Warning Against Idolatry



1 (Ex 14:29; Ps 66:6) I would not want you to be unaware that

all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea,

2 and all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea;

3 (Ex 16:35; Dt 8:3) all ate the same spiritual food;

4 (Ex 17:6; Nu 20:11) and all drank the same spiritual drink,

for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them,

and that Rock was Christ.

5 (Heb 3:17; Jude 1:5) But with many of them God was not well pleased,

and they were overthrown in the wilderness.

6 (Nu 11:4; 1Co 10:11) Now these things were our examples to the intent

that we should not lust after evil things as they lusted.

7 (Ex 32:19; 32:4) Neither be idolaters as were some of them.

As it is written,

"The people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to revel." (Ex 32:6. )

They are written as an admonition to us,

to man. God is faithful, and He will not permit you to be tempted above

what you can endure, but will with the temptation also make a way

to escape, that you may be able to bear it.

The Lord's prayer



Matthew 6:9-13

Saskatoon has seen quick growth in its Muslim population over the past

5 years, which maybe as high as 5000 today. Islamic leaders have

focused specifically on this city , having twice already sent cohorts

of about 70 families to start mosques. There are now 7 Islamic centres

of worship and an ISlamic madrassah (school) located right next to a

Christian school.

Of particular concern recently is the number of young adults who grew up

in evangelical churches and converted to Islam. Most of these are young

women who were wooed by Muslim man and became emotionally bonded.

Both prior to and after marrying, these women are known to convert to ISlam.



Agree in prayer with us for:

- entire congregations and individual believers to catch God's heart

and passion for reaching Muslims in Saskatoon and the other growing

Muslim population centres of Saskatchewan.

- for the eyes and understanding of Canadian youth to be opened to the

spiritual reality of Islam, and not deceived nor manipulated into

converting to a religion which cannot offer assurance of salvation.

- for the few workers among Muslims now engaged there, and for many more

to be raised up into effective witness.

- for prayer and training events that are starting in Saskatoon

to spread and grow to other cities.

Pray for Iranians in Greece



Growing up in Iran, Layla had many unanswered questions about faith and

nothing to comfort her throughout the many difficult circumstances in her

life. She married, had a daughter, and moved to Iraq. Eventually, her husband

passed away and Layla and daughter struggled to survive.



Eventually, Layla lost her job and most of her possessions. Then she suffered

a series of heart attacks. In a panic, Layla cried out, "God, help me! My

daughter is all alone." Despite her lack of funds, she was taken to a hospital

where she received heart surgery from a kind Christian surgeon. Her surgery

was not only successful, but the doctor encouraged her, saying,

"God is healing your heart."



Layla remembers how a "strange warmth" came over her and she felt like she was

born again. That day, Layla believed, and made a covenant with God to serve

him for as long as she has breath.



Layla and her daughter travelled to Greece along the refugee highway where God

told her clearly, "Layla, I have work for you, and you must seek out those who

have lost their way, those who are homeless." God used her first to translate

Al Massira, a film based course which leads seekers on a journey through the

Old Testament prophets, culminating in an invitation to follow Jesus

the Messiah.

Layla now serves at a refugee centre, where people arrive hungry and

exhausted. She reaches out to them with God’s love and offers prayer. In

addition, she often invites them into her home where she cooks for them

and leads them through the Al Massira course. Many of these have found a new

home in Jesus.



How to Pray



Pray for peace in Iran during this time of political turmoil and war.



Pray that refugees facing hardship and despair would encounter

Jesus the Messiah.



Ask God to equip churches to embrace new believers from a Muslim

background and see them grounded in the Word.





My paternal side is of Muslim heritage and will offer this section to further

call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity

(Hindus, Jews, aboriginals Canadian, ...) .
