Here is a brief explanation of the symbols. For each one there is one Scripture reference, but there are many more references that would be equally appropriate.

The crown symbolizes Christ's authority over us and all creation (Matthew 28:18), as well as the crown of life he has promised to his people (James 1:12).

The soldiers/knights remind us of the armour of God (Ephesians 6:13), including the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit. The soldiers' shields, as well as the crest, have a cross symbolizing Christ's sacrifice for us (Colossians 1:20).

The book represents the Bible, God's Word (Psalm 119:105). The dove represents the Holy Spirit (Matthew 3:16). Together, the Word and Spirit are God's means for instructing, comforting and guiding us.

The lamb represents Christ (Revelation 5:12). The lion also represents Christ (Revelation 5:5). Christ is both perfectly gentle and all-powerful; the king of kings, yet he humbled himself to become the atoning sacrifice for our sins (Philippians 2:5-11).

The logo is taken from I Peter 2:17. "Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God. Show proper respect for everyone: love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honour the king."

Overall, the coat of arms reflects Christ's lordship, our reliance on God for life and salvation, and our call and desire to follow him as soldiers in his army.
