The Potter and the Clay
1 The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying:
2 (Jer 19:1-2) "Arise and go down to the potter's house,
and there I will cause you to hear My words."
3 Then I went down to the potter's house, and there he was making
something on the wheel.
4 Yet the vessel that he made of clay was spoiled in the hand of the potter;
so he made it again into another vessel,
as seemed good to the potter to make it.
5 Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying:
6 (Isa 64:8; 45:9) O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter?
says the Lord. As the clay is in the potter's hand, so are you in My hand,
O house of Israel.
7 (Jer 1:10) At one moment I may speak concerning a nation
and concerning a kingdom to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it.
8 (Jer 26:13; Eze 18:21) If that nation against which I have spoken turns
from its evil, I will relent of the disaster that I thought to do to it.
9 (Jer 1:10; 31:28) Or at another moment I may speak concerning a nation
and concerning a kingdom to build and to plant it.
10 (1Sa 2:30; Eze 33:18) If it does evil in My sight by not obeying My voice,
then I will relent of the good with which I said I would bless it.
11 (2Ki 17:13; Isa 1:16-19) Now therefore speak to the men of Judah
and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying: Thus says the Lord:
Look, I am shaping disaster against you and devising a plan against you.
Repent now, everyone from his evil way, and make your ways
and your deeds good.
12 (Jer 2:25; Isa 57:10) But they say, "There is no hope! But we will walk
after our own devices, and each of us will do according
to the stubbornness of his evil heart."
13 (Jer 5:30; Isa 66:8) Therefore thus says the Lord:
Ask now among the nations,
who has heard such things?
The virgin of Israel
has done a very horrible thing.
14 Shall a man leave the snow of Lebanon,
which comes from the rock of the field?
Shall the cold flowing water that comes from another place
be forsaken?
15 (Isa 57:14; Jer 6:16) Because My people have forgotten Me,
they have burned incense to vain gods
and they have stumbled in their ways
from the ancient paths,
to walk in bypaths,
not on a highway,
16 (Ps 22:7; Jer 25:9 ) to make their land desolate,
and a perpetual hissing;
everyone who passes by shall be astonished
and shake his head.
17 (Jer 2:27; 13:24) I will scatter them before the enemy
as with an east wind;
I will show them the back and not the face
in the day of their calamity.
[1] The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,

potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to

[5] Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
[6] O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD.
Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O
house of Israel.
[7] At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a
kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it;
[8] If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I
will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.
[9] And at what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a
kingdom, to build and to plant it;
[10] If it do evil in my sight, that it obey not my voice, then I will
repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit them.
[11] Now therefore go to, speak to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants
of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I frame evil against you,
and devise a device against you: return ye now every one from his evil way,
and make your ways and your doings good.
[12] And they said, There is no hope: but we will walk after our own
devices, and we will every one do the imagination of his evil heart.
[13] Therefore thus saith the LORD; Ask ye now among the heathen, who hath
heard such things: the virgin of Israel hath done a very horrible thing.

Jeremiah Persecuted
18 (Jer 11:19; Ps 52:2) Then they said, "Come and let us devise plans
against Jeremiah. For the law will not be lost from the priest, nor counsel
from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come and let us strike him
with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words."
19 Give heed to me, O Lord,
and listen to the voice of those who contend with me.
20 (Ps 35:7; 57:6 ) Shall evil be recompensed for good?
For they have dug a pit for my soul.
Remember that I stood before You
to speak good for them,
and to turn away Your wrath from them.
21 (Ps 109:9-20; Jer 9:21) Therefore, deliver up their children
to the famine
and pour out their blood by the power of the sword;
and let their wives be bereaved of their children and become widows
and let their men be put to death;
let their young men be slain by the sword in battle.
22 (Ps 140:5; Jer 6:26) Let a cry be heard from their houses,
when You bring a troop suddenly upon them;
for they have dug a pit to take me
and hidden snares for my feet.
23 (Isa 2:9) Yet, Lord, You know
all their counsel against me to slay me.
Do not forgive their iniquity
nor blot out their sin from Your sight;
but let them be overthrown before You;
deal thus with them in the time of Your anger.
[18] Then said they, Come, and let us devise devices against Jeremiah; for
the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the
word from the prophet. Come, and let us smite him with the tongue, and let
us not give heed to any of his words.
[19] Give heed to me, O LORD, and hearken to the voice of them that contend
with me.

Jeremiah 19
The Broken Jar
1 (Nu 11:16) Thus says the Lord: Go and buy a potter's earthen bottle,
and take some of the elders of the people and some of the elders
of the priests.
2 (Jos 15:8; 2Ki 23:10) Then go out to the Valley of Ben Hinnom,
which is by the entry of the Potsherd Gate, and proclaim there the words
that I will tell you,
3 (1Sa 3:11; Jer 17:20) and say: Hear the word of the Lord, O kings of Judah
and inhabitants of Jerusalem. Thus says the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel:
I will bring such disaster upon this place, at which whoever hears of it,
his ears shall tingle.
4 (Jer 2:34; 2Ki 21:16; Dt 28:20) Because they have forsaken Me
and have profaned this place by making offerings in it to other gods
whom neither they, their fathers, nor the kings of Judah have known,
and have filled this place with the blood of the innocent,
5 (Jer 32:35; Lev 18:21; Ps 106:37-38) and have built the high places
of Baal to burn their sons with fire for burnt offerings to Baal,
which I did not command or decree, nor did it come into My mind-
6 (Jos 15:8; Isa 30:33) therefore, surely the days are coming,
says the Lord, when this place shall no more be called Topheth
or the Valley of Ben Hinnom, but the Valley of Slaughter.
7 (Lev 26:17; Jer 16:4) I will make void the counsel of Judah
and Jerusalem in this place, and I will cause them to fall by the sword
before their enemies, and by the hands of those who seek their lives.
And their corpses I will give to be food for the fowl of the heaven
and for the beasts of the earth.
8 (Jer 18:16; 1Ki 9:8) I will make this city desolate and a hissing.
Everyone who passes by will be astonished and hiss because
of all the wounds.
9 (Lev 26:29; Isa 9:20) I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons
and the flesh of their daughters, and everyone will eat the flesh
of his friend in the siege and distress, with which their enemies
and those who seek their lives will distress them.
10 (Jer 19:1; 51:63-64) Then you will break the bottle in the sight of the men
that go with you,
11 (Ps 2:9; Isa 30:14) and say to them: Thus says the Lord of Hosts:
Even so I will break this people and this city, as one breaks a potter's
vessel that cannot be made whole again; and they will bury them in Topheth
until there is no other place to bury.
12 Thus I will do to this place and to the inhabitants, says the Lord,
and even make this city as Topheth.
13 (2Ki 23:12; Jer 7:18) And the houses of Jerusalem and the houses
of the kings of Judah will be defiled as the place of Topheth,
because of all the houses upon whose roofs they have burned
incense to all the host of heaven and have poured out drink offerings
to other gods.
14 (2Ch 20:5; Jer 26:2) Then Jeremiah came from Topheth, where the Lord
had sent him to prophesy. And he stood in the court of the house of the Lord
and said to all the people:
15 (Jer 7:26; 17:23) Thus says the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel:
I am about to bring upon this city and upon all her towns all the disaster
that I have pronounced against it, because they have stiffened their necks
so that they might not heed My words.
Jeremiah 19
[1] Thus saith the LORD, Go and get a potter's earthen bottle, and take of
the ancients of the people, and of the ancients of the priests;
[2] And go forth unto the valley of the son of Hinnom, which is by the entry
of the east gate, and proclaim there the words that I shall tell thee,
[3] And say, Hear ye the word of the LORD, O kings of Judah, and inhabitants
of Jerusalem; Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I
will bring evil upon this place, the which whosoever heareth, his ears
shall tingle.
[4] Because they have forsaken me, and have estranged this place, and have
burned incense in it unto other gods, whom neither they nor their fathers
have known, nor the kings of Judah, and have filled this place with the
blood of innocents;
[5] They have built also the high places of Baal, to burn their sons with
fire for burnt offerings unto Baal, which I commanded not, nor spake it,
neither came it into my mind:
[6] Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that this place shall
no more be called Tophet, nor The valley of the son of Hinnom, but The
valley of slaughter.
[7] And I will make void the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem in this place;
and I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies, and by the
hands of them that seek their lives: and their carcases will I give to be
meat for the fowls of the heaven, and for the beasts of the earth.
[8] And I will make this city desolate, and an hissing; every one that
passeth thereby shall be astonished and hiss because of all the plagues
thereof.
[9] And I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of
their daughters, and they shall eat every one the flesh of his friend in the
siege and straitness, wherewith their enemies, and they that seek their
lives, shall straiten them.
[10] Then shalt thou break the bottle in the sight of the men that go with
thee,
[11] And shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Even so will I
break this people and this city, as one breaketh a potter's vessel, that
cannot be made whole again: and they shall bury them in Tophet, till there
be no place to bury.
[12] Thus will I do unto this place, saith the LORD, and to the inhabitants
thereof, and even make this city as Tophet:

upon this city and upon all her towns all the evil that I have pronounced
against it, because they have hardened their necks, that they might not
hear my words.
Jeremiah 20
Pashhur Strikes Jeremiah
1 (1Ch 24:14; 2Ki 25:18) Now Pashhur the son of Immer the priest,
who was also chief officer in the house of the Lord,
heard that Jeremiah prophesied these things.
2 (Jer 37:13; 1:19) Then Pashhur struck Jeremiah the prophet
and put him in the stocks that were in the upper Gate of Benjamin,
which was by the house of the Lord.
3 (Jer 20:10; Isa 8:3) On the next day Pashhur brought Jeremiah
out of the stocks. Then Jeremiah said to him, The Lord has not called
your name Pashhur, but "Magor-missabib."[Possibly Chief of Staff.[
4J (er 29:21; Job 18:11-21) For thus says the Lord: I will make you
a terror to yourself and to all your friends. And they will fall by the sword
of their enemies while your eyes will see it. Thus I will give all Judah
into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he will carry them captive
into Babylon and will slay them with the sword.
5 (2Ki 20:17-18; 24:12-16) Moreover I will deliver all the wealth
of this city, and all its produce, and all the precious things;
and all the treasures of the kings of Judah I will give into the hand
of their enemies who will destroy them, and take them,
and carry them to Babylon.
6 (Jer 14:14-15; La 2:14) You, Pashhur, and all who dwell in your house
will go into captivity; and you will come to Babylon,
and there you will die and will be buried there,
you and all your friends to whom you have prophesied lies.
[1] Now Pashur the son of Immer the priest, who was also chief governor in
the house of the LORD, heard that Jeremiah prophesied these things.
[2] Then Pashur smote Jeremiah the prophet, and put him in the stocks that
were in the high gate of Benjamin, which was by the house of the LORD.
[3] And it came to pass on the morrow, that Pashur brought forth Jeremiah
out of the stocks. Then said Jeremiah unto him, The LORD hath not called thy
name Pashur, but Magor-missabib.
[4] For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will make thee a terror to thyself,
and to all thy friends: and they shall fall by the sword of their enemies,
and thine eyes shall behold it: and I will give all Judah into the hand of
the king of Babylon, and he shall carry them captive into Babylon, and
shall slay them with the sword.
[5] Moreover I will deliver all the strength of this city, and all the
labours thereof, and all the precious things thereof, and all the treasures
of the kings of Judah will I give into the hand of their enemies, which
shall spoil them, and take them, and carry them to Babylon.
[6] And thou, Pashur, and all that dwell in thine house shall go into
captivity: and thou shalt come to Babylon, and there thou shalt die, and
shalt be buried there, thou, and all thy friends, to whom thou hast
prophesied lies.
Jeremiah Dejected
7 (La 3:14; Eze 3:14) O Lord, You have deceived me and I was deceived;
You are stronger than I and have prevailed.
I am held in derision daily;
everyone mocks me.
8 (Jer 6:10; 2Ch 36:16) For each time I speak, I cry out;
I cry out, "Violence and devastation,"
because to me the word of the Lord has resulted
in reproach and derision daily.
9 (Job 32:18-20; Ps 39:3) But if I say, "I will not make mention of Him
nor speak any more in His name,"
then His word was in my heart
as a burning fire shut up in my bones;
and I was weary of forbearing it,
and I could not endure it.
10 (Ps 31:13; 41:9) For I heard the defaming of many,
"Terror on every side!
Denounce him. Yes, denounce him!"
All my familiar friends
who watch for my fall, say,
"Perhaps he will be enticed
so that we can prevail against him,
and we will take our revenge on him."
11 (Jer 15:20; 23:40; 1:8) But the Lord is with me as a dread mighty One.
Therefore my persecutors will stumble, and will not prevail.
They will be greatly ashamed, for they will not prosper.
Their everlasting shame will never be forgotten.
12 (Jer 11:20; Ps 54:7; 59:10) But, O Lord of Hosts, who tests the righteous
and sees the mind and the heart,
let me see Your vengeance on them,
for to You I have presented my cause.
13 (Ps 34:6; 69:33) Sing to the Lord,
praise the Lord.
For He has delivered the soul of the poor
from the hand of evildoers.
14 (Jer 15:10) Cursed be the day in which I was born.
Let not the day be blessed in which my mother bore me.
15 Cursed be the man who brought tidings to my father,
saying, "A baby boy has been born to you!"
and made him very glad.
16 (Jer 18:22; 48:3-4) Let that man be as the cities
which the Lord overthrew and did not relent,
and let him hear the cry in the morning
and the shout of alarm at noon,
17 (Job 3:10-11; 10:18-19) because he did not kill me from the womb,
so that my mother might have been my grave,
and her womb be always pregnant.
18 (Job 3:20; La 3:1) Why did I come forth from the womb
to see trouble and sorrow,
so that my days are spent in shame?
[7] O LORD, thou hast deceived me, and I was deceived: thou art stronger
than I, and hast prevailed: I am in derision daily, every one mocketh me.
[8] For since I spake, I cried out, I cried violence and spoil; because the
word of the LORD was made a reproach unto me, and a derision, daily.
[9] Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his
name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones,
and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.
[10] For I heard the defaming of many, fear on every side. Report, say they,
and we will report it. All my familiars watched for my halting, saying,
Peradventure he will be enticed, and we shall prevail against him, and we
shall take our revenge on him.
[11] But the LORD is with me as a mighty terrible one: therefore my
persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail: they shall be
greatly ashamed; for they shall not prosper: their everlasting confusion shall
never be forgotten.
[12] But, O LORD of hosts, that triest the righteous, and seest the reins
and the heart, let me see thy vengeance on them: for unto thee have I opened
my cause.
[13] Sing unto the LORD, praise ye the LORD: for he hath delivered the soul
of the poor from the hand of evildoers.
[14] Cursed be the day wherein I was born: let not the day wherein my mother
bare me be blessed.
[15] Cursed be the man who brought tidings to my father, saying, A man child
is born unto thee; making him very glad.
[16] And let that man be as the cities which the LORD overthrew, and
repented not: and let him hear the cry in the morning, and the shouting at
noontide;
[17] Because he slew me not from the womb; or that my mother might have been
my grave, and her womb to be always great with me.
[18] Wherefore came I forth out of the womb to see labour and sorrow, that
my days should be consumed with shame?
Jeremiah 21
Zedekiah's Request Denied
1 (Jer 29:25; 37:3) The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord
when King Zedekiah sent to him Pashhur the son of Malkijah,
and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest, saying,
2 (Jer 37:3; 37:7) "Please inquire of the Lord for us.
For Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon is making war against us.
Perhaps the Lord will deal with us according to all His wondrous works,
so that the enemy withdraws from us."
3 Then Jeremiah said to them: Thus you shall say to Zedekiah:
4 (Jer 32:5; Isa 13:4) Thus says the Lord God of Israel: Behold, I will turn
back the weapons of war that are in your hands with which you fight
against the king of Babylon and against the Chaldeans who besiege
you outside the walls; and I will assemble them into the midst of this city.
5 (Ex 6:6; Isa 5:25) I Myself will fight against you with an outstretched
hand and with a strong arm, even in anger, and in fury, and in great wrath.
6 (Jer 32:24) I will strike the inhabitants of this city, both man and beast;
they will die of a great pestilence.
7 (Jer 37:17; Eze 7:9) Afterwards, says the Lord, I will deliver Zedekiah
king of Judah and his servants and the people and such as are left
in this city from the pestilence, from the sword, and from the famine
into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and
into the hand of their enemies and into the hand of those
who seek their life. And he will strike them with the edge of the sword.
He will not spare them or have pity or mercy.
8 (Dt 30:15; 30:19) To this people you shall say: Thus says the Lord:
See, I set before you the way of life, and the way of death.
9 (Jer 38:2; 39:18; 45:5) He who abides in this city will die by the sword
and by the famine and by the pestilence. But he who goes out and falls
away to the Chaldeans who besiege you, he will live, and he will have
his own life as booty.
10 (Jer 44:11; 52:13) For I have set My face against this city for disaster
and not for good, says the Lord. It will be given into the hand of
the king of Babylon, and he will burn it with fire.
Jeremiah 21
[1] The word which came unto Jeremiah from the LORD, when king Zedekiah sent
unto him Pashur the son of Melchiah, and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the
priest, saying,
[2] Inquire, I pray thee, of the LORD for us; for Nebuchadrezzar king of
Babylon maketh war against us; if so be that the LORD will deal with us
according to all his wondrous works, that he may go up from us.
[3] Then said Jeremiah unto them, Thus shall ye say to Zedekiah:
[4] Thus saith the LORD God of Israel; Behold, I will turn back the weapons
of war that are in your hands, wherewith ye fight against the king of

and deliver him that is spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor, lest my
fury go out like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil
of your doings.
[13] Behold, I am against thee, O inhabitant of the valley, and rock of the
plain, saith the LORD; which say, Who shall come down against us? or who
shall enter into our habitations?
[14] But I will punish you according to the fruit of your doings, saith the
LORD: and I will kindle a fire in the forest thereof, and it shall devour
all things round about it.

Jehoahaz, King of Judah
2Ki 23:31-34
1 (Jer 22:11) Then the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah
and made him king in the place of his father in Jerusalem.
2 And Jehoahaz was 23 years old when he began to reign,
and he reigned three months in Jerusalem.
3 Then the king of Egypt deposed him in Jerusalem and imposed on the land
a tribute of a hundred talents [About 33/4 tons, or 3.4 metric tons.]
of silver and a talent [About 75 pounds, or 34 kilograms.] of gold.
4 (Jer 22:10-12) The king of Egypt made his brother Eliakim king over Judah
and Jerusalem, and changed his name to Jehoiakim. But Necho took his brother
Jehoahaz and carried him to Egypt.
[1] Then the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and made
him king in his father's stead in Jerusalem.
[2] Jehoahaz was twenty and three years old when he began to reign, and he
reigned three months in Jerusalem.
[3] And the king of Egypt put him down at Jerusalem, and condemned the land
in an hundred talents of silver and a talent of gold.
[4] And the king of Egypt made Eliakim his brother king over Judah and
Jerusalem, and turned his name to Jehoiakim. And Necho took Jehoahaz his
brother, and carried him to Egypt.

Jehoahaz, King of Judah
2Ch 36:2-4
31 (2Ki 24:18; 1Ch 3:15) Jehoahaz was 23 years old when he became king,
and he reigned three months in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Hamutal
daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.
32 (2Ki 21:2-7) He did evil in the sight of the Lord,
according to all that his fathers had done.

James 5:13-16

for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him,
anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.
15 (Isa 33:24; Jas 1:6) And the prayer of faith will save the sick,
and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed any sins,
he will be forgiven.
16 (Ge 20:17; 18:23-32) Confess your faults to one another
and pray for one another, that you may be healed.
The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man accomplishes much.
[13] Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing
psalms.
[14] Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and
let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
[15] And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise

may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth
much.
There's a man people hire as they’re dying, paying him to show up at their
funerals and reveal secrets they never shared while they were alive. The man
has interrupted eulogies. He's asked stunned officiants to sit down when they
started to object. He once stood to explain how the man in the casket had won
the lotto but never told a soul and for decades pretended to be a successful
businessman. Multiple times the hired man has confessed infidelity to a
widowed spouse. One might question whether these actions were exploitative or
enacted in good faith, but what's obvious is people's hunger to be absolved
of past sins.
Having someone else confess for us (especially after we're dead) is a futile
and risky way to deal with secrets. These stories, however, reveal a deep
truth: we have a need to confess, to unburden ourselves. Confession cleanses
us of those things that we've hidden and allowed to fester.
"Confess your sins to each other," James says, "and pray for each other so
that you may be healed" (5:16). Confession releases us from burdens that bind
us, freeing us to commune with God-praying with a heart open to Him and
to our faith community. Confession enacts healing.
James invites us to live an open life, confessing to God and those closest
to us the pains and failings we're tempted to bury. We don't have to carry
these burdens alone. Confession is a gift to us. God uses it to cleanse our
heart and set us free.

also make a way to escape, that you may be able to bear it.

tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation
also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
Becky had experienced some hard knocks in the past few weeks; the stress
was beginning to show, and she wasn't sure she should handle anything else.
"Why me?" Becky wept, covering her face. "I just can't stand it any more!
I can't pay my bills; I just lost my job, and now my car broke down
on the highway. How much more of this can I take?"
Some people seem to have more than their share of trouble and temptation.
Within six months, one family faced financial trouble, cancer, quadruple
bypass surgery, and leukemia; their trials brought them face to face with
anger, bitterness, and despair as well. Other people seem to go through
life with relatively minor stresses and few real temptations to sin.
But whether our problems are great or small, they are part of the common
thread that ties humanity together. All of us face temptation; it is ,
Paul says, "Common to man." But Paul assures us that
"God ... will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear."
Often what we can bear is more that what we think we can bear. God will use
the troubled times in our lives for our maturity in him, but he promises
as well that he will not let temptation break us. He will provide "a way out,"
"a way of escape".
Sometimes the "way out" is true escape, being removed from what caused the
trouble. At other times, rather than being removed from it, we must
withstand the stress, face the temptation, enure the pain. Whether we escape
or endure, God is faithful to provide what we need; we can trust him
not to give us more than we can bear.
Application

b) Under what circumstances has God provided an "escape" for me?
When have I had to walk "through" my difficulties?

population in New Brunswick, In 2007, the building that was formerly a Baptist
church was converted into Moncton's 1st mosque. The University of Moncton
also has a Muslim student association hosting prayer services, fellowship
getherings, and outreaches on campus.
Fredericton also has one mosque and a Muslim student association serving the
campuses of the University of New Brunswick and St. Thomas University.
Fredericton's Muslim population consists in 2014 of about 50 families,
and between 300 to 400 university students.
Saint John is home to the 1st Muslim Association for the province,
which also helped foster the Islamic associations of Fredericton and Moncton.
a 'musalla', or prayer location that is not officially structured as a mosque,
has been established in the Uptown area with the intention of seeing it grow
into a 2nd official place of Muslim worship. Demand for this new location has
been primarily for university students moving into the area.
Pray for Muslims and New Brunswick
- that the eyes of pastors, believers and entire congregations will be opened
to see this growing body of Muslims, and their hearts will be opened
to sharing God's love in Jesus Christ with them
- that intentional ministries to Muslims will grow and flourish in these
areas of concentration
- that cooperative CNNMM Networks will form to really, encourage,
and equip believers to lovingly reach Muslims in this province.

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.
For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.
You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"
Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you
know, and Muslims around the world:
- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.
Acts 2:12-17 : 17 12 They were all amazed and perplexed, saying to each other,
"What does this mean?"

"My name is Kam. I'm 29 years of age, and I grew up Sikh. As a teenager,
I struggled with depression, brokenness, and addiction to
cannabis. I didn't know how to stop or how to get help.
Then a friend invited me to church. As I spent time with Christians
and heard the message of the Gospel, I experienced the
love of Jesus Christ, and it was like nothing I'd known before.
One night I had a dream where I saw Him - a figure surrounded by
light who I knew was Jesus, the light of the world.
As I began to understand the gospel message, I encountered a reassuring and

discipleship movements among Muslim people.
