EXODUS 32

The Golden Calf



1 (Ex 24:18; Ac 7:40) Now when the people saw that Moses delayed

coming down from the mountain, the people gathered themselves

together around Aaron and said to him,

"Come, make us gods which will go before us. As for this Moses,

the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt,

we do not know what has become of him."

2 (Ex 12:35-36; Jdg 8:24-27) Aaron said to them,

"Break off the gold earrings that are in the ears of your wives,

your sons, and your daughters, and bring them to me."

3 So all the people broke off the gold earrings that were in their ears

and brought them to Aaron.

4 (Dt 9:16; Ne 9:18) He received them from their hand,

and fashioned it with an engraving tool, and made it into a molded calf.

Then they said, "This is your god, O Israel, who brought you up

from the land of Egypt."

5 (2Ki 10:20; Lev 23:2) When Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it.

And Aaron made a proclamation and said, "Tomorrow will be

a feast to the Lord."

6 (1Co 10:7; Nu 25:2) So they rose up early on the next day,

and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings.

And the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play.

7 (Dt 9:12; Ex 32:11) The Lord spoke to Moses, "Go, and get down,

for your people, whom you brought out of the land of Egypt,

have corrupted themselves.

8 (Ex 20:3-4; 20:23) They have quickly turned aside from the way

which I commanded them. They have made for themselves a molded calf,

and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed to it, and said,

'This is your god, O Israel, which has brought you up

from the land of Egypt.' "

9 (Ex 33:3; 33:5) Then the Lord said to Moses,

"I have seen this people, and certainly, it is a stiff-necked people.

10 (Dt 9:14; Nu 14:12; Dt 9:19) Now therefore let Me alone,

so that My wrath may burn against them and I may destroy them.

And I will make of you a great nation."

11 (Dt 9:18-20; 9:26-29) But Moses sought the favour of the Lord his God,

and said, "Lord, why does Your wrath burn against Your people,

whom You have brought forth from the land of Egypt with great power

and with a mighty hand?

12 (Nu 14:13-16; Dt 9:28) Why should the Egyptians speak, saying,

'With evil intent He brought them out, to kill them in the mountains

and to destroy them from the face of the earth'?

Turn from Your fierce wrath and relent of this harm against Your people.

13 (Ge 12:7; 22:16) Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, Your servants,

to whom You swore by Yourself, and said to them, 'I will multiply

your descendants as the stars of the heavens, and all this land that

I have spoken of will I give to your descendants,

and they will inherit it forever.'"

14 (Ps 106:45; 2Sa 24:16) Then the Lord relented of the harm

which He said He would do to His people.

15 (Dt 9:15) Moses turned and went down from the mountain

with the two tablets of testimony in his hand.

The tablets were written on both their sides.

They were written on one side and on the other.

16 (Ex 31:18)bThe tablets were God's work,

and the writing was God's writing, engraved on the tablets.

17 (Ex 17:9; 24:13) When Joshua heard the noise of the people

as they shouted, he said to Moses, "There is a sound of war in the camp."

18 But he said:

"It is not the sound of those who shout for victory,

nor is it the sound of those who cry because of being overcome,

but I hear the sound of singing."

19 (Dt 9:16-17) As soon as he came near the camp,

he saw the calf and the dancing, and Moses' anger burned,

so he threw the tablets from his hands

and shattered them at the bottom of the mountain.

20 (Dt 9:21) Then he took the calf which they had made

and burned it in the fire, ground it to powder,

and scattered it on the water, and made the children of Israel drink it.

21 (Ge 20:9) Moses said to Aaron, "What did this people do to you,

that you have brought so great a sin upon them?"

22 (Dt 9:24; Ex 14:11) Aaron said, "Do not let the anger of my lord burn.

You know that the people are set on evil.

23 (Ex 32:1-4) For they said to me, 'Make a god for us which will go

before us, for this Moses, the man that brought us up from

the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.'

24 (Ex 32:4) I said to them, 'Whoever has any gold, let them break it off.'

So they gave it to me, and then I threw it into the fire,

and this calf came out.'"

25 Now when Moses saw the people were in a frenzy,

for Aaron had let them get completely out of control,

causing derision from their enemies,

26 then Moses stood in the gate of the camp and said,

"Whoever is on the Lord's side, come to me."

And all the Levites gathered themselves together around him.

27 (Nu 25:5) He said to them, "Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel,

'Every man fasten his sword on his side,

and go back and forth from gate to gate throughout the camp,

and let every man kill his brother, and every man his friend,

and every man his neighbour.'"

28 (Dt 33:9) The Levites did according to the word of Moses,

and about three thousand men of the people died that day.

29 (Nu 25:11-13; Zec 13:3) For Moses had said,

"Consecrate yourselves today to the Lord,

that He may bestow a blessing on you this day,

for every man opposes his son and his brother."

30 (1Sa 12:20; Nu 25:13) On the next day Moses said to the people,

"You have committed a great sin, and now I will go up to the Lord.

Perhaps I can make atonement for your sin."

31 (Ex 20:23; 32:30) Then Moses returned to the Lord and said,

"Oh, this people has committed a great sin and have made a god

of gold for themselves.

32 (Ps 69:28; Da 12:1) Yet now, if You will, forgive their sin,

but if not, I pray, blot me out of Your book which You have written."

33 (Eze 18:4) Then the Lord said to Moses, "Whoever has sinned against Me,

I will blot him out of My book.

34 (Ex 23:20; Dt 32:35) So go now, lead the people to the place of which

I have spoken to you. Indeed, My angel will go before you.

Nevertheless in the day when I punish, I will indeed punish them

for their sin."

35 And the Lord plagued the people because they had made the calf,

the one that Aaron made.

[11] And Moses besought the LORD his God, and said, LORD, why doth thy wrath

wax hot against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of the land of

Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand?

[12] Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he

bring them out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the

face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil

against thy people.

[13] Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, thy servants, to whom thou swarest

by thine own self, and saidst unto them, I will multiply your seed as the

stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto

your seed, and they shall inherit it for ever.

[14] And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his

people.

[15] And Moses turned, and went down from the mount, and the two tables of

the testimony were in his hand: the tables were written on both their sides;

on the one side and on the other were they written.

[16] And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of

God, graven upon the tables.

tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount.

[20] And he took the calf which they had made, and burnt it in the fire, and

ground it to powder, and strawed it upon the water, and made the children of

Israel drink of it.

[21] And Moses said unto Aaron, What did this people unto thee, that thou

hast brought so great a sin upon them?

[22] And Aaron said, Let not the anger of my lord wax hot: thou knowest the

people, that they are set on mischief.

[23] For they said unto me, Make us gods, which shall go before us: for as

for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot

not what is become of him.

[24] And I said unto them, Whosoever hath any gold, let them break it off.

So they gave it me: then I cast it into the fire, and there came out this

calf.

[25] And when Moses saw that the people were naked; (for Aaron had made them

naked unto their shame among their enemies:)

[26] Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the

LORD's side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered

themselves together unto him.

[27] And he said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Put every man

his sword by his side, and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the

camp, and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every

man his neighbour.

[28] And the children of Levi did according to the word of Moses: and there

fell of the people that day about three thousand men.

[29] For Moses had said, Consecrate yourselves to day to the LORD, even

every man upon his son, and upon his brother; that he may bestow upon you a

blessing this day.

[30] And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses said unto the people, Ye

have sinned a great sin: and now I will go up unto the LORD; peradventure I

shall make an atonement for your sin.

[31] And Moses returned unto the LORD, and said, Oh, this people have sinned

a great sin, and have made them gods of gold.

[32] Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin--; and if not, blot me, I pray

thee, out of thy book which thou hast written.

[33] And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him

will I blot out of my book.

[34] Therefore now go, lead the people unto the place of which I have spoken

unto thee: behold, mine Angel shall go before thee: nevertheless in the day

when I visit I will visit their sin upon them.

[35] And the LORD plagued the people, because they made the calf, which

Aaron made.

Brotherly Love

One in Christ



11 (Col 2:11; 1Co 12:2; Eph 5:8) Therefore remember that formerly you,

the Gentiles in the flesh, who are called the "uncircumcision"

by the so-called "circumcision" in the flesh by human hands,

12 (1Th 4:13; Gal 4:8) were at that time apart from Christ,

alienated from the citizenship of Israel and strangers to the covenants

of promise, without hope and without God in the world.

13 (Ac 2:39; Isa 57:19) But now in Christ Jesus you who were formerly

far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

14 (Gal 3:28; Mic 5:5) For He is our peace, who has made both groups one

and has broken down the barrier of the dividing wall,

15 (Col 2:14; 2:20) by abolishing in His flesh the enmity, that is,

the law of the ­commandments contained in ordinances, that in Himself

He might make the two into one new man, thus making peace,

16 (Eph 2:15; Col 1:20-22) and that He might reconcile both to God

into one body through the cross, thereby slaying the enmity.

17 (Ps 148:14; Dt 4:7) And He came and preached peace to you who were

far away and peace to those who were near.

18 (1Co 12:13; Eph 3:12) For through Him we both have access by one

Spirit to the Father.



[11] Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh,

Joan groaned when she saw Susan's social media post. The photo showed ten

church friends, smiling around a restaurant table. For the second time this

month, they were having a grand time - without her. Joan blinked away tears.

She didn't always get along with the others, but still.

How strange to attend church with people who didn't include her!



How very first century too! But Jesus desires unity and came to heal our

division. From the church's beginning, people who didn't get along were to

find common ground in Him. Jews looked down on gentiles for not keeping the

law, and gentiles loathed Jews for thinking they were better. Then Jesus

"made the two groups one"; He "destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of

hostility, by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands"

(Ephesians 2:14-15). Keeping the law no longer mattered. What counted

was Jesus. Would Jew and gentile unite in Him?



That depended on their response. Jesus "preached peace to [gentiles] who were

far away and peace to [Jews] who were near" (v. 17). Same message, different

application. Self-righteous Jews needed to admit they weren't better, while

snubbed gentiles needed to believe they weren't worse. Both needed to stop

fretting about the other and focus on Christ, who was creating "in himself

one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace" (v. 15).



Feeling snubbed? That hurts. It's not right. But you can be a peacemaker

as you rest in Jesus. He's still our peace.

Romans 3:23-24

A distinguished middle-aged man stood trembling before his church

to give his testimony. Years before, in the grip of a mental illness

that nearly destroyed his life, he had taken the life of his own daughter

and tried to kill himself. But he did not die; tried and convicted, he

spent years in prison, and even longer in the prison of his own guilt.

After the service, a young woman walked up to him and simply said,

"Thank you for sharing. I've sinned, too."

We've all sinned, too - lest we forget or rationalise, the Bible reminds

us in no uncertain terms. And the writer of these verses was no stranger

to sin: he was the Pharisee, the holier-than-thou religious leader

who officiated at the stoning death of Stephen. He was the Jew who had

scattered and killed the followers of this heretic called Christ. He

thought he was righteous while he murdered God's people.

Christians tends to establish a "hierarchy" of sin - sexual sin is "worse"

than pride: murder is "more horrible" than slander. Yet the Bible gives

no indication that god acknowledges our hierarchy. Sin is sin; all have

sinned, and if we are guilty at one point, we are guilty of all.

Rather than rationalise our individual sins as being "less bad"

than someone else's, we need to openly confess our dilemma as sinners

and turn to God for his remedy. We cannot and do not need to earn or

deserve that grace - it is a gift from God.



Application



a) Have I ever compared my sin with someone else's in order

to make myself fell like a better person? Why is such

comparison not a valid remedy for sin?



b) Why do I need to acknowledge my sin honestly before I can

receive justification?

It is estimated that Calgary has 82000 Muslims and Edmonton another 50000 .

Alberta may have a total as high as 195240 today.

Calgary is notable as the first Canadian city with a Muslim mayor. It's

become a prominent place of Islamic fundamentalism.

Edmonton's Muslim population is very diverse, with the largest group

coming from Tanzania, followed by Somalia, and then North African countries

such as Egypt, Morocco, etc.

Muslims are coming to faith in Jesus! They overcome huge spiritual,

emotional and cultural hurdles to follow Christ. Yet their challenges still

continue, especially in growing in discipleship. They often fell lost in our

Western congregations, and equally lost trying to find a church body with whom

they can identify. some are even being lured into Christian cult groups.



Please join us in praying for:

- The church to reach out to the growing Muslim populations in Alberta.

- for Canadian churches to start contextualised discipleship ministries to

Muslim-background believers.

- for Muslm-background believers to be well grounded spiritually and socially

in their faith and the Church.

- and for Muslim-background believers to share their faith with their

not-yet-believing family and friendship networks.

- for Farsi and Arabic fellowships to grow in spiritual maturity and outreach.

- for current and new workers among Muslims in these growing Muslim

in these growing Muslim population centres.

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month

and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days

of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that

usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,

of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be

decorated and festivals will be held.



For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the

distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of

Islam.



You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",

which means Blessed Eid!"



Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you

know, and Muslims around the world:



- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions

in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about

unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such

movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three

decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim

relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.

Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,

"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;

your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.

18 Even on My menservants and maidservants

I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.

19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below:

blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,

and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes.

21 And whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."[a]

Christ among Muslim people -

Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."

- When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims

throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days!



My paternal side is of Muslim heritage and will offer this section to further

call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity

(Hindus, Jews, aboriginals Canadian, ...) .

love, Mercy, compassion, faithfulness and provision.

SCRIPTURE REFLECTION:



Romans 8:28,



28 (Gal 1:15; Ge 50:20) We know that all things work together for good

to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.



[28] And we know that all things work together for good to them that love

God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.



Ephesians 4:32,



32 (2Co 2:10; Col 3:12-13; Mt 6:12) And be kind one to another,

tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ

also forgave you.

even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

3 be eager to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

PRAYER:



Lord, I lift my loved one to You, knowing the pain they've experienced from

the church has caused them to turn away. Heal the wounds in their heart and

soften them toward You. Help them see that You are different from those

who hurt them and that Your love is perfect. Surround them with believers

who love them without judgement, reflecting Your grace in ways that bring

healing and reconciliation. I ask for forgiveness for any way the church may

have failed, and I trust You to work restoration in their life.

REFLECTION:



How can I support my prodigals through prayer and love as they navigate

their hurt? How am I representing Christ's love to those wounded by the

church?



VERSE OF THE DAY:



1 Corinthians 12:26



26 (Ro 12:15) If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it,

and if one part is honored, all the parts rejoice with it.



[26] And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one

member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.



When someone is wounded by the church, the pain runs deep, often leaving

them feeling judged, rejected, and distanced from both God and His people.

It's heartbreaking to see someone we love, who was once open to faith,

become hardened by their painful experiences.



Yet, even in their distance, God's love remains constant. He sees their wounds

and longs to heal the damage caused by those who were meant to reflect His

grace. As we pray for a prodigal hurt by the church, we must ask God to soften

their hearts and help them see beyond their pain.



Pray that they encounter the true character of Jesus - a Savior full of

compassion, grace, and love. We should also seek God's forgiveness for where

the church has fallen short, asking for healing and restoration. Finally, pray that

God would send people into their lives who can embody His love and lead

them toward true healing and reconciliation.



Conclusion:



LORDSHIP PRAYER

Lord Jesus, I confess that I have sinned and I acknowledge my need for you. I

acknowledge my need for You. Thank You for dying on the cross for me and I

accept You as my Saviour, My Redeemer, my Deliverer and my Lord.



I choose to surrender to You and I invite You now to be Lord

of every area of my life:



- Lord of my spirit and my relationship with You

- Lord of my mind, my beliefs, and all my thoughts

- Lord of my emotions, my attitudes and my reactions.

- Lord of my spiritual awareness and worship

- Lord of my will and all my decisions

- Lord of my body, my health, and all my behavior

- Lord of my eyes and all upon that which I look.

- Lord of my ears and everything that I listen.

the day for God's unfailing love, Mercy, compassion, faithfulness and provision.



Pray that the Lord will lead the Church in finding ways

to wisely and effectively respond to pressing social issues



Pray for foreign Christians who have been deported for their evangelical

activities among Qataris.



Pray for an increased vibrant Christian witness to take place in Oman.

Spiritual Fruit and Fleshly Works



16 (Eph 2:3; Ro 8:4-5) I say then, walk in the Spirit,

Why is it necessary?



Titus 2:11-14

Why is it so hard?

The Altar of Incense



Ex 37:25-28

It will be square. Its height will be two cubits;

(About 1 1/2 feet long and wide and 3 feet high,

or 45 centimeters long and wide and 90 centimeters high.)

the horns shall be of one piece with it.

3You must overlay it with pure gold, its top, its sides all around,

and its horns; and you must make a molding of gold all around it.

4 (Ex 25:27) You must make two golden rings for it under its molding.

and they will be holders for the poles with which to carry it.

horns thereof shall be of the same.

[3] And thou shalt overlay it with pure gold, the top thereof, and the sides

thereof round about, and the horns thereof; and thou shalt make unto it a

crown of gold round about.

[4] And two golden rings shalt thou make to it under the crown of it, by the

two corners thereof, upon the two sides of it shalt thou make it; and they

shall be for places for the staves to bear it withal.

[5] And thou shalt make the staves of shittim wood, and overlay them with

gold.

[6] And thou shalt put it before the vail that is by the ark of the

testimony, before the mercy seat that is over the testimony, where I will

meet with thee.

The Atonement Money



11 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying:

12 (Nu 31:50; Ex 38:25-26) When you take the census of the children of

Israel according to their number, then each man is to pay a ransom for

his life to the Lord when you count them, so that there be no plague

among them when you number them.

13 (Lev 27:25; Nu 3:47) This is what everyone who is counted must give:

half a shekel according to the shekel of the sanctuary

(About 1/5 ounce, or 5.8 grams; and in v. 15. (a shekel is twenty gerahs).)

The half shekel will be the offering to the Lord.

14 Everyone who is counted, from twenty years old and above,

must give an offering to the Lord.

15 (Pr 22:2; Eph 6:9) The rich must not give more and the poor must not

give less than half a shekel when they give the offering to the Lord,

to make atonement for your lives.

16 (Ex 38:25-31; Nu 16:40) You must take the atonement money of the

children of Israel and give it for the service of the tent of meeting,

The Bronze Basin



17 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying:

18 (Ex 38:8; 40:7) You must also make a basin of bronze,

with its base also of bronze, for washing,

and you must put it between the tent of meeting and the altar,

and you must put water in it.

19 (Isa 52:11; Ex 40:31-32) For Aaron and his sons must wash

their hands and their feet from it.

20 When they go into the tent of meeting, or when they come near

the altar to minister by burning incense as an offering made

by fire to the Lord, they must wash with water so that they will not die.

21 (Ex 28:43) So they must wash their hands and their feet,

so that they will not die. And it will be a perpetual statute for them,

even to him and to his seed throughout their generations.



[17] And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

[18] Thou shalt also make a laver of brass, and his foot also of brass, to

wash withal: and thou shalt put it between the tabernacle of the

congregation and the altar, and thou shalt put water therein.

[19] For Aaron and his sons shall wash their hands and their feet thereat:

[20] When they go into the tabernacle of the congregation, they shall wash

with water, that they die not; or when they come near to the altar to

minister, to burn offering made by fire unto the LORD:

The Anointing Oil



22 Moreover the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:

23 (SS 4:14; Eze 27:19) Take for yourself choice spices: five hundred shekels

(About 12 1/2 pounds, or 5.8 kilograms; and in v. 24. )

of pure myrrh, half as much sweet-smelling cinnamon

(two hundred and fifty shekels About 6 1/4 pounds, or 2.9 kilograms.),

two hundred and fifty shekels of sweet-smelling cane,

24 (Ex 29:40; Ps 45:8) five hundred shekels of cassia,

according to the shekel of the sanctuary, and a hin

(About 75 pounds, or 34 kilograms.) of olive oil.

25 (Ex 37:29; Nu 35:25; Ps 89:20) And you must make

with it a holy anointing oil, a perfumed compound,

the work of a perfumer. It will be a holy anointing oil.

The Sabbath Law



12 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying:

13 (Eze 20:12; 20:20) Speak also to the children of Israel, saying,

"You must surely keep My Sabbaths, for it is a sign between Me

and you throughout your generations, that you may know that

I am the Lord who sanctifies you.

14 "You shall keep the Sabbath, for it is holy to you.

Everyone who defiles it will surely be put to death.

For whoever does any work on it, that person will be cut

off from among his people.

15 (Ex 16:23; Lev 23:3) Six days may work be done,

but on the seventh is the Sabbath of complete rest,

33 You shall make on its hem pomegranates of blue,

and of purple, and of scarlet, all around its hem,

and on his sons with him, and shall anoint them, and consecrate them,

Consecration of the Priests



Lev 8:1-36



1 Now this is the thing that you shall do to them to consecrate them,

to minister as priests to Me:

Take one young bull and two rams without blemish,

2 (Nu 6:15) and unleavened bread, and unleavened cakes mixed with oil,

and unleavened wafers anointed with oil - you shall make them of wheat flour.

3 You shall put them into one basket and bring them in the basket

with the bull and the two rams.

4 (Ex 40:12; Heb 10:22) Then you shall bring Aaron and his sons to the door

of the tent of meeting and wash them with water.

5 You shall take the garments and clothe Aaron with the tunic

and the robe of the ephod and the ephod and the breastplate,

and gird him with the skillfully woven band of the ephod.

6 (Lev 8:9) And you shall put the turban on his head

and put the holy crown on the turban.

7 (Lev 21:10; Nu 35:25) Then shall you take the anointing oil

and pour it on his head and anoint him.

8 (Lev 8:13; Ex 28:40) You shall bring his sons and put tunics on them.

9 (Nu 18:7; Lev 8:22-28) You shall gird them with sashes,

Aaron and his sons, and put the headbands on them,

and the priest's office shall be theirs for a perpetual statute.

11 You shall kill the bull before the Lord

and pour all the blood beside the bottom of the altar.

14 (Lev 4:11-12; 4:21) But the flesh of the bull, its skin,

and its dung, you shall burn with fire outside the camp.

It is a sin offering.

15 (Ex 29:19) You shall also take one ram, and Aaron

and his sons shall put their hands on the head of the ram.

16 You shall slay the ram, and you shall take its blood

and sprinkle it around on the altar.

17 Then you shall cut the ram in pieces,

and wash its entrails and its legs,

and put them with its pieces and its head.

18 (Ge 8:21) You shall burn the whole ram

on the altar. It is a burnt offering to the Lord.

It is a soothing aroma, an offering made by fire to the Lord.

19 (Ex 29:3) Then you shall take the other ram,

and Aaron and his sons shall put their hands

on the head of the ram.

20 You shall kill the ram and take some of its blood

and put it on the tip of the right ear of Aaron,

and on the tip of the right ear of his sons,

and on the thumb of their right hand,

and on the great toe of their right foot,

and sprinkle the blood around on the altar.

21 (Ex 29:1; 29:7) You shall take some of the blood

that is on the altar and some of the anointing

oil and sprinkle it on Aaron and on his garments,

and on his sons, and on the garments of his sons with him.

So he and his garments shall be consecrated,

along with his sons and his sons' garments with him.

22 (Ex 29:13) Also you shall take the fat and the rump of the ram,

and the fat that covers the entrails and the lobe above the liver,

and the two kidneys, and the fat that is on them

and the right shoulder (for it is a ram of consecration),

23 (Ex 29:2-3) and one loaf of bread, and one cake of oiled bread,

and one wafer out of the basket of the unleavened bread

that is before the Lord.

24 (Lev 7:30; 8:27) And you shall put all of these in the hands of Aaron

and in the hands of his sons, and shall wave them for a wave offering

before the Lord.

25 (Lev 8:28; Ex 29:41) Then you shall take them from their hands

and burn them on the altar for a burnt offering, for a soothing aroma

before the Lord. It is an offering made by fire to the Lord.

26 (Lev 8:29) You shall take the breast of Aaron's ram of consecration,

and wave it as a wave offering before the Lord,

and it shall be your portion.

27 (Lev 10:15; Nu 18:11) You shall consecrate the breast of the wave

offering that is waved and the thigh of the priest's portion

that is contributed from the ram of the consecration,

from that which was for Aaron and from that which was for his sons.

28 It shall be for Aaron and his sons by a statute forever,

for it is a contribution.

It shall be a contribution from the children of Israel

from their peace offerings, their contributions to the Lord.

29 (Nu 18:8) The holy garments belonging to Aaron are to belong

to his sons after him, so that they may be anointed in them

and be consecrated in them.

30 (Nu 20:28) The son that is priest in his stead shall put them

on seven days when he comes into the tent of meeting to

minister in the holy place.

31 (Lev 8:31) You shall take the ram of the consecration

and boil its flesh in a holy place.

32 (Mt 12:4) Aaron and his sons shall eat the flesh of the ram

and the bread that is in the basket by the door of the tent of meeting.

33 (Nu 18:4) They shall eat those things by which the atonement

was made in order to consecrate and sanctify them,

but no one else shall eat them, because they are holy.

34 (Ex 12:10; Lev 8:32) If any of the flesh from the consecrations

or from the bread remain until the morning,

then you shall burn the remainder with fire.

It shall not be eaten, because it is holy.

35 Thus shall you do to Aaron and his sons according to all that

I have commanded you. You shall consecrate them for seven days.

36 (Heb 10:11; Ex 30:26) Every day you must offer a bull as a sin

offering for atonement, and you must cleanse the altar when you

make atonement for it. You must anoint it to consecrate it.

37 (Ex 40:10; Mt 23:19) For seven days you must make atonement

for the altar and consecrate it, and then the altar will be most holy,

and whatever touches the altar will be holy.

children of Israel: for it is an heave offering: and it shall be an heave

offering from the children of Israel of the sacrifice of their peace

offerings, even their heave offering unto the LORD.

unto the morning, then thou shalt burn the remainder with fire: it shall not

be eaten, because it is holy.

[35] And thus shalt thou do unto Aaron, and to his sons, according to all

things which I have commanded thee: seven days shalt thou consecrate them.

[36] And thou shalt offer every day a bullock for a sin offering for

atonement: and thou shalt cleanse the altar, when thou hast made an

atonement for it, and thou shalt anoint it, to sanctify it.

[37] Seven days thou shalt make an atonement for the altar, and sanctify it;

and it shall be an altar most holy: whatsoever toucheth the altar shall be

holy.



The Daily Offerings



38 (Nu 28:3-8; 1Ch 16:40) Now this is what you are to offer on the altar:

two one-year-old lambs every day, continually.

39 (Eze 46:13-15; 2Ki 16:15) The one lamb you must offer in the morning,

and the other lamb you must offer at sundown.

40 (Lev 23:13) And with the first lamb will be a tenth of an ephah

(Likely about 3 1/2 pounds, or 1.6 kilograms. ) of flour mingled with

the fourth part of a hin (Likely about 1 quart, or 1 liter. )of beaten oil,

and the fourth part of a hin of wine for a drink offering.

41 The other lamb you must offer at sundown and must offer with

it the same grain offering and the same drink offering as in the morning,

for a soothing aroma, an offering made by fire to the Lord.

42 (Ex 25:22) This will be a continual burnt offering throughout

your generations at the door of the tent of meeting before the Lord,

where I will meet with you, to speak to you there.

43 (1Ki 8:11; Ex 40:34) I will meet there with the children of Israel,

and it will be consecrated by My glory.

44 (Lev 21:15; 22:9) I will sanctify the tent of meeting and the altar.

I will also sanctify both Aaron and his sons to minister as priests to Me.

45 (Ex 25:8; Lev 26:12) I will dwell among the children of Israel

and will be their God.

46 (Ex 20:2) Then they will know that I am the Lord their God who brought

them out of the land of Egypt, so that I may dwell among them.

I am the Lord their God.



[38] Now this is that which thou shalt offer upon the altar; two lambs of

the first year day by day continually.

[39] The one lamb thou shalt offer in the morning; and the other lamb thou

shalt offer at even:

Acts 23:10-13



10 (Ac 22:24) When much dissension arose, fearing that Paul would be torn

to pieces by them, the commander ordered the soldiers to go down and take

him from them by force and bring him into the barracks.

11 (Ac 18:9; 19:21) The following night the Lord stood by him and said,

"Take courage, Paul. For as you have testified about Me in Jerusalem,

so you must also testify at Rome."



10 And when there arose a great dissension, the chief captain, fearing lest

Paul should have been pulled in pieces of them, commanded the soldiers to go

down, and to take him by force from among them, and to bring him into the

castle.

11 And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer,

Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear

witness also at Rome.



The Plot Against Paul's Life



12 (Ac 23:21; 23:30) At daybreak some of the Jews conspired under oath,

saying they would neither eat nor drink until they had killed Paul.

13 There were more than forty who had conspired.



12 And when it was day, certain of the Jews banded together, and bound

themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink

till they had killed Paul.

13 And they were more than forty which had made this conspiracy.



The Russian pastor approached the pulpit nervously. He was about to preach

from Scripture against his country's invasion of Ukraine. He didn't know if

this message in a small church in St. Petersburg would land him in jail.

Yet his courage compelled him to speak out.



Knowing the importance of always sharing Christ's heart, he said,

"The most effective means are to work within your spheres of influence -

and ours are very small."



Most of us have similar spheres of influence: our workplaces, homes

or friendship groups. And while sharing Jesus within these contexts is not

necessarily dangerous in the same way, it can still be costly.



So, where do we find the courage? The apostle Paul often faced opposition

when he spoke of Jesus. Once he was nearly "torn to pieces" by the religious

leaders (Acts 23:10). And then forty men

"took an oath not to eat or drink until they had killed [him]" (v. 12).



In the middle of the threats and violence we read these special words:

"The Lord stood near Paul and said, 'Take courage!'" (v. 11). I love this

description of God - who is always present - deliberately standing near to

Paul. The Lord told him his sphere of influence was about to change.

Yet, reassuringly, God showed that He would remain as close as ever.



If you feel afraid, know that the Lord stands especially close to you.

His presence is your courage.

Establishing priorities is a popular topic of conversation in our

generation. We carry appointment calendars and attend goal-setting

strategy seminars. We let machines answer our telephones so that

we won't miss any important messages, or so that we can screen calls

before we answer them. We order our lives so that we can "get ahead".

"Getting ahead" in God's kingdom, however, involves other priorities

than the ones we may set for ourselves. "Wisdom is supreme," the

principal thing, says Proverbs 4:7, "Get wisdom. Though it cost

all you have, get understanding."

Wisdom is defined as "an understanding of what is true, right, or lasting."

Biblical wisdom is not merely the accumulation of facts about God and his

teaching, but the application of those truths of life, taking on

the character of God as we mature in the image of Christ.

Such wisdom may, indeed, come at great cost. Jesus calls us to "lay

down our lives" to follow him - perhaps not literally to die, but to die

to self-centered priorities, to allow the Holy Spirit to establish

his value system in us.

"Keep my commandments and you will live," Proverbs 4:4 says. Real life -

rich, fulfilling, significant, abundant life - comes only through union

with God. The success offered by the world, the acclaim of others, material

prosperity and convenience cannot satisfy us once we have tasted

the joy of life with God in Christ.

Calgary is notable as the first Canadian city with a Muslim mayor. It's

become a prominent place of Islamic fundamentalism.

Edmonton's Muslim population is very diverse, with the largest group

coming from Tanzania, followed by Somalia, and then North African countries

such as Egypt, Morocco, etc.

Muslims are coming to faith in Jesus! They overcome huge spiritual,

emotional and cultural hurdles to follow Christ. Yet their challenges still

continue, especially in growing in discipleship. They often fell lost in our

Western congregations, and equally lost trying to find a church body with whom

they can identify. some are even being lured into Christian cult groups.



Please join us in praying for:

- The church to reach out to the growing Muslim populations in Alberta.

- for Canadian churches to start contextualised discipleship ministries to

Muslim-background believers.

- for Muslm-background believers to be well grounded spiritually and socially

in their faith and the Church.

- for Farsi and Arabic fellowships to grow in spiritual maturity and outreach.

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month

and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days

of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that

usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,

of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be

decorated and festivals will be held.

We are engaged in a daily spiritual battle, and the enemy seeks to steal,

may be caught in the enemy's grip, but God's strength reigns supreme.



As believers, we can fall into two traps regarding the enemy: either we

underestimate his influence, or we give him more power than he actually

possesses. The enemy loves to deceive both prodigals and us, sowing doubt

about God's goodness and character. But the truth is that Jesus is not just

above the forces of darkness-He is infinitely more powerful and sovereign

overall.



God has equipped us with spiritual armour for this battle (Ephesians 6:10-20),

and it's crucial that we utilise every piece. Like soldiers in a war, we may grow

weary or even wounded at times, but we must press on. Prayer is one of our

greatest weapons, and God hears every cry. As you pray for your prodigal, ask

God for fresh insight and strength to fight effectively, trusting that victory is

found in Him.

The Altar of Burnt Offering



Ex 38:1-7



1 (Ex 38:1-7) You shall make an altar of acacia wood,

five cubits long and five cubits wide.

(About 71/2 feet, or 2.3 meters long and wide.)

The altar shall be square, and its height shall be three cubits.

(About 4 1/2 feet, or 1.4 meters. )

2 (Ps 118:27; Ex 29:12) You shall make its horns on its four corners.

Its horns shall be part of it, and you shall overlay it with bronze.

3 (1Ki 7:45) You shall make its pots for its ashes, and its shovels,

and its basins, and its meat hooks, and its fire pans.

You shall make all of its vessels out of bronze.

4 You shall make a grating for it, a network of bronze,

and on the net you shall make four bronze rings at its four corners.

5 You shall put it under the ledge of the altar beneath,

so that the net will reach halfway up the altar.

6 You shall make poles for the altar,

poles of acacia wood, and overlay them with bronze.

7 The poles shall be put into the rings,

so that the poles shall be on the two sides

of the altar when carrying it.

8 (Ex 25:40; 25:9) You shall make it hollow with boards.

Just as it was shown you on the mountain, so shall they make it.

The Court of the Tabernacle



Ex 38:9-20



9 (Ex 38:9-20) You shall make the court of the tabernacle.

On the south side there shall be curtains for the court of

fine twined linen one hundred cubits long

(About 150 feet, or 45 meters; and in v. 11.) for one side;

10 and it shall have twenty pillars with twenty bronze sockets.

The hooks of the pillars and their bands shall be of silver.

11 Likewise for the north side in length there shall be curtains

one hundred cubits long, and its twenty pillars

and their twenty sockets of bronze.

The hooks of the pillars and their bands shall be of silver.

12 For the width of the court on the west side shall be

curtains of fifty cubits (About 75 feet, or 23 meters; and in v. 13. )

The Oil for the Lamp



Lev 24:1-3



20 You shall command the children of Israel that they bring

you pure oil of olive pressed for the light,

to cause the lamp to burn continually.

21 (Nu 18:23; 19:21) In the tent of meeting,

outside the veil which is before the testimony,

Aaron and his sons shall arrange it from evening

to morning before the Lord. It shall be a perpetual

statute for the children of Israel for generations to come.



[20] And thou shalt command the children of Israel, that they bring thee

pure oil olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamp to burn always.

[21] In the tabernacle of the congregation without the vail, which is before

the testimony, Aaron and his sons shall order it from evening to morning

before the LORD: it shall be a statute for ever unto their generations on

the behalf of the children of Israel.

into the heart of the seas,

and the flood surrounded me.

All Your billows and Your waves

passed over me.

4 Then I said, 'I am cast away

from Your sight;

yet I will look again

to Your holy temple.'

5 The waters encompassed me; even to my soul

the deep surrounded me;

weeds were wrapped around my head.

6 I went down to the foundations of the mountains;

the earth with its bars was around me forever;

yet You have brought up my life from the pit,

O Lord my God.

7 "When my life was ebbing away,

I remembered the Lord;

and my prayer came to You,

into Your holy temple."



[1] Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly,

[2] And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he

heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.

[3] For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the

floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me.

[4] Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward

thy holy temple.

[5] The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me

round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head.

[6] I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was

about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD

my God.

[7] When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer

came in unto thee, into thine holy temple.



From the bottom of the ocean, Harrison cried to God to save him. A freak wave

had overturned his tugboat off the coast of Nigeria, and it sank rapidly. The

rest of the crew, unable to escape, drowned, but Harrison had found an air

pocket in a bathroom. A man of faith, he meditated on Psalms, thought of his

family and prayed for his life. After three dark days, a rescue diver got a

massive shock when his torchlight found a moving hand instead of a corpse.

God had answered Harrison's prayer.



Harrison’s experience was eerily similar to Jonah's, as was the desperate

prayer for rescue when he was about to drown. Jonah went down through the

ocean, "into the deep, in the midst of the seas" (Jonah 2:3). He cried to

God: "In my distress I called to the Lord, and he answered me" (v. 2).

For three days, Jonah's 'air pocket' was a big fish, and so he too

was spared death.



There is mystery in suffering, and we don't know why Harrison was

freed but the rest of the crew drowned. What we do know is that God hears

our desperate pleas and loves us. Even death is not the end. Jesus went to

the very depths of death for three days to bring us resurrection life.

Today if you feel like you're drowning, call out to our merciful God.

Proverbs 30:5



5 (Ps 12:6; 18:30) Every word of God is pure;

He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.



5 Every word of God is pure:

He is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.



A wife of ten years, betrayed by her husband's infidelity, declares that

she will never trust a man again. A teenage son says of his father, "I

can't depend on him anymore! Dad always talk big and makes promises,

but he never does what he says." A career woman, her reputation

undermined by gossip, leaves the church broken, and never returns.

Human beings are weak, volatile, unfaithful creatures; often we

break our word and hurt others in the process. But the Scripture

clearly assures us that God's Word is not like the word of man.

God always remains faithful to his Word, always fulfills his promises,

always does what he says he will do.

God's word is pure (or flawless), Proverbs 30:5 says. His Word

is not distorted with mixed motives or flawed by untruth. God's Word

is dependable, able to support and lift us up, able to speak

encouragement to us. His Word is a "shield" a protection for us

against the onslaughts of the Enemy, a place of refuge from the struggle

and confusion of daily life.

We live in a world that recognises no absolute truth. Morality,

values, relationships, ethics - every decision of life, it seems,

"depends on the situation." But in the midst of the confusion,

God interjects his Word - timeless, pure, trustworthy, reliable.

We can depend upon God's Word. We can turn to him to verify who we are

and the purposes for which we were created. We can find refuge in his truth,

and rest in the knowledge that whatever he says, he will do.

It is estimated that Calgary has 82000 Muslims and Edmonton another 50000 .

Alberta may have a total as high as 195240 today.

Calgary is notable as the first Canadian city with a Muslim mayor. It's

become a prominent place of Islamic fundamentalism.

Edmonton's Muslim population is very diverse, with the largest group

coming from Tanzania, followed by Somalia, and then North African countries

such as Egypt, Morocco, etc.

Muslims are coming to faith in Jesus! They overcome huge spiritual,

emotional and cultural hurdles to follow Christ. Yet their challenges still

continue, especially in growing in discipleship. They often fell lost in our

Western congregations, and equally lost trying to find a church body with whom

they can identify. some are even being lured into Christian cult groups.



Please join us in praying for:

- The church to reach out to the growing Muslim populations in Alberta.

- for Canadian churches to start contextualised discipleship ministries to

Muslim-background believers.

- for Muslm-background believers to be well grounded spiritually and socially

in their faith and the Church.

- and for Muslim-background believers to share their faith with their

not-yet-believing family and friendship networks.

- for Farsi and Arabic fellowships to grow in spiritual maturity and outreach.

- for current and new workers among Muslims in these growing Muslim

in these growing Muslim population centres.

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month

and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days

of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that

usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,

of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be

decorated and festivals will be held.



For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the

distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of

Islam.



You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",

which means Blessed Eid!"



Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you

know, and Muslims around the world:



- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions

in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about

unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such

movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three

decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim

relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.

Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,

"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;

your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.

18 Even on My menservants and maidservants

I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.

19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below:

blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,

and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes.

call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity

DON'T FIGHT ALONE



When praying for the prodigals and unbelievers in our lives, it's easy to feel

as though the burden of their salvation rests entirely on our shoulders. Yet

God didn't design us to face these battles in isolation. Scripture reminds us

that there is strength in numbers and that powerful things happen when

believers unite in prayer.



In Matthew 18:20, Jesus offers this encouraging promise: "[20] For where two

or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them."

We are not alone in our fight for the hearts of those we love. When we pray

with fellow believers, we experience God's presence in ways that strengthen

our hope and faith.



Don't carry the weight of your prodigal or unbelieving loved ones alone.

Invite God's family to surround you, lifting them up in unified prayer.

The battle is the Lord's, but the victory is even sweeter when we stand

together.

Laws About Restitution

and is struck so that he dies, then there will be no blood guilt for him.

3 (Ex 21:2) If the sun has risen on him, then there is blood guilt for him.

He must make full restitution. If he has nothing,

then he will be sold for his theft.

One of the great hymn writers of all time, Isaac Watts, wrote "When I Survey

the Wondrous Cross." In penning its lyrics, he used the poetic device of

paradox to show a contrast in themes: "my richest gain I count but loss"

and "pour contempt on all my pride." Such words are "used in seeming

contradiction to themselves". In the case of Watts's lyrics, this device is

especially profound.



Jesus used paradox often. "Blessed are the poor in spirit" (Matthew 5:3), He

said, suggesting that those who have no hope will receive more than they could

ever hope for. When you or I mourn the loss of someone dear and are sad, Jesus

says we "will be comforted" (v. 4). Christ was showing how in God's kingdom

the common rules of life don't apply.



These paradoxes tell us that life in Christ defies all expectations: we who

are nobodies are cherished as somebodies. It was on the cross that Jesus bore

a visual paradox-a crown of thorns. Isaac Watts took this symbol of ridicule

and, paradoxically, gave it soaring beauty: "Did e’er such love and sorrow

meet, / or thorns compose so rich a crown?" In this we thrill yet are mindful

of the final line of the hymn: "Love so amazing, so divine, / demands my soul,

my life, my all."

"His heart is not just in it," a gifted musician commented about the

pianist onstage. "He's here at the Orchestra Hall, playing for

thousands of people, an his technique is flawless, but something

is missing - his heart is just not in it."

The psalmist , in Psalm 119, draws a similar parallel. We "Keep our

way pure" through obedience of his Word, by ordering our lives according

to the commands of the Scriptures. But outward behaviour is not the only

essential factor in purity of life. The changes in our behaviour need to

come from the heart, from the inside out. Our "technique" for living

the Christian life may be flawless, but our obedience is founded

in heart motivation, something is certainly missing.

"I seek you with all my heart," the psalmist declares in verse 10.

Thus he can say in verse 11, "Your word I have hidden in my heart,

that I might not sin against You."

Often we refer to memorisation as "learning by heart" - and indeed

"by heart" is the biblical mandate for assimilating God's truth

into our daily lives. "By rote" or "By Mind" leaves us

intellectually overstuffed, yet spiritually starving.

When we try to apply the Word outwardly to our behaviour,

we end up in a tangle of legalism, a log "do list" by which

we hope to please God. But when we set our hearts toward God first,

then changes in our behaviour grow out of love for God and a deep

desire to serve him. Then we are truly loving and obeying God with

our whole hearts.

Alberta may have a total as high as 195240 today.

Calgary is notable as the first Canadian city with a Muslim mayor. It's

become a prominent place of Islamic fundamentalism.

Edmonton's Muslim population is very diverse, with the largest group

coming from Tanzania, followed by Somalia, and then North African countries

such as Egypt, Morocco, etc.

Muslims are coming to faith in Jesus! They overcome huge spiritual,

emotional and cultural hurdles to follow Christ. Yet their challenges still

continue, especially in growing in discipleship. They often fell lost in our

Western congregations, and equally lost trying to find a church body with whom

they can identify. some are even being lured into Christian cult groups.



Please join us in praying for:

- The church to reach out to the growing Muslim populations in Alberta.

- for Canadian churches to start contextualised discipleship ministries to

Muslim-background believers.

- for Muslm-background believers to be well grounded spiritually and socially

in their faith and the Church.

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month

and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days

of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that

usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,

of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be

decorated and festivals will be held.



For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the

distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of

Islam.



You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",

which means Blessed Eid!"



Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you

know, and Muslims around the world:



- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions

in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about

unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such

movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three

decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim

relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.

Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,

"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;

your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.

18 Even on My menservants and maidservants

I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.

19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below:

blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,

prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings for everyone, 2 (Ezr 6:10) for kings

and for all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceful life

in all godliness and honesty, 3 (1Ti 1:1; Lk 1:47) for this is good and

acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour, 4 (Eze 18:23; 18:32)who desires all

men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.



1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers,

intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2 for kings,

and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable

life in all godliness and honesty. 3For this is good and acceptable

in the sight of God our Saviour; 4 who will have all men to be saved,

and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.



II) Pray for the churches of the province, that they would be lighthouses

beaming forth the illuminating truth of God's Word.

8 ) Fast and Pray



DAY ELEVEN:



FIGHTING THE ENEMY WITH PRAYER, PRAISE, AND THE ARMOUR OF GOD



As parents, friends, or loved ones of prodigals, we are often engaged in a

spiritual battle. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy the lives of those we

love, filling their minds with lies and deception, but we are not left

defenceless. God has given us powerful weapons: prayer, praise, and the

armour of God. Through these, we can stand firm in the truth and combat the

enemy's schemes.



When Satan hurls lies at us or our prodigals-telling us they're too far gone,

that God can't reach them, or that our prayers are ineffective-we must

counter those lies with God's truth. Open the Word and declare the promises

of Scripture over their lives. Prayer is another essential weapon that brings our

battles to the throne of grace, trusting that God hears and answers in His

perfect timing. As we fight for our prodigals in prayer, we must believe that

God is working in ways we cannot see.



We can also fight back through praise. Praise shifts our focus from the problem

to the greatness of our God.



REFLECTION:



Am I fighting this spiritual battle with prayer and praise? Have I fully put on

God's armour, and am I living in obedience to His Word as I pray for my

prodigal?



PRAYER:



Lord, I come to You in this battle for my loved one. Help me fight with the

weapons You've given me-prayer, praise, and the truth of Your Word.

Strengthen me with Your armour, and help me trust that You are working in

ways I can't see. I pray for my prodigal, asking that Your truth would pierce

through the enemy's lies. Help me remain faithful in prayer and standing firm

on Your promises. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Pray to the Lord and pray to know His rewards for obedience.



Pray to the Lord and pray to Know Him as the source of life.
