The Coming Assyrian Invasion

2 I will take to Myself faithful witnesses

for testimony, Uriah the priest and Zechariah the son of Jeberekiah.

3 So I went in to the prophetess, and she conceived and bore a son.

Then the Lord said to me, Call his name Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz.

4 For before the child knows how to cry "My father" and "My mother,"

the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria shall be taken away

before the king of Assyria.

5 The Lord spoke to me again, saying:

6 (Jn 9:7; Ne 3:15) Because this people refuses

the gently flowing waters of Shiloah

and rejoices in Rezin

and the son of Remaliah,

7 (Isa 17:12-13; 7:17) now therefore the Lord certainly

is about to bring upon them

the strong and plentiful waters of the River, [Euphrates River].

even the king of Assyria and all his glory;

and he shall come up over all his channels

and go over all his banks.

8 (Isa 7:14; 30:28) And he shall pass through Judah,

he shall overflow and go over,

he shall reach even to the neck,

and the stretching out of his wings shall fill the breadth of your land,

O Immanuel.

9 Be broken, O you peoples, and be broken in pieces.

river, strong and many, even the king of Assyria, and all his glory: and he

shall come up over all his channels, and go over all his banks:

[8] And he shall pass through Judah; he shall overflow and go over, he shall

reach even to the neck; and the stretching out of his wings shall fill the

breadth of thy land, O Immanuel.

[9] Associate yourselves, O ye people, and ye shall be broken in pieces; and

give ear, all ye of far countries: gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken

in pieces; gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces.

[10] Take counsel together, and it shall come to nought; speak the word, and

it shall not stand: for God is with us.



Fear God



11 (Eze 3:14) For the Lord spoke thus to me with a strong hand

and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying:

12 (1Pe 3:14-15) You should not say, "It is a conspiracy,"

concerning all that this people calls a conspiracy,

neither fear their threats

nor be afraid of them.

13 Sanctify the Lord of Hosts Himself,

and let Him be your fear,

and let Him be your dread.

14 (Eze 11:16; Lk 2:34) He shall become a sanctuary,

but a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense

to both the houses of Israel,

and a trap and a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

15 (Isa 28:13; Mt 21:44) Many among them shall stumble

and fall and be broken

and be snared and be taken.

16 (Da 12:4 ) Bind up the testimony;

seal the law among My disciples.

17 (Isa 54:8; Hab 2:3) I will wait on the Lord,

who hides His face from the house of Jacob,

and I will eagerly look for Him.

18 (Ps 9:11; Lk 2:34) See, I and the children whom the Lord has given me

are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the Lord of Hosts who dwells

in Mount Zion.

19 (Isa 19:3; Lev 20:6) When they say to you, "Seek after the mediums

and the wizards, who whisper and mutter," should not a people seek

after their God? Should they consult the dead for the living?

20 (Mic 3:6; 2Pe 1:19) To the law and to the testimony;

if they do not speak according to this word,

it is because there is no light in them.

when they are hungry, they shall be furious and curse their king

and their God as they look upward.

Isaiah 9



The Coming King

1 (2Ki 15:29; 2Ch 16:4) Nevertheless there shall be no more gloom

for her who was in anguish. In the former time He contemptuously

treated the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali,

but in the latter time He shall make it glorious,

by the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, in Galilee of the nations.

2 (Eph 5:8; Mt 4:16) The people who walked in darkness

have seen a great light;

those who dwell in the land of the shadow of death,

upon them the light has shined.

3 (1Sa 30:16; Isa 26:15) You have multiplied the nation

and increased the joy;

they rejoice before You

according to the joy of harvest

and as men rejoice

when they divide the spoil.

4 (Isa 14:25; 10:26-27) For You have broken the yoke of his burden

and the bar of his shoulder,

the rod of his oppressor

as in the day of Midian's defeat.

5For all the sandals of the tramping warriors

and all the garments rolled in blood

shall be burned as fuel for the fire.

6 (Isa 7:14; Mt 28:18; Lk 2:11) For unto us a child is born,

unto us a son is given,

and the government shall be upon his shoulder.

And his name shall be called

Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,

Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.

7 (Isa 37:32; Da 2:44) Of the increase of his government and peace

there shall be no end,

upon the throne of David

and over his kingdom,

to order it and to establish it

with justice and with righteousness,

from now until forever.

The zeal of the Lord of Hosts

will perform this.

Isaiah 9



[1] Nevertheless the dimness shall not be such as was in her vexation, when

at the first he lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun and the land of

Naphtali, and afterward did more grievously afflict her by the way of the

sea, beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the nations.

[2] The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that

dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.

[3] Thou hast multiplied the nation, and not increased the joy: they joy

before thee according to the joy in harvest, and as men rejoice when they

divide the spoil.

[4] For thou hast broken the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his

shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, as in the day of Midian.

[5] For every battle of the warrior is with confused noise, and garments

rolled in blood; but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire.

[6] For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government

shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful,

Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

[7] Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon

the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it

with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of

the LORD of hosts will perform this.



The Message Against Israel



8 The Lord sent a word against Jacob,

and it falls upon Israel.

9 (Isa 46:12) All the people shall know,

even Ephraim and the inhabitants of Samaria,

who say in the pride

and stoutness of heart,

10 (Mal 1:4) "The bricks are fallen down,

but we will build with hewn stones;

the sycamores are cut down,

but we will replace them with cedars."

11 Therefore, the Lord shall set up the adversaries of Rezin against him,

and join his enemies together.

12 (2Ch 28:18; Isa 5:25) The Arameans shall be before

and the Philistines behind;

and they shall devour Israel with open jaws.

For all this His anger is not turned away,

and His hand is stretched out still.

13 (Hos 7:10; Isa 31:1) For the people do not turn to Him who struck them,

nor do they seek the Lord of Hosts.

14 (Isa 19:15; Rev 18:8) Therefore the Lord will cut off from Israel head

and tail, branch and bulrush, in one day.

15 (Isa 3:2-3; Mt 24:24) The elder and honorable man, he is the head;

and the prophet that teaches lies, he is the tail.

16 (Isa 3:12; Mt 15:14) For the leaders of this people cause them to err,

and those who are led by them are destroyed.

17 (Isa 10:6; 5:25) Therefore the Lord shall have no joy in their young men,

nor shall He have mercy on their fatherless and widows;

for every one of them is a hypocrite and an evildoer,

and every mouth speaks folly.

For all this His anger is not turned away,

and His hand is stretched out still.

18 (Mal 4:1; Ps 83:14) For wickedness burns as a fire;

it shall devour the briers and thorns,

and shall ignite in the thickets of the forest,

and they shall mount up like rising smoke.

19 (Mic 7:2; 7:6) Through the wrath of the Lord of Hosts

is the land burned up,

and the people shall be as fuel for the fire;

no man shall spare his brother.

20 (Isa 49:26) They shall snatch on the right hand,

but still be hungry;

and they shall eat on the left hand,

and shall not be satisfied;

every man shall eat the flesh of his own arm.

21 (Isa 5:25; 2Ch 28:6-8) Manasseh consumes Ephraim, and Ephraim, Manasseh,

and they together shall be against Judah.

For all this His anger is not turned away,

and His hand is stretched out still.

Isaiah 10



1 (Ps 58:2) Woe to those who decree unrighteous decrees

and who write unjust judgments which they have prescribed

2 (Isa 3:14; 1:23) to turn aside the needy from justice

and to take away the right from the poor of My people,

that widows may be their prey,

and that they may rob the fatherless!

3 (Hos 9:7; Lk 19:44) And what will you do in the day of punishment

and in the desolation which shall come from afar?

To whom will you flee for help,

and where will you leave your wealth?

4 (Isa 5:25; 9:12) Nothing remains but to bow down among the prisoners,

and they shall fall among the slain.

For all this His anger is not turned away,

and His hand is stretched out still.

Judgment on Assyria



5 Woe to Assyria, the rod of My anger

and the staff in whose hand is My indignation.

6 (Isa 9:17) I will send him against an ungodly nation,

and against the people of My wrath I will give him a command,

to seize the plunder, to take the prey,

and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.

7 (Ge 50:20; Mic 4:11-12) However he does not so intend,

nor does he plan so in his heart;

but his purpose is to destroy

and to cut off many nations.

8 (2Ki 18:24) For he says, "Are not my princes altogether kings?

9 (2Ki 16:9; 2Ch 35:20) Is not Kalno as Carchemish?

Is not Hamath as Arpad?

Is not Samaria as Damascus?

10 As my hand has found the kingdoms of the idols

whose graven images were greater than those of Jerusalem and Samaria,

11 shall I not, as I have done to Samaria and her idols,

so do to Jerusalem and her idols?"

12 (2Ki 19:31; Jer 50:18) When the Lord has performed all His work

on Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, He will say,

"I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Assyria

and the glory of his high looks."

13 (Da 4:30) For he says:

"By the strength of my hand and by my wisdom,

I have done it, for I am prudent;

and I have removed the bounds of the people,

and have robbed their treasures,

and I have put down the inhabitants like a valiant man.

14 (Job 31:25) And my hand has found as a nest

the riches of the people,

and as one gathers eggs that are left,

I have gathered all the earth

and there was no one who moved the wing

or opened the mouth or peeped."

15 (Isa 10:5; Ro 9:20-21; Isa 45:9) Shall the axe boast itself against

him who hews with it?

Or shall the saw magnify itself against him who wields it?

That is as if the rod wields itself against those who lift it up,

or as if the staff should lift itself up as if it were not wood.

16 (Ps 106:15) Therefore the Lord, God of Hosts,

shall send leanness among his stout ones,

and under his glory he shall kindle a burning

like the burning of a fire.

17 (Nu 11:1-3; Isa 27:4) The light of Israel shall be a fire,

and his Holy One a flame,

and it shall burn and devour

his thorns and his briers in one day,

18 (2Ki 19:23; Isa 10:33-34) and shall consume the glory of his forest,

and of his fruitful field, both soul and body;

and it shall be as when a sick man faints.

19 The rest of the trees of his forest shall be so few

that a child may write them down.



[5] O Assyrian, the rod of mine anger, and the staff in their hand is mine

indignation.

[6] I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people

of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the

prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.

[7] Howbeit he meaneth not so, neither doth his heart think so; but it is in

his heart to destroy and cut off nations not a few.

[8] For he saith, Are not my princes altogether kings?

[9] Is not Calno as Carchemish? is not Hamath as Arpad? is not Samaria as

Damascus?

[10] As my hand hath found the kingdoms of the idols, and whose graven

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month

and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days

of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that

usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,

of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be

decorated and festivals will be held.



For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the

distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of

Islam.



You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",

which means Blessed Eid!"



Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you

know, and Muslims around the world:



- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions

in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about

unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such

movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three

decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim

relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.

Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,

"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;

your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.

18 Even on My menservants and maidservants

I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.

19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below:

blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,

and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes.

21 And whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."[a]

"My name is Kam. I'm 29 years of age, and I grew up Sikh. As a teenager,

I struggled with depression, brokenness, and addiction to

cannabis. I didn't know how to stop or how to get help.

Ahaz, King of Judah



2Ch 28:1-27



1 (Isa 1:1) In the seventeenth year of Pekah son of Remaliah,

Ahaz son of Jotham, king of Judah, became king.

2 Ahaz was twenty years old when he became king,

and he reigned for sixteen years in Jerusalem.

He did not do what was right in the sight of the Lord his God

like David his father.

3 (Dt 12:31; Lev 18:21; 2Ki 21:2) He walked in the way of the kings

of Israel and even made his son pass through the fire according

to the abominations of the nations whom the Lord dispossessed

before the children of Israel­.

4 (Dt 12:2; 1Ki 14:23) He sacrificed and made offerings on the high places,

on the hills, and under every green tree.

5 (2Ki 15:37) Then Rezin king of Aram and Pekah son of Remaliah,

king of Israel, came up to Jerusalem to battle, and they besieged Ahaz

but could not subdue him.

6 (2Ki 14:22; 2Ch 26:2) At that time Re­zin king of Aram recovered Elath

for Aram and expelled the Judeans from Elath. The Edomites came to Elath

and live there to this day.

saying, "I am your servant and your son. Come up and save me from the hand

of the king of Aram and from the hand of the king of Israel,

who are rising up against me."

in the house of the Lord and in the treasures of the king's house,

and sent a present to the king of Assyria.

9 (Isa 22:6; Am 9:7) So the king of Assyria listened to him.

The king of Assyria went up to Damascus, captured it,

exiled the people to Kir, and killed Rezin.

and he burned his sons in the fire according to the detestable acts

of the nations that the Lord had displaced before the sons of Israel.

4 He even made sacrifices and offered incense on the high places

of the hills and under every green tree.



[1] Ahaz was twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned

Judah Defeated



5 (Isa 7:1; 2Ki 16:5-6) So the Lord his God gave him

into the hand of the king of Aram. They struck Ahaz and took captive

many prisoners and brought them to Damascus.

He was even given into the hand of the king of Israel,

and he attacked Ahaz with a great slaughter.

6 (2Ki 15:27; Isa 9:21) And Pekah the son of Rem­aliah killed

120000 in Judah in one day, and they were all strong men,

but they abandoned the Lord God of their fathers.

7 And Zikri, a mighty warrior from Ephraim, killed Maaseiah

the son of the king, and Azrikam the official of the palace,

and Elkanah second to the king.

8 (2Ch 11:4; Dt 28:25) And the sons of Israel took captive 200000

of their kin, women, sons, and daughters.

They also took much plunder and brought the plunder to Samaria.

9 (Ezr 9:6; Isa 47:6) And there was a prophet there whose name was Oded,

and he went out to the army as it approached Samaria and said to them,

"See that the anger of the Lord God of your fathers is against Judah,

and He gave them into your hand, and you all have killed them

in a rage that has reached even to heaven.

10 (Lev 25:39-46) And now you are planning to subdue for yourselves

the people of Judah and Jerusalem as male and female slaves.

Do you all not surely have among you guilt before the Lord your God?

11 (Jas 2:13) And now listen to me. Return the captives whom you have taken

captive from your relatives

because the burning wrath of the Lord is on you all."

12 And some men who were heads of the people of Ephraim rose up

before those coming from the war: Azariah the son of Jehohanan,

Berekiah the son of Meshillemoth, Jehizkiah the son of Shallum,

and Amasa the son of Hadlai.

13 And they said, "You will not bring the captives here, for guilt

from the Lord will be on us, and you plan to add to our sin and guilt.

Our guilt is great, and there is already a burning anger against Israel."

14 So the soldiers left the captives and spoil before the officials

and all the assembly.

15 (Dt 34:3; 2Ki 6:22) Then the men who were designated by name took

the captives and clothed those who were naked from the plunder.

So they clothed them, gave them sandals, offered them food and drink,

anointed them with oil, and led them on donkeys, even all those who stumbled.

They brought them to Jericho, the city of palm trees,

which was near their kinsmen. Then the officials returned to Samaria.



[5] Wherefore the LORD his God delivered him into the hand of the king of

Syria; and they smote him, and carried away a great multitude of them

captives, and brought them to Damascus. And he was also delivered into the

hand of the king of Israel, who smote him with a great slaughter.

[6] For Pekah the son of Remaliah slew in Judah an hundred and twenty

thousand in one day, which were all valiant men; because they had forsaken

the LORD God of their fathers.

[7] And Zichri, a mighty man of Ephraim, slew Maaseiah the king's son, and

Azrikam the governor of the house, and Elkanah that was next to the king.

[8] And the children of Israel carried away captive of their brethren two

hundred thousand, women, sons, and daughters, and took also away much spoil

from them, and brought the spoil to Samaria.

[9] But a prophet of the LORD was there, whose name was Oded: and he went

out before the host that came to Samaria, and said unto them, Behold,

because the LORD God of your fathers was wroth with Judah, he hath

delivered them into your hand, and ye have slain them in a rage

that reacheth up unto heaven.

[10] And now ye purpose to keep under the children of Judah and Jerusalem

for bondmen and bondwomen unto you: but are there not with you, even with

you, sins against the LORD your God?

[11] Now hear me therefore, and deliver the captives again, which ye have

taken captive of your brethren: for the fierce wrath of the LORD is upon

you.

[12] Then certain of the heads of the children of Ephraim, Azariah the son

Shallum, and Amasa the son of Hadlai, stood up against them that came from

the war,

[13] And said unto them, Ye shall not bring in the captives hither: for

whereas we have offended against the LORD already, ye intend to add more to

our sins and to our trespass: for our trespass is great, and there is

fierce wrath against Israel.

[14] So the armed men left the captives and the spoil before the princes

and all the congregation.

[15] And the men which were expressed by name rose up, and took the

captives, and with the spoil clothed all that were naked among them, and

arrayed them, and shod them, and gave them to eat and to drink, and

anointed

them, and carried all the feeble of them upon asses, and brought them to

Jericho, the city of palm trees, to their brethren: then they returned to

Samaria.



Isaiah 7



Isaiah Reassures King Ahaz



1 (2Ki 15:37; 16:1) And it came to pass in the days of Ahaz the son of Jotham,

the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, that Rezin the king of Aram,

and Pekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, went up toward Jerusalem

to war against it, but could not prevail against it.

2 (Isa 7:13; 8:12) It was said to the house of David, "Aram is allied

with Ephraim." Then his heart trembled and the heart of his people,

as the trees of the wood tremble with the wind.

3 (2Ki 18:17; Isa 36:2) Then the Lord said to Isaiah: Go out now to meet Ahaz,

you, and Shear-Jashub your son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool

in the highway of the fuller's field,

4 (Dt 20:3; Isa 30:15) and say to him, Take heed, and be quiet. Do not fear

nor be fainthearted because of the two tails of these smoking firebrands,

because of the fierce anger of Rezin with Aram and of the son of Remaliah,

5 because Aram, Ephraim, and the son of Remaliah have taken evil counsel

against you, saying,

6 Let us go up against Judah, and trouble it, and let us make a breach there

for us, and set a king in the midst of it, even the son of Tabeel.

7 (Isa 8:10) Thus says the Lord God:

It shall not stand,

nor shall it come to pass.

8 (Isa 17:1-3; Ge 14:15) For the head of Aram is Damascus,

and the head of Damascus is Rezin.

Now within 65 years

Ephraim shall be broken so that it is not a people.

9 (2Ch 20:20) The head of Ephraim is Samaria,

and the head of Samaria is the son of Remaliah.

If you will not believe,

surely you shall not be established.

The Sign of Immanuel

Make it either as deep as Sheol or as high as heaven.

12 But Ahaz said, I will not ask, nor will I tempt the Lord.

13 (Isa 43:24; 7:2) Then he said, "Hear now, O house of David.

Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will you weary my God also?

14 (Isa 8:8; Mt 1:23; Isa 9:6) Therefore the Lord Himself shall give you

a sign: The virgin [Heb. young woman.] shall conceive, and bear a son,

and shall call his name Immanuel.Or God with us.

15 (Isa 7:22) Curds and honey he shall eat at the time that he knows

enough to refuse the evil and choose the good.

16 (Isa 8:4) For before the child shall know to refuse the evil

and choose the good, the land that you dread shall be forsaken

of both her kings.

17 (Isa 8:7-8; 10:5-6) The Lord shall bring upon you, and upon your people,

and upon your father's house, days that have not come from the day

that Ephraim departed from Judah, even the king of Assyria."

18 (Isa 5:26) In that day the Lord shall whistle for the fly that is

in the uttermost part of the rivers of Egypt, and for the bee that is

in the land of Assyria.

19 (Isa 2:19; Jer 16:16) They shall come, and all of them shall rest

in the desolate valleys, and in the holes of the rocks,

and on all thorns, and on all bushes.

20 (Isa 8:7; 10:15) In that same day the Lord shall shave with a hired razor,

from regions beyond the River,Euphrates River. with the king of Assyria,

the head, and the hair of the legs, and it shall also remove the beard.

21 (Isa 5:17; Jer 39:10) In that day a man shall nourish a young cow

and two sheep,

22 (Isa 7:15) and because of the abundance of milk that they give, he shall

eat curds; for everyone who is left in the land shall eat curds and honey.

23 (Isa 5:6) In that day every place where there were a thousand vines,

worth a thousand shekels [About 25 pounds, or 12 kilograms.] of silver,

shall become briers and thorns.

24 With arrows and with bows shall men come there because

all the land shall become briers and thorns.

25 On all hills that used to be cultivated with the hoe, you will not go

there for fear of briers and thorns. But it shall be for pasturing oxen

and for sheep to tread.



[10] Moreover the LORD spake again unto Ahaz, saying,

[11] Ask thee a sign of the LORD thy God; ask it either in the depth, or in

the height above.

A Good Soldier of Christ Jesus

in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

2 (1Ti 1:18; 6:12) Share the things that you have heard from me

in the presence of many witnesses with faithful men who will be able

to teach others also.

3 (1Ti 1:18; 2Ti 1:8) Endure hard times as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

4 (2Pe 2:20) No soldier on active duty entangles himself

with civilian affairs, that he may please the enlisting officer.

5 Anyone who competes as an athlete is not rewarded without competing legally.

6 The farmer who labors should be first to partake of the crops.

7 Consider what I am saying, and may the Lord grant you understanding

in all things.

8 (Mt 1:1; Ro 2:16) Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead,

descended from David, according to my gospel,

Bulgarian lifeguard Yane Petkov won a world record for swimming with his hands

and feet tied together. He swam 3380 meters through the water but added

something to intensify the challenge - he wrapped his body in a sack.



The patience and strength required to keep moving despite being so "tied up"

amazes me. The apostle Paul also displayed rugged resistance to obstacles as

he served God in the days of the early church. Despite facing fatigue, hunger,

sleeplessness, and beatings, Paul continued to preach and write letters of

encouragement and instruction to his fellow believers.



Paul penned his last letter to Timothy when he was isolated in a Roman prison,

awaiting execution. Although shackles restricted his body, he noted that the

good news could not be "chained" (2 Timothy 2:9). "Therefore," Paul said,

"I endure everything" to give others the chance to hear and accept

the truth about Jesus Christ (v. 10).



God can help us endure any kind of difficulty that stands in the way of

serving Him. Physical limitations such as illness, injuries, and disabilities

require care and attention, but they can't ultimately surpass God's power,

which is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). Let's give God

the glory when He works through us to do things we cannot do on our own.

People were talking ; the gossip lines were busy day and night.

Andrea, a Bible study leader and pillar of the church, had been

accused of indiscretion with a married man, another member

of the congregation. The rumours were proven untrue,

but that hardly mattered anymore. The damage was done.

"It's just not far," Andrea said. " It was all so unnecessary.

And now, even though I've done nothing wrong, my relationship

with that church will never be the same again."

We all know what pain is caused by undeserved accusation,

rejection, and misunderstanding. Sometimes, when the smoke clears,

irreparable damage has been done, even when no sin has occurred.

We can understand the torment that comes when we've sinned,

but when we've done nothing wrong, the injustice seem unbearable.

Jesus knew what it was to suffer unjustly. He had never sinned at all,

yet he 'became sin' for us. He gave himself in an outrageous exchange:

he took our sin and gave us his righteousness.

Living in this exchange does not mean, of course, that we will be exempt

from pain, that we will never again suffer unjustly or be subject

to rejection. But in Christ, we are declared righteous before God,

just as Jesus himself is righteous. And as we submit

to the Holy Spirit's work in us, we become righteous ,

obeying him and growing in grace. Christ endured rejection

for us so that we might live in him.



Application

Jotham, King of Judah

1 (1Ch 3:12) Jotham was 25 years old when he began as king, and he reigned

sixteen years in Jerusalem. The name of his mother was Jerushah the daughter

2 And he did what was correct in the eyes of the Lord just as his father

Uzziah had done. However, he did not enter the temple of the Lord.

But the people continued acting corruptly.

3 (2Ch 33:14; Ne 3:26-27) And he built the Upper Gate of the house

of the Lord, and he built much on the wall of Ophel.

4 And he built cities in the hill country of Judah, and on the wooded heights

he built citadels and towers.

5 He made war with the king of the Ammonites and prevailed against them.

Micah 1

Judgment Against Samaria and Jerusalem

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month

and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days

of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that

usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,

of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be

decorated and festivals will be held.



For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the

distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of

Islam.



You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",

which means Blessed Eid!"



Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you

know, and Muslims around the world:



- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions

in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about

unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such

movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three

decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim

relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.

Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,

"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;

your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.

18 Even on My menservants and maidservants

I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.

19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below:

blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,

and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes.

11 The mind of the king of Aram was troubled by this, so he called

his servants and said to them, "Will you not tell me who among us sides

with the king of Israel?"

12 Then one of his servants said, "No one, my lord, O king. Elisha,

the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the words that

you speak in your bedroom."

13 (Ge 37:17) He said, "Go and see where he is, so that I may send for him

and take him." And it was told to him, "He is in Dothan."

14 So he sent horses, chariots, and a great army there. They came by night

and surrounded the city.

15 When a servant of the man of God rose early in the morning and went out,

And his servant said to him, "Alas, my master! What will we do?"

The angels were there all along, but no one alive had seen them. They adorned

the walls of the Old North Church in Boston, looking down from on high, but

they'd been covered with layers of paint more than a century ago. Church

records indicated a contract with a member of the congregation to paint them

in 1730 when the church was undergoing construction. A recent restoration

project that commenced in 2017 led to the discovery of the angels.



Scripture speaks of supernatural beings - real, not painted - that were

present when others were not aware. On one occasion, the prophet Elisha was

surrounded by the army of the king of Aram. When his servant saw the hostile

forces, he cried out, "Oh no, my lord! What shall we do?" (2 Kings 6:15).

"'Don't be afraid,' the prophet answered. 'Those who are with us are more

than those who are with them' " (v. 16). Elisha prayed for his servant's eyes

to be opened, and "he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of

fire all around Elisha" (v. 17).



Angels are "ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit

salvation" (Hebrews 1:14), messengers of God sent to help us. We may or may

not see them, but they're there because God has more ways of watching over us

than we can imagine. And that should cause us to praise Him,

like the angels do.

John 10:28 - I give them eternal life. They shall never perish,

nor shall anyone snatch them from My hand.



28 and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish,

neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.



In C.S. Lewis's The Great Divorce, one of the Spirits in heaven, identifying

himself as George MacDonald, makes some startling statements on the nature of

eternal life. Depending upon the individual's choice for or against Christ,

MacDonald says, everything in life takes on the character of haven or hell.

"At the end of ALL THINGS, when the sun rises here (in heaven) and the twilight

turns to blackness down there, the Blessed will say, 'We have never lived

anywhere except in Heaven,' and the Lost, 'We were always in Hell.'

And both will speak truly" - From the Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis.

Lewis was not trying to make a theological case, but to demonstrate

a principle: eternal life begins now.

The choices that we make for or against obedience to God, the life we live,

the patterns we establish, all move us in one direction of the other.

And when we have decided to choose obedience to God (the forsakeness of sin),

when we give ourselves fully into his hands, he is able to take the worst of

circumstances and redeem them for our good, use them to mature us in his image.

Again Jesus says in John 10:28

"I give them eternal life. They shall never perish,

nor shall anyone snatch them from My hand. "

In Christ is a very secure place to be. No experience is lost, no pain is

wasted. Everything in our lives is redeemed by God for our benefit.

The man became exceedingly prosperous and had many sheep

and female servants and male servants and camels and donkeys.



And the man increased exceedingly, and had much cattle,

and maidservants, and menservants, and camels, and asses.

Shallum, King of Israel



13 Shallum son of Jabesh became king in the thirty-ninth year

of Uzziah king of Judah. He reigned for a month in Samaria.

14 Then Menahem son of Gadi went up from Tirzah, entered Samaria,

and struck Shallum son of Jabesh in Samaria and killed him.

Then Menahem reigned in his place.

15 Now the rest of the deeds of Shallum and the conspiracy he made,

behold, they are written in the book of the annals of the kings of Israel.

16 Then Menahem struck Tiphsah and all who were in it, and the territories

around Tirzah. Because they did not open up the city to him, he attacked it.

Then he split open all its pregnant women.



[13] Shallum the son of Jabesh began to reign in the nine and thirtieth

year of Uzziah king of Judah; and he reigned a full month in Samaria.

[14] For Menahem the son of Gadi went up from Tirzah, and came to Samaria,

and smote Shallum the son of Jabesh in Samaria, and slew him, and

reigned in his stead.

[15] And the rest of the acts of Shallum, and his conspiracy which he made,

behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of

Israel.

[16] Then Menahem smote Tiphsah, and all that were therein, and the coasts

thereof from Tirzah: because they opened not to him, therefore he smote it;

and all the women therein that were with child he ripped up.



Menahem, King of Israel

17 In the thirty-ninth year of Azariah king of Judah, Menahem son of Gadi

became king over Israel for ten years in Samaria.

18 He did evil in the sight of the Lord. He did not turn aside all his days

from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin.

19 Pul the king of Assyria came against the land, and Menahem gave Pul

a thousand talents of silver, that he might help him strengthen

his control of the kingdom.

20 Menahem exacted the money from Israel, from all the very wealthy men,

fifty shekels of silver each, to give to the king of Assyria.

So the king of Assyria left and did not stay there in the land.

wealth, of each man fifty shekels of silver, to give to the king of

Assyria.

So the king of Assyria turned back, and stayed not there in the land.

Pekahiah, King of Israel

of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin.



[23] In the fiftieth year of Azariah king of Judah Pekahiah the son of

Menahem began to reign over Israel in Samaria, and reigned two years.

not from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin.



25 But Pekah son of Remaliah, his officer, conspired against him

and struck him in Samaria, in the palace of the king's house, with Argob,

29 In the days of Pekah king of Israel, Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria came

and took Ijon, Abel of Beth-maacah, Janoah, Kedesh, Hazor, Gilead, Galilee,

and all the land of Naphtali, and then exiled them to Assyria.

30 Then Hoshea son of Elah made a conspiracy against Pekah son of Remaliah

and struck and killed him. Then he reigned in his place in the twentieth

year of Jotham son of Uzziah.

2 Chronicles 26:22-23



22 (Isa 1:1; 6:1) Now the remainder of the acts of Uzziah,

from beginning to end, Isaiah the prophet, son of Amoz, has written them.

23 (2Ch 21:20; 28:27) So Uzziah slept with his fathers, and they buried him

with his fathers in the burial field belonging to the kings because they said,

"He is a leper." And Jotham his son ruled in his place.

The Commission of Isaiah



1 (Jn 12:41; 2Ki 15:7) In the year that King Uzziah died

I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up,

and His train filled the temple.

2 (Rev 4:8; Ps 103:20) Above it stood the seraphim. Each one had six wings.

With two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet,

and with two he flew.

3 (Ps 72:19; Nu 14:21) One cried to another and said:

"Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of Hosts;

the whole earth is full of His glory."

4 (Rev 15:8; Am 9:1) The posts of the door moved at the voice of him

who cried, and the house was filled with smoke.

5 (Ex 33:20; Jer 9:3-8) And I said: "Woe is me! For I am undone

because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people

of unclean lips. For my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of Hosts."

6 (Rev 8:3-5) Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal

which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar in his hand.

7 (Jer 1:9; Da 10:16) And he laid it on my mouth, and said,

"This has touched your lips, and your iniquity is taken away,

Azariah, King of Judah



2Ch 26:3-23



1 (2Ki 14:21; 15:13) In the twenty-seventh year of Jeroboam king of Israel,

Azariah son of Amaziah, king of Judah, became king.

2 He was sixteen years old when he became king, and he reigned 52 years

in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Jekoliah from Jerusalem.

3 He did what was right in the sight of the Lord,

according to all that his father Amaziah had done.

4 But the high places were not removed. The people continued sacrificing

and making offerings on the high places.

5 (Lev 13:46; Nu 12:14) The Lord afflicted the king, and he was leprous

until the day of his death. He lived in a separate house. Jotham the king's

son was in charge of the house, judging the people of the land.

[1] In the twenty and seventh year of Jeroboam king of Israel began Azariah

son of Amaziah king of Judah to reign.

[2] Sixteen years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned two and

fifty years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jecholiah of Jerusalem.

[3] And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to

all that his father Amaziah had done;

[4] Save that the high places were not removed: the people sacrificed and

burnt incense still on the high places.

[5] And the LORD smote the king, so that he was a leper unto the day of his

death, and dwelt in a several house. And Jotham the king's son was over the

house, judging the people of the land.

Uzziah, King of Judah

2 Ki 14:21-22; 15:1-7

1 (2Ch 22:1) And all the people of Judah took Uzziah

[Also known as Azariah in 2Ki 15.] and made him king in the place

of his father Amaziah when he was sixteen years old.

2 He built Eloth and restored it to Judah

after Amaziah the king slept with his fathers.

3 (2Ki 15:2-3) Uzziah was sixteen years old when he began to reign,

and he was king in Jerusalem for fifty-two years. The name of his mother

was Jekoliah from Jerusalem.

4 And he did what was correct in the eyes of the Lord as everything

his father Amaziah had done.

5 (2Ch 24:2; Da 1:17) And he sought after God in the days of Zechariah,

the one who instructed him in the fear of the Lord. And in the days

that he sought after the Lord, God caused him to succeed.

6 (Isa 14:29) He went out to make war with the Philistines, and he broke

through the walls at Gath and Jabneh and Ashdod. Then he built cities

in Ashdod and among the Philistines.

7 (2Ch 21:16) And God brought him aid against the Philistines and Arabians,

those living in Gur Baal, and the Meunites.

8 (Ge 19:38; 2Sa 8:2) And the Ammonites gave a gift to Uzziah,

and his name spread even to the border of Egypt because he became

quite powerful.

9 (Ne 3:13; 2Ki 14:13) Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem at the Corner Gate,

at the Valley Gate, and at the corner buttress; and he fortified them.

10 (Ge 26:18-21) And he built towers in the wilderness, and he dug out

many cisterns because he had a large amount of livestock,

both in the lowland Shephelah and in the plain. He also had workers

in the fields and vineyards in the hills and fertile orchards,

for he loved agriculture.

11 And Uzziah had an army prepared for battle, those who went out

for war as companies in the number of their divisions

by the appointment of Jeiel the scribe, and Maaseiah the officer,

and Hananiah a commander of the king.

12 The total number of chief officers of the mighty men of valor

was two thousand six hundred.

13 And under their hand was a mighty army of 307500 who were able to go

to battle as a strong army and to help the king against his enemies.

14 And Uzziah prepared for the entire army shields, long spears,

helmets, scale armor, bows, and slings for stones.

15 In Jerusalem he made war machines by skilled men to be placed

on towers and corners to shoot arrows and large stones.

And his name went out for a great distance.

He received great help until he was even more powerful.



[1] Then all the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old,

and made him king in the room of his father Amaziah.

with his fathers.

[7] And God helped him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians

that dwelt in Gur-baal, and the Mehunims.

[8] And the Ammonites gave gifts to Uzziah: and his name spread abroad even

to the entering in of Egypt; for he strengthened himself exceedingly.

[9] Moreover Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem at the corner gate, and at

the valley gate, and at the turning of the wall, and fortified them.

[10] Also he built towers in the desert, and digged many wells: for he had

much cattle, both in the low country, and in the plains: husbandmen also,

and vine dressers in the mountains, and in Carmel: for he loved husbandry.

[11] Moreover Uzziah had an host of fighting men, that went out to war by

bands, according to the number of their account by the hand of Jeiel the

scribe and Maaseiah the ruler, under the hand of Hananiah, one of the

king's captains.

[12] The whole number of the chief of the fathers of the mighty men of

valour were two thousand and six hundred.

[13] And under their hand was an army, three hundred thousand and seven

thousand and five hundred, that made war with mighty power, to help the

king against the enemy.

[14] And Uzziah prepared for them throughout all the host shields, and

spears, and helmets, and habergeons, and bows, and slings to cast stones.

[15] And he made in Jerusalem engines, invented by cunning men, to be on the

towers and upon the bulwarks, to shoot arrows and great stones withal. And

his name spread far abroad; for he was marvellously helped,

till he was strong.



Uzziah's Punishment for Pride



16 (2Ch 25:19; Dt 8:14) And as he grew strong, his heart grew more proud,

leading to his destruction. Then he acted unfaithfully against the Lord

his God, for he entered the temple main hall of the Lord to burn

incense on the altar.

17 (1Ch 6:10) But Azariah the priest entered in after him,

and with him were eighty priests of the Lord-men of valor.

18 (Ex 30:7-8; Nu 18:7) And they stood against King Uzziah and said to him,

"It is not for you, Uzziah, to burn incense to the Lord for it is

for the priests, the sons of Aaron, who are consecrated to burn incense.

Leave from the sanctuary because you have been unfaithful, and there

will be no honor for you from the Lord God."

19 (Nu 12:10) Then Uzziah was enraged, and in his hand was a censer

for incense. And when he became angry with the priests, leprosy appeared

on his forehead in front of the priests in the house of the Lord,

near the altar of incense.

20 Then Azariah the head priest and all the priests turned to him,

and he had leprosy on his forehead; and they hastened to remove

him from there, and he also hurried to leave because the Lord had struck him.

21 (Lev 13:46) So King Uzziah had leprosy until the day of his death.

He dwelt in a separate house with his unclean disease

because he was cut off from the house of the Lord.

Then Jotham his son was over the house of the king,

and he governed the people of the land.



[16] But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction:

for he transgressed against the LORD his God, and went into the temple of the

LORD to burn incense upon the altar of incense.

[17] And Azariah the priest went in after him, and with him fourscore

priests of the LORD, that were valiant men:

[18] And they withstood Uzziah the king, and said unto him, It appertaineth

not unto thee, Uzziah, to burn incense unto the LORD, but to the priests

the sons of Aaron, that are consecrated to burn incense: go out of the

sanctuary; for thou hast trespassed; neither shall it be for thine honour

from the LORD God.

[19] Then Uzziah was wroth, and had a censer in his hand to burn incense:

and while he was wroth with the priests, the leprosy even rose up in his

forehead before the priests in the house of the LORD, from beside the

incense altar.

[20] And Azariah the chief priest, and all the priests, looked upon him,

and, behold, he was leprous in his forehead, and they thrust him out from

thence; yea, himself hasted also to go out, because the LORD had smitten

him.

[21] And Uzziah the king was a leper unto the day of his death, and dwelt in

a several house, being a leper; for he was cut off from the house of the

LORD: and Jotham his son was over the king's house, judging the people of

the land.

the son of Jeroboam reign over Israel in Samaria six months.



9 He did evil in the sight of the Lord, as his fathers had done.

He did not turn aside from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat,

who caused Israel to sin.

10 Shallum the son of Jabesh conspired against him, struck him at Ibleam,

and killed him. Then Shallum reigned in his place.

11 Now the rest of the deeds of Zechariah, behold, they are written in

the book of the annals of the kings of Israel.

12 This was the word of the Lord which He spoke to Jehu,

"Your sons will sit on the throne of Israel to the fourth generation."

And it was so.



[9] And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, as his fathers

had done: he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who

made Israel to sin.

[10] And Shallum the son of Jabesh conspired against him, and smote him

before the people, and slew him, and reigned in his stead.

The Song of the Vineyard



1 (Ps 80:8; Mt 21:33) Now I will sing to my well-beloved a song of my beloved

concerning His vineyard:

My well-beloved has a vineyard

in a very fruitful hill.

2 (Jer 2:21; Mk 11:13) And He fenced it, and removed its stones,

and planted it with the choicest vine.

And He built a tower in the midst of it,

and also made a winepress in it;

and He expected it to bring forth good grapes,

but it brought forth wild grapes.

3 Now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem and men of Judah,

judge between My vineyard and Me.

4 (Mt 23:37) What more could have been done to My vineyard

that I have not done in it?

Why, when I expected it to bring forth good grapes,

did it bring forth wild grapes?

5 (Isa 28:18; La 1:15) So now I will tell you

what I will do to My vineyard:

I will take away its hedge,

and it shall be consumed;

I will break down its wall,

Woes and Judgment

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month

and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days

of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that

usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,

of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be

decorated and festivals will be held.



For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the

distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of

Islam.



You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",

which means Blessed Eid!"



Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you

know, and Muslims around the world:



- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions

in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about

unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such

movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three

decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim

relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.

Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,

"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;

your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.

18 Even on My menservants and maidservants

I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.

19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below:

blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,

"You're good at playing the guitar," I said to a new friend at church.

"Thanks," he said. "That's my ministry." There was that word again. Ministry.

I didn't know what that was or how someone "got" a ministry. But my friend was

simply using the musical ability he’d been given to serve others. When I later

discovered that one of my gifts was exhortation, or encouragement, I was a bit

disappointed. It felt too plain. But soon I realised that as the care leader

of our small group, I delighted in writing encouraging notes or calling our

members. I'd been using one of my spiritual gifts without even knowing it.



As believers in Jesus, we're each given spiritual gifts to serve in the

church (1 Corinthians 12:6). Sometimes we don't know what they are, so we

simply serve where there's need.

The Holy Spirit will do the rest (vv. 4-6, 8-11).



Just as our human body has many parts with different functions, in Christ,

"we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.

We have different gifts, according to the grace given

to each of us" (Romans 12:5-6). Teaching, encouraging, giving, and showing

mercy are just some of the spiritual gifts mentioned in the passage from

the book of Romans (vv. 6-8). Whatever spiritual gifts the Holy Spirit

entrusts us with, let's use them to serve others

in the church - the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:27).

Often called "the gospel in a nutshell", John 3:16 is so familiar,

even the unchurched, that it has all but lost its impact for us.

WE cite it by rote, as if it had no more meaning than a SSN (SIN),

and think that we understand the truth because we know the words.

Why did God send Jesus, his only Son, into the world to die?

Because he loved the people he created. God had no reason,

humanly speaking, to love mankind. Throughout history, from

the Garden of Eden forward, people had deliberately turned

against God and tried his patience. Even the nation God chose

for himself, Israel rebelled against the Lord and turned to other gods.

And we, as individuals, have rebelled against him too. WE have tried

to control our own lives; we have denied his reality; or

acknowledged his existence and then systematically ignored him.

We have become our own gods.

Yet Christ, in love, took upon himself the rejection, the humiliation,

the pain we were responsible for. We deserved to be condemned to die,

but he died for us instead. "God did not send his Son into the world

to condemn the world," John 3:17 says, "but that the world

through Him might be saved."

Often, even after we have committed our lives to Christ, we mistakenly

suppose that God's primary purpose is to condemn us - to catch us in sin

and punish us. But God says that his purpose is to love us and to save us

from sin and ourselves. He loved, and so he gave; he still loves us,

and he still continues to give.

2 (Isa 27:13; Mic 4:1-3) In the last days,

the mountain of the Lord's house shall be established

on the top of the mountains,

and shall be exalted above the hills,

and all nations shall flow to it.

3 (Lk 24:47; Isa 51:4-5) Many people shall go and say,

"Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,

to the house of the God of Jacob,

and He will teach us of His ways,

and we will walk in His paths."

For out of Zion shall go forth the law,

and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

4 (Hos 2:18; Joel 3:10) He shall judge among the nations,

and shall rebuke many peoples;

and they shall beat their swords into plowshares,

and their spears into pruning hooks;

nation shall not lift up sword against nation,

nor shall they learn war any more.

5 (Eph 5:8; 1Jn 1:7) O house of Jacob, come,

and let us walk in the light of the Lord.



[1] the word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and

Jerusalem.

[2] And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the

LORD's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be

exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.

[3] And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the

mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us

The Day of the Lord



6 (2Ki 1:2) For You have forsaken Your people,

the house of Jacob,

because they are replenished from the east,

and are soothsayers like the Philistines,

and they please themselves with the children of strangers.

7 (Isa 30:16; 31:1) Their land also is full of silver and gold,

and there is no end to their treasures;

their land is also full of horses,

and there is no end to their chariots.

8 (Ps 115:4-8; Isa 37:19) Their land also is full of idols;

they worship the work of their own hands,

that which their own fingers have made.

9 (Isa 5:15; Ps 49:2) And the common man bows down,

and the great man humbles himself;

therefore, do not forgive them.

10 (Rev 6:15-16) Enter into the rock,

and hide in the dust

from the fear of the Lord

and from the glory of His majesty.

11 (Ps 18:27; Isa 5:15-16) The lofty looks of man shall be humbled,

and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down,

and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day.

12 (Mal 4:1) For the day of the Lord of Hosts shall be

upon everything that is proud and lofty,

and upon everything that is lifted up,

and it shall be brought low;

13 (Isa 14:8) and it will be upon all the cedars of Lebanon

that are high and lifted up,

and upon all the oaks of Bashan,

14 (Isa 30:25; 40:4) and upon all the high mountains,

and upon all the hills that are lifted up,

15 and upon all the high towers,

and upon every fenced wall,

16 (1Ki 10:22; Isa 23:1) and upon all the ships of Tarshish,

and upon all pleasant sloops.

17 (Isa 2:11) The loftiness of man shall be humbled,

and the haughtiness of men shall be brought low;

the Lord alone will be exalted in that day;

18 the idols He shall utterly abolish.

19 (Isa 2:10; Heb 12:26; Isa 2:21) They shall go into the holes of the rocks,

and into the caves of the earth,

from the fear of the Lord,

and from the glory of His majesty,

when He shall arise to shake the earth mightily.

20 (Isa 30:22; 31:7) In that day a man shall cast away

his idols of silver and his idols of gold,

which they made for themselves to worship,

to the moles and to the bats,

21 (Isa 2:19) to enter the caverns of the rocks,

and into the clefts of the cliffs,

from the terror of the Lord,

and from the glory of His majesty,

when He arises to shake the earth mightily.

22 (Ps 146:3; 8:4) Cease regarding man,

whose breath is in his nostrils;

for why should he be esteemed?



[6] Therefore thou hast forsaken thy people the house of Jacob, because they

gold, which they made each one for himself to worship, to the moles and to

the bats;

[21] To go into the clefts of the rocks, and into the tops of the ragged

rocks, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he

ariseth to shake terribly the earth.

[22] Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils: for wherein is he

to be accounted of?
