Here’s a review of *Doctor Who: The Runaway Bride*, keeping to 59 characters per line and between 900-1000 words:

---

The Runaway Bride is an energetic and humorous Christmas special that introduces Donna Noble (Catherine Tate) as a strong, comedic companion to the Tenth Doctor (David Tennant). It provides a light-hearted and entertaining follow-up to the emotional ending of *Doomsday*, balancing humor, action, and some deeper themes of loss and moving on.

The episode opens with the immediate aftermath of *Doomsday*, with the Doctor reeling from his separation from Rose. In a bizarre twist, Donna appears in the TARDIS in full bridal attire, much to the Doctor's shock and confusion. This unexpected moment immediately sets the tone for the episode: fun, fast-paced, and filled with witty banter. Donna's strong-willed, no-nonsense personality is established right away as she yells at the Doctor, demanding an explanation for her sudden appearance.

The chemistry between Tennant and Tate is evident from the start. Donna’s fiery, outspoken nature contrasts sharply with the Doctor’s more contemplative and sorrowful demeanor in the wake of losing Rose. Their dynamic brings a fresh energy to the episode, and Donna’s refusal to be swept away by the Doctor’s usual charm makes for some great comedic moments. Catherine Tate’s performance adds a new flavor to the companion role, standing out with her refusal to fall into the mold of past companions who were often in awe of the Doctor. Donna challenges the Doctor, and their banter is one of the highlights of the episode.

The plot quickly unfolds as the Doctor tries to return Donna to her wedding, but soon discovers a sinister alien plot involving the Empress of the Racnoss, a spider-like creature that has been manipulating events behind the scenes. The Racnoss, while visually striking, is more of a traditional villain, lacking depth but providing a suitably threatening presence for the Doctor to face. The real focus of the episode, however, remains on Donna and her interactions with the Doctor.

Donna’s character arc in this episode revolves around her realization that she has been manipulated and her world turned upside down by forces beyond her control. Her wedding day, which she had been looking forward to, turns into a nightmare as she learns that her fiancé, Lance, has been working with the Racnoss all along. The betrayal is a pivotal moment for Donna, and it adds a layer of emotional complexity to what is otherwise a mostly comedic and action-driven episode. Her heartbreak is palpable, and it humanizes her character beyond the initial loud, comedic persona.

The Doctor’s emotional state is also explored in subtle ways throughout the episode. Still grieving the loss of Rose, the Doctor is reluctant to fully engage with Donna on an emotional level. There are moments where his sadness seeps through, especially in quieter scenes. The contrast between his darker mood and Donna’s exuberant personality creates an interesting dynamic, as she unknowingly helps him begin to move on from his loss.

The action sequences in The Runaway Bride are fast-paced and enjoyable, with standout moments including a thrilling car chase down the motorway involving the TARDIS and the Doctor's heroic descent into the Racnoss pit. The mix of practical and CGI effects works well to create a visually engaging spectacle, especially during the climactic battle with the Racnoss. The special effects are impressive for a Christmas special, with the Racnoss design being both menacing and memorable.

Despite its light-hearted tone, The Runaway Bride touches on deeper themes of loss, betrayal, and recovery. Donna’s journey from a bride excited for her wedding day to someone who is forced to confront the harsh reality of her fiancé’s betrayal mirrors, in some ways, the Doctor’s own experience of losing Rose. Both characters are dealing with emotional fallout, but they do so in very different ways. The Doctor channels his grief into saving the world, while Donna lashes out, confused and heartbroken. By the end of the episode, both characters are changed, and there’s a sense of mutual understanding between them.

One of the most significant moments of the episode comes at the end, when the Doctor offers Donna the chance to travel with him in the TARDIS. Donna’s refusal is unexpected, but it makes sense given her character arc. Unlike many of the Doctor’s past companions, she’s not ready to leave her life behind and dive into the unknown. Instead, she needs time to process everything that has happened to her. This decision adds a layer of realism to her character, and it also leaves the door open for her return later in the series.

The episode ends on a bittersweet note, with the Doctor alone once again, but with a sense of hope as he looks towards the future. Donna’s parting words to the Doctor, urging him to find someone to travel with, resonate deeply. It’s a moment that highlights the importance of companionship for the Doctor and sets the stage for future adventures.

In conclusion, The Runaway Bride is a fun, action-packed, and emotionally resonant Christmas special. It successfully balances the humor and excitement of a holiday episode with deeper themes of loss and recovery. Catherine Tate shines as Donna Noble, bringing a new dynamic to the companion role, and her chemistry with David Tennant elevates the episode. While the Racnoss may not be the most memorable villain, the focus remains on the Doctor and Donna’s evolving relationship, making this a highly enjoyable and heartfelt entry in the Doctor Who canon.

Rating: 8.5/10

The Runaway Bride delivers a satisfying mix of humor, action, and emotion. Catherine Tate’s Donna Noble is a standout, and the episode serves as both a fun holiday special and an important step in the Doctor’s emotional journey post-Rose.

Zechariah 1

1 (Ne 12:4; Mt 23:3) 5In the eighth month,

during the second year of King Darius,

the word of the Lord came to the prophet Zechariah,

son of Berekiah, son of Iddo, saying:

[1] In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, came the word of

the LORD unto Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the

prophet, saying,

A Call to Repentance

2 (Jer 44:6) The Lord was very angry with your fathers,

3 (Mal 3:7; Isa 31:6) so you will say to them, Thus says the Lord of Hosts:

Return to Me, and I will return to you, says the Lord of Hosts.

4 (Ps 78:8; 2Ch 36:15-16) Do not be like your fathers to whom the former

prophets cried, "Thus says the Lord of Hosts: Turn away from your evil ways

and deeds!" But they did not listen or pay attention to Me, says the Lord.

5 So where are your fathers, and do the prophets live forever?

6 (La 2:17; Dt 28:15 )Surely My words and statutes that I commanded

to My servants, the prophets, did they not persuade your fathers?

They turned back and said, "Whatever the Lord of Hosts planned to do

to us according to our ways and deeds, so He has done to us."

[2] The LORD hath been sore displeased with your fathers.

[3] Therefore say thou unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Turn ye

unto me, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will turn unto you, saith the

LORD of hosts.

[4] Be ye not as your fathers, unto whom the former prophets have cried,

saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Turn ye now from your evil ways,

and from your evil doings: but they did not hear, nor hearken unto me,

saith the LORD.

[5] Your fathers, where are they? and the prophets, do they live for ever?

[6] But my words and my statutes, which I commanded my servants the

prophets, did they not take hold of your fathers? and they returned and

said, Like as the LORD of hosts thought to do unto us, according to our

ways, and according to our doings, so hath he dealt with us.

Vision of the Horsemen

7 (Zec 1:1) On the 24th day, in the eleventh month, which is the month Shebat,

during the second year of Darius, the word of the Lord came to the prophet

Zechariah, son of Berekiah, son of Iddo:

8 (Rev 6:4; Zec 6:2-7; Isa 41:19) I saw during the night a man riding on

a red horse. But he was standing among the myrtle trees that were

in the ravine, and behind him were red, sorrel, and white horses.

9 (Zec 4:4-5; 1:19) And I said, "What are these, my lord?"

Then the angel who was speaking with me said,

"I will show you what these are."

10 (Zec 1:11; 6:5-8) Then the man who was standing among the myrtle trees

responded and said, "These are the ones whom the Lord has sent out to walk to

and fro on the earth."

11 (Zec 1:10; 1:8) They answered and said to the angel of the Lord

who was standing among the myrtle trees,

"We have gone to and fro on the earth,

and all the earth is resting and peaceful."

12 (Ps 102:13; Jer 29:10) Then the angel of the Lord said,

"How much longer, O Lord of Hosts, will You withhold mercy

from Jerusalem and the cities of Judah with which

You have been angry these seventy years?"

13 (Isa 40:1-2; Jer 29:10) And the Lord answered the angel speaking

to me with good and comforting words.

14 (Joel 2:18; Isa 40:6) So the angel who spoke with me said, Cry out,

saying: Thus says the Lord of Hosts: I have a great jealousy

for Jerusalem and Zion.

15 (Isa 54:8; Zec 1:2) And I have a great anger for those nations

who are at ease, for while I was angry but a little,

they helped to increase evil.

16 (Zec 4:9; 8:3) Therefore thus says the Lord: I have returned to Jerusalem

with mercy, and My house will be built in it, says the Lord of Hosts,

and a measuring line will be stretched over Jerusalem.

17 (Isa 51:3; Zec 2:12) Cry out again, saying, Thus says the Lord of Hosts:

Yet again My cities will overflow with goodness,

and again the Lord will comfort Zion and choose Jerusalem.

[7] Upon the four and twentieth day of the eleventh month, which is the

month Sebat, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the LORD

unto Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet, saying,

[8] I saw by night, and behold a man riding upon a red horse, and he

stood among the myrtle trees that were in the bottom; and behind him

were there red horses, speckled, and white.

[9] Then said I, O my lord, what are these? And the angel that talked with

me said unto me, I will shew thee what these be.

[10] And the man that stood among the myrtle trees answered and said, These

are they whom the LORD hath sent to walk to and fro through the earth.

[11] And they answered the angel of the LORD that stood among the myrtle

trees, and said, We have walked to and fro through the earth, and, behold,

all the earth sitteth still, and is at rest.

[12] Then the angel of the LORD answered and said, O LORD of hosts, how long

wilt thou not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against

which thou hast had indignation these threescore and ten years?

[13] And the LORD answered the angel that talked with me with good words

and comfortable words.

[14] So the angel that communed with me said unto me, Cry thou, saying, Thus

saith the LORD of hosts; I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a

great jealousy.

[15] And I am very sore displeased with the heathen that are at ease: for I

was but a little displeased, and they helped forward the affliction.

[16] Therefore thus saith the LORD; I am returned to Jerusalem with mercies:

my house shall be built in it, saith the LORD of hosts, and a line shall be

stretched forth upon Jerusalem.

[17] Cry yet, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; My cities through

prosperity shall yet be spread abroad; and the LORD shall yet comfort Zion,

and shall yet choose Jerusalem.

The Vision of the Horns and Craftsmen

18 And I then lifted up my eyes, and I saw four horns.

19 (Zec 1:21; 1:9) And I said to the angel speaking to me, "What are these?"

And he answered, "These are the horns that have scattered Judah, Israel,

and Jerusalem."

20 Then the Lord showed me four craftsmen.

21 (Ps 75:4-5; Zec 1:19) And I said, "What are these coming to do?"

And he said, "These are the horns that scattered Judah

after which no one could raise his head; and these four craftsmen

have come to terrify and throw down the horns of the nations

who lifted up their horn against the land of Judah to scatter it."

[18] Then lifted I up mine eyes, and saw, and behold four horns.

[19] And I said unto the angel that talked with me, What be these? And he

answered me, These are the horns which have scattered Judah, Israel, and

Jerusalem.

[20] And the LORD shewed me four carpenters.

[21] Then said I, What come these to do? And he spake, saying, These are the

horns which have scattered Judah, so that no man did lift up his head: but

these are come to fray them, to cast out the horns of the Gentiles, which

lifted up their horn over the land of Judah to scatter it.

Zechariah 2

The Vision of the Man With the Measuring Line

1 (Eze 40:3; Zec 1:16) And I lifted up my eyes, and I saw a man with

a measuring cord in his hand.

2 (Jer 31:39; Rev 21:15-17) And I said, "Where are you going?"

And he responded, "To measure Jerusalem

and to note what is its width and length."

3 (Zec 1:19) Then the angel who was speaking with me went out,

and then another angel came out to meet him,

4 (Jer 1:6; 31:27) and said to him, "Run, say to this young man:

Jerusalem will be inhabited as villages without walls,

because of the multitude of men and animals in her.

5 (Isa 4:5; 60:18-19)And I will be like a wall of fire all around her,

says the Lord, and I will be as glory in her midst."

[1] I lifted up mine eyes again, and looked, and behold a man with a

measuring line in his hand.

[2] Then said I, Whither goest thou? And he said unto me, To measure

Jerusalem, to see what is the breadth thereof, and what is the length

thereof.

[3] And, behold, the angel that talked with me went forth, and another angel

went out to meet him,

[4] And said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Jerusalem shall

be inhabited as towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle

therein:

[5] For I, saith the LORD, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and

will be the glory in the midst of her.

Interlude: An Appeal to the Exiles

6 (Eze 17:21; Isa 48:20) Up, up, flee from the northern land,

says the Lord, for I have spread you abroad like the four winds of heaven,

says the Lord.

7 (Isa 48:20; 52:11) Deliver yourself, O Zion,

you who live with the daughter of Babylon.

8 (Dt 32:10; Ps 17:8) For thus says the Lord of Hosts: He has sent Me

after glory to the nations which plunder you, for he who touches

you touches the apple of His eye.

9 (Isa 14:2; 19:16) For I will swing My hand against them,

and they will become plunder for their servants.

Then you will know well that the Lord of Hosts has sent Me.

10 (Zec 8:3; Lev 26:12) Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion,

for I am coming and will dwell in your midst, says the Lord.

11 And many nations will join themselves with the Lord in that day,

and they will be My people. And I will reside in your midst,

and you will know that the Lord of Hosts has sent Me to you.

12 (Dt 32:9; Zec 1:17) And the Lord will possess Judah as His portion

in the holy land, and He will again choose Jerusalem.

13 (Ps 68:5; Hab 2:20) Be still, all flesh before the Lord, for He is

stirred from His holy habitation.

[6] Ho, ho, come forth, and flee from the land of the north, saith the LORD:

for I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heaven, saith the

LORD.

[7] Deliver thyself, O Zion, that dwellest with the daughter of Babylon.

[8] For thus saith the LORD of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto

the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple

of his eye.

[9] For, behold, I will shake mine hand upon them, and they shall be a spoil

to their servants: and ye shall know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me.

[10] Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell

in the midst of thee, saith the LORD.

[11] And many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day, and shall be

my people: and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that

the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto thee.

[12] And the LORD shall inherit Judah his portion in the holy land, and

shall choose Jerusalem again.

[13] Be silent, O all flesh, before the LORD: for he is raised up out of his

holy habitation.

Zechariah 3

The Vision of Joshua the High Priest

1 (Ps 109:6; Zec 6:11) Then he showed me Joshua, the high priest,

standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing

at his right hand to accuse him.

2 (Am 4:11; Jude 1:9) And the Lord said to Satan, "The Lord rebuke you, Satan!

The Lord who has chosen Jerusalem rebukes you! Is this not a burning brand

taken out of the fire?"

3 (Isa 64:6; Ezr 9:15) Now Joshua had on filthy garments and was standing

before the angel.

4 (Isa 61:10; Eze 36:25) And he said to those standing before him,

"Take off his filthy garments."

Then he said, "See that I have removed from you your iniquity,

and I will clothe you with rich robes."

5 (Ex 29:6; Zec 6:11) And I said, "Let them place a pure turban on his head."

So they put a pure turban on his head and garments on him.

And the angel of the Lord was standing by.

6 (Zec 3:1) And the angel of the Lord admonished Joshua, saying,

7 (Ge 26:5; Lev 8:35) "Thus says the Lord of Hosts: If you walk in My ways

and keep My charge, then you will judge My house and guard My courts,

and I will give to you access to these who are standing here.

8 (Isa 11:1; Jer 23:5) "Hear this, O Joshua the high priest,

you and your friends sitting before you, for these men are a sign.

I am bringing My servant, the Branch.

9 (Isa 28:16; Jer 50:20) The stone that I have set before Joshua,

on that single stone is seven eyes. And I will engrave an inscription,

says the Lord of Hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of this land

in one day.

10 (1Ki 4:25; Mic 4:4) "On that day, says the Lord of Hosts, each of you will

invite your companion to come and sit under the vine and under the fig tree."

[1] And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the

LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him.

[2] And the LORD said unto Satan, The LORD rebuke thee, O Satan; even the

LORD that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out

of the fire?

[3] Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel.

[4] And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take

away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have

caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change

of raiment.

[5] And I said, Let them set a fair mitre upon his head. So they set a fair

mitre upon his head, and clothed him with garments. And the angel of the

LORD stood by.

[6] And the angel of the LORD protested unto Joshua, saying,

[7] Thus saith the LORD of hosts; If thou wilt walk in my ways, and if thou

wilt keep my charge, then thou shalt also judge my house, and shalt also

keep my courts, and I will give thee places to walk among these that stand by.

[8] Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou, and thy fellows that sit

before thee: for they are men wondered at: for, behold, I will bring forth

my servant the BRANCH.

[9] For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua; upon one stone

shall be seven eyes: behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith the

LORD of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.

[10] In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, shall ye call every man his

neighbour under the vine and under the fig tree.

Zechariah 4

The Vision of the Gold Lampstand

1 (Jer 31:26; Da 8:18) And the angel who was speaking with me returned

and woke me up like a man who is roused from his sleep.

2 Rev 4:5; 1:12And he said to me, "What do you see?"

And I responded, "I see a completely gold lampstand and a bowl at its top,

with seven lights on it, and seven pipes on it for each lamp in order

to light them.

3 (Rev 11:4) And there are two olive trees next to it, one on the right

of the bowl and one on the left."

4 (Zec 1:9; 6:4) So I answered and I asked the angel speaking with me,

"What are these, my lord?"

5 (Zec 4:13) Then the angel speaking with me responded,

"Do you really not know what these are?"

And I said, "No, my lord."

6 (Hos 1:7; Isa 11:2-4) And he said to me: "This is the word of the Lord

to Zerubbabel, saying: Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,

says the Lord of Hosts.

7 (Jer 51:25; Ps 114:4) "Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel

you will be made level ground, and he will bring out the top stone amidst

shouting of 'Grace! Grace to the stone!' "

8Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying:

9 (Ezr 5:16; 6:14-15) "The hands of Zerubbabel have established

the foundation of this house, and they will even complete it.

Then you will know that the Lord of Hosts has sent Me to all of you.

10 (Hag 2:3; Zec 3:9) "For who has despised the day of small things?

These seven will rejoice and see the plumb line in the hand

of Zerubbabel. These are the eyes of the Lord, which survey to

and fro throughout the earth."

11 (Zec 4:3; Rev 11:4) Then I answered and I asked,

"What are these two olives trees on the right and left of the lampstand?"

12 And I asked a second time, "What are these two branches of the olive trees

that are next to the two golden pipes from which they pour out the gold oil?"

13 (Zec 4:5) And he asked me, "Do you not know what these are?"

I responded, "No, my lord."

14 (Ex 29:7; 40:15) He answered, "These are the two anointed ones

who stand by the Lord of all the earth."

[1] And the angel that talked with me came again, and waked me, as a man

that is wakened out of his sleep,

[2] And said unto me, What seest thou? And I said, I have looked, and behold

a candlestick all of gold, with a bowl upon the top of it, and his seven

lamps thereon, and seven pipes to the seven lamps, which are upon the top

thereof:

[3] And two olive trees by it, one upon the right side of the bowl, and the

other upon the left side thereof.

[4] So I answered and spake to the angel that talked with me, saying, What

are these, my lord?

[5] Then the angel that talked with me answered and said unto me, Knowest

thou not what these be? And I said, No, my lord.

[6] Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD

unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith

the LORD of hosts.

[7] Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a

plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings,

crying, Grace, grace unto it.

[8] Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

[9] The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his

hands shall also finish it; and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath

sent me unto you.

[10] For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice,

and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; they

are the eyes of the LORD, which run to and fro through the whole earth.

[11] Then answered I, and said unto him, What are these two olive trees upon

the right side of the candlestick and upon the left side thereof?

[12] And I answered again, and said unto him, What be these two olive

branches which through the two golden pipes empty the golden oil out of

themselves?

[13] And he answered me and said, Knowest thou not what these be? And I

said, No, my lord.

[14] Then said he, These are the two anointed ones, that stand by the LORD

of the whole earth.

Zechariah 5

The Vision of the Flying Scroll

1 Then I turned and lifted up my eyes and saw a flying scroll.

2 (Zec 4:2) He asked me, "What do you see?"

And I responded, "I see a flying scroll with its length as twenty cubits

and its width as ten cubits."

[About 30 feet long and 15 feet wide, or 9 meters long and 4.5 meters wide.]

3 (Ex 20:15; Isa 24:6) He said to me, "This is the curse going out

over the surface of all the land. Everyone who steals will be purged

according to the writing on one side, and everyone who swears falsely

will be purged according to the writing on the other side.

4 (Lev 14:34-45; Job 18:15) I will send it out, says the Lord of Hosts,

and it will enter the house of the thief, and the house of him who swears

falsely by My name. It will remain in his house and consume it,

with its timber and stones."

[1] Then I turned, and lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a flying

roll.

[2] And he said unto me, What seest thou? And I answered, I see a flying

roll; the length thereof is twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof ten cubits.

[3] Then said he unto me, This is the curse that goeth forth over the face

of the whole earth: for every one that stealeth shall be cut off as on this

side according to it; and every one that sweareth shall be cut off as on

that side according to it.

[4] I will bring it forth, saith the LORD of hosts, and it shall enter into

the house of the thief, and into the house of him that sweareth falsely by

my name: and it shall remain in the midst of his house, and shall consume it

with the timber thereof and the stones thereof.

The Vision of the Woman in the Basket

5 (Zec 1:9) Then the angel who was speaking with me came out, saying,

"Now lift up your eyes and see what this is that is going forth."

6 (Am 8:5) And I asked, "What is it?"

He said, "This is the ephah basket going forth.

This represents their iniquity throughout all the land."

7 The lead cover was lifted,

and there was a woman sitting in the ephah basket.

8 And he said, "This is wickedness." And he threw her back into the basket

and then thrust back the lead stone over its opening.

9 Then I lifted my eyes and saw coming forward two women. There was wind

in their wings, and the wings were like those of a stork,

and they lifted up and carried the ephah basket between heaven and earth.

10 Then I said to the angel who was speaking with me,

"Where are they carrying the basket?"

11 (Ge 10:10; 11:2) He responded, "To build a house for it in the land

of Shinar. And when the house is established, the basket will be set

there on a pedestal."

[5] Then the angel that talked with me went forth, and said unto me, Lift up

now thine eyes, and see what is this that goeth forth.

[6] And I said, What is it? And he said, This is an ephah that goeth forth.

He said moreover, This is their resemblance through all the earth.

[7] And, behold, there was lifted up a talent of lead: and this is a woman

that sitteth in the midst of the ephah.

[8] And he said, This is wickedness. And he cast it into the midst of the

ephah; and he cast the weight of lead upon the mouth thereof.

[9] Then lifted I up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came out two

women, and the wind was in their wings; for they had wings like the wings of

a stork: and they lifted up the ephah between the earth and the heaven.

[10] Then said I to the angel that talked with me, Whither do these bear the

ephah?

[11] And he said unto me, To build it an house in the land of Shinar: and it

shall be established, and set there upon her own base.

The Vision of the Four Chariots

1 (Da 8:22) And I turned around and lifted my eyes, and I saw four chariots

coming out from between two mountains, which were bronze mountains.

2 (Zec 1:8) The first chariot had red horses, the second black horses,

3 (Rev 6:2; Zec 1:8) the third white horses, and the fourth chariot

dappled horses-all of them strong.

4 (Zec 1:9) Then I answered the angel speaking with me,

"What are these, my lord?"

5 (Da 7:2; Zec 4:14) The angel responded, "These are the four winds

of heaven going out after standing before the Lord of all the earth.

6 (Jer 1:14-15; 4:6) The one with the black horses is going toward

the north country, the white ones are going after them,

while the dappled ones are going toward the south country."

7 (Zec 1:10) When the strong horses went out, they were seeking to go to

and fro throughout the earth. And he said, "Go out to and fro throughout

the earth." And they went out to walk to and fro throughout the earth.

8 (Eze 5:13; Zec 1:15) Then he cried out to me, "Look, the ones going out

to the northern land have given rest to my Spirit in the north."

[1] And I turned, and lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, there

came four chariots out from between two mountains; and the mountains were

mountains of brass.

[2] In the first chariot were red horses; and in the second chariot black

horses;

[3] And in the third chariot white horses; and in the fourth chariot grisled

and bay horses.

[4] Then I answered and said unto the angel that talked with me, What are

these, my lord?

[5] And the angel answered and said unto me, These are the four spirits of

the heavens, which go forth from standing before the Lord of all the earth.

[6] The black horses which are therein go forth into the north country; and

the white go forth after them; and the grisled go forth toward the south

country.

[7] And the bay went forth, and sought to go that they might walk to and fro

through the earth: and he said, Get you hence, walk to and fro through the

earth. So they walked to and fro through the earth.

[8] Then cried he upon me, and spake unto me, saying, Behold, these that go

toward the north country have quieted my spirit in the north country.

The Coronation of Joshua

9 (Zec 1:1; 7:1) Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying:

10 (Ezr 7:14-16; 8:26-30) Take from the exiles Heldai, Tobijah, and Jedaiah

who have come from Babylon, and go on that day to the house of Josiah,

the son of Zephaniah.

11 (Zec 3:1; Ps 21:3) Take the silver and gold and make a crown,

and set it on the head of Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest.

12 (Zec 3:8; Isa 4:2) And say to him: Thus says the Lord of Hosts:

Here is a man whose name is Branch; for he shall branch out from his place,

and he shall build the temple of the Lord.

13 (Ps 110:4; 21:5) It is he who shall build the temple of the Lord;

he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule on his throne.

He shall be a priest on his throne, and the counsel of peace shall

be between them both.

14 (Ex 12:14; Mt 26:13) And the crown shall be for a memorial to Helem,

Tobijah, Jedaiah, and Hen the son of Zephaniah, in the temple of the Lord.

15 (Isa 60:10; Zec 3:7) And those who are far off shall come and help

to build the temple of the Lord; and you all shall know that the Lord

of Hosts has sent me to you. This shall happen if you diligently obey

the voice of the Lord your God.

[9] And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

[10] Take of them of the captivity, even of Heldai, of Tobijah, and of

Jedaiah, which are come from Babylon, and come thou the same day, and go

into the house of Josiah the son of Zephaniah;

[11] Then take silver and gold, and make crowns, and set them upon the head

of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest;

[12] And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying,

Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his

place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD:

[13] Even he shall build the temple of the LORD; and he shall bear the

glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon

his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.

[14] And the crowns shall be to Helem, and to Tobijah, and to Jedaiah, and

to Hen the son of Zephaniah, for a memorial in the temple of the LORD.

[15] And they that are far off shall come and build in the temple of the

LORD, and ye shall know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto you. And

this shall come to pass, if ye will diligently obey the voice of the LORD

your God.

Zechariah 7

A Call for Justice and Mercy

1 (Ne 1:1; Zec 1:1) And in the fourth year of King Darius, on the fourth day

of the ninth month, Kislev, the word of the Lord came to Zechariah.

2 (Zec 8:21; Jer 26:19) Those in Bethel sent Sharezer and Regem-Melek

and their men to entreat the graces of the Lord,

3 (Zec 8:19; Jer 52:12-14) saying to the priests and prophets of the house

of the Lord of Hosts, "Should I weep and dedicate myself during

the fifth month as I have done in these many years?"

4 Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying:

5 (Zec 1:12; Isa 1:11-12) Say to all the people in the land

and to the priests: When you fasted and lamented during the fifth

and seventh months for these seventy years, did you really fast for Me?

6 (1Co 11:20-21) And when you eat and when you drink,

do you not eat and drink for yourselves?

7 (Jer 17:26; Isa 1:16-20) Were these not the very words that the former

prophets proclaimed when Jerusalem dwelled with ease along with

her surrounding cities, and when the Negev and the Lowland were inhabited?

1 And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Darius, that the word of

the LORD came unto Zechariah in the fourth day of the ninth month, even

in Chisleu;

2 When they had sent unto the house of God Sherezer and Regemmelech, and

their men, to pray before the LORD,

3 And to speak unto the priests which were in the house of the LORD of

hosts, and to the prophets, saying, Should I weep in the fifth month,

separating myself, as I have done these so many years?

4 Then came the word of the LORD of hosts unto me, saying,

5 Speak unto all the people of the land, and to the priests, saying,

When ye fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh month, even those

seventy years, did ye at all fast unto me, even to me?

6 And when ye did eat, and when ye did drink, did not ye eat for

yourselves, and drink for yourselves?

7 Should ye not hear the words which the LORD hath cried by the former

prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and the cities

thereof round about her, when men inhabited the south and the plain?

Punishment for Rejecting God's Demands

8 And the word of the Lord came to Zechariah, saying:

9 (Mic 6:8; Jer 21:12) Thus says the Lord of Hosts: Execute true justice,

show mercy and compassion, every man to his brother.

10 (Ps 21:11; 72:4) Do not oppress the widow, orphan, sojourner, or poor.

And let none of you contemplate evil deeds in your hearts against his brother.

11 (Ne 9:29; Jer 8:5) But they refused to pay attention and turned a stubborn

shoulder, and stopped their ears so that they should not hear.

12 (Ne 9:29-30; 2Ch 36:16) They made their hearts hard like a diamond

so as not to hear the instruction and words that the Lord of Hosts

sent by His Spirit through the former prophets, and there was great anger

from the Lord of Hosts.

13 (Isa 1:15; Pr 1:24-28) Therefore it happened that as I called,

and they would not hear, so they called, and I would not hear,

says the Lord of Hosts.

14 (Dt 28:33; 4:27) So I scattered them about among all the nations

whom they did not know, so the land was left desolate behind them with

no one coming or going. And they made a desirable land desolate.

8 And the word of the LORD came unto Zechariah, saying,

9 Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Execute true judgment, and

shew mercy and compassions every man to his brother:

10 And oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the

poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart.

11 But they refused to hearken, and pulled away the shoulder, and

stopped their ears, that they should not hear.

12 Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, lest they should

hear the law, and the words which the LORD of hosts hath sent in his spirit

by the former prophets: therefore came a great wrath from the LORD of

hosts.

13 Therefore it is come to pass, that as he cried, and they would not

hear; so they cried, and I would not hear, saith the LORD of hosts:

14 But I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations whom they

knew not. Thus the land was desolate after them, that no man passed

through nor returned: for they laid the pleasant land desolate.

Grafted into God's Family

Romans 11:11-21

The Salvation of the Gentiles

11 (Ro 10:19; 11:14) I say then, have they stumbled that

they should fall? God forbid! But through their transgression salvation

has come to the Gentiles, to make them jealous.

12 (Ro 11:25) Now if their transgression means riches for the world,

and their failure means riches for the Gentiles, how much more will

their fullness mean?

13 (Ac 9:15) For I am speaking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch as I am

the apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry,

14 (1Co 7:16; Ro 9:3; 1Ti 4:16) if somehow I may make my kinsmen

jealous and may save some of them.

15 For if their rejection means the reconciliation of the world,

what will their acceptance mean but life from the dead?

16 (Eze 44:30; Lev 23:10) If the first portion of the dough is holy,

the batch is also holy. And if the root is holy, so are the branches.

17 (Jer 11:16; Eph 2:11-13) But if some of the branches were broken

off, and you, being a wild olive shoot, were grafted in among them

and became a partaker with them of the root

and richness of the olive tree,

18 do not boast against the branches. If you boast,

remember you do not sustain the root, but the root sustains you.

19 You will say then, "The branches were broken off, so that I might

be grafted in."

20 (Ro 12:16; 1Co 10:12) This is correct. They were broken off

because of unbelief, but you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant,

but fear.

21 For if God did not spare the natural branches, neither will

He spare you.

[11] I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but

rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to

provoke them to jealousy.

[12] Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing

of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness?

[13] For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the

Gentiles, I magnify mine office:

[14] If by any means I may provoke to emulation them which are my flesh, and

might save some of them.

[15] For if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what

shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?

[16] For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root

be holy, so are the branches.

[17] And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive

tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and

fatness of the olive tree;

[18] Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the

root, but the root thee.

[19] Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be

graffed in.

[20] Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by

faith. Be not highminded, but fear:

[21] For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also

spare not thee.

During a visit with my father to his beloved Ecuador a few years ago,

we visited the family farm where he grew up. I noticed a group of strange

trees. My dad explained that when he was feeling mischievous as a boy, he

would take a discarded branch from one fruit tree, make slits in a different

kind of fruit tree, and tie the loose branch to the trunk like he saw the

grownups do. His pranks went unnoticed until those trees started bearing

different fruit than expected.

As my dad described the process of engrafting, I got a picture of what it

means for us to be grafted into God's family. I know my late father is in

heaven because he was grafted into God's family through faith in Jesus.

We can have the assurance of eventually being in heaven as well. The apostle

Paul explained to the believers in Rome that God made a way for gentiles, or

non-Jews, to be reconciled with Himself:

"And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive

tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and

fatness of the olive tree;" (Romans 11:17). When we put our faith in Christ,

we're grafted in with Him and become part of God’s family.

"If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit" (John 15:5).

Similar to engrafted trees, when we place our trust in Christ,

we become a new creation and can bear much fruit.

Week 5 Rejoice in Grace - Day 3 The song of Exaltation

Exodus 15:2

2 The Lord is my strength and song,

and He has become my salvation.

He is my God, and I will praise Him;

my father's God, and I will exalt Him.

2 The LORD is my strength and song,

And he is become my salvation:

He is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation;

My father's God, and I will exalt him.

The world is full of music that communicates human emotion:

love, joy, sadness, separation.

A love song makes us misty-eyed; a song of protest arouses anger; a song

describing loss stimulates feelings of hurt and abandonment.

Music is a powerful force to sway the human spirit.

Exodus 15:2 indicates that God should be the source of the songs in our hearts.

Human emotions vacillate; human relationships disappoint,

but God is our "strength" and our "song".

To exalt the Lord includes many different type of "songs".

"I can't carry a tune in a bucket," one woman complained.

"How can I sing to the Lord anything that will be pleasing to him?"

But the Lord does not delight in the professionalism of our songs,

but in the motivation of our hearts. We can "sing to the Lord"

when we enjoy a Bach organ piece played for his glory.

We can exalt him in the words of Scripture - either remembered or sung.

We can worship him by enjoying the songs of others.

The key to making the Lord our song is exaltation. When our thoughts

lift him up in praise, we are singing a song of exaltation to the Lord.

When God is exalted in our songs, in our hearts, and in our thoughts,

that focus gives strength to our lives. We can face the difficulties

that are an inevitable part of experience,

because God is our "strength and our song".

Application

a) What is the difference between a song that is professionally performed

and one that exalts the Lord?

b) What practical steps can I take to make

my daily life a "song of praise" to God?

4) From Prosperity Promises - Kenneth Copeland

Gen 13:2,5-6,14-17

2 (Ge 24:35; Ps 112:1-3) Abram was very wealthy in livestock,

in silver and in gold.

5 Now Lot, who went with Abram, also had flocks and herds and tents.

6 (Ge 36:6-7) But the land was not able to support them

both dwelling together because their possessions were so great.

14 (Ge 28:14; Dt 3:27) After Lot had departed from him,

the Lord said to Abram,

"Lift up now your eyes, and look from the place where you are,

northward and southward and eastward and westward.

15 (Ge 12:7; 2Ch 20:7) All the land that you see I will give to you

and to your descendants forever.

16 (Ge 28:14; Nu 23:10) I will make your descendants like the dust

of the earth, so that if a man could number the dust of the earth,

then your descendants could also be numbered.

17 Arise, and walk throughout the land across its length

and its width, for I will give it to you."

2 And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.

5 And Lot also, which went with Abram, had flocks, and herds, and tents.

6 And the land was not able to bear them, that they might dwell together:

for their substance was great, so that they could not dwell together.

14 And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him,

Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward,

and southward, and eastward, and westward:

15 for all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it,

and to thy seed for ever.

16 And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man

can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered.

17 Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it;

for I will give it unto thee.

5) From a Book called God's Promises for you:

God's Generous Provision

Ps 145:13b-21

13 Your dominion endures throughout all generations.

14 The Lord upholds all who fall,

and raises up all who are bowed down.

15 The eyes of all wait upon You,

and You give them their food in due season.

16 You open Your hand

and satisfy the desire of every living thing.

17 The Lord is righteous in all His ways

and loving in all His works.

18 The Lord is near to all those who call upon Him,

to all who call upon Him in truth.

19 He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him;

He also will hear their cry and will save them.

20 The Lord preserves all those who love Him,

but all the wicked He will destroy.

21 My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord,

and let all people bless His holy name

forever and ever.

13 And thy dominion endureth throughout all generations.

14 The LORD upholdeth all that fall,

And raiseth up all those that be bowed down.

15 The eyes of all wait upon thee;

And thou givest them their meat in due season.

16 Thou openest thine hand,

And satisfiest the desire of every living thing.

17 The LORD is righteous in all his ways,

And holy in all his works.

18 The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him,

To all that call upon him in truth.

19 He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him:

He also will hear their cry, and will save them.

20 The LORD preserveth all them that love him:

But all the wicked will he destroy.

21 My mouth shall speak the praise of the LORD:

And let all flesh bless his holy name for ever and ever.

The Lord's prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

9 "Therefore pray in this manner:

Our Father who is in heaven,

hallowed be Your name.

10 (Mt 3:2; 4:17) Your kingdom come;

Your will be done

on earth, as it is in heaven.

11 (Pr 30:8; Isa 33:16) Give us this day our daily bread.

12 (Ex 34:7; Ps 32:1) And forgive us our debts,

as we forgive our debtors.

13 (1Co 10:13; Jn 17:15) And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."

9 After this manner therefore pray ye:

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

11 Give us this day our daily bread.

12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

- in and around Halifax and other cities

- on university campuses

- for new workers among Muslims

- for pastors and churches to be bold in vision, passion and outreach

to Muslims in their areas.

- for Muslims who are searching for a better way to find a Christian friend

to share Jesus with and disciple them

- for Muslim-background believers to be both wise and bold in sharing their

new faith in Jesus with other Muslims

Halifax is the centre of Muslim activity for the Province of Nova Scotia

with at least 10 Islamic centres (mosques) and musallas

(prayer locations, especially for Friday prayer). And there are other mosques

in Chebucto, Kearney Lake, Dartmouth, Bedford and Truro.

Though the original community of Muslims was primarily composed of

newcomers from Turkey, Pakistan, Bangladesh and India, continued immigration

has further diversified this community. Anf it is said thay Arabic

is the second most spoken language in Halifax.

while conservative estimates place the number of Muslims at almost 15000

in 2014, the Imama of a primary Halifax mosque estimates their population

somewhere between 25000 to 30000.

30 days of prayer for the Muslim World 24 April to 23 May 2020

Under the Keep Praying page

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month

and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days

of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that

usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,

of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be

decorated and festivals will be held.

For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the

distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of

Islam.

You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",

which means Blessed Eid!"

Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you

know, and Muslims around the world:

- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions

in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about

unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such

movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three

decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim

relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.

Acts 2:12-17 : 17 12 They were all amazed and perplexed, saying to each other,

"What does this mean?"

13 (1Co 14:23) Others mocking said, "These men are full of new wine."

Peter's Speech at Pentecost

14 (Ac 1:26) But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice

and said to them, "Men of Judea and all you who dwell in Jerusalem,

let this be known to you, and listen to my words.

15 For these are not drunk, as you suppose,

since it is the third hour of the day.

16 But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:

17 (Isa 44:3; Ac 10:45) 'In the last days it shall be,' says God,

'that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;

your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

your young men shall see visions,

and your old men shall dream dreams.'

[2] In the first chariot were red horses; and in the second chariot black

horses;

13 (Ps 110:4; 21:5) It is he who shall build the temple of the Lord;

he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule on his throne.

Jedaiah, which are come from Babylon, and come thou the same day, and go

into the house of Josiah the son of Zephaniah;

[11] Then take silver and gold, and make crowns, and set them upon the head

of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest;

And

this shall come to pass, if ye will diligently obey the voice of the LORD

your God.

1 And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Darius, that the word of

the LORD came unto Zechariah in the fourth day of the ninth month, even

in Chisleu;

[17] And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive

tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and

fatness of the olive tree;

He is my God, and I will praise Him;

my father's God, and I will exalt Him.

2 The LORD is my strength and song,

And he is become my salvation:

He is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation;

17 Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it;

for I will give it unto thee.

19 He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him;

15 The eyes of all wait upon thee;

10 (Mt 3:2; 4:17) Your kingdom come;

Pray for Nova Scotia and her Muslim populations

'that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;

your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

your young men shall see visions,

and your old men shall dream dreams.'

- Pray for Christian workers an organisations focused on seeing effective

discipleship movements among Muslim people.

- Ask the Holy Spirit to continue to inspire you to have god's heart for

Muslims, to see them as He does, and to be the light that then to Jesus.

Matthew 5:14-15 : 14 "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a

hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do men light a candle and put it under

a basket, but on a candlestick. And it gives light to all who are in the

house."

Ideas for prayer

- Pray for opportunities to show the love of Christ to Muslims around you

- Pray for, and offer generous hospitality to, those you know who are serving

Christ among Muslim people -

Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."

- When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims

ChatGPT reviews Doctor Who - Doomsday

Here’s a review of *Doctor Who: Doomsday*, keeping to 59 characters per line and between 900-1000 words:

---

*Doomsday*, the emotional and action-packed finale of Doctor Who series two, is a stunning conclusion to the two-part story that began with *Army of Ghosts*. It is remembered for its high-stakes drama, the epic clash between the Daleks and Cybermen, and most of all, the heartbreaking farewell between the Doctor and Rose Tyler.

The episode picks up directly after the cliffhanger of *Army of Ghosts*, where the Daleks and Cybermen face off in the battle for Earth. This showdown between two of the Doctor's most iconic enemies provides much of the action and spectacle. The Daleks’ superiority complex and the Cybermen's cold logic lead to some brilliant exchanges, injecting both tension and dark humor into their rivalry. The scale of the conflict is immense, with Earth caught in the crossfire, but the Doctor and his companions must find a way to save humanity once again.

At the heart of *Doomsday*, though, is the emotional core that has been building throughout the series: the relationship between the Doctor and Rose. Their bond has been one of the most compelling aspects of the second series, and the stakes are raised to devastating heights as they fight to stay together while the world crumbles around them. Rose’s determination to stay with the Doctor, no matter the cost, adds emotional depth to the story, making the eventual separation all the more tragic.

The Daleks are revealed to be part of the Cult of Skaro, a special faction with the ability to think creatively. Their plan to use the Genesis Ark—a Time Lord prison ship that holds millions of Daleks—escalates the threat level to near-apocalyptic proportions. The Doctor’s cleverness in handling both the Daleks and Cybermen is on full display here, as he tries to find a solution without resorting to violence. His eventual plan, to open the breach and suck both enemies into the void, is a classic Doctor move, using wit and strategy rather than brute force.

However, the cost of this victory is immense. In order to activate the breach, both the Doctor and Rose must work together from separate locations. The moment where Rose is pulled into the breach, only to be saved by her father from the parallel universe, is one of the most heart-wrenching scenes in the series. Her anguished cries as she realizes she will never see the Doctor again are a testament to Billie Piper’s performance, capturing the devastation of their separation.

The subsequent scene on the beach, where Rose and the Doctor have their final conversation through the last remaining crack between worlds, is iconic. The Doctor’s attempt to say goodbye before the transmission cuts off, leaving him unable to fully express his feelings, is a gut-wrenching moment for fans. The raw emotion of this scene is amplified by Murray Gold’s score, which perfectly captures the sorrow and finality of their farewell.

The supporting cast also delivers strong performances, with Jackie Tyler and Mickey Smith playing key roles in the parallel universe subplot. Jackie’s reunion with Pete from the parallel world adds an unexpected but touching resolution to her arc. Mickey, who has grown significantly over the series, proves his worth by standing alongside the Doctor and Rose in their final battle. Torchwood leader Yvonne Hartman’s ultimate sacrifice, turning into a Cyberman while retaining a fragment of her humanity, adds another layer of tragedy to the narrative.

The episode is visually impressive, with grand, cinematic shots of the Daleks and Cybermen battles, as well as the emotional beach scene that serves as the story’s climax. The production team’s ability to balance action with intimate, character-driven moments is commendable, making Doomsday not just a spectacle but a deeply emotional experience for viewers.

One of the standout aspects of Doomsday is how it manages to blend the personal with the epic. While the Dalek-Cybermen war rages on a massive scale, the focus remains on the Doctor and Rose's relationship. This balance is what makes Doomsday so effective as a finale: it doesn’t lose sight of the characters at the heart of the story, even in the midst of a global crisis.

The closing moments of the episode introduce Catherine Tate’s Donna Noble in a surprising twist, leading directly into the 2006 Christmas special, *The Runaway Bride*. This sudden shift in tone, from the tragic farewell to the comedic entrance of a new character, is jarring but also serves as a reminder that life goes on, even after the most devastating of losses.

In conclusion, Doomsday is one of the most memorable episodes of Doctor Who due to its combination of thrilling action, emotional depth, and iconic moments. The battle between the Daleks and Cybermen is a fan's dream come true, but it’s the Doctor and Rose’s heartbreaking separation that makes this episode unforgettable. The performances, especially by David Tennant and Billie Piper, elevate the material, creating an emotional resonance that lingers long after the credits roll.

---

Rating: 9.5/10

Doomsday is a near-perfect finale, blending high-octane action with deep emotional stakes. The farewell between the Doctor and Rose is one of the most iconic moments in Doctor Who history, and the episode as a whole delivers a satisfying and heartbreaking conclusion to their story. While the action is thrilling, it’s the emotional depth that makes this episode truly stand out.

God's Command to Rebuild the Temple

1 (Ezr 2:2; 3:2; 3:8) In the second year of King Darius, in the sixth month,

on the first day of the month, the word of the Lord came

by Haggai the prophet to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel,

governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak,

the high priest, saying,

2 Thus says the Lord of Hosts: These people say, The time has not yet come

to rebuild the house of the Lord.

3 (Ezr 5:1) Then the word of the Lord came by Haggai the prophet, saying:

4 (2Sa 7:2; Ps 132:3-5) Is it time for you yourselves to live in paneled

houses, while this house lies in ruins?

5 (La 3:40) Now, therefore, thus says the Lord of Hosts: Consider your ways.

6 (Hag 2:16; Zec 8:10) You have sown much, and harvested little. You eat,

but you do not have enough; you drink, but you are not filled with drink;

you clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; and he who earns wages earns

wages to put them into a bag with holes.

7 (Hag 1:5) Thus says the Lord of Hosts: Consider your ways.

8 (Ps 132:13-14; Hag 2:7) Go up to the mountain and bring wood

and rebuild the house, that I may take pleasure in it and be glorified,

says the Lord.

9 (Hag 1:4; Isa 40:7) You looked for much, and it came to little;

and when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why? says the Lord of Hosts.

Because of My house that lies in ruins while each of you runs to his own house.

10 (Lev 26:19; Dt 28:23-24) Therefore the heavens above you have withheld

the dew, and the earth has withheld its crops.

11 (Hag 2:17; Dt 28:22) I called for a drought on the land and the mountains,

on the grain, on the new wine, on the oil, on what the ground brings forth,

on men, on livestock, and on all the labor of your hands.

Haggai 1

[1] In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the

first day of the month, came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet

unto Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua

the son of Josedech, the high priest, saying,

[2] Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, This people say, The time

is not come, the time that the LORD's house should be built.

[3] Then came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet, saying,

[4] Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your cieled houses, and this

house lie waste?

[5] Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.

[6] Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not

enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but

there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it

into a bag with holes.

[7] Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.

[8] Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I

will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the LORD.

[9] Ye looked for much, and, lo, it came to little; and when ye brought

it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the LORD of hosts. Because of

mine house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his own house.

[10] Therefore the heaven over you is stayed from dew, and the earth is

stayed from her fruit.

[11] And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains,

and upon the corn, and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon

that which the ground bringeth forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and

upon all the labour of the hands.

The People Obey God's Command

12 (Isa 50:10; Hag 1:14) Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua

the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people,

obeyed the voice of the Lord their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet,

as the Lord their God had sent him. And the people feared the Lord.

13 (Ps 46:11; Isa 41:10) Then Haggai, the messenger of the Lord, spoke

the message of the Lord to the people, saying: I am with you, says the Lord.

14 (Hag 1:1; Ezr 5:2) Andthe Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabeltheson

of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua

the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant

of the people. And they came and worked on thehouse of the Lord of Hosts

their God,

15 (Hag 1:1) on the twenty-fourth day of the sixth month, in the second year

of King Darius.

[12] Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Josedech,

the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the

LORD their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the LORD their God

had sent him, and the people did fear before the LORD.

[13] Then spake Haggai the LORD's messenger in the LORD's message unto the

people, saying, I am with you, saith the LORD.

[14] And the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel,

governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high

priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and

did work in the house of the LORD of hosts, their God,

[15] In the four and twentieth day of the sixth month, in the second year of

Darius the king.

Haggai 2

The Future Glory of the Temple

1 (Hag 1:1) In the seventh month, on the twenty-first day of the month,

the word of the Lord came by Haggai the prophet, saying:

2 (Hag 1:1) Speak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah,

and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and to all the remnant

of the people, saying:

3 (Ezr 3:12) Who is left among you who saw this house in its former glory?

How do you see it now? Is it not, in your eyes, as nothing in comparison?

4 (Zec 8:9; 2Sa 5:10) Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, says the Lord,

and be strong, O Joshua, son of Jehozadak, the high priest. Be strong all you

people of the land, says the Lord. Work, for I am with you, says the Lord

of Hosts.

5 (Ne 9:20; Ex 29:45-46) According to the covenant that I made with you

when you came out of Egypt, so My Spirit remains among you. Do not fear.

6 (Isa 10:25; 29:17) For thus says the Lord of Hosts: Once more,

in a little while, I will shake the heavens and earth, the sea and dry land.

7 (1Ki 8:11; Isa 60:7) And I will shake all the nations, and they will come

with the wealth of all nations, and I will fill this house with glory,

says the Lord of Hosts.

8 (Isa 60:17) The silver is mine, and the gold is Mine,

says the Lord of Hosts.

9 (Isa 9:6-7) The glory of this latter house will be greater than the former,

says the Lord of Hosts. And in this place I will give peace,

says the Lord of Hosts.

[1] In the seventh month, in the one and twentieth day of the month, came

the word of the LORD by the prophet Haggai, saying,

[2] Speak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to

Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and to the residue of the

people, saying,

[3] Who is left among you that saw this house in her first glory? and how do

ye see it now? is it not in your eyes in comparison of it as nothing?

[4] Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, saith the LORD; and be strong, O

Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest; and be strong, all ye people of

the land, saith the LORD, and work: for I am with you, saith the LORD of

hosts:

[5] According to the word that I covenanted with you when ye came out of

Egypt, so my spirit remaineth among you: fear ye not.

[6] For thus saith the LORD of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I

will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land;

[7] And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come:

and I will fill this house with glory, saith the LORD of hosts.

[8] The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts.

[9] The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former,

saith the LORD of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the LORD

of hosts.

Blessings on a Defiled People

10 (Hag 2:20; 1:1) On the 24th day of the ninth month,

in the second year of Darius, the word of the Lord came by Haggai the prophet,

saying:

11 (Lev 10:10-11; Mal 2:7) Thus says the Lord of Hosts:

Now ask the priests concerning the law, saying,

12 (Lev 6:27; Mt 23:19) If a man carries holy meat in the fold of his garment,

and touches with his fold bread or stew, or wine or oil, or any food,

will it become holy?

The priests answered, "No."

13 Then Haggai said, "If one who is unclean by contact with a dead body

touches any of these, will it become unclean?"

The priests answered, "It will become unclean."

14 (Pr 15:8; Isa 1:11-15) Then Haggai said, So it is with this people,

and so it is with this nation before Me, says the Lord,

and so with every work of their hands; and what they offer there is unclean.

15 (Hag 1:5; Ezr 3:10) Now consider from this day onward: from before stone

was laid upon stone in the temple of the Lord,

16 (Hag 1:6) from those days when one came to a heap of twenty measures,

there were but ten. When one came to the wine vat to draw fifty measures,

there were but twenty.

17 (Dt 28:22; 1Ki 8:37) I struck you and all the labor of your hands

with blight and mildew and hail; yet you did not turn to Me.

18 (Zec 8:9; Hag 2:15) Consider from this day onward, from the 24th day

of the ninth month, from the day when the foundation of the temple

of the Lord was laid, consider:

19 (Ps 128:1-5; Mal 3:10) Isthe seed yet in the barn?

As of yet, the vine, the fig tree, the pomegranate, and the olive tree

have yielded nothing. But from this day on I will bless you.

[10] In the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, in the second year of

Darius, came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet, saying,

[11] Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Ask now the priests concerning the law,

saying,

[12] If one bear holy flesh in the skirt of his garment, and with his skirt

do touch bread, or pottage, or wine, or oil, or any meat, shall it be holy?

And the priests answered and said, No.

[13] Then said Haggai, If one that is unclean by a dead body touch any of

these, shall it be unclean? And the priests answered and said, It shall be

unclean.

[14] Then answered Haggai, and said, So is this people, and so is this

nation before me, saith the LORD; and so is every work of their hands; and

that which they offer there is unclean.

[15] And now, I pray you, consider from this day and upward, from before a

stone was laid upon a stone in the temple of the LORD:

[16] Since those days were, when one came to an heap of twenty measures,

there were but ten: when one came to the pressfat for to draw out fifty

vessels out of the press, there were but twenty.

[17] I smote you with blasting and with mildew and with hail in all the

labours of your hands; yet ye turned not to me, saith the LORD.

[18] Consider now from this day and upward, from the four and twentieth day

of the ninth month, even from the day that the foundation of the LORD's

temple was laid, consider it.

[19] Is the seed yet in the barn? yea, as yet the vine, and the fig tree,

and the pomegranate, and the olive tree, hath not brought forth: from this

day will I bless you.

The Promise of God to Zerubbabel

20 The word of the Lord came a second time to Haggai

on the 24th day of the month:

21 (Ezr 5:2; Hag 1:1) Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying,

I will shake the heavens and the earth.

22 (Mic 5:10; Jdg 7:22) I will overthrow the throne of the kingdoms.

I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the nations.

I will overthrow the chariots and their riders. The horses and their riders

will come down, every one by the sword of his brother.

23 (Isa 43:10; 42:1) On that day, says the Lord of Hosts, I will take you,

O Zerubbabel My servant, the son of Shealtiel, says the Lord,

and I will make you like a signet ring; for I have chosen you,

says the Lord of Hosts.

[20] And again the word of the LORD came unto Haggai in the four and

twentieth day of the month, saying,

[21] Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, I will shake the

heavens and the earth;

[22] And I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and I will destroy the

strength of the kingdoms of the heathen; and I will overthrow the chariots,

and those that ride in them; and the horses and their riders shall come

down, every one by the sword of his brother.

[23] In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, will I take thee, O Zerubbabel,

my servant, the son of Shealtiel, saith the LORD, and will make thee as a

signet: for I have chosen thee, saith the LORD of hosts.

2) Our Daily Bread for 16 September 2024 titled Built on Christ

1 Peter 2:4-10

4 (1Pe 2:7) Coming to Him as to a living stone who is rejected by men,

but chosen by God and precious,

5 (Php 4:18; 1Pe 2:9; Isa 61:6) you also, as living stones, are being built

up into a spiritual house as a holy priesthood to offer up spiritual

sacrifices that are acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

6 (Isa 28:16; Eph 2:20) For also it is contained in the Scripture,

"Look! I lay in Zion

a chief cornerstone, elect, precious,

and he who believes in Him

shall never be put to shame." (Isa 28:16.)

7 (Mt 21:42; 2Co 2:16) Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious.

But to those who are disobedient,

"The stone that the builders rejected

has become the cornerstone,"(Ps 118:22.)

8 (Isa 8:14; Ro 9:22) and,

"A stone of stumbling,

and a rock of offense."(Isa 8:14.)

They stumble because they are disobedient to the word,

to which also they were appointed.

9 (Dt 7:6; 10:15) But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy

nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may declare the

goodness of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

10 (Hos 1:9-10; 2:23) In times past, you were not a people, but now you are

the people of God. You had not received mercy, but now you have received

mercy.

[4] To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but

chosen of God, and precious,

[5] Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy

priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus

Christ.

[6] Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a

chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not

be confounded.

[7] Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be

disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the

head of the corner,

[8] And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which

stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.

[9] But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a

peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath

called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

[10] Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God:

which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

We have all sorts of names for groups of animals. No doubt you've heard of a

flock of sheep, a herd of cattle, or even a gaggle of geese. But some names

may surprise you. A group of crows is called a murder. How about a

congregation of alligators, or a crash of rhinoceroses? Have you heard

of a building of rooks (Eurasian crows)?

Building, in fact, is one of the names in the Bible for believers in Jesus.

"You are . . . God’s building," wrote the apostle Paul (1 Corinthians 3:9).

There are other names for believers as well: "the flock" (Acts 20:28),

"the body of Christ" (1 Corinthians 12:27), "brothers and sisters"

(1 Thessalonians 2:14), and more.

The building metaphor recurs in 1 Peter 2:5, as Peter tells the church,

"Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house"

Then, in verse 6, Peter quotes Isaiah 28:16, "Behold, I lay in Sion a

chief corner stone," Jesus is the very foundation of His building.

We may have the sense that it's our job to build the church, but Jesus

said, "I will build my church" (Matthew 16:18). We're chosen by God to

"declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his

wonderful light" (1 Peter 2:9). As we declare those praises,

we become instruments in His hands as He does His good work.

Week 5 Rejoice in Grace - Day 2 The Wardrobe of Joy Isaiah 61:10

10 I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God;

for He has clothed me with the garments of salvation,

He has covered me with the robe of righteousness,

as a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments,

and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

10 I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God;

for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me

with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself

with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.

On her wedding day, the bride dresses carefully for the ceremony

that is about to take place. Never before has she spent so much

time in preparation for one relatively brief event. When she

looks in the mirror and rejoices in her happiness, she responds not

out of vanity, but for sheer joy as she anticipates the coming ceremony.

God wants his people, lie that bride to be joyful, to rejoice in the Lord,

the Bridegroom. And he gives, through his grace,

the garments of joy to his beloved ones.

He clothes us, Isaiah says, with salvation, and covers us with

the robe of righteousness. The wardrobe that God provides is not merely

a utility garment, a coverall that hides our sin from his eyes.

It is his own righteousness in Christ, given to us as a free gift, so that

we might be united with him. And God himself, Isaiah says,

is filled with joy, adorning himself like a bridegroom.

When we truly see God's immeasurable gift in accepting us as him own,

we also will "greatly rejoice" in the Lord. He, the eternal god,

Creator of the universe, desires to be united with us, as a husband

desires his wife! God does not simply accept us grudgingly,

reminding us of our unworthiness to be with him. Rather, he celebrates

with unrestrained joy his oneness in Spirit with those he calls his own.

And we, having been fully forgiven

and set free from sin, can rejoice unashamedly as well.

Ps 35:27

27 May those who favour my righteous cause shout for joy and be glad;

may they say continually, "The Lord be magnified,

who delights in the peace of His servant."

27 Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause:

Yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified,

which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.

God's Generous Provision

Matthew 6:24-34

God and Money

24 (Lk 16:13; 16:11; 16:9) "No one can serve two masters.

For either he will hate the one and love the other,

or else he will hold to the one and despise the other.

You cannot serve God and money."

Care and Anxiety

Lk 12:22-34

25 (Mt 6:31; 6:34; Php 4:6) "Therefore, I say to you,

take no thought about your life, what you will eat,

or what you will drink, nor about your body,

what you will put on. Is not life more than

and the body than clothing?

26 (Job 38:41; Ps 147:9) Look at the birds of the air,

for they do not sow, nor do they reap, nor gather into barns.

Yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much better than they?

27 Who among you by taking thought can add a cubit

(A cubit is about half a meter.) to his stature?

28 (Mt 6:25; 6:31) "Why take thought about clothing?

Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow:

They neither work, nor do they spin.

29 (1Ki 10:4-7; 2Ch 9:4-6) Yet I say to you that even Solomon

in all his glory was not dressed like one of these.

30 (Mt 8:26; 14:31) Therefore, if God so clothes the grass of the field,

which today is here and tomorrow is thrown into the oven,

will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

31 (1Pe 5:7) Therefore, take no thought, saying, 'What shall we eat?'

or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?'

32 (Mt 6:8; Lk 12:30) (For the Gentiles seek after all these things.)

For your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things.

33 (1Ti 4:8; 1Ki 3:11-13) But seek first the kingdom of God

and His righteousness, and all these things shall be given to you.

34 (Mt 6:25) Therefore, take no thought about tomorrow,

for tomorrow will take thought about the things of itself.

Sufficient to the day is the trouble thereof.

True Wisdom

24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one,

and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other.

Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat,

or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not

the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor

gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much

better than they?

27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field,

how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:

29 and yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed

like one of these.

30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is,

and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you,

O ye of little faith?

31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat?

or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek

for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God,

and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow:

for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.

Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Remember God's promises when You pray

The Lord's prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

9 "Therefore pray in this manner:

Our Father who is in heaven,

hallowed be Your name.

10 (Mt 3:2; 4:17) Your kingdom come;

Amen.

There have been more such

movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims

in the last three

decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim

relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.

Acts 2:12-17 : 17 12 They were all amazed and perplexed, saying to each other,

17 (Isa 44:3; Ac 10:45) 'In the last days it shall be,' says God,

'that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;

your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

your young men shall see visions,

and your old men shall dream dreams.'

ChatGPT reviw Doctor Who - Army of Ghosts

Here’s a review of *Doctor Who: Army of Ghosts*, keeping to 59 characters per line and between 900-1000 words:

---

*Army of Ghosts*, the first part of the series two finale, marks the beginning of a high-stakes, emotionally charged story arc that brings the Doctor, Rose, and humanity face-to-face with one of their deadliest foes. It sets the stage for the epic conclusion while blending science fiction, suspense, and heartbreak.

The episode opens with an ominous monologue from Rose, foreshadowing her impending separation from the Doctor. This immediately establishes a somber tone and prepares the audience for an emotionally heavy finale. The Doctor and Rose return to contemporary Earth, where they discover that ghost-like apparitions have been appearing all over the world. While many people have accepted these "ghosts" as a normal part of life, the Doctor is skeptical and sets out to investigate.

The domestic scenes with Jackie Tyler add a grounded, human element to the episode. Jackie’s humorous belief that one of the ghosts is her deceased husband, Pete, gives a poignant insight into how these apparitions have impacted ordinary lives. Her dynamic with the Doctor is as lively as ever, providing moments of levity in an otherwise tense episode.

The Doctor soon discovers that the ghosts are the result of a breach in the fabric of reality, caused by the activities of Torchwood, a secretive organization dedicated to investigating alien technology. The reveal of Torchwood and its high-tech headquarters in Canary Wharf is an exciting moment for longtime fans, as it ties together threads that have been building throughout the series. Torchwood’s moral ambiguity is well-presented, with their leader, Yvonne Hartman, coming across as both pragmatic and ruthless. She’s driven by a desire to protect humanity but at the cost of manipulating dangerous alien technology.

The episode’s pacing is strong, with a gradual build-up of suspense as the Doctor and Torchwood clash over how to handle the situation. The ghosts are soon revealed to be Cybermen from a parallel universe, using the breach to invade Earth. This reveal is well-executed, especially for fans who have been following the arc of the Cybermen throughout the series. The Cybermen, as always, are a terrifying threat, with their cold logic and emotionless demeanor adding to the growing sense of dread.

But Army of Ghosts doesn’t stop there. In one of the series' most thrilling twists, the episode reveals that another threat is lurking within the breach: the Daleks. The sudden appearance of the Daleks and the reveal of the "Genesis Ark" raises the stakes to an entirely new level. The idea of two of the Doctor’s greatest enemies clashing in a battle for Earth sets up an exciting premise for the following episode. The tension between the Cybermen and Daleks is immediately palpable, and the audience is left on the edge of their seats, wondering how the Doctor and Rose can possibly survive such a formidable conflict.

Rose’s role in this episode is significant, as it sets up her eventual fate. Her bravery and loyalty to the Doctor are evident throughout, particularly in her determination to stay by his side despite the growing danger. There’s a deep sense of foreboding in her interactions with him, as the earlier monologue about their impending separation hangs over every scene. The chemistry between the Doctor and Rose continues to shine, and their relationship remains a central emotional anchor for the story.

The Doctor’s dynamic with Torchwood is another highlight of the episode. He’s immediately distrustful of their methods and their willingness to manipulate alien technology for their own ends. His moral compass clashes with Yvonne’s pragmatic approach, creating tension between them. The Doctor’s righteous anger at their reckless use of the breach reflects his deep sense of responsibility for protecting the universe, even from those who believe they’re doing the right thing.

Visually, Army of Ghosts is impressive. The scenes of ghosts appearing around the world are eerie and well-executed, and the Torchwood headquarters feels both sleek and ominous, reflecting the organization’s secretive and morally complex nature. The design of the Cybermen continues to impress, with their metallic, imposing presence creating an ever-present sense of danger. The Daleks’ entrance is suitably dramatic, reinforcing their status as one of the most fearsome creatures in the Doctor Who universe.

While the episode is packed with action and suspense, it also takes time to explore deeper themes. The use of the ghosts as a metaphor for loss and the human desire to reconnect with the past is a subtle but powerful undercurrent. Jackie’s belief that one of the ghosts could be Pete is a poignant reminder of the pain of grief and how people can cling to even the faintest hope of being reunited with loved ones. This theme of loss is echoed in Rose’s impending separation from the Doctor, adding an emotional depth to the narrative.

The cliffhanger ending of Army of Ghosts is one of the most memorable in Doctor Who history. The tension between the Cybermen and Daleks, the Doctor’s helplessness in the face of such overwhelming odds, and the uncertainty of Rose’s fate create an unforgettable climax that leaves the audience eagerly anticipating the next episode. The build-up to this moment is expertly paced, with each revelation adding to the growing sense of dread and inevitability.

In conclusion, Army of Ghosts is an exceptional penultimate episode, combining thrilling action, emotional weight, and high-stakes drama. It successfully sets up the series finale while delivering some of the most iconic moments in *Doctor Who*. The combination of Cybermen, Daleks, and the Doctor’s emotional journey makes for a gripping and unforgettable story.

Rating: 9/10

With strong performances, a thrilling plot, and emotional depth, Army of Ghosts is a standout episode that perfectly sets the stage for the epic finale to follow. The cliffhanger and the high-stakes conflict between the Doctor’s greatest enemies make this an unforgettable part of the series.

There Is No Other Gospel

6 (2Co 11:4) I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him

who called you in the grace of Christ to a different gospel,

7 (Ac 15:24; Gal 5:10; 5:12) which is not a gospel.

But there are some who trouble you and would pervert the gospel of Christ.

8 (Ro 9:3; 1Co 16:22) Although if we or an angel from heaven preach

any other gospel to you than the one we have preached to you,

let him be accursed.

to please men, I would not be the servant of Christ.

[6] I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the

grace of Christ unto another gospel:

[7] Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would

pervert the gospel of Christ.

[8] But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you

than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

[9] As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other

gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

4 Then the serpent said to the woman, "You surely will not die!

5 For God knows that on the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened

6 When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasing to

of the gospel might continue with you.

Acts 20:28-31

28 (1Co 10:32; Isa 40:11) Therefore take heed to yourselves

and to the entire flock, over which the Holy Spirit has made you

overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased

with His own blood.

dreadful wolves will enter among you, not sparing the flock.

30 (1Ti 1:19-20; 1Jn 2:19) Even from among you men will arise

speaking perverse things, to draw the disciples away after them.

31 (Ac 19:10; 19:8) Therefore watch, remembering that for three years

night and day I did not cease to warn everyone with tears.

[28] Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the

which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God,

which he hath purchased with his own blood.

[29] For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in

among you, not sparing the flock.

[30] Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to

draw away disciples after them.

[31] Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I

ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.

were secretly brought in, who sneaked in to spy out our liberty,

which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage.

5 (Gal 2:14; 4:16) We did not yield to subjection to them,

not for an hour, that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.

Ezra 4

Resistance to Rebuilding

1 (Ezr 1:11) Now when the adversaries of Judah and Benjamin heard that

the descendants of the captivity built the temple unto the Lord God of Israel,

2 (2Ki 19:37; 17:24) they came to Zerubbabel, and to the chiefs

of the fathers' households, and said to them, "Let us build with you, for,

like you, we seek your God and have been sacrificing to Him since the days

of Esarhaddon king of Assyria, who brought us here."

3 (Ne 2:20) But Zerubbabel, and Joshua, and the rest of the chiefs

of the fathers' households of Israel said to them, "This is not for you!

It is for us to build the temple of our God, so we ourselves together

will build unto the Lord God of Israel, as Cyrus the king of Persia has

commanded us."

4 (Ezr 3:3) Then the people of the land demoralized the people of Judah

and terrified them while building,

5 and hired counselors against them to frustrate their purpose,

all the days of Cyrus king of Persia,

even until the reign of Darius king of Persia.

[1] Now when the adversaries of Judah and Benjamin heard that the children

of the captivity builded the temple unto the LORD God of Israel;

[2] Then they came to Zerubbabel, and to the chief of the fathers, and said

unto them, Let us build with you: for we seek your God, as ye do; and we do

sacrifice unto him since the days of Esar-haddon king of Assur, which

brought us up hither.

[3] But Zerubbabel, and Jeshua, and the rest of the chief of the fathers of

Israel, said unto them, Ye have nothing to do with us to build an house unto

our God; but we ourselves together will build unto the LORD God of Israel,

as king Cyrus the king of Persia hath commanded us.

[4] Then the people of the land weakened the hands of the people of Judah,

and troubled them in building,

[5] And hired counsellers against them, to frustrate their purpose, all the

days of Cyrus king of Persia, even until the reign of Darius king of

Persia.

6 (Est 1:1; Da 9:1) In the reign of Ahasuerus, in the beginning of his reign,

they wrote an accusation against the inhabitants of Judah and Jerusalem.

[6] And in the reign of Ahasuerus, in the beginning of his reign, wrote they

unto him an accusation against the inhabitants of Judah and Jerusalem.

The Letter to Artaxerxes

7 (2Ki 18:26; Da 2:4) In the days of Artaxerxes, Bishlam, Mithredath,

Tabeel, and the rest of their companions wrote to Artaxerxes king of Persia,

and the writing of the letter was written in Aramaic,

and interpreted in Aramaic.

8 Rehum the commander and Shimshai the scribe wrote a letter against Jerusalem

to Artaxerxes the king in this manner:

9 (Ezr 5:6; 6:6) (Rehum the commander, Shimshai the scribe, and the rest

of their colleagues, the judges, the officials, the officers, the Persians,

the men of Uruk, and of Babylon, and of Susa-that is, the Elamites-

10 (Ezr 4:17; 4:11) and the rest of the nations whom the great

and noble Ashurbanipal deported and settled in the city of Samaria

and in the rest of the province Beyond the River-and now

11 this is the copy of the letter that they sent to him)-

"To Artaxerxes the king:

"Your servants the men of the province Beyond the River, and so forth.

12 (2Ch 36:13; Ezr 5:3) "May it be known to the king, that the Jews

who came from you have come near to us at Jerusalem

and that they are building the rebellious and evil city,

restoring its walls, and repairing the foundations.

13 (Ezr 7:24; Ne 5:4) "Be it known now to the king, that, if this city

is rebuilt and the walls set up again, then they will not pay toll, tribute,

and custom, and the revenue of the kings will be impacted.

14 Now because we are under obligation to the king's palace, and it was not

appropriate for us to see the king's dishonor, therefore we have sent

and notified the king,

15 so that a search may be made in the book of the records of your fathers.

There you will find in the book of the records and realize that this city

is a rebellious city, and hurtful to kings and provinces, and that they have

incited revolt within it in former times-for which cause this city

was destroyed.

16 We notify the king that if this city is rebuilt and the walls repaired

by this means the portion Beyond the River will no longer be yours."

17 The king sent an answer:

"To Rehum the commander, to Shimshai the scribe, to the rest of their

companions that dwell in Samaria, and to the remainder Beyond the River:

"Peace, and so forth.

18 "The letter which you sent to us has been translated and read before me.

19 (2Ki 18:7) I commanded, and a search has been made, and it is found

that this city has in the past made insurrection against kings,

and that rebellion and revolt have occurred there.

20 (Ge 15:18; 1Ki 4:21) There have also been mighty kings over Jerusalem,

who have ruled over the whole province Beyond the River, and toll,

tribute, and custom was paid to them.

21 Command these men to cease now, so that this city is not built

unless I give the command.

22 Take heed now that you do not fail to do this.

Why should damage increase to the hurt of the king?"

23 Now when the copy of the letter by King Artaxerxes was read before Rehum,

and Shimshai the scribe, and their companions, they went up in haste

to Jerusalem to the Jews and made them cease by force and power.

24 (Hag 1:15) Then the work of the house of God in Jerusalem ceased.

So it ceased until the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia.

[7] And in the days of Artaxerxes wrote Bishlam, Mithredath, Tabeel, and the

rest of their companions, unto Artaxerxes king of Persia; and the writing of

the letter was written in the Syrian tongue, and interpreted in the Syrian

tongue.

[8] Rehum the chancellor and Shimshai the scribe wrote a letter against

Jerusalem to Artaxerxes the king in this sort:

[9] Then wrote Rehum the chancellor, and Shimshai the scribe, and the rest

of their companions; the Dinaites, the Apharsathchites, the Tarpelites, the

Apharsites, the Archevites, the Babylonians, the Susanchites, the Dehavites,

and the Elamites,

[10] And the rest of the nations whom the great and noble Asnappar brought

over, and set in the cities of Samaria, and the rest that are on this side

the river, and at such a time.

[11] This is the copy of the letter that they sent unto him, even unto

Artaxerxes the king; Thy servants the men on this side the river, and at

such a time.

[12] Be it known unto the king, that the Jews which came up from thee to us

are come unto Jerusalem, building the rebellious and the bad city, and have

set up the walls thereof, and joined the foundations.

[13] Be it known now unto the king, that, if this city be builded, and the

walls set up again, then will they not pay toll, tribute, and custom, and so

thou shalt endamage the revenue of the kings.

[14] Now because we have maintenance from the king's palace, and it was not

meet for us to see the king's dishonour, therefore have we sent and

certified the king;

[15] That search may be made in the book of the records of thy fathers: so

shalt thou find in the book of the records, and know that this city is a

rebellious city, and hurtful unto kings and provinces, and that they have

moved sedition within the same of old time: for which cause was this city

destroyed.

[16] We certify the king that, if this city be builded again, and the walls

thereof set up, by this means thou shalt have no portion on this side the

river.

[17] Then sent the king an answer unto Rehum the chancellor, and to Shimshai

the scribe, and to the rest of their companions that dwell in Samaria, and

unto the rest beyond the river, Peace, and at such a time.

[18] The letter which ye sent unto us hath been plainly read before me.

[19] And I commanded, and search hath been made, and it is found that this

city of old time hath made insurrection against kings, and that rebellion

and sedition have been made therein.

[20] There have been mighty kings also over Jerusalem, which have ruled over

all countries beyond the river; and toll, tribute, and custom, was paid unto

them.

[21] Give ye now commandment to cause these men to cease, and that this city

be not builded, until another commandment shall be given from me.

[22] Take heed now that ye fail not to do this: why should damage grow to

the hurt of the kings?

[23] Now when the copy of king Artaxerxes' letter was read before Rehum, and

Shimshai the scribe, and their companions, they went up in haste to

Jerusalem unto the Jews, and made them to cease by force and power.

[24] Then ceased the work of the house of God which is at Jerusalem. So it

ceased unto the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia.

Ezra 5

Restoration of the Temple Resumed

1 Now the prophets, Haggai and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophesied

to the Jews that were in Judah and Jerusalem in the name of the God of Israel

who was over them.

[1] Then the prophets, Haggai the prophet, and Zechariah the son of

Iddo, prophesied unto the Jews that were in Judah and Jerusalem in the

name of the God of Israel, even unto them.

2 (Ezr 3:2; 6:14) Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and Joshua the son

of Jozadak rose up and began to build the house of God which is at Jerusalem,

and the prophets of God were with them, helping them.

[2] Then rose up Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of

Jozadak, and began to build the house of God which is at Jerusalem: and

with them were the prophets of God helping them.

3 (Ezr 6:6; 1:3; 5:9) At the same time Tattenai, governor of the province

Beyond the River, and Shethar-Bozenai and their companions came to them

and said to them, "Who issued a command for you to build this house

and complete this structure?"

4 They also asked them, "What are the names of the men building

this building?"

5 (Ezr 7:6; 7:28) But the eye of their God was on the elders of the Jews,

so that they could not cause them to cease building until a command came

from Darius. Consequently, they sent a letter concerning this matter.

6 (Ezr 4:9) This is a copy of the letter that Tattenai, governor

of the province Beyond the River, and Shethar-Bozenai and his colleagues,

the officials who were in the province Beyond the River,

sent to Darius the king.

7 This is the document that they sent to him,

containing accordingly what follows:

"To Darius the king:

"All peace.

8 "May it be known to the king that we went into the province of Judah,

to the temple of the great God, which is built with great stones, and timber

is laid in the walls, and this work goes diligently,

and prospers in their hands.

9 "Then we questioned those elders and said to them, 'Who issued

a command for you to build this house and complete this structure?'

10 Also, we asked for their names in order to notify you

and to document the names of the men that were their leaders.

11 "Thus they returned us an answer, saying,

" 'We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth

and are rebuilding the temple that was built these many years ago,

which a great king of Israel built and completed.

12 (2Ch 36:16-17; 2Ki 24:2) Afterwards, our fathers provoked the God

of heaven to wrath, so He gave them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar

the king of Babylon, the Chaldean, who destroyed this temple

and carried the people away into Babylon.

13 " 'However, in the first year of Cyrus the king of Babylon, King Cyrus

made a decree to rebuild this house of God.

14 (Ezr 6:5; 5:16) The vessels also of gold and silver of the house of God,

which Nebuchadnezzar took from the temple in Jerusalem and placed them

into the temple of Babylon, those Cyrus the king withdrew from the temple

of Babylon and had them delivered to the one named Sheshbazzar,

whom he had made governor.

15 King Cyrus said to him, "Take these vessels, go, carry them to the temple

in Jerusalem and let the house of God be built its site."

16 (Ezr 3:10; 6:15) " 'So that same Sheshbazzar came and laid the foundation

of the house of God in Jerusalem. Since that time even until now it has been

under construction, yet it is not finished.'

17 (Ezr 4:15) "Now therefore, if it seems good to the king, let there be

search made in the king's treasure house there in Babylon to ascertain

if it is so that a decree was made of Cyrus the king to build this house

of God at Jerusalem. May the king send his pleasure to us concerning

this matter."

[3] At the same time came to them Tatnai, governor on this side the

river, and Shethar-boznai, and their companions, and said thus unto

them, Who hath commanded you to build this house, and to make up this

wall?

[4] Then said we unto them after this manner, What are the names of the

men that make this building?

[5] But the eye of their God was upon the elders of the Jews, that they

could not cause them to cease, till the matter came to Darius: and then

they returned answer by letter concerning this matter.

[6] The copy of the letter that Tatnai, governor on this side the river,

and Shethar-boznai, and his companions the Apharsachites, which were on

this side the river, sent unto Darius the king:

[7] They sent a letter unto him, wherein was written thus; Unto Darius

the king, all peace.

[8] Be it known unto the king, that we went into the province of Judea,

to the house of the great God, which is builded with great stones, and

timber is laid in the walls, and this work goeth fast on, and prospereth

in their hands.

[9] Then asked we those elders, and said unto them thus, Who commanded

you to build this house, and to make up these walls?

[10] We asked their names also, to certify thee, that we might write the

names of the men that were the chief of them.

[11] And thus they returned us answer, saying, We are the servants of the

God of heaven and earth, and build the house that was builded these many

years ago, which a great king of Israel builded and set up.

[12] But after that our fathers had provoked the God of heaven unto wrath,

he gave them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, the

Chaldean, who destroyed this house, and carried the people away into Babylon.

[13] But in the first year of Cyrus the king of Babylon the same king Cyrus

made a decree to build this house of God.

[14] And the vessels also of gold and silver of the house of God, which

Nebuchadnezzar took out of the temple that was in Jerusalem, and brought

them into the temple of Babylon, those did Cyrus the king take out of the

temple of Babylon, and they were delivered unto one, whose name was

Sheshbazzar, whom he had made governor;

[15] And said unto him, Take these vessels, go, carry them into the temple

that is in Jerusalem, and let the house of God be builded in his place.

[16] Then came the same Sheshbazzar, and laid the foundation of the house of

God which is in Jerusalem: and since that time even until now hath it been

in building, and yet it is not finished.

[17] Now therefore, if it seem good to the king, let there be search made in

the king's treasure house, which is there at Babylon, whether it be so, that

a decree was made of Cyrus the king to build this house of God at Jerusalem,

and let the king send his pleasure to us concerning this matter.

Ezra 6

The Decree of Darius

1 (Ezr 5:17; 4:15) Then Darius the king issued a decree

and a search was made in the house of records, where the treasures

were stored in Babylon.

2 At Ecbatana, in the provincial palace of the Medes, a scroll was found,

and in it the following record was written:

3 "In the first year of Cyrus the king, the same Cyrus the king issued

a decree concerning the temple of God at Jerusalem:

"Let the house be rebuilt, the place where they offered sacrifices,

and let the foundations of it be strongly laid, to a height of sixty cubits,

[About 90 feet, or 27 meters.] and a width of sixty cubits.

4 (1Ki 6:36) Let it consist of three rows of great stones and a row

of new timber, and let the expenses be paid from the king's treasury.

5 (Ezr 5:14; 1:7-8) Also, let the golden and silver vessels of the house

of God, which Nebuchadnezzar took from the temple in Jerusalem

and brought to Babylon, be returned and brought back to their places

in the temple in Jerusalem. Put them in the house of God.

6 (Ezr 5:3; 5:6) "Now therefore, Tattenai, governor of the province

Beyond the River, and Shethar-Bozenai, along with your colleagues,

the officials who are in the province Beyond the River,

stay far away from there.

7 Let the work of this house of God alone. Let the governor of the Jews

and the elders of the Jews build this house of God in its place.

8 (Ezr 6:4; 7:15-22) "Moreover, I issue a decree concerning what you shall

do for the elders of these Jews for the rebuilding of this house of God:

"The cost is to be paid to these men, in full and without delay,

from the royal revenue, the tribute of the province Beyond the River.

9 (Lev 1:10) Whatever they need-whether young bulls, rams, and lambs

for the burnt offerings to the God of heaven, or wheat, salt, wine, and oil,

according to the appointment of the priests in Jerusalem-let it be given

them daily without fail,

10 (Ezr 7:23; Jer 29:7) so that they may offer acceptable sacrifices

to the God of heaven, as well as pray for the life of the king

and of his sons.

11 (Da 2:5; 3:29) "Also, I have issued a decree that whoever shall violate

this word, the timber will be pulled down from his house and arranged so that

he may be hanged on it. Thus shall his house be made a dunghill for this.

12 (1Ki 9:3; Dt 12:5) May the God who has caused His name to dwell there

overthrow all kings and people who stretch forth their hand to violate

or destroy this house of God in Jerusalem.

"I, Darius, have issued the decree; so let it be done diligently."

Ezra 6

[1] Then Darius the king made a decree, and search was made in the house of

the rolls, where the treasures were laid up in Babylon.

[2] And there was found at Achmetha, in the palace that is in the province

of the Medes, a roll, and therein was a record thus written:

[3] In the first year of Cyrus the king the same Cyrus the king made a

decree concerning the house of God at Jerusalem, Let the house be builded,

the place where they offered sacrifices, and let the foundations thereof be

strongly laid; the height thereof threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof

threescore cubits;

[4] With three rows of great stones, and a row of new timber: and let

the expences be given out of the king's house:

[5] And also let the golden and silver vessels of the house of God, which

Nebuchadnezzar took forth out of the temple which is at Jerusalem, and

brought unto Babylon, be restored, and brought again unto the temple which

is at Jerusalem, every one to his place, and place them in the house of

God.

[6] Now therefore, Tatnai, governor beyond the river, Shethar-boznai, and

your companions the Apharsachites, which are beyond the river, be ye far

from thence:

[7] Let the work of this house of God alone; let the governor of the Jews

and the elders of the Jews build this house of God in his place.

[8] Moreover I made a decree what ye shall do to the elders of these Jews

for the building of this house of God: that of the king's goods, even of the

tribute beyond the river, forthwith expences be given unto these men,

that they be not hindered.

[9] And that which they have need of, both young bullocks, and rams, and

lambs, for the burnt offerings of the God of heaven, wheat, salt, wine, and

oil, according to the appointment of the priests which are at Jerusalem, let

it be given them day by day without fail:

[10] That they may offer sacrifices of sweet savours unto the God of heaven,

and pray for the life of the king, and of his sons.

[11] Also I have made a decree, that whosoever shall alter this word, let

timber be pulled down from his house, and being set up, let him be hanged

thereon; and let his house be made a dunghill for this.

[12] And the God that hath caused his name to dwell there destroy all kings

and people, that shall put to their hand to alter and to destroy this house

of God which is at Jerusalem. I Darius have made a decree; let it be done

with speed.

Completion and Dedication of the Temple

13 (Ezr 4:9) In compliance, Tattenai, governor of the province Beyond

the River, Shethar-Bozenai, and their companions speedily accomplished

what Darius the king had decreed.

[13] Then Tatnai, governor on this side the river, Shethar-boznai, and their

companions, according to that which Darius the king had sent, so they did

speedily.

Ezra 6:14-22

14 (Ezr 7:1; 4:24-5:2) The rebuilding by the elders of the Jews prospered

through the prophesying of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo.

And they built, and finished it, according to the decree of the God of Israel

and according to the decrees of Cyrus, Darius, and Artaxerxes king of Persia.

15 (Est 3:7) This temple was finished on the third day of the month Adar

during the sixth year of the reign of Darius the king.

16 (1Ki 8:63; 2Ch 7:5) The children of Israel, the priests and the Levites,

and the rest of the descendants of the captivity kept the dedication

of this house of God with joy.

17 (Ezr 8:35) At the dedication of this house of God, they offered

a hundred bulls, two hundred rams, four hundred lambs;

and as a sin offering for all Israel, they offered twelve goats

(according to the number of the tribes of Israel).

18 (Nu 3:6; 1Ch 24:1) They appointed the priests in their divisions

and the Levites in their orders for the service of God in Jerusalem,

as it had been written in the Book of Moses.

[14] And the elders of the Jews builded, and they prospered through the

prophesying of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo. And

they builded, and finished it, according to the commandment of the God of

Israel, and according to the commandment of Cyrus, and Darius, and Artaxerxes

king of Persia.

[15] And this house was finished on the third day of the month Adar, which

was in the sixth year of the reign of Darius the king.

[16] And the children of Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the rest

of the children of the captivity, kept the dedication of this house of God

with joy,

[17] And offered at the dedication of this house of God an hundred bullocks,

two hundred rams, four hundred lambs; and for a sin offering for all Israel,

twelve he goats, according to the number of the tribes of Israel.

[18] And they set the priests in their divisions, and the Levites in their

courses, for the service of God, which is at Jerusalem; as it is written in

the book of Moses.

The Passover

19 The children of the captivity kept the Passover on the fourteenth day

of the first month.

20 (2Ch 35:11; 29:34) Because the priests and the Levites had purified

themselves together, all of them were pure. So, they slaughtered

the Passover lambs for all the descendants of the captivity,

both for their brothers the priests and for themselves.

21 (Ezr 9:11; Ne 9:2) Then they ate together, both the children of Israel

who had come out of captivity and all those who had separated themselves

from the uncleanness of the nations of the land, in order to seek the Lord God

of Israel.

22 (Ezr 1:1; 7:27) With joy they observed the Feast of Unleavened Bread

for seven days because the Lord had made them joyful. He had turned the heart

of the king of Assyria toward them and strengthened their hands in the work

on the house of God, who is the God of Israel.

[19] And the children of the captivity kept the passover upon the fourteenth

day of the first month.

[20] For the priests and the Levites were purified together, all of them

were pure, and killed the passover for all the children of the captivity,

and for their brethren the priests, and for themselves.

[21] And the children of Israel, which were come again out of captivity, and

all such as had separated themselves unto them from the filthiness of the

heathen of the land, to seek the LORD God of Israel, did eat,

[22] And kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy: for the

LORD had made them joyful, and turned the heart of the king of Assyria unto

them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of

Israel.

Psalms 137

1 By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down and wept

when we remembered Zion.

2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) We hung our harps

upon the poplars.

3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) For there our captors made us sing

and our tormentors made us entertain,

saying, "Sing us one of the songs of Zion."

4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) How shall we sing the song of the Lord

in a foreign land?

5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) If I forget you, O Jerusalem,

let my right hand forget its skill.

6 (2Sa 17:22; Dt 3:8-9) If I do not remember you,

let my tongue stick to the roof of my mouth,

if I do not have Jerusalem

as my highest joy.

7 (Ps 88:7; Jnh 2:3) Remember, O Lord, the people of Edom

in the day of Jerusalem,

who said, "Raze it, raze it,

down to its foundations."

8 (Job 35:10; Ps 63:6) O daughter of Babylon, who is to be destroyed,

blessed is the one who rewards you

as you have done to us.

9 (Ps 38:6; 18:2) Blessed is the one who takes

and dashes your little ones against the rocks.

Psalms 137

[1] By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we

remembered Zion.

[2] We hanged our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof.

[3] For there they that carried us away captive required of us a song; and

they that wasted us required of us mirth, saying, Sing us one of the songs

of Zion.

[4] How shall we sing the LORD's song in a strange land?

[5] If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning.

[6] If I do not remember thee, let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth;

if I prefer not Jerusalem above my chief joy.

[7] Remember, O LORD, the children of Edom in the day of Jerusalem; who

said, Rase it, rase it, even to the foundation thereof.

[8] O daughter of Babylon, who art to be destroyed; happy shall he be, that

rewardeth thee as thou hast served us.

[9] Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the

stones.

1 Corinthians 15:12-22

12 (Ac 23:8; 2Ti 2:18) Now if Christ is preached that He rose from the dead,

how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?

13 (1Th 4:14) If there is no resurrection of the dead,

then Christ has not risen.

14 If Christ has not risen, then our preaching is vain,

and your faith is also vain.

15 (Ac 2:24) Yes, and we would then be found false witnesses of God,

because we have testified that God raised up Christ, whom He did not

raise up, if in fact the dead do not rise.

16 For if the dead do not rise, then Christ has not been raised.

17 (Ro 4:25) If Christ is not raised, your faith is vain;

you are still in your sins.

18 (Rev 14:13; 1Co 15:6) Then they also who have fallen asleep

in Christ have perished.

19 (2Ti 3:12) If in this life only we have hope in Christ,

we are of all men most miserable.

20 (Ac 26:23; 1Co 15:23) But now is Christ risen from the dead

and become the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep.

21 (Jn 11:25; Ro 6:23) For since death came by man, by man came

also the resurrection of the dead.

22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

[12] Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some

among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?

[13] But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen:

[14] And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith

is also vain.

[15] Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified

of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the

dead rise not.

[16] For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised:

[17] And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your

sins.

[18] Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished.

[19] If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most

miserable.

[20] But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of

them that slept.

[21] For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the

dead.

[22] For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

Even as country music legend Johnny Cash was approaching death, he was

determined to keep making music. His final album, American VI: Ain't No Grave,

was recorded in the final months of his life. The title song, Cash's version

of a hymn by Claude Ely, gives insight into his final thoughts as we hear him

sing of his hope of the resurrection. His famously deep voice, though weakened

by his declining health, declares a powerful testimony of faith.

Johnny's hope wasn't simply in the fact that Jesus was resurrected on Easter

Sunday morning; he believed that one day his own physical body would also

be resurrected, and he'd rise again.

It’s an important truth to affirm because even in the days of the apostle

Paul, people denied a future physical resurrection. Paul strongly critiqued

their argument when he wrote, "If there is no resurrection of the dead, then

not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, our

preaching is useless and so is your faith" (1 Corinthians 15:13-14).

Just as the grave couldn't hold Jesus' body, one day all those who have faith

that He was resurrected "will be made alive" (v. 22). And in our resurrected

bodies, we'll enjoy all eternity with Him on a new earth. That's reason to

sing!

Week 5 Rejoice in Grace - Day 1 Call to the Lord - 2 Samuel 22:3-4

3 (Ge 15:1; Ps 9:9) the God of my strength, in whom I will trust;

my shield and the horn of my salvation,

my fortress and my sanctuary;

my Savior, You save me from violence.

4 (Ps 48:1; 96:4) I call upon the Lord, who is praiseworthy,

and I am saved from my enemies.

3 The God of my rock; in him will I trust:

He is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge,

My saviour; thou savest me from violence.

4 I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised:

So shall I be saved from mine enemies.

In the old Days of Television Western, we could always tell who the enemy was.

The bad guys wore black hats; the evil villain had a scar across

his cheek or a patch over one eye. But real life is

not quite so simple . Enemies come in many forms, and often are not easy to

recognise. Sin is an enemy; even those we love can seek

to undermine our faith;

modern materialism and distorted values lead us away from biblical principles.

These enemies may not seek our death in a physical sense,

but their influence results in spiritual death or, at the very least,

immaturity.

Yet God promises to rescue us from our enemies. David describes the Lord as a

"rock", a "shield", a "stronghold", and a "refuge". God provides a stable

foundation for our faith; he products us from the attacks of the enemy;

he offers a place of rest in battle.

Our battles are usually not physical ones, but rather spiritual

and emotional wars.

We struggle with difficult relationships, the burdens of the past,

the subtle accusations of the devil.

But these enemies can be overcome. David says,

"I call to the Lord, who is worthy of praise" .

When we turn to the Lord, trust his Word, acknowledge his

worthiness, we put our own problems and difficulties in perspective.

We see that God is able to rescue us, and has promised to do so.

And as we respond to his grace by focusing

on him, we abandon trust in ourselves and allow him to do what he promised.

4) From Prosperity Promises - Kenneth Copeland

Joshua 1:5

5 (Dt 7:24; 31:6-8) No man will be able to stand against

you all the days of your life.

As I was with Moses, I will be with you.

I will not abandon you. I will not leave you.

5 There shall not any man be able to stand before

thee all the days of thy life:

as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee:

I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

5) From a Book called God's Promises for you:

God's Help in Times of Temptation

1 Cor 10:1-13

1 Corinthians 10

Warning Against Idolatry

1 (Ex 14:29; Ps 66:6) I would not want you to be unaware that

all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea,

2 and all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea;

3 (Ex 16:35; Dt 8:3) all ate the same spiritual food;

4 (Ex 17:6; Nu 20:11) and all drank the same spiritual drink,

for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them,

and that Rock was Christ.

5 (Heb 3:17; Jude 1:5) But with many of them God was not well pleased,

and they were overthrown in the wilderness.

6 (Nu 11:4; 1Co 10:11) Now these things were our examples to the intent

that we should not lust after evil things as they lusted.

7 (Ex 32:19; 32:4) Neither be idolaters as were some of them.

As it is written,

"The people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to revel." (Ex 32:6. )

8 (Nu 25:1-9; 1Co 6:18) Neither let us commit sexual immorality as some

of them committed, when 23000 fell in one day.

9 (Nu 21:5-6; Ex 17:2) Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them

also tempted and were destroyed by serpents.

10 (Ex 12:23; Nu 16:41) Neither murmur, as some of them also murmured

and were destroyed by the destroyer.

11 (Ro 13:11) Now all these things happened to them for examples.

They are written as an admonition to us,

upon whom the end of the ages has come.

12 (Ro 11:20) Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed,

lest he fall.

13 (1Co 1:9; 2Pe 2:9) No temptation has taken you except what is common

to man. God is faithful, and He will not permit you to be tempted above

what you can endure, but will with the temptation also make a way

to escape, that you may be able to bear it.

1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all

our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;

2 and were all baptised unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;

3 and did all eat the same spiritual meat;

4 and did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that

spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.

5 But with many of them God was not well pleased:

for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust

after evil things, as they also lusted.

7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written,

The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.

8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed,

and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.

9 Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted,

and were destroyed of serpents.

10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured,

and were destroyed of the destroyer.

11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples:

and they are written for our admonition,

upon whom the ends of the world are come.

12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man:

but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted

above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also

make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Remember God's promises when You pray

The Lord's prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

9 "Therefore pray in this manner:

Our Father who is in heaven,

hallowed be Your name.

10 (Mt 3:2; 4:17) Your kingdom come;

Amen.

Muslim population (est.) 14629

With 6 of the Nova Scotia's 10 universities located in Halifax, there is

a high concentration of Muslin international students in the area,

a harvest field in itself.

Pray for Nova Scotia and her Muslim populations

'that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;

your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

your young men shall see visions,

and your old men shall dream dreams.'

And it gives light to all who are in the

house."

- Pray for opportunities to show the love of Christ to Muslims around you

- Pray for, and offer generous hospitality to, those you know who are serving

ChatGPT reviews Doctor Who - Fear Her

Here’s a review of *Doctor Who: Fear Her*, keeping to 59 characters per line and between 900-1000 words:

---

Fear Her is an episode set in the near future, during the 2012 London Olympics. The Tenth Doctor and Rose land in a suburban neighborhood where children are mysteriously disappearing. The story centers on Chloe Webber, a young girl with the ability to trap people in her drawings due to her connection with an alien entity called the Isolus. While the premise holds potential, the episode struggles with execution and falls short in several areas.

The opening scenes of Fear Her set the tone for a more grounded, domestic story compared to the high-stakes adventures that usually characterize *Doctor Who*. The focus on an ordinary neighborhood with strange events occurring beneath the surface has echoes of classic Doctor Who tropes. However, the episode lacks the tension needed to make this small-scale setting feel truly eerie. The suburban backdrop doesn’t quite manage to build a sense of threat, and the disappearances feel more like a puzzle than a source of fear.

The central concept of a child using her drawings to control the world around her is an intriguing one, but it doesn’t fully develop into something emotionally or narratively satisfying. Chloe’s ability stems from her loneliness and trauma, having been affected by the loss of her father and the isolation she feels as a result. The emotional weight of this theme is present but not deeply explored, leaving the audience with a somewhat superficial understanding of Chloe’s struggles. The potential for a more profound exploration of childhood trauma is there but remains underutilized.

Chloe’s connection to the Isolus, an alien creature that feeds on love and companionship, is the driving force behind the plot. The Isolus has become separated from its family and bonds with Chloe out of mutual loneliness. While this idea has merit, the Isolus itself is a fairly standard alien antagonist without much complexity. The episode attempts to evoke sympathy for the creature, but its motives are not given enough depth for it to feel like a fully realized character.

Rose plays a significant role in this episode, stepping up as the Doctor’s equal in solving the mystery. Her interactions with Chloe and her mother, Trish, show her compassionate side, and she is instrumental in figuring out how to stop the Isolus. However, despite Rose’s proactive role, the episode lacks the usual chemistry and energy between her and the Doctor. The absence of the usual banter and dynamic teamwork between the two characters weakens the overall impact of the story.

The Doctor, meanwhile, spends much of the episode in a more passive role, as he is trapped inside a drawing for a significant portion of the climax. This leaves Rose to carry the weight of the action, which is commendable, but it also means the Doctor is sidelined during key moments. This diminishes the sense of urgency, as the Doctor’s involvement is often crucial to heightening the stakes in an episode.

The pacing of Fear Her is uneven, with long stretches of dialogue and exposition that slow down the narrative. While some of this exposition is necessary to explain Chloe’s abilities and the nature of the Isolus, it often feels repetitive. The episode could have benefitted from a more streamlined approach to its storytelling, cutting some of the slower moments in favor of building more suspense.

The climax, where the Doctor uses the Olympic torch to reignite the Isolus' pod and send it back to its family, is one of the more whimsical resolutions in the Doctor Who canon. While this moment ties into the Olympic setting of the episode, it feels a bit too convenient and lacks the emotional punch that other resolutions in the series often have. The symbolism of the torch and the global unity represented by the Olympics is clear, but it doesn’t quite land as a powerful moment in the story.

One of the more problematic aspects of Fear Her is the portrayal of Chloe’s father, who is implied to have been abusive. His presence as a spectral figure in Chloe’s drawings is disturbing, but the episode handles this subplot with a lightness that feels out of place. The implications of Chloe’s trauma are mentioned but not fully addressed, and the resolution of this subplot is unsatisfying, as it reduces a serious issue to a mere plot device.

The production values of the episode are serviceable, but there is nothing particularly standout about the direction or design. The depiction of the drawings coming to life is visually interesting but doesn’t create the sense of awe or fear that it could have. The use of the Olympic setting, while a unique choice, doesn’t contribute much to the story beyond providing a backdrop for the final moments.

In conclusion, Fear Her is an episode that had the potential to explore deeper emotional and psychological themes but ultimately falls short. Its smaller-scale story and focus on a single family’s trauma could have been a strength, but the episode lacks the depth and tension needed to make these elements resonate. While there are some good ideas and moments, particularly Rose’s compassionate involvement and the concept of loneliness as a driving force, the episode doesn’t leave a lasting impact.

---

Rating: 5.5/10

Fear Her is an ambitious but flawed episode, struggling with uneven pacing, an underdeveloped antagonist, and missed opportunities for emotional depth. While it’s not without its merits, including a strong showing from Rose and a unique premise, it ultimately lacks the intensity and complexity that makes for a standout Doctor Who story.

## Doctor Who: Battlefield - A Mixed Bag with Potential

Based on the information from [Chakoteya.net](http://www.chakoteya.net/DoctorWho/26-1.htm), Doctor Who: Battlefield seems to be a story with interesting elements but some flaws, particularly as the final story of the classic series. Here's a breakdown:

**Strengths:**

**Genre Mashup:** The story blends fantasy elements with science fiction, offering a unique blend of genres and settings.

**Returning Favorites:** The return of Brigadier Lethbridge Stewart adds a nostalgic element for fans of the classic series.

**King Arthur Twist:** The inclusion of a time-twisted version of King Arthur and his Knights adds a creative twist to the narrative.

**Weaknesses:**

**Convoluted Plot:** The story can be complex and difficult to follow, with multiple factions and timelines vying for power.

**Uneven Pacing:** Reviews mention the pacing is inconsistent, with some parts dragging and others feeling rushed.

**Overacting:** The acting of some guest stars, particularly those portraying the villains, might come across as exaggerated or melodramatic.

**Weak Companion Role:** Ace, the Doctor's companion, seems to have a less prominent and impactful role in this story.

**Series Finale:** As the final story of the classic series, Battlefield might not offer a satisfying conclusion for all fans.

**Overall:**

Battlefield seems like a story with interesting ideas but uneven execution. While it boasts a genre-bending concept and returning characters, the convoluted plot, uneven pacing, and acting choices might hold it back for some viewers. However, for fans of classic Doctor Who who enjoy a mix of fantasy and sci-fi, Battlefield could still be an enjoyable watch.

**Rating:** Here are two options depending on your viewing preferences:

**For fans who enjoy genre mashups, returning characters, and a unique historical twist:** 6.5 out of 10 (recognizes the entertainment value for some viewers despite the flaws)

**For fans who prioritize a clear and well-paced narrative, strong companion involvement, and a satisfying series finale:** 4 out of 10 (highlights the weaknesses in plot, pacing, acting, and companion role)

**Additional Notes:**

Battlefield is considered the final story of the classic Doctor Who series, which went on hiatus for several years before its revival in 2005.

If you're new to Doctor Who, it might be better to start with a story from the revived series to get a sense of the show's modern format and storytelling.

The Proclamation of Cyrus

2Ch 36:22-23

1 (Jer 29:10; 2Ch 36:22-23) Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia,

that the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled,

the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia,

so that he issued a proclamation throughout all his kingdom,

and also put it in writing, saying,

2 (Isa 45:12-13) "Thus says Cyrus king of Persia:

"The Lord God of heaven has given me all the kingdoms of the earth,

and He has charged me to build Him a house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah.

3 (Da 6:26) Whoever there is among you of all His people, may his God be

with him, and may he go to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house

of the Lord God of Israel. He is the God who is in Jerusalem.

4 Whoever remains in any place where he sojourns, let the men of his place

help him with silver, gold, goods, and animals, along with voluntary gifts

for the house of God in Jerusalem."

5 (Ezr 1:1; Php 2:13) Then the heads of the households of Judah and Benjamin,

and the Levitical priests, with all those whose spirits God had stirred,

rose up to go up to build the house of the Lord in Jerusalem.

6 So everyone all around them strengthened their hands

with vessels of silver, gold, goods, animals, and precious things,

besides all that was given voluntarily.

7 (2Ki 24:13; 2Ch 36:7) Also Cyrus the king brought forth the vessels

of the house of the Lord, which Nebuchadnezzar had brought from Jerusalem

and had put in the house of his gods.

8 (Ezr 5:14) Cyrus king of Persia even brought forth more for them,

by the hand of Mithredath the treasurer and had them numbered

for Sheshbazzar, who was the prince of Judah.

9 This is the number of them: 30 containers of gold, 1000 containers

of silver, and 29 knives.

10 There were also 30 smaller bowls of gold, 410 smaller bowls of silver

(of lesser value), and 1000 other various containers.

11 All the articles of gold and silver were 5400 . All these did Sheshbazzar

bring up, when the exiles were brought from Babylon to Jerusalem.

Ezra 1

[1] Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD

by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit

of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his

kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,

[2] Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The LORD God of heaven hath given me

all the kingdoms of the earth; and he hath charged me to build him an house

at Jerusalem, which is in Judah.

[3] Who is there among you of all his people? his God be with him, and let

him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of the LORD

God of Israel, (he is the God,) which is in Jerusalem.

[4] And whosoever remaineth in any place where he sojourneth, let the men of

his place help him with silver, and with gold, and with goods, and with

beasts, beside the freewill offering for the house of God that is in

Jerusalem.

[5] Then rose up the chief of the fathers of Judah and Benjamin, and the

priests, and the Levites, with all them whose spirit God had raised, to go

up to build the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem.

[6] And all they that were about them strengthened their hands with vessels

of silver, with gold, with goods, and with beasts, and with precious things,

beside all that was willingly offered.

[7] Also Cyrus the king brought forth the vessels of the house of the LORD,

which Nebuchadnezzar had brought forth out of Jerusalem, and had put them in

the house of his gods;

[8] Even those did Cyrus king of Persia bring forth by the hand of

Mithredath the treasurer, and numbered them unto Sheshbazzar, the prince of

Judah.

[9] And this is the number of them: thirty chargers of gold, a thousand

chargers of silver, nine and twenty knives,

[10] Thirty basons of gold, silver basons of a second sort four hundred and

ten, and other vessels a thousand.

[11] All the vessels of gold and of silver were five thousand and four

hundred. All these did Sheshbazzar bring up with them of the captivity that

were brought up from Babylon unto Jerusalem.

Each returned to his own city.

44 the sons of Keros, the sons of Siaha, the sons of Padon,

45 the sons of Lebanah, the sons of Hagabah, the sons of Akkub,

46 the sons of Hagab, the sons of Shalmai, the sons of Hanan,

47 the sons of Giddel, the sons of Gahar, the sons of Reaiah,

48 the sons of Rezin, the sons of Nekoda, the sons of Gazzam,

49 the sons of Uzza, the sons of Paseah, the sons of Besai,

50 the sons of Asnah, the sons of Meunim, the sons of Nephusim,

51 the sons of Bakbuk, the sons of Hakupha, the sons of Harhur,

52 the sons of Bazluth, the sons of Mehida, the sons of Harsha,

53 the sons of Barkos, the sons of Sisera, the sons of Temah,

54 the sons of Neziah, the sons of Hatipha.

55 (1Ki 9:21) The sons of Solomon's servants were:

the sons of Sotai, the sons of Hassophereth, the sons of Peruda,

56 the sons of Jaala, the sons of Darkon, the sons of Giddel,

57 (Ne 7:59) the sons of Shephatiah, the sons of Hattil,

the sons of Pokereth-Hazzebaim, the sons of Ami.

58 (1Ki 9:21; 1Ch 9:2) All those devoted to the temple as servants

and the children of Solomon's servants were 392.

59 These were the ones who came up from Tel Melah, Tel Harsha, Kerub,

Addon, and Immer; but they could not prove their father's house

or their descent, whether they were of Israel:

60 the sons of Delaiah, the sons of Tobiah, and the sons of Nekoda-652;

61 (2Sa 17:27; 1Ki 2:7) and of the sons of the priests:

the sons of Hobaiah, the sons of Hakkoz, and the sons of Barzillai

(whose ancestor married one of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite

and was thereafter called by their name).

62 (Nu 3:10) These sought their records in the genealogy register,

but they were not found. Therefore, they were disqualified

(as polluted) from the priesthood.

63 (Ex 28:30; Lev 2:3) The governor advised them not to eat of the most

holy things until a priest consulted with the Urim and Thummim.

64 The whole congregation together was 42 360,\

65 (2Sa 19:35) besides their male and female servants

(these numbered 7337); they also had two hundred singing men and women.

66 Their horses numbered seven hundred and thirty-six; their mules,

two hundred and forty-five;

67 their camels, four hundred and thirty-five; and their donkeys,

six thousand seven hundred and twenty.

68 As some of the heads of households came to the house of the Lord

in Jerusalem, they volunteered to erect the foundations for the house of God.

69 (Ezr 8:25-34) They gave after their ability to the treasure of the work

6100 drachmas [About 1,100 pounds, or 500 kilograms.] of gold,

five thousand pounds [About 3 tons, or 2.8 metric tons.] of silver,

and one hundred priestly garments.

70 (Ne 7:73) So the priests and the Levites, along with some of the people,

the singers, the porters, and those donated as temple servants,

lived in their cities, with the result that all Israel resettled

in their cities.

[58] All the Nethinims, and the children of Solomon's servants, were three

hundred ninety and two.

[59] And these were they which went up from Tel-melah, Tel-harsa, Cherub,

[64] The whole congregation together was forty and two thousand three

hundred and threescore,

[65] Beside their servants and their maids, of whom there were seven

and one thousand drams of gold, and five thousand pound of silver, and one

hundred priests' garments.

[70] So the priests, and the Levites, and some of the people, and the

Israel in their cities.

Ezra 3

Rebuilding the Altar

1 (Lev 23:24) When the seventh month had come, the children of Israel

had resettled in their cities, and the people gathered themselves together,

as one man, to Jerusalem.

2 (1Ch 3:17; Ezr 2:2) Then Joshua the son of Jozadak and his brothers

the priests stood up, along with Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel

and his brothers, and they built the altar of the God of Israel in order

to offer burnt offerings on it, as it had been written in the Law of Moses,

the man of God.

3 (Nu 28:2-8; Ezr 4:4) They set the altar upon its foundations and,

because they were living in fear of some of the peoples of the region,

they offered burnt offerings on it to the Lord-morning and evening.

4 (Ex 23:16; Nu 29:12-38) They also kept the Feast of Tabernacles,

as it had been written, and offered the daily burnt offerings

in accordance with the daily schedule, according to each day's custom.

5 (Nu 29:39) Thereafter, observance of the burnt offering became a perpetual

sacrifice with regard to the New Moon sacrifices and all of the appointed

feasts of the Lord that had been consecrated, and all of the voluntary

freewill offerings to the Lord. 6From the first day of the seventh month

they had begun to offer burnt offerings unto the Lord,

but the foundation of the temple of the Lord was not yet laid.

[1] And when the seventh month was come, and the children of Israel were in

the cities, the people gathered themselves together as one man to Jerusalem.

[2] Then stood up Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brethren the priests,

and Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and his brethren, and builded the altar

of the God of Israel, to offer burnt offerings thereon, as it is written in

the law of Moses the man of God.

[3] And they set the altar upon his bases; for fear was upon them because of

the people of those countries: and they offered burnt offerings thereon unto

the LORD, even burnt offerings morning and evening.

[4] They kept also the feast of tabernacles, as it is written, and offered

the daily burnt offerings by number, according to the custom, as the duty of

every day required;

[5] And afterward offered the continual burnt offering, both of the new

moons, and of all the set feasts of the LORD that were consecrated, and of

every one that willingly offered a freewill offering unto the LORD.

[6] From the first day of the seventh month began they to offer burnt

offerings unto the LORD. But the foundation of the temple of the LORD was

not yet laid.

Rebuilding the Temple

7 (1Ki 5:6; Ac 9:36) They gave money to the masons and carpenters,

and food, drink, and oil to the people of Sidon and to the people of Tyre

so that they would bring cedar trees from Lebanon to the sea, at Joppa,

according to the grant they had from Cyrus king of Persia.

8 Now in the second month of the second year of their coming to the house

of God in Jerusalem, Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, Joshua the son

of Jozadak, along with the remnant of their brothers the Levitical priests

and all who had come out of captivity back to Jerusalem, began work

and appointed the Levites twenty years old and older to supervise

the work on the house of the Lord.

9 (Ezr 2:40) Then Joshua with his sons and brothers, and Kadmiel

with his sons, who are the sons of Judah, along with the sons of Henadad

with their sons and their brothers-all Levites-stood together to supervise

the workers on the house of God.

10 (Zec 4:10) When the builders laid the foundation of the temple

of the Lord, the priests in their apparel stood with trumpets and,

from the Levites, the sons of Asaph stood with cymbals to praise the Lord,

following the example of David king of Israel.

11 (1Ch 16:34; 16:41) They sang responsively, praising

and giving thanks unto the Lord,

"For He is good, for His mercy endures forever toward Israel."

And all the people responded with a great shout

when they praised the Lord, because the foundation of the house of the Lord

was laid.

12 (Hag 2:3) Now many of the older Levitical priests and chiefs

of the fathers' households who had seen the first temple wept

with a loud voice as the foundation of this temple was laid

before their eyes, though many others shouted exuberantly for joy.

13 As a result, the people could not distinguish the noise

of the shout of joy from the noise of the weeping of the people

since the people had raised such a loud noise that could be heard

from afar off.

[7] They gave money also unto the masons, and to the carpenters; and meat,

and drink, and oil, unto them of Zidon, and to them of Tyre, to bring cedar

trees from Lebanon to the sea of Joppa, according to the grant that they had

of Cyrus king of Persia.

[8] Now in the second year of their coming unto the house of God at

Jerusalem, in the second month, began Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and

Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and the remnant of their brethren the priests and

the Levites, and all they that were come out of the captivity unto

Jerusalem; and appointed the Levites, from twenty years old and upward, to

set forward the work of the house of the LORD.

[9] Then stood Jeshua with his sons and his brethren, Kadmiel and his sons,

the sons of Judah, together, to set forward the workmen in the house of God:

the sons of Henadad, with their sons and their brethren the Levites.

[10] And when the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the LORD,

they set the priests in their apparel with trumpets, and the Levites the

sons of Asaph with cymbals, to praise the LORD, after the ordinance of David

king of Israel.

[11] And they sang together by course in praising and giving thanks unto the

LORD; because he is good, for his mercy endureth for ever toward Israel. And

all the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised the LORD,

because the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid.

[12] But many of the priests and Levites and chief of the fathers, who were

ancient men, that had seen the first house, when the foundation of this

house was laid before their eyes, wept with a loud voice; and many shouted

aloud for joy:

[13] So that the people could not discern the noise of the shout of joy from

the noise of the weeping of the people: for the people shouted with a loud

shout, and the noise was heard afar off.

The New Life in Christ

2 Kings 5

Naaman Healed of Leprosy

1 (Lk 4:27) Now Naaman, captain of the army of the king of Aram,

was a great man before his master and held favor because by him the Lord had

given deliverance to Aram. He was also a mighty warrior, but he had leprosy.

2 (2Ki 6:23; 13:20) The Arameans had gone out raiding and had taken captive

a little girl from the land of Israel, and she waited on the wife of Naaman.

3 She said to her mistress, "If only my lord were before the prophet who is

in Samaria! Then he would take away his leprosy from him."

9 So Naaman came with his horses and chariot and stood at the entrance

to the house of Elisha.

10 (Jn 9:7; Lev 14:7) Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying,

"Go and wash seven times in the Jordan, and your flesh will be returned

and cleansed."

11 But Naaman became angry and went away and said to himself,

"Surely he could have come out, and stood and called on the name

of the Lord his God, and waved his hand over the infected area,

and taken away the leprosy.

12 Are not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters

of Israel? Could I not wash in them and be clean?" So he turned and went away

in a rage.

13 (2Ki 6:21; 2:12) But his servants approached and spoke to him,

"My father, if the prophet had told you to do some great thing, would you not

have done it? How much more when he said to you, 'Wash and be clean'?"

14 (Job 33:25; Lk 4:27) So he went down and dipped himself in the Jordan

seven times, according to the word of the man of God, and his flesh returned

like the flesh of a little boy, and he was clean.

[1] Now Naaman, captain of the host of the king of Syria, was a great man

with his master, and honourable, because by him the LORD had given

deliverance unto Syria: he was also a mighty man in valour, but he was a

leper.

[2] And the Syrians had gone out by companies, and had brought away captive

out of the land of Israel a little maid; and she waited on Naaman's wife.

[3] And she said unto her mistress, Would God my lord were with the prophet

that is in Samaria! for he would recover him of his leprosy.

[9] So Naaman came with his horses and with his chariot, and stood at the

door of the house of Elisha.

[10] And Elisha sent a messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in the Jordan

seven times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean.

[11] But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He

will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his

God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper.

[12] Are not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the

waters of Israel? may I not wash in them, and be clean? So he turned and

went away in a rage.

[13] And his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said, My father, if

the prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest thou not have done

it? how much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean?

[14] Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according

to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the

flesh of a little child, and he was clean.

Jocelyn's bestselling dish at her food stall was her congee. She'd stir the

rice porridge very carefully until it had a smooth consistency. So, she was

startled when a regular customer said, "Your congee tastes different.

The texture isn't as fine."

Jocelyn's new assistant had prepared it this time and explained why it was

different: "I didn't stir it as long as the recipe said since that's how I do

it at home. I also added more sesame oil. In my opinion, it tastes better that

way." She had decided to ignore the recipe and do it her way instead.

This is how I sometimes respond to God's instructions. Instead of fully

obeying His commands as given in Scripture, I subject them to my opinions and

proceed my way.

Naaman, the commander of the Syrian army, was on the verge of making a similar

mistake. On receiving God's instruction through the prophet Elisha to wash

himself in the Jordan so his leprosy would be healed, the proud soldier got

angry. He had his own expectations for how his need ought to be addressed,

believing his opinion was superior to God's command (2 Kings 5:11-12). His

servants, however, convinced him to listen to Elisha's words (v. 13). As a

result, Naaman was healed.

When we do things God's way, we experience a peace that's indescribable.

Let's work with Him in fulfilling His purposes.

How do you allow your opinions to compromise your obedience to God?

How does this affect His work in your life?

Dear God, please help me to obey You in full,

Week 4 - The Blessings of Grace Day 7 God's Bulldozer - Luke 3:5-6

5 (Isa 40:4; 42:16) Every valley shall be filled

and every mountain and hill shall be brought low;

and the crooked shall be made straight

and the rough ways shall be made smooth;

6 (Isa 40:5; 52:10) and all flesh shall see the salvation of God.

5 Every valley shall be filled,

And every mountain and hill shall be brought low;

And the crooked shall be made straight,

And the rough ways shall be made smooth;

6 And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.

When a new highway is being constructed, the roads crew work hard

in preparing for the new surface to be laid. Giant bulldozers cut through

the hillsides, moving earth, leveling, filling, evening the path out where

the roadway will run. When the work is first begun, if often looks like chaos:

and even after the highway begins to take shape, the land is still ugly,

scarred by the unsightly gashes cut through the landscape. Yet after

the work is completed and the grass and trees are replanted, we forget

the temporary upheaval and see only the

beauty of the land and the convenience of the new roadway.

In Luke 3:5-6, John the Baptist presents a prophecy of the coming of Christ,

a prophecy quoted from Isaiah 40:3-5 . The prophecy speaks of the preparation

of the world for the coming Messiah, but is also applies to the preparation

of the individual heart to receive him.

Sometimes, the Holy Spirit must do major work in our hearts to prepare us for

the coming of Christ into our live. Like a bulldozer, he brings down the

mountains of pride in our lives. He fill the empty places , corrects

the crooked, grades down the rough edges of our hearts.

Often this is not pleasant work. We prefer to maintain the rugged landscape

of Self, and we do not like the ugly scars that are left after the bulldozer

has done its job.

But if we submit to the Spirit's "Construction work" in us, the way will be

paved for the Lord to enter into our lives, and others will see in us,

the way be paved for the Lord to enter into our lives, and other will see

in us the glory and salvation of our God.

Application

a) What "construction work" has to Holy Spirit done in me?

b) What restoration has taken place because of that work?

c) How do today's verses help me put in perspective the work

God still want to do in me?

4) From Prosperity Promises - Kenneth Copeland

Mark 4:20-25

20 (Mk 4:8; Jn 15:4-5) "Still others are seed sown on good ground,

those who hear the word, and receive it, and bear fruit:

thirty, sixty, or a hundred times as much."

A Light Under a Basket

Lk 8:16-18

21 (Mt 5:15; Lk 8:16) He said to them, "Is a candle brought to be put

under a basket or under a bed and not to be set on a candlestick?

22 (Lk 8:17) For there is nothing hidden except to be revealed;

neither is anything kept secret except to be proclaimed.

23 (Mk 4:9; Mt 11:15)If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear."

24 (Mt 7:2) He said to them, "Take heed what you hear.

The measure you give will be measured for you,

and to you who hear will more be given.

25 (Mt 13:12; Lk 8:18) For to him who has will more be given.

And from him who has not will be taken, even what he has."

20 And these are they which are sown on good ground;

such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit,

some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.

21 And he said unto them, Is a candle brought to be put

under a bushel, or under a bed? and not to be set on a candlestick?

22 For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested;

neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad.

23 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.

24 And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete,

it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.

25 For he that hath, to him shall be given:

and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.

God's Help in Times of Temptation

Hebrews 4:14-16

Jesus the Great High Priest

14 (Heb 6:20; 1:2-3) Since then we have a great High Priest

Who has passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God,

let us hold firmly to our confession.

15 (2Co 5:21; Jn 8:46) For we do not have a High Priest

who cannot sympathise with our weaknesses,

but One who was in every sense tempted like we are, yet without sin.

16 (Eph 3:12; Php 4:6-7) Let us then come with confidence

to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy

and find grace to help in time of need.

14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest,

that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God,

let us hold fast our profession.

15 For we have not an high priest

which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities;

but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

16 Let us therefore come boldly

unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy,

and find grace to help in time of need.

The Lord's prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

9 "Therefore pray in this manner:

Our Father who is in heaven,

hallowed be Your name.

10 (Mt 3:2; 4:17) Your kingdom come;

Amen.

'that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;

your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

your young men shall see visions,

and your old men shall dream dreams.'

And it gives light to all who are in the

house."

ChatPGT reviews Doctor Who Love and Monsters

Here’s a review of *Doctor Who: Love & Monsters*, keeping to 59 characters per line and between 900-1000 words:

---

Love & Monsters is a unique and polarizing episode from the second series of *Doctor Who*. Told from the perspective of Elton Pope, a regular man who becomes fascinated with the Doctor, it shifts the focus away from the Time Lord and instead examines how his presence affects ordinary people. The episode is framed as Elton's recounting of his experiences with a group of fellow Doctor-enthusiasts, known as LINDA (London Investigation 'N' Detective Agency), and the disastrous encounter they have with an alien being known as the Abzorbaloff.

The episode begins with Elton recalling his childhood encounter with the Doctor, a fleeting but life-changing moment. As an adult, Elton stumbles upon a community of people who, like him, are obsessed with the Doctor. They form a close-knit group that initially serves as a support network and social circle. These early scenes of LINDA are charming and heartwarming, showing how people can bond over shared mysteries and interests. The group’s camaraderie provides a stark contrast to the darker events that follow, as their collective quest for answers soon takes a more sinister turn.

The arrival of Victor Kennedy, an enigmatic and domineering figure, marks a shift in the tone of the episode. Kennedy takes control of LINDA, turning the group’s focus from socializing to actively hunting the Doctor. The dynamic within LINDA quickly deteriorates under his leadership, and it becomes clear that Kennedy has an ulterior motive. The group's innocence is gradually corrupted, and the once happy gatherings are replaced with tension and fear. This change in atmosphere is effectively portrayed, though it does feel somewhat rushed.

Kennedy is soon revealed to be an alien creature, the Abzorbaloff, who absorbs the bodies and consciousnesses of others. The concept of the Abzorbaloff, designed by a young Doctor Who fan through a Blue Peter competition, is both comedic and unsettling. The creature’s grotesque design and ability to trap its victims inside its own flesh is disturbing, yet the character’s overall tone is more humorous than terrifying. The performance by Peter Kay as the Abzorbaloff is intentionally over-the-top, but it straddles a fine line between absurd and menacing, sometimes to mixed effect.

One of the episode’s strengths is its exploration of how the Doctor's actions, while heroic, can leave ripples in the lives of those he barely notices. Elton is a perfect example of this. His life was irrevocably changed by his brief encounter with the Doctor as a child, but the Doctor has no memory of Elton. The emotional toll this has on Elton is palpable, and the episode does a good job of showing the loneliness and obsession that can stem from such experiences. Elton’s search for meaning, and his eventual realization that not all questions can be answered, adds emotional weight to the otherwise lighthearted story.

Elton’s relationship with Jackie Tyler, Rose’s mother, is a surprising and touching subplot. Jackie, often relegated to comic relief in the series, gets a more nuanced portrayal here. Her loneliness and vulnerability come to the forefront as she develops a friendship with Elton. The scenes between them are some of the episode’s most grounded and emotional moments. Jackie’s realization that Elton is using her to get closer to the Doctor is heartbreaking, and her confrontation with him is raw and honest. This subplot serves as a reminder that those left behind by the Doctor have their own lives and struggles, making them more than just side characters in his adventures.

However, Love & Monsters is a divisive episode, and for good reason. The tonal shifts from light comedy to dark horror are jarring at times. The episode tries to balance humor with serious themes, but the result is uneven. The Abzorbaloff, while visually memorable, feels out of place in the episode’s emotional narrative. The resolution to the conflict, where Elton’s friends are absorbed by the Abzorbaloff and ultimately help defeat him, is both clever and absurd. The idea that one of Elton’s friends, Ursula, is partially saved but remains trapped as a sentient paving stone, is an ending that has sparked much debate among fans. For some, it adds to the episode’s quirky charm, while for others, it undermines the emotional stakes of the story.

From a production standpoint, the episode is solid, with good performances, particularly from Marc Warren as Elton and Camille Coduri as Jackie. The direction by Dan Zeff keeps the pacing brisk, and the episode’s visual style complements its more whimsical tone. The use of Elton’s video diary as a framing device is an effective storytelling technique, giving the episode a distinct feel from others in the series.

Ultimately, Love & Monsters is an ambitious episode that aims to do something different within the Doctor Who format. While it doesn’t always succeed, it’s notable for its attempt to explore the Doctor’s impact on ordinary people, rather than focusing solely on his larger-than-life adventures. For viewers who appreciate the more experimental side of *Doctor Who*, this episode offers a refreshing change of pace. However, for those who prefer the show’s more traditional storytelling, the episode’s offbeat humor and tonal inconsistencies may not resonate as strongly.

In conclusion, Love & Monsters is a bold and unconventional episode that delivers some heartfelt moments and explores interesting themes about the Doctor’s effect on ordinary lives. Despite its flaws, it stands out for its unique approach to storytelling and its willingness to step away from the typical Doctor-centric narrative. While it may not be to everyone’s taste, it remains a memorable part of Doctor Who’s second series.

Rating: 6.5/10

While its emotional core is compelling and its experimental narrative is interesting, the episode’s tonal inconsistencies and the bizarre nature of its villain prevent it from reaching its full potential. Nonetheless, its themes and unique perspective give it value.
