

[17] And the LORD said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast

spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.

[18] And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory.

[19] And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will

proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I

will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.

[20] And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me,

and live.

EXODUS 34



The New Stone Tablets



1 (Ex 32:19; 31:18; 32:16) Now the Lord said to Moses,

"Cut out for yourself two tablets of stone like the first,

and I will write on these tablets the words

that were on the first tablets, which you broke.

2 (Ex 19:20) Be ready in the morning,

and come up in the morning to Mount Sinai,

and present yourself there to Me on the top of the mountain.

3 (Ex 19:12-13; 19:21) No one is to come up with you.

Do not let anyone be seen anywhere on the mountain,

and the flocks or herds may not graze in front of the mountain."

4 So he cut out two tablets of stone like the first,

and Moses rose up early in the morning and went up to Mount Sinai,

just as the Lord had commanded him,

and took in his hand the two tablets of stone.

5 (Ex 33:19; 33:9) Then the Lord descended in the cloud,

and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the Lord.

6 (Ro 2:4; Ne 9:17; Ps 86:15) The Lord passed by before him,

and proclaimed, "The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious,

slow to anger, and abounding in goodness and truth,

7 (Ex 20:5-6; Job 10:14) keeping mercy for thousands,

forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin,

but who will by no means clear the guilty,

visiting the iniquity of fathers on the children

and on the children's children,

to the third and the fourth generation."

our iniquity and our sin, and take us for thine inheritance.



The Covenant Renewed



10 (Dt 5:2-3; 10:21) Then He said: Indeed, I am going to make

a covenant before all your people. I will do wonders such as

have not been done in all the earth nor in any nation.

And all the people among whom you live will see the work

of the Lord, for it is a fearful thing that I will do with you.

11 (Ex 33:2) Obey what I command you this day.

Indeed, I am going to drive out before you the Amorite, the Canaanite,

the Hittite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite.

12 (Ex 23:32-33; Dt 7:2) Watch yourself so that you make

no covenant with the inhabitants of the land where you are going,

lest it become a snare in your midst.

13 (Ex 23:24; 2Ki 18:4) But you shall destroy their altars,

break their sacred pillars, and cut down their Asherah poles

tenor of these words I have made a covenant with thee and with Israel.

[28] And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he did

neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words

of the covenant, the ten commandments.



Moses' Radiant Face



29 (Ex 32:15; Mt 17:2) When Moses came down from Mount Sinai

with the two tablets of testimony in the hands of Moses,

when he came down from the mountain, Moses did not know that

the skin of his face shone while he talked with Him.

30 So when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses,

amazingly, the skin of his face shone, and they were afraid

to come near him.

31 But Moses called to them, and Aaron

and all the rulers of the congregation returned to him,

and Moses spoke to them.

32 Afterward all the children of Israel drew near,

and he commanded them all that the Lord had spoken

to him on Mount Sinai.

33 When Moses finished speaking with them,

he put a veil over his face.

34 (2Co 3:16) But whenever Moses went in before the Lord to

speak with Him, he took the veil off until he came out.

Then he came out and spoke to the children of Israel

what he had been commanded.

35 The children of Israel saw the face of Moses,

that the skin of Moses' face shone,

and then Moses put the veil over his face again

until he went in to speak with Him.



[29] And it came to pass, when Moses came down from mount Sinai with the two

tables of testimony in Moses' hand, when he came down from the mount, that

Moses wist not that the skin of his face shone while he talked with him.

[30] And when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the

skin of his face shone; and they were afraid to come nigh him.

[31] And Moses called unto them; and Aaron and all the rulers of the

congregation returned unto him: and Moses talked with them.

[32] And afterward all the children of Israel came nigh: and he gave them in

commandment all that the LORD had spoken with him in mount Sinai.

[33] And till Moses had done speaking with them, he put a vail on his face.

[34] But when Moses went in before the LORD to speak with him, he took the

vail off, until he came out. And he came out, and spake unto the children of

Israel that which he was commanded.

[35] And the children of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of

Moses' face shone: and Moses put the vail upon his face again, until he went

in to speak with him.



EXODUS 35



Sabbath Regulations



1 (Ex 34:32 )Moses gathered all the congregation of the children

of Israel together, and said to them: These are the things

the Lord has commanded you to do.

2 (Ex 20:9-10; 34:21) Six days shall work be done,

but on the seventh day you shall have a holy day,

a Sabbath of rest to the Lord.

Whoever does any work on it must be put to death.

3 (Ex 16:23; 12:16)You must not kindle fire in any

of your dwellings on the Sabbath day.



[1] And Moses gathered all the congregation of the children of Israel

together, and said unto them, These are the words which the LORD hath

commanded, that ye should do them.

[2] Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day there shall be to

you an holy day, a sabbath of rest to the LORD: whosoever doeth work therein

8 oil for the light, and spices for anointing oil,

and for the fragrant incense,

and the hanging for the door at the entrance of the tabernacle;

with its bronze grating, its poles, and all its utensils,

the basin and its stand;

17 the hangings of the court, its pillars and their sockets,

and the curtain for the gate of the court;

18 (Ex 27:19) the pegs of the tabernacle

and the pegs of the court and their cords;

19 (Ex 31:10) the woven garments for serving

in the holy place,

the holy garments for Aaron the priest

and the garments of his sons,

to minister as priests.

20 Then all the congregation of the children of Israel

departed from the presence of Moses.

and everyone whose spirit was willing came

and brought the Lord's offering for the work of the tent of meeting

and for all its service and for the holy garments.

22 They came, both men and women, as many as had willing hearts,

all kinds of gold jewelry, and everyone that offered

an offering of gold to the Lord.

23 (1Ch 29:8) Everyone who had blue, purple, and scarlet,

and fine linen, and goats' hair, and red skins of rams,

24 Everyone who was making a contribution of silver and bronze

brought the Lord's offering, and everyone who had acacia wood

for any work of the service brought it.

25 (Ex 28:3) All the women that were skilled spun with their hands

and brought what they had spun, both of blue, purple, and scarlet,

and of fine linen.

26 (Ex 35:21) All the women whose hearts stirred them to action

and were skilled spun goats' hair.

27 (1Ch 29:6; Ezr 2:68) The leaders brought onyx stones

and gemstones to be set for the ephod and for the breastplate,

31 And He has filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom,

in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of craftsmanship,

32 to design artistic works, to work in gold, in silver, and in bronze,

33 and in the cutting of stones for settings and in the carving of wood

in order to make every manner of artistic work.

and sorrow in my heart by day?

How long will my enemy loom over me?

3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) Take note and answer me, O Lord my God!

Brighten my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death,

4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) lest my enemy say, "I have him,"

lest my foes exult when I stumble.

Psalm 13

Our final song at church included the cheerfully repeated affirmation of God's

faithfulness: "You'll never let me down!" I turned to find my friend on the

brink of tears. "How can I sing that?" she lamented. It was true. Everything

in her life was falling apart despite desperate, faithful prayer. She could

easily have sung, "How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will

you hide your face from me?" (Psalm 13:1).



Many of the Psalms, including Psalm 13, are full of painful laments: desperate

cries and honest admissions of heartfelt sorrow. In today's Psalm, David

wrestles through agonising thoughts that sound almost like a loss of faith

(v. 2)-but, in fact, they are quite the reverse. It takes faith to unburden

ourselves to the Lord so honestly, and then pray, as David does, asking Him

for what we need: "Look on me and answer, Lord my God" (v. 3). It is often

only then, after unburdening our souls and calling on God to help us, that we

can authentically praise Him from our hearts and rejoice in His goodness

and love (v. 5-6).



If you are struggling to praise God today, unburden your heart to Him. Be

honest. Ask Him for the help that only He can give. Remember His "unfailing

love" (v. 5). And then, faith will rise, and you can sing with David,

"He has been good to me" (v. 6).

"I only want my rights," declares the belligerent Big Ghost, one of the

characters in C. S. Lewis's classic, The Great Divorce. "I'm not asking

for anybody's bleeding charity."

"Then do. At once," his angelic friend Len urges. "Ask for the Bleeding

Charity. Everything is here for the asking and nothing can be bought."

Often we are much like the Ghost in Lewis's tale of heaven and hell.

We want "What we deserve," and being blind to our own sin, we think

we deserve praise, or al least mercy. But Paul is very clear on what

we have coming: "The wages of sin is death".

We work for our wages - we've earned our paycheque, and we deserve it.

We don't have to thank anyone for paying us - it's our due, not a gift.

Similarly, the paycheque issued to us in renumeration for our sin is

what we deserve: death.

Yet, if we are willing to lay aside our pride and accept God's gift,

we can live. "The gift of God is eternal life." Nothing we can do or say

can make us worthy of the gift of life. We are sinners by nature and we

rebel against God in our choices. Yet God, in Christ, offers grace to us,

freedom from sin, liberty from the burden of trying to earn his favour.

Ironically, freedom and peace in the Christian life come not through

justifying ourselves and making ourselves look good, but through

acknowledging the depth of our sin ad our ability to do anything about it.

When we realise that we are trapped in out sinful selves and only

Christ can free us, then we are ready to journey toward grace and freedom.

Alberta may have a total as high as 195240 today.

Calgary is notable as the first Canadian city with a Muslim mayor. It's

become a prominent place of Islamic fundamentalism.

Edmonton's Muslim population is very diverse, with the largest group

coming from Tanzania, followed by Somalia, and then North African countries

such as Egypt, Morocco, etc.

Muslims are coming to faith in Jesus! They overcome huge spiritual,

emotional and cultural hurdles to follow Christ. Yet their challenges still

continue, especially in growing in discipleship. They often fell lost in our

Western congregations, and equally lost trying to find a church body with whom

they can identify. some are even being lured into Christian cult groups.



Please join us in praying for:

- The church to reach out to the growing Muslim populations in Alberta.

- for Canadian churches to start contextualised discipleship ministries to

Muslim-background believers.

- for Muslm-background believers to be well grounded spiritually and socially

in their faith and the Church.

- and for Muslim-background believers to share their faith with their

not-yet-believing family and friendship networks.

- for Farsi and Arabic fellowships to grow in spiritual maturity and outreach.

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month

and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days

of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that

usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,

of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be

decorated and festivals will be held.



For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the

distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of

Islam.



You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",

which means Blessed Eid!"



Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you

know, and Muslims around the world:



- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions

in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about

unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such

movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three

decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim

relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.

Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,

"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;

your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.

18 Even on My menservants and maidservants

I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.

19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below:

blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,

and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes.

THE PRODIGAL, UNBELIEVING SPOUSE



Marriage can be a challenging journey, especially when your spouse has

wandered from God or has yet to believe. It’s painful to witness the one you

love being distant from the Lord, but take heart: God's love for them is even

greater than your own. In moments of frustration or discouragement,

remember that God is always at work, even when change seems absent. His

timing is perfect, and He desires to draw your spouse into a deeper

relationship with Him.

Wives and Husbands



1 (1Co 7:16; Col 3:18) Likewise you wives, be submissive to your own husbands,

so that if any do not obey the word, they may be won without a word by the

conduct of their wives,

1 Peter 3:1-2 encourages believing spouses to win over their partners "without

words" by their behaviour. This doesn't mean avoiding the truth, but rather

allowing your actions - through patience, love, and faithfulness - to speak

louder than words. Continue loving your spouse unconditionally, even in the

difficult moments. Trust that God is working through you, planting seeds of

faith in their heart.

Pray to the Lord and pray to seek His will in your work and His Glory in your

life.



Pray to the Lord: "Author of all that lives, thank You for inspiring

the Bible to be such a life-giving book. May I submit to You

as I read the Scriptures."

and that churches are growing despite persecution.

Soften their heart and open their eyes to Your love and truth. Help me trust
